Unlearned Wisdom by Johnny Chang
0:00Oh, hello everybody. In today's episode,0:02we're going to talk about why you feel0:04unqualified with God. Why it's okay to0:06actually feel unqualified with God. And0:09towards the end, we're going to talk0:10about why that actually qualifies you0:13for the grace of God.0:14>> Nice.0:15>> Welcome back to another episode on the0:17Unlearned Wisdom podcast with yours0:20truly, Johnny Chang.0:21>> Pastor Johnny Chang.0:23>> Sorry. Sorry, Pastor Johnny Chang. where0:25each episode is a gospel- centered0:26lesson that you could apply to your life0:29today.0:30>> Wow.0:32>> Crush the intro.0:33>> Heck yeah, guys. I've been I've been0:35reading books.0:36>> Nice.0:37>> Wow.0:37>> I've been recalling memory of the table.0:40Yeah.0:41>> Yeah. You've been0:41>> No, legit. I've been reading books,0:43though. I've been like thinking my brain0:45has just been getting smooth brain.0:47>> Oh.0:47>> And like I've been reading this book0:49called The Shallows. I recommend it to0:51everybody. talks about what the internet0:53and like just the the net age has done0:55to our brains. And I'm like, bro, it0:57makes sense. I can't remember sometimes0:59where my keys are. The only thing I know1:01is the gospel. So like I'm it's cuz I1:03read the Bible every day, but there's an1:04exercise where you like recall something1:07like you'll sit there and you have to1:08recall three important things that1:10happened.1:11>> And so and it's like you're you're like1:13and you can't peak, you can't do1:14anything. You have to write down three1:15things and then you have to write a1:17summary, a one like a one paragraph1:19summary of like what happened. So when I1:22read the book, I read it for 15 minutes1:23and I'm like trying to recall the three1:26things that stuck out and then and it's1:28like making my brain just more active1:30and I'm like not doom scrolling. I'm not1:32it's just been really really good. So I1:34feel like that's what's been it's going1:36to help us with our ads and everything1:37too.1:38>> Can you recall what you did uh last1:41>> I'm not going to say Monday because we1:42shoot the podcast. Can you recall1:44>> the podcast? [laughter]1:46>> Wow, you're getting way better.1:48>> Hey, do you do you recall what you did1:50last last Wednesday?1:51>> Last last Wednesday I was sick.1:53>> Last Wednesday.1:53>> Last Wednesday I was sick.1:55>> And what did you do though?1:55>> And I was I I took my pills in the1:58morning. I I ordered Uber Eats at like2:0112:00 at at not midnight 12, but like2:0412:00 p.m. And I I remember getting a2:06buy 1 get one free.2:08>> It was a kebab.2:10>> Okay. Come up.2:11>> It was Yeah. buy one get one. It was2:12$21.682:15>> and then I Dang, I don't2:16>> Man, this book is working already.2:18>> I don't remember after that. Let's try2:19to test.2:20>> $28 for a kebab.2:21>> No, 2168.2:23>> That was already one get one free.2:25>> Hey, what?2:25>> They charge you They charge you double2:27price and give you an extra one.2:28>> Really? But it was a rice combo though.2:30>> No, no, that's good.2:31>> Hey, but let's see if he can remember2:33what he did last Wednesday.2:35>> Yeah, last Wednesday I was getting2:36laughing gas under the under the knife2:39of a dentist. Oh,2:41>> I was having a crown put in last2:42Wednesday. So, I don't remember a lot of2:44it to be honest, [laughter]2:45but I remember that that's what happened2:47last week.2:47>> I feel like last week is too easy. What?2:49What happened two weeks ago?2:51>> Two Wednesdays ago.2:53>> Yeah. I have no recollection. I have to2:55look at a calendar.2:56>> I'll be honest. The crown gave me a good2:57out cuz that's like a significant thing2:59to remember. [laughter] If I didn't get3:01a crown last Wednesday, I would have no3:02idea. Ask me what I did last Tuesday. No3:05idea. No [laughter] clue. But the whole3:07point of this is just to like try to3:09think when it's so easy to like write3:11notes and stuff like that. It's like3:13don't write notes, just recall. And now3:16it's like making your brain like and I'm3:18like at first it's grueling. It's kind3:20of like when you quit smok anyone who3:21smokes cigarettes out there the first3:23three days are the worst. But literally3:25when I was doing that the first three3:27days I was like oh this is so hard. I3:29can't recall anything. I can only recall3:31scripture and things like that. But it's3:32because I do that every day. And so to3:34sit there and be like, "Dang." And then3:36there's another exercise where like you3:38have to like call out like you have to3:40be like I'm putting my keys and I'm3:43putting my I don't know my shoes like my3:45wallet right here and you call it out3:48and then like you just it like helps you3:49remember.3:50>> Yeah.3:50>> It's so crazy.3:52>> Why are you laughing?3:53>> I'm laughing cuz your neighbor's3:54probably like my neighbor's an idiot.3:57[laughter]3:58>> I'm putting my keys where he said keys.4:00>> He's just like keys my door. shoes by4:04door. The neighbor's like every morning4:06my neighbor is just yelling out where he4:08puts his keys in his shoes.4:10>> And then the next minute he's like,4:11"Jesus, Jesus, Jesus." [laughter]4:13>> Dude, that's so crazy.4:15>> And you hear him like yelling. It's so g4:17He's like, "AH, [screaming]4:18WHERE DID I PUT my keys?" He yells back,4:21"The door." [laughter]4:25>> The door. No, but yeah, it's it's it's4:27crazy.4:27>> I'm going to get this book. This sounds4:29interesting.4:29>> Yeah. Yeah. The Shallows. It's called Sh4:31by Nick Carr or something like that. but4:32Nicholas Carr, but it's a New York Times4:35bestseller and like I normally don't4:38read anything else except for the Bible4:39or like my pastor's books, but I'm like,4:42"Nah, man. There's something where I'm4:44just like I'll I'll park somewhere and4:46I'll forget." And I'm like, "What the4:48heck is wrong with me?" Like I'll park4:50somewhere and I'll be like, "I know it's4:52here." And then I have to like try to4:53recall it and it takes me a little while4:55to be like, "Oh yeah, I parked over4:56here." Or I'll be like, "I put my wallet4:58down and I'm like, "Where the hell is my5:00wallet?" And I'm like, why am I doing5:02this? This is crazy. But then when it5:03comes to scripture, I'm sharp. Boom.5:05I'll pull it up and I'm like, oh, it's5:07because I'm always thinking about5:09scripture and I keep recalling like,5:11what did Pastor Kim say today? Oh, he5:13said this, this. Versus like I'm not5:14going, where am I? Where? Okay, what did5:16we do in the meeting today? Like I I5:18don't do that. I'm literally like, okay,5:20the meeting went on. Cool. Cool. Like5:21information just kind of goes over my5:23head and I only focus on the gospel. So,5:25I'm trying to redirect everything. And5:27reading is really good for your brain.5:29It's super good. And I I just stopped5:31like I used to read a lot in prison.5:32After that I stopped and I just read the5:34Bible and I was like nah I got to also5:36kind of read books and stuff like that5:38you know. So5:38>> it's certain things too like losing your5:41car that's like directionally or5:42whatever but you can also you're also5:44really good at remembering names.5:46>> True.5:46>> Which is a superpower if you can5:48remember people's names. It's such a5:50superpower5:51>> because I that cuz I think I'll be like5:53that guy. What do we talk about? Like I5:55it's just taking that minute to just5:58recall what happened that day6:00>> where I don't I wasn't doing that. I6:02wasn't doing that and I was like why6:04can't I remember what I said to this6:06person and I thought I was going dumb or6:08something. Then I realized it's because6:09I'm not even putting my mind to it.6:11>> Dude, the grueling thing is so6:13interesting cuz like there was this guy6:15that I met at Muay Thai and I met him6:17twice and I've asked for his name twice6:19and I knew it was like a unique name. So6:21the third time I was like I'm not asking6:22his name again. And I sat there and I6:24was like he's he's about to come up to6:26me and I was like sit he was like6:27stretching on the other side but I knew6:28he was gonna come around to see if we6:30wanted to spar. So I was like6:32>> I was just sitting there like what's his6:33name? What's his name? And then just by6:35>> for sweating my brain for 2 minutes I6:37remembered it. It was crazy. And I was6:39like oh my gosh I can't believe I6:40remembered. You can pull it out if you6:43the grueling thing was I didn't give up.6:44I was just like I have to remember. I6:46have to remember.6:47>> That's what I did too. I was like, "Ah."6:48And it's so cuz you want to you want to6:50peek. And the way your brain is like6:52trained, it's like dopamine, right? So6:54if you don't get it right away, it's not6:56even that you can't get it. You just6:57give up. Like your brain is like, "Ah."6:59And it like ends up being like a7:015-year-old where they're just like,7:02"It's too hard." When it's not, and they7:04just got to keep trying. And when you7:05keep trying, it literally will come to7:07you. I'm like, "Dude, I'm sitting7:08there." And I remembered pastor's sermon7:11completely from start to finish on7:12Sunday. I sat there. I sat in the car7:14before I drove off. I was like, I'm7:16gonna just sit and I'm going to think,7:18what did he say? And I was literally7:20able to trace everything. And I felt7:21proud. I was like, dude, that's so7:24crazy.7:24>> That's crazy.7:25>> It's so until now I'm like repeating it7:27day and day and I can preach that sermon7:29verbatim.7:30>> Hey, now you got no excuses.7:32>> Well, I'm trying to.7:33>> If you ever if you start forgetting7:34things and be like, "Nope. If you7:36remember Pastor Kim's sermon, you could7:37remember what you have to do today."7:39>> Yeah, I I I know.7:40>> Nope. Not the gospel. Nope. Forgot.7:42[laughter]7:43>> Literally, that's what it was. Hey, if7:44it's not the gospel, I don't care. That7:46was bad. That was bad.7:48>> Hey, uh uh7:51[laughter]7:51>> the other thing that I'm trying to do is7:54I sent you guys this really crazy7:55carousel about how like t our our brains7:58are getting disrupted by time8:01>> um because we're getting so much input8:03and it's you're just on your phone all8:04day. And again, it's like your8:05dependence on it. You don't have to8:06remember where certain things are. You8:09can just open something up and doom8:11scroll whatever it is. You don't have to8:12recall memories. You don't have to8:13memorize phone numbers.8:15exercises8:18like everything,8:20>> right?8:24I'm really trying to protect going on my8:27phone an hour before bed, like just8:29getting off my phone and when I wake up,8:31usually I grab it cuz I use my alarm or8:33I like to check my Aura ring to see my8:35sleep stats, but now I don't even check8:36that and I just use like a a regular8:39alarm and it's kind of crazy. It's like8:41when you start your morning off like8:42that, you just feel way calmer.8:44>> Yes. So true.8:46>> And the minute, so today I only made it8:48to 30 minutes. I tried to make an hour8:49this morning. The minute I picked up my8:51phone, first I checked the Aura ring and8:53I was like, "Cool, I got good sleep."8:54And then I saw one text and then I just8:57was pulled into my day instantly.9:00>> That's how it is. It's like a lot of9:02people don't realize they're addicted to9:03to their phones. Like it's just become a9:06habit and you're like, "Oh, it's9:07nothing." because it's not like an9:09actual addiction where it's like drugs9:11and it has like effects and you're9:12losing your teeth and you know it's like9:14>> it's it's just but then really like you9:17you start to lose your memory. So9:18everybody who's who's listening9:20>> if you can't recall certain things it's9:23probably [clears throat] because your9:23your phone is and chatbt is like9:25thinking for you now which again is not9:28good. Um and it's like for you know I9:30think you said Jeremy but9:32[clears throat] it says the devil there9:33was a book that said like the devil9:35hates when a deep thinker9:37>> Yep. legit like pastor Kim has always9:39been saying that like he Satan doesn't9:42want you to be able to think deeply9:43because if you can think deeply then you9:45rationalize things you kind of like pump9:47the brakes on a lot of stuff where if9:49everything is impulse it's very like9:51feelings and emotion driven and all of9:54us know we making decisions based off9:56emotions always leads us to like net9:58negative like despair and like10:00destruction so yeah I'm I'm also kind of10:02taking a step back and my deception was10:04like oh I got this I read the Bible but10:07it's like Nah, like in everyday life,10:09Satan will also try to like make you10:11just overlook certain things and be10:13like, "Oh yeah, all I got to rely on is10:15the Bible," which is true, but you still10:16have to live. There's still things that10:18you have to recall. Like, if I don't10:20focus on the the meetings that we have,10:22then people may feel like, "Bro, he's10:24not even listening. Like, what the10:25hell?" And it can close people's hearts.10:27So, these little things, I was like,10:29"Dang, [snorts] I didn't even realize10:30that that was happening." So, it was10:32really cool and it makes me feel really10:33happy. Like, I bought four books. Like,10:35why the hell would I buy books? It's10:37like I normally don't for me I thought10:39like books were so like esoteric, right?10:41I'm like no one reads books nowadays.10:43Why would you read books if you can just10:44chat to something and the synopsis is10:46like right there and you're getting it10:48within like 5 minutes. Okay, this book10:49talks about this. Like Jeremy read a10:51book on Alex Horoszi. I was like bro I'm10:53just going to literally like chat this10:55and it told me everything about his book10:57and I was like yo this is crazy like the10:59value and all this stuff. But then again11:01if you sit there it says like like you11:04don't contemplate anymore. you don't11:05think deeply anymore if you don't read11:06the books like because you have to sit11:08there and it takes time. You have to sit11:10there and you go through these mental11:11loops and like these kind of like11:13grueling times to kind of muscle through11:15things and then it opens that11:17neuroplasticity right in your brain. You11:19it can you can grow and it can shrink.11:21And the book is saying basically like11:23it's it's like a muscle essentially and11:25if you don't work out your muscle or if11:27you work it out very little it's just11:30not going to be at optimal like it's not11:32going to be strong.11:32>> Also chi BT is just cheating. you're11:34taking steroids for the muscle. It's11:36like it's that's that that's that11:37unearned wisdom when you're uneared11:39wisdom11:39>> when you're chat gpting the summary to a11:41book. It's like you didn't have to go11:43through the figuring out process of11:44reading the book. So, you're really you11:46can you can get the answer but you don't11:48really know what it means or you can't11:49really apply it.11:50>> Right. Right. Right.11:50>> Um that's the biggest thing. you can't11:53apply it. Like even though you read the11:54summary of the Alex Hormosi book, what11:56you didn't get out of the book is all11:57the exercises he forces you to do and11:59and the struggle of forcing myself to do12:02the exercises where the information12:03stuck. Additionally, now I can use chat12:06GBT. So what I'll do sometimes even with12:09this podcast, there's this really good12:11book called Stop Asking Questions by12:13Andrew Warner. I think that's his name.12:14And that's where I really learned how to12:16like ask good podcast questions or12:17whatever in the beginning. Now, but now12:20that I understand that book, when I use12:22chat GBT to come up with questions and I12:23say apply this book, I know if ChatGBT12:26did a good job or not, instead of just12:28blindly, I'll look at the questions.12:30I'll be like, no, like it's still not12:31good, but here's how here's how correct12:33it versus just blindly being like, well,12:35Chat GBT applied the book and these12:37questions seem good, so it must be12:38right. You know, I can [clears throat]12:39give my own counterhuman thought.12:41>> So true. So bars.12:43>> All right. So now you're on your reading12:44arc. Yeah.12:46>> Yeah. So, I saw you you had Green Eggs12:47and Ham, Cat in the Hat. What was the12:49other one? Oh, uh, Hungry Caterpillar.12:52[laughter] Hey, hey, hey, bro. Sitting12:54there with like glasses in the park12:55trying to be all deep and it's like12:57hungry. [laughter]12:58Hungry.12:59>> And I have the book upside down. And I'm13:00like,13:01>> he goes to Pastor Kim. [laughter] It's13:02like I found something really esoteric13:04today.13:05>> Opens opens hop on pop. [laughter]13:08>> What does this mean? Is this about13:09Jesus? He's He's a ha hop [laughter]13:13sounding guy.13:14>> Master Kim's like today Johnny.13:17>> That's good though. Less doom scrolling,13:19more reading is probably good.13:20>> Yeah. Yeah. It's crazy. It's going to be13:22like a lost It's going to be like a lost13:24art, bro. Literally, now that I think13:26about it.13:26>> Do you think our app has been spoiling13:28people and we should come out with a app13:30book? It's a physical.13:31>> Well, eventually we will have an13:32annotated Bible which will make people13:35have to read. I think eventually we are13:37going to have daily devotionals on a13:39book. Like I still think we have to keep13:41that, bro.13:42>> But yeah, but it's still reading. Like13:43even the app, it's still reading. You're13:45not just doom scrolling through videos.13:47>> Dr. Dr. Chang had profession.13:49>> No, but here's the thing though.13:51>> What I love about our platform and our13:53people is that we do mainstages for like13:55three hours and they're locked in from13:57the from beginning to end. I don't think13:59that that's I think that's really good14:01for their brain cuz then what I'll do is14:02it's it's interactive. I'll be like,14:04"Okay, guys. So, let's think about it."14:06And I won't give them the answer right14:07away. I'll be like like even today in14:09the morning, I was like, "Who here14:10believes their their that their heart is14:12evil?" And everyone's like, "Yeah, yeah,14:13yeah." And then we're dissecting the14:14word exuges Jesus, right? Jeremiah 17:9.14:17And they're just like, "I believe my14:19heart is evil." I'm like, "You believe14:21everything in the Bible?" And they're14:22like, "Yeah, I believe everything in the14:23Bible." And then we ran this little14:24exercise. And they're sitting there and14:26they're like, "Dude, I didn't even14:27realize like that's what I was thinking14:28about myself." Right? And they come to14:30that conclusion kind of on their own.14:32And it's so I think it's a little bit14:33different. But in terms of the app, like14:36eventually we will get like that too14:37where we'll get into our app. We'll be14:39able to like we're gonna leave Zoom like14:41I think we we I see a version of our app14:43where it's just like14:45>> it's our own Zoom but it's like our14:47platform, right? Our stream is it a14:48streaming platform? I don't14:50>> will be.14:51>> So you [clears throat] know stuff like14:52that. But14:53>> anyways, that's like the whatever. But14:55yeah, I I think for now people are going14:57to do it cuz either way I know a lot of14:59you these people man I don't know if15:01it's in mainstage or like even in in Tik15:03Tok like I'll see them literally chat15:07GPT like a question or they'll chat GBT15:11arguments. So they'll be like, "Well,15:13first John says this and then like it15:15has like whatever it I'm not going to15:17tell we're not going to tell anyone how15:19we know it's it's it's so obvious." But15:22literally you'll look at it and it's15:23like, "Yeah, this dude used ChateBT."15:25I'm literally arguing ChachiBT right now15:27>> and people are just like dying. But15:29anyways, like yeah, we eventually we're15:31going to switch off of that, bro. It's15:33crazy.15:33>> Hey, the app launches the the certain15:37people on the beta list will get it in15:38two weeks.15:39>> Yep. So, if you listen to this,15:40actually, by the time this podcast is15:42out, there will be people that have15:43access to it if you are on the wait15:44list. If you're on the email list,15:46>> if anyone doesn't know what we're15:47talking about, it's free daily15:48devotionals every single day. It is15:50through email right now, but it's going15:51to be on an app. And that is reading.15:53Those are long two, three, four, five15:55minute reads sometimes. So, it's like,15:57okay, next time you want to do15:58>> three, four,15:59>> maybe at your reading page.16:00>> No, no, [laughter] they take like six16:02minutes to read.16:03>> No, they do. They do.16:03>> Like, they really do. And so, honestly,16:05next time you want to doom scroll,16:07instead pop open a daily devotional.16:09It's completely free and you should read16:10it instead.16:12>> We're reading. This is this is the year16:13of reading. We're all going to be a16:14bunch of readers. But you have to be16:56able to recall. That's the that's the16:58superpower is like recall certain17:00things. Do that with everything. Go17:02ahead. Well, what about your thing with17:04the Bible where it says read to except17:06not to understand. I'd be reading the17:07chapter of the Bible and even if I try17:09to recall,17:09>> but you don't have to you don't have to17:11understand it. I'm not saying to17:13understand just just be like, okay, so17:15let's say in 1 Samuel chapter 16 where17:18Eliab gets like, you know, rejected and17:21then King David gets chosen. Like you17:23don't have to be like, why did he get17:24chosen? You'd be like, oh, Eliab got17:26rejected, King David got chosen. Like17:28it's just recalling information, not17:31like I understand this. You get what I'm17:33saying? Just because what this does,17:35guys, that it makes your brain like17:37move. It's so It almost felt like my17:40brain was stuck for a little bit. I was17:42like, "What?" And I was like musling17:43through it. It was crazy. Like I said,17:46it was the same feeling of I I was17:48addicted to something and then like I17:52finally cut that addiction and it was17:53like that feeling of like, "Oh, I got to17:55get through it." And it felt like the17:57cigarette, you know, quitting cigar17:58quitting tobacco. The first three days18:00when I was quit, it was horrible. I was18:02like, "All right, I quit cold turkey,18:04but like I'm still feing for it." After18:06I would eat, I would get that feeling18:08like, "Oh, like I want to I need to go18:09and smoke right now." And I'm like, "No,18:11wait." But I quit already. So, oh, let18:12me just muscle through it. And then18:14later, you don't even like after we eat,18:15I don't even sense it anymore. So, it's18:17kind of it's kind of crazy.18:18>> Well, I got one more thing that you need18:20to recall. What did you do one year ago?18:22Can you recall?18:25I started the unlearn wisdom podcast.18:31I started the unknown wisdom pocket. It18:33comes so fat to my brain, man. So sm.18:35But anyways, yeah, it was18:37>> No, you cheated. You looked at the the18:38>> No, I didn't. No, I didn't. I didn't. I18:40wrote the outline. I didn't look at the18:42outline.18:42>> It says one year right at the top of it.18:44>> No, it doesn't.18:47[laughter]18:48>> No, but yeah. No, I said it. I said it18:50before. Mark my words. mainstage to18:53yesterday. What's today? The 15th. The18:5516th. Today's the 16th. On the 15th, I18:58said, "Hey guys, did you guys know it19:00was one year ago that we started Unlearn19:02Wisdom podcast? JT, you were there.19:04Angelo, you were there. All the mods,19:06your Ellis, you were there."19:07>> Wow. He can remember the mods. All19:08right.19:09>> They were there for you. I'm trying. I'm19:11not as dumb as I may look stupid, but I19:13ain't stupid. [laughter]19:15>> I was I was a p that was in prison one19:17time. I was playing they in in19:19Mississippi, they had Xboxes, right?19:20because they shipped us out because the19:22governor Arnold was like, "You guys got19:25to leave out of here. We're going to19:26make California life or prison." So,19:28people who didn't have life or life19:29without parole ended up getting shipped19:31out. So, we went to I went to19:33Tallahhatchee, Mississippi, and um19:36[clears throat] 270 yards. And I19:37remember them giving us Xboxes and stuff19:39like that, right? And so, this one black19:42dude, he was old, OG black, I think it19:44was in his 50s, and he he was playing19:46since like not Super Nintendo, but19:49Nintendo. Do you do you know there's a19:50Nintendo and then there's a Super Nick?19:53Yeah. Like like OG like Atari style,19:56right? And that was like that was when19:57Street Fighter came out first time out19:59there. And so he's playing like Sega20:01Genesis. He played all these things.20:03Anyways,20:04>> we get Street Fighter and he's playing20:07one of the Asian homies, which is which20:09I ended up selling up with some20:10Vietnamese dude from Orange County. And20:12he was playing him and then we were20:14like, "Bro, this black dude is going to20:15lose, bro. Like homiey's Asian, you20:17know, he's good." Like I was all20:18stereotypical, you know. And [snorts]20:19then all of a sudden the dude had20:21glasses on. He's old again. Old dude20:24patch of white hair. Bro was just20:26whooping him, beating the hell out of20:27him with rayou. Just oh you can't,20:30right? Beating his ass. And then later20:32like the dude was just like, "Yo, how20:34did you get so good, OG? Like what the20:36hell, man?" And he's like, "I may look20:39stupid, but I ain't stupid." And he like20:40pushes up his glasses like it's the I20:43may look stupid, but I ain't stupid. He20:44puts I'm like, "Dang, y'all are so20:46funny." So that's where I got it from.20:47But yeah, that was crazy.20:49>> Yeah. But one year the podcast20:52>> one year, guys,20:53>> episode 52,20:54>> there's some crazy statistic that like20:5692% of podcasts fail in the first year.20:59Really?21:00>> Most podcasts don't even make it to21:01episode 30.21:02>> Wow. We're on 52, right? Yep. And21:05>> we're we have 133,000 subscribers. I21:09checked today.21:10>> Nice.21:10>> So it's like, dang, we're doing good,21:13man. God is good, man.21:14>> Think about it this way. Everybody21:16because of the internet and how fast21:18things move or whatever it is think that21:20your podcast is supposed to be huge21:21right when you start. But Joe Rogan21:24>> had an audience of basically zero for21:26like 5 to seven years. People don't21:29realize he just did it for 5 to seven21:30years before podcasting became what it21:33was.21:33>> That's crazy.21:34>> Yeah. So it's like a lot of people have21:35these expectations that these things are21:37h supposed to happen overnight. But like21:40for the progress of what we've been able21:41to do in one year is just bananas.21:44>> Yeah. 52 episodes is crazy.21:47>> And then not only that, it's like21:49>> we literally21:51>> I don't know. It's it's it's21:52>> when I think about podcasting,21:55>> like it didn't even feel like a year. I21:57don't know about y'all, but it felt fast21:59for for me. Like I was just like, dude,22:02what the heck? Like we're one year in. I22:05I remember setting up at our apartment22:08in downtown LA. I remember like my dad22:10building the set. I remember like just22:13picking certain things and changing22:15topics and it was just wild, bro. It's22:17like22:17>> it's crazy. It's been one full year.22:19>> One full year,22:20>> right? Yeah. And we're in a completely22:22new different spot.22:23>> Yeah.22:23>> Yeah.22:24>> That's such an upgrade, too. Like, man,22:27>> but no, it definitely does not feel like22:29it at all. Like, we'll even forget22:32episodes we did or something. We'll be22:34like picking topics like, "No, we've22:35done that one." It's like,22:36>> yeah,22:37>> it all kind of flew by, honestly.22:39>> Wow. Here's the question for the22:40audience.22:42>> Well, first of all, we always forget to22:43do this at this point. Like, comment,22:44and subscribe. That helps us out a ton.22:46>> Oh, yeah. If you like any moments from22:48this episode, leave the time stamp.22:49Comment time stamp from your favorite22:51moment. Okay.22:52>> People be click baiting us now. They put22:54like fake thing like Jeremy did this at22:56the end. I'm like, what? Did I do that?22:57Like, I'm always getting tricked by the22:59comments. [laughter] But anyways, the23:01question of the day that we'd like you23:03to answer is, what topic would you like23:05to cover? What topic would you like us23:07to cover this year? And then remember,23:10read the comments and like the best23:12ones. Don't just repeat comment the same23:13thing. Like the best ones, the ones that23:15get the most likes is the ones that23:17we'll cover. So,23:17>> no pee. Or if you want to comment, just23:20comment underneath the one that you guys23:22like to like, oh, I want this one23:23because of this, this, and this.23:25>> Yeah.23:25>> Um, also also in the comments, let us23:28know what was your guys's favorite23:29episode out of out of the whole year23:31>> out of all the 52 episodes. Which23:33episode was like the most impactful for23:35you? And maybe we might just redo one of23:37those or like do something adjacent to23:39that.23:39>> I bet it's your mom's episode.23:42>> Is it your mom?23:42>> What? I'm sorry. [laughter]23:45>> I'm talking about my mom like that.23:47>> Oh, okay. Sorry for trying to compliment23:50you. [laughter]23:52>> Do you guys remember that? I wasn't from23:53that era of like your mom jokes. Now, if23:56you don't you don't say your like if you23:58say your mama jokes, like no one laughs.23:59But like back then24:00>> times are different.24:01>> That was the thing to do, bro, was to24:03crack jokes on your mom.24:04>> Yeah. Your mom's so fat she took a spoon24:06to the Super Bowl.24:07>> Oh my gosh, bro. What was What's another24:11>> What's another one? Your mom's so fat24:12she stepped on a dollar and made four24:14quarters. [laughter] So some crazy24:18stuff, bro. No, but yeah, the funniest24:20one I heard was from some Mexican kid24:22who was bullying me. But this was the24:24funniest thing. He's like, "Your mama24:26had three eyes, so they called their dad24:29that [laughter]24:30dying, bro." I was like, "What?"24:32>> I feel like we all had the experience. I24:34know I did at summer camp where you just24:35lay down a fire, yo mom, a joke. And24:37then the kid just goes, "My mom passed24:39away."24:39>> Yeah.24:40>> Yeah. [laughter]24:41It happened to me and I just went like24:42stone cold and then they're like, "No,24:44I'm just kidding, but don't say that."24:45And I'm like, "Oh my gosh." Like I cut24:47it out of my voc.24:48>> Were you ready to like apologize?24:50>> I was scared. I was like, "Oh my god."24:52[laughter]24:53But24:53>> it's crazy.24:55>> Yeah. Let's bring it back. Yo mama. I24:56like when they prank people in stores.24:58They'll be like, "What's your name?"24:59It's like Joe. And you just know it's25:02like Joe [laughter] Mama. Joe, what?25:05>> All right, before we move on to the main25:07episode, I also remind people there's25:09scammers out there and we will never25:10invite you on this podcast. That's just25:13the that's number one. Number two, we'll25:15never pay you four grand to come on this25:17podcast because if we had four grand,25:19we'd spend it on ourselves. [laughter]25:21We need that four grand, man. Four grand25:24a guess is wild. So,25:26>> it is crazy.25:26>> So, also, if you guys are ever unsure,25:29like just25:30>> make them get get on camera. The scam is25:32basically they tell you that we're doing25:33Facebook Live. We've never done this25:35podcast on Facebook Live and it'll be25:38>> somebody who clearly can't speak English25:40on the other side hiding themselves from25:42the camera. If they don't turn on the25:43camera, if it's not Johnny Chang or me25:45or Aaron or all three of us, it is a25:47scam.25:47>> Even that with AI, even that just we're25:49not going to get on a video call for a25:51podcast ever.25:53>> We're not going to invite you on this25:54podcast.25:55>> So crazy.25:56>> Also, by the way, our emails are25:58coretheart.com. The website is25:59coreoftheheart.com. So if you're getting26:01emailed from anything that doesn't say26:03core theart even if it'sgmail.com26:06that's not us. It's going to saycore26:08email blank blanklank@coretheart.com26:11or it's not us.26:12>> We will never give you money. If26:13anyone's going to give you money it's26:14going to be me directly talking to you26:16not through like that's the only way you26:18can get money out of this company for me26:20or directly from Johnny in person. We'll26:23never ever ever give you money.26:24>> We're Asian. We don't give you money. We26:26take your money.26:27>> Yeah. Exactly.26:27>> That's a good rule of thumb for all the26:29>> scam. we will just never give you money.26:31>> Yeah. Well, they're doing this because26:33they're jumping on your Facebook.26:34They're asking you guys for control and26:36they're hacking you. That's literally26:37what they're doing. They're taking26:38control of their Facebook ads manager or26:41whatever it is and they're just jacking26:42you. So, guys, I'm so sorry. We're not26:45going to do that. Okay. Especially if26:46you don't follow me. A lot of these26:47people don't follow me.26:48>> Yeah. Yeah.26:49>> And I'm just like, dang, why would I26:50give you money? You don't even follow26:51me.26:52>> Yeah.26:52>> No, but genuinely though, and then just26:54be careful. A lot of people are using AI26:56nowadays. They're saying that people are26:58hitting them up with like my voice26:59notes. There's all kinds of stuff. I27:01will never voice note you. I'm just I27:04don't have time. Sorry. Not that I don't27:06want to. I just don't have time to talk27:07to you.27:08>> Wait, but does that mean I got You've27:10been voice noting me all night.27:11>> Yeah, that27:12>> the money I sent you.27:13>> The the the crypto27:14>> that wasn't Oh gosh.27:17>> Oh no.27:18>> Yo, people are joining in our Discords27:20putting my name and telling people, "Hey27:23guys, want to learn how to make money in27:2550 weeks?" [laughter] For the first, you27:26know, eight people that comment, "I love27:28you." I'm going to give them $8,000. I27:30was like, "All right, calm down, Bill27:31Fence. Calm down, freaking Jeff Pesos.27:35Calm down, freaking Warren. All you can27:37eat." Just kidding.27:39>> We're never going to ask you guys for27:40money unless it's like, "Hey, sign up27:42for this app."27:43>> Yeah. Never. If you love biblical27:45lessons like this, then you would love27:47my weekly Bible class. Bible class27:49brings clarity, community, and27:51consistency. There are a lot of us who27:53read the Bible, but we don't know how to27:54apply that to our lives. Consistency.27:56Also, a lot of you guys want to read the27:58Bible and you don't know where to start,28:00how to start, and therefore it kind of28:02discourages you guys to read the Bible.28:04So, every week at on Saturdays at 10:0028:06a.m. Pacific Standard Time, we go28:08through one chapter and we break down28:11every single verse and apply those28:13verses to your life. And after the Bible28:15class, we also do a group mentor session28:18where it's you can ask me customized28:20questions and anything about the class28:22and anything about your own life. If28:24this sounds interesting to you, you guys28:26can check the link in the bio and use28:28code wisdom to get 50% off your first28:30month. See you guys this Saturday at28:3410:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time. But28:36with that being said, guys, first things28:39first, right? A lot of you guys feel28:42unqualified uh in front of God. And I28:45think me personally, I felt always28:48unqualified. You know, I'm at this28:50church. Think about it. There are people28:52who are suited and booted. Never wore a28:55suit ever uh in my life. And they're28:58just very wellstudied. They don't have29:01tattoos. They're they don't have a29:02checkered pass like I do. A lot of these29:05guys are PKs, which is pastor's kids or29:07preachers kids. And so I've always felt29:09like I was out of place and not29:12qualified. And I remember pastor saying,29:15"The reason why you're qualified is29:17because you're not qualified." And I29:19never understood what that actually29:21meant. And so [clears throat] what I29:23learned and come to learn is that most29:26people feel unqualified29:29not because they're actually29:30unqualified, but because of expectation,29:33right? And so [snorts] they they they29:36think that qualification is what29:38qualifies them, but it's actually their29:41expectation that disqualifies them. And29:43what I mean by that is me thinking that29:45I have to be suited and booted, super29:47studied, cleaned up to then go in front29:50of God and be a good person and live a29:53Christian good Christian boy life.29:55That's what was actually disqualifying29:57me and causing me the most issues.29:59Right? A lot of people come to me all30:01the time and they're like, "I don't30:02study as well as you. You know, I'm I30:05didn't go to seminary school, so I can't30:07preach the gospel because of that. I'm30:09still backsliding and I didn't clean30:11myself up yet. I still have these, you30:13know, inner demons that I deal with, you30:14know, whether it's lust or or it's pride30:17or it's ego." You don't have to fix30:20those things. God is like, "Come to me30:22and I'll clean you. Come to me and I'll30:24fix you. Come to me cuz I qualify you.30:27Don't come to me when you're qualified30:28because when you're qualified, you're30:30not gonna go, you're not going to go to30:32God. The whole point of leaning on God30:35and coming to God is because you're30:37weak. You are not qualified, but thank30:40God, God qualifies the unqualified. And30:42so, um, many people think that, right?30:44But they're built they built this30:47mindset and it's usually just been kind30:49of dripfed into them from from birth30:51from this society through individualism30:54through just church hurt through parents30:57through teachers through who the whole30:58world right the systems in the world31:00tell you you have to be the best. If31:02you're not the best you're the worst. If31:04you don't have you know an education31:06you're less than. If you're anything31:08that's not this checkbox or this31:11standard you're less than. And so, yeah,31:14the the reason why you guys feel31:16unqualified is because you're focused on31:18your feelings. You're focused on your31:19expectations. And that's kind of the31:22root of a lot of things. It's not just31:23qualification.31:25It's like even just feeling like you you31:29belong somewhere, right? If you feel31:31like, dang, I'm not good enough, then31:34it's usually because you have an31:35expectation to be good enough that31:37you're not meeting. And then you kind of31:39just disqualify and like like kind of31:41almost have this negative selft talk to31:43then push you away from people and31:45isolate.31:47>> So how did you deal with it in the31:48church? Right? If pastors like oh you're31:51qualified like God calls the unqualified31:53but then you look around and you know31:56there's people that are saving people,31:59preaching better than you. So, how are32:01you like if you're in that environment,32:03it's kind of hard to necessarily accept32:06what he's saying if you're constantly32:09surrounded by people that are excelling32:11and bringing people to God and nurturing32:13people.32:13>> Well, I started to understand why people32:15were excelling was because their32:17weakness was their qualification.32:20So, these people who excelled, just32:23similar to how I'm excelling now, all32:25came to the position of I'm weak. I32:28can't do anything. And it almost gives32:30them this heart of like I suck, so maybe32:33I should start to really like think32:35about. It's like this acknowledgement32:37heart. Once they acknowledge, dang, I'm32:39not that good. That's how they were able32:40to excel. So, similar to how we we're I32:43get famous, right? People think like,32:45oh, bro just started like two years ago.32:47No, you don't see what happened behind32:49the scenes. It's been 10 years that that32:51I've been doing this just quietly32:53struggling going up and down living this32:55roller coaster sin repent you know32:57trying to deal with edification and32:59qualification and all of these things33:01and then to later kind of muscle through33:03it. [clears throat] That's what I was33:04doing at my church was I was looking at33:07pastors and I'm like oh yes they've been33:10here for a little while but like they33:12don't seem to struggle right now and so33:15they're definitely more qualified. But33:16again it's an expectation. I expect to33:20learn what what took them 10 years, some33:22of them 20 years, 30 years to learn it33:24in one year. And that's again the33:27expectation that messed me up. So Pastor33:29Kim was saying the number one thing was33:31all you have to do is live. As you live,33:34you're going to grow. Everything is33:36either a lesson or a blessing. He's33:38like, "But the issue is Johnny, the33:40enemy is trying to move you into the33:42position of a judge." And I couldn't33:44understand that for like a year. I was33:45like, "What do you mean be in the33:47position of a judge?" Cuz when you judge33:49judge yourself, when you feel like your33:52shame and you judge your progress, then33:54you become God. And he's like, "Just33:56don't be God." And I'm like, "I'm not33:58trying to be God. What are you talking33:59about? I'm just trying to be a good34:01person." And he's like, "But God is the34:03only good." So in that case, you are34:05trying to be God in that you can't34:07really do anything aside from him. He34:09would talk about John 15. He would talk34:11about, "I am the vine, you are the34:13branches." He would say, "Without me,34:14you can do nothing by yourself." Right?34:16[snorts] He would say these things and34:17it would go one ear out the other34:19because I was still my own god and I was34:21still even judging the messages until I34:23came to the position that man, no matter34:26how hard I try, I was literally not able34:29to overcome anything. That's when things34:33started to unlock for me. That's when I34:36stopped being self-reliant and then I34:38started to be dependent on God. Right? I34:40I say this all the time. If you're still34:42trying to distrust your thoughts, if you34:46still try to stop doing, you know, stop34:49sinning, you're still trusting in34:52yourself and still relying on yourself34:55to be like your own savior. We call34:57Jesus a savior for a reason cuz he has35:00to save us. A person who's drowning35:02cannot save himself. They need a35:04lifeguard. In the same stroke, I was35:07trying to qualify myself when that was35:11never my responsibility. It was God's35:13responsibility and all I had to do was35:15just accept that. But there was a part35:17of me that was like, I cannot accept35:19that because like what Jeremy was35:21saying, but this guy's doing well and35:22this guy's doing better and this guy's35:24doing better. But again, I didn't know35:25their backstory. I just saw them doing35:28hella works. I saw them hella quoting35:30scripture. I saw them more qualified35:33than me. And pastor was teaching me, you35:35got to stop trusting what you see35:36because you don't know anything. The35:38issue here is you think you know35:39everything. And based off of that35:42scattered type of like judgment, you're35:44thinking, "Oh yeah, I need to be35:46better." And so a lot of you guys don't35:48give up because you're not qualified. Uh35:52you give up because you forfeit because35:55you feel like I'm not meeting this35:56expectation. So it's just over for me.35:59And I've seen so many people do that in36:01the church. very thankful to God that I36:03wasn't one of them, right? God was able36:05to show me like, bro, it was never about36:07you. You're you're you're just not good.36:09>> You know, you're not good and you're36:11weak. And God qualifies the weak people.36:13And so, yeah. [clears throat]36:15>> Yeah. And it's all about like um your36:18perception of what being qualified is.36:19Like you would look around and you would36:21see a bunch of in your mind qualified36:23people. The pastor was saying like, "No,36:25you're qualified because of your36:27background and things like that." It's36:28like, "What are they? they're qualified36:29for like a decent loan on a good credit36:31score. Like your perception of what36:33qualification is is really dependent on,36:36>> you know, your outcome or your outlook.36:38So,36:39>> right, that's really interesting. So, I36:40guess I have a question. If, and this36:42was one of my other questions, but it36:43kind of ties in. So, do you think that36:46if all of your dreams would have came36:47true at 18, whatever your dreams were at36:50the time, um, and it's very different36:52answer for you just because of where you36:53were at 18, but if all of your dreams36:55would have come true at 18, do you think36:57that it would have been your downfall?36:59Do you think you would have even held37:00out this far?37:01>> I don't think I know.37:02>> If I wanted everything to happen the way37:04that it did, I'd be dead.37:06>> I'd be dead. I I My dream was have a37:09mountain of cocaine, like women in my37:12penthouse. I would have died from37:14something like straight up. I would I37:16had no breaks. I was literally all gas.37:18I I would just go go. I had no fear37:21whatsoever. So much so that the guy who37:23shot me, I knew he had a gun and I was37:25like, "You're not going to shoot me."37:26And I socked him in the face and he shot37:27me. Like literally my my I know myself.37:30I know that there is nothing that I37:32would have done that would have stopped37:33me cuz nobody could tell me anything at37:35that point. Just no one would be able to37:37tell me anything. I wanted what I wanted37:38and I found my way to get it. However,37:40like even though I was poor and I grew37:42up in the projects, like I always found37:45a way to hustle to make money.37:46>> Yeah.37:47>> I was always, you know, Asians in37:50general, the stereotype is kind like we37:52know how to get money. It's just we just37:54know like we can't basically, you know,37:57survive without it. So, we understand37:59that we're going to scheme for it. We're38:01going to rob for it. We're going to do38:03we're going to manipulate for it. And38:04that's just what it was. And I was a38:06cold individual where I didn't care if38:08somebody was, you know, struggling. Like38:10I have to I have to reup. So I'm going38:12to go and I'm going to do what I got to38:13do. And so I know I know that for sure I38:17would have been dead. For sure I would38:18have been dead or I would have been38:19fried. Like I would have did so many38:21drugs that like I was literally would be38:23like a vegetable which is dead anyways.38:25Right. So yeah, I know a thousand% if I38:29got what I wanted. I'm thank God that38:30God didn't give me everything that I38:31wanted. I would not be here because I38:34just I I I don't know if it's an38:36addictive personality, but it's an38:38intense personality. Just like how I go38:41hella hard for the gospel. I went the38:43same energy with everything else. Gang38:45banging to everything. Like I just was38:48there was no like 80%. It was like 100%38:51go on every single thing. And uh yeah,38:54it was it was bad. It was bad.38:56>> I bet. And it's so funny because back38:58then in your mind that would that was38:59probably your idea of what a qualified39:02gangster would be or what a qualified39:03person would be making all this money,39:05having all this success, but as someone39:07le a little less qualified to preach the39:09gospel. And now you look back after39:10everything you've been through. You had39:12to go to prison. You got punished39:13literally. And now it makes you the39:15qualified person, which is39:16>> that's crazy.39:17>> The opposite of what you would have39:18thought at the time.39:19>> Facts.39:20>> Um so like you were saying, yeah, God39:22qualifies the unqualified. You probably39:23just don't know. You're thinking of the39:25wrong qualified. you probably39:27>> perception is off.39:28>> Same. Yeah.39:29>> Okay. So, now if you're you're if you're39:32someone's sitting out there listening to39:33this and they're like, "Okay, I I get39:35what he's saying. I feel unqualified.39:37There's a lot of things that I don't39:38want to do in my life because I don't39:39feel like I'm up to par."39:41>> Like, what does what's the next step?39:43What what does that mean?39:44>> So, number one, you have to acknowledge39:46that, okay, I'm not qualified, which is39:48what you just said. But also you have to39:51because you're like that move forward39:54and understand that God is going to work39:55because of that. So the only thing and39:58the only reason why I say this if you40:00feel unqualified number one that is40:03normal. We are born flawed. We don't40:06have the answers to everything. Every40:08single person in life is just trying to40:10figure life out. So number one40:12imperfect. You're living that roller40:14coaster. You're feeling empty. All of40:16those things are indicators that you40:17could never rely on yourself. Okay, now40:20that you understand the fact that you40:21see that you're unqualified is actually40:24clarity. A lot of people are still in40:26the realm of thinking that they're40:27qualified and they're doing things until40:29their house of cards break down and and40:31collapse in front of them. Right? All of40:33us are going to have that moment where40:34we're like, "Dang, the way that we think40:36is probably not what was the right way."40:39And for the longest time, I trusted40:40myself. So, step one, you've realized if40:43you're out there, okay, I'm not40:45qualified. I'm weak. I mess up. Step40:47two, you have to start thinking about40:48what the Bible says about that God40:50qualifies the unqualified. It's not just40:52a banger, you know, thing you put on a40:54shirt, a tattoo on your body. It's40:56literally so true because look, Pastor40:59Kim was talking about this last week. He41:01spoke about 1st Samuel chapter 16. He41:04spoke about Leviticus where in Leviticus41:07there was like, you know, the Levitical41:09laws and the sacrifices and there was 1041:12cows and the 10th cow he blessed, right?41:15And like if you think about it, you41:18know, the first cow was like usually41:20when you when you go and you pick41:21animals, the first stock and what you41:24pick first is usually like the strongest41:26stock. But towards the end, like people41:28are like kind of auctioning off these41:30cows, they're like, "This isn't good."41:32But God is like, I still choose that41:33one. All these blemishes, weak, smaller41:36in weight, whatever. God chooses it. In41:38in 1 Samuel, he said the same thing.41:40Samuel who is a prophet of God sat there41:43and he was like I choose Eliab. Eliab41:46was tall. Bro had probably a chiseled41:49jawline, Dorito body. Bro was like41:52strong basically, right? And [laughter]41:56>> so all these people were like even so41:58Jesse which was his father and also42:00David's father and Nathan I'm sorry42:03Samuel who was the prophet said God this42:06is the next man in line like you got to42:09choose Eliab. Eliab is qualified. And in42:121st Samuel 16:7, he says, "Don't look to42:14his count countenance. Don't look to his42:16stature. I have rejected him." He's42:18like, "Man looks on the outside42:20appearance. God looks at the heart." So42:23he starts going through all of these42:24people, right? And and it's like like 1042:2710 people. And then he's like, "Who do42:30you have left?" And the last person was42:32King David. Now King David had no42:34countenance, meaning he was little42:36scrawny. He tended the sheep. He was42:38always dirty. He was always outside42:40playing with the sheep. He didn't He42:42wasn't a warrior. He was more like a42:44farmer, right? And so they bring him in.42:47Jesse brings him in. Samuel is like42:50whatever, right? And then God goes,42:52"That's the guy that I choose." And so42:54why I say all of this, right, is because42:56pastor was explaining, you guys may42:58think that you guys aren't qualified.43:01But that's exactly why you're qualified43:03is because you have the clarity to go, I43:06can't lean on myself ever again. And43:08that's why God becomes my anchor. God43:11becomes my stronghold. And so that's the43:13next thing you have to do is just43:15realize, wow, the fact that I resonate43:17with what they're saying here, number43:19one, is a good thing because people43:20don't even probably understand what I'm43:22saying, uh, who don't have that heart43:24posture. So that's a very good heart43:25posture. Number two, move forward. Okay,43:28God has chose me. That's different. When43:32you move with the heart of like, oh, I43:34need to qualify myself in front of God.43:36Then you live this up and down kind of43:38vicious cycle of like shaming yourself43:41then trying harder again and then43:42falling into shame again and then trying43:44picking yourself back up only to shame43:46yourself harder. It's like this vicious43:48cycle. But when you start to move with43:50dang I know that I'm not qualified but43:53God qualifies the unqualified as per43:55Romans 4:5 as per Romans 11:32 1st43:59Samuel 16 as I'm speaking then you start44:01to have this heart of going dang God is44:04going to help me. You start to move. So44:06me too when I when these words came to44:08my heart years ago I was like bro I'm44:11not qualified however God is going to44:14use people like me because when you look44:16at everything in the Bible from Cain and44:19Abel Cain was strong Abel was weak he44:23used Abel he chose Abel's sacrifice when44:25you look at you know uh uh Jacob and44:28Esau Esau was a hunter could cook44:30venison his father loved him but Jacob44:33gets the blessing the weaker mama's boy.44:35When you look at Moses, Moses has a slow44:39in tongue, can't speak well, you know,44:42is old as heck. God, I'm going to use44:44you to lead people out. When you look at44:46Paul, who used to be Saul and was, you44:49know, carrying the coats and like, you44:51know, stoning people to death with with44:53the Sanhedrin, God was like, I'm going44:56to choose that person. So, you're in44:58perfect hands. If you're struggling,45:00that's what qualifies you for grace.45:03So, does that mean Aeron's going to get45:04a bigger blessing than me?45:06>> 100%. Aaron already got a bigger45:07blessing than you. [laughter]45:11>> But genuinely though, genuinely, right,45:12you guys understand what I'm saying,45:14right? Like45:14>> it's so it's so somewhere along the45:18line, society has told us you need to be45:20strong when it was never about that.45:23Like I said, your weakness is what45:25qualifies you for help. If you got45:27everything you wanted and everything45:29went to plan, you would be God. you45:32wouldn't need God. You would be perfect.45:33You'd be strong. You would muscle45:35through the the the seasons and the45:37weather and the hard times and you would45:39lift yourself out of it and you would45:40have something to boast about. But God45:42already says, "I don't want anybody to45:44boast and only boast in me. For Christ45:47is yours." Right? We only boast because45:49of Jesus. So if you guys are struggling45:51and you feel like, let's say,45:53practically speaking, a job, oh man, you45:56know, I I applied for a hundred jobs,45:59man, what's going on? But you applied46:01with the heart of what? Like I can do46:03it. Understand what I'm saying? Now try46:06with the different heart that you have46:08which goes you know what46:10whether or not I can do it. I realize46:13that I can't. And you know what God's46:16going to bless me in all of these46:17things. Every single time people have46:19taken that right and and comment it46:22later if you guys see this. They have a46:24testimony. They go you know what Johnny46:26I heard that and I received that and I'm46:28going to move forward. And when they46:30move forward by faith genuinely with the46:32right heart posture, true biblical heart46:34posture, God has to bless it because46:37you're forcing his hand. Right? Pastor46:39Kim told me when you move forward,46:41Johnny, understand who you are. He gave46:43the analogy of Donald Trump um even back46:46then he was saying like like you know um46:49he gave this recently but he he gave me46:50analogy back then where he's like I46:52think at that time I don't know if it46:54was Bush or somebody was a president.46:55And he goes, "Imagine the pre46:57president's son." He's like, he moves47:00however he wants because he knows he has47:02CIA with him, FBI with him. He's47:04protected, right? But Johnny, who do you47:06think you are? You're not just Johnny47:09Chang. You're this precious son of God.47:12You're You don't have CIA protecting47:14you. You have angels protecting you. You47:16have God protecting you. So when you47:18move f forward, move boldly, right? Like47:21no one can touch you, no one can stop47:23you. And legit, that gave me like wings47:26to be like, wow, that's so true. And47:28everywhere I went, I was like, I'm the47:30precious son of God. God is going to47:32bless me. Not because I'm good, but47:34because he's good. And these things47:36started to work. Things started to47:38topple. I stopped being so scared and47:40going, "Oh, I'll go here only when I'm47:42prepared and qualified." No, I would go47:44even when I wasn't qualified,47:46recognizing that that's the reason why47:47I'm qualified. Because I'm not47:49qualified, God has to help me, and I'm47:51going to witness him work. And that's47:53what it is. Clippy time.47:55>> So if someone um if someone truly47:57believes they're now qualified by God,47:59right, not by themselves,48:01>> what changes would show up in their life48:03in the first 30 days, would you say?48:06>> That's difficult to say. But the number48:08one thing is you should feel lighter.48:10You should recognize like clarity,48:12right? In the first, if you hear this,48:15you should be like, "Wow, okay, it makes48:17sense." That's number one. So hope and48:19clarity should enter within the first 3048:21days. I would challenge I would argue as48:24soon as you hear it it should enter48:26right and it's not a feeling basing it's48:27it almost it's it's like a um how do I48:31say it's kind of like a cl a mental48:34clarity and a soft a light like a48:37lightness right number one uh number two48:41you start to realize that you're being48:42more bold you'll start doing things that48:45you normally wouldn't do48:46>> like you would like if it was if it was48:48hard for you to apply for jobs or doctor48:50up your resume, you'll start doctoring48:52up your res. You'll do the things that48:54you normally wouldn't do, right? Like I48:56was I I hated reading the Bible. Every48:59single time I would crack open the49:01Bible. Number one, I felt unqualified. I49:02felt like a imposttor syndrome cuz I was49:04like, "Bro, you don't even read. You49:06don't even care about the Bible." And49:07the last time you read the Bible, you49:09got to be careful, right? You were49:11reading it to like fight. you were49:13trying to find angles because you're a49:14Muslim when you're in prison to find49:17angles to like like hurt people who are49:19Christian to win and debate them, right?49:21And so I felt like this kind of inner49:23guilt. But what changed for me was I49:26just started cracking open the Bible and49:28I just started going, "Dang, this makes49:31sense." Like, "Wow, I'm reading more."49:33And then you start to just kind of49:34almost surprise yourself like, "Wo, I'm49:36moving boldly." And right there you49:39start to have this type of heart where49:40it's like it it's not me. Whereas before49:43you're like, "Wow, see I was obedient.49:45I'm doing this." You don't you don't you49:48don't tie anything. That's the third49:49thing that happens. You don't tie any of49:51the things back to yourself anymore. You49:54genuinely and you don't just say it with49:55your mouth. You genuinely in your heart49:57are clear. Like I would never do this. I50:00would never go to the prisons. I would50:02never crack open the Bible on my free50:04time just sitting here reading when I50:06could go and I could play games and I50:07could go do what I want, go work out,50:10whatever. No, I'm sitting here cracking50:11open the Bible and sitting at church.50:13And I remember just looking around50:14having like an outer body experience50:16going, why the hell am I reading the50:17Bible? And I read the Bible for 3750:20minutes like what the hell is wrong with50:21me? And I you start to do things that50:23you don't it's like not even you. It's50:25like the Holy Spirit doing these things50:27through you. And so you'll notice a lot50:28of this type of stuff within the 3050:30days. Within the 30 days, go to our50:33discord, go to our, you know, just come50:35to our congregation. How many people who50:37are even 16, 17 year olds who finished50:39the Bible two or three times? Ellis50:40finished the Bible one time, you know,50:42two times already, right? It's like50:44they're literally kids, but they're50:47finishing the Bible because they're50:48learning these type of lessons going,50:50"Oh my gosh." Like you're right. You50:52know, there are people who are rereading50:54the Bible, not reading in NIV, NLT, ESV,50:57KJV, the hardest version, these, thou,51:00arts, ye, yay, all that old English51:02stuff, and they're they're whipping51:04through it, and they're loving it, and51:05they're like, "Dang." It's almost like51:07they're in a trance. They go through it,51:08and it's like 40 chapters later, they're51:10like, "Oh my gosh." So, you'll start to51:12notice these little things that happen51:14in your life. We're hiring, guys. Core51:16of the Heart is hiring. But listen51:18carefully. We're not just building a51:20company. We're building one of the51:21fastest growing Christian communities in51:23the world. In just a year and a half,51:24this community has grown to over 351:26million strong, and we're nowhere near51:28done. Our mission is simple, but51:29massive, to build the best tools and51:31resources to help anyone in the world51:33get closer to God.51:34>> Our first immediate goal is to get a 10051:36million people into heaven. So, when we51:38say we're hiring, understand this. We're51:40not looking for employees. We're looking51:42for missiondriven A players that want to51:44change the world.51:44>> Our criteria is simple. Don't show us51:46what you could do. Show us what you've51:48already mastered. Like, if you want to51:49be the short form editor, show me the51:51millions of views you've gotten on Short51:52Form. If you want to be the podcast51:53producer, show me the shows that you've51:55successfully produced. We've learned the51:57hard way not to hire off potential. We51:58just want to hire off of peer52:00experience. People who have already52:01proven that they can perform at their52:03skill set at the highest level. We have52:04jobs available in many different52:06departments, media and content, live52:08events, and marketing. We also have52:10remote jobs and LA based jobs available.52:12If you're an A player that has mastered52:14their craft and wants to do something52:15that glorifies God, then please head to52:17the link in our description and check52:19out the job board. And lastly, if you're52:21an absolute beast at something and you52:22don't see it on the job board, please52:24reach out. I mean, you know, you might52:25be able to do it for us. It might work52:26out. So, if you're amazing at something,52:28you don't see the perfect job52:29description, just reach out. Tell us52:31what you're good at. Maybe it'll work.52:32>> Genuinely, I can't do this without a52:34team. So, I'm very thankful for anyone52:35who supports the mission. I look forward52:37to hearing from you guys. Um so what52:40what is grace and why do we need it?52:43>> So the reason why we need grace okay so52:46first and foremost grace is unmmerited52:48something you don't deserve and you52:49receive. Why do you need grace? Because52:52we don't deserve things and yet we still52:54have to receive things. Right? So for52:56example we never ask Jesus to come and52:59die for our sins. He died 2,000 years53:01ago. Right? We ask him into our lives.53:03But really what you're supposed to be53:04asking for is you to believe in those53:06things. to believe that he died for you,53:08resurrected for you, lives for you, all53:11of that. And so grace is essentially you53:14didn't do something, but you received53:16all of the blessings from somebody who53:18did something in your place. And so why53:21do we need grace? Because when it comes53:22to qualification,53:25if you were to just qualify yourself, it53:28wouldn't be grace, it would be53:29transaction, right? It says in the53:31Bible, to him who workketh, it is not53:34reckoned to him as grace, but as debt.53:36So, what this means is if you sit there53:39and I'm like, "Okay, I'm going to sit53:41there and I'm going to, you know, work53:4330 hours a week and I expect my pay to53:47be, I don't know, $1,500." Okay? You're53:51going to put in 30 hours and you're53:53going to get $1,500. You don't need53:55grace for that. That's a transactional53:57thing. That's you working for something54:00and there's a debt that needs to be owed54:02and paid, which is your salary, right?54:04grace is even if I don't work, you're54:07still gonna give me $1,500,54:09right? And so it's not that you deserve54:12it. In fact, you don't deserve it, but54:14then God gives it to you either way. Why54:17do we need that? Because that's what the54:18gospel is. I if I was to work let's say54:21with the same analogy to get to heaven54:25any of us here if we were if it was54:27dependent on our works to get to heaven54:28our obedience to get to heaven us you54:31know managing our behavior and not being54:33able to get to not being able to sin54:35let's say none of us are going to heaven54:38because we all fall short of the glory54:40of God we all mess up atheists Muslims54:43Hindu believers we all can agree on one54:47thing universally we are flawed As human54:50beings, nobody's perfect. And what God54:52needs because he's perfect is54:54perfection. You can't you can't live up54:57to that standard. But because you54:59couldn't live up to that standard, God55:00knew that. He knew you weren't55:02qualified. And in Romans 4:5, he says,55:05"But not to the person who works, but55:07the person who believes in the one who55:09justifies the ungodly. To him it is55:12credited as righteousness." So you are55:14righteous because you believe. you55:17understand that you don't deserve this,55:19but God gave you everything. And why55:20grace is so beautiful is because if you55:23recognize that you don't deserve55:25anything, then everything becomes55:28thankful.55:30Like if I feel like I'm a scumbag,55:32right? Like anything else that I get55:35outside of that is I'm going to be55:36thankful. P Dog, you guys remember P Dog55:39from Pollinsky Unit? There's a black55:41dude on the on the on the side who had55:42this state of execution. There was a55:44Hispanic dude, bigger dude, and then and55:46then Pog, right?55:47>> He he said this. He was like, "Bro,55:49they're racist here to be honest." He's55:51like, "It's the South. You know, they55:52say certain things to us." He's like,55:54"But I feel like cuz he's like, you55:56know, he was in there obviously on death55:58row, so they were going to execute him."56:00He had a day of execution just 3 days56:03before we came, right? It was crazy56:05miracle.56:06>> But he sat there and he said something56:07that really touched me. He said, "I feel56:10like I went through all of this in my56:12life, all the negative things, all the56:14evil things to end up here to hear this56:18message." He's like, "My home is not56:20here. My home is in heaven,56:22>> right?" And I was like crying legit.56:25Like that was heavy. I was like,56:27>> "How like, you know, there's there's a56:29couple times where Jesus goes, how great56:31is their faith?" Like how like their56:33faith makes Jesus who knows everything56:36go what great faith is this? I felt56:39that. I was like bro is again death row56:42unit had a date of execution and then56:46goes you know what I needed to go56:48through this to be to listen to this56:50message. He goes I'm righteous I'm56:52perfected. He's like can I shake your56:53hand? Shakes my hand and he goes I'll56:56see you in heaven. Like bro was that56:58confident to do to like see that and and57:00and what I realized was because he saw57:03that he was not qualified. He realized57:06I'm wicked and even if they drop you57:08know discriminatory and derogatory terms57:11like I'm worse than what they're calling57:13me. And they were he was able to then57:15sit there and go I understand what your57:18message is. He heard it so clearly like57:21he was flipping through the Bible. He57:22was just sitting there. I believe he was57:24a preachers's kid too. like his dad was57:26a pastor and he's like, "I ain't never57:28heard it this way before. You're right.57:30We're not sinners. We're righteous.57:31We're perfected. We're holy. We're This57:34is a man on death, row." Like, how can57:37someone say something like that? It's57:39because he realized, I'm not going to57:40trust my thoughts. You're right. I'm57:42going to trust my feel my my the word of57:44God above my feelings and my thoughts.57:46And he was able to accept this. And so,57:48why I'm bringing this up is because he57:50received grace inside of his heart. He57:52knew exactly that it wasn't anything he57:55would ever do to get to heaven because57:57he's already done. So what does he need?58:00Grace. He doesn't need qualification58:02anymore. His qualification is grace. And58:05he started to cling on to that so58:07heavily. And that's the thing that even58:09in my congregation, no disrespect, I58:11have not seen a heart like that. This is58:13a man I've never met on Pollinsky unit,58:15but he knew quite deeply who he really58:19was. an evil human being to then make58:22that impression on me. I was like, "Bro,58:24this is wild." And I understand it58:25because I went through that. I felt58:27like, you know what? There's some things58:28that I could never talk about, things58:31that I've done that I could never ever I58:32knew I was going to burn in hell for58:34100% thousand%. And yet, when I heard58:37the word Hebrews 10:14, I clinged on to58:40that because I'm like, "Whoa, I can go58:43to heaven? No way. No, not a person like58:46me." Because I knew I was so58:47unqualified. So many people's is a lot58:50of lip service. I'm noticing a lot of58:52people go, "Man, I'm I'm so evil. I'm so58:55wicked. But let you talk about them58:57though. Let you say something about58:59them. They're going to be like, "What?"59:00And they're going to get angry, right?59:02Whereas Pog was like, "I'm wicked." You59:04could say whatever you want to me cuz59:05I'm probably worse than that. That's a59:07person who really understands who they59:09really are as a human being. Wicked and59:10evil and deserve death. He had a date59:13like they were going to execute him59:14three days before. It means he came to59:17the position of just when when you stand59:19in front of death, guys, like there's59:21nothing that matters. It don't matter59:23how much rent and debt you have left.59:25All that matters is damn, am I going to59:27be able to go to heaven or not. That's59:30that's why death is so humbling in so59:32many ways, right? I used to think I was59:34the ish. I thought I was gangster. I was59:36I wasn't scared of anything. And then I59:39got shot by a 45. And the first thing I59:42thought about was, "Oh my gosh, I'm59:44going to die.59:45And I started to legit have a panic59:47attack right there and be like, I'm not59:50ready. I'm only 16 years old. Like I59:52don't got blasted like, oh, am I going59:54to And I started to literally feel59:56right. And the first thing I started to59:58do when when they say your life flashes1:00:00before your eyes, that's a real thing.1:00:02Like you start I started to think about1:00:03when I went and got baptized in a1:00:05Catholic church when I was a kid and1:00:07like went with my friend cuz they had a1:00:08little camp thing and I went with him1:00:10and I got baptized there and I was like,1:00:11"What the heck is this?" Like this is1:00:13kind of scary. Like I just and I don't1:00:14know why like through my brain I was1:00:17playing all these like intram like it1:00:19was it was only within like a minute but1:00:21I was remembering all these intricate1:00:23details of certain things that happened1:00:24in my in my life from my dad giving me a1:00:26hug to like all kinds of stuff and I1:00:29realized that God allows that to happen1:00:32so that when you plant the seed when1:00:34people are about to die that's why the1:00:35gospel never returns void. I believe1:00:38people will sit there and think about1:00:39those things like why did I out of all1:00:41things think about being baptized at a1:00:43church when I got shot. You know what1:00:44I'm saying? Like there's a reasoning1:00:45behind these things. And so when people1:00:47say and it's multiple people when they1:00:49have the NDEs, near-death experiences,1:00:51they'll sit there and be like, "Bro, my1:00:52life flashed before me." And that's why1:00:54it's so pivotal for us to preach the1:00:56gospel because they may not expect it1:00:58right then and there, and they may not1:00:59accept it right then and there, but I1:01:00guarantee you that God is going to allow1:01:02them to extract that seed, which is the1:01:04word of God for when you preach to them.1:01:07You know, I knew another person too who1:01:08was like, "Man, bro, like I I was dying1:01:10and I thought about you." And I'm like,1:01:12"What?" And I thought about when you1:01:13said Jesus made us righteous and1:01:15perfect. And I'm like, "Bro, that's1:01:16crazy." He again, a Buddhist guy going1:01:18against me was like, "Bro, I don't1:01:20believe in God." Was able to then think1:01:22about those things when he almost died1:01:23cuz he got shanked like 30 times. He1:01:25almost died. And he was like, "Bro, I1:01:27remember you saying that." And so I'm1:01:29just like, "Bro, if you preach the1:01:30gospel, guys, I believe God will work.1:01:33He just he just he just will, you know?"1:01:35So yeah,1:01:36>> it's so crazy. I always remember like1:01:38your description of how you said you1:01:40felt when you got shot for some reason.1:01:42However, you said it just really stuck1:01:43with me when you said it felt like1:01:44getting tackled or like you were on the1:01:46top of the world. Nothing could stop you1:01:48completely invincible and then instantly1:01:50on the ground like oh my god felt like1:01:53you got hit by a bus. Like I actually1:01:55just got shot. This actually just1:01:56happened. It was like your your lock in1:01:58moment of like this is real. I don't1:02:01know why that's so like now I'll see1:02:02something horrible like on Instagram1:02:04sometimes you'll see someone get shot or1:02:05something. Yeah.1:02:06>> And I'll just think of like you telling1:02:08that story of like that's what they're1:02:09feeling right now. Yeah.1:02:10>> Like that that this could never happen.1:02:13>> Um but then it did.1:02:14>> I have a super random question. You1:02:16don't have to take too long to answer1:02:17it. But wait, so he really thought that1:02:19you think that he thought he deserved to1:02:22die? Like he thought Do you know what he1:02:25did any chance? He he said he killed1:02:28people1:02:29>> that like was like on some serial like1:02:31serial killer stuff. I I think1:02:33>> and he was just at the point where he1:02:35knew he deserved that.1:02:37>> Yeah. I mean he he just was a calm1:02:39spirit. He's a big dude but was just1:02:42calm was like, "Yeah, man." You know,1:02:45like I deserve to be back here. That's1:02:48just what I remember him saying.1:02:50>> And he's just like, "Just the way you1:02:51put it, man. like I've never heard it1:02:53preached like that and I know that I1:02:55deserve X Y and Z and I'm just like and1:02:57he obviously, you know, as inmates you1:03:00guys don't go into detail. We know this,1:03:01right? We don't go into details about1:03:03certain things, but he was just1:03:04basically like, yeah, I I I basically,1:03:07you know, deserve to be here and I1:03:09killed people. That's all he said. And I1:03:12was like, got it. But he just gave those1:03:15vibes of like,1:03:17>> you know what I mean? He's done some1:03:18crazy stuff and yet he was just calm and1:03:21he was like, I genuinely1:03:24never have heard this message. I think I1:03:28had to go through all of this for then1:03:30God to lead me here. Like he pieced that1:03:33puzzle together. Like I normally am1:03:34doing that with people like you know God1:03:36did this so you could and they're like1:03:38like they unlock he was like unlocking1:03:40it himself and I was like shocked. I was1:03:42literally like, "Yo, this is this is1:03:45amazing." And this is what happens when1:03:48somebody sits there and goes, "I'm1:03:49really this." Now, for the viewers, cuz1:03:51I already know they're going to go,1:03:53"Well, I never had to unlock like that.1:03:55So, does that mean I'm not safe?" No,1:03:56that's not what it means. That's not1:03:57what I'm saying. Not every one of us has1:03:59to come to God exactly that same way.1:04:01But what I'm saying is you have to at1:04:03least come to the position that to1:04:05realize that I'm unqualified.1:04:08It's normal that I'm unqualified because1:04:10I was never supposed to qualify myself.1:04:12And through that, God can be my1:04:14qualification. And that's basically what1:04:17this guy went through. He tried to1:04:19qualify himself. He ruined himself. He1:04:22he saw he thought, "Okay, I can't1:04:23qualify myself. I'm no longer1:04:25qualified." And then when the word that1:04:27qualified him, which was the gospel,1:04:28came, he was like, "Oh, that's what it1:04:31was. That's in that order. You have to1:04:33go through that." We all come out trying1:04:35to qualify ourselves because1:04:36individualism is rampant in this world,1:04:39right? And trusting in yourself and1:04:40self-reliance and self-dependency is1:04:42rampant in this world. And then when you1:04:44walk that path, it gets ugly and then1:04:46you fail. During the failure part is1:04:49where clarity has to come. It's very1:04:51fragile, but it's it's pivotal as well.1:04:54That can someone come and drop that1:04:56seed? And when they drop that seed, are1:04:58you prideful and react to it and go,1:05:00"No, I still can try harder." Which a1:05:01lot of people do, and they flick that1:05:03seed away. They're like those four soils1:05:05in the in the ground. Or they're like1:05:08brother Pog who's like, "Bro, wow, that1:05:11was me." Bro is literally reading me1:05:13like a book right now. And bro is1:05:15literally explaining it to me. And he1:05:17said it, too. He's like, you know, I1:05:18would have never have listened to1:05:19anybody else who was a preacher,1:05:21>> right? He's like, "You're you you look1:05:23like us. You've been through it. Like1:05:25how am I going to tell somebody, you1:05:27know, like I think it was Jake Bodin who1:05:28was saying like the worst thing that he1:05:31sees is when people go in there and1:05:33they're like, "Yeah, I understand you1:05:35inmates, you know, like1:05:36>> I I I lost a girl when when I was in1:05:39high school, you know, and they're like,1:05:42"What the heck?" Or they'll say1:05:44something crazy like, "Uh, you know,1:05:46we're all criminals. I just didn't get1:05:48caught." You know,1:05:50>> you remember that? Like he said that1:05:51>> classic line. I've been to a few prisons1:05:53with you and I've heard that now. It's1:05:54[laughter] like1:05:55>> it's crazy in that moment1:05:57>> you were qualified.1:05:59>> Yeah.1:05:59>> Compared to some of these people preach1:06:01the gospel.1:06:02>> But but but what's what's crazy is that1:06:04I didn't think I was like I thought if1:06:06you were to tell me while I'm sitting in1:06:08YA while I'm sitting in CDC I'm thinking1:06:12you know God is like I'm going to use1:06:13I'm qualifying you. I'd be like, "What?1:06:15You're You're putting me in the most1:06:16unqualified place with the most1:06:18unqualified people in the world,1:06:20[laughter] and you're going to tell me1:06:21I'm qualified? What the faith is going1:06:23on right now?" Right? I would trip. But1:06:25now that I understand it, it's like,1:06:27"Yo, that's so true. It's so true."1:06:29>> That's so funny. You're in like a like a1:06:31horrible prison riot fight and you're1:06:33like, "God, not like this. Qualify me1:06:35any other way?" [laughter]1:06:37>> No, you're getting qualified tonight,1:06:39Johnny.1:06:41Okay, so let me let me play it out in a1:06:43scenario. So you're like, "Okay, God,1:06:44I'm unqualified. I don't have a job.1:06:47>> I still got to apply to resumes, right?1:06:50I still got to like apply to jobs and I1:06:52probably I don't have any skill set, so1:06:54I got to like do some work to like learn1:06:56these skill sets to do better in these1:06:57job interviews and prove to someone that1:06:59I deserve to work for them." Yes. Right.1:07:01So you start to do all this work to1:07:02improve yourself, right? Similar to how1:07:04you're like, "Oh, my brain is mush. I1:07:06got to read books."1:07:07>> Right?1:07:09How much of that then is1:07:12you suddenly doing all this work to, you1:07:14know, get a job because you need to put1:07:16food on your table and pay your rent1:07:17versus allowing God to quote unquote fix1:07:20it, lead the way.1:07:21>> Yeah, you can still do all the work and1:07:23still allow God to also guide the1:07:26outcomes, right? I'm not saying at all,1:07:29guys, that you shouldn't plan. It says1:07:31in Luke, what person when they're trying1:07:33to build a house doesn't sit down and1:07:34plan and write out blueprints,1:07:36basically. So you're supposed to do1:07:38those things, right? Because if I'm1:07:41reading these books, like that would be1:07:43works, right? I shouldn't be reading the1:07:45books. I should be reading only the1:07:46Bible. No, that's legalism at the end of1:07:48the day, right? God will use any type of1:07:51outlet. The whole point is heart1:07:53posture. It's not having an expectation.1:07:56It's going instead of before where you1:07:57would apply for jobs and it would be1:07:59like, "Yeah, God, you're going to help1:08:01me. I'm going to apply." That's still an1:08:03expectation. It should be God, I know1:08:06you're going to help me. I don't know1:08:08how you're going to do it. I don't know1:08:09if it's going to be through these jobs,1:08:11but I know one thing. You're going to1:08:12help me because I'm not qualified. And1:08:15so, if it's these jobs, give me the1:08:17heart to also accept that it's from you.1:08:20If it's not through these jobs, give me1:08:22the heart to say hallelujah, amen, and1:08:24wait for you, too. That and then move1:08:26forward. Yes, I'm going to apply, but1:08:29you leave the outcome with God. It's1:08:31always like that.1:08:33Well, I want to clear up I just want to1:08:35clear up like a definition. So like when1:08:36you're saying like God qualifies the1:08:38unqualified is that like qualifies you1:08:40to get into heaven, qualifies you to1:08:42preach the gospel,1:08:43>> all of that.1:08:44>> All of that because it's like when1:08:45you're saying am I oh am I qualified for1:08:47this job? It's like I just want to I1:08:49just want people to have the1:08:50distinction. It's like1:08:51>> you know like heaven ain't a job1:08:53application like you can't do anything1:08:55to qual you're like oh I'm going to1:08:56prepare for this job. The whole point is1:08:57you can't God is going to qualify you.1:09:00You can't qualify yourself for heaven.1:09:01So the job thing, it just it is a good1:09:04example, but it's a different parallel.1:09:05It's like you can let God just um like1:09:08help you, but you still have to go get1:09:09qualified for that job. It's not how you1:09:11can get qualified into heaven. It's jobs1:09:13are very works based.1:09:15>> Well, what I'm mean though is like the1:09:18other might be like, how do I know if1:09:19it's truly God's calling for me in my1:09:21life? And and usually work is tied into1:09:24that because it's like1:09:25>> that's how I got to put survive in this.1:09:28>> So you so you won't know. That's what1:09:29I'm saying. That's the whole point. The1:09:32journey is something that you have to1:09:34walk through and God will work through1:09:36it. That's why you guys should never1:09:38worry about qualifications. You should1:09:40worry about transformation. You should1:09:42worry about I'm going to move forward to1:09:44God and he's going to help me whichever1:09:46way that he helps me. Yes.1:09:49>> Hey, the the tone in that yes makes you1:09:52[laughter] seem so1:09:52>> No. No. Cuz he went like he's like1:09:54>> No, no, no, no, no. Your your tone1:09:56>> You did it three times.1:09:57>> Your tone your tone is1:09:58>> Turn off the cameras. as we run into1:10:00fade [laughter] in the park.1:10:01>> Come back.1:10:02>> So, my my next question. [laughter]1:10:06>> Um,1:10:06>> no, [clears throat] I'm just kidding. Go1:10:07ahead.1:10:08>> Okay. So, it's to both of what you guys1:10:11are saying1:10:12>> to just move forward and things and1:10:14know, okay, I'm unqualified. Heart1:10:16posture, I understand that, but1:10:18>> and obviously my heart posture wasn't in1:10:20the right place when I chased an alcohol1:10:21business. But I'm just going to be very1:10:23honest here, too. even when I was1:10:26helping you build core of the heart in1:10:27the very very early days if I don't know1:10:30if I could like so you said the whole1:10:32purpose of of the Bible really is1:10:35dependence on God1:10:36>> and preaching the gospel1:10:38>> but that does not mean I have to be a1:10:40minister1:10:41>> right you know it's like you could be a1:10:42barber whatever it is there's a bunch of1:10:44ways that you could use your skill sets1:10:47>> I don't I'll be honest and say like1:10:49let's say that I started helping you1:10:50with core of the heart and it was like1:10:52you were like it's not growing1:10:55Jeremy, I can only give you $5.1:10:57>> You wouldn't help me.1:10:58>> It would have been very hard for me to1:10:59>> turn off the cameras right now.1:11:01>> I'm just running the1:11:02>> Hold [laughter] on.1:11:03>> Is that why you wouldn't take a salary?1:11:05>> No. No. Hey, no. I I bet big.1:11:08>> I know. [laughter]1:11:09>> I work for free, buddy.1:11:11>> Let's not get it twisted here. Hey, I1:11:13didn't like that. Hey, but listen.1:11:14>> I didn't like that. [laughter]1:11:15>> No, I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm1:11:16kidding. But but you get what I'm1:11:18saying, right? It's like it's like if1:11:20you were to be like Jeremy, you just got1:11:22to work for for me for free. God1:11:24qualifies the unqualified.1:11:27>> It'd be a tough pill for me to swallow1:11:29and I don't know how long I could work1:11:30for free.1:11:31>> That's what you think now.1:11:34>> How do you know that?1:11:35>> Because I have a giant rent bill to pay1:11:38every month.1:11:38>> No, that's not true, Jeremy. It's true.1:11:41Yes. But you don't know that. You're1:11:43saying all you're you know what Jeremy1:11:45is. I'm going to call him now. His new1:11:46name is Mr. Hypotheticals.1:11:48>> M1:11:49>> Rogus.1:11:49>> No, no. I'm Mr. Help the audience. That1:11:52should be my name.1:11:53>> Mr. Hyper helped the audience.1:11:54>> He's a doubting Thomas.1:11:56>> No, no, no. It's not that. It's not1:11:57that.1:11:57>> Hey, do you know what? Hey, what chapter1:11:59is doubting Thomas in? [laughter]1:12:01>> Listen, all I know1:12:02>> what's the story?1:12:02>> All I know is he's there and he's you.1:12:05>> Hey, but what's the story? What's the1:12:06story of doubting Thomas?1:12:07>> Doubting. Okay, just1:12:09>> for everyone else who doesn't know,1:12:11because obviously I know. [laughter] I1:12:13believe doubting Thomas was [snorts] he1:12:15doubted he was doubting Jesus's1:12:18resurrection1:12:19>> until he could like touch the wounds.1:12:21>> Hey, and then1:12:22>> he got you, bro.1:12:24>> He'll stop doubting.1:12:25>> You thought you were going to get him.1:12:27>> Sleep I see sleeps fiercely texting him.1:12:29>> Doubting Thomas, you know, his fate1:12:31wasn't so happy that they I'm pretty1:12:32sure they like speared him, right? They1:12:34killed him with stakes,1:12:35>> bro.1:12:36>> So So I don't want to see you doubting1:12:38too much more doubting Jeremy.1:12:40>> What are you going to say to that,1:12:41Jerome? lose. Bro,1:12:43>> don't be a doubting Jeremy.1:12:44>> Rare. A rare L. Very rare. [laughter]1:12:46Jeremy takes very No, he doesn't take1:12:48L's. That's a rare L.1:12:50>> Crazy.1:12:50>> I do not know. I do not know where in1:12:52the Bible.1:12:52>> Well, God qualified the unqualified1:12:55right here. Oh, [laughter]1:12:57>> dropped. The thing is God was literally1:13:00witnessing. God was literally just1:13:02funneling information into his heard1:13:04that before. Now, no. My grandma grandma1:13:07and dad used to say that all the time1:13:08growing up. Like, don't be a doubting1:13:10Thomas. M1:13:11>> I don't know where in the Bible it is,1:13:13but I know the story.1:13:14>> Oh jeez, you nailed the story.1:13:16[laughter]1:13:17>> It's in the New Testament. No, I'm just1:13:19kidding. No, but yeah. No, no, I I get1:13:21what you're saying, though.1:13:22>> I would say in a lot of ways maybe it1:13:23was like like who knew where it was1:13:26going and then God blessed it. You know1:13:27what I'm saying? So you could look at it1:13:28from that.1:13:29>> Jeremy, he would have given you the1:13:30heart. I already know for something. You1:13:32wouldn't be happy, bro.1:13:35That's what you're missing. You got to1:13:36tell people how much you love me.1:13:38>> I do love you,1:13:39>> right? Genuinely. And you got to be1:13:41like, I love you, man. Like, this is God1:13:44made this what what Jeremy and Aaron1:13:46don't share is that it's like this this1:13:49place that we work at is like perfect1:13:52for all of us. Like all of our our1:13:54personalities,1:13:56it's just the like working at Core of1:13:58the Heart, I'm not trying to fluff our1:13:59own feathers, is the best. Even for me,1:14:01I'm like, "Yo, God, you really are1:14:03real." Again, we didn't have1:14:05expectations. He that's that's a1:14:07manageable expectation to be able to1:14:09want to be paid to pay your bills is not1:14:12that's not there's nothing wrong with1:14:14that.1:14:15>> Again, with that being said, you guys1:14:17too wanting to pay your bills is1:14:20important, right? Jeremy, you don't1:14:21realize, bro, you came in with a lot of1:14:23faith, too. You did, bro. You If1:14:26anything, I was a doubting Thomas. He1:14:29will come in legit and1:14:32>> No, legit though. He would come in and1:14:33be like, "Bro, you're going to be the1:14:36biggest." And I'm just like, "Bro," he's1:14:38like, "I don't think you fathom." And1:14:40I've heard this from Aaron, too. I don't1:14:42think you fathom like how big your1:14:44growth is. I think it's kind of nuts.1:14:46And then when I start to hear from other1:14:48people aside from them, cuz I'm always1:14:50negative, Nancy, right? I'm always like,1:14:52"They have to say that they work for me.1:14:55I have an underworld mindset, so like1:14:56they're going to say certain things,1:14:58right?" But like when I started to hear1:14:59from other people who were other1:15:01influencers who were like wait how long1:15:03you been doing social media like five1:15:05years. And I'm like no like a year.1:15:06They're like what? Like their mindset is1:15:09like what the hell are you talking1:15:11about? You got 4 million across the1:15:13board. Like we had was it Caleb too? He1:15:16was like bringing this to like other1:15:17influencers and they're like how many1:15:19paid ads is Johnny doing?1:15:22>> This is all paid. And then he's like no1:15:24this is he's like it's all organic. No1:15:27way. there's no way that all this stuff1:15:29is organic. There's no And I'm just1:15:31like, "Huh, dang, they're right." You1:15:33know, like you guys were right. And so1:15:35you did have a lot of faith. You came in1:15:37and you went, "Bro, just give me six1:15:39months, bro. Straight. Give me six1:15:42months. I'll work. I'll prove myself to1:15:44you." I was like, "Bro, you don't have1:15:46to do all I just want to help you. I do1:15:48this for, you know, this what I do. I'm1:15:50going help you out. I have this other1:15:52guy named Aaron. Bro is just amazing.1:15:55viral specialist, social media1:15:57marketing, all that is his specialty.1:15:59Cool. He we're going to have to pay him.1:16:01You don't got to pay me. We'll just work1:16:03it out. Sure enough, we're paying him.1:16:05Aaron was happy. Aaron grew. We all grew1:16:07together. It was amazing. And it's like,1:16:10you did have a lot of faith. So, there1:16:12are people though, I understand why you1:16:13asked that question, where they sit1:16:14there and they go, you know, what am I?1:16:16What do I do? More than the1:16:18hypotheticals, guys, you have to have1:16:21faith. And what I mean by that, so how1:16:23do how then do you have faith? Very1:16:24simple. You sit there and you go, "You1:16:26know what, God? No matter what happens,1:16:28I know you're going to help me because1:16:30you're my father." Just guys, don't even1:16:33think about it on a faithful level.1:16:35Forget move. Remove spiritual out of1:16:37everything. If he is your dad, what good1:16:41father is not going to provide for you?1:16:43Like he is the best father. Take the1:16:47best father in the world. They can't1:16:48even hold a candle to God. And they do1:16:51the most, right? Aaron has a great1:16:53father. like Jeremy all of us like we1:16:55genuinely they try to provide for us and1:16:58yet at the same time they still fall1:17:00short in their ways they can't provide1:17:02everything for us but God can so you1:17:05have to think about it like you have to1:17:06move with that heart not an expectation1:17:08but faith and go you know what1:17:10[clears throat] it doesn't look good1:17:11right now but reflect I think reflection1:17:16is another thing how many times did I1:17:18think when I got out of prison it's over1:17:20for me I'm not going to make money1:17:22[clears throat] dang I can't make1:17:23there's times where I couldn't make1:17:24rent. There's times where you guys1:17:26couldn't make rent and somehow you still1:17:28have a house to be able to sit and watch1:17:30it and have time to watch an unlearned1:17:33wisdom podcast with a gang member and1:17:36two nerds, you [laughter] know,1:17:39to be able to preach the gospel, right?1:17:42And Jeremy's like, "Turn off the1:17:44cameras." Right? Guys, listen. What I'm1:17:47saying here, they caught us straight.1:17:48Both of them. Sorry. to him [laughter]1:17:52>> just cuz I never stabbed anyone.1:17:55>> Hey, it's never too late. Get him.1:17:57>> But basically, right, it's like think1:18:00about your worst thought. Did that ever1:18:02actually happen? I would say no. My1:18:05worst thought was I'm going to die here.1:18:07I'm going to be strung out on the1:18:08streets. I'm going to have to rob people1:18:10for a living types. Those were all my1:18:12thoughts that would run through my brain1:18:13when I'm sitting here, you know,1:18:16submitting a hundred different freaking1:18:18applications to people from Home Depot1:18:20to Walmarts, all these other places1:18:21where they're like, "Nope, nope, nope,1:18:22nope, nope." And I'm like, "Dang, I'm1:18:24dunzo. I can't even get a job at Dell1:18:26Taco. I can't even get a job at Taco."1:18:28But no, no disrespect to the people work1:18:30there. But I'm saying like, I can't even1:18:32be like a freaking custodian. I can't1:18:34like what the hell, man. What's going1:18:37on? And I thought again, I had to just1:18:39do the worst stuff. And little did I1:18:41know that that was all BS. Every time1:18:43you guys think about that, right? Just1:18:45think about, reflect a little bit. When1:18:47was it that my worst thought came to1:18:49fruition? I think it's very rare. I'm1:18:52not saying it doesn't happen, but I1:18:54would say like it's very rare that that1:18:56actually happens cuz your mind is your1:18:58biggest stumbling block. Check the1:20:24link in the description for signup1:20:25instructions. There's another thing that1:20:27I also see where people go the opposite1:20:30where they're they're not like they lean1:20:33on God so much that they're like, "I'm1:20:34not going to I'm not going to get a job.1:20:36I'm not going to plan anything. I'm not1:20:39going to do anything." That's also1:20:41wrong, brothers and sisters. Let me1:20:43explain why. Right? You still have to1:20:45live. You still have family that you1:20:47have to provide for. There are things1:20:49that you have to do as a human being, as1:20:50a man, as a woman to be able to meet the1:20:54grace of God. Right? A lot of people1:20:56don't realize and I and I went through1:20:57this phase early on where I just wanted1:21:00to do nothing but preach the gospel1:21:02which seems good in itself but I didn't1:21:04do anything. Pastor Kim was like get a1:21:07job. At first he said don't get a job1:21:09and then all of a sudden he saw that1:21:11part of me. He's like get a job. And I1:21:12was like no I got to preach the gospel.1:21:16And it was actually because I was1:21:18calloused. I didn't want to feel1:21:21rejected about getting a job. I did not1:21:23want to feel like, dang, I gotta work,1:21:26bro. Like, I rather just make money1:21:28doing this, right? But during that time,1:21:31I had to get a job.1:21:33>> Why did he first tell you not to get a1:21:35job? Cuz that also would have messed1:21:36with me. I'd be like, you just told me1:21:37not to get a job and look at me working1:21:39so hard for the church and scrubbing1:21:41toilets and1:21:42>> because it changed me, right? So in the1:21:45in the beginning he wanted me to learn1:21:47to how to maintain a job and by doing1:21:51that was kind of building these little1:21:53skills for me right not going to work1:21:55there but learning how to communicate1:21:57with people doing the hard stuff the1:21:59grunt work doing the things that you1:22:00don't want to do learning the discipline1:22:02and then finally when I learned it he's1:22:04like you're ready and I was like I don't1:22:06want it cuz now I've gotten comfortable1:22:08now I'm just good here and I'm good with1:22:10the ego stroking and the patting on the1:22:12head going wow you're reading in the1:22:13Bible and it feels good. And so I would1:22:16find ways like I literally remember1:22:18googling and I'm like how to make money1:22:22like serving the gospel and people are1:22:24like you can be a chaplain and you can1:22:26do it and I was like oh I'll go get my1:22:27chaplain and I went and got my chapency1:22:29and I realized all of their stuff is1:22:31volunteer work. You don't get paid1:22:33[laughter]1:22:33and I was like1:22:36and Pastor Kim's gangster. He's like you1:22:37want to be a chaplain right? God gave1:22:38you like go be a chaplain. Go do it. But1:22:41the truth is, no, you gotta get some1:22:43money. And and he's like, "You got to1:22:44start paying rent." Because I was living1:22:45at church for a little bit. He's like,1:22:46"You got to start paying rent." I was1:22:49like, "Paying rent for what? A cot?"1:22:52>> Yeah.1:22:53>> It's a literally cottage. Like, I'm just1:22:55laying on this little thing, dude. I'll1:22:56just buy my own cot, you know? It's1:22:58like, but he's like, "No, you got to1:22:59start paying rent." And you have to1:23:00really start depending on God. Because1:23:02he saw he saw that all I wanted to do1:23:05was hide behind the gospel and not work.1:23:08And so, you know, through that I was1:23:10able to I worked at a sushi restaurant1:23:13for a little bit, right? He's like,1:23:14"I'll have one of the brothers hook you1:23:16up. Go and work."1:23:17>> They fired him because he ate all the he1:23:19ate all the food.1:23:20>> Yeah. All the oonies. I was They're1:23:21like, "I ordered a whole pack of1:23:23Oonies." I'm like,1:23:24>> "I don't know what happened." But1:23:26genuinely though, like I started to work1:23:28at a sushi restaurant with one of the1:23:30brothers and I started to learn how it1:23:32was to be hustling and bustling and I1:23:34started to hate because the the manager1:23:35there was hella mean to me. And I had to1:23:37learn these skills of like being told1:23:40what to do by worldly people. And I1:23:42started to see like after having these b1:23:46this restaurant and these businesses to1:23:49be like, dang, I really like am far1:23:52behind. And and through that I would I1:23:55would I would it motivated me to grow.1:23:58Like a lot of my growth came from cuz I1:24:01had no skills, guys. I came out and I1:24:03had no skills whatsoever. Well, I didn't1:24:06know what to do. I I everything I ever1:24:09did was manipulative and scheming. That1:24:12was the only thing that I was extremely1:24:13good at, right? And at the same time,1:24:16it's like what is that going to do for1:24:18me? And so I learned that if you're1:24:22working a little bit to gain a lot,1:24:24you're a scam artist. And I realized1:24:26that was my mindset. I wanted to work1:24:28very little. I would find days of like,1:24:31oh, put me in this section because this1:24:32section only has tables and it doesn't1:24:35have big old like it doesn't, you know,1:24:37a lot of people coming in and I would1:24:38and I had to like learn like dang, I1:24:40can't be doing this type of stuff. Like1:24:42I had to learn how to work with team1:24:44with the team with people who I didn't1:24:46agree with with people who thought they1:24:47were all that with people who were weak1:24:49and I had to carry them. All these1:24:51things I was learning and I was like man1:24:53this is what pastor Kim wanted to tell1:24:55me but he couldn't like explain it to me1:24:58cuz how do you explain that to somebody?1:24:59You just got to jump in and be like yo1:25:01I'm learning this. I'm learning that. I1:25:03remember my feet like hurting because1:25:05I'm ripping and running and like1:25:07forgetting orders and getting yelled at1:25:09and then fighting with people and being1:25:10like, "Yo, do this and then managing1:25:12certain people and guiding people and1:25:14being a head server and all this stuff."1:25:15And I'm just like, "Dang." Like this all1:25:18this propelled me into into really1:25:21thinking about like how to run a team,1:25:23how to help people. It grew me in ways1:25:25that I never thought it would. And so1:25:28>> that's why he was saying that, you know,1:25:29and guys, you can learn a lot. Like1:25:32God's system is still going to work.1:25:34God, everybody in the Bible never just1:25:36sat around and did nothing. People made1:25:38tents, you know, people were physicians.1:25:41People were tax collectors. Everybody1:25:43has to do something. Like you got to do1:25:45something because you still got to pay1:25:46rent and you still got to do those1:25:48things. But through that, you have to1:25:49serve God. And and and part of that is1:25:52development. When you develop yourself1:25:54to be a good tool for God is such a1:25:57beautiful thing.1:25:58>> A small detail. Did you say you were the1:26:00top server? Yeah.1:26:02>> Dang.1:26:03>> Yeah. I was dishing them things.1:26:04>> Employ of the month of [laughter]1:26:07>> legit. I I was like [clears throat] I1:26:08was sprinkling like um a little bit of1:26:10crack on the soup.1:26:12>> Like Johnny, the food you're bringing is1:26:14addictive.1:26:14>> Yeah. They're like [laughter]1:26:16so good.1:26:19Sorry guys. I'm just kidding. [laughter]1:26:22Is there any part of your personal1:26:25belief that thinks that God prefers the1:26:28more disciplined version of you than the1:26:30weaker version of you if you're with the1:26:33right posture or the more sober version1:26:35of you versus the addict version of you?1:26:38You know,1:26:38>> I would argue as crazy as this is1:26:41because it's biblical. I think God1:26:43prefers prefers the most broken,1:26:47unethical,1:26:48wicked, undisiplined, selfish version of1:26:52you because that's the version he died1:26:53for. [snorts]1:26:54>> Dang.1:26:55>> Literally, that's the version he died1:26:57for. He wasn't like, "I'm going to wait1:26:58for Jeremy Kim to be amazing and then1:27:01die for him." He died 2,000 years ago1:27:03knowing all the hairs on our head and1:27:04the sins in our body. He knew. He knew1:27:07like I know Johnny's going to be like1:27:09that and that's why I died for him. And1:27:11so for me, I'm very thankful to God.1:27:13Like again, it comes down to1:27:15expectation. We have this expectation to1:27:18be the best. And that's what distances1:27:21us from God. Because when you don't meet1:27:23that standard, you're not going to go to1:27:26God, right? We do this with friends.1:27:28Dang, I said I was going to do that for1:27:30him. Ah, slowly you start to avoid their1:27:32calls and avoid like distance yourself1:27:35in terms of proximity because you're1:27:37just like, uh, I don't I don't feel1:27:39good. like feel like a fraud, you know,1:27:42and you just isolate. In the same way,1:27:44we do that with God. When we sit there1:27:46and we want to be the best versions of1:27:48ourselves and we want to show how great1:27:51we are and we can't live up to that1:27:53standard, we naturally start to punish1:27:56ourselves. We start to isolate ourselves1:27:58and distance ourselves. And so for me,1:28:00I've learned like don't run from God1:28:03during those times. Run to God, right?1:28:05Like, Lord, I'm wicked and you knew.1:28:09It's that I don't know. Nine times out1:28:12of 10, guys, it's not you guys. It's not1:28:16God who's saying you suck. He knew and1:28:19he died for you still. Forsook his son1:28:22still. And it's just you don't know1:28:24that. You don't remember that or you1:28:26forget. I would say most people don't.1:28:28They don't. It's not that they don't1:28:29know. They they forget. They forget the1:28:31goodness of God. And that's why God1:28:33every single day has to remind us and1:28:36tells us, "Renew your mind." What does1:28:38that mean? It doesn't mean just just be1:28:39obedient. Is to be like, "Think about my1:28:42heart. Think about me. What I did for1:28:45you and and I chose you even though you1:28:48were all broken. I knew you." Nothing1:28:50surprises God. He knew what we were1:28:52going to do. He knows what we're going1:28:53to continue to do. And yet, he doesn't1:28:56count it against us. Why? Because he1:28:58died for us. He knew that we were going1:29:00to be disobedient. It says in Romans1:29:0111:32, he justified everybody be while1:29:05they were ungodly. And he concluded all1:29:08of us into unbelief, which is1:29:10disobedience so he can show mercy. The1:29:13fact that you're the way that you are1:29:15and broken in that way. You need mercy1:29:17because you'll never get to heaven,1:29:19right? Trying to undo all those things.1:29:20You've already committed those crimes,1:29:22committed those sins. Some of these1:29:23things you can't take back. And God's1:29:26like, I wanted to give him mercy. So1:29:29yeah. Okay. So, my question is,1:29:32>> why should I try to be good when it1:29:34feels like evil's winning? And so, what1:29:38I feel like in the world right now, and1:29:39I'm not trying to get political, is1:29:40there's certain things that just feel1:29:42like evil is winning.1:29:43>> Yeah.1:29:44>> It's just social media highlighting the1:29:46best version of your looks maxing,1:29:48gambling,1:29:50>> you know, it's uh everybody just showing1:29:52off their perfect relationship and I1:29:54don't have a perfect relationship.1:29:56That's one area. The other side is1:29:58literally the people that run our1:30:01government are the most evil people in1:30:02the world. They're that destroy the1:30:04lives of women's and children and none1:30:06of them are going to go to prison for1:30:07that. It genuinely feels like and then1:30:10there's wars, right? And it's all these1:30:13>> just hatred left and right on the1:30:15internet. It's just for everything. It's1:30:17the way you look, your beliefs, doesn't1:30:19matter. So in that situation, um1:30:24I can see why a lot of people feel like1:30:27like what's the point? So what do you1:30:29what do you say to that person? It's1:30:30like why should I even try if there's no1:30:33point, right?1:30:33>> Um because the end matters, right? Like1:30:37if you know the Bible,1:30:39all these things are normal. Like it's1:30:42just people don't know the Bible. If you1:30:44read the Bible, you will see the1:30:46condition of the human heart. It is1:30:47literally a mirror to your heart. So it1:30:49talks about two things. Jesus the1:30:51Messiah who has to come and cleanse us.1:30:54But why is why does he have to cleanse1:30:55us if we're clean? He cleanses the dirty1:30:57evil people. So us being dirty and evil1:31:01should not shock us just like it doesn't1:31:03shock God. Think about it. He could snap1:31:05his fingers and stop all of this. Why1:31:07doesn't he? A lot of people ask that1:31:09question to me. You know what, Johnny?1:31:11Why why won't he just stop those types1:31:13of things? Because God honors choice at1:31:16the end, right? If he loves you, he's1:31:18going to love you enough to let you walk1:31:20away and choose your route, right? And1:31:22so, of course, people are going to1:31:24suffer through this. But for me, for1:31:26example, I think California Youth1:31:28Authority was the worst thing. It was1:31:30literally hell on earth for children,1:31:33kids, adolescence. You had to be um you1:31:38had to be uh uh admitted into it. You1:31:41you have you have a psych evaluation.1:31:43They put you at SRCC or NRCC wherever it1:31:46is and they will evaluate you and there1:31:50you're called a juvenile ward just like1:31:52a mental ward. You're called a juvenile1:31:54ward. So I would think why would God1:31:57allow that? But you know what's1:31:58beautiful? Through places like that I1:32:01received the testimony to then be able1:32:03to be the light of the world to help1:32:04other people. If that didn't happen and1:32:06that wasn't available I don't know where1:32:09my life would be. I don't know if I1:32:10could relate to millions and millions of1:32:13other people because that's the one1:32:14thing that I think I have is like I'm1:32:16able to relate to any type of person1:32:19because everybody has been through some1:32:22type of like form of prison. Maybe not a1:32:24physical one, definitely an emotional1:32:26one, definitely a mental one, definitely1:32:28a spiritual one, right? And so, um, it1:32:32comes down to, you know, there is an1:32:35end. It just doesn't look like it. And1:32:38that's what the what the devil has done1:32:39really well with is to make people go,1:32:42you're winning right now, so that means1:32:44you've won. That's not true. That's not1:32:46true. If any you can see this in1:32:48everyday life. There's basketball games.1:32:50Do you guys remember when um like was it1:32:54Cleveland? They played against uh Golden1:32:58State and they came back like from a1:33:01three.1:33:01>> Yeah. Yeah. 13 or something.1:33:03>> Yeah. Some crazy stuff, right?1:33:04>> Statistically impossible.1:33:05>> Impossible. and LeBron and them did1:33:07that, right?1:33:08>> In the same way, that's kind of how it1:33:10is, too. You know, God is triumphant.1:33:12What does that mean? He has to make it1:33:14seem like people are winning to then1:33:16triumph over it. Cuz if he just boob1:33:19bops people up and smacks them up, it's1:33:21like it's too easy for him. So, he's1:33:23going to go, I'm going to let you handle1:33:24the middle. Right now, we're in the1:33:26middle. God says, I am alpha, omega,1:33:28beginning and end. He doesn't go, I'm1:33:31middle, beginning, middle, and end. He1:33:33allows certain things for Satan to do1:33:35his job. Again, guys, Satan is not He's1:33:38an exposer. He exposes what people rely1:33:41on. So, all these PDF files and1:33:44whatever, they rely on themselves. These1:33:46government whatever people who are evil,1:33:49they rely on their own thing. Like, he's1:33:51just allowing him to do his job to go,1:33:53"Hey, you you're like a spotlight.1:33:55You're gonna highlight what people1:33:56believe in and what their heart posture1:33:58is." They're only winning because that's1:34:01that's a shortterm thing. like there is1:34:04eternity whether people believe it or1:34:05not. People don't just go to the1:34:07fertilizer pit. They don't just be like,1:34:09"Oh yeah, you know, everyone's just1:34:11going to end up dead and like worm food1:34:13and you know, it's like that's not1:34:14necessarily true." Because if that's the1:34:17case, then why would anyone live by1:34:18morals moral moral code and ethics and1:34:21stuff like that? Why? If nothing matters1:34:23afterwards, why even be a good person?1:34:26Why do we have this inherent nature to1:34:28want to be good? Why like why don't we1:34:30just go out and do whatever we want,1:34:32right? Okay. It's like very rare that1:34:33people are actually doing that, right?1:34:34That's why they say the elite people are1:34:36doing it. But more importantly than1:34:38anything, you know, you be good because1:34:40your father is good. You realize none of1:34:43this changes the fact that God is good1:34:46and that takes faith. All this is a1:34:49battleground literally for faith. We1:34:52don't struggle with flesh. It says we1:34:54struggle with principalities and powers1:34:56in high places. Principles essentially1:35:00that's the issue. They have their their1:35:01principles and because they're like1:35:03that, it's not going to shape our1:35:05principle. We're going to move forward1:35:06and love on God and we're going to trust1:35:08in God and that's why we do good. Like1:35:10it's much easier to be evil. It's much1:35:13trust me, I've walked both sides of the1:35:14fence. It's much easier to do whatever1:35:17you want to do. It's way harder, but the1:35:20reward is so much better. When I see1:35:22people change, when we go to places like1:35:24El Paso, when we go and we partner with1:35:26other, you know, churches like Victory1:35:28Outreach, when we when I start to see1:35:29people change, like it's kind of cool.1:35:32It's such a flex to be like, dang, all1:35:35this darkness and people are able to1:35:38actually change their hearts and like1:35:40grow and not be when it's so much easier1:35:42to just be negative to then sit there1:35:45and change and then see their whole1:35:47family's lives transform on top of that.1:35:49their kids, their wives, their spouses,1:35:51all these people. It's so so amazing.1:35:54So, I mean, [clears throat]1:35:56you technically have free will. You do1:35:58whatever you want with it, right? But1:36:00for me, what I've I've you know, they1:36:02say they say in the Bible, right? For1:36:04us, we will serve the Lord, right? It's1:36:06just how it is, guys. And serving God is1:36:08so important because when you serve God,1:36:10he serves you. Like genuinely, our lives1:36:12are blessed. Like I I could never obtain1:36:15this level of blessing that I have right1:36:17now. If I died today, I'd be happy1:36:19genuinely because I'm able whatever the1:36:21amount money that we made, none of that1:36:23actually matters. But I know that I1:36:25could never obtain this level had I had1:36:27followed myself and did do the evil1:36:30things in life. Now, it looks like1:36:32they're obtaining those things. But1:36:33again, what's a 100red years of or what1:36:36is it 80 years, you know, of living1:36:39however you want. That's like a speck1:36:41compared to eternity. These people,1:36:43sadly, I don't see them as happy. I feel1:36:47like if they're doing all of those1:36:48things and they have a conscience or1:36:50they have like a spirit, how can they1:36:52not feel that they're wrong? They've1:36:54become numb to it and that's called1:36:55reprobate, which is really sad. Those1:36:58things are difficult. I'd rather not be1:37:00like that. You know, the fact that you1:37:01guys can feel certain things and like1:37:03still feel remorse is such a blessing.1:37:06There are people out there who don't1:37:07feel it. They're literally I've met a1:37:09lot of people like that. Just stone1:37:10cold. And that's sad. That's not only1:37:13psychopathic. It's just downright sad if1:37:17you don't have a filter. If you don't1:37:19have any sense of anything,1:37:22like you're literally not human anymore.1:37:24You're literally just a robot. You're1:37:26just like, "Oh, I do this because this1:37:28is what it is. I don't care." That's not1:37:30a way to live. I've been there, too. And1:37:32so, it's it's such a horrible feeling to1:37:34be like, you know, and and I think James1:37:37Ston put it really well when he was on1:37:38our podcast. He was like, "I know1:37:40millionaires. I know billionaires and1:37:43they're not happy. So don't let your1:37:46eyes deceive you just because bro got a1:37:48yacht and you know their own island and1:37:50all that. They are not happy1:37:52individuals. I guarantee you. And then1:37:55you go to places like Africa, Brazil,1:37:57third world countries where they have1:38:00nothing to their name. They've never1:38:01even tried Coke, like Coca-Cola. They've1:38:04never tried chocolate. They've never1:38:06tried all those things. Stop it, Jeremy,1:38:08you child. They've never tried1:38:12Coca-Cola. Okay. Cola. Colola as as a1:38:14Korean say. Cola or sida. Sida. Okay.1:38:18Cider. Which is1:38:19>> Why are you always making fun of1:38:20Koreans?1:38:21>> Cuz I'm Korean adjacent.1:38:22>> No, you're not.1:38:23>> Yes, I am.1:38:24>> I was created in a Chinese factory. You1:38:27know how they're like sugar spice and1:38:29everything. They were like kimchi and ku1:38:31jang and cola and a little bit of fly1:38:34lice and then came out me. Bro, you1:38:37don't know how many people come up to me1:38:38and be like, "Are you Korean?" These old1:38:40Aimas.1:38:42And I'm like, "No, I'm a Chinese." Oh,1:38:47dirty dirty Asian dirty.1:38:50>> No, you very dirty. By you, you go. You1:38:54go. You li1:38:57>> Just kidding, guys. I love my Korean1:38:59people, but you guys know what you do.1:39:01I'm just kidding.1:39:02>> You know what you did?1:39:03>> What did I do? Didn't the Chinese like1:39:05colonize the1:39:07>> Koreans just got colonized with Japan?1:39:09China.1:39:10>> You never say sorry.1:39:12>> That is the thing that Chinese people1:39:14and Korean people always say about1:39:16Japanese. [laughter] You never say1:39:18sorry.1:39:19>> That is true. They never did say sorry.1:39:22>> Hey, I'm just going to say if you look1:39:23at the history books, the Japanese were1:39:26whing.1:39:26>> Yo, they were gangster.1:39:28>> Like, no, not even gangster. Satanic.1:39:30>> Yeah, they were they were wild.1:39:32>> Craziest. Yeah, Nanjing and all that.1:39:35>> The Koreans were also really really1:39:36crazy that the Americans call that they1:39:38call it the silent war because no one1:39:40will talk about it because it was the1:39:41most horrific terrifying Japanese so1:39:44mean. You never say sorry. [laughter]1:39:47Drop sorry in the comments right now if1:39:49you're Japanese.1:39:49>> Never say sorry. They they gave us sushi1:39:52and they that's their way of saying1:39:53sorry.1:39:53>> If you're Japanese, drop a sorry in the1:39:55comments. Say I'm sorry to my Korean1:39:57brothers and sisters. [laughter]1:39:59>> Reparations.1:40:01But I understand why my grandparents1:40:02were upset,1:40:03>> dude. My Yeah,1:40:04>> cuz I was like, "What's the big deal?"1:40:06>> Yeah, same. I was like, "They I love1:40:08>> Game Boy is fire. [laughter]1:40:10>> That should be enough of a sari."1:40:14>> But yeah. No, I mean, anyways, it all1:40:18comes down to, you know, you're not good1:40:20to receive anything. You're You got to1:40:22be good because God is good. You think1:40:24about other people. Yeah. Name one thing you love1:42:00about a Aon.1:42:01>> Yeah. More more glaze.1:42:03>> And you can't copy each other. It's got1:42:05to be very original. It can't be like1:42:07>> I like that he ask good questions. It's1:42:09got to be very deep and thoughtful. You1:42:11got to really1:42:12>> pin.1:42:13>> I like this one. This is a good one. the1:42:15real ones who made it.1:42:16>> They're like, "I'm so proud that he he1:42:18beat his homosexuality, [laughter]1:42:20>> dude." No, they be saying the craziest1:42:22stuff. There was a comment that said,1:42:24"I'm so proud of Aaron and Jeremy for1:42:26admitting their struggle with joking."1:42:28[laughter]1:42:29>> Joeling.1:42:30>> If you don't know, you got to1:42:31>> You got to look it up on your own time.1:42:33>> You said joking.1:42:35>> That was the comment. [laughter]1:42:37>> Joking is crazy. You know what that is,1:42:39Johnny?1:42:39>> No.1:42:40>> Just urban dictionary later.1:42:42>> No, I'm okay.1:42:43>> How do you spell it? spelling me. How1:42:44would you spell1:42:45>> J E L K. [laughter]1:42:46>> Okay, let's let's Okay, and that's the1:42:49end of the episode.1:42:51>> And that's the end of the episode and1:42:53the last episode1:42:55>> cancelled. Just kidding. All right,1:42:57guys. With that being said, you guys1:42:59already know we always end unlearned1:43:01wisdom and unlearn wisdom fashion with1:43:03the prayer. So, let us bow our heads.1:43:07[clears throat] Father God, thank you so1:43:09much for giving us this insight. Lord,1:43:11through the Holy Spirit, we can see that1:43:12the podcast is also reaching so many1:43:14people. Lord, we are1:43:32people that can't do anything well, but1:43:34Lord, you chose us. Although we felt1:43:36unqualified, Lord, you qualified the1:43:38unqualified. And for that we're forever1:43:40thankful. We are people that truly need1:43:43to remember this every single day. So1:43:44Lord, please allow us to recall these1:43:46things in the tough times. Please allow1:43:48us that the reason why we're unqualified1:43:50is actually what qualifies us for your1:43:52grace, Lord, to walk in your mercy, to1:43:55walk in this newness of life. All of1:43:57this is done because of Jesus and his1:43:59blood with the guidance through the Holy1:44:01Spirit, Father God. With that being1:44:03said, we leave everything in your hands,1:44:04Lord. And in Jesus name we pray. Amen.1:44:07>> Amen. Amen.1:44:09>> Guys, remember the app is dropping soon.1:44:12>> Very, very soon. Merry1:44:13>> go in the link in description, join that1:44:14weight list, join the email wait list,1:44:16whatever it is, and you'll get alerted1:44:17very soon.
