Transcript of How Emotionally Immature People Distort Reality
Forrest Hanson
0:00For the emotionally immature person,0:02reality is really pretty optional.0:05Meaning that if I'm an emotionally0:08immature person, I'm going to interpret0:11life through the lens of how it makes me0:14feel. So if you say to me, and I'm an0:18emotionally mature parent, "Mom, I don't0:20want you stopping by without calling0:23first." Okay. To me, that feels like0:26I've been slapped.0:28uh that feels like I'm not loved. And so0:30I might say something like, "Oh, well, I0:32must just be the worst mother ever if I0:34can't stop by to see my own0:37daughter." Okay, which makes you crazy.0:39Um because that's not at all what you0:42said and that's not at all what you0:44meant. But because of the egoentrism and0:47because of that that emotional way of0:50interpreting reality, what I feel is0:54what I know to be true.
