Unlearned Wisdom by Johnny Chang
0:00Welcome to another episode on the0:01Unlearned Wisdom podcast with yours0:03truly, Johnny Chang. And in today's0:06episode, we're actually going to be0:07talking about why loneliness drives us0:09crazy and how protecting your space can0:12slowly turn into isolation. Why being0:14connected doesn't make us necessarily0:17feel close. And towards the end, I'm0:18going to show you guys how to be at0:20peace even when you're alone.0:22>> Is there a story that you've maybe0:23somebody that you've mentored that dealt0:26with loneliness? I think we all deal0:28with loneliness, but like0:30the only thing that I've noticed is my0:32my thoughts amplify at night time.0:35Whenever I was lonely, I was super super0:38like my thoughts were like microphone to0:41my brain type of thing. It was so loud.0:43I couldn't stop my thoughts. So, I0:46learned actually like I discovered this0:48when I was locked up that most of my0:51thoughts were really really loud0:53especially at night time. And you have0:55time to like think and there's no like0:57distraction and there's no it's all just0:59reflection. And I learned that most of1:02the time people think that they're1:03thinking, but they're actually1:04listening. Listening to who?1:07>> Listening to the enemy.1:10No, they're listening to yeah, genuinely1:12the enemy or like those demonic things1:14because you guys ever be driving and1:16then like you think crazy stuff like1:18what if I just slammed on the brake1:20right now or like rammed my car into the1:22wall or like some crazy like that. And1:24it's like why would you think of1:25something like that, right? Why is it1:27that like everybody when they're young,1:30adolescent, or at least a lot of people1:32I know have had suicidal thoughts as1:34kids? Yeah, I know.1:36>> thought of like if I died,1:38you know, my parents wouldn't miss me1:40probably. I'll show them. You ever had1:42that thought?1:43Yeah. Yeah, as of I and I've had it at1:46young age. But and we've all had1:48different like your situation it's like1:50of course you you might would have those1:51thoughts, but it's like mine wasn't as1:53bad as yours and yours probably would1:55wasn't as bad as Yeah. mine. Because1:57that's the end result of Satan. He wants1:59to drag us to death. And if you're not2:01saved and you die in your sins, then2:03where do you go? The fiery lake of fire,2:06they say, right? So, I think he he just2:08does that to everybody.2:09>> Why do little kids think it though? Like2:11why do we think of that as kids as the2:13first thing to like payback to your2:14parents? Like why do we think2:15>> you're young.2:16Le- legit, like think about it, right?2:18When he tried to like get rid of Moses,2:20what did he do? He did a decree with2:22Pharaoh and it was like all the male2:24children get tossed in the in the Nile2:26River.2:27They were babies. When Jesus was a baby,2:30King Herod was like, "Oh, slay all the2:33Jewish kids. All the Jewish babies that2:35are that are boys, you know?" And so,2:37Satan always tries to get us young. I2:39mean, that it only makes sense cuz2:40you're literally like malleable, right?2:42You're like they could mold you easy2:44easily influence, you're easily2:46persuaded. And so, uh Satan will try to2:49mold you. So, yeah, makes sense. I just2:51wonder why kids have that thought, you2:53know what I'm saying? Like I just2:55answered you. You sound like somebody2:57I'm just kidding.2:59No, but I'm saying like um3:01like uh3:02like no one was like, "Yo, the payback3:04to your parents is by killing yourself."3:06Yeah. And I wasn't I was too young Do3:08you know why? Because you knew that deep3:11down they cared about you.3:12And like the only way to rebel, it was3:14to be like, "All right, I'm just going3:16to like do something to myself3:17horrendously." Like even though my3:19parents like would like didn't like me,3:22but I knew like, "Man, they're like3:25bluffing. There's no way." Cuz you're3:26just taught in the world that parents3:28love their children.3:30It's just how it is. Even if they're3:31like the worst parents. Like my dad3:32would still try to be like a good parent3:34in whichever ways he could. And I'm3:36like, "I'll show him." You know, it's3:38like you just want to win at the end of3:40the day. I think that has to do more3:41with like protecting yourself and gain3:44and regaining control. Cuz as a kid,3:46you're literally stripped of your3:48control. You're told where to sleep,3:50what to wear, what to eat, what to do.3:52And the only thing you have control of3:54is like, I'll just I'll just stop3:56everything then. And it's like, that's3:57how you win back and earn back your3:59control.4:00I would say that, too.4:02I think a lot of times, too, it's also4:04like um4:05you have that feeling of I never asked4:07to be brought into this world.4:09And it's like, I can't you I never asked4:11to be brought into this world, and then4:12you're telling me what to do at all4:14times. It's like, what's the point? And4:16then so I could take myself out of it.4:18Like, you're all that makes sense. Wow.4:20That's crazy.4:20>> control thing, though. It's like the one4:22thing I have control of. Yeah. Facts.4:25And the enemy. Control and the enemy.4:27So, why does isolation or loneliness4:29drive people crazy? Because your4:31thoughts amplify when you're alone.4:33Right? Like, because there's no4:35distraction whatsoever. You could be4:37distracted, you could cope when you're4:39working, when you have kids, when4:41everyone's awake, and you can't really4:43pay a lot of attention to those things.4:45But as soon as you're alone, that's when4:48things like you basically have to face4:51reality, and you kind of have to like4:53reflect, right? So, your your thoughts4:56then go4:57uninterrupted, and there's no4:59distraction. And when that happens, it's5:01very dangerous, right? So, That's why5:04there's things like, you know, have you5:05guys heard of like cabin fever? Yeah.5:07Like you're out for way too long, and5:09then you just start to go crazy. It's5:11like when you when you're alone for too5:12long, and there's no like5:14basis of reality, like other humans to5:17kind of ground you. So, people just go5:19crazy. Yeah. Have you heard of also that5:22like room where it's like no sound? You5:24can basically like hear your heart5:26beating. That's crazy.5:27>> go sensory deprivation.5:28>> Yeah. And people go uh insane if you5:31stay in that room for like there's this5:33room where you can't stay in for more5:35than like 10 minutes before people5:36literally lose their mind. Sheesh.5:38>> Yeah. The ultra quiet room. Okay, but my5:41question is5:43God gave us this brain to have these5:45thoughts.5:46Why is it always that it goes like when5:48you're alone, it goes to negative, it5:50seems like? Because it's the enemy.5:52We're never taught to actually distrust5:54our thoughts, that's why. If in fact,5:56we're taught to trust and believe in5:57ourselves. The mantra of the world is5:59what? Believe yourself, follow your6:01heart, listen to your heart, trust6:03yourself essentially. You got to be6:05motivated and determined and that has to6:07be pulled out of you. Like every single6:09speech, if you guys look at the ESPYs or6:12you look at like, you know, fighters or6:14you look at anyone who gives like a6:15valedictorian type speech, it's always6:18"Believe in yourself, guys. I trusted6:20myself, you know, and when when life6:23gives you, you know, lemons, you make6:25lemonade." Like you have to do6:26everything. And so, when you're taught6:29this, then your thoughts go unchecked6:31and then like you think you're thinking,6:32but you're actually listening, right?6:34And so, the Bible speaks about this. We6:36have to take every thought captive and6:37bring it to the obedience of Christ,6:39which means bring it to Jesus. Bring it6:41to the word of God. But people don't6:43teach that in this world. They're like,6:45"If it's inside of you, that's like your6:47genius. That's your thought. That's your6:50feeling or your gut Exactly, that's your6:51guidance. That's your moral compass,6:53your ethical intuition." Whatever it is6:56that they spin it, basically it's to get6:58you to listen to that. And how many7:00times have you guys followed yourselves7:02and like literally was like, "Dang, I7:04shouldn't have done that. Like I7:05shouldn't have followed myself." It's7:07It's really like net negative where you7:09follow yourself and you get something7:11bad. Like that's happened to me. "Oh,7:13I'm going to join a gang." Boom. Ended7:15up like really, really bad. "Oh, I'm7:16going to chase this woman." Boom. Ended7:18up feelings hurt. "Oh, I'm going to do7:19this drug." Boom. Ended up addiction.7:21Like it's always like that. What about7:23when there's times where people can be7:25like, "Well, my gut led me to positive7:29outcomes, right? You're listing a bunch7:30of negative thing negative things, but7:32I've trusted my gut and I got this job7:35or met this person that led to this or7:37it led me back to church. That was, you7:39know, even like my gut led me to7:42positive things as well.7:43>> That that can happen obviously, but then7:44it's like like I said, is it a net7:46positive or a net negative? So, write7:48down do this thing. Write this Write7:50down every single time, if you can7:52remember, that you trusted your heart7:54and your feelings, and is it a net7:56positive or is it net negative in terms7:58of like is it is it Did it have a8:00positive outcome or a negative outcome?8:02I can almost guarantee you it's a8:03negative outcome. Like every time I8:06followed myself and everyone that I've8:07mentored, they've all I'm not going to8:10do homework. Like I feel like I8:11shouldn't do homework. Boom, I I was8:12uneducated. Like literally that That's8:15just what it is. Women who are like,8:16that's my man. I'm going to share my8:18body with him. I'm going to lose my8:19virginity to that person. That first8:22love that they felt so strongly about8:24and defended to their families and all8:26that is no longer their first love. It's8:28actually like their arch nemesis type8:29vibe. So, again, hearts are are8:32deceitful. Feelings are deceitful. And8:34not every single feeling, but most8:35feelings are, and they change. And if8:38something keeps changing, there's not8:39You can't depend on something that's8:41wishy-washy. There's just no way.8:43And then also, we're taught that like8:45our thoughts and our feelings equate to8:47truth. That's also another thing. So,8:49you know this validate your feelings8:51type of thing? Everyone's always like,8:53you got to validate your feelings. You8:54guys don't know how many people I've8:56mentored who are like, I have to break8:58up with my man. I said, why?9:00Is he not providing for you? No, he's9:02providing for me. No, he takes care of9:03me, but he's not validating my feelings.9:06And I'm like, but he's doing everything.9:08It doesn't matter. I don't feel heard by9:10him. He's not validating my feelings.9:11And I'm like, okay, but if you do that9:13though, feelings interpret reality.9:15Right? Like if you feel like you're9:17anxious, then your reality becomes9:19anxiety. It's like, oh my gosh, like I9:21I'm losing it. If you're having a panic9:23attack, even though there's nothing9:25really going on, that feeling is going9:27to then become your reality. But no one9:29That That's not biblical though. Like9:31the Bible says feelings are not reality.9:33Right? Reality is reality. Truth is9:34truth, but we tend to think like our9:37unfiltered thoughts, our unchecked9:39thoughts are reality at times. That's9:42the danger, and that's why people get9:44their thoughts amplified when they're9:45alone because it goes unchecked. Right?9:47No one is telling you, "Hey, make sure9:49that this isn't it." And so in our9:51church, we teach like think about your9:53thought. Where is this thought coming9:54from? Does this thought make you, you9:57know, closer to God or not? The issue10:00here isn't loneliness. The issue is10:02there cuz there's people who are alone10:03and they're perfectly fine. The issue is10:06are they able to think and reflect on10:08their thoughts and be like and trace it10:10all the way back to the source. Is it a10:12positive thought? Is it leading me10:13closer to God? Can do they have these10:15skills? A lot of people don't. A lot of10:17people are like every thought is my10:18thought and every thought is from God.10:20So if I follow this, they actually think10:22like it's conviction but it's10:23condemnation. They think it's, you know,10:25something that's good for them but it's10:26actually guilt and it's like literally10:28crushing them internally. So,10:30yeah, we're just not taught those10:31things. And uh10:33Satan, he loves to kind of isolate us uh10:36so that we can believe his lies. Like10:39you know, you just have to believe a lie10:40like long enough. Like most con men are10:43successful not because they con you for10:45a long time, but it's that pivotal10:47moment that they just con you and then10:49they like strip you of that thing and10:50then they take off. Like that's how10:51Satan is. He's like a scam artist, you10:53know? So if you notice, you're not10:55always lonely. It's just that little bit10:57where you're like spiraling and he gets10:59you. All of my friends who've who've11:01unalived themselves, they were always11:04alone number one and it was usually just11:06like if they11:08the ones who did who who attempted and11:09survived, they were like, "Dang, I don't11:12I I literally just had to sleep through11:13the night and I would have been okay."11:15Like it takes that one split second to11:17be like, "I'm going to off myself." And11:19then when they follow through with it,11:20it's really life or death. But there's11:22times where people make it through and11:23they're like, "Dude, I don't know why I11:24did that. I just kind of lost my like11:27rocker. I was like off my mind." And I11:29realized like I shouldn't have done that11:31and I regret everything now cuz they end11:32up in mental like hospitals and like11:35institutions, and they stay there for11:37like a couple days or like a week, and11:38then they come out again, and they're11:39like, "Man, I should have never did11:41that. I don't know what got into me."11:42It's just that little bit you get11:44distracted. So, that's why people go11:46crazy. It's just timing, unfiltered11:48thoughts. You're taught that your11:50thoughts are your thoughts, which not11:51all of them are, right? Like I said,11:53there's times where I'm praying, boom,11:55lustful thought would just enter. I'm11:56talking to my heavenly father, and a11:58lustful image will come in and I'm like,12:00"What the heck? No, this isn't from This12:02isn't from God, and this is definitely12:04from the enemy." So, he can slip these12:06things into you, too. I wonder what12:08certain things just12:11push someone over the edge, I guess. If12:13like people have these thoughts, and12:15I'm sure you've all you've all felt it12:16to a degree. And And I know what you12:18mean, like right if you were to just12:19sleep the next morning, you feel12:20completely different. Even if it's not12:22suicidal, even if you're just bad bad12:24tripping about something. Yeah.12:25>> Yeah. But I just Yeah, I wonder what it12:27is. It's just this complete isolation12:29and probably repeated exposure, but what12:30it is it just12:32pushes some people over the edge. I12:34think it has to do with people trusting12:36themselves directly. Like, how strong a12:38person trusts themselves and their12:40thoughts is going to correlate with how12:43down they're going to go through with12:45the action. Mhm. Right? So, I've noticed12:47people who are whoever Most people who12:49have unalived themselves, they trust12:51themselves to the T. Like, they don't12:54test their thoughts, they trust their12:55thoughts, right? Different T's. So,12:56like, I've learned like, man, the people12:59who really believe that every single13:01thought is from themselves end up very13:04on the other end of that, where it's13:06like they they unalive themselves. Mhm.13:08Every person that I'm like just going13:09through my mind, I know a lot of people13:11who've done it, they were all very like13:13strong, educated, smart, intelligent,13:17and they had no reason not to trust13:19themselves. And those are the ones that13:21end up really sad and depressed, cuz13:23they can't get themselves out of it, and13:24they're like trying to, and they just13:26end up like offing themselves, too. You13:28know? Yeah, and they don't open up.13:30That's another thing is when you're13:32isolated, it's okay, but if you just13:34open up to people, like I know numerous13:37people that they were like the light of13:39the party. They had like, do you guys13:40remember Robin Williams? Yeah. Like no,13:43it hit like everyone was like, what?13:46Like he was just always cool and chill.13:47I had a homie exactly like that, too. He13:50loved everybody, and he was happy, and13:52he didn't tell any anybody anything, and13:55he ended up, you know,13:57kind of, you know, unaliving himself in13:58prison. And we were like, dude, what the14:00heck happened? Like bro was always14:02positive. He was a a light, you know, in14:04all the darkness. And it's because he14:07never opened up. So, that's one thing I14:09also learned was like a lot of people14:10who say that they're going to unalive14:12themselves,14:13uh I don't think they're really there14:15yet. The ones It's the ones who isolate14:17and don't say anything, those are the14:19ones you really have to watch. Right.14:21>> Cuz who who just look like there's14:22everything's perfect in their lives, you14:24have to be careful. Because it's like14:26that's how a lot of my friends were.14:28They had a lot of money, they had14:29everything, and then all of a sudden14:30they're gone. And we're just like, dude,14:32what the heck happened? Like what? He14:34was struggling with manic depression,14:36and like, what? No, what? He was taking14:38meds? Like no one knew anything about14:40it. And it's because they didn't reach14:41out to people because they thought it14:42was weakness. They also thought that14:44they could handle it themselves, which14:45is trusting in themselves, and they14:47didn't ask anybody for help. And that's14:49literally what happens to That's what14:50I've seen. Yeah, and I see people go14:52crazy, too. Like they'll snap in and out14:53of it. Like I've seen videos of people14:55on the street where they'll be talking14:57kind of all crazy or gibberish until you14:59start talking to them, and then they15:00kind of snap into a little more a bit of15:02like a normal conversation. Yeah. And it15:04just like15:06they can be off in their own head or in15:07their own thoughts, but once you're15:08interacting with someone, it's just kind15:09of like grounding back to reality. But15:12for long enough in that isolation, I'm15:13just rambling to yourself, talking to15:15yourself, yeah, you could kill yourself,15:16you could kill someone else. You just15:17end up doing kind of crazy things. For15:19sure.15:21And a lot of it has to do with drugs,15:22too, I think. People who are on drugs,15:25especially ones that keep you up for15:27like 14 days, like bro, you literally15:30just enter a psychosis and you're just15:32like, I think everyone's against me. I15:34know a lot of people who did like meth15:36and they were super paranoid. Like, oh15:39my gosh, my friends are going to get me15:40and I got to get them for It's like15:42crazy stuff like that, bro. And so,15:44yeah, you're you're sleep deprived,15:46you're you're 10 years, you know, on a15:47bender and you're on a sick one, as they15:49say, and then you just do crazy stuff15:52after that, too. Do you guys think15:54loneliness can like genuinely develop15:56mental disorders or issues? Like15:58>> 100%15:59>> it? Like schizophrenia and stuff like16:01that?16:01>> 100%16:02>> Yeah, I think but also just like it16:04doesn't have to be the extreme of like16:05drug addict, meth heads, you know what16:07I'm saying? Think about people that16:09you've met that are just super isolated16:11for too long. It could be like an16:13elderly grandparent or something that16:15doesn't really have people that are16:16coming by seeing them every day. True.16:20at a certain amount of time, right?16:21>> Yeah. I guess my question is like what16:24do you think develops people to be16:26lonely? Like there's a million reasons,16:28right? Upbringing16:30mental issues, drugs um maybe they were16:33bullied and never had friends and didn't16:35build self-confidence or confidence.16:37But overall, what are the signs where16:40you're becoming too isolated? What are16:42the signs someone should look out for16:44that shows that they're becoming too16:45isolated? Uh well, number one, they kind16:48of disconnect and they kind of like16:50start to just not come around as often.16:54They start to like fall off the16:56Obviously, isolation is where they're16:57just in solitude and they're moving16:59away, you know? So, I think that's why17:01it's important for us to check in on17:03people. Just randomly go out, text some17:05of the homies, like, "Hey, how you17:06doing, bro? Thinking about you." You17:07know, little things like that. But if17:09they're not responding or if they just17:12kind of like fall off the face of the17:13earth, number one, that's a big thing,17:16you know? Now, obviously, you don't like17:18impose on people cuz sometimes you could17:19push them deeper into loneliness. When17:21someone's trying to get away and then17:23you pursue them, it could actually be17:24like, "Yo, you're like not respecting my17:26space, right?" So, you can respect a17:28person's space, but you have to realize17:29like number one sign I've I've realized17:32is people just straight up don't talk to17:35you anymore. Communication dies. And17:38then from then on, they start to kind of17:40be in their own head. They start to kind17:42of do all this spirituality stuff. They17:44start to do whatever it is to kind of17:46like fill their void, and that's another17:48sign. Now, social media, they broadcast17:51this type of stuff, too, where I've17:53noticed people will do the same thing.17:54Like, they'll go from17:56you know, being so like kind of grounded17:58to just start like shifting their18:00messages, like posting things that are18:02like it's obviously and like a cry for18:05help, but they're not doing it because18:07of like ego or pride or protection or18:09whatever it is, and you'll see that,18:10too. So, they will cry out, but in ways18:13where it's very encoded. It's just like,18:15"Oh, yeah, you know, like I'm doing18:18beach walks more, guys." And it's just18:20like,18:21"That's cool, but like why all of a18:23sudden are you driving 2 hours to the18:25beach?" And like you're you're just like18:28obviously, there's something that you're18:29like it's like a seeking type of energy,18:32right? And so, that's another thing. And18:34honestly, the third thing is still like18:36you'll notice people trusting in18:38themselves a lot. Like, when they're18:39isolated, they don't speak about18:42anything, and they just feel so18:43disconnected. Like, you ever try to talk18:45to somebody who's isolated? They have no18:48there's no dialogue. Everything is one18:51word. Like, "How are you feeling?" "I'm18:52okay." Like, it's not there's no conver-18:55there's no there's no like back and18:56forth exchanging, right? It's just it's18:59just really bad communication.19:02It's obvious stuff, but yeah. So, at19:04what point, if someone's like, "Oh, I19:05need space," does that turn into19:07isolation?19:09You know? Yeah. Cuz it's not wrong to to19:11to want space.19:13You know, what if someone What if your19:14friend What if somebody in our circle is19:16like, "Hey Johnny, I just need some19:18space." Like you're reaching out to19:19them. Yeah. And then you're like,19:21"Okay." Yeah. And then at what point19:23does it become negative? I think when19:25people when people just want to19:27disconnect from like people. Like they19:29do it for comfort. Cuz when you need19:31space, it's okay to like come back and19:33gather your thoughts and then come back19:35to God or come back to that person. When19:36they're like, "I'm cutting you off." and19:39you start to notice they're cutting19:40everybody off. Like I've I've noticed19:43that on social media, too, where it's19:44like, "Oh, I'm cutting off everyone19:45who's negative to me." But what if19:47you're the negative dark cloud, you19:49know? Then you're just going to be the19:50one who's like not only doing other19:52people a favor, but you're going to be19:53sitting there like who's going to19:54nurture you? Who's going to like check19:56in on you? Right? So needing space is an19:58okay thing, but it should always draw20:00you back to God and or draw you back to20:02people and be like, "Hey, I'm struggling20:04with something right now and I don't20:05want to like affect you guys, but I'm20:07going to get I'm going to seek help and20:09do what I got to do, be in solitude,20:11spend time with God, spend time in my20:13word, you know, do you know, workouts or20:15whatever and get myself back on track20:17and I'll come back and like visit you20:19guys." But there's a lot of people that20:20don't do that, right? And so are they20:22seeking comfort or are they seeking like20:25reconciliation and connection? A lot of20:27people seek comfort more than they do20:30connection. And we as human beings are20:32not made to live in solitude. Like we20:34genuinely have to be around people. When20:36you're isolated, you have the most like20:39mental health issues. You have20:40depression is at an all-time high. Like20:43obviously suicidal ideation's all-time20:45high when you're alone. So like when it20:47starts to drift you into literally like20:50depression and loneliness and things20:51like that, that's when it's a problem.20:53Take the space you need and respect the20:55space you need and respect other20:57people's space, but that doesn't mean20:59like they shouldn't be checking in on21:00you. And a real big marker of that is21:03when you check in on someone and they21:04start snapping at you for checking in on21:06them. They're now shifted from like I21:09need my space to like don't even talk to21:11me anymore. Like this is not a good this21:13is unhealthy and it's counterproductive.21:15>> protecting your peace turn into21:16self-isolation?21:19Yeah. What the biggest thing that I've21:21learned is if you are21:23like how to determine if you're21:26if needing space is negative for you is21:28if your thoughts are always negative.21:29Yeah. Cuz I like to spend a lot of time21:32alone as I'm older. Like I'm just too21:34too tired all the time, you know what21:35I'm saying? True.21:36>> But I realized that the time I spend21:39alone I feel more refreshed to go back21:41to the things that I have to do. Whereas21:43in all your examples it's like if you're21:45spending time alone and you need space21:47for yourself but your thoughts are I21:49don't want to be around people. I don't21:51want like I hate my job. Yeah, like21:53negative thoughts. It's like that to me21:54is the biggest sign that your your time21:57alone is now becoming a negative thing21:59and you should probably reach out to22:00somebody. Yeah, facts. Facts. If it22:02doesn't draw you back closer to good22:04people and Jesus, then it's all bad I22:07would say. And you're on the verge of22:09like it's dangerous. Now obviously22:11there's some people who are like I don't22:13have negative thoughts. I just don't22:14want to be around people. Yeah. Right?22:16Then you have to get to the root of of22:18why. Because only you guys would know,22:20right? Like I if there if there's a lot22:21of negativity around you, you you you22:24have that right to draw that boundary22:25and set that boundary and go I'm going22:27to go and do my own thing. And that's22:28cool. If you're thriving, that's22:30amazing. Now if you're like sitting22:32there and you're maintaining and you're22:34again negative and pessimistic, then I22:36would be like all right, we got to kind22:37of look into that. You know? So again,22:39solitude and isolation are two different22:41things. What Jeremy's talking about is22:43solitude. He likes to kind of step away22:45to then come back refreshed. And that's22:48always the goal, right? But a lot of22:49people step away to stay away. And22:51they're like no, I don't I don't want to22:53be around anybody who doesn't match my22:55energy and who like I'm better than22:57other people. That's also really bad cuz22:59then that feeds your pride and your ego.23:01And no one wants to be around an23:02egotistical person, and it's always good23:04to be around people cuz they'll hold you23:05accountable. So, just because someone23:07checks you doesn't mean that it's a bad23:09thing. Are they checking you because23:11they're fighting for you, or are they23:12fighting with you and like stepping on23:14you? If someone's stepping on you, you23:15should step away.23:16>> [snorts]23:16>> But, if somebody is helping you, right,23:19and lifting you and being like, "Hey,23:20bro, this is I noticed something in you.23:22It's for your own good." We should23:24always also hear people out. We should23:25have receptive skills. Um why do you23:27think people feel so lonely today in a23:29time that humans are more connected than23:31ever? Because true connection is23:33spiritual, not digital. And a lot of23:36people are connected on a physical level23:38or a digital level or a parasocial23:40level, but there's no heart level23:42connection.23:43Like, when you connect with somebody23:46I used to be in a room full of like a23:48hundred people, a lot of my homies, and23:50immediately after I left, because the23:52connection wasn't spiritual, it was all23:54physical, I would immediately feel23:56empty. Like, on the drive home, I'm like23:59calling the homies like, "Hey, y'all24:01want to come over to my house?" Cuz24:03there it needs it needed to be that24:04constant surface level connection. But24:07now, I don't even need to be around24:08anybody. I could be around one or two24:10people who are gospel-centered, which is24:12a heart connection, and we're literally24:14like united in Christ, and we can chill24:16and just like talk. It's way better than24:18sitting there going, "Oh my gosh, man, I24:20need to be around all these people to24:22feel like I'm feeling something." When24:24really like there's that void inside of24:26my heart, and it's really a spiritual24:28thing, not an emotional thing or even a24:31mental thing or even a physical thing.24:33Your heart has to be filled spiritually24:36because we are spiritual beings at the24:38end of the day, right? Nothing else is24:40going to fill that void. And that's why24:43rich people don't feel happy. That's24:45why, you know, famous people don't feel24:47happy. Like, it's because no one is When24:50you're famous, I noticed that cuz I24:52mentor a lot of famous people, and I see24:54people following me who are famous.24:55There's this heart of like everyone24:57wants to use you for something.24:59Genuinely, I started to realize that too25:01as I got a little more famous that25:03people hit me up like for handouts. It's25:06like, "Oh, bro, I love the Christianity.25:09Look, I have a cross. Can you promote my25:11CBD company?" It's like, "What the hell,25:13bro? Like what are you25:14You know, it's like what are you doing?"25:15You know, "It's biblical because it's25:17not, you know, a teach." And I'm just25:18like, "Yo, like so I understand why25:21people would be like, dude, do you see25:23me more than just a bag? Do you see me25:25more than that famous person who I could25:27ride off of his clout? Do you see like I25:30understand it, right? You have to There25:32has to be a heart level connection. And25:35again, even though yes, there's a lot of25:37avenues and outlets to, you know, kind25:39of isolate, uh the digital era is bad in25:42that nothing, again, is spiritual25:44anymore. Nothing feeds the soul anymore.25:47Like I remember back in the day when25:49things weren't as as leveled up in terms25:51of AI and all that, but if you guys25:54remember the movies back then were so25:55heart-touching. It was like even like25:58Home Alone and things like that. I'm25:59like, bro, these are classic movies that26:01touch you and like address real-world26:04like problems and like sadness and26:06depression and loneliness. Now26:08everything is just kind of like surface26:09level. It's like who has the coolest26:11graphics and who has like the best26:13delivery and like it's just And that's26:15why people are not going out watching26:17movies anymore. They're not It's just It26:19doesn't feed the soul anymore. Where26:21back then every single movie I would say26:24like fed the soul in some kind of way.26:26It talked about true love. It talked26:28about surrender. It talked about like a26:30father's sacrifice for the son, etc. And26:33it's just like, now I don't see any26:36movies where I'm like, "Dang, that thing26:37hit." Everything is just kind of like,26:40"Oh, next on Netflix. Like what's Oh,26:42that's cool. Yeah, that's tight. Oh,26:44that's zombies night." Like it's not26:46There's nothing that's like hitting this26:47anymore, you know? So26:49>> come out with classics like they used26:51to. Okay, well, so then how are we26:53supposed to build a real connection then26:55or like what is the center? I know you26:57said like oh, if I get with26:58gospel-centered people, we're brothers27:00in Christ, but it's like how are you27:01supposed to build a real connections27:03right now? Not every conversation is27:05about being, you know, brothers in27:06Christ or especially online, it's like27:09how can we build [clears throat] real27:09connections today? Yeah, I think finding27:12one common truth that both of you guys27:14share. So, for me it's obviously God and27:17the gospel, but for people who aren't27:18even believers, it has to be some kind27:20of common truth, right? Like if you're27:22sitting there and I see like even the27:24anime community or like people who I27:27don't know who like go to like raves or27:30whatever. Like they have this heart of27:32like, "Hey, we like love on each other.27:34We have this one common denominator."27:36So, they're actually uniting like on a27:39different level versus just like on a on27:42a kind of27:43physical level, right? It's got to go27:45deeper. A lot of people unite mentally.27:47A lot of people unite, you know,27:49emotionally. Those are okay things, but27:52again, I think the thing that sustains27:54the most has to be a spiritual one. It27:55has to be a spiritual connection. And27:57for me it's like the gospel, right? It's27:59it's truth. True truth, true good. If28:03you guys are sitting there and this28:04person is a humanitarian and another28:06person is a humanitarian, once they meet28:08and they kind of form this bond to like28:10help other people or like unite under28:13that one truth, it's very powerful.28:15People people do stuff like this all the28:17time where they're like no one knows28:19about them, but they have the best28:20bonds. They're like, "Bro, that's my28:21brother right there." Like we both fight28:23for this or we both focus on this truth28:26and it's it's it's a really beautiful28:27thing. You have to have a a common28:29truth. It can't just be a hobby either.28:31It's got to be something that's like,28:33"Dude, I this is my life. Wow, that's28:36your life, too?" Right there people28:38connect. Like it's so much deeper than28:40than, you know, surface level things. If28:42you love biblical lessons like this,28:44then you would love my weekly Bible28:46class. Bible class brings clarity,28:48community, and consistency. There are a28:50lot of us who read the Bible, but we28:51don't know how to apply that to our28:53lives. Consistency also, a lot of you28:55guys want to read the Bible, and you28:57don't know where to start, how to start,28:59and therefore it kind of discourages you29:01guys to read the Bible. So, every week29:03at on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. Pacific29:05Standard Time, we go through one29:07chapter, and we break down every single29:09verse, and apply those verses to your29:12life. And after the Bible class, we also29:14do a group mentor session where it's you29:16can ask me customized questions and29:19anything about the class and anything29:21about your own life. If this sounds29:23interesting to you, you guys can check29:25the link in the bio and use code wisdom29:27to get 50% off your first month. See you29:29guys this Saturday29:31at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard Time.29:34What would you say to someone who is in29:35the church, but they still feel lonely?29:37How would you find out if it's29:38necessarily something they have to work29:40on, or it's the environment that they're29:42in?29:42>> it's usually both, right? So, like I29:44think a person goes to church looking29:47for connection, and it's also the the29:49the the ser- We're called servants for a29:51reason. We have to serve people. So,29:54like if you're in a church, you have to29:56do a really good job of like making29:58people feel seen, making people feel30:00loved, but not distorting the truth. You30:03know, there's a statistic that being a30:05pastor is one of the most depressing30:07jobs, because literally you're30:09overworked and underappreciated. That's30:11just how it is. You have to sit there30:13and doctor people up spiritually to be30:15like, "Okay, I know this is what you30:17need. Let me connect you back to God,"30:19which is a huge task, right? It's30:21difficult. And so, I think like it comes30:24down to30:26people have to30:28not only humanize people, but they have30:30to think about them as what would God30:32see this person as. Like if I meet a30:35person, of course I can have my30:37judgments, of course I can have my30:39thoughts and my observations about and30:41reservations about these people. But,30:43what would God, the common denominator,30:45truth, think about this person? And30:47that's kind of how I treat people when I30:49meet them, too. It's like, why did God30:51put this person in my life? What's Is it30:54just to like milk them? Is it just to30:56take advantage of them? Is it just to30:58crack jokes and be homies? No, there has31:00to be a deeper thing. And as long as you31:02have that mindset, whether you're a31:03pastor or a church brother or sister,31:06then you guys can start to like have31:08this universal heart of moving things31:10forward on a deeper level. Does that31:13make sense? Hm?31:14So, let's say that you can't find a31:17community or you you're not really in an31:19environment where you're finding31:21Let's say you're just stuck in a bad31:22area. You don't have the money to go to31:24a new city or, you know, really kind of31:27go beyond your your area. Like, what31:29would you recommend to somebody if31:31they're just perpetually alone and have31:33no access to anything else? Yeah, it has31:36to go to You got to You have to find31:38resources and resources. And I think31:41digitally is also where it can actually31:44become spiritual. In that, we have a lot31:46of people in our Discord that are 531:49hours away from the nearest church.31:51Like, legit 3 hours away. Some people on31:54Indian reservations where you're not31:56allowed to even have a church there,31:58right? Like, they have their own thing.32:00And so, they join through Discord. And32:02they make the digital stuff their32:04congre- It's a digital congregation at32:06the end of the day. God says, "When two32:08or three are gathered, there I am in the32:09midst of them." in Matthew 18. He32:11doesn't say when two or three gather32:13only physically. Two or three can gather32:15digitally. There are people who are only32:18online like Bible classes like us. We're32:21online ministry.32:22We have 800, 900 people in the Bible32:24class. And they all get fed. They don't32:27come to a physical church with minds.32:29They actually go to other physical32:30churches, but they still come and32:32congregate online. And so, I would say32:34that's also where the double-edged sword32:36is, right? It's like where there's a32:38positive, there's always a negative.32:39Where there's a imbalance, there's32:41always there's always a counterbalance,32:42right? And so32:44the the gospel when you focus32:47on the gospel through digital mediums32:50like social media and you know,32:53communities online like Discord, you can32:56actually hyperfocus. Bro, I know people32:59that literally sit there and listen to33:02my Discord back to back to back to back.33:05Unlearned wisdom back to back to back to33:08back. Literally playing the salvation33:11video once a week. Oh, I got to33:13re-refresh this. And again, that's not a33:16community, but they feel like they're33:17there with me. They're like, "Bro, I33:20hear you preaching and in my head, my33:23thoughts are now becoming your voice.33:24It's like, don't trust your thoughts.33:26Don't follow your heart." Like they33:28learn these types of things, how?33:31Because we we created a community online33:34for then them to come and renew their33:35mind daily. That's what the Bible tells33:37us to do. Reading the Bible renews your33:40mind. Reading self-help books renews33:41your mind. Gives you different33:43perspectives. And you can do that33:44physically, you can do that digitally,33:47you can do that I mean, parasocially.33:50You can do so many things. You don't33:51have to be there physical. And that's33:53the one thing that people teach is33:55you're lonely because physically you're33:57not there. That's only one part of the33:59problem, though. Some people are around34:01100 people, like I say, and don't feel34:03like they're there. I I felt so34:05disconnected even when I was around34:06people. I was like, "Man, I don't feel34:08happy here." Like I feel I don't feel34:10happy alone. I don't feel happy with 10034:12people in a room. I don't feel happy at34:14all. Like what's going on?" So,34:16loneliness is always this thing where34:18people think you're alone34:20and that means it's a bad thing. It's34:22like, "Not necessarily." A lot of people34:24who are alone can actually grow with God34:26when they find communities. And that's34:29why they're so stuck on our community.34:30People return every single day. I'll do34:32a main stage. It doesn't matter if it's34:342:00 in the morning or 2:00 p.m. in the34:37afternoon or 10:00 where everybody's34:39supposed to be working. There's a34:40minimum 500-600 people in there. Like34:43minimum, right? And I'm just like, it's34:45crazy because people are genuinely like,34:48I need to hear this word. I need to hear34:49this word. And faith comes by hearing34:51hearing the word of God. Connection34:52comes through faith as well.34:54Replace your thoughts with the word of34:56God.34:56>> 100%.34:57>> Unlearned Wisdom podcast.34:58>> 100%. And let's say you're a a35:36baby Christian or whatever it is. It's35:38really hard to replace your thoughts35:40with the word of God. Yeah. So, what35:42would you recommend to that person if35:43they're really just spiraling all the35:45time? I think you have to just go back35:47to the source of understanding. We have35:50to unlearn a couple things. We have to35:52unlearn that being alone equates to35:54loneliness. That's not true.35:57Being alone does not automatically mean35:59you're you're a lonely human being,36:02right? So, number one, that's number36:03one. Because loneliness is a feeling and36:06feelings change. So, if you base36:08everything off of feelings,36:10even if you're around people, you're36:12going to feel alone. Because it now it36:15it it's it's directly36:18I guess it directly depends on your36:19feelings, right? So, we have to unlearn,36:22again, that feelings are not everything.36:24Feelings shape reality, yes, but they36:26are not reality. So, you have to learn36:28to distrust your thoughts, what we36:30always teach, and trust the word of God.36:32Now,36:33it's a it's as simple as not you don't36:35have to read the Bible 26 times. How I36:37did it in the beginning was36:39I would have a a depressive thought, and36:41then I would literally go to the Bible,36:43or I would go to Google and be like,36:45"Verses for depression."36:48And these verses, like 10 verses, will36:49pop up. And then I'll be like, "All36:51right, let me replace my thoughts with36:54this word. The Bible says I feel lonely36:56right now. I feel unseen. But the Bible36:59says God is omniscient, omnipotent, he's37:01everywhere all the time, and he says,37:03"I'll never leave you. I'll never37:04forsake you. I'm right there with you."37:06So, right there, even though I didn't37:08read the Bible at that time more than37:10five times or whatever, I would go to37:12that verse, Hebrews 13:5, and pull it37:15and make it mine, and be like, "Okay,37:16God, my thoughts say this, you say this.37:20Let me try to listen to this." And I'll37:21even meditate on that. Lord, I'm not37:23feeling it right now. I know you told me37:26not to feel, but it feels so strong. And37:28then now I'm praying to God, and it37:29doesn't feel like I'm lonely anymore.37:31Whereas before that, you're just37:32spiraling. "Oh my gosh, I'm so lonely.37:34What the hell's wrong with me? Oh, I got37:35to fix it." More so, it's like, "Hey,37:37God, you understand, right?" And it37:39really shifts you out of the loneliness37:40feeling of like, "Dude, no one's37:42listening to me." To the best listener,37:44which is God, is listening to everything37:46that I'm saying, and I'm bringing it37:47back to him. So,37:49There had to have been times where you37:50were like, even in those moments, trying37:52to hold on to a verse to be like, "I37:54want to trust this. I want to trust37:56this." And your thoughts are still37:57overpowering you.37:58>> Yes. Yeah, so Yes. So, that was a lesson38:01for grace. So, I used to think, right?38:03Cuz you we get these little unlocks. So,38:05when I did that, I had these unlocks,38:07and I immediately my brain goes to38:09spoiled brat mode. Yeah, I found the38:11unlock. Wow, I'm never going to struggle38:13with my thoughts again. Expectation.38:15Boom, as soon as it hit me, like the38:17next day, I tried it, and I was like,38:19"Oh yeah, here's the thoughts. Okay, I'm38:21going to go." And then, it wouldn't do38:23anything for me. Then, I realized, "Oh38:25my gosh, God is still showing me that38:26I'm based off of my feelings." Because38:28now, it's a shift. I think because I38:30have this verse that I'm not going to38:32feel it anymore. And God was showing38:34you, "No, no, no, Johnny. Even if I give38:36you the verse, you need to believe38:38everything by grace." So, he was38:40teaching me, "Your feelings are not true38:43even when they feel so true." Dang.38:46>> And so, I'm sitting there like, "Dang,38:47okay. All right, this is difficult."38:50Then, I would go to pastor. I'll be38:51like, "Pastor, I read this verse, and I38:53don't know why it's not answering me."38:55And he's like, "That's okay. That's why38:57you have to continuously go to God. He's38:59trying to teach you that just because39:00you know something, what's going to39:02happen is you're just going to go to39:03Google and find scriptures and not come39:06to God. If you could just solve39:07everything with scripture, you wouldn't39:09come to God and sit there and sit in39:11your in in that nasty feeling." And so,39:14I was able to learn that, "Wow,39:16everything is by grace." Just because39:18you guys know these tools, does not mean39:20that every single time you yield this39:23tool, it's going to work. Right? Elijah39:26had God who helped him and literally,39:29you know, called upon the Lord, and Lord39:32helped him. But, in the next chapter, he39:33was running away from Bathsheba. Or he's39:35running away from39:37uh uh uh you know, the queen. And he was39:38just like uh from Jezebel. And he was39:41like sad and lonely and depressed. And39:44then, God came to him. God nurtured him,39:46and God lifted him up. And so, all God39:48wants is, "I don't want anything you to39:51depend on anything but me and the grace39:53of God." And so, there's times where I'm39:55frustrated, and I have to sit with my39:56frustration even now. Yeah. Even now,39:59I'm like, "Dude, I'm frustrated. I don't40:00understand why. Everything is going40:02well. What's the issue?" And then, it40:05again, it's those moments where I think40:07back to the go, "Oh yeah, it don't40:09matter what Bible verse I know. It don't40:11matter how trained I am to distrust my40:13thoughts. In this predicament, God wants40:16me to just rely on him." So, I'm going40:18to sit here and I'm going to wait upon40:20the Lord and God is going to help me.40:22And genuinely when that comes, it always40:25happens. It always happens where he40:26lifts me out of it and I'm just like,40:29"Sheesh, okay." And and the the cycle40:32kind of doesn't repeat anymore. It's40:34like very like short. It's before I40:37would flip out and I'll be like, "Dang,40:38I guess I'm not learning anything." and40:40I'd feel condemned. But now I don't get40:42condemned. I'm like, "Okay, I'm feeling40:43a little stressed out today.40:45God is going to lift me out of this when40:46he feels like it's the right time to do40:48so." And then that thing gets shorter.40:51Like it used to be so long and I'm like,40:53"Hello, hurry up. Look at me. I'm40:54surrendered." Now it's like whether I40:56surrender or not, that is a surrender.40:58It's to go, "God, you lift me when you41:00want to do it. I'm I mean, I'm not going41:02to I can't take it."41:03I feel like the last couple of episodes,41:05something that really comes up and also41:07just certain things that have been41:09happening in my life all stem from41:11expectation. Yeah. It's like I I expect41:14God to treat me a certain way because41:16I've been good and I've been God, I've41:19been going to church. I've been41:20listening and trying to replace my41:21thoughts and I've been, you know, being41:24kind to people and why am I still41:25experiencing basic level of frustration41:29or why haven't you promi- like, you41:32know, help me?41:33You say in the Bible, look, I'm trusting41:35your word. You say you're going to help41:36me in all things and lift me out of41:38like, why not now, God?41:39>> Yeah.41:40And um it always is this kind of41:42expectation. Has that thought ever41:44turned you away from God? Like, "Hey,41:45I've been so diligent and good to you."41:49And then yeah, then and then when did41:51you kind of41:52What was the lesson from that to make41:53you come back?41:54>> Many times. Many times I I didn't41:56realize that I was treating God like a41:58genie and like transactionally.42:00And so when I'm when I was thinking,42:02"Oh, I'm listening to you." the one42:04thing God taught me was, "You're only42:07listening to me because I allow you to.42:10I gave you the resources like Pastor42:12Kim. I gave you the Bible for you to42:15read and unlock. You yourself in42:17yourself, Johnny, can never do anything.42:20That was the lesson he I went through42:22all those loops for him to teach me that42:23one lesson. Was to be like, "You you42:26can't do it without me. You will never42:28do it without me." And once I realized42:30that,42:31things changed for me. So, even now,42:34right? Like, do I get frustrated? Sure.42:37Do I have expectations? Absolutely.42:39Absolutely. But at the end of the day,42:42it's God who takes care of those42:44expectations. It's God who loves on me42:47and teaches me, "Hey, Johnny, it's okay42:49to be the way that you are. It's okay to42:51accept yourself for who you are." And42:53so, I think42:55the expectations42:56every single day is God also nurturing43:00that, too. He's also like breaking our43:01expectations and managing our43:03expectations for us without us even43:05realizing it. Like, I I don't want to43:08have expectations, and neither does he43:10want me to have expectations, but it's43:12weird. He'll let me have my expectation43:15to then fall from it to then realize I43:18can't have my expectation almost, right?43:21It's a weird like kind of like43:22dichotomy, but it's basically like I'm43:24going to let I'm I'm I'm going to let43:26you struggle43:28to show you in whichever way that you're43:31not humble, but I'm humbling you through43:33the struggle to then show you why you43:35need me.43:36It's so crazy, and it's like this for43:39years it's been like this. Yeah. It's43:40been like this for years. And at the43:42same time, it's a beautiful thing43:43because43:44I also realized there is nothing I'm43:46going to do to ever humble down.43:49If anything, we're we're getting dubs,43:51like we're winning a lot, and God is43:53humbling more because he's expanding our43:56humility so that we can43:59we can handle the blessings cuz44:02blessings take humility. Like, if you44:04look at Satan, the reason why he was44:06cursed wasn't was because he was evil,44:09was because he was too good and he was44:10constantly blessed. And there was no44:13there was zero humility in him. So when44:16God was like, "Nope, you're not going to44:17have the throne." Bro was just throwing44:19a fit and he got thrown out. Like he44:21could not accept when you spoil a kid44:24too much, they get to the position where44:26they cannot they will literally like44:28melt if you don't give them what they44:30want. And so I'm actually very thankful44:32that God nurtures me to be like44:35"I know you you want this and it44:36probably might be good, but I'm going to44:38withhold this so that you can grow to44:40get even bigger blessings than this."44:42And I'm actually very thankful once I44:44come out on the other side. Obviously44:45when you're going through it, no one's44:46going to be happy. But God says, "He who44:49he loves, he chastises." Right? So he44:51will chastise me time to time. He will44:53show me, "Hey, you can't trust yourself.44:55Like you know this, but I'm going to44:57show you again why you have to go44:58through it again to then realize, okay,45:01bring your heart back to zero. Bring you45:02back to this low level heart connection45:04as we say." And so yeah, it's kind of45:07crazy. It's like your life is on45:09it feels like it's on hard mode, but45:11it's on easy mode because of God.45:13Right? God is literally like, "I'm going45:15to manage it. The things you don't think45:17you need and you don't see, I'm just45:20going to do them and then you'll see45:21it." And it's so crazy because every45:23time he does that, I legit see it and go45:26"I get it. I know why you did that now."45:28Where I'm and it doesn't matter whether45:30it's the first time or the thousand time45:32he's broken me, I'm still the same I45:34don't like being broken, you know? But45:35at the end it's always like, "Ah, I got45:37it." And that's the level up every45:39single time. Guys, after all this time45:41we're finally coming to the Bay Area and45:43we're throwing two live events.45:46>> Wow.45:49After service is my free live event45:50where you guys can come and ask your45:51questions. We do a live Q&A. We do a45:54sermon and we do a meet and greet and a45:56hangout session afterwards. So, text Bay Area to46:06323-613-357746:09to RSVP because although these events46:11are free, space is limited, guys. So, we46:14have a location in San Fran, but we do46:17not have a location in San Jose. So, if46:19you're a church and you want to help us46:20advance the kingdom, guys, please text46:23that same number and type host. We'll46:25give you a host form, and let's push the46:27gospel together, guys. And if you don't46:28remember anything that I said because46:30I'm a certified yapper, then everything46:33is in the description.46:34The thing you said there is like it's46:36hard mode but easy mode at the same46:38time. That Like I can't explain, but46:40that's what it feels like at times. Like46:42I have more peace in my my life than I46:44ever have, but there's still times where46:46I'm just kind of like kicking and46:47screaming. Yeah. You know, I don't I46:49don't know how to put it in words. It's46:51That's spiritual life. So, on the46:53opposite side of loneliness,46:56when should somebody spend more time46:57alone or learn to be alone? Mhm.47:01When they're codependent. What does that47:03even mean, John? What is47:04>> So, when47:06when they're sitting there and they're47:07like, "My identity, my happiness, my47:10comfort, my peace comes from being47:12around people."47:13Then you're slowly teetering into like47:16idol worship territory, right? There are47:18times where you have to be alone. And if47:21you're just using it as a coping47:23mechanism to then depend on other47:25people, whether physically, emotionally,47:27mentally, or spiritually,47:29uh it's dangerous cuz the enemy will47:31work. So,47:33the the easy test for that is to be47:35like, "Am I okay if I'm not with this47:38person?"47:39Like if I'm not around these types of47:41people,47:42am I going to be okay? And you can test47:44that.47:45>> Have you guys ever felt that? I've never47:46felt that in my life where I'm like I47:48needed to be around somebody. Like I47:50love hanging out with my friends.47:52>> I for sure have.47:52>> Really? Really?47:53>> Yeah, me too.47:54>> I get two types of loneliness. It used47:56to back in college, it used to be47:57something like that where I'd be the47:59same way. I would leave a big group of48:00friends that I hung out with all day and48:01then I'd be on my way home being like,48:03"Want to come over?" because it's just48:05you can't even be alone with your own48:06thoughts. It's just emptiness. It's like48:08you'd rather just be doing something,48:09anything, whether it's a podcast or just48:11filling your mind with literally48:13anything than being alone. Like that48:16depend- And it's not that you're48:17necessarily dependent on the particular48:18people. You could care less about them.48:21Not not not necessarily, but it's not48:22that serious. And the other type of48:24loneliness that I48:25would have would be like um48:28just like very feelings-based, just48:30telling trusting my thoughts, but48:31telling myself that like everyone hates48:34me or no one wants to be around me. So,48:35I48:36>> So, you need that real Listen to those48:37ones. You need that validation.48:40>> [laughter]48:41>> That's good, man. Um Don't be around48:43Jeremy when you're lonely. He'll spiral48:45you deeper into loneliness.48:46>> Like, "Jeremy, do you hate me?" Yeah.48:49>> [laughter]48:49>> Why'd you call me?48:51No, but to answer your question, yeah,48:52that's definitely real.48:53>> Really? So, so I mean there's times48:55where I'm like, "Yo, I want to hang hang48:57out and be around people." but never to48:58the point where I'm like I guess you're49:00right. I've been I I guess I got a lot49:03of grace.49:03>> of grace. I have I know so many people49:05that are like me and Erin. Interesting.49:07>> Where we're like, "We need people" I'm49:08not like that anymore, honestly, but I49:10used to be. I think it also happens with49:13finding your purpose. I think if you49:16find something that fills your heart49:18like work and things like that, then49:19you're like, "Oh, I got what I need."49:22And you you feel almost valid through49:24that, you know what I mean? It's like49:25you have something you're chasing, which49:26is a target now. Cuz I remember feeling49:29like that when I had nothing going on49:30for myself. I was just about to say. I'm49:32like, "Oh, because I was broke all the49:34time, I couldn't experience loneliness49:36cuz I just had to work." Literally. No,49:38literally [clears throat] though. Like I49:40was broke, but I was also kind of49:41sitting there like, "Dang, I I have time49:43to party and I can mess around still a49:46little bit." And it was during that time49:48that I was like I Oh, no one likes to49:50Like I would get mad if somebody didn't49:51hit me back up. I'll be like, "Yo, what49:53the Oh, maybe he doesn't like me." Like,49:55"Man, what the hell? We were cool." And49:56then I'll start spinning narratives all49:58the time. And then through that, I'm49:59like50:00I'll just isolate. And then I would50:02isolate and it would get worse. It would50:04be like, "Dude, why why am I so50:07frustrated about not hanging out with50:09certain people?" And50:11unbeknownst to them, I'll just50:13completely cut people off. And they50:14would come to me and be like, "Dude,50:16what happened?" And I'm like, "Oh, you50:17know, I just feel like disrespected cuz50:20you guys didn't hit me up and how come50:21you guys would go out with this group of50:23friends, but you don't invite me? Like,50:25what the heck?" And it was really50:27because I had nothing going on for50:29myself. Cuz then when I started to step50:31on the brickies,50:33I didn't care about nobody. I didn't50:35care if they hit me up to go to this50:36party, that strip club, whatever. I was50:37like, "Man, I'm getting my thing. I got50:39to like push." And then And then I50:41started seeing like the reverse effect.50:43All bros, Johnny's so cold, bro. He got50:46like Hollywood. He got way better than50:47He got a little bit of money in his50:49pocket. He thinks he's better than50:49everyone. And I'm like50:51And I understood it. Like, "Oh, it's50:52because most people who don't have50:54things going on for themselves or at50:56least on the level that they're happy50:58with and satisfied for themselves and51:00their expectations, then they start to51:02kind of pour that onto other people.51:04"Oh, you don't care about me, man. How51:06come you ain't calling me out? Wah, wah,51:07wah." And all this other stuff. So,51:09yeah, it it's it was51:11It was It was weird. It was weird. How51:13did you get over it or do you still kind51:15of feel that way?51:16Um yeah, just got busy.51:18Um you just you care a little less when51:22you have stuff to do. Like I I've51:24definitely been in the position where I51:26felt the same way where I'd be upset if51:28other people were doing X, Y, and Z. But51:29then now51:30I'm like grateful if people don't invite51:32me cuz I don't even have to say no. It's51:34like And I see other people still to51:36this day who51:37I have friends who will do51:40anything but work. And it's like if that51:42means filling their time with hanging51:44out with a million different people or51:45whatever, as long as it's not what51:48spending any time with real whatever51:50their demons are, I guess. Yeah. Um but51:53yeah, I think it goes with when your51:55demons clear up a lot of other things51:57clear up. It's like when you have when51:59you find your purpose, a lot of things52:01clear up. Like I remember way back on52:04your old podcast, you guys asked me,52:05you're like, um oh, when are you52:07depressed? And I just had like, when I'm52:08bored. When I'm not busy and don't have52:10projects going on and don't have clients52:12and when there's enough time to be52:13depressed. Literally, that's how it52:14happens. At least for me.52:16The depression is almost too We're too52:18busy. Yeah, it's like depression is52:20almost a luxury.52:22>> [laughter]52:22>> Yeah. Did you Yeah. So, you never felt52:25like that where you just sit there and I52:27feel like you're always on your grind52:29though, ever since you were younger.52:30>> Yeah, I never had like an opportunity52:32because it's like and maybe but that52:34also like, you know, I was an anxious52:35person cuz I never felt like safe.52:38But I think that overall, I also did a52:42lot of like weird things that I think52:44made me be fine with being alone, like52:47I was on that like kind of like52:49soul-searching journey52:51right away after like high school and52:53not being around my parents.52:55And so like, you know, I52:57I went to a did a 10-day silent52:59meditation.53:01That was like kind of hard and crazy.53:02You meditate literally for 8 hours a53:04day. It's like you get up at 4:30, you53:05sit on a mat, you meditate for an hour,53:07then you get a break, then you do53:08another hour, then you get breakfast,53:09then you do another hour.53:10>> Yeah. When did you start reading a lot53:12of books? In college. Okay, so and then53:15after you got out of college was when53:17you did the meditation stuff?53:18>> Yeah. Okay, so I noticed something. I53:20don't know, maybe53:22Aaron, like I I wouldn't read a lot of53:24books. So, I was always like that,53:27sensitive and whatever. When I started53:29to read books, it kind of opened up my53:31mind a little bit and I stopped being53:33like that for a little bit. Like it was53:35weird. Like I think books train you to53:37kind of think a little bit deeper and53:39and and almost take your mind off of53:41certain things, too. So, I think like53:43every person that I know who's read hell53:45of books, they're like you. They don't53:48struggle with those they're like, "Oh,53:49you don't want to hang out." And I'm53:50just like,53:51"W- But, you don't think deeper?" No, he53:53do- if he doesn't want to hang out, he53:54doesn't want to hang out. I'll go and53:55I'll read a book. I'll do And I'm just53:57like,53:57"So, I Yeah." Do you think that's what54:00it is?54:00>> brain because like the thing about books54:02or why cuz I used to be a huge book book54:04head and I tell everyone to read once I54:06started reading myself. It's because54:08it's like And and back then, most times54:11to write a book is really hard. You had54:12to find a publisher and it's Today,54:15anyone can fart out a book and it's not54:17that impressive. But, back then it's54:19it's like that's somebody that took 1054:21years of knowledge or however long their54:23expertise and they condensed it into a54:25book and they're giving you a world view54:27that you would never get.54:28>> Facts.54:28>> And so, books would just open your mind.54:30Even Even like That's why they say even54:32reading fantasy books helps your54:34creativity cuz like54:35>> Yeah. You're like, "Oh my gosh." You54:36start to imagine like worlds in your54:38head of somebody that just put words on54:41a piece of paper. Yeah. And that is an54:43interesting thing, right? When I started54:44reading books about like business or54:46self-help or marketing or how you become54:48successful, that was like someone that's54:51done it. You read their life story and54:52you're like, "Oh, it's possible for me."54:54And then you start to54:55>> Yeah, there's hope. There's hope. It54:57plants them inside of you. You were54:58getting hope out of the books when55:00people were getting hope out of55:01wishy-washy people.55:03>> 100% or it was just giving me a world55:05view and I'm like, "Oh, this is55:07possible. Okay, this guy instead of55:09drinking and partying all day, he went55:11out and did XYZ and that's how they55:12become successful. Great. I'm going to55:14try that, you know." Dude, my even my my55:16vocabulary improved so much just by55:19reading the Bible. And people are like,55:21"Bro, how do you How are you so55:22articulate?" I was like, "Go ahead, say55:24something."55:25>> [laughter]55:26>> "Go ahead."55:26>> No, I was just imagining you in the55:28hood. Like, "Thou art about to get the55:30smoke."55:31>> [laughter]55:33>> You got a modern-day Shakespeare.55:37This is what you call a Tec-9.55:39>> [laughter]55:40>> That's crazy. That hurts. I'm a bad55:43reader, obviously. I I never read I've55:45never really read more books. I read Hop55:47on Pop and that's it. And like I'm sure55:50there's just like a wealth of knowledge55:51that I never got to understand or55:54intake. I don't know. I just never got55:57to read them. Would you would you start55:59reading if you had that app that just56:01puts that one letter in front of you?56:03The one letter?56:04>> speed read. Have you seen that? No.56:06Yeah, remember they put the word right56:08here and it's like how fast can you read56:09and it speeds up to 900 words per minute56:11and you can basically No, I've never56:13seen that before.56:14>> Basically what they did is they they'll56:15take a whole book and they'll take one56:18the the reason why you read slow is56:20because you have to follow every single56:22line down a page, right? That's why56:24reading with your fingers faster and56:26whatever it is. But they built this app56:28where it was literally the word doesn't56:30move56:31or your eyes don't move and it speeds up56:34and you're like reading at 900 words a56:36minute and you're retaining it. And what56:37they do is every single letter in the56:39word, so it'll be like the brown cow, H56:41in the will be red, O will in brown will56:45be red, so you can focus on one word and56:48you can digest way more. And so and so56:50people are saying like imagine if they56:52took all the books that are available56:54and now you're suddenly We should put56:56that in the in our Bible app. Yeah, you56:58could read the Bible in a day. That's57:00crazy.57:01>> [laughter]57:06[laughter]57:06>> You're getting through numbers in a57:08second.57:09There's also apps now though. There's57:11like a app where you can like some it57:13summarizes books. So someone like you57:15who doesn't want to sit and read a book,57:16you could like basically read summaries.57:18That would still make you smarter. Yeah.57:21>> [laughter]57:23>> Oh, this guy's like57:24I don't need that. I'm already57:26brilliant. I have I didn't realize that57:28it was an intelligence issue you were57:29trying to solve [laughter] for me. I'm57:30just saying.57:32All right. All right. I'll try to get57:33smarter. Thank you.57:34>> [laughter]57:37>> Well, I have to tell the class. You57:39think B's or D's?57:41Look, you're wearing Bright Fit socks.57:43>> [laughter]57:44>> We're hiring, guys. Core the Hard is57:46hiring, but listen carefully. We're not57:48just building a company. We're building57:50one of the fastest growing Christian57:51communities in the world. In just a year57:53and a half, this community has grown to57:55over 3 million strong, and we're nowhere57:57near done. Our mission is simple, but57:59massive. So, when we say we're hiring,58:08understand this. We're not looking for58:10employees, we're looking for58:11mission-driven A players that want to58:13change the world.58:14>> Our criteria is simple. Don't show us58:15what you could do, show us what you've58:17already mastered. Like, if you want to58:18be the short-form editor, show me the58:20millions of views you've gotten on short58:21form. If you want to be the podcast58:23producer, show me the shows that you've58:24successfully produced. We've learned the58:26hard way not to hire off potential. We58:28just want to hire off of pure58:29experience. People who have already58:30proven that they can perform at their58:32skill set at the highest level. We have58:34jobs available in many different58:35departments. Media and content, live58:38events, and marketing. We also have58:39remote jobs and LA-based jobs available.58:42If you're an A player that has mastered58:43their craft and wants to do something58:45that glorifies God, then please head to58:47the link in our description and check58:48out the job board.58:49>> And lastly, if you're an absolute beast58:51at something and you don't see it on the58:52job board, please reach out. I mean, you58:54know, you might be able to do it for us,58:55it might work out. So, if you're amazing58:57at something, you don't see the perfect58:58job description, just reach out. Tell us59:00what you're good at, maybe it'll work.59:01>> Genuinely, I can't do this without a59:03team. So, I'm very thankful for anyone59:05who supports the mission. I look forward59:07to hearing from you guys. Is it bad to59:09want a partner? Like, let's say you're59:11lonely, like, oh, I want a partner59:12because in the Bible, God wants man and59:14woman, right? We're supposed to59:15procreate.59:16Why you shaking your head no?59:18Do you not know anatomy?59:20No, it's not bad to not want It's not59:22bad to want a partner. It is bad to base59:27all of your happiness, all of your life59:30on finding that partner.59:31>> Okay, not all of my life, but 33% of my59:34life. That's fine.59:36That's fine. A third of your life is59:37cool. I think genuinely like people go59:40overboard though.59:42I got to find my person and why do other59:45people have like cuz they're comparing.59:47They're They're comparison is a thief of59:49joy, right? And so God says in all59:52things be grateful, be thankful, right?59:54And so if you're single, be thankful. If59:57you're together, be thankful. I mean1:00:00Apostle Paul, he's pretty1:00:02pretty on point with it. He's like you1:00:04don't really need somebody. Like if you1:00:06have God that's pretty much all you1:00:09need, right? Cuz a lot of people have a1:00:11person and don't have God and that thing1:00:13is horrible, right? And so and then1:00:15there's a lot of people who are super1:00:17strong in their faith and are completely1:00:19fine with being alone. So to the people1:00:21who do struggle with it, you have to1:00:23kind of think about it. Are you looking1:00:25for somebody to replace God? Are you1:00:28looking for somebody to you know cuz1:00:30you're never truly alone. Like genuinely1:00:32that you're never just try to talk out1:00:34to God and you will people are big on1:00:36feelings. You will literally feel his1:00:38presence. Like when you're preaching and1:00:40you're talking to God, when you're1:00:42reading the Bible he's there. There's no1:00:45way that he's not, right? But it's1:00:47again, people are are hyper focused on1:00:50expectations where it's like I'm this1:00:53age1:00:54I should have this by now. I should have1:00:56these kids by now. I should do X, Y, and1:00:58Z by now. And that right there is like1:01:01basically trying to move God's hand to1:01:03like1:01:04create something in your life that1:01:07makes sense to you at that moment. But1:01:10how much is the outside world that has1:01:12basically ruined what connection should1:01:15be? So then as Christians you should try1:01:19to counter that and really make an1:01:22effort to basically1:01:24create human connection and find a1:01:26partner. Does that make sense?1:01:27>> Yes. What I say makes sense. You're1:01:28right. Many people are influenced by the1:01:31world and people are moving1:01:34just based off of what the world's1:01:36worldly standard is. At this age you1:01:38should be this age, you should have this1:01:40x amount of income, you should have this1:01:42and that.1:01:43>> Or I'm saying the opposite, right?1:01:44They're like, "Well, I don't want to1:01:45participate in dating apps and all the1:01:47men that I've dated or women I've dated1:01:49are trash." Both sides. And then they're1:01:51saying, "So, I'm going to be alone." And1:01:53instead it should be, you know what I'm1:01:55saying? Like now they're going the1:01:56opposite direction to stay away from a1:01:58partner.1:01:58>> Yeah, yeah. Yeah, the other swing1:01:59Because of the influence of the world.1:02:00Yeah. I I think as long you can do that1:02:03as long as it's not doing it out of1:02:05hurt. Again, as long as you're not you1:02:08hurt and fear, hurt, anything negative,1:02:12condemnation, isolation is not the1:02:15motivating factor.1:02:17The motivating factor should be1:02:19I want to be alone cuz you take two1:02:20people. One person is like, "I'm alone1:02:22because all this is fake. Christian1:02:24Mingle is just Tinder. They're all1:02:26equal. They're all evil. Well, I want to1:02:28be with God." There's this and then1:02:30there's, "Hey, I've tried these things1:02:33and I've realized there's nothing that I1:02:34could draw1:02:36close to even hold a candle to God. And1:02:39so, I want to stay in solitude with God1:02:43until and keep the doors open until God1:02:45brings me a person." Versus other people1:02:48who I see them all the time. They'll1:02:49write it in the chat like, "I love being1:02:52alone." And I'm just like,1:02:53>> [laughter]1:02:55>> No, you don't.1:02:57You say that, but you don't.1:03:00Cuz you're just It's the best thing1:03:01that's ever happened to me, you know?1:03:03It's like,1:03:04I Yeah.1:03:05>> [laughter]1:03:08>> He's like, "No, you don't."1:03:10>> [laughter]1:03:11>> They're like, "Yes, I do." And their1:03:12profile picture is like 12 cats.1:03:16>> [laughter]1:03:17>> I got two, so don't come after me. 121:03:19cats.1:03:21No, but they're they're like that,1:03:23right? They sit there and 12 cats, it's1:03:25crazy.1:03:26>> [laughter]1:03:27>> I'm just laughing and going No, you1:03:29don't. Yes, I do.1:03:32No, cuz God did create us again be with1:03:35people, right? And there are people who1:03:36are humble and there are people who are1:03:38just1:03:39angry and saying and wearing the church1:03:41clothes like, well, I I knew only God1:03:44can love me versus like only God can1:03:47love me and I I try to find love in1:03:48places that I shouldn't have found.1:03:51Right? Versus like I try to find love,1:03:53but I realize I'm God's daughter and he1:03:55has to love me. It's like there's a1:03:57different type of heart, right? Men too,1:03:59bro. Men are the same like, oh, all1:04:01these women are horrible. It's like,1:04:02bro, relax, bro. You just you suck. I'm1:04:05just kidding. But genuinely, right? We1:04:07have to realize that where is your heart1:04:09posture? Are you doing it out of like1:04:11anger? Right? Cuz people leak. I see it1:04:13all the time where I'm just like,1:04:15not all women are that way. No, all1:04:17women are this way. They they they make1:04:20men stumble. And I'm just like, what?1:04:23Bro, like keep it in your pants, bro.1:04:25What are you talking about, right? And1:04:26then there's other people who are just1:04:27like, no, you know, all men are like1:04:30conniving and all men only want one1:04:32thing. No, there are men out there who1:04:33genuinely are like, no, I want to get to1:04:36know you and you know, I care about you1:04:38and I want to put God in all of this and1:04:40I want to preach the gospel. There's1:04:41people like that, too. So,1:04:44are you doing it back to your question1:04:46out of anger and and hostility and1:04:49feeling like hurt. Yeah, you're hurt and1:04:51you're wrong. Or are you coming from a1:04:54healed place where it's like, I tried1:04:56those things. I tried to lead my life. I1:04:58tried to pick my partner.1:05:00I failed. And I'm okay with that.1:05:03And I'm I'm going to just pick myself up1:05:06and grow with God and work on the1:05:07relationship that bleeds into all other1:05:09relationships, which is the which is the1:05:11relationship with God. Mhm. That's a1:05:13that's a very fair1:05:15Yeah. answer.1:05:16Lonely,1:05:18I am so lonely.1:05:20>> Stop, we're going to get claimed. Sorry.1:05:22Cuz I sing so well and sound so on.1:05:24[clears throat]1:05:24>> too perfect. Okay, so that wraps up this1:05:26segment and if you guys liked it, please1:05:29like, comment, subscribe because1:05:32literally guys, we have I don't know1:05:34100,000 subscribers now.1:05:36>> 127,000. This guy doesn't even look at1:05:38check. I don't cuz numbers don't matter1:05:40to me. Souls do. Numbers don't matter to1:05:44me. Give me all the money in your bank1:05:45account. I do. Literally.1:05:48Between you two.1:05:50This wraps up the segmente.1:05:53But the episode is still going. But the1:05:55episode is still going. And um so I1:05:59wanted to ask you guys a question.1:06:01Would you rather get $1 trillion or 101:06:05minutes with Jesus?1:06:07That's a really good question, but1:06:08>> Trillion dollars.1:06:10>> [laughter]1:06:11>> The true answer is you can have 101:06:13minutes with Jesus whenever you want.1:06:15Oh, [laughter] wow. Mars.1:06:17>> dude, Aaron with the spiritual1:06:19>> Okay, let me rephrase the question.1:06:21Listen, it's not that crazy. I saw Luke1:06:23Belmar say that. No, let [laughter] me1:06:25No, let me rephrase it. Physical Jesus.1:06:28He pops up on this couch. Which one are1:06:30you picking?1:06:31Does he answer questions? Of course. I'm1:06:33hanging out with Jesus.1:06:34>> Shoot, 10 minutes with Jesus.1:06:36>> Okay, that's what I'd pick too.1:06:37And what would you pick?1:06:39I'd be like Jesus, can you give me a1:06:40trillion dollars?1:06:41>> say it. Don't say it.1:06:42>> [laughter]1:06:43>> Does he have Is he a genie? Like1:06:46Can you give me a trillion at Before you1:06:47go back in the lamp? Come1:06:49>> [laughter]1:06:49>> Wait, so so I'd pick the 10. You'd pick1:06:52the 10. Yeah. Okay, wait, hold up.1:06:54There's a follow up question.1:06:56Let's see what he picks.1:06:57Dude, we know Aaron already. Yeah, you1:06:59get the trillion. He's like, well, you1:07:01guys got 20 minutes with Jesus. Tell me1:07:03what he says.1:07:04>> [laughter]1:07:05>> Yeah, yeah. Y'all bring your fireflies1:07:08and then make me a loom.1:07:09>> Yeah. [laughter]1:07:12No, uh I mean, that'd be pretty I mean,1:07:14listen, if there was listen1:07:16>> [laughter]1:07:17>> Yeah, if you want the trillion dollars,1:07:19just say you want the trillion dollars.1:07:21Dude, okay, you want the trillion1:07:22dollars.1:07:23>> Listen, even just knowing Listen, if1:07:25even under the proposition1:07:27>> [laughter]1:07:28>> Okay, fine. I'll let you just keep1:07:29going. Do you want the trillion dollars?1:07:30>> I want the trillion dollars, but but1:07:32that comes with a lot of caveats and1:07:33reasoning, but I won't waste No, go1:07:35through caveats and reasoning first1:07:36before I ask the follow-up question.1:07:38Well, because it's like if the if the1:07:40thing is you get to have 10 minutes with1:07:42Jesus, even that opportunity answers all1:07:45my questions. Give me the Now give me1:07:47the trillion dollars.1:07:48>> Well, what do you mean given that1:07:49opportunity answers all your questions?1:07:51You Jesus Yeah, but It's You get where1:07:54I'm coming from.1:07:55>> No, I don't get it. Listen, It doesn't1:07:57matter. It doesn't matter [laughter] if1:07:58you get it. Did you guys get it? That's1:08:00all that matters. Bro, no comments. No1:08:02comments. No comments. Write if you got1:08:04it.1:08:05>> [laughter]1:08:05>> Yeah, that's a good one. Write if you1:08:06got it. chose trillion to me. Well,1:08:09listen, it's really just like1:08:11You don't care about Jesus is what I1:08:13interpret this. Am I missing something1:08:15here?1:08:17>> [laughter]1:08:17>> Um well, okay, so what would you say1:08:18What would you guys say? Yeah, that's1:08:20what I was going to say. That was the1:08:21follow-up question. What would you ask1:08:23Jesus? Okay, that's easy for me. Well,1:08:25what1:08:26>> two questions that I mean to came up.1:08:28>> Okay.1:08:28>> [clears throat]1:08:28>> When are you actually coming back? Mhm.1:08:30>> And number two, what is the core message1:08:33of the Bible from you?1:08:35That is 100% No, no, no, hold up.1:08:38>> just You know what you could do is read1:08:40the Bible. No, no, no, no, no, you need1:08:41to1:08:42>> literally tell you that.1:08:43>> He's going to go and I cannot tell you.1:08:45>> up. Hold up. No, hold up. Hold up. Hold1:08:47up. I'd be like, what is the core1:08:50message of the Bible that guarantees1:08:52every single person goes to heaven? He's1:08:55going to confirm1:08:56the gospel. If he confirms the gospel, I1:08:59just heard it out of Jesus's mouth. It1:09:02doesn't matter. You could go You could1:09:03be like, "Well, I heard it from Jesus."1:09:05Jesus himself. You don't even have to1:09:07read the book anymore. It came out of1:09:09Jesus. And if you want to ignore it,1:09:10then okay. And guess what? He's coming1:09:12back on this day. So, you have until1:09:14this day No, he can't tell you. Why? Cuz1:09:16he says it in the Bible. He doesn't say1:09:18when he's coming.1:09:19>> He's He's not going to go, "Not telling1:09:21you."1:09:21>> He is. He's going to do that.1:09:23If you read the Bible, you would know1:09:25these things. Your questions could all1:09:26be answered. This is what I would ask1:09:28him.1:09:29>> [laughter]1:09:29>> This is what I would ask him. I would1:09:31ask him things that happened in my life1:09:35that I'm unclear of as why they1:09:38happened. Like, why did those things1:09:40happen? I feel like it wasn't necessary.1:09:43Lord, what is it? Not in a pompous like1:09:45right, but be like, "Why did it Why did1:09:46the homie die?" And like all these1:09:48little things. Obviously, I could figure1:09:49it out, but I would confirm that number1:09:52one. And then1:09:53I would always I would also ask, "How do1:09:56I gain a person's heart?" Like like1:09:59literally he like with the Pharisees, he1:10:02wasn't able to gain their hearts. But,1:10:04it's not cuz he wasn't able to. He's1:10:05Jesus. He could do whatever. But, why is1:10:08it that he allowed like specific certain1:10:10people1:10:11to kind of walk away?1:10:12Right? Interesting. Which I think I know1:10:15the answer to, but again, I would1:10:16confirm with him. The thing is love1:10:18honors choice.1:10:20If you love somebody, you're going to1:10:21love them enough to let them walk away.1:10:23Right? So, I mean, they didn't want to1:10:25believe in him, they walked away from1:10:26him. But, I want to be able to be like,1:10:28"Is that what it is?" Because sometimes1:10:30we don't want people to walk out of our1:10:31lives, but I've noticed that the most1:10:33obedient the most obedient and faithful1:10:35thing you can do sometimes is to let1:10:38people walk out. It's to let people go.1:10:40Right? Whereas like there's this thing1:10:42of like you can't let people go. You1:10:43have to fight for them. You have to die1:10:44for them. I'm like, "But, Jesus, I seen1:10:46you first hand let people walk out."1:10:49You know? So, yeah. So, like similar to1:10:51how you were confirming what you already1:10:53know, you think you know that That was1:10:54my same thing, too. I already know.1:10:56>> Oh, yeah, sure, But, I was just1:10:57confirming.1:10:57>> Sure, buddy. Okay, so tell me what's the1:10:59first thing you're going to buy with1:11:00your trillion dollars.1:11:02>> [laughter]1:11:02>> I 10 minutes with Jesus.1:11:06>> [gasps]1:11:06>> Um1:11:08No, I'd probably ask Jesus things while1:11:10>> to ask. You didn't choose the No, no,1:11:12no. It's okay.1:11:13>> Look freaking legalistic Pharisee1:11:15Jeremy. On a podcast.1:11:17>> Jeremy, your name is Jeremy. Jeremy.1:11:19>> Jeremy. Cuz you have pheromones. Hey,1:11:22but but that's so funny that like a1:11:24hypothetical podcast and I don't let him1:11:26>> Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um I'd probably ask1:11:29him, "What did I have for dinner last1:11:32night?"1:11:32>> [laughter]1:11:33>> Make sure he's real. Yeah, yeah. It's1:11:35like how many fingers am I holding?1:11:38Um I would probably ask all the1:11:40classics. I haven't read the Bible,1:11:41obviously, and I can only therefore go1:11:44off of what other people tell me it1:11:45says. So, if I had the opportunity to1:11:47just ask him to his face, I'd be like,1:11:49"What is popularly true versus what is1:11:52popularly exaggerated?" Like did the1:11:54world literally flood and there was1:11:56literally two of every animal on a boat?1:11:58Just things like certain stories like1:11:59that. Things like um That's valid.1:12:02>> Asking how much of the Bible was literal1:12:04versus like human interpretation of1:12:05that's word.1:12:07>> Dang, Aaron. Big brain Aaron. Which1:12:09would be really important for me and my1:12:11own salvation because then it's like,1:12:12"Okay, what1:12:14what if1:12:15is the if they was like, "Oh, it's all1:12:17100% freaking true." It's like, "Great.1:12:19Let me Let me read this book that Hey,1:12:20you know what's so funny?1:12:22>> [laughter]1:12:24>> Jesus appears and he's like, "Now,1:12:25confirm all these things and then I'll1:12:27believe you." It's like he's like,1:12:28"Dude, I'm right here." Like I just1:12:31appeared. Like is that1:12:32>> a lot of I mean, look at there's a lot1:12:34of misconceptions. Look at um James1:12:36Sexton who said, "Oh, I believe in1:12:38Jesus. I just don't believe he was God's1:12:39son." It's like that's just You can ask1:12:41him things like that. Okay. How was Mary1:12:44impregnated? Or a lot of people There's1:12:45just, you know,1:12:47the common questions. And sure, you can1:12:50have faith and believe him, but if the1:12:51man is standing right in front of you,1:12:52you're going to be like, "That was true,1:12:53right?" Like, you're going to just Maybe1:12:55you guys wouldn't, but He's like he's1:12:56like he's like he's like, "That was1:12:58true, right?" He grabs a water bottle.1:12:59He's like, "Shoop!" It's wine.1:13:02Here, drink this.1:13:04Woah. He's like, "You tell me if it was1:13:06true or not."1:13:07>> [laughter]1:13:07>> You could taste the truth. But yeah, we1:13:09don't need to know those answers. We1:13:10have all the answers. Yeah. So, I want1:13:12the trillion dollars. Wow.1:13:15>> something I don't have.1:13:17True.1:13:18That's [laughter] something I don't have1:13:19either. Now I understand his I I1:13:21understand his answer from earlier. That1:13:23was a lawyer.1:13:25>> [laughter]1:13:27>> All right. So, if you had a trillion1:13:28dollars, what would you buy first?1:13:29What's the first thing you'd buy? I want1:13:31everyone really quickly before I move1:13:33on. I want everyone to leave a comment1:13:34what they would ask Jesus. If you had1:13:35one one question, one question, what1:13:38would you ask Jesus? Got to be1:13:39completely truthful about it. There's no1:13:41games or lies. Just what would you ask?1:13:43>> And then I'll answer them on the next1:13:44podcast.1:13:46>> [laughter]1:13:48>> This guy is going to1:13:49>> what I'd buy. I had a trillion dollars.1:13:50What would you buy? Private jet1:13:52immediately.1:13:53>> [laughter]1:13:54>> What? You love it. You're obsessed with1:13:55that. Just comfortable travel. Johnny1:13:57Copeland. Yeah, we don't have a trillion1:14:00dollars.1:14:00>> It's never1:14:01>> [laughter]1:14:02>> And then they get to ask you, "How did1:14:04you get the trillion dollars?" Like,1:14:05"Turned down a meeting with Jesus."1:14:07>> [laughter]1:14:07>> We knew you antichrist.1:14:10That's so true. He's like, "This guy's1:14:12horrible."1:14:13>> [laughter]1:14:14>> You're in the private jet like, "Yeah.1:14:16See him in the next lifetime."1:14:18Um okay. So, You love private jets. I1:14:21know you love it. They're basically1:14:23If money is no object whatsoever, not1:14:25even the trillion marker, the first1:14:27thing that you would prioritize,1:14:29apparently, comfortable travel, is like1:14:31the once a month that you travel. I I1:14:33would No, I'd get a private I'd get a1:14:34driver. I'd get a private jet. I'd get1:14:37Dude, you have learned nothing from me.1:14:40>> [laughter]1:14:40>> Literally nothing, dude. Do you know1:14:42what I would build if I had a million1:14:44dollars? A a dollars? I would build1:14:4810 churches in every state.1:14:51Performative are the large churches.1:14:52>> [laughter]1:14:56>> He said performative is crazy. Shut the1:14:58podcast off right now.1:15:00That was hilar- No, legit though. Think1:15:02about how many people You guys don't1:15:04know. Yes, you guys know. Obviously,1:15:05that's coming next. No, it's not. I have1:15:07a trillion [laughter] dollars.1:15:09You didn't let ME FINISH MY ANSWER. I1:15:11have a trillion dollars.1:15:12>> I going to fly to each state to build1:15:14churches? Hey, but you Hey, but Hey, do1:15:16you guys honestly think I would do1:15:17nothing humanitarian? By a trillion1:15:20dollars? I just said No, I know you1:15:22wouldn't. You would get the first thing.1:15:23You would get the first thing. You would1:15:24get a a sauna that's worth 500 billion1:15:27dollars.1:15:28>> [laughter]1:15:28>> Literally.1:15:30Another 500 billion, you'd build your1:15:32own compound and keep people out.1:15:35>> [laughter]1:15:36>> That's that, bro.1:15:38And I'd build one church.1:15:41>> [laughter]1:15:41>> Okay, you would build churches. What's1:15:43the first thing that you would do for1:15:45yourself?1:15:46>> I know that's also for yourself in a1:15:48way, but what's the first thing that you1:15:49would do purely for yourself? What's the1:15:51first selfish thing you would do? I1:15:52would buy my parents a home. Okay, that1:15:55is not That did not1:15:57No, that's1:15:58selfish thing. That's selfish. I want my1:16:00parents to have a house. What the hell?1:16:02>> That is a good answer, but I'd buy my1:16:04[clears throat] brother James a house.1:16:06>> [laughter]1:16:07>> No, legit.1:16:08He can't say one thing. He can't be like1:16:10things that I have. I legit have things1:16:12that I have. Like what what what else do1:16:14you have? money from us. I knew it.1:16:17I have things that I have. I'm good.1:16:19If when you go to prison and you live in1:16:21a freaking bathroom,1:16:24this place is not I would get myself a1:16:26house. There you go. There you go.1:16:28>> I would get myself a nice house, like a1:16:30beach property. All right, here you go.1:16:32So, you prioritize living and you1:16:34prioritize travel.1:16:35>> Yeah. A nice beach house.1:16:36>> my parents a private jet. Does my answer1:16:38become a little more Oh.1:16:40>> [laughter]1:16:41>> Performative.1:16:43Yeah, none of you guys are are like,1:16:45"Oh, that's very nice, Jeremy."1:16:46[laughter]1:16:47I get my I get Johnny a private jet.1:16:50Hey Johnny, what you doing this weekend?1:16:53Dude, performative.1:16:54>> [laughter]1:16:54>> Yeah. That's golden.1:16:56>> [snorts]1:16:56>> No, but genuinely though, I'd buy myself1:16:58a place, I'd buy my parents I'd buy my1:17:00family, my whole family a a nice like1:17:02estate, not just a place but an estate.1:17:05Yeah. Let them have their own spot.1:17:07Um yeah, that's pretty much it. And then1:17:10I would build out hell of churches. So,1:17:12all the caught people would just go to1:17:14churches. Mhm. Cuz that's the thing,1:17:16they they always I know how they feel1:17:18so, so you guys don't know, man. Like1:17:20certain brothers and sisters, I could1:17:21just sense the sadness. Like it's not a1:17:23bad thing.1:17:25>> [clears throat]1:17:25>> But when they see our meetups and they1:17:27can't come.1:17:27>> Yeah. When they see like, "Oh, we're1:17:30part of the church, you know?" And and1:17:31like they're just like, "Dang, man. Like1:17:34I wish I could have that." So, I I know1:17:36how it feels to be part of a church. It1:17:38it's great to have that community. When1:17:40you're just sitting at home and you1:17:41your church is Zoom, which again, is1:17:43still a good thing.1:17:44>> Yeah. But it's like, "Dang, I do sense1:17:46it." And that's why sometimes1:17:48>> Yeah. Sometimes I tell the brothers and1:17:49sisters like,1:17:51"Chill with that." They go to church and1:17:52they complain and I'm like, "You don't1:17:54even know that there's freaking people1:17:56who don't who would kill to be in like a1:17:58church community in person, you know? To1:18:01have guidance directly from a pastor, be1:18:03told what to do."1:18:04People it's weird. It's like you1:18:06complain when you don't have it and when1:18:07you do have it, you also complain that1:18:09you that it's not good enough. It's all1:18:11of these freaking expectations, man.1:18:14It's always expec- Everything is always1:18:16expectations. I swear to you, everything1:18:18is always expectations. So, Dang, I1:18:20think that's a good way to end it. And1:18:22also, we can come to you, just text in.1:18:25Live events are coming back. We'll come1:18:27to your city. We're going to go to like1:18:28We're literally re-looking at the sheet1:18:30of all the hosts that have submitted1:18:32churches, all the cities that have1:18:33texted in. We're just going going it1:18:35easy on ourselves and we're just going1:18:36to go to the places that there's tons of1:18:38people waiting for us, and there's1:18:40churches that want to host us, cuz we'll1:18:42go to like North Carolina,1:18:44Chicago, Portland, you know? So, it1:18:47doesn't got to be the biggest city,1:18:48either. Like, we're just going to go1:18:49where there's a lot of caught people1:18:51texting in that want us there, and where1:18:53there's churches that have buildings.1:18:55Because the other frustration, like1:18:57Miami, like no church hit us up, and we1:18:59had to go in a park and a beach, and you1:19:00guys were very cool with it, but like1:19:02>> wouldn't it be nice if we just had a1:19:04building uninterrupted? Figgity facts.1:19:06>> So.1:19:06Yeah, if we had a trillion dollars, and1:19:08you built churches everywhere Dude, we1:19:10go everywhere.1:19:10>> go anywhere. On my private jet, we could1:19:13go to more events because we go faster.1:19:15>> Wow.1:19:17Man, private jets are the ones that1:19:18crash the most, though.1:19:20That's right.1:19:21>> If you get a tiny one You think I'm1:19:23getting a Do we got a trillion dollars?1:19:25Get a parachute. G750.1:19:27>> [laughter]1:19:28>> G7, is that what it is? A G700?1:19:30>> now.1:19:31>> A G9? Is there a G9 now? I'm trying to1:19:34get the Air Drake.1:19:35Yeah, like a Bomb I don't even know how1:19:37to say the name of it. It's like a1:19:38Bombardie Global Bol Bombard1:19:41Bombardier? Bombardier? Is it1:19:43Bombardier?1:19:44>> No, it's 747.1:19:46>> 747 Bombardier. Oh, is that what it is?1:19:49Yeah, yeah, it's like a bigger one.1:19:51If I had a trillion dollars, I'd get the1:19:52new Xbox.1:19:54>> [laughter]1:19:56>> Like dude.1:19:57>> All right, guys. Well, that concludes1:20:00our episode of the Unlearned Wisdom1:20:02podcast. I hope you guys were able to1:20:04find this really resourceful. I know1:20:06that loneliness is like all jokes aside1:20:08is a really big thing. It's almost like1:20:10a epidemic, right? Like a pandemic. Like1:20:12a lot of people struggle with it. I1:20:14believe it's a universal language. So,1:20:16rewatch these things, and if you guys1:20:18want any of your questions answered,1:20:20too, like write them in the comments.1:20:21You never know. And a lot of people may1:20:23have those questions, and we may answer1:20:25that in the next episode, or on a live,1:20:27or on a main stage. So, you know,1:20:29comment, guys, and let us know. And be1:20:31as thorough as you want. Like you don't1:20:33have to do one-line answers like legit1:20:35like explain your situation and we'll1:20:39help you guys out.1:20:39>> I'm loving the timestamps, too, where1:20:41you told people to leave timestamps.1:20:42>> Yeah, leave timestamps, too. Yeah, leave1:20:45timestamps your favorite parts and Got1:20:47to remember to do that in the beginning1:20:48of the episode.1:20:50We keep forgetting.1:20:50>> That concludes episode. See you guys1:20:52there. And we end always in Unlearn1:20:54Wisdom fashion with the prayer. So, let1:20:57us bow our heads. This is a prayer for1:21:00loneliness. Father God,1:21:02please allow me to understand and all1:21:03the viewers here to know that we1:21:05are always with you, Father God, and1:21:07you're always with us. You're an1:21:08omnipotent God, omniscient God, meaning1:21:10you're always everywhere all the time1:21:12and you know everything all the time.1:21:13Lord, you never sleep nor slumber, but1:21:16many of us we feel disconnected with1:21:18you. And how can we be disconnected?1:21:20It's because the enemy feeds us lies. He1:21:22tries to shape our reality by telling us1:21:25his lies as truth. Lord, I rebuke those1:21:28in Jesus' name. Lord, those thoughts1:21:30that come from Satan, that tell us that1:21:32we are wicked and we cannot live without1:21:35you, Father God. Rather, our thoughts1:21:37are you're with us, Lord. No matter what1:21:40we do, no matter what we say, you can1:21:41never disconnect from us. There is no1:21:44separation from you because you're1:21:45always there, Lord. And for that we're1:21:47forever grateful. We're forever1:21:49thankful, Lord. You sent your only son1:21:51not only to restore us, Father God, but1:21:53to die for us to make us righteous and1:21:55perfected and holy. And I ask God that1:21:57you allow the brothers and sisters that1:21:59feelings are just feelings1:22:02to understand that feelings are just1:22:03feelings and that they're no more1:22:05important than the enemy's words. Lord,1:22:08please allow us to put that down, to1:22:10only trust your word above our thoughts,1:22:12Lord, and to believe in this ministry of1:22:15reconciliation where you reconciled us1:22:18back to Jesus Christ. Thank you, Father1:22:20God. We leave everything in your hands,1:22:21Lord, and in Jesus' name we pray. Amen.1:22:24Amen.1:22:25>> Amen. Hallelujah. Comment and subscribe.1:22:27Selah.
