0:00Welcome to another episode on the0:02Unlearn Wisdom podcast with yours truly.0:05Today we're t Oh, shoot. I have to do0:08the intro. I always forget the intro.0:11Where each episode is a gospel- centered0:13lesson that you could apply to your life0:16today. Today.0:20And we're doing episode 42 today, which0:23is New Year's. Yay.0:25>> Yay.0:27>> New year, new me. New year, new you.0:30>> When this episode drops, what is it,0:32like two days before the New Year's?0:33>> Yeah. 29th.0:34>> Wow.0:35>> Sheesh.0:36>> Did you uh0:38>> Did you ever get a New Year's kiss?0:41>> Is that a thing?0:42>> Yeah.0:43>> A New Year's kiss.0:44>> You didn't have that in prison.0:46[laughter]0:48>> Jump them.0:49>> No, I never had a New Year's kiss.0:52>> So, you said in prison that Thanksgiving0:54and New Year's I mean, sorry,0:55Thanksgiving and birthdays were no good.0:56But what about New Year's? cuz it's like0:58one year closer to your getting out of1:00there.1:00>> It depends unless you're a lifer. But1:03yeah, most of the time it depends again1:04on the yard. Some of them have different1:06cultures. Some inmates celebrate it.1:08Some inmates don't even in the prison1:10system. So it just depends. But I I1:13didn't I just being Chinese, we didn't1:16really celebrate. The only New Year's we1:18celebrate is Chinese New Year, man.1:20[laughter]1:21Okay. You get the Kong Voy, you get the1:24You get the what's it called? Shina,1:28right? And the red red envelope and the1:30lysi for the Cantonese people and all1:32that stuff. So yeah, we we we just1:34celebrated that cuz we're narcissistic.1:36>> Why is Chinese New Year a different1:38time? Like what's what1:39>> lunar It's called the Lunar New Year.1:41>> They're measuring it off of what though?1:43>> I don't even know. I'm not even Chinese.1:45I'm Mexican.1:46>> Yeah, I trust them though because1:48Chinese are superior at math. So1:50[laughter]1:50I believe that their calendar is right1:52and ours is backwards.1:54>> [laughter]1:55>> Like do you know that in Korea they1:57count the time you're in the womb?1:58>> That's Chinese people too. So they have2:00like a Chinese age and like American2:02age. So I wouldn't be 36. I would be2:04like 36 plus 9 months basically.2:07>> Oh really?2:08>> Yeah.2:09>> Dang. So you come out basically one?2:11>> Yeah. Basically2:12>> that's like my apartment. The first2:13floor is called one even though it's2:17what2:17>> it just clicked in my head. Asians2:20celebrate all the baby or Koreans at2:22least the 100 day birthday. That's three2:24months plus the nine months. That's the2:26first year technically for the baby.2:29>> Oh my god. You're a smart man, dude.2:31>> Wow. So a lot of Asians they celebrate2:34your 100 days when you're after you come2:36out the womb2:37>> and it's like a very big party and they2:40put in front of the baby it'll be like2:43>> money2:44>> maybe something sports related or2:46something else or like maybe like a book2:48or something and sees what the baby2:49crawls. I don't remember what I grabbed.2:51I probably grabbed all three.2:52>> You don't remember your party?2:55>> What?2:56>> You don't remember your 100 day party?2:57>> Nah, I was I got too drunk.2:59>> What was the things again in the front?3:02I thought it was like money.3:03>> Money calculator.3:04>> Yeah. And then like something like had3:07having to do with like physical.3:08>> Oh, I grabbed the gun. [laughter]3:12>> Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't grab the I3:13grabbed the knife.3:15>> I was a chef.3:16>> Oh,3:17>> yes, chef.3:18>> What was the gun for?3:20>> Uh,3:22next question.3:22>> He's like, "Just kidding. I grabbed the3:24dime bag." [laughter]3:26>> D bag is crazy.3:30the scale.3:31>> Yeah.3:32>> All right. Sorry. Do you like Do you3:33guys like New Year's?3:35>> Yeah.3:36>> I mean, it's just for me. I'm sorry.3:40It's just another day. Birthdays just3:41another day. Valentine's Day just3:44another day. Everything is just another3:47day for me, man.3:48>> I agree.3:48>> Everyone trips about that stuff. Like,3:50you didn't get me my present. I'm like,3:52yo, honestly, I It's just another day.3:56Relax. Yeah. Hey, but what if it means3:58something to somebody else?4:00>> True. But4:00>> how am I the Grinch, by the way?4:02>> You are the Grinch. You are listening to4:04this guy. Wiggling out of this. But4:05you're sitting here like, "True." Yeah.4:07>> But you listening to this guy. This4:09guy's the one that's like I'm the one4:10who just counterargued. I'm like, "What4:12about if it makes someone feel special?"4:13>> Well, obviously, but I was talking about4:15me. I'm saying it doesn't make it. It's4:17not special to me.4:19>> I don't care respectfully. Like people4:22forget my birthday all the time. Oh my4:24gosh, Johnny. I forgot your birthday.4:25like it's okay. [laughter]4:27I'm still alive. You're still alive.4:30We're cool. You know, like I just Yeah.4:32For me, it's just not a thing. However,4:34if people want to give, that's amazing.4:36And I'm just I'm also I think also I'm4:39salty because I'm not a good giftgiver.4:42>> I It's crazy. I can think about other4:44people on other levels, but when it4:46comes to gifts, I'm like like I4:49literally freeze.4:50>> Wow.4:50>> I'm like I'm the type to get you boxers4:52and and socks and you're a girl. Like4:55[laughter]4:56>> I mean I'm just the type of guy to not4:58get you anything. Honestly, it's really4:59bad. I'm a If you get them anything,5:01even if it's thoughtless, it's like,5:02okay, at least it's a good gift.5:04>> That's not true. Because you gave5:06Sleepywah so many gifts.5:08>> True.5:09>> Well, that's different.5:10>> Why?5:12>> Because Sleepywah and I pick up things5:15for each other throughout the year, and5:16we're just like, "Oh, that's what sleeps5:17would like. That's what Aaron would5:18like." And then when we meet once a5:19year, we exchange everything.5:22if it had to be on a date like her5:24birthday or something like I'll be5:25honest, your birthday came and went this5:27year and I was like crap I need to get5:28her a birthday gift. I was like I5:30ordered it after the fact. I'm the guy5:32who will get you like a birthday gift5:33like a week and a half late cuz I'm just5:35like5:35>> who plans ahead like that? Like it's5:37just like I'm not that good. I'm not5:39that good.5:39>> No, for sure.5:40>> You have to be very very very thoughtful5:42and like remember things. My old old5:44boss was really good at giftgiving. Like5:47crazy thoughtful. And what he would do5:49in meetings is when he would leave, he5:51it would also be by speed. So he'd be in5:53a meeting with someone and someone would5:54be like, "Oh, like you know, I really5:56wanted to see like blah blah blah is my5:58favorite artist." And he'd like figure5:59out that that favorite artist was in6:01town and like get tickets dropped off6:03that day or something. Yeah.6:05>> But because of it though,6:07>> he would make crazy opportunities6:09happen.6:09>> Well, yeah. Dang. That's heart gaining6:121016:13>> for real.6:14>> Really? Like gift giving?6:15>> Yeah. That's6:16>> thoughtful gift giving.6:17>> Yeah. because it opens people's hearts6:18like, "Hey, I thought about you." Wait,6:20what? You thought about I said that6:22seven months ago about this thing and6:23like you kept that in mind. It does.6:26Okay, I understand people feel fuzzy6:28inside about it. So that that does make6:31sense. Even then though, I still suck.6:33He also he also would make his assistant6:36handwrite cards for every single like6:39meeting that he had with somebody to6:41deliver with the gift. And then on top6:42of that, every Christmas he would figure6:45out the list of everybody, make this6:47huge list of everybody that we worked6:49with that we did something with and send6:51them like a gift.6:52>> Was pretty wild.6:53>> That is crazy.6:54>> Yeah. Every single Christmas.6:56>> Wow.6:56>> I tried I tried to give gift a gift to6:59Jeremy. Um he talked about saunas and7:02stuff. So I started looking at saunas7:04and then all of a sudden Jeremy CC was7:07like, "Well, saunas have microlastics7:09and the glue and and I'm just like, you7:11know what? just f my life then. I tried7:13[laughter] I literally tried to be7:15thoughtful and thankful. I was I'll get7:16you one. Cost like six G's. He's like,7:19"No, I'm good." I'm like, "Okay, I'm7:20just going to take my six G's and just7:22cry." [laughter] Literally, I appreciate7:25the thought, though.7:26>> Yeah, I tried.7:27>> Hey, but what I'm going to do is you7:28know how when sometimes a video pops up7:30on your algorithm and you're like,7:31"Serve it to their algorithm."7:33>> Yeah.7:33>> I'm just going to hope that this one7:35sauna gets served to his algorithm.7:38>> Yeah.7:39>> The perfect one. The perfect one. I7:41learned so much about saunas once I7:42wanted to get one.7:43>> Yeah.7:44>> Yeah. But anyways, um I think that this7:47is a time of reflection and there's some7:49really cool things that have happened at7:51Core of the Heart. I have 10 major7:54highlights that I would like to share7:55with the audience.7:56>> Yeah, let's go. Okay.7:58>> Okay. and and the t and and really like7:59to start it all off is literally at this8:02time last year we it was the three of us8:05with Caleb an agency we were just8:07working with and we walked into a prison8:10with every last penny spent towards the8:12documentary $15,000 to shoot that8:14documentary.8:15>> Wow.8:16>> And it was three of us and today we now8:18have 33 people including ourselves that8:21work for Core of the Heart.8:23>> Hallelujah. That's crazy.8:25>> Crazy. That was one year ago. One year.8:28Holy moly.8:29>> Podcast wasn't even around then.8:31>> Unlearned wisdom was not around. Yep.8:33>> True.8:34>> Oh my gosh.8:35>> Yeah. So, think about how fast this8:36thing has grown in that amount of think8:38about how much that can change in year.8:40And honestly, I'm saying that for people8:42in the audience, right, that are8:44thinking, oh, like, you know, I feel8:46like I'm behind in life or all you got8:48to do is start. And I think that I I it8:52was somebody put it in a really8:53beautiful way. They're like, "We always8:55try to put things in human time." Like,8:57"Oh my gosh, this is going to take so8:59much time." Um, whatever it is, but like9:01you you can't calculate God time.9:03>> Yes.9:04>> Like the things that have happened in9:05this year outside of our hard work has9:07just been9:08>> things that came out the blue out of9:09nowhere. You know, people that wanted to9:11help us, events that happened,9:13>> all of the above.9:14>> So true. You guys don't even know. God9:15has been giving us alleyoops all day.9:18It's so crazy. There's so just from from9:22everything that's happened, every9:24intricate part, whether it's9:25financially, whether it's connections,9:27whether it's going to Sweden, God has9:29literally like lined everything up for9:31us to the point where it's it's just9:34it's undeniable that it's him. So yeah,9:37when you grow with God, you basically9:40sit back and just let him work. And it's9:42it's crazy to be able to see in a year9:45and some change9:46>> how far we've actually progressed. And9:50yeah, that's that's wild. That is wild.9:52>> So, highlight. Should I go back? Well,9:53highlight number one. Yeah. Our9:55community grew 208 point 28%.9:59Guess how many followers you have now10:02>> across the board.10:03>> Just off Johnny Chang live. I didn't10:04even include the podcast following.10:07>> 2 million.10:08>> 3.7 million.10:10>> Oh my god.10:11>> 3.7 million.10:13>> Wow.10:13>> That's not including the podcast.10:14>> Not including the podcast.10:15>> Not including the podcast.10:16>> Not including the podcast. No, the10:18numbers don't mean anything, guys. Stay10:20humble. [laughter] Literally, that's the10:22comment that's going to come out.10:23>> Yeah. I mean, it's just it's just like10:25it's just cool to see that the message10:27that you preach has re has affected that10:30many people where they want to follow10:32and continue to listen, pay attention.10:34That's pretty significant to me.10:40>> And this is why we have to move.10:42>> We've had to go through 700 sirens.10:45[laughter]10:46>> Yeah. 5,000 helicopters10:49and the screams of 627 zombies.10:53[laughter]10:55[snorts]10:55>> Yeah. But wow, that's actually wild,10:57man. Sheesh. Okay,10:59>> so I I also kind of think it in11:01perspective of like, you know, starting11:02a church, right? Starting a church is so11:05hard. You hear the stories of where good11:07news started and, you know, it starts11:09with like five people in a house over11:11time. And so it's kind of wild that11:13because of the internet, you're able to11:15build an audience of almost 4 million in11:18a year.11:19>> That is crazy. In a year is wild.11:22>> In a year is crazy. Holy.11:24>> Um, okay. The number two is11:27>> we hit 395 million total views in 2025.11:32That's averaging 32.9 million views per11:35month. And one that's one million about11:38one million views per day all organic.11:41>> Oh my gosh. So we reach a million view a11:46million views a day.11:47>> Every single day.11:48>> Wow.11:48>> Holy moly.11:50>> Yeah.11:50>> No wonder people stop us at the airport.11:52>> Yeah.11:53>> That's crazy. Oh my lord. Okay, cool. I11:57didn't know, guys. Again, unbeknownst to11:59me, I didn't know any of this stuff.12:00>> Yeah, it's just it's cool to see the12:02effort. That was again three people last12:04year. So, it's just been going like12:06this, you know.12:07>> Wow, dude. Lord, praise [clears throat]12:10God.12:10>> We created and released 515 short form12:13videos.12:15>> 515.12:18>> Just pumping the airways.12:19>> Yeah. 515 short form videos.12:23>> Three a day times 30.12:24>> Yeah, it should be more.12:27I don't think we ramped it up until like12:30>> Yeah, it's kind of been like a It was12:32It's not like a12:34>> linear and then we we we 3xed it, right?12:37>> I guess that's true.12:38>> Yeah.12:38>> Yeah.12:39>> So, that's still a lot. That's still12:41crazy as heck.12:42>> And we created and released 198 long12:44form videos. So, these are 5 minutes12:46plus in length.12:47>> Wow.12:48>> On YouTube.12:49>> Wow.12:49>> Yep. We bootstrapped our first prison12:52documentary for 15,000 bucks that did12:55over 1 million views in 44 days when our12:57original goal was 500,000 views in 313:00months.13:00>> Yeah.13:01>> So again, it's like these little these13:03little things that happen like just13:05absolutely every time we have these13:07expectations like God will13:09>> maximize it even bigger.13:10>> Yeah. Hundo P.13:12>> Um that was number five. Number six, we13:14launched a gospel center podcast 1013:16months ago that charted number two in13:18five different countries in the13:20spirituality and religion category. So13:22that's pretty cool. Global13:24>> higher13:25>> global. And then number seven is we hit13:261.9 million views in prisons across13:28America through pando.tv13:31with over13:32>> this is the cool fact with over 52,00013:34prisoners subscribed to our content13:36leading to 3,49213:39digital salvations.13:41[laughter]13:41>> Yeah. So, shout out God behind bars.13:43>> Let's go. Shout out God behind bars and13:45handle app. Let's go, man.13:47>> Wow.13:48>> Yeah. But it's kind of crazy. 1.913:50million views in prison.13:51>> Yeah. In prison is wild.13:53>> Yeah.13:53>> And then to have 3,000 plus salvies is13:56crazy.13:57>> Yep.13:57>> It's like and 500,000 subscri What was14:01it? 514:01>> uh we have 50 52,000 subscribers.14:04>> Wow.14:04>> That means 52,000 people are waiting for14:07our content every single time it drops.14:08>> Yep. Well, it's not one for one because14:10they have to share their tablets.14:12>> True. So, the tablet could be more.14:14>> Yep. They watch it together or whatever14:15it is. But what's cool is they said14:17something like there's 700,000 tablets.14:20So, if we just want to do that math, if14:22we got 1.9 million views, it's like14:23we've at least every prisoners watched14:25us twice or something like that. If it14:27was that one for one.14:28>> True.14:29>> Super cool. Um, we had over 20 thou I14:32think we had more attendees. I didn't do14:33the math right on this. across we had14:35over 20,000 maybe 30,000 attendees14:38across 12 events in seven different14:40states.14:40>> Wow.14:41>> So it was like New Orleans, Whittier, uh14:44New York,14:44>> South by Southwest.14:46>> South by Southwest, El Paso,14:48>> Orlando, Miami,14:51uh14:51>> you're missing a big one. You know, was14:52this year in February? First week of14:54February.14:55>> Yes. Arizona.14:56>> Arizona.14:57>> Y14:59twice this this year.15:00>> Yeah.15:01>> True.15:01>> Yeah. So yeah, we just we've been I15:03didn't know it was 12. That's one a15:06month.15:06>> 12 is basically Yeah. equates to one a15:08month.15:08>> Yeah, we've been we've been smooing and15:10it's going to be I think it's going to15:12be more next year since we're going to15:13do like weekends like multiple cities in15:15a weekend now.15:16>> And then Mr. Johnny Chang live streamed15:18over 343 hours.15:21>> That's close to an hour a day.15:23Consistency is crazy. And you did uh at15:27least 168 individual sessions. I know15:30that number is low because you do15:31mainstages like three or four times a15:33week. Like15:34>> it's wild. So I think more than half the15:37year you've live you've been on live.15:40>> Yeah. Live on live, guys.15:42>> Yeah. You know,15:43>> you know, Gossip is officially live. I15:46made an AI chatbot built from everything15:48I've ever taught. Check the17:07link in the description for sign up17:08instructions. And then uh we shared the17:10gospel inside three different prisons in17:12three counties,17:14>> which is very cool, too.17:15>> Wow.17:16>> We did a lot this year.17:18>> Yeah.17:18>> But it's not enough.17:20>> True. Keep it going. Drop in the bucket.17:23Stay humble.17:25>> No, I was just joking. It's a lot.17:26>> No,17:27>> it's never enough.17:29>> Your insensable quench for17:31>> my insatiable.17:32>> Insatiable.17:33>> Yeah. Unquenchable. You You combine17:35insatiable and unquenchable. [laughter]17:38>> In quenchable. Ins. [gasps]17:41So, what do you guys think?17:43>> I think that's wild. I think when you're17:45just moving and smooing, you don't take17:48time. As you had mentioned, reflection17:50is a very important thing. When you17:53don't reflect, you get caught up in17:55busyiness. And then in the busyiness,17:57you can miss so many things. You know17:59what? I think the enemy honestly tries18:01really hard too to like keep us so busy18:04that we don't appreciate the W's.18:07>> And so I was able to kind of just18:09hearing that is very mind-blowing is to18:12go, "What? We did that much in a year18:15and some change is crazy." genuinely18:18crazy. So, I'm just very thankful to sit18:20back and and do all of that and reflect18:22on all of those things cuz especially in18:25our church, you guys know like we don't18:27really count like those types of things.18:29We just keep preaching the gospel to the18:31ends of the earth. And I realized it's18:33the same as um BB King. He's a he's a18:36great saxoponist,18:37>> the jazz player.18:38>> Yeah.18:38>> He literally said when people asked him18:40in an interview, I remember seeing this,18:42they were like, "How did you get so18:44amazing?" He's like, I just kept playing18:46and I never thought I was that good.18:48>> Like legit, that's what we're doing.18:50We're just hot air ballooning everybody.18:52Like I'mma just keep preaching the18:54gospel and then like that's it, you18:56know? So to be able to see that,18:59>> I guess in numbers like breaking things19:01down, it brings it kind of to the19:03forefront is makes me very thankful and19:06and yeah, I appreciate all of that.19:08>> Wow.19:08>> Yeah. Yeah.19:09>> And if you think about it, we've19:10launched like 40 different channels,19:12like if you count Instagram, Tik Tok,19:15>> uh YouTube, Facebook, Facebook,19:17whatever. And then you take that to the19:18podcast and then you take that with19:20Spanish.19:20>> It's so crazy.19:22>> So crazy.19:22>> How many channels is it? 60 or what was19:25>> at this point? It's like 60 with all the19:27ones that you're creating too. It's like19:2860some.19:29>> And they're basically posting every day.19:31Almost all.19:32>> Almost. Almost all of them.19:34>> So it's so crazy. I saw a post. It was19:36like someone's like, "Post once a day.19:37Post two or three times a day." It's19:38like, "What if you posted 10 times a19:40day? What if you posted 30 times a day?"19:41I'm like,19:42>> "We do that every day, twice."19:44>> And that doesn't count literally. And19:46that doesn't count the clips channels19:47that,19:48>> right?19:49>> Clippies. Yeah.19:50>> So, just like posting 60 times every19:53single day is is insane. That's19:55>> You know, you know what they don't tell19:57you about that tip? Making new channels.19:59That's for another conversation. Yeah.20:01>> But that's20:01>> Wow.20:02>> But either way, I'm like, we did so that20:04no wonder no wonder we're tired.20:06>> Yeah. Congrats to to all of us. Good20:08job. Seriously,20:09>> good job. Good job.20:11>> And like honestly, I I be seeing it20:13happening in real time and we kind of we20:16retroactively talk about this stuff a20:18lot to where it's like it's not super20:20surprising because I've heard a lot of20:21this before and it's just like we work20:22really really hard and I expect it. But20:24there's a few things that really really20:26shocked me, surprised me this year.20:28Genuinely surprised me.20:30>> Um the documentary shooting past a20:32million.20:32>> That was nutty.20:33>> I did not see that one coming.20:35>> Yeah, that was wild. That one genuinely20:37I was like whoa because like we put20:39grueling hours into that like20:42>> you put just the the time in the prison.20:46It was just really really an insane20:48experience and kind of really to be20:49honest fell apart in production like20:52>> it did. They don't even know behind the20:54scenes what happened. [laughter]20:56What Aaron had editor one, editor two,20:58>> literally literally they cameraman one,21:00cameraman two on top of that.21:03>> Mind you, I don't know if you guys21:05remember, but we were literally running21:06like 2, three hours of sleep. Y21:08>> literally the whole time.21:10>> Almost killed us on the second day on21:11the drive back.21:12>> Legit. He was driving. Jeremy was And21:14then even your third day in Houston.21:16That's what I'm saying. Like you put in21:17the most insane hours that weekend.21:19>> Um it was just ridiculous to see. But21:21then, yeah, it totally fell apart. Like,21:23um, that's why Jeremy keeps emphasizing21:25it was crazy that it was us three guys21:26because back then it was us three guys.21:28Like,21:29>> we had no systems and processes.21:31[laughter] We just didn't know like21:33literally we didn't have a storyline. We21:35just said we're going to go in, God's21:36going to work, and then what happens?21:37And then God's like, "Yep, boom, a21:39millie."21:40>> It's and counting, you know? It's like,21:42dang. It's it's wild, bro. It's just21:45wild.21:45>> We've never even brought cameras into a21:47prison. Like, that was something that21:49kind of fell into our lap. Shout out21:50Tuan and shout out like Albert and Sean.21:53But it's just like they were like, "Will21:54you guys come with cameras?" And we're21:56like, "Sure, let's try it out." And21:57>> and we bootstrapped everything. We paid21:59for our own flights. We paid for pretty22:01much everything.22:02>> Yeah. And the donation from Twan.22:03>> We did get a donate, right? It was like,22:05you know, but he helped out too. But22:06man, we were like majority of it we22:08forked everything and it was just and it22:11was off deprived like sleep deprivation,22:14everything all together to then create22:16this masterpiece that a lot of you guys22:18don't know. We really put in a lot of22:20work here and it's like Jeremy has said22:22it many times like we crack I I crack22:25the whip in a lot of ways you know and22:26and Jeremy also the same. So we're just22:28like we're locked in and you guys are22:31able to like kind of hear it but just to22:34be able to live it it's wild. I think22:36that they see 5% of it truly because22:39what also people don't remember or what22:41don't realize is while we're shooting22:43the documentary, while we're going22:44through post-p production, we're still22:46putting out leveling up the clips,22:48whatever it is. And then on the side, we22:50were still22:51>> physically building this podcast for it22:53to launch the next month. Like we did so22:56much. There was always there was always22:58like22:59>> three, four major projects that we were23:01putting efforts into. And it's still23:02that right now. It's probably more major23:04projects right now. I think it's23:05beautiful that that God hasn't allowed23:07any of us to burn out.23:09>> For sure.23:09>> What's really cool, Jeremy's been23:11through burnout, Aaron, me, we've all23:13been through it, but the fact that we're23:15like the we're like the freaking three23:17like wise men, right? We just keep23:19going. Like it we don't stop. That's23:21that is kind of crazy, guys. You need a23:24team like that there. There's You can't23:26do it alone. It genuinely takes a23:27village. It's biblical. But you could23:30have three like two members on the team23:31and if one burns out like it just now23:34you got to carry their load. So it's so23:36much. So I appreciate you guys for not23:38burning out for setting up systems and23:40process. We went through a lot again23:42like you said 5% you guys don't know the23:4495% where we have to sit there we have23:46to break our hearts. We have to bend.23:48Everyone here is bending. Everyone's23:50here is like yo we got to work together23:51as a team. We all have to put our prides23:54aside constantly. It's not even like a23:56it's almost an everyday thing. And yet23:58the the the the masterpiece that comes24:00out of it out of humility, out of24:02bending, out of all of that, is these24:04prison documentaries, is this podcast24:06that you guys so like anxiously wait24:08every single Monday for, right? It's so24:11it's just amazing. It's honestly24:12amazing.24:13>> That's on top of weekly Bible class, the24:15mentorship, all the hours you put in.24:17And also, dude, we built a AI chatbot.24:20>> Oh my [snorts] god.24:20>> We're building an app. Like, it's it's24:22just crazy. Like, and we're only like I24:25would say we're a year and a half into24:27this. So, I'm really next year. I'm24:29super excited for it. Next year feels24:31like we now have a core team. We have a24:34lot of direction. The app is going to be24:36gamechanging for these people. We now24:38know what people want24:39>> based on why they come to you.24:41>> Um, I have a fire mission statement that24:43I came up with, but I'm going to present24:45it another day24:46>> on Thursday. But I'm like, I really we24:48we really have a clear direction of how24:50we're going to build all the best tools24:52and resources to help you guys with your24:54spirit your daily spiritual walk. You24:57guys ever think that you'd be doing24:58this?24:59>> No.25:00>> No.25:00>> Me?25:01>> No.25:01>> Yeah. [laughter]25:03>> No. Uh-huh.25:04>> No. But it's crazy looking back. And25:05it's crazy that Yeah. Like um like just25:07the amount of stuff that we put out if25:09it looks easy, that's how that's how you25:12know how hard it was.25:13>> She's a bar.25:15>> If none of y'all can tell the chaos25:17behind the scenes that it takes to put25:18out three pieces of content a day and25:20travel all these 12 different25:22>> podcast every week.25:23>> If it looked easy, know how difficult it25:26was. Because when it looks difficult,25:27they're they're probably haven't learned25:29the road or they're struggling or25:30whatever it is. Like the fact that it25:31looked this easy know how hard it was.25:34If you guys didn't notice the chaos,25:35like [clears throat] for example, the25:36documentary that we shot in December was25:39supposed to come out mid January, then25:41midFebruary, then mid-March. Now we're25:44here at the like middle of March at25:46South by Southwest kind of debuting it25:48for the first time. I mean, it's like25:49that took months of back and forth and25:52chaos and shipping hard drives and25:54editors taking trips to Dubai and just25:56like it was it was just craziness25:57>> leaving us on red.25:59>> And like honestly that just kind of that26:01sentiment mirrors like every project26:03like not that not that we're chaotic but26:06things will go wrong. Like no matter26:08what when you set out to do crazy26:09incredible things like things will go26:11wrong.26:11>> Also, we didn't have money for certain26:13things. It's like we had to make it work26:15for x amount of dollars. And we have all26:16of a lot of experience in the three26:18things that we've done. But a lot all26:20three of us have done things for the26:21first time now this year.26:23>> Seriously,26:24>> a lot of times honestly, it's a lot of26:26figuring out and it just like when you26:28have three people putting in genuinely26:30like 100 hour weeks all towards the same26:31mission which is furthering the kingdom,26:33it's like26:34>> greatness can happen. It's26:35>> and that's on top of all the ridicule,26:38people under watching us under26:39unsolicited opinions, the just our26:42friends looking at us like wait what26:43you're doing this like why? Right? And26:45it's like it's so cool to be able to26:47overcome all of that together. My my day26:50ones, guys. My day.26:52>> Okay, so now the comment number one that26:54I'd like you guys to write in the26:55comments like reflect on your year and26:58write something that you're incredibly27:00impressed with yourself that you were27:01able to accomplish.27:02>> Facts.27:03>> Yeah. Because even just here here27:05sitting that you're like, "Did you ever27:06think you were going to do this?" And27:07I'm like, "Absolutely not." Yeah.27:08>> And so when I think about it, it's like27:11I think about like it's kind of weird27:13that everything I did before was like27:16skill sets and mistakes or lessons that27:18I learned so that when I applied it to27:20this, it went that much better. Like27:22>> I grew a podcast beforehand. I was27:24behind the camera myself and I had to27:27manage a team and I burned out and all27:29of that. So then this time came around27:30it was like I'm going to make sure I27:32don't do the same things,27:33>> you know? So my perspective was27:35completely different of how I worked27:37with people or um you know the standards27:40that like we set for ourselves. Like had27:42I not known I probably would have just27:44been doing the same things all over27:45again. So I think that this time around27:48the reason why personally for me that I27:50don't have burnout is because27:51>> I made those painful mistakes before and27:53I'm doing everything to not do that27:55again.27:56>> Yeah.27:56>> Yeah.27:56>> I think just as a leader too of27:58everything I see a lot of you guys28:00listening too. I think receptive skills28:03has become a really good thing in both28:05of you guys. So that also helped a lot28:07because you could have the brain but28:09then if you have like even the systems28:11and processes but you guys don't listen28:13you we can't execute. It's literally28:15going to be this tip for tat like prove28:17it to me make it make sense and then28:19we'll do it. It's really more of like28:21okay you said it today in the in the in28:23the call right was like that's how it's28:26been. I've just allowed you guys to be28:28like, "All right, we're going to do it28:29by faith and let's just see how it28:31goes." And so, it was it was a really28:33beautiful thing for people to do that.28:35Genuinely, guys, the Bible teaches that.28:36Like, you may not know, but if you just28:38have faith and you follow, like, I don't28:40know anything about marketing. I follow28:42the two people who know about marketing28:44and this is where we're at now. Imagine28:46fighting tooth and nail. You've28:47experienced that where it's like every28:49little thing, prove it to me, make it28:50make sense, and then I'll move forward.28:52If we did that, we would not. Number28:54one, like we would suffer, but most28:55importantly, you guys would suffer. You28:57guys would suffer because you wouldn't28:58be able to get the content. We would go29:00different directions with the29:01documentary, etc., etc. Teams would29:03break, systems would break, all kinds of29:05things. So, I mean, just the obedience29:07aspect comes from surrendering and and29:10receptive skills. So, I appreciate you29:11guys for also trusting me as well. So,29:14yeah.29:14>> Yeah,29:15>> worked out.29:16>> It did.29:17>> I think God held on to it in a lot of29:18ways.29:19>> 100%. Hundo P. Um, do you guys want to29:22hear the other things that really29:23surprised you?29:24>> Yes. Yes. I can't believe that spurred29:25off the documentary.29:26>> That was just the documentary, but29:27there's a few other things that29:28genuinely surprised me this year that I29:30was not expecting. The other thing was29:32the turnout at the El Paso event.29:36[laughter]29:36>> What the heck was that?29:38>> What the heck was that? We were like,29:40"Okay, El Paso is lowkey a sleeper29:42city." Cuz it's like when you think of29:43Texas, you think of Dallas, Austin,29:45Houston, San Antonio. You don't really29:47El Paso, you don't really think of it29:49first. So, we went. We weren't really29:50expecting a ton. The UTP event s was29:53full. There was 100 kids that didn't get29:55in.29:55>> The next day at Abundant, 5,000 people.29:58Like when we walked out to do the live30:00video. At every event we walk out,30:02Johnny says hi to everyone who's been30:03waiting30:04>> when we walked out [laughter]30:06>> and the line just kept going, kept30:08going, kept going. I was like, "Oh my30:09gosh." And then we turned the corner and30:11it was just a mob of genuinely a30:13thousand people standing there and I was30:14like, "Oh my god,30:17>> that was really, really crazy." Dude,30:19what was crazy was like even then I was30:21like the church is huge. I was like,30:22"Oh, this will like fill up, you know,30:24the chairs or whatever and there should30:26be space and then they started letting30:28the people in and it was chaos." There30:30were people on the radios like get every30:32extra chair in the building like they30:34had to fill up.30:34>> All three of the overflows were filled.30:37>> They said has never happened right now.30:39>> And they they said like every every30:41month it's maybe a,000 people who show30:43up maybe 1,200,500.30:45That was 5,500 like slammed out to the30:49brim when I saw that huge room like30:51semicircle stadium of a room and then30:54they had to bring in more chairs into30:56that room like what [laughter]30:59>> that was absolutely bonkers and31:02unexpected.31:03>> I think what shocked me was when Pastor31:05Cruz was like potential. So what he said31:08was what we saw today when we're in the31:10back room we're having our pastoral31:11meetings he was like potential and that31:14means like it's not that El Paso doesn't31:17only has 1,600 people to come to the31:19culture night but like the fact that it31:21got packed out was like there are souls31:23who were you know so it was like wow31:25like there is potential if if preaching31:28the right gospel and everything guys if31:30you stay aligned right with the gospel31:33this is like the the the fruits of it31:36essentially Right. So we're living proof31:38of it all of us. And if you don't know31:40the gospel, you just follow someone who31:41does. That's also story of my life.31:44Literally a testament of my life is I31:46don't know anything. I just follow31:47Pastor Kim and this is what comes out of31:49it all. So it's it's really cool. That31:51surprised me too.31:53>> Did you ever think that your preaching31:55career would have gotten to this point?31:58Because you've been doing it for 1031:59years now, right?32:00>> Yeah.32:00>> And so this is your 10th year.32:03>> I I never thought that it would. I32:06genuinely thought that I was just going32:08to be a prison minister.32:09>> Like I knew I had a cool testimony32:11because many people would tell me that,32:13but I didn't think I would take it32:14online. I didn't think I would be32:16successful at that cuz again, I didn't32:18know how to do anything.32:20>> Everything that I did, I would pour my32:21heart into it. Yes, I built my own32:23website. Yes, I, you know, was editing32:25my own things off of YouTube University,32:28right? But like I didn't think that I32:30would get like this. When the Softwide32:32Underbelly interview happened and then32:34you started getting more audience, did32:35you think, "Oh, this is going to get32:37bigger or were you like, "Oh, this is32:39really cool." Or what were your32:40thoughts?32:40>> I just thought, "Oh, this is cool." I I32:43cried cuz I was like, "Wow, there's a32:44lot of people in the comments who really32:46like it." Did I think I was going to get32:48a platform, start, and have a freaking32:50whole media company and like have 3032:52employees under me? No. Right.32:54Obviously, I was like, "Oh, this is32:55amazing. Thank you, God. Glory to God."32:57My mindset was always, which I think33:00Pastor Kim kind of trained that and33:01almost indoctrinated into me, is like33:04it's all about the gospel. So for me, I33:06was more happy that it was all about the33:08gospel. I was like, yo, the comments cuz33:11I've seen on that secular platform,33:13shout out Mark, but it's secular, right?33:16There was like people bashing, oh this33:18girl's a whatever, this guy's a drug33:20addict, man, that's horrible on ours.33:23And this is what Mark has said himself.33:24He goes, "Johnny, your your episode has33:28hands down the most positive comments33:31ever." Like, everyone could relate to33:34this. People were like, "I don't know33:35about the Christian part, but the33:37forgiveness part and the emptiness he's33:38talking about, we all relate to that."33:40And so, it was just a a crazy thing.33:43Now, I I thought it was going to be a33:45banger because I saw Mark cry. And Mark33:48in the beginning, if he's behind the33:50camera, he'll attest to this. He was33:52just kind of like side like side tilting33:54me like when I started talking about33:55Jesus he's just like33:57>> the heck dude why but when I dropped the34:00bomb about you know God right about my34:02dad34:03>> uh and the forgiveness and34:04reconciliation he literally was like34:06balling behind the camera and I was like34:08whoa and I've seen that happen with34:10prisoners I've seen that happen with34:12people who didn't have good you know34:13relationships but when he said your34:16story made me think how thankful I am34:19for my parents so I thought initially34:22that Mark was, you know, didn't have a34:24good relationship with his mother and34:26father. Why would he be crying? He had a34:29great relationship, but through my34:32story, he even though he had a great34:34relationship, he was able to be like,34:35"Wow, there I it just made me that much34:38more thankful for my parents that they34:40didn't do me dirty like that, you know?"34:42So, right then, I kind of noticed just34:44like through wisdom and through the34:46spirit like this is something that34:48everyone's going to relate to. I knew34:50that. But I did I think it was going to34:52scale? No way. Did I think it would open34:55some doors and opportunities? Sure,34:57maybe. But not to get 3.7 million35:00followers, to bring two of the best35:02marketers, to bring people who are35:04literally submitted to us to open doors35:07to then get stopped at airports and35:09pretty much everywhere we go, we get35:11recognized at least by one, two, three35:13people. I didn't think that would ever35:15actually happen. And to be honest, I'm35:17still getting used to that. I'm still35:18getting used to like being stopped. I'm35:20still getting used to like inviting35:22people to our events and Jeremy's always35:24like,35:25>> "Did you forget to tell them something?"35:26I'm like, "Oh, yeah, my bad. Oh, we have35:28an event in Miami. We have" And they're35:30like, "Really?" And they don't know,35:31right? So, yeah. I I don't think it35:33never have I ever thought I thought I35:35was going to preach the gospel and be a35:37prison minister till I died. And honest35:38to God, I was happy with that. And I'm35:41still happy with that. I'm cool with35:42that. This is just extra. So again with35:45God like a testament to God just always35:49doing more than what you think it it35:50never is what you think it's going to35:52be.35:53>> Never35:54ne never35:57>> never35:57>> never man. Yeah that's crazy.36:00>> Uh do you still get surprised by the36:02amount of people who recognize you like36:03genuinely?36:04>> Yeah.36:05>> Like cuz like I was like we you were36:07talking about in the main stage. So36:09funny because we could be like for your36:10birthday we went out fishing and we36:12could be literally in the middle of the36:13Pacific Ocean. Gosh,36:15>> we could be miles away from shore and we36:17pull up to get gas from the dock at a36:19gas dock and the gas attendant. I go in36:22to pay and he's like, "Is that Johnny36:24Chang out there36:24>> through the wind the boat window a36:27little port hole?"36:28>> Yeah. We're like sitting in36:29>> the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It's36:30like, "Is that Johnny Chang?" I'm like,36:32"Yeah, you should go say hi." It's like36:33just cra you nowhere. Yeah. I can't take36:36bread. Nowhere this36:38>> nowhere.36:39Okay. Be honest. Is there anything that36:42you hate about about just kind of like36:45where or is there anything that's very36:46difficult about where it's gotten to?36:50>> Hate is a strong word.36:52>> The difficulty I would say is the36:56two things I think. The unsolicited36:59opinion things, right? Um37:01>> all the people making YouTube videos or37:04>> Yeah. It's just like37:04>> like review videos.37:06>> Yeah. It I guess not just that, but the37:09fact that you could talk about me, but37:11the fact that people won't research,37:13they'll just take that at face value and37:14be like, "This is what he's talking37:16about." You don't know how many times37:17I'll be on live and people will mention37:20that. Almost every live there's one who37:22goes, "Man, you know what? I saw all37:24those videos about you and I'm so glad I37:26didn't listen to it because I genuinely37:28thought like you were like that." And37:30then you're you're just passionate.37:32you're not like trying to be whatever37:33and you just stick to the gospel, right?37:36There's that. So, the second thing I37:38think is idol worship. There's a there's37:40this thing where I give people a lot of37:43unlocks and because I we're parasocial37:47and they I let them look into my life so37:50much, right? No hoes barred, right? They37:52then feel as though they know me. And so37:55when they meet me, there's this energy37:58of like you, I support you and you38:01didn't even acknowledge me. Well, me out38:04of 3.7 million people, so I don't like38:07you. And this happened even in Miami in38:09Orlando where people would just come up38:12to me and they'll be like, "Can I pray38:14over you?" And we're literally getting38:16kicked out. Do you guys remember by the38:18park rangers?38:19>> We're sweating. It's hot. They're going38:21to find us. They're hot. They're pissed.38:23We're like, "Hey guys, let's move over."38:25Because we could have easily shut it38:26down in our free event. And people are38:29like, "Brother, let me pray for you."38:30Jeremy's literally on the mic screaming,38:32"No questions, guys. We got to move.38:34They're literally kicking us out. We38:36need to go. No pictures. If we go over38:38there, new location, you can ask your38:40questions there." People just don't38:42care. And the fact that I was like, "Hey38:44guys, no, I I can't have you pray over38:46me. The rangers are here. They're going38:48to they're going to like start ticketing38:49us and escorting us out, and I don't38:51want that." And they're just like38:53they're pissed. There was a guy who38:55literally was like, "Yo, I hope you38:57don't let the fame get to your head."38:58And walked off with this girl.39:00>> And I was like, "Brother, we're getting39:03kicked out." Yeah. At a free event,39:06>> right? And I even said that. You know39:07what they said? Well, you guys should39:08have got the permits. And I'm just like,39:10"When is it your fault? When is it that39:13you're inconsiderate respectfully?"39:15Right? And so those things are very39:17difficult where I just have to suck it39:18up and be like, "All right, well, I'm39:20sorry I disappointed you." and they'll39:22walk off another person too, you know,39:24just challenging. Hey man, like I got39:26dreams and visions from God and it said39:28that I blasphemed and I was like,39:30"Brother, we're walking through the39:31tunnel and I'm still trying to like39:34catch up to everybody and figure out39:35where where we're going." And he's like,39:38"This dream, I had this dream and it39:39keeps telling me that I blasphemed God39:41and I'm not going to heaven." And I tell39:43him straight up scripture, Jeremiah 2939:458-9, number one, not from God. Those39:47dreams, those dreams specifically, not39:49from God. Don't listen to him. Yeah, but39:51brother, that's I have blasphemy. And39:53basically what he wanted me to tell him39:55was, "Yeah, you're gonna go to hell39:56then. I'm giving you scripture not to39:59listen to it." Brother's like, "But I am40:02going to listen to it and I did do those40:04things." This is conviction. Okay, then40:05be convicted all the way to hell. That's40:07not conviction. That's condemnation.40:08Right? So these little things where it's40:11like, I know you and I've seen you and I40:14know that you can unlock stuff, but when40:16I unlock it, it's kind of like, no, I40:18don't want that. you didn't unlock it40:19the way I wanted to. You didn't make me40:21feel good the way I want to feel good.40:23There's this this kind of energy of like40:27I want you to to lead me the way I want40:31you to lead me.40:33>> I want guidance, but only if it plates40:36to my feelings and my emotions and my40:38perspective. And if not, then you're a40:40piece of garbage human being, right? And40:42it's like there's no winning or lose.40:44There's no winning here. It's all40:46losing. Hey, I'll take time. Yeah,40:48whatever. If I say, "Hey, man, like the40:50fact that you're even able to ask me a40:52question. Oh, you're getting bigheaded.40:54Like, I should be able to ask you."40:55There's no like bending on other40:57people's side, it's like you have to40:59bend, Johnny. You're a minister. You're41:01a leader, so that's what you have to do.41:02And they don't know, right? But that's41:04the difficulty here, right? Because not41:06everyone's like that. There's only, you41:07know,41:08>> it's also no other profession. Like, if41:09you go to a personal trainer and you41:11were being like, "Hey, extend my41:13training session an extra 15 minutes."41:15Like, nobody does that. It's like, "Oh,41:16you got the hour and I'll I understand."41:18And then I move on and I do what you41:20say.41:20>> That's your personal trainer in the41:21parking lot. It's like, "Wait, can you41:22just stretch me out one more time?"41:23>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So, so and and the41:26other thing is that's people that meet41:28you for the first time. I've also seen41:29it where we will be very nice to people41:32in terms of bringing them out, taking41:35them out for food or whatever, and then41:37they see one thing having no context of41:40what's happening in the situation and41:42then judge you for that. Yeah. So, I do41:44I do see I I agree. I think that that's41:46probably one of the most annoying things41:48of like we could give the shirts off our41:50backs and it's just never enough. But at41:52the same time, I'm a little more41:53cold-hearted than you. I I don't care41:55about them.41:56>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.41:56>> It's like if you're not going to41:58appreciate it, like what more could we41:59do? It's free events. It's,42:02>> you know, it's it just we're just doing42:03our best.42:04>> Yeah. Hundo P.42:05>> And I think that you do a lot more than,42:07you know, I've been around artists or42:09whatever it is. It's like you stay after42:11the 1500 event person event and take a42:14photo with every single person. You know42:15what I mean?42:16>> Yeah. We did that in Orlando.42:18>> So much so that one of the people were42:20like you're going to stay here and and42:22were like I literally had to go. We paid42:24for it. [laughter]42:25>> Like we paid for this so we could stay42:27here. You know what I mean? It's like42:28you can't say nothing. Bro was just like42:30are he was like filming me like real?42:32Are you serious? Looking at his time.42:34He's like, "Man, these guys, this guy's42:36been here for an hour and 30 minutes42:38just taking pictures, hugging on people,42:40you know, etc." And he's like, "When are42:41you guys going to go home?" But it's42:43like42:44>> people flew in. Like even in Miami,42:47there were people that came from Quebec,42:48Canada.42:49>> There were people that came from42:50Venezuela. I don't know if you guys saw42:52that.42:53>> What?42:54>> Yeah.42:55>> And so imagine if I'm just like, "Oh, I42:57got to go, guys. Sorry." Cuz bro wants42:59to go home and watch his Netflix. Like43:00what? Like we have to genuinely love on43:03people. That's what we're called to do,43:04guys. So, yeah.43:06>> Yeah,43:06>> we're hiring, guys. Core of the Heart is43:08hiring. But listen carefully.43:10>> We're not just building a company. We're43:11building one of the fastest growing43:13Christian communities in the world. In43:14just a year and a half, this community43:16has grown to over 3 million strong. And43:18we're nowhere near done.43:20>> Our mission is simple, but massive, to43:21build the best tools and resources to43:23help anyone in the world get closer to43:25God.43:25>> Our first immediate goal is to get a 10043:27million people into heaven. So, when we43:29say we're hiring, understand this. We're43:31not looking for employees. We're looking43:33for missiondriven A players that want to43:35change the world.43:35>> Our criteria is simple. Don't show us43:37what you could do. Show us what you've43:39already mastered. Like, if you want to43:40be the short form editor, show me the43:42millions of views you've gotten on short43:43form. If you want to be the podcast43:44producer, show me the shows that you've43:46successfully produced. We've learned the43:48hard way not to hire off potential. We43:50just want to hire off of peer43:51experience. People who have already43:52proven that they can perform at their43:54skill set at the highest level. We have43:56jobs available in many different43:57departments, media and content, live43:59events, and marketing. We also have44:01remote jobs and LA based jobs available.44:04If you're an A player that has mastered44:05their craft and wants to do something44:07that glorifies God, then please head to44:09the link in our description and check44:10out the job board. And lastly, if you're44:12an absolute beast at something and you44:14don't see it on the job board, please44:15reach out. I mean, you know, you might44:17be able to do it for us. It might work44:18out. So, if you're amazing at something,44:19you don't see the perfect job44:20description, just reach out. Tell us44:22what you're good at. Maybe it'll work.44:23>> Genuinely, I can't do this without a44:25team. So, I'm very thankful for anyone44:27who supports the mission. I look forward44:28to hearing from you guys. What was the44:30last thing? What else has impressed you?44:31>> Well, I have a few more things that44:33really shocked me.44:33>> Okay, we'll go fast. We'll go fast.44:34>> I'll go really fast. But one, this44:36podcast super shocked me to be honest.44:39Like, I knew it would be, you know,44:40moderately successful or whatever, but44:42we shot up in views fast. Like, the OG44:46episodes have hundreds of thousands of44:48views. The episode with your brother and44:50your mom have hundreds of thousands of44:52views. Um, over 100,000 subscribers.44:55>> Um,44:56>> true.44:56>> Just like that. Usually we started this44:59in January 15, Februaryish.45:01[clears throat]45:01>> No, it's uh it was March. [snorts]45:03>> The first we were bu I have pictures of45:05us building this.45:06>> The first episode got posted in March,45:08>> which is just crazy. Like that genuinely45:11shocked me, too. I thought it would take45:12a little bit longer.45:13>> Wow.45:13>> Um I don't know about you guys, and I45:15know that you've had a podcast before,45:16but45:17>> I already be knowing.45:18>> You already be know him?45:19>> No, I knew it was going to go.45:20>> Um and then the last thing that really45:21really shocked me, did45:23>> Yeah, you did. But this this hard45:25though,45:25>> not this hard. I think that45:28where definitely I was like we would be45:31somewhere around this. I knew it would45:32do well45:33>> and I just knew it was a different45:34medium. There's a live stream audience45:36and there's people that love podcast.45:38They love to turn on because I'm that45:40person.45:40>> So I was like him in that medium that's45:43like his strong suit. You know what I'm45:44saying? Like outside of live like live45:47streaming it's hard to catch him. I45:48don't have time to sit for two hours.45:50It's not a structured lesson all the45:52time. Whereas if you think about it,45:54everybody, how'd you discover Johnny?45:55George Shenko Del his softwad underbelly45:58interview under the influence. It's45:59always podcast. So I was just like it's46:01like people people like that.46:03>> You're going to go on more podcasts in46:052026.46:06>> Definitely.46:06>> It's time. Johnny Chang going back on46:08another podcast tour.46:10>> If anyone wants Johnny on their podcast,46:14>> not any podcast, [laughter]46:16>> but if you guys want Johnny back on your46:18podcast, please DM him again.46:20>> Yeah. Um, and then the last thing that46:23really shocked me this year was the46:24Clippers. Getting millions and millions,46:25almost 10 million views with the46:27Clippers. It's just insane. I've seen46:28these pages shoot up overnight. Israel46:30got over 40,000 followers in a month. A46:33few people like Natalie Victoria got46:35almost 100,000 followers in a few46:37months. Just insane to see how fast46:39people can start a clipping page from46:41scratch, take your hours of long form46:43content, turn it into a short form46:45video, and just get millions of views46:46over and over and over again. Even46:48rinsing and repeating the same clips.46:51these pages are blowing up and they're46:53too46:55genuine economy chain clips. So, it's46:58just46:59>> if I wanted to start a clipping page,47:00how would I start?47:01>> Join the Discord. Join the Discord.47:03>> Okay, where is the Discord link?47:04>> In the bio description of the47:06>> Wait, don't you have like a a c where47:08you could watch all the past and then47:10join clipping class. Clipping class47:12category um on in the Discord. Check it47:15out every Wednesday. It's taught by47:17Professor Veil.47:18>> 5:00 p.m. PST. But yeah, it's just47:20insane.47:21>> Yeah,47:22>> it's just crazy. Crazy to see.47:23>> Facts.47:24>> Do we want to talk about Orlando, Miami47:25real quick? It just happened. I'm still47:27sleepy.47:28>> Yeah.47:29>> My [laughter]47:31>> dude, I started that trip. I got off the47:33plane and I was sick. I was just47:34battling a sickness the whole time. I47:35threw up my back before. That trip was47:37hard for me.47:38>> Yeah, it was.47:39>> Yeah. But47:39>> good job, though.47:40>> Yeah. Overall, it was like so many47:43issues with not being able to get a47:45church location until the week before in47:47Miami. We couldn't get a church location47:49at all. Um, and no, and and that's47:51because of like, you know, a lot of47:52churches have their Christmas services47:53and things like that. But we've been47:55planning this thing for we were doing47:56outreach three months before.47:58>> Yeah. Months.47:58>> Three months before. And but regardless,48:01Aaron went hard. Aaron probably had to48:02do like 10,000 individual tasks to48:05[clears throat] make this.48:07>> The event was pure chaos. Yeah,48:09>> pure both events pure cha. Again, if you48:12guys went to the Orlando and Miami48:13events and they seemed like it was48:14great, smooth sailing, then just know48:16how insanely impossible it was.48:18>> It was complete chaos.48:20>> Um, but I thought your sermon in48:22Orlando,48:24>> God forbid,48:25>> potentially the best ever that I've ever48:27heard.48:28>> What?48:28>> It was insane.48:30>> You went for pretty much like an hour48:32almost. uh you were definitely speaking48:35directly to some people [laughter]48:37and uh it was just I think it caused you48:40to pull a lot of references and context48:42because there happened to be a lot of ex48:44inmates behind you. I think you weaved a48:46lot of your testimony in and I just48:48think that whoever was actually there in48:49Orlando was fortunate enough to hear48:51what was in my opinion like one of your48:54best sermons of all time.48:55>> Wow.48:56>> I just thought it was just insane. It48:57was also hilarious. Everyone was dying48:59laughing. But I just I don't know what49:00you think about it but I just think it49:02was like next level.49:04>> I think I was flow state.49:06>> Literally49:06>> just straight up flowing. And I don't49:08even know what I was saying to be49:09honest. But I was thankful because all49:12the inmates behind me, I was like really49:15trying to gain their hearts more than49:16anything. And then I realized that when49:18they came up to me to take a picture,49:20like 90% of them knew me through poor49:22already.49:22>> Wow.49:22>> So I was like, dude, this is crazy.49:24Again, shout out God behind bars for the49:26opportunity to be able to preach the49:28gospel49:29>> in the prisons to the disenfranchised,49:31etc. So, it's pretty cool. It's pretty49:33cool.49:34>> Yeah. The thing that's really amazing or49:35for Florida people, we will come back49:37next year and we're going to do it49:38proper. We have a lot more church49:40contacts that want to work with us.49:42>> We have government contacts, too, who do49:45the permits, the people who work for the49:47the building and ordinances.49:49>> Yeah. So, we're we're going to run it49:50back. But one thing I really loved was,49:53you know, Eric, the guy who helped us49:54pull this church together, the idea of49:56the donation thing.49:57>> That's right. The food drive was super49:59super amazing. Hundreds and hundreds of50:02pounds of donated stuff.50:05>> Yeah. [clears throat] That's going to50:06help people. Again, as we say, when you50:08guys donate those things, you're, you50:09know, it helps the less fortunate, helps50:11those in need. And so, thank you guys50:13for also helping us advance the kingdom.50:15James 2 talks about this a lot. But,50:17yeah, giving people certain things,50:19opening their hearts, and then being50:21able to plant the seed inside of them is50:23more important than anything. Always50:24remain humble. That's the one thing that50:26I remember is all these things like it's50:29easy to get high-hearted when you help50:31people, when you help inmates, when you50:32help people who are, you know, less50:34fortunate. But the one part is like50:36we've all been helped by God. We are all50:39people who are in need of help. And so50:41that's what keeps us grounded and be50:43able to to move with humility, but also50:46move with boldness, right? film. Yeah,50:49>> it's just crazy like the the circulation50:52of like the giving economy around core50:56of the heart and this just adds one more50:58layer. So, it's like every time we go do50:59a free live event that's costing us like51:0210 grand honestly more free live events51:05are are very much not free51:08>> but it's being paid for by the generous51:10members of Core of the Heart. So, it's51:12interesting to think of if you're a51:14member of Core of the Heart, you help51:16fund these free live events for people51:18around the country who may or may not be51:20able to afford it. And now we're saying,51:22okay, if if we're bringing a thousand51:23people together and everyone just brings51:24one thing of food, one thing of pasta,51:27one pair of socks that we could help51:29homeless for weeks and weeks and weeks,51:30it's like51:32>> low-key by being a core of the heart51:33member and helping throw the events and51:36helping bring people together to donate51:38to a food drive. just like the giving51:40economy is just so crazy and then we go51:42and pass those things out and it's just51:44insane. So, it's just kind of like uh51:46it's crazy to see how it all goes51:47around. It's pretty interesting.51:49>> You guys can feel good about that too51:50genuinely because if we didn't have you51:52guys and we wouldn't be able to do these51:53things and then the souls wouldn't be51:55saved, right? So, it's important pastor51:57says like our fruits are all shared,52:00right? So, no one can do it alone and52:02and God is teaching us through giving.52:06Giving is better than receiving in that52:08who can give? Only those who've52:10received. Now, we've received eternal52:12life from God, gift from God. We're then52:14able to kind of reciprocate that back to52:16people. And for me, I that's why I'm52:18able to do all of those hours and do52:20free events and be able to go and hand52:22out these things to people who are less52:24fortunate is because I was given that in52:27so many ways, right? I was spiritually52:29homeless. And so, in that case, God was52:31able to through Pastor Kim pour into me.52:34So you guys helping us really it's you52:38guys donating and and just even having52:42subscriptions and just supporting us in52:43any way is huge in helping us reach52:47other people. Like we could not reach52:49them by ourselves. I would still be a52:51prison minister without you guys, you52:52know, clipping up things, donating,52:55etc., etc., right? All of us here would52:57not be able to even eat if that was the52:59case. So we appreciate every one of you53:01guys for helping us and you guys have we53:03share the fruits where I because you53:06guys do that then it allows me a53:07platform to then preach. So you guys53:09have have like stake in that as well and53:12and a spiritual stake and God sees that.53:14Seriously, God sees that and he blesses53:16people. It says I will bless those who53:18bless you curse those who curse you. You53:20guys bless us so much through all the53:21donations. We see you guys honestly and53:23we appreciate that bottom of our hearts.53:25>> Yeah, it's crazy. And that's why people53:27always ask like how can I help? How can53:29I support? Genuinely, just bring a box53:31of pasta to a free live event. Yeah,53:33it's the biggest support. Get a core of53:34the heart membership so we can throw53:35more free live events. It just those53:38tiny tiny things genuinely go so far. We53:41couldn't do it if thousands of people53:42weren't being members and bringing food53:44to the events and things like this. So,53:46just pretty easy to be a part of it if53:48you really genuinely feel called upon to53:50be a part of it.53:50>> Yep.53:51>> Amen.53:51>> Dollar goes a long way. Yeah.53:53>> Um, okay. Now that the new year is53:56coming up, it's the it's the typical new54:00year, new me, and I have a laundry list54:02of things I want to change about myself,54:04and I make my New Year's resolutions.54:07Is it wrong or what is the best way to54:10set goals according to the Bible?54:12>> So, you can have goals and still trust54:14God. The issue is when you plan for your54:18future and you need your future to go54:23your way, right? So, the way I explain54:26it is if you plan and set goals for your54:28future, make sure to set your goals like54:31you would if you're writing things down54:32in pencil. Don't write it in pen. And54:35what that means is when things are in54:37pencil, it allows God to be able to54:40edit. Right? So, the analogy here is54:43>> wait, God can't edit pen.54:45>> [laughter]54:47>> But basically, you it's not for God.54:50It's for you, right? You're sitting54:51there and you're like, "Man, I can't54:54like I'm so set in stone in this, right?54:56I I I I need this this goal to be54:59achieved." And that becomes your55:01identity. That becomes what defines you.55:03That's not biblical. It's Father God,55:06I'm gonna work hard and set these goals,55:08but the outcome I leave to you55:10>> and I'm gonna allow you to be able to55:12edit wherever you see fit because you55:15know what's best. So goals are biblical55:18and you are actually supposed to set55:20them. If you look at Proverbs 16:3,55:23commit thy works unto the Lord and thy55:26thoughts shall be established. So commit55:28your work to the Lord. Okay, God, I'm55:31going to work, but this is for you. And55:33then your thoughts will be established.55:35Right? Luke 14:28 says the same thing.55:37For which of you intending to build a55:40tower siteth not down first and countth55:42the costs? So, it is biblical to set a55:45goal. It is not biblical to then allow55:48your future uh to go your way. The goal55:51to go your way. That's when it becomes a55:53problem, right? So, yeah.55:56>> So, what is a goal like that's for God,55:59right? Like for me it's like I want to56:01lose 10 lbs. I want to go to the gym56:03every day. And it's like56:05>> you could obviously there's the position56:07of I want to be healthy so I could56:09preach the god like do my job well or56:11whatever it is. But there's also the56:12just let's be honest. It's like I just56:14want my sixpack back, [laughter]56:18you know? And so it's like you you56:20everyone can sit there and be like ah56:23this is for God, you know, I'm trying to56:24make this for God, but then it creeps in56:26the self creeps in.56:28>> Yeah. good or bad56:29>> again. So, how to tell if a goal is56:32biblical, right? In that way, uh is when56:35it fails, what what is affected?56:38>> Is your peace affected or just your56:41scheduling and trajectory is affected?56:44>> So, if you tie your identity, like let's56:46say for the six-pack example, if you're56:49like, "No, I didn't get a six-pack,"56:52then it's a problem because now it's56:54affecting your piece, your identity56:55behind it. But if it's like, "Oh, okay.56:58I wanted to get a six-pack. I worked56:59hard. I just couldn't put down the57:01donuts. Right. Then it's okay. Like,57:04God, I still wanted to do that for you.57:06I just didn't hit that goal. Or go57:09ahead.57:09>> Okay. Or it's like, yo, you couldn't put57:11down the donuts.57:12>> Yeah. What's wrong with putting down the57:14donuts?57:15>> No, but I'm just saying like like let's57:16say it was me. I couldn't have put down57:18the donuts. You're like, come on,57:19Jeremy. in reality like you just weren't57:21disciplined enough or you didn't like57:24what if God's like you just didn't I you57:28didn't try to put down the donuts. You57:29know what I'm saying?57:30>> Mhm. Well, I don't think he would say57:31that. I think he would still show you57:33that though, right? It's not like oh God57:36like please establish my plans. It's57:39more of like God interrupt my plans if57:42you need to. So when you sit there and57:44you're trying to, you know, get a57:46career, you have to set, you have to57:49level set many times and have this kind57:51of like standard of course, but you57:53leave that to God. Okay, God, I'm going57:55to do this, but feel free to interrupt57:58it, edit it, redirect me, wherever it58:00is. So it could be the six-pack, and it58:02could be that God didn't allow you to58:04put down the donut because it's like,58:06well, maybe you'll fall into lust. I58:08don't know. I know a lot of people who58:09went through body transformation and it58:11actually ruined their lives. But I also58:13know people who went through body58:14transformations and it established them58:16and it made them happier.58:17>> So it's it's again dependent on is this58:20going to be your idol. Your goal should58:22never be your idol. It should point you58:24towards God basically, right? The true58:27person you're supposed to be idolizing58:28which is God.58:30>> Yeah.58:30>> What about a lot of people that say58:32like, "Oh, if I made a bunch of money, I58:34would donate more." Things like that.58:35And I know you said, "Well, you would58:36just donate now, too."58:38>> There is a level because I've been broke58:40broke where it's like when I did get to58:43a certain level of financial security,58:45my life I there was a lot of stress that58:47was gone. Yeah.58:48>> Right. So, what do you say to the person58:50that's like,58:51>> you know,58:52>> I want to do it to then donate more58:53money.58:54>> Donate more money. But it's also like58:56>> the kingdom.58:57>> But it's also like I know I need to get58:59I want financial security because I'm59:01stressed out.59:02>> Having financial security is okay.59:04planning to do those things is okay. If59:06you have a genuine heart to be able to59:08go, I want this amount of money so I can59:10donate. And that's a real genuine heart.59:13>> Yeah.59:13>> Then God, why wouldn't God bless that,59:15right? Like I we're super blessed now59:17because even in my heart, I want to59:18build churches. I want to build churches59:20for our people. I think God is super59:22accelerating that because of that. Yes,59:24we could have our systems and processes,59:26but if we don't have grace and we don't59:28have the right heart posture, we'll just59:29have all this money and squander it59:31anyways. So God's not going to give you59:33something that curses you. He's always59:35going to bless you. So if you sit there59:37and you genuinely have the heart that's59:39between you guys and God, I can't sit59:41here through a podcast and be able to59:42tell, you know, the viewers and what59:44they what your heart is, but if you have59:47the heart of, you know what, I genuinely59:49want to make money, not only to take59:50care of my bills, cuz that's something59:52that God wants to do anyways, but how am59:54I going to utilize this to then give it59:56back to God? And if you have that heart59:58and it's genuine, why wouldn't God bless1:00:00that? I've seen this time and time1:00:02again. We have pastors all around our1:00:04missions who have zero dollars, don't1:00:06speak a lick of English, and they get1:00:08buildings for free. Like under their1:00:11name. Vegas church was like this. Didn't1:00:13even have any money. Got a whole1:00:15building, million, $2 million building1:00:18with a, you know, an acre lot, whatever.1:00:20Crazy. And we're just like, how did you1:00:22do that? Boy can't even say justified.1:00:24He's like justified. But boy got a got1:00:27more. He got1:00:28>> Who was we that said that? You were the1:00:30only one clowning him.1:00:31>> No, no, no, no,1:00:32>> no, no. All the other pastors said that.1:00:34There's no way. You were the only one.1:00:36>> No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Just he1:00:37pied. His sanctify pied,1:00:39>> right? Pied. No, I'm just kidding.1:00:40>> Sounds like you were the only one1:00:42clowning him and then threw the rest of1:00:43the church in with it.1:00:44>> Turn the cameras off. We're going to run1:00:46the fade. [laughter] No, but genuinely1:00:48though, if you guys have the heart1:00:51aligned with God, why wouldn't God allow1:00:54your Cuz then they don't become your1:00:55goals anymore. Your goal is now rooted1:00:58in Christ, not self. And God never1:01:02edifies self. He's always edifying1:01:04Christ. We ride off that coattail1:01:06because obviously like the donkey who1:01:08carries Jesus, he gets praised too,1:01:11right? It's it's that's a byproduct of1:01:13it. But people again are putting things1:01:15above God. Your goals should never be1:01:18put above God. Your goal should always1:01:21be to invite God into the planning1:01:23process, into the outcome, into1:01:26everything essentially. And this is1:01:28what's going to make it biblical and1:01:30scriptural.1:01:32>> Do you have anything?1:01:34>> So plan. So what I would say is plan1:01:36boldly, but surrender daily.1:01:39>> That's what it is.1:01:40>> That's boldly, but surrender daily.1:01:44Clippy.1:01:45>> It's great. Okay. Um, this is off topic,1:01:48but can you tell me a little bit more1:01:50about uh the donkey who carries Jesus1:01:53still gets praised?1:01:54>> Yeah. So,1:01:54>> Loki reminds me of Jeremy. [laughter]1:01:57>> So, the donkey,1:01:58>> that's the story.1:02:00>> So, Jesus rides on a donkey and then1:02:02they claim hosana. Hosana, right? The1:02:05enlightened one, the anointed one.1:02:07They're like basically praising him. And1:02:09the donkey gets praised with him because1:02:11a donkey is symbolic of someone who's1:02:13stubborn. Just a a a [laughter] look at1:02:17eye.1:02:19The look the bombastic side eye is crazy1:02:23>> because he said the donkey reminded me1:02:25of him. I thought it was a good thing.1:02:26But then now you're saying the1:02:28>> the donkey was stubborn.1:02:29>> The donkey is always hard-headed, right?1:02:32And it loves to work. So when Jesus1:02:34rides on him, this stubborn workspace1:02:38person, if you add Jesus to it, gets,1:02:41you know, edified, right? Now imagine1:02:45>> crazy.1:02:45>> And now imagine if the donkey kicks1:02:48Jesus off and it's like, I'm getting1:02:50praised, guys. You would sit and people1:02:52would probably slaughter that donkey.1:02:53>> Like if they were like, I'm the star of1:02:55the show. I'm the star. Right.1:02:56>> Right. Yeah.1:02:58>> It's not clicking in my head of how I'm1:03:01the donkey. [laughter]1:03:03is you're stubborn.1:03:04>> Am I stubborn?1:03:05>> And you love to work and you crack the1:03:06whip on everybody and you just go your1:03:08way.1:03:09>> No, I'm the don I've never seen a donkey1:03:11holding a whip. I don't know what1:03:13donkeys you guys are thinking about.1:03:14>> I'm not stubborn. I'm not stubborn.1:03:16>> Yeah. I'm more like if I had to if I had1:03:18to compare myself to an animal.1:03:20>> I'm like a an eagle. Majestic eagle.1:03:24>> Like a stallion. [laughter]1:03:25>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A wild stallion than a1:03:27donkey.1:03:28>> Yeah.1:03:30>> Okay.1:03:30>> Wow. I just heard it kind of reminded me1:03:32of some like someone or something I1:03:33know, but1:03:34>> it's it was just so off. So, I'm like1:03:36not really connecting the two dots, but1:03:39okay. What would you say is the best way1:03:41to make sure someone sets themsel up so1:03:43that their goals stick?1:03:46>> So, when you look at Galatians chapter1:03:485, it calls self-control and discipline1:03:52uh the fruit of the spirit. Now, why am1:03:54I talking about that is because if you1:03:55guys want to set yourself up for your1:03:57goals to stick, you're going to need1:03:59self-control. Anyone who's sitting there1:04:02and following a you know a goal has to1:04:05be disciplined and working towards that1:04:07goal. So they have to have a lot of1:04:08self-control. They have to do things1:04:10they don't want to do. Right? So1:04:11Galatians 5 calls self-control and1:04:13discipline a fruit. Now fruits can only1:04:16grow when when they're connected to the1:04:18root. Right? And so that's why God is1:04:21saying we have to be connected to God.1:04:24If you try to connect to yourself, if1:04:26you try to muster up, you know, this1:04:28white knuckled willpower, let's say,1:04:31then you're going to burn out, that's1:04:33what happens is most people, it's not1:04:35that they're not disciplined, they're1:04:36exhausted in their discipline, right?1:04:38And discipline is not just surely off of1:04:40willpower. It has to go your your goals1:04:44essentially if if you're built off of if1:04:47they're built off of emotion, then1:04:49they're going to be unstable because1:04:51emotions are unstable. Most people are1:04:53not emotionally stable to be honest.1:04:55They're going to feel frustrated.1:04:56They're going to feel angry and that's1:04:58when they become exhausted and then they1:05:00turn away from their goal setting. But1:05:02if the fruit right is connected, let's1:05:05say, to the root, which is Jesus Christ1:05:07and grace, then all it has to do is sit1:05:11there and be connected and the fruit1:05:13will naturally grow. The fruit doesn't1:05:15try hard to grow. It doesn't try hard1:05:17to, you know, discipline itself. It just1:05:19stays connected to God. And in the same1:05:21way, when I was connected to Pastor Kim,1:05:24he was like the root that was pouring1:05:25into me. Obviously through God and1:05:27Jesus, but he was pouring into me. And I1:05:29didn't even know that I was growing. I1:05:32was just connected, right? A mango1:05:34doesn't go, "Oh my gosh, guys, I'm1:05:35growing." Like, it just one day is like,1:05:37"Oh my gosh, I'm a ripe, good tasting1:05:39mango and I'm producing fruit now." And1:05:41now I have the seed to then able to1:05:43plant into the ground and then that1:05:45could also produce fruits, right? So1:05:47fruit of the spirit one of the fruit of1:05:49the spirit is self-control which is1:05:52pivotal for discipline but people try to1:05:55have discipline without being connected1:05:58to God and yes those things are1:06:00temporary right but again you need grace1:06:03for everything yes1:06:05>> what do you what would you say to the1:06:06person that doesn't have a pastor Kim to1:06:09instill self-control myself uh an1:06:12example for me is like I'm a doom1:06:13scroller1:06:14>> I'll just find any moment that I'm bored1:06:16it's just like a habit at the time. And1:06:18I've tried everything. I have the app1:06:20blocker. Sometimes I'll put this thing1:06:22in a cookie jar with a timer that locks1:06:24it up. Yeah.1:06:25>> You know, so I'll try to do all those1:06:26things and you know, it works for1:06:28certain days, but then other days I1:06:29don't have those blockers around me.1:06:32What would you say to the person that1:06:34doesn't have a support system? Number1:06:36one, that's why we have our Discord1:06:37community because we can sit there. We1:06:39have mods who've read the Bible, who1:06:41are, you know, uh, connected to us. So,1:06:43you need to have some kind of1:06:44connection. Number two, ask yourself one1:06:48simple question.1:06:50What am I doing this for? And who am I1:06:52doing this for? What and who am I doing1:06:54this for? So with Jeremy's situation,1:06:57right, doom scrolling, what are you1:06:59doing this for? It's only for yourself.1:07:01And you know, if you do things for1:07:02yourself, at least in this predicament,1:07:05it's going to be detrimental and1:07:06counterproductive. So if you are to do1:07:09something, if you pick up food and you1:07:10eat, you have to think, what am I doing1:07:12this for? So, even when I eat, right, I1:07:15I've I've noticed that when I sit there1:07:18and I'm like moving on the beaches, when1:07:20I'm like genuinely, cuz I I used to eat1:07:23horribly. I didn't care. Like, I could1:07:25eat Chick-fil-A. I could eat junk food.1:07:27I love junk food. I I literally spent 131:07:30years of my life, no, 24 years of my1:07:33life, I would say, eating just junk1:07:35food, right? Chef Boy RD, ramen,1:07:38noodles, spread. And Jeremy's laughing,1:07:42but it's true. I had I was Red 401:07:44spokesman straight up.1:07:46>> Go look at uh sort his YouTube1:07:48thumbnails by latest.1:07:50>> And you're going to see1:07:51>> I'm going to delete those actually.1:07:52>> No, you're going to just see you're1:07:53going to see a circle. Johnny's face was1:07:55just no no jawline.1:07:57>> Yeah, legit. Legit.1:07:58>> It's just a circle.1:07:59>> A fatty. I was a fatty. But [laughter]1:08:02>> I learned, man, if I'm doing this right,1:08:06then can I maintain an image that people1:08:09would want to? Like could I influence1:08:12people if I'm sitting here and being1:08:14like yeah I'm overweight but I have1:08:16self-discipline like yeah bro can't even1:08:18control the fork to your mouth right1:08:20like if I'm telling other people to have1:08:22self-control and I don't even have1:08:23self-control then that makes me1:08:25hypocritical so I was able to think what1:08:27am I doing this for right I can sure sit1:08:30at home and and chill and relax and eat1:08:32whatever I want and not and save money1:08:34doing that actually right but at the end1:08:36of the day I'm like no I have to up my1:08:39health I have to be able to preach these1:08:41things. I have to not sit there and get1:08:42food coma after eating all this soy and1:08:45gluten and all this stuff that just1:08:46wrecks my body completely and then1:08:49wrecks my mind completely. So, I was1:08:51able to think that simple thing helped1:08:53me. What am I doing this for? And who am1:08:56I doing this for? If I'm sitting here1:08:58and I'm working out, yes, working out is1:09:00fine. We should protect the tempo and1:09:02build the tempo. But am I just doing1:09:04this for more likes on Instagram? Am I1:09:06doing this for more validation? then I1:09:09probably shouldn't be doing that. Am I1:09:10doing this to have more energy though to1:09:12genuinely preach the gospel? Amen. And1:09:14when you guys walk that way, God will1:09:16show you your intent of the heart1:09:18because sometimes our intentions change.1:09:20We will be like, "Yeah, I want to do1:09:21that." And then you get distracted or1:09:23derailed because you start to get more1:09:25attention. Then God, you have to1:09:27believe, will keep you accountable and1:09:30pull you back to where you need to be1:09:31through conviction of the Holy Spirit,1:09:33through other people telling you stuff,1:09:34through even in your doom scroll,1:09:37catching a real that's like, "Oh my1:09:38gosh, this is directly talking to me."1:09:41So yeah.1:09:42>> What would you say though? Okay. So one1:09:44thing you said about the working out1:09:45thing, like for me, I like Muay Thai and1:09:47to me it's when you're saying that, why1:09:49am I doing this and who am I doing it1:09:51for?1:09:52>> Yeah.1:09:52>> It's kind of more for self. You know1:09:54what I'm saying? It's like a fun thing1:09:55that I enjoy. It's like a never- ending1:09:57puzzle.1:09:58>> I don't think so. I think you think like1:10:01that, but you don't know how to think1:10:02deeply.1:10:03>> Well, so that's the thing. It's like1:10:04>> dissing them. You're dumb.1:10:06>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But that's what1:10:07I'm saying. It's like I it could be1:10:09repositioned.1:10:10>> Mhm.1:10:10>> Like how do you know you're not1:10:12repositioning it so that you can1:10:13continue to do something that's not1:10:15really for self? That's really for self1:10:17and not for God.1:10:18>> Yeah. I mean, but you're saying like1:10:20loopholes and stuff like loopholes,1:10:21right? So, I mean, only you would know1:10:23that. And even if you did a loophole,1:10:25right, let's say that's true. If God1:10:27doesn't like it, he has to remove it and1:10:29he will,1:10:30>> right? So he's not he might not do it1:10:31right away. He might do it right away.1:10:33But I think like for your mental health1:10:35personally, for me being around you, for1:10:38you to be happy, I've seen when you're1:10:40injured and you're not doing Muay Thai1:10:41versus when you are doing Muay Thai,1:10:43you're way more. You think he's the1:10:45Grinch, Boyd turns into the abominal1:10:47snowman. Like he is so bad when he1:10:50doesn't do his Muay Thai. He's just1:10:52like, I got to go. Oh, and I'll hear him1:10:53driving. And on the drive, he feels1:10:55better,1:10:57literally. So, training is good and we1:11:00we allow that. We do that with everyone1:11:01here. You guys could do whatever you1:11:03want as long as you get your job done1:11:04and you get your work done. That's the1:11:06one thing though that we've always had1:11:08as a policy. Do what you got to do for1:11:10your mental health to be happy because1:11:11I'm not going to have you guys coming in1:11:13here kicking things. I don't want to do1:11:15this, man. I can't even do Muay Thai.1:11:17You know, Jeremy Muay Thai secular.1:11:18Kicking people in the face is not1:11:20biblical. Stop be its knee to the face.1:11:23Ites itites is not biblical. Show me1:11:25where it says itites itites in the1:11:27Bible. Like if I do that, he's literally1:11:29going to be like, "Bro, bro's legalistic1:11:31as hell, man. I can't sit here and sweat1:11:34and relieve, you know, relieve my stress1:11:36and stuff like that. Like why not?" So1:11:39again, I would disagree with you on1:11:41that. I think genuinely you working out,1:11:44you're so happy us being together with1:11:46George and all that, bro. It leveled us1:11:49leveled me up crazy. leveled you up1:11:50crazy 100%. So I'm like, okay, why is1:11:53what's the issue there, right? And and1:11:55you enjoying it does not mean it's a bad1:11:58thing, right? Doesn't mean just cuz you1:11:59enjoy something that it's a sin1:12:01automatically, right? Obviously, if it's1:12:03like bumpies or drugs or, you know,1:12:05stuff like that, then yeah, I would be1:12:06like, "Yo, Jerem, we got to have the1:12:08conversation." But1:12:09>> it's Oh, yeah. Just like kneing people1:12:11and doing liver shots and just, you1:12:14know, elbowing people. I think that's1:12:15not too bad.1:12:16>> [laughter]1:12:17>> I thought you were going to say I notice1:12:18when you don't do it cuz you're fat.1:12:20>> No, not necessarily.1:12:21>> Oh, I got straight up fat. I got 14 lbs.1:12:25>> Are you not like What does Nathan think1:12:27now? Are you [laughter]1:12:28>> Oh,1:12:29>> are you back?1:12:30>> I don't think he's Yeah, he hasn't1:12:31really commented, but I'm I'm like 160.1:12:33I got three more pounds to lose. Four1:12:35more pounds to lose.1:12:36>> Wow.1:12:36>> Yeah. So,1:12:37>> so then how do you stay disciplined?1:12:39>> Yeah. Yeah. So, okay, you've now made1:12:42the little checklist of who it's for,1:12:44why am I doing it, and you got your list1:12:47set out, and you um trying to eliminate1:12:50distractions, right? Throwing out the1:12:51food you shouldn't eat, whatever it is,1:12:54>> but now it's month two, right? You1:12:56signed up for the gym membership, you1:12:57went for month one, and then February,1:12:58it's empty. The gym is empty. So, yeah.1:13:00So, how do you stay disciplined?1:13:01>> So, when you look at discipline and1:13:04self-control, they're kind of1:13:06synonymous, and you have to look at1:13:07scripture for that. uh when you look at1:13:10the word the original lexicon in Coney1:13:12Greek for discipline uh it's found in uh1:13:17John as as well as you know uh Luke1:13:21basically it says the word for1:13:23self-control or discipline is egratia1:13:28egratia right it's e g k k r a t e i a1:13:32what that actually means is inner1:13:35strength powered by the spirit1:13:38So inner strength comes from and is1:13:42powered by the spirit. So a phone has a1:13:45battery on its own but sooner or later1:13:47it has to be plugged in and the power1:13:49has to come from the electrical outlet.1:13:51Right? In the same way a lot of people1:13:53think discipline is self and like sheer1:13:56willpower. It is not. It it's it's not1:13:59self it's spirit rightes as we say. And1:14:02so it's not, you know, obeying1:14:06obedience off of just your own emotions1:14:10and your own willpower because those1:14:11things change. Sometimes people as1:14:13humans lose obedience, lose willpower,1:14:16lose, you know, have unstable emotions.1:14:20But if you're learning, if you're trying1:14:23to become more disciplined, the way that1:14:25the Bible explains it is you have to1:14:28lean on or you have to learn and lean1:14:31learn to lean on God. If you want to1:14:35genuinely surrender to God, you have to1:14:37obviously lean on him. That's part of1:14:39surrender. But you have to also confess1:14:42your weaknesses every single day to God.1:14:45You have to be like, "Oh, the reason for1:14:48me to stay disciplined is I'm empty. I'm1:14:51like this phone. I have 2%. I need to1:14:54hurry up and plug in, surrender to the1:14:57willpower of God." And how to do that is1:15:00every day recognizing your weakness. Oh,1:15:02I'm weak. That's why I need to get1:15:04plugged in. Do you guys understand what1:15:06I'm saying? That's why I need to be able1:15:07to go to God. Oh, I can't. I'm not I'm1:15:10weak. That's why I'm strong. And when I1:15:13realize that I'm weak, then I become1:15:14strong. People are like straight up like1:15:17driving a car. The engine is like1:15:19running and it's that that temperature1:15:21gauge is going to hot and the car is1:15:24still trying to drive. During that time,1:15:25you have to stop and go, "Okay, if I1:15:27keep driving this, I'm going to get a1:15:29head gasket issue. The freaking engine1:15:30is going to blow up on me. I'm gonna go1:15:32I'm going to be out $8,000." No, I got1:15:34to stop and I got to like let everything1:15:36cool down and I got to plug back in to1:15:39God essentially. And this is what it1:15:42what it means, right? And so lack of1:15:44discipline is not usually tied to1:15:46laziness. A lot of people don't know1:15:47that. Lack of discipline is usually tied1:15:50to connection.1:15:51>> And I'll explain why.1:15:53>> Who you're connected to is who you're1:15:55going to draw power from. If you're weak1:15:58and you connect to self, you're going to1:16:00be weak essentially, right? It's like a1:16:02Wi-Fi signal. It's weak connection. It1:16:05doesn't matter like how good your phone1:16:07is. It matters how strong the Wi-Fi1:16:09signal is. God is the Wi-Fi signal,1:16:12right? He's strong, but if you're not1:16:14connected to him, then you're just going1:16:15to run off of your own kind of like1:16:18connection, right? And so, um, when1:16:22people are1:16:24so, so this idea is kind of hard to1:16:26understand, so I'll try to explain it.1:16:28But when a person when I say it's not1:16:31lack of self-discipline or lack of you1:16:33know yeah lack of discipline is tied to1:16:37lack of connection. What I mean by that1:16:39is if you're sitting here and let's say1:16:42for example you have no self-control of1:16:44your anger. Right now I'll give an1:16:46example. Uh there's a lot of people who1:16:48come to me and I mentor and they go I1:16:50have anger issues. And I'm like no you1:16:52don't. And they're like what? You don't1:16:54even know me. What do you mean? I have1:16:56crazy anger issues. Right? And then I1:16:59go, you think you can't control your1:17:01anger, but it's because you're connected1:17:03to yourself. You believe that you can1:17:05actually control your anger. So, you're1:17:07kind of trying to maintain your anger by1:17:09yourself. And they go, "Okay." Now,1:17:11let's say, right, for example, I'm sure1:17:14couples and spouses that that are1:17:15listening, when they're arguing crazy1:17:19and then their mom calls or like the1:17:21cops come, like they're not going to be1:17:24like, "Yeah, whatever. ah like1:17:26screaming, they're going to pick up and1:17:27be like, "Yeah, whatever you whatever.1:17:29>> Hey, mom, how you doing?" Like they're1:17:31able to like completely calm down after1:17:32that, right? If a cop like tries to1:17:35light you up, you're not going to be1:17:36like, "Yeah, you you effing what? Oh,1:17:39hello officer." Like, you'll literally1:17:41be able to calm down. So, again, because1:17:44you're now connecting to, oh snap, if I1:17:47keep doing this, this will turn into1:17:48like a domestic violence case. This will1:17:50turn into like maybe me getting fined1:17:52and like, you know, disrupting the1:17:54public, etc., etc. Like, so you could1:17:56technically control it, but are you is1:17:58your heart willing to like be connected1:18:00to that or not? Right? Are you willing1:18:02to connect to God or not? Essentially,1:18:04so we say that we're lazy, right? I1:18:06always thought, for example, I was1:18:08really bad at, you know, um, money1:18:11management and schooling and doing math.1:18:14I hated math. But then when those1:18:17freaking 40 $50,000 came in and I was1:18:19like, hm, I'm short. And I start using1:18:23math like wait but but last week like I1:18:25used to think I had a bad memory and1:18:27then I'm connected to the money now. So1:18:29I'm like wait a minute but two weeks ago1:18:31you said you were going to have 10K1:18:32[clears throat] for me. Why are you1:18:33bringing only 8K? I don't understand.1:18:35And it becomes this1:18:36>> bro turned into Albert Alfred Einstein1:18:38>> literally it was Alfred Einstein.1:18:40>> Yeah. [laughter]1:18:40>> Right. And Alfred Albert Einstein1:18:43>> Gas Ma1:18:44>> right1:18:46literally turned into Bill Fence bro1:18:48like huh? Wait, Jeff Pesos. But anyways,1:18:53[laughter]1:18:54>> I was literally Jeff Pesos.1:18:56>> Jeff pesos.1:18:56>> But I'm over here like, right. So, it's1:18:58it's again, it's a lack of connection,1:19:01not lack of, you know, discipline. Who1:19:04are you connected to? My discipline1:19:06comes from how many of you guys need1:19:09salvation? Wow, I need to do this and1:19:11have salvation with God, right? I need1:19:13to preach the gospel. How many souls can1:19:15I bring? Then I'm able to muster through1:19:18things. It's like a bad dog over here.1:19:20>> Oh, he just rips things in1:19:22>> shredded. Camera zoom in. Cut in. He1:19:24just shred like you.1:19:25>> He just sits here and like twiddles with1:19:27things and he completely shredded up1:19:29whatever this was. It's like1:19:30>> this particular thing was very messy.1:19:32I'm sorry. I'll clean this up.1:19:33>> It's like a bad bad dog. It's like we1:19:35need to take him outside and time to1:19:38>> so discipline1:19:38>> him with the hose.1:19:39>> So discipline always starts with1:19:41dependence, right? Dependence on God. If1:19:44you depend on yourself, yes, things will1:19:46work until you run out. Until you burn1:19:48out. Yes.1:19:49>> So tactical, straightforward advice. You1:19:53say when you get up, for my example, you1:19:55say, "Hey God, I have this issue with my1:19:58phone where I just pick it up and I'll1:19:59randomly scroll. I know it's not helping1:20:01me, but I can't seem to stop." So you if1:20:04you don't want me to continue to do1:20:05this, you stop it.1:20:07>> Yes. Because Yes. Because we have to1:20:08receive grace. John 5:30 is really1:20:12clear. It says I can do I can of my own1:20:15self do nothing right I can't do1:20:18anything now it doesn't mean to pick up1:20:19and go oh I can't do anything oh I can't1:20:21do anything and keep scrolling but you1:20:23have to realize oh because I can't do1:20:25anything I need to stop depending on1:20:27myself I need to actually start1:20:29depending on God when you realize like1:20:31oh like for example when I got shot1:20:34right I never trusted doctors being1:20:36Asian we just don't trust western1:20:38medicine my dad my mom were always1:20:41complaining about like they just want to1:20:43like bill you for every little thing.1:20:44The IV is $7,000. Like they just like1:20:47this, right? So when I'm sitting there1:20:49and I'm like, "Yeah, doctors are1:20:50quacks." You know, they're horrible.1:20:52Like what makes them better? I used to1:20:53have this mindset when I was a kid. But1:20:55when I got shot, right? I was literally1:20:58like a good puppy just listening to the1:21:00doctor like, "You got to stay here for a1:21:02month. You're going to get rehab." I'm1:21:03like, "Okay, and it's going to be a lot1:21:05of money." I'm like, "Okay, just don't1:21:06let me die." Right? Like literally I was1:21:08like, "Okay." Right? And it's because1:21:12you have to recognize that I couldn't1:21:15depend on Johnny anymore. Oh, I have to1:21:17depend on God. And if you really reach1:21:19that level, you will become disciplined.1:21:22You will become like, oh, I'm not going1:21:24to listen to myself anymore. Right? So,1:21:27we just have to recognize that. And God1:21:29also allows us to struggle. Like with1:21:31the doom scroll, he allows those things.1:21:34He allows us to not go off of willpower1:21:36because if you could, then you would get1:21:38high-hearted. I know so many people who1:21:42sit there and overcame so many things in1:21:44their lives and they don't attribute1:21:45that to God. I know so many people who1:21:48are disciplined and judge other people1:21:50because they received grace to become1:21:51disciplined whether they had a good1:21:53family, whether they had people who1:21:54taught them to then go, "What the heck?"1:21:56Like you're just homeless by choice.1:21:58Like they don't understand. There's a1:22:00disconnect and they become very very1:22:02high-hearted. So God won't sometimes let1:22:04you have discipline because you'll1:22:05become high-hearted because the heart1:22:07easily gets high. So that's why God1:22:10wants us to realize, hey, you need grace1:22:12in everything, right? The discipline1:22:15grows when foundationally it's rooted in1:22:18grace. That's how it is, right? And so1:22:21you have to realize those things. Oh, I1:22:22I need grace to grow, right? I need1:22:25grace to even be disciplined cuz yeah, I1:22:27don't think anyone's naturally just1:22:29disciplined. I think the systems that1:22:31they were brought up on, the parents1:22:33that raised them, all of that has1:22:36effects. I wasn't disciplined. Even when1:22:38I went to prison, I only had to be1:22:40disciplined because I was forced. I was1:22:42literally fighting for my life. So, I1:22:44had to go through the politics and1:22:45stuff. Did I like it? No, I didn't. And1:22:47then that in itself actually cultivated1:22:49a lot of discipline. And then when I got1:22:50out, I had Pastor Kim straight up1:22:52disciplining me, telling me to scrub1:22:54toilets. Why? Like, I don't want to1:22:56scrub toilets. But through that, I was1:22:58able to learn you got to do the small1:23:00things so that when God blesses you with1:23:02the big things, you don't fumble those1:23:03things. M1:23:06that was very helpful.1:23:07>> Yeah.1:23:07>> So, moving on, you've given us a lot of1:23:10good insight on self-control and1:23:11discipline and how those go hand in1:23:13hand, how to set goals that are aligned1:23:15with God or the Bible and and how to not1:23:17to hold on to them so that they become1:23:20something that you're dependent on for1:23:21your happiness.1:23:23>> What would you say from everything that1:23:25you've gone through to to where you've1:23:27gotten today in your career, in your1:23:29life? Um, for Johnny Chang today, what1:23:33is one thing that you want to change1:23:35about yourself?1:23:36>> Perfectionist mindset.1:23:39I think it leads me to be1:23:41>> But you're righteous and perfected1:23:42forever. [laughter]1:23:45>> You're switching up.1:23:47>> No, but I mean like like selfishly1:23:51perfectionist like perfectionist. Isn't1:23:54that1:23:54>> I know I know what you mean. I was just1:23:55being a annoying1:23:57>> the asking what I have to deal with.1:23:59Yeah, I was being1:24:00>> every single day.1:24:02>> Every day, guys. No. Um, perfectionist1:24:05mindset just kind of like it affects me1:24:07like emotionally sometimes when I don't1:24:10have things done a certain way1:24:13and it gets it makes me super sensitive1:24:15and I I be making grumpy pants because1:24:19nine times out of 10 I'm actually most1:24:22mad at myself. So, the perfectionist1:24:24mindset leads to like being angry at1:24:26yourself. But there's also the1:24:28double-edged sword. To be honest, I1:24:30think because of that, I'm able to also1:24:31just be like le I have to learn to lean1:24:34on God.1:24:36>> Beforehand, I would not before I was1:24:38saved, I would not let anyone do1:24:41anything for me. I would literally have1:24:43to run everything.1:24:46Like everything. I'd have you guys would1:24:49have to It would be a tugofwar just to1:24:51like get me to see certain things. And I1:24:54I do exactly what Jeremy does. When1:24:56Jeremy gets annoyed, guys, this is what1:24:58he does. He goes.1:25:01[laughter]1:25:03>> Okay.1:25:05All right. Let's do it.1:25:06>> That's not bad. I still do it. I do that1:25:08to you.1:25:09>> I'm not saying it's bad.1:25:10>> I'm saying that's what I would that's1:25:12what I do now is I'm like inside's like1:25:16outside's like, "Okay,1:25:19okay." All right. So perfectionist1:25:21mindset always makes me super pissed on1:25:25at myself and then through that leads to1:25:29like this mindset of I don't want to be1:25:31wrong. So it's not about skirting1:25:33accountability but it's like now I have1:25:35to push it on to someone so that I'm not1:25:37angry at myself. It's it's a weird1:25:39thing. You guys know what I'm talking1:25:41about cuz some of you guys do this too1:25:42where they sit there and I'll be like1:25:44chastising in Discord and they know that1:25:47they're wrong but they're like you were1:25:49wrong Johnny. like so I don't have to1:25:51feel bad. And so I understand that. I1:25:53understand that. Right. And and I think1:25:55perfectionist mindset does that a lot.1:25:57>> So1:25:58>> where you're so hard on yourself to1:25:59where you're like, okay, now I don't1:26:01want to be hard on myself. So I have to1:26:03find a way that it's not my fault.1:26:06>> But [snorts] you're saying though that1:26:07it's a double-edged sword because it1:26:09also causes you to lean on God. So where1:26:10would you want to be? Like if you're1:26:12like, if God could cure it in some way,1:26:14>> what would you prefer?1:26:16>> I I I I know he can't. And I don't mean1:26:18he can't cure it. I know he won't1:26:20because because I'm like that. That's1:26:22what draws me to God.1:26:24>> So, it's more of like I'm not going to1:26:25heal you from something that yes may be1:26:27painful but brings you to me1:26:29>> than something that makes you1:26:30comfortable and draws you away from me.1:26:32Right. So, yeah.1:26:33>> But don't you think you've leveled up?1:26:35Like1:26:35>> I think so. I think so. But even then,1:26:37right, I still can see parts of it creep1:26:40in where I'm like, dang. I guess that is1:26:44part of the perfectionist mindset of1:26:45like not having anything, right? like1:26:48not having struggling with anything at1:26:51all.1:26:51>> That's funny that the perfectionist1:26:53mindset is also affecting the progress1:26:55that you've made to not even see the1:26:57progress.1:26:58>> Yes. That's why I said everything needs1:27:00grace.1:27:01>> Right. And we need grace. Me too. Like1:27:03we're I'm my biggest critic. Hands down.1:27:06So many times me and Jeremy will have1:27:08this juxtaposition, bro. I'll be like,1:27:10"I'm sorry." He's like, "Stop saying1:27:12sorry." And I'm just like, "All right."1:27:13But at the same time, I'll explain. We1:27:15explained it yesterday a little bit the1:27:16situation. And I was able to he was able1:27:18to understand it like oh dang like dang1:27:20you are kind of extra hard on yourself1:27:23and then that therefore that can affect1:27:25me cuz then when you're extra hard then1:27:27I don't know if I can even mess up in1:27:29front of you because if I mess up then1:27:32you're going to think like you know it's1:27:34like I'm taking it personal essentially1:27:36right so it was good to have that1:27:38conversation genuinely and to to that's1:27:40why fellowship is so important having1:27:41dialogue is so important because I1:27:43[snorts] can misunderstand Jeremy I can1:27:45misunderstand Aaron and vice versa.1:27:47And so we're able to see like, okay,1:27:50this is the this is what my1:27:52perfectionist mindset does. It creates1:27:54problems when there isn't any problems.1:27:56But at the same time, because of that, I1:27:59have to surrender to God.1:28:01>> Jeez, [snorts]1:28:01>> crazy, right? Like it's that's the level1:28:03up. Before I would hate myself. I'll be1:28:06like, why am I like this? Now it's like,1:28:09oh, I'm like this. I accept it and1:28:11that's what's bringing me to God1:28:13>> versus just dying in that position of1:28:14like I suck and I just can't do this and1:28:17I hate everything. It goes from yes, I1:28:19suck and I could hate everything, but1:28:21this is what's bringing this is what's1:28:23bringing me to to God to my everything1:28:26which is God. So, it's actually really1:28:27good.1:28:29>> Yeah.1:28:29>> What is one thing you want to change1:28:30about yourself in 2026?1:28:33>> Ooh, you go first. [laughter]1:28:38>> That was funny.1:28:40I don't know.1:28:40>> Yeah. Uh I would say for me is is to1:28:44truly surrender to God.1:28:46>> So there's a lot of things that I feel1:28:49like that through sheer hard work we're1:28:53getting done, but I also can see maybe1:28:56that's going to creep and lead to1:28:58burnout or frustration.1:29:00>> So I want to avoid that.1:29:02>> But then a lot of times I get overly1:29:03cautious, right? I'm like, "Oh,1:29:05>> uh did I surren did I surrender that to1:29:07God properly?" Or it's also just like,1:29:09well, no, that's a no-brainer that we1:29:10just have to do the work. You know what1:29:12I'm saying? Like like what is there to1:29:13surrender? It's like it got done or it1:29:15didn't.1:29:15>> Yes.1:29:15>> And so1:29:17that balance is um I don't really know1:29:21if I'm surrendering to God properly, I1:29:24guess. So it's something that I have to1:29:26go to you more about. Talk to Pastor Kim1:29:28about.1:29:28>> Yeah.1:29:29>> But1:29:29>> you are surrendering properly.1:29:31>> Yeah.1:29:32>> Think so. Yeah. Because sometimes I'm1:29:33like1:29:34>> I can work harder. I could do more and I1:29:38don't and I'm not like I'm burnt out or1:29:40anything like that. I'm just like this1:29:41just needs to get done. It's like Yeah.1:29:44So it gets confusing to me.1:29:46>> Yeah. But that is part of the surrender1:29:48is to sit there and think that man I1:29:51need to surrender more. Some people1:29:54don't even have that sense of like1:29:56wanting to surrender.1:29:58>> Right? So that obviously is a level up1:30:00and then to realize, oh there are1:30:02certain things that I genuinely want to1:30:05surrender, but that's what the surrender1:30:08is. Is to go, okay Lord,1:30:10>> I know that I want to surrender this,1:30:12but like you have to take care of my1:30:15surrender.1:30:16>> Does that make sense? So sometimes I1:30:18think that, but then the decision has to1:30:20be get made and I'm kind of just like,1:30:21well, I know what the decision is and1:30:22I'm going to go towards this decision.1:30:25>> Yeah. So that's the other thing where I1:30:26kind of struggle with where I'm like,1:30:28oh, I want to surrender this to God, but1:30:30at the end of the day, I do I just do1:30:32think this is the right decision and I'm1:30:33just going to go1:30:34>> yeah,1:30:34>> this path and then God, you correct it1:30:36if it's not. [clears throat]1:30:37>> But that's surrender.1:30:39>> Is it though? Because1:30:40>> yes, because the fact that you're that1:30:42last part,1:30:43>> but then you correct it if you don't1:30:45think so.1:30:45>> But I do that like a lot. I catch myself1:30:47doing that that a lot where I'm like,1:30:49man, am I wrong with that?1:30:50>> Am I just leaning on myself again,1:30:51though?1:30:52>> No, that's not that's not it. Because1:30:54the fact the how you used to lean on1:30:56yourself was there was no God in that1:30:58equation. That's what surrender is. Is1:31:00adding God into it, right? Cuz you make1:31:03the decision to do what you want to do,1:31:05but it's not really what you want to do.1:31:06You do it because you you have obviously1:31:09the the knowledge and the wisdom and1:31:11just the experience and perspective, but1:31:13then you also know that if you need to1:31:15correct it, God, you will correct it and1:31:17I'll leave it up to you. That is the1:31:19surrender is what I'm saying. Whereas1:31:21like that was never what you used to do.1:31:23You used to be like, "No, I need to just1:31:25do that and have no god inside of it."1:31:27So you're taking on everything and then1:31:29God would actually have to make you1:31:31surrender. Like do do you understand1:31:33what I'm saying?1:31:34>> Yeah.1:31:34>> Yeah. It's so hard to explain, guys, but1:31:36it's1:31:36>> so I'm thinking about all the things in1:31:38the alcohol business where it was just1:31:40like like literally I was forced to1:31:43surrender,1:31:43>> the cancellation and1:31:46>> um just like you know running out of1:31:47money and all those kind of things.1:31:49>> Yeah. where I there was nothing else,1:31:51the burnout, there was nothing else I1:31:53could do.1:31:53>> And you wouldn't have that heart back1:31:55then is what I'm saying. You would just1:31:56keep being like, "Okay, I got I got I1:31:58got like God's trying to make you1:32:00surrender." And then you would find1:32:02another way to be like, "All right,1:32:03let's just roll with the punches. Let's1:32:05do this." Until the point where you1:32:06literally burned out. That's what1:32:08surrender does to you. And then you're1:32:09like, I can't help but give this up.1:32:11Now, the reason why you're not burning1:32:13out is because of this is to go, I'm1:32:14going to do what I have to do like I1:32:16used to do, but I'm leaving the outcome1:32:18up to God. That is what surrender is.1:32:21>> It's not not moving. Surrender is not1:32:23just like, "Okay, God, I I need to make1:32:26a decision and I'm not going to make any1:32:27decision." That's not surrendering.1:32:28>> I guess I felt like I was like checking1:32:30a box and then moving on. It's like,1:32:32"Oh, I checked the God box and I'm still1:32:34going to do what I think is best."1:32:35>> Those are your thoughts.1:32:36>> Yeah. Okay.1:32:37>> Yeah. Those are1:32:39>> You're doing it actually perfectly. See1:32:41guys, that's why I said the mind is1:32:42crazy. No one told him that that was1:32:45wrong. He just believed that that was1:32:47cuz he don't talk to me. [laughter]1:32:50>> Well, I can't really talk to you at all1:32:52when you give me a hundred tasks a day1:32:53and then you're grading [laughter] it.1:32:56I would love to talk.1:32:59Maybe give me less tasks to do and don't1:33:00get upset [laughter] when they don't get1:33:02done and I would we could talk all the1:33:04I'm just kidding.1:33:06>> That's your task.1:33:07>> Did you figure out what you would like1:33:08to change in 2026?1:33:10>> Uh1:33:11>> yeah. He's like1:33:12>> like be less perfect.1:33:13>> Yeah. I want to relax more.1:33:15>> Yeah.1:33:16>> Fish more.1:33:18>> Uh just chill and just work less1:33:20overall.1:33:21>> Legit. We could do all of that if we all1:33:24just locked in.1:33:26>> Legit [laughter] though.1:33:27>> Not the work less overall part.1:33:28>> Yeah. Yeah.1:33:29>> Maybe. No, I think1:33:30>> I think work less overall too. It will1:33:32get to a point where all of us can1:33:34genuinely just take like retreat retreat1:33:36trips and stuff like that where we're1:33:38just every because it's a well old1:33:41machine, right? Genuinely. That honestly1:33:43goes to my goal and if I if I can pull1:33:45off my goal then um maybe I will have1:33:47more time to go fishing and stuff like1:33:48that. Yeah.1:33:49>> But I'd say my genuine goal that I need1:33:51to get better at this year is just to1:33:52make better use of my time.1:33:54>> So it's like I can get a lot done and1:33:57even if it's even if I'm working the1:33:58whole time, I can be wasting time while1:34:00working. If it's me being a ultra1:34:02perfectionist over a caption or1:34:04literally spending 45 minutes to pick a1:34:06song for a video, which I literally do1:34:08that when it doesn't when it doesn't1:34:10matter. It doesn't matter. And it's just1:34:12like um if I can just figure out how to1:34:13make a better use of my time, I could1:34:15get not only more done on the work side,1:34:17but I can get more done on the personal1:34:18side, too. It's like the amount of time1:34:20I spend doom scrolling or even something1:34:22like playing Pokémon Go. Just like I1:34:24just want to be able to make better use1:34:25of all of my time. You guys are also I'm1:34:27like the only one of us three who's not1:34:29disciplined when it comes to the gym.1:34:31Like um1:34:32>> everything you were saying about was1:34:34really opening my eyes because I have1:34:36the gym now. All my excuses are gone.1:34:38It's open. It's across the street from1:34:40my house. And I still be finding ways to1:34:42only go once a week, if that. And it's1:34:44just like it's because I'm not making1:34:46good use of my time. I'll tell myself,1:34:48"Oh, I have so much to do. Oh, I have so1:34:49much to do." Even so much as coming to1:34:50the podcast today. We do podcast around1:34:534 p.m. If I have to get in the car1:34:54around 3:00, shower around 2:30. I'm1:34:56just like, it'll be noon. We're getting1:34:58off calls and I'm like, I don't have1:34:59time to go to the to the gym x yz. But I1:35:02do. I really, if I was able to make1:35:03better use of my time, all of my time, I1:35:06actually do have time to do more things1:35:07in my day.1:35:08Um, so that's just that's a big goal for1:35:102026 for me.1:35:11>> Wow.1:35:12>> Amen.1:35:13>> Any advice? You're really good at doing1:35:15those things, utilizing your time really1:35:16well. I do. I am, too.1:35:18>> So, so it's like one is you got to write1:35:21down the tasks that you have to do the1:35:23next day, the night before, and put it1:35:24from the most difficult to the least.1:35:26And then for personal time like that,1:35:28you just got to block it. And no matter1:35:29what, you just got to go do it. So, for1:35:31example, I have to go to a Muay Thai1:35:33class. They don't do class whenever. So,1:35:35I have to go. And so that forces me even1:35:38if people are like, "Oh, let's do a1:35:40meeting at this time." I say no because1:35:42it's the only time I get to go to the1:35:43class and I could do the meeting after1:35:45whatever, but then I'm forced to go. So1:35:46if you make that time, then you won't.1:35:48Like if you're like, "I'm going to go to1:35:50the gym at 11:00 a.m. The meetings are1:35:52done and I go." Even though people want1:35:54me to follow up, I will do it after the1:35:55gym. And you block that time.1:35:58>> You just have to go. And then if people1:36:00are upset by it or whatever, you're1:36:01like, "I'll get it done in 1 hour,1:36:03right?" So if you block that time,1:36:05you're like, "This is my gym time, and1:36:07nobody's going to like get in the way of1:36:08that because if it was a class, you1:36:10would have to go." Or if it was a1:36:11trainer that you paid, you would have to1:36:13do it at that time, you know? So if you1:36:15just treat the gym that way, then it1:36:17>> it creates a space.1:36:18>> That's good advice.1:36:20>> Yeah. And you're actually good at that,1:36:22too, cuz he had that thing where when we1:36:24were on the on the ride and I was like,1:36:26"Dude, I don't want to go." and he's1:36:28like in 200 minutes or in 200 seconds1:36:31you'll be exactly where you are going1:36:33wow this is good same thing in one hour1:36:36you'll get a response any of an email1:36:39from me it's true1:36:40>> dude it's true also like when I when1:36:42George he has limited time so I block1:36:44that time it's not like any of you guys1:36:45notice1:36:46>> right1:36:46>> I'm just like I always know where1:36:48there's gaps of time and I just fit1:36:49George in like I saw George before I1:36:51came to the podcast1:36:52>> right1:36:53>> it's 50 minutes yeah but I mean it's1:36:55nice cuz it's right around my house but1:36:56like obviously you have to calculate1:36:57shower and drive time, but it's close to1:36:58>> No, but yeah, I live across the street1:37:00and honestly lately I've been really1:37:02trying to re like whenever I think of1:37:04this and on the spot I can actually do1:37:06it. It's just hard to remember this. I1:37:07almost want to get it like tattooed on1:37:08my forearm or something.1:37:09>> The first tattoo is the requirement.1:37:11[laughter]1:37:11>> But it was that it was that Tik Tok that1:37:13we both saw where it's like I think that1:37:15laziness is just the tendency to think1:37:18of the effort rather than the outcome.1:37:20>> Yes. Yes.1:37:20>> So if you're not lazy, you're just1:37:22focusing on all the effort it would take1:37:24versus just focusing on the outcome from1:37:25it all. And when I when I'll be sitting1:37:27there and not want to go to the gym,1:37:28I'll just try to focus on the outcome1:37:30and not the effort and then I'll1:37:31actually just like walk out my door and1:37:32go. But it's hard to always like1:37:33remember that1:37:34>> 100%. But I think the biggest thing is1:37:36like we definitely all have enough time1:37:38where you can just be like, I'm going to1:37:39go at this time and nobody schedule1:37:41anything during this time,1:37:42>> right?1:37:42>> Yeah.1:37:43>> I just convince myself I'm too busy to1:37:45go. It's an excuse or it is whatever it1:37:47is. I'm just going to get better at. But1:37:48you know what's kind of nice too is1:37:50sometimes when you schedule that time1:37:51it's like I know I have to cram1:37:53everything else cuz when I have the Muay1:37:55Thai class I'm like okay that day I'm1:37:56going to go for an hour and a half I1:37:58have to get all this stuff done1:38:00>> or else I can't go.1:38:01>> That's always true like whenever you1:38:03have more to do you end up getting more1:38:04done.1:38:05>> Yeah. But but also too what you'll1:38:07notice too is like that hour is not that1:38:10it's not detrimental. You're like okay I1:38:11waste a lot of more time on other stuff.1:38:14You know, if I looked at my screen time,1:38:15it's like1:38:16>> the collective time that I doom scrolled1:38:18was more than enough time to go to the1:38:20gym and doom scroll.1:38:21>> I'll spend 15 minutes debating what to1:38:23do next in my head. And I'm like, if I1:38:25would have just started anything, I'd be1:38:26halfway done by now.1:38:27>> True. One thing that might be also1:38:29helpful for you is like I know you're1:38:31maybe thinking about like uh moving like1:38:33living on your own or whatever is1:38:35finding somebody to live with that is1:38:37locked in because when you see someone1:38:39busy doing their own things you just1:38:41can't help to be like1:38:43>> I'm a bum like I got to do something.1:38:45>> True.1:38:46>> Um what are some big tactical goals that1:38:49you want to accomplish next year?1:38:51>> I got a bunch but let's see if we all1:38:53wrote down the same things.1:38:54>> I want to go international.1:38:57>> Ding ding ding. That's on my list. I1:38:59said take Cth Global.1:39:01>> I want us to have at least be on route1:39:04to being the the best1:39:07um I guess having the best spiritual app1:39:12in the world.1:39:13>> I kind of wrote something similar. I1:39:14said, "Launch the app and get it to1:39:16number one in the religion category on1:39:18the app store."1:39:22>> And my ne last one is just do more after1:39:25services.1:39:27just do more after services and maybe1:39:29like utilize our CH media team more.1:39:33Like I only want to do more after1:39:35because I feel like people are loving1:39:37it. I mean if you guys look at YouTube1:39:39the responses of just me answering1:39:41questions like just putting more of that1:39:43stuff out there. No, actually more1:39:45important than that that made me think1:39:47is to get a team that's like locked in1:39:50with us too.1:39:51>> Like every single videographer comes to1:39:54us forever.1:39:55>> Yes.1:39:55>> We know. Yeah. Yes.1:39:57>> Yeah, that's true.1:39:58>> More permanent employees.1:40:00>> Yep.1:40:00>> Yeah.1:40:01>> And I mean, we might as well plug it. If1:40:02you are a crazy good documentarian1:40:05vlogger, like you just know retention1:40:07and you just keep the camera on and you1:40:09find those raw moments, we are looking1:40:11for that.1:40:12>> And same with throwing more after1:40:14services. If you're a diehard event1:40:16planner, event coordinator, if you've1:40:17done big events, coordinated big events1:40:19for, doesn't even have to be for1:40:21churches, just anyone who has1:40:22coordinated events and can handle a1:40:24bunch of moving pieces. You don't even1:40:26have to do the promotion, just setting1:40:27up and coordinating events. Please reach1:40:29out.1:40:29>> Yes. Attention for a monster who can1:40:31organize one to two events every single1:40:34month literally.1:40:35>> And then um also that you love people1:40:37and you like reaching out to churches1:40:39and talking to people. You got to love1:40:40people at the end of the day because1:40:42you're going to deal with a lot of1:40:43different personalities.1:40:45>> Um yeah, that's the jobs are in the1:40:47description or on our website just at1:40:48the top. Barcorehetheart.com.1:40:50Um, for me, I also wanted to added add1:40:53to that is finish the Bible in one year.1:40:56To this day, I'm not proud to admit I'm1:40:5934 years old. I grew up in the church.1:41:01My dad was a pastor. I've not read the1:41:03Bible front to back once.1:41:04>> And you've known Johnny almost two1:41:06years.1:41:07>> You're fired.1:41:07>> What have you been doing, man?1:41:08>> You're fired.1:41:09>> What?1:41:10>> What have you been doing? What's his1:41:12excuse?1:41:13>> It doesn't matter.1:41:14>> Oh, what? He gets a pass cuz he's white.1:41:16That's what happens. You just commit.1:41:17>> This is discrimination.1:41:18>> He's a walking Bible. He's Jewish.1:41:20>> This is Yeah. Okay. Name name your name1:41:24Johnny's favorite verse.1:41:25>> Hebrews 10:14.1:41:26>> What? [laughter]1:41:27What is the verse?1:41:30>> The verse.1:41:30>> What is the verse? [clears throat] What1:41:31is the verse?1:41:32>> Wait. Uh, give me the first word and1:41:34I'll fire it off.1:41:35>> No. No. You gave him three. What the?1:41:37You said first word. I'll give it to him1:41:39cuz I know it.1:41:42>> We are perfected and righteous forever1:41:44in the eyes of God. [laughter]1:41:48>> Wait, wait. Can I try? Yeah. Yeah.1:41:50>> For by one offering he has he s he has1:41:53perfected them that are sanctified.1:41:55>> No.1:41:56>> For by one offering for by one offering1:41:59he has perfected1:42:02>> them.1:42:04>> He has perfected1:42:06>> and made you righteous forever.1:42:07>> Okay. Now everyone say it with me. It is1:42:11finished.1:42:12>> It says for by one offering he has1:42:14perfected forever them that are1:42:17sanctified. I missed one word and you1:42:18were saying that I Yeah, that is what I1:42:20said. I was close.1:42:21>> That is what I said1:42:22>> in God's eyes.1:42:23>> Yeah. [laughter]1:42:24>> Yeah. Forever. I forgot forever1:42:28>> for my one offering he has prepared.1:42:30>> Everybody chastise him in the comments1:42:31>> for I'm waiting until Johnny's annotated1:42:34Bible comes out. That's when I'll uh1:42:36>> Oh, that's when you're going to read it1:42:38[laughter]1:42:39for by Hey, that's the guy I'm gonna1:42:40donate when I'm a millionaire. Same1:42:43energy.1:42:45>> Erin, what are your goals? You know what1:42:46would be really cool? Releasing a book1:42:48of daily devotionals like after a year1:42:51when there's 365 and you can just buy a1:42:54year every single day a book.1:42:55>> Making it a nice book in Johnny's real1:42:57handwriting. They're like,1:42:59>> "Did he write this in Chinese?"1:43:01[laughter]1:43:03>> Looking at it like this.1:43:09Johnny holds his pencil with all five1:43:11fingers. Think [laughter] about that.1:43:13It's like a It's a1:43:17>> [laughter]1:43:17>> to a fist. Your signature is pretty1:43:20cool. But then you write he's like,1:43:22"I'mma1:43:24roast you right now." [laughter]1:43:26They come up and they ask for a1:43:27signature and it's it's like it's nice.1:43:29And then they go, "Hey, can you write me1:43:31like a Bible verse?" And I see the Bible1:43:33verse. I'm like, [laughter]1:43:35>> "Yo, honestly, he's clowning1:43:36[clears throat] me so hard because he1:43:38goes he goes, it's not like you gave1:43:40that [laughter] verse to everyone.1:43:44was taking a picture and he's like,1:43:45"It's not like you don't give that verse1:43:47to everyone and I literally started1:43:49switching it [laughter] up."1:43:51>> What? Hebrew Sanz is the best verse,1:43:54man.1:43:55>> It is a good verse.1:43:57>> No, I don't always do it though.1:43:59>> No, I know you don't always do it, but1:44:00sometimes1:44:00>> that was funny as1:44:01>> the minute when he goes he goes Hebrews1:44:0310 I go Hebrews I finish it 10:14.1:44:06[laughter] Hebrews 10:14. I know that1:44:08one.1:44:12What do you What about Oh, I also want1:44:14to lose the remaining four or five1:44:16pounds I got to lose in the first three1:44:18months of next year.1:44:19>> How does that help the business?1:44:20>> Cuz I look shredded on camera. People1:44:22are like, "Look at that guy's jaw1:44:24jawline retention."1:44:26>> Whoa.1:44:26>> Duh. They watch the videos and they1:44:29>> get more viral and more people hear the1:44:31gospel. Duh.1:44:33>> Fair enough. You can mo everyone.1:44:35>> Duh.1:44:36Um, a goal for this year1:44:40is that I hope that we can get Johnny1:44:42verified for real. For real.1:44:44>> That's your goal this year. Who cares1:44:46about verification?1:44:47>> Me.1:44:47>> It's all scam.1:44:48>> I hope that Johnny can get verified.1:44:50>> All he needs is three articles written1:44:52by publications which we could pay for1:44:54technically.1:44:54>> So, let's get to paying.1:44:56>> What are some of the most important1:44:57things that's happened to you this year1:44:59that made you reflect on a lot of1:45:00things? I can go first if you guys would1:45:03like. I'd say leaving my old company and1:45:07going 100% into [ __ ]1:45:08>> Dang, that was this year.1:45:10>> Yeah,1:45:10>> that was so like December was when like1:45:13the end of Decemberish, January there1:45:15was kind of spilled over was when I cut1:45:18everything.1:45:19>> And um that was1:45:21>> I think that was like you said a huge1:45:23moment where I was like I have nothing1:45:26like everything has been stripped from1:45:27me. This identity of who I thought I1:45:29was. Um but honestly I was happier in a1:45:33lot of sense. It was like a huge weight,1:45:35but I was also just like more burnt out1:45:36than I'd ever been. And there was just a1:45:39lot of unknowns in my life. But that was1:45:42something that was kind of crazy. Never1:45:44ever did I think never ever did I think1:45:46I would be building a media company for1:45:50an1:45:51>> ex gang member.1:45:53>> Christian.1:45:55Never.1:45:56>> Same.1:45:57>> Yeah.1:45:59Um, for me, I never thought that after1:46:03hitting a millie, which was this year,1:46:06that people would switch up as hard as1:46:08they did. Dang. A lot of people switched1:46:11up on me. It was very sad. So, yeah, I1:46:14think that was something that kind of1:46:17solidified that, you know, the world1:46:19persecutes Jesus for real, for real. And1:46:22that I don't think people hate me. I1:46:24just think that they subconsciously hate1:46:26God. And so if we're the beacon, you1:46:29know, and kind of the vessel that God1:46:31uses, they feel some type of way. I've1:46:33been preaching like this for many years.1:46:35Ain't nobody [clears throat] ever had an1:46:36issue with it.1:46:38>> And nobody ever had an issue with me1:46:40>> being a gang member. Uh nobody ever said1:46:43that I wasn't from the hood. And and1:46:45since it's happened, it's kind of like,1:46:47whoa, interesting. Interesting that1:46:49there's just a lot of things. So much so1:46:51that people are making lies about my1:46:53family, saying that, you know, um that1:46:56I'm not real, I'm not this. And I'm I'm1:46:59very glad because it's true. I'm not any1:47:02of those things. I realize that I am uh1:47:05now fully seen as just that Christian1:47:08boy. And that's beautiful. That's what I1:47:11actually wanted uh from the beginning.1:47:13Yeah. I didn't know it was going to take1:47:14this type of path, but a [clears throat]1:47:16lot of people switched up. But then1:47:18there's also a lot of people who it on1:47:20the other side, I didn't realize also1:47:23how much people actually supported me1:47:24too,1:47:25>> right? As much as there's people who've1:47:27dis disliked me and and have been1:47:29attempts on my life, all kinds of stuff,1:47:31there's also people who who support me1:47:34to the fullest, too, uh, and who are1:47:36really my family members. And so, I'm1:47:38very thankful of that. I think that was1:47:40very pivotal for me to realize that um1:47:43God is going to strip you when he needs1:47:45to strip you and God is going to build1:47:47you up when he needs to build you up and1:47:48he's going to break you down when he1:47:49needs to break you down and so yeah.1:47:51>> Do you ever get nervous? This is my1:47:53[clears throat] own thinking too. When1:47:54things are going so well, you're like,1:47:56"All right, something bad's got to1:47:58happen just to balance it out." You ever1:47:59think like that?1:48:00>> Yeah, there's always thoughts like that.1:48:02But I think even then, like I I've I've1:48:05gotten accustomed to just letting God do1:48:07whatever. So nothing is really bad. Like1:48:11when you start to realize that's what1:48:13surrender is, is to go, okay, God, I1:48:16don't know what what's good or what is1:48:17bad. I don't even know if good in my1:48:20life right now is good or if bad in my1:48:22life is bad. So I'm just going to leave1:48:24it up to you. It's very liberating in1:48:26that way. So yeah, I mean we have to do1:48:29trips to go to Sweden, which is very1:48:31dangerous. We have to, you know, uh1:48:35prepare for the next year. We're going1:48:37to go into we're finishing up Q4.1:48:40There's a lot of things that1:48:42there's a lot of challenges, but these1:48:44challenges again, are they really1:48:45challenges? They may be just blessings.1:48:48And a certain blessing in my eyes could1:48:50actually be something that's that could1:48:52be a curse. So, I've learned at least1:48:54throughout the years of just to be like,1:48:57keep an open mind. You never know what's1:48:59going to happen. And genuinely, you1:49:01know, God has been really good in all of1:49:03those things. uh he's been able to weave1:49:05everything together when you know I see1:49:09how for example how people switched up I1:49:11thought it was such a bad thing in the1:49:12beginning it would actually affect me in1:49:14a way where it's like I get if the1:49:17internet is saying stuff about me that's1:49:18cool but if people who are close to you1:49:21start to say stuff about you it does hit1:49:22a little bit different because you care1:49:23and you value their opinion1:49:25>> definitely1:49:26>> so for me to then be able to see that1:49:28and go wow I musled through that when I1:49:30didn't think I would genuinely I thought1:49:32I would be the type where it was like if1:49:34they say something about me, I feel some1:49:36type of way and I got to I got to do1:49:38something. Then to be able to see that,1:49:39oh, I didn't have to do anything and I'm1:49:41just surpassing all of that. Not1:49:44[clears throat] in a arrogant way, but1:49:45oh, the level up is it's I'm not ti the1:49:49way that Pastor Kim says it is you're1:49:50not tied up in it as much anymore. It's1:49:53such has been such a blessing. Uh where1:49:55that was one of my I guess fears was1:49:57just to be like not validated by the1:49:59people who I love the most. And I now1:50:02I'm able to see that it doesn't matter1:50:04who I love the most. Uh it's the person1:50:07who loves me the most is God. And so1:50:10everybody could throw me away. Everybody1:50:12could make real allegations, false1:50:14allegations, whatever they want about1:50:15me. But that was the unlock this year1:50:18was like we don't we don't even get I1:50:20don't even waver anymore. Like I don't1:50:22even want to respond to people who made1:50:25up their minds about me. I don't want to1:50:27ex respond to anything. Reddits to1:50:30friends, family. Like, if y'all got your1:50:32opinions about me, as long as it makes1:50:35you happy and you get closer to God,1:50:37that's cool, you know? Like, if it if it1:50:39if if I'm the trash can that you got to1:50:41dump on, hey, that's cool, too. Like,1:50:43that was such a important thing that1:50:46happened internally that a lot of people1:50:48didn't see. So, yeah.1:50:50>> Clippy. Yeah.1:50:52>> You know what's crazy? You almost died1:50:55this year. Or was it last year when you1:50:57had that surgery?1:50:59Oh, that was this year,1:51:00>> was it?1:51:01>> Yeah,1:51:02>> that was kind of crazy.1:51:04>> That was last year. Last year.1:51:06>> And what was like the survival rate was1:51:08like 60 or 70% only or something? Like1:51:10the surgery had like a high complication1:51:12chance.1:51:13>> 60%. It was like literally close to a1:51:15coin flip, which is crazy.1:51:18>> Yeah.1:51:20>> Just to look back on. What about you?1:51:22What is uh something important that1:51:24happened to you this year? [laughter]1:51:25>> I said my1:51:26>> Oh, you already said yours. I have1:51:27another I have another one if you want1:51:28me to go.1:51:29>> I became a man.1:51:30>> Yeah. Yeah. I have I have another one if1:51:32you guys want me to go.1:51:33>> Yeah, let's hear.1:51:34>> I think uh uh I think going through a1:51:36breakup as well.1:51:38>> That was interesting because I thought1:51:40because I was older, I knew what I1:51:42wanted and I like was so sure about the1:51:45qualities I needed in another person and1:51:47who I was as a partner. And then that1:51:50all got flipped on its head. Yeah.1:51:52>> And so, um, I guess it also1:51:55[clears throat] gave me perspective of1:51:56like what a God- centered or it gave me1:51:59a clear idea of what a God- centered1:52:01relationship is. And also that like I1:52:03guess I'm like I'm not that guy. You1:52:05know what I'm saying? Like I was very1:52:06weak thinking that like, oh, I'm so1:52:08disciplined in life and I do all these1:52:10things and I'm like I'm not like a1:52:13necessarily like a bad person or a bad1:52:16boyfriend. I don't go to the club. I1:52:18don't cheat. I don't be looking like1:52:19I'll do a lot of the things the baseline1:52:22things that a partner would want but at1:52:25the same time I still wasn't able to1:52:27like be there emotionally for another1:52:29person and [clears throat]1:52:32a lot of times I think now I'm like1:52:33could I be now that's kind of like a a1:52:35frightening thought of like wow like I'm1:52:40very selfish and I'm unable to fully be1:52:44there emotionally for somebody that I1:52:47would say that I loved or cared about.1:52:49And then also I think about like that1:52:50with my family members too. I'm like I'm1:52:52not even really there for my family1:52:54members a lot of times.1:52:55>> So that was kind of like a it's1:52:57something I've been thinking about.1:52:58That's kind of tough.1:52:59>> Yeah.1:53:01>> I think that's beautiful. It's a very1:53:03humbling moment for you to even realize1:53:05that.1:53:05>> Yeah. I lost I also lost a lot of1:53:07friends this year. [clears throat] I1:53:09don't really have friends now. I I have1:53:11friends like if I really wanted to like1:53:13go out and hang out with somebody, but1:53:14it's just kind of like man like1:53:16>> Same. That's how I feel too. I don't1:53:19have any friends.1:53:20>> That's cuz you're mean. But no, I'm just1:53:22[laughter]1:53:23>> But but I was just kind of thinking I'm1:53:25like, huh,1:53:27even through all of that, I do feel a1:53:29lot of peace, but it also I struggle.1:53:32It's like how much time am I like I1:53:35enjoy working. I I Yeah.1:53:37>> I feel like there's a lot of potential.1:53:39>> Yeah. And1:53:41>> you too, you're a workaholic, bro.1:53:43>> But I it's like I was a workaholic in a1:53:46negative sense before this, but now I1:53:48feel like I'm a workaholic, but I still1:53:49am [clears throat] at peace in a lot of1:53:50ways. But I'm also kind of like, man,1:53:52like1:53:54>> is this going to am I going to regret1:53:56this? I don't think about that all the1:53:58time, but I'm like1:53:59>> I don't have uh I'm not good at like1:54:02keeping personal relationships, I guess.1:54:04>> Yeah.1:54:06>> Dang.1:54:08I know some of your friends.1:54:11They're good people. They tell you1:54:13you're fat when you need to hear it.1:54:14>> Yeah, [laughter]1:54:16>> that means you two aren't good friends1:54:18cuz neither of you guys said it.1:54:19>> I didn't notice. I see you every day.1:54:21[laughter]1:54:22>> I said it.1:54:23>> I was like, you're fat, man.1:54:25>> But I don't believe what you say because1:54:27you're just a hater. [laughter]1:54:33>> Um I don't know. I don't know. I don't I1:54:35feel like my year was I had no bad news,1:54:39which is really good. Like no1:54:41significant bad news, which is good1:54:43news. I'm an uncle now. Both of my1:54:45siblings had their babies. So that was1:54:47like an amazing addition to the family.1:54:49I feel like1:54:50>> ear when when we first started the1:54:52podcast, one of my things was that like1:54:53I wanted to see my family more or just1:54:55want to be that it's important to me and1:54:56be more a part of it. But I feel like in1:54:58this back half of the year, I was able1:54:59to see my family a lot. I went and saw1:55:02both babies right when they were born1:55:03and then again at Thanksgiving. I feel1:55:04like I was constantly flying around1:55:06visiting Chicago, going to Arizona for1:55:08my dad's birthday, whatever it really1:55:10is. Um, so that's been really good. Like1:55:12I feel like I have been connected to my1:55:14family this year. And then I guess a1:55:16goal would be to like um do the same1:55:19thing with some of my friends. Like I1:55:20had a friend who recently got out of1:55:23prison and reconnected with me and1:55:24they're just catching up over the years.1:55:26He's like, "How's this? How's that?" And1:55:27I was like, "Really? I don't know."1:55:29because I fell out of contact with a lot1:55:31of people. Um, and then even just1:55:32catching up with him was like I I I1:55:34there's a few people that I really need1:55:36to call and catch up with. Um, so that's1:55:40kind of as we're sitting here being like1:55:41we don't have friends. It's like yeah,1:55:42that's true. Like I really don't have1:55:43friends. I have one friend in LA. His1:55:45name is Tristan. I see him maybe once a1:55:48month if that just to play golf or1:55:49something, get a meal. But it's like1:55:51besides that we're just kind of1:55:52grinding. My friends are like the people1:55:54who I used to associate with in college1:55:55or whatever. And I still love them all1:55:56to death. But it's like, yeah, it's1:55:59just,1:55:59>> no, don't start hanging out with your1:56:00friends. We all need to lock in. One1:56:02more year, no friends. One more year, no1:56:03friends.1:56:03>> I just want to make effort to keep in1:56:05touch with my past friends.1:56:07>> We are your friends. No, I'm just1:56:09kidding.1:56:09>> Yeah. Yeah. Texting is fine.1:56:11>> I'm missing out one thing, though. I1:56:13think um you recently got over I feel1:56:18like your airport anxiety.1:56:20>> Oh, yeah. That's huge. Legit W. True,1:56:24true.1:56:25>> That's a big W. Yeah. I used to dread1:56:27these trips. I used to panic for like1:56:29one or two days before we even left. I1:56:30used to be packing up until the last1:56:32second, meeting you guys late at the1:56:34airport. Like all I mean, I still do1:56:35that, but like all that. And um I would1:56:38just dread the trips. I would have so1:56:40much anxiety. My place would be a mess.1:56:42Everything would be dirty. It would be1:56:44very frantic. I wouldn't even enjoy the1:56:45trips to be honest. I'd be dying to get1:56:47home.1:56:48>> Yeah.1:56:48>> Um but now it's all has pretty much1:56:51evaporated. I love going on the trips.1:56:53I'm sad to go home. I'm like, "No, back1:56:56to normal life." Instead of traveling1:56:58with all my friends and getting dinner1:56:59every night and all this and like1:57:00meeting all the amazing CO family and1:57:03taking amazing clips where I'm like,1:57:04"Oh, this is going to go viral. I have1:57:05so much content to edit."1:57:07>> Um, the trips are genuinely just like1:57:08more fun than regular life now. And I1:57:10used to dread them. I would do anything1:57:12to stay home. I was so happy to not do1:57:14any trips in in those two months because1:57:16I was just like, "Ah, I can finally stay1:57:17home." But now I'm like, "When's the1:57:19next trips, baby? Let's go." Like,1:57:20>> that's actually crazy. And also it's1:57:23crazy to hear that because he hides it1:57:24pretty well because he just is on the1:57:26trips.1:57:27>> Mhm.1:57:27>> Yeah. But yeah, that is a good thing.1:57:30>> Just dreading also maybe snippy1:57:33sometimes.1:57:34>> I don't want to I have one more goal1:57:36actually for 2026. I don't want to say1:57:38this too much because I heard that1:57:39there's like a thing where you say your1:57:41goals and you get the satisfaction right1:57:42away and then you never actually have1:57:43the drive to go accomplish them. So it's1:57:45like1:57:46>> you don't really want to talk about your1:57:47mission.1:57:47>> The microwave version.1:57:48>> The microwave version is and I want you1:57:50guys to hold me to it. You can berade1:57:52me. You can even be mad. You guys can1:57:54>> Wow.1:57:54>> You guys can do whatever. But I'm making1:57:56a serious effort in 2026 to not be late1:58:01everywhere everywhere we go. Feel like1:58:03>> I feel like I miscalculate how long it1:58:05takes me to get downstairs, how long it1:58:07takes me to shower, get ready, whatever.1:58:08I'll be walking out and realize I need1:58:09to feed my cats or there's just like1:58:11always things that get tacked on and1:58:12then I'm always just like 10 or 151:58:14minutes late places.1:58:15>> Yeah. And I want a pet unicorn.1:58:18[laughter]1:58:19>> Yeah. When pigs fly.1:58:20>> Yeah. I'm going to be the early guy in1:58:222026. Okay. I I It's not like I'm like1:58:26sometimes like today for example, I do1:58:28get super busy and I sometimes just like1:58:30do have to be late, but I'm just going1:58:32to make a crazy attempt to be the early1:58:34guy. Just get off even if it's just1:58:36getting off my phone 10 minutes earlier.1:58:37Just getting in the shower 10 minutes1:58:38earlier or whatever it is. Getting in my1:58:40car 10 minutes earlier than I think I1:58:41need to1:58:42>> just to not be late everywhere all the1:58:44time.1:58:44>> Facts. I I I'll give you one tip for1:58:46that one. You shower with your phone and1:58:48I do too. I'll be listening. I'll be1:58:50like, you know, I'll just listen to1:58:51something for 10 minutes. Even that,1:58:52like setting it up to listen to1:58:54something. Now you're trapped into1:58:55listening something. Just do things1:58:57without your phone. You're just forced1:58:58to finish the task.1:59:00>> And I'll be like bored and I'll be like,1:59:01"Oh, where's my phone?" I'll even walk1:59:03around looking for like, "No, no, no,1:59:04no. Just finish the task."1:59:06>> That'll just make you get things done1:59:07faster and then you can like reward1:59:09yourself with the phone.1:59:10>> Facts.1:59:11>> Like that. One time someone gave me a1:59:13piece of advice too that is like right1:59:14when you realize you need to leave,1:59:16start counting and see how long it takes1:59:18you to leave. So, let's say I just got1:59:19out the shower and I need to leave in 31:59:21minutes. Start counting. 1 2 3. And it1:59:24makes you go like way faster cuz you1:59:26realize, oh, that took me 500 seconds to1:59:28get out of here. It's like, let me get1:59:29that down to 300. It's like when you1:59:31start counting, you can't think of1:59:32anything else. You can't pick up your1:59:34phone. You can't reply to text cuz now1:59:35you're counting. You can only just like1:59:37put on your clothes and get out the1:59:39door. Basically,1:59:39>> it's fire.1:59:40>> It's like I don't want to be a toddler.1:59:41It's like, okay, go race. I'm going to1:59:42time you. But sometimes it's like if you1:59:45realize you need to leave the house,1:59:46just start counting and see how long it1:59:48takes you. and you'll get out the house.1:59:50>> You need Yeah, you need a roommate like1:59:51Santa Cruz Medicinals. [laughter]1:59:54>> All right. Well,1:59:56>> that episode that concludes the New1:59:58Year's preparation episode.2:00:01>> Prep.2:00:01>> Yep.
