Transcript of The partners, kids and friends of narcissist tend to feel more comfortable around other people
Mental Healness
0:00So, before I was diagnosed with0:01narcissistic personality disorder, one0:03of the main things that used to annoy me0:05about being in a relationship with my my0:06partner or my wife or whatnot was the0:08fact that they would be different in0:09public than they were at home. Like,0:11they would literally be the life of the0:12party out in public and things like0:14that. Be happy-go-lucky, making jokes,0:16interacting with everybody. But, the0:18second we got home, it was a completely0:19different story. They would they would0:20withdraw within themselves. They0:22wouldn't talk. They wouldn't speak and0:23things like that. And that would annoy0:24the hell out of me. So, I shared that0:26with my therapist. I was like, "Look,0:27I'm I'm just sick and tired of this.0:28Like, I get the the worst version of my0:31wife. Like, everybody else gets the0:33happy-go-lucky person." And my therapist0:34was like, "Why why do you think that0:35is?" Of course, I blamed her at first.0:37But, then my therapist kind of told me0:38and helped me realize the fact that0:40narcissistic people like myself make0:42people around them uncomfortable. Like,0:44we stifle people's voices. And when they0:46do speak, we tend to shut them down or0:48not acknowledge them or not appreciate0:50what they have to say. We don't give0:51enough weight and value to the things0:53that they say and the things that they0:54do. So, a narcissistic person's presence0:56can be stifling to people around them.0:58Hope this helps.
