0:02welcome back this is a two-part video0:04series on the gods of Silent Hill if you0:07haven't seen part one click this link to0:10watch it first I'll wait here for0:12you so in the previous episode we0:15figured out the constellation of the0:17deities of the cult of the order with a0:19female Central goddess on top of the0:21hierarchy who is born from a man and a0:23woman to create a paradise on Earth for0:25All Humans we talked about the red God0:28and how his role is to lead the flower0:31the person that is supposed to bring God0:33into this world and that a lot points0:36the fact that both valtiel and Pyramid0:38Head are directly tied to the red God0:41shil barara and I left you with the0:43unanswered question who is the yellow0:46God his name as we've said before is0:49Lobel V so what does this name mean0:52because as for shukar being able to0:55translate the name would be a huge step0:58forward so if you look around the1:00internet you find a lot of sources that1:02claim LEL is a Mayan word and Loosely1:06translated means bad vessel of Flesh or1:09also bad cycle of flesh but sadly no1:14matter where I looked I could never find1:16the source of this translation if1:18somebody knows the origins of this one1:20please let me know with shil Bara it was1:24literally 5 minutes of research to find1:26out that this widely accepted1:28translation to flower and spear from the1:31nahat language of the Aztec was pretty1:33much spoton and the undeniable intent of1:36the writers but in the case of Lobel I'm1:39afraid it's not that easy first of all1:42something like the Mayan language1:44doesn't exist to state that an1:47expression is Mayan is about as precise1:49as to say that a word is European or1:52that an expression is indog German there1:55are dozens of different languages that1:57derived from the Mayan civilization2:00some of which are almost completely lost2:02and some of which are still being spoken2:04today so after skimming through at least2:07a dozen dictionaries for different Mayan2:09languages like K kakel qu or M and2:15apologies for butchering those names um2:18the closest connection I could find was2:20in the yucatech Mayan language where the2:23word La actually stands for bad2:25malicious or foul the source that2:28provided this translation was the tul2:30Mayan Spanish dictionary I've put a link2:32in the description if you'd like to hunt2:33for your own translation it's basically2:35a2:376,735 page long collection of the2:39combined Mayan Spanish and Spanish Mayan2:42vocabularies now the problem with that2:44is for me that it is translated into2:46Spanish and my Spanish is not quite the2:49best here's proof your Nintendo is an2:52Ulta2:54Kido so I ask someone who is able to2:56speak the mysterious and forgotten2:58language of the Spaniards to help me2:59translate the those translations um so3:02we have already found out that lob in3:04yucatech means bad malicious or foul3:07translating the word cell though is not3:10that straightforward as lob because3:12there is apparently no distinct letter s3:14in the yucatech language so it could3:17either be XEL which is pronounced shell3:19that would mean a piece of something or3:22A Shard it could also be tell which3:25refers to the side of something or and3:28this one is phonetically closest to zel3:30it could be zel with a z and that stands3:33for painting tapestry or basically3:36something like a redecoration something3:37that covers something else and gives it3:39a different outer appearance like a3:41facade or a hull the closest thing to3:45the word vi is the ucch word We spelled3:49with a u but in the MTM that I used it3:52even explicitly mentions the spelling3:54with a V and that stands for well this3:59so the word welta is most likely welta a4:03polysemic word which can mean around4:06twist or go back so a somewhat direct4:09translation would be a the act of4:12picking a cord and twisting it or B4:15another thing that you might use to tie4:17it to have this make sense we have to4:20put it into context so LEL V could4:24Loosely mean something like the bad4:26facade of something that is tied to a4:29cord4:30now we really have to go out on a limb4:32with this one it could mean anything to4:34be honest if we interpret the chord as4:37the cult's prophecy the main story line4:40or even if we take it as a metaphorical4:42umbilical chord this would all point in4:45a certain direction but xalo quartly B4:49so it helps to see where different4:51approaches take us and to back it up4:53with other evidence so no matter if this4:56translation is the right one or if the4:59translation provided by aronis in the5:01Silent Hill forum is correct they both5:04point to the same answer a vessel of5:06flesh is a clear symbol for a woman or5:09more precisely a mother and this fits5:12precisely the role of Alysa Cheryl and5:14Heather remember they are all5:17incarnations of the same soul and in5:19each game they were the chosen mother5:21that was supposed to bring God into this5:23world but at the same time something5:26that's attached to an umbilical cord is5:28also a mother and Heather and Alessa can5:31be described as the facade of the5:33carrier that delivers God to her rebirth5:37a facade because they are different5:39persons that are inhabited by the same5:41soul but each time the ceremony ended in5:44a failure not resulting in the birth of5:46the expected benevolent Goddess that5:48brings Paradise to Earth but in a cruel5:51Abomination based on the Twisted World5:53Views of the people in charge of the5:55whole ceremony Dalia in the first game5:58and Claudia in the third6:00considering that it becomes a bad facade6:04or a bad vessel of Flesh in the creation6:07myth the first offering to God was made6:10by a man represented by the male6:12incarnations of the red God and the6:15second offering to the son was made by a6:17woman and considering that the three6:19main sects of the order could be6:22interpreted to correspond to the three6:24main deities Dalia sect of the Holy6:27woman which represents God Stone sect of6:30valtiel representing Shuki Bara and the6:33sect of the holy mother6:35wsel now this one has never explicitly6:38been mentioned as that but Heather is6:41more than once throughout Silent Hill 36:43being directly referred to as the holy6:45mother not only the mother of God all of6:49that points to Cheryl Heather and Alessa6:52being the incarnations of w zel the6:54yellow God just like Pyramid Head and6:56valtiel are incarnations of Shuki Bara7:00an interesting observation about this is7:02that the series suggests that this whole7:04cycle has not been tried once but7:06according to many sources like the book7:08of lost memories for example many many7:11times already and apparently the7:13ceremony has always failed and when you7:16think about the fact that the name of7:18the yellow God already contains the word7:21bad it indicates that the whole prophecy7:24predicts that God can never be born and7:27Paradise on Earth can never happen7:29happen because how did the creation myth7:32describe the world before God gave7:35mankind the gift of Salvation it was a7:38world where people lived in Eternal7:40torture without the hopes of ever7:42leaving the circle of damnation but this7:44is actually a theme that you find in7:47every single game that time is a flat7:50circle and everything starts over and7:52over and over again Silent Hill 2o7:56suggests more than once that James is7:58trapped and doomed to live in his7:59personal hell until the end of time and8:02when you compare the first Silent Hill8:04with a third installment on a meta level8:07it becomes apparent just how similar8:09those two plot lines actually are think8:12about it both games start with a8:14nightmare in which the protagonist Dies8:16who then wakes up in a diner they both8:19get supported by a cop or in Heather's8:22case an ex cop throughout the game the8:24antagonist is both times a priestess of8:26the order who attempts to birth God and8:29both their names end in the syllable IIA8:32Claudia and Dalia the final save point8:35in both games is alessa's sick room and8:38in both games the Priestess dies and the8:40birth of God is prevented in the end and8:43in both end sequences a new incarnation8:45of the yellow God is born wait what okay8:49you probably remember the baby that was8:51born at the end of Silent Hill 1 because8:53we know that's Heather but where is the8:56newborn child in the third game take a8:59look at at this after Heather has9:01defeated the false incarnation of God9:03and leaves the room the final shot shows9:06her turning around and being intrigued9:08by something what she hears is a crying9:11baby we the players for some reason9:14don't get to hear it but it has been9:16confirmed that before that scene was9:18altered The Cry of a newborn baby was9:20audible at the end of that scene and9:22masah heroo himself has confirmed that9:25the birth of a newborn child at the end9:27of Silent Hill 3 is canon9:30everything happens again and again and9:36again time is a flat circle just like9:39the creation myth suggests an eternal9:42cycle of suffering Without End religious9:45texts in pretty much every religious9:48denomination are often taken literal9:50when the creators intended them to be9:52interpreted on a metaphorical level so9:55what if this creation myth is not9:57actually meant to be understood as9:58something that has taken place but as a10:01prophecy a parable for the curse of10:04humanity implying that the god that10:06creates Paradise on Earth has never been10:09born but that humanity is still stuck in10:11that premortal state of Eternal10:13damnation waiting for salvation to come10:17but by definition it never will it gives10:20the whole meaning behind everything that10:22happens in the first three Silent Hill10:24games and even in every other10:26installment that wasn't even written by10:27team silent a twist that makes it appear10:31even a little more dark Sinister and10:34hopeless it explains why every10:36protagonist experiences their very own10:38form of kafkaesk purgatory trapped in an10:42endless Lube of suffering and I know it10:44hurts to mention it but it's even in10:46alignment with the direction Silent10:48Hills seem to be going for suggesting10:51that every person is stuck in their own10:53version of many different Silent Hills10:56their own Eternal cycle of damnation11:00maybe even that each one of us lives in11:02their own version of Silent Hill and we11:05have never even realized11:10it there are Clues11:12everywhere all around us but the puzzle11:16maker is11:18clever the clues although surrounding us11:22are somehow mistaken for something11:25else and the something else the wrong11:29interpretation of the11:31clues we call our11:34world our world is a magical smok11:39screen how should we interpret the Happy11:42song of the metalark or the robust11:45flavor of a wild11:49strawberry so thanks for watching11:52Monsters of the week until next time11:55remember the truth is out there
