Unlearned Wisdom by Johnny Chang
0:00Alrighty, welcome to another episode on0:02the Unlearned Wisdom podcast with yours0:04truly, where each episode is a gospel-0:07centered lesson that you could apply to0:08your life today. And today we're0:12actually talking about struggle. A lot0:14of us struggle with things um whether0:16it's relationships, whether it's0:18internal thoughts, uh whether it's just0:21struggling with the idea of struggle,0:23right? And and what I mean by that is a0:25lot of people think like, man, I'm angry0:27that I'm angry. I'm mad that I'm mad and0:29I don't want to be that way. So,0:31struggling because you struggle or even0:33struggling because you don't struggle.0:35Some of you guys struggle with the fact0:37that you don't have any real struggles0:38and you're like, why am I getting so0:39blessed, right? So, we're going to0:40actually address all of these things0:42today. It's going to be a good episode,0:44guys. All righty. So, [laughter]0:47um I had a question before all the other0:49questions. In your guys's opinion, what0:51do you think is the most valuable skill0:53to have in like the next 5 years? Like0:56an obvious one could be like, oh, uh,0:58HVAC because AI centers, data center or1:01like electrician, like that's actually1:03super valuable because they're always1:04going to need welders or whatever it is.1:07>> I'm going to be biased.1:08>> Of course,1:09>> project management. [laughter]1:11>> We need some project managers. No, I I1:14think um really though, like yeah,1:16probably anything to do with AI or1:18technology and and specifically the1:20stuff that's like booming, right? Like1:22AI is going to be nuts. So, anybody1:25who's like engineering the back end of1:27that stuff or tweaking it, I think is1:29going to be crazy.1:31>> Hard to say what, dude. You have1:32>> No, you I've got one obviously.1:34>> I feel like you got one ready to fire1:35off. Let's hear it.1:36>> No, you have to say yours, Aaron.1:38>> I don't know. I want to say that it'll1:40be people like entertainers and the1:42people that keep like humanity alive by1:44making like art. And I want to say1:47>> maxing people. Yeah, I want to say the1:49gesture masters will stay employed for1:50the next 5 years, but honestly, I don't1:53think so. Like I think they will. Like I1:55see all these AI influencers now and all1:58these different things. It's like that's2:00one of the easiest things to get rid of.2:03Not that they'll be able to do it2:04successfully, but it's like I don't2:05know. I really don't know what'll2:07survive the uh apocalypse.2:10>> I thought his answer was way better than2:12yours.2:13>> And I'm also and I'm honestly very2:15disappointed in your answer. I didn't2:17even have an answer. I don't know what2:18>> I know, but it's very disappointing that2:19you don't even have a viewpoint on this.2:21>> I don't think electricians will stay2:22there and welders. That's the first2:23thing that robots will do. They already2:25have manless factories, welding and2:26electricity.2:27>> No, you still need to be able to man the2:29robot and tell it what to do and like2:30you like2:32>> they're going to use robots, but it's2:33still going to be very hard of like,2:35hey, I'm Anyway,2:36>> physical labor activities are going to2:37go out the window. It'll be improved2:39that those robots are doing back flips2:40now. What do you mean? and it's going to2:42walk up, find the crack in the wall,2:43weld it, and then back flip away and2:46then hit the gritty and walk away.2:47>> But I'm still disappointed in you2:49because I think that one of the most2:51valuable skills that you can have in the2:53new age is how to make good content. You2:55don't have to physic you're rolling your2:57eyes. But let me2:58>> That's kind of what you said in terms of3:00entertainment, right? It kind of ties3:01into that, doesn't it?3:02>> I think No, he wasn't thinking that3:05trying to [laughter] help him out.3:06>> You're right, dude. Thanks. Yeah, John's3:07right. I'm3:09opening.3:11>> Thank you, dude.3:11>> No, he was rolling his eyes as I was3:13saying it.3:13>> No, I was going No, it was an eye roll.3:15It was a O. But okay, I'm hearing you3:17out.3:17>> Okay, so listen. So, first of all, one3:19of the fastest growing industries or3:21like what they're figuring out is that3:23like AI content still does not grab a3:26human like a video of their face, right?3:30>> Yeah. Yeah. Sure. So, that that that's3:31one angle. Live shopping is huge. Live3:34shopping is exploding.3:36>> What is live shopping? It's literally on3:37Tik Tok selling things like QVC.3:39>> Oh, I always see that3:40>> Amazon is making a huge push towards it.3:42Tik Tok is already making a huge push3:44towards it. YouTube is3:45>> people buy more cuz they see the product3:46being demonstrated and then they want it3:48right then and there. But now that even3:50the live shopping is being run by AI.3:53These AI influencers are No. No. Yes.3:56Instantly sales go up 30%. They're3:58running it in China. China saw right3:59away within the first two days of using4:01AI influencers on live shopping, sales4:03went up 30%.4:04>> That's one angle. That's one angle. The4:05second though is you still if you have4:07the ability to understand why something4:10is good or bad whether or not like an AI4:12spits out a script and you can look at4:14the script and say this is good or this4:15is not and then you blend in his thing4:18project management you know how to move4:19that along you're extremely valuable4:21because they could you could let's say4:23you used to make content so now you know4:25how to make it and then now they give4:26you an AI army that you know how to4:28manage properly extremely valuable skill4:30and I only bring this up because I'm4:32really impressed by the job applications4:35that we've been getting.4:36>> There's some people that are watching4:37our stuff, going to our job. Like you4:39said in in in the outreach where you're4:41like, I want people show us that you've4:44already done the job and we're starting4:45to get really interesting people that4:47are coming into the fold. Either they4:49show up to clipping class every week and4:50they're improving or they have skill4:52sets in video editing or whatever it is.4:54I'm really impressed. And ultimately,4:55like that's going to be like you're4:57always going to need you're going to be4:59valuable to a business. You're going to5:00be valuable if you're entertainment.5:02You're going to be valuable to5:03YouTubers. are going to be val going to5:05be valuable to anybody if you understand5:07story how to make content how to manage5:10it how to create it at a high level5:13super super valuable I don't think5:14that's and you could be like well AI5:16comes up with scripts I still got to5:17look at the script and be like this5:18sounds too AI5:19>> right5:20>> you're just giving game Jeremy that's5:22crazy true5:23>> sauce on sauce5:24>> he literally just gives sauce all the5:26time5:27>> there's some new people that we are5:29we've interviewed that I was deeply5:31impressed by that will be coming into5:32the fold of the5:34coming into the fold of core of the5:35heart and our content is going to level5:37up because of it. People are going to5:38enjoy watching it more. It's going to5:40have more taste, flavor, character,5:43whatever you want to call it. You know,5:44we're bringing better chefs into the5:45kitchen. The recipes are going to get5:47better.5:47>> I love that we're always leveling up,5:49too. It's kind of crazy like what we5:52have right now. I was speaking to to my5:53brother and he was like, "Bro, you're5:55way leveled up." even just from like 75:57months ago, 8 months ago. He's like5:58everything that that's it's just coming6:00together and things are just being more6:02like fluid. And so for Cth, we always6:05try to level up. That's our main thing.6:07It's like spiritual life, right? You're6:08not going to stay stuck in one place.6:09You're going to l literally level up.6:11Even if it's like crawling for us, we're6:13like we're like flying. Like we're not6:16even like running or like sprinting.6:18We're like flying to these different6:20things. So it's really cool. They're all6:22going to click up. Talk about struggle,6:23huh? Okay. Struggle.6:24>> Struggle to sit here to listen to this6:26guy. Yeah.6:27>> Yeah. I'm struggling that much.6:29>> Let's get back into the lessons. Let's6:30get back into the lessons. If you guys6:32want to come work for us, link in the6:33bio. What does full surrender mean when6:35there has to be an outcome? What does6:37full surrender mean when everybody6:40depends on the outcome? For example,6:41we're all we all work together, right?6:43And the success of this podcast means we6:46have to put out a video every week and6:48it has to, you know, there has to be6:50clips and marketing, whatever it is. and6:52we have all our individual experience,6:54but then I had the most experience in6:57building a podcast. So, most times I may7:00know certain answers that you guys7:02don't, right? So, when we come to make7:04decisions, it's like we all get together7:05and it's like, "Okay, well, what mics do7:07we use?" Oh, guys, we just use these7:09mics. Aaron's like, "Are you sure?7:10Because I heard this other thing in7:12classic Aaron fashion. Are you sure?7:14Because I saw these bubble mics. They're7:15Pokemon themed [laughter] and Pokemon7:17made them." And it's like, "No, Aaron.7:19Like, everybody uses his mics, whatever7:20it is." And then everyone's like, "Okay,7:22yeah, use those mics." But a lot of7:23times you talk about like you got to7:25fully surrender or bend. We're all7:27bending. Aaron's technically bending7:29because he's like, "Oh, we're not using7:30my Pokemon mics." But Aaron bending or7:32or quote unquote surrendering to my7:34decision.7:36>> Is it really bending or surrendering?7:37It's just the right thing to move7:38forward. And Aaron's like, "I bent. I7:40surrendered." But it's like, did you7:41really if that if we just need to make a7:43decision?7:44>> Yeah. Surrender is surrender when you7:46don't utilize it as a weapon. like see I7:50did this surrender is something you just7:52do not something you use to be like look7:54this is where I bent true full you ask7:57what true full surrender is right it's7:59regardless of what it is like we could8:01also surrender too for example we we use8:03the same situation and we go the other8:04way you knew okay I have you know these8:08SM7Bs are really good but then he goes8:11but I want to do I want to use the8:13bubble mics and the bubble Pokemon8:16bubble mics right8:17>> and our full surrender would8:20Okay. And let's see what happens. Let's8:22see how how it works out. That's8:24actually surrendering.8:25>> Yes, that makes sense.8:27>> But in the work turn on you did.8:29[laughter]8:31>> No, next week we have bubble mic.8:37>> Well, okay. But the outcome dependent is8:39we're trying to make a good podcast and8:41let's say the bubble mics suck and then8:43we wasted money xyz. And it's like in8:46that situation, it's like I probably8:48should have fought to be like Aaron8:49Pokemon bubble mics is not the way to8:52go. It's gonna make all our lives8:53better.8:53>> But you don't know that. But let's say8:54it did end up like that. Let's say it8:56did end up like that. Right? Even then8:58that there that is also surrender in9:00that you may not surrender, but he has9:02to surrender and go, "Ah, you guys are9:04right. I shouldn't have done that." And9:06then that breeds surrender. The issue9:08here with people with surrendering is9:10not that they have a problem with9:11surrendering. It's that exactly how you9:13say they want to know the outcome and9:16like work towards the outcome to be like9:18great which is good but again we're9:20missing the grace factor where like9:22there's people who literally build9:24businesses and have like the biggest9:26ideas and in invest millions of dollars9:29and then lose it all. Like they have the9:31best teams, they have the best people.9:33They have A-list players. Like they have9:34like A-level players. Like they're9:36literally like I'm in it to win it. I9:38remember there was a pyramid scheme back9:40then. My brother fell into it. It was9:42like where Donald Trump endorsed it. I9:44forget what it was, but it was a9:45straight up multi-level marketing scheme9:48and like they had but they had they sold9:50it so well that like the whole hood was9:52like, "Hey, this is something we should9:54like get into cuz you know it was like9:56serious. They had like all kinds of9:58celebrities like all this and then in10:00the end it was like it just went to10:01nothing. It went to like straight poop,10:03right? And so again, it's not about10:05like, hey, if I surrender, like it's10:09still a selective surrender because10:10you're only surrendering based off of10:12like achieving something. So is that10:14really surrender? Full surrender is10:16Johnny, you're going to scrub the10:18toilets. Why? It has nothing to do with10:20my spiritual life. Like, no, just do it.10:23I literally had to, even though I was10:25pissed off and I didn't understand, like10:27when I just did it and followed, yes,10:30obviously things changed. I would say10:33like that it molded and shaped it shaped10:36me to do like the small things that I10:38don't want to do to then set me up for10:40like when I do have things like this now10:42where there's little things that I don't10:43want to do either every single day and I10:45had to like fight that. So again full10:48surrender is not like okay we get this10:50outcome then I'll surrender cuz that's10:52not even surrender. The whole point of10:53surrender is it doesn't make sense and I10:55don't want to go with it but I'm just10:57going to trust that it's going to come10:59out the way that it's going to come out.11:00And literally that's the whole like11:02foundation of spiritual life. A lot of11:04Christians, they're not like that.11:05They'll sit there and they literally11:06will be like, "All right, like I'm going11:09to only surrender if things work out for11:11me. I'm only going to pray to God if I11:14know that this prayer is going to affect11:17the outcome and what I achieve and what11:19I receive. So how do you even surren?11:21That's not even called surrender." And11:22they think that they do. They even and11:24they they mistaken resistance to11:26surrender meaning like oh see like I'm11:29doing right like so that means I'm11:30surrendered because it's like difficult11:32for me to do right. It's like no11:34surrender is straight up it doesn't11:35matter if it's difficult or not. You're11:37like I'm going to go with the flow11:38regardless. So in our situation it would11:41just be like Pokemon bubble mics and11:43let's see how it goes. Okay. But it took11:45us 6 months. That doesn't matter though11:47at the end of the day. Like is it still11:49getting to where it's going to get? We11:51don't know because who's to say we have11:52these mics and then what if it doesn't11:54get over there? What if like we do that11:56and then it goes viral and people are11:57like, "What the heck? Why are they doing11:58like Pokemon?" And then Pokemon's like,12:00"You know what? We love your guys'12:01podcast. We're going to buy you guys for12:03300 million." Then we're like, "Oh,12:06dang." And then Aaron's like, "Told you12:09so." [laughter] You know, it's like, so12:10I mean thinking,12:12>> but does it make sense though?12:14>> It does.12:15>> 98%.12:17>> Okay. What's the 2%?12:18>> Come on. What's your two cents as12:20always?12:20>> No, I like that though. I like that12:21>> because because it's a what if in either12:23direction, right? Yes.12:24>> Because it's like for me like in that m12:27scenario,12:27>> it's like for me I'm just like I just12:29know what mics will work well and that12:31will produce good audio and it'll give12:32us the outcome that we want a good12:34podcast. We can sit there what if what12:36if you know Pokemon you know. So12:39>> for me if it was let's say12:40>> how do you make a decision is what12:42you're saying.12:42>> Well if we had to make the decision and12:44let's say I was like all right I12:45surrender. We can have Pokemon bubble12:46mics. If it went into the world,12:48[laughter]12:50if it went the other direction and then12:52the Pokemon bubble mic sucked, I'm like,12:53well, we could have kind of fixed this12:56all because I had the experience of12:57being on a podcast for 3, four years12:59where we had bad mics and then we13:01upgraded to these mics or whatever it13:02>> is. But then you're equating surrender13:03to logic again is what I'm saying.13:06>> Exactly. So then I'm like if in in the13:08situation where I have all this logic13:10because it's experience, right? It's13:12like it's like me telling you how to13:13shoot a gun. Be like, "Dude, I've shot13:15the gun." You know what I'm I never shot13:17a gun.13:17>> I I'm using that as an example.13:19>> Why? [laughter]13:21>> Surrender now. I'm just kidding.13:23>> Just kidding.13:24>> I'll surrender if you have a gun.13:25[laughter]13:27>> But you know, it's the same thing. You'd13:28be like, Jeremy, like I'm like, yo, you13:31put your hand on the bottom of the Glock13:32and you hold it like that. You'd be13:33like, "No, you actually do." Oh, what do13:35you know, John? You know, you'd be like,13:36>> "Yeah,13:37>> your surrender is more of like, okay,13:39dude." Like,13:40>> yeah. So surrender with that in that13:42case would obviously be like you'd have13:43to excuse the pride because because13:45think about it why would anyone if you13:48which you've had13:49>> by the way we were going through the mic13:51topic and the minute I use the gut13:53example Johnny's like oh [laughter] I13:54get it. Yeah. He's like oh okay13:58just13:59>> he's always clowning me. [laughter]14:01>> No, he's just like14:02>> always clowning me.14:03>> Explain in Fortnite terms [laughter]14:06have been bricks and guns.14:09I should have used that. Yeah,14:10[laughter] I should have known my14:12audience.14:13>> Yeah.14:14>> So, um No, but when it comes to14:16surrender, I totally lost my train of14:19thought. Dang. Sorry.14:21>> Cuz like you would surrender and I'm14:23like, Johnny, you hold the bottom of the14:24gun.14:24>> Right. Right. A normal person who has no14:26experience would not sit there and be14:29like, "Oh yeah, let me just put my two14:31cents in." And if you guys are doing14:32that, then that's not the right thing to14:33do. Right. A normal person would bring14:35to the table like what experience they14:37have. like all of us know that you have14:39experience with the podcast and there14:41may be some resistance as to like how we14:43want to set up the podcast but that's14:45why dialogue is also important not to14:47make sense but to sit there and go okay14:50I think nine times out of 10 people14:52don't surrender not because it doesn't14:53make sense they don't surrender because14:55they don't feel heard if you ever feel14:57like14:58>> if you ever feel like um it happens all15:00the time in in our in our meetings if a15:02if one person doesn't feel heard they'll15:05naturally be like I know that but I15:07don't want them to Right. And then there15:08will be like this pride of like, dude,15:10you just popped off on me, bro, and now15:12you want me to not pop off on you. Like,15:14nah, bet. I'm going to pop off on you.15:16So that the surrender doesn't really15:18come from like, I don't get it. Most15:19people understand why. If someone has15:21more experience than you naturally,15:23they're going to have to lead the way. I15:25mean, that's just how it is. But why15:26won't you let them lead the way? It's15:28probably rooted in pride. And that's15:29what surrender is. Is dying to the15:31pride. Is going, you know what? as much15:33as I don't like it, as much as they got15:34at me foul, as much as they ignored me15:36and didn't like really uh make me feel15:39seen or understood or heard or15:40validated, but they're still right15:42though. And that is the outcome15:43dependency. If you're which is15:45backwards, right? It's like I want the15:47outcome to come out good, but I actually15:49choose my feelings and me being15:52validated more than the outcome being15:53good. And relationships have ended like15:55this, businesses have ended like this15:57where everything is great and they're15:59just like, "But I don't care though. you16:01didn't respect me, so I don't care.16:02Like, I almost want you to fail so that16:04I could be right. And then in the end,16:06it gets to a point where there's there's16:07a point of no return and you're like,16:09it's just over with. I've seen so many16:11relationships end like that.16:13>> Business relationships, fin, you know,16:15you know, children and parent16:16relationships. It's like all kinds of16:18personal relationships have ended16:19because of that. So, yeah, I think the16:21outcome depends on not how surrendered16:24you are, but how prideful you are and16:26how how how willing you are to let go of16:28your ego. I think ego they say ego is16:31not your amigo right literally in every16:33single thing that I've ever went through16:35it was it only became more difficult it16:38was only more like callous because I I16:41had ego and pride in everything that16:44I've ever done.16:46>> So if you guys reflect on that that's16:48usually what the struggle is. Did that16:49answer your 2%?16:50>> Yes it did.16:51>> Still salty about those mics.16:53>> Yes. Hey guys, next week we're also16:56having a very special guest on our pod.17:00So, if you guys haven't subscribed yet,17:02make sure you do because you might miss17:04out and I don't want you guys to miss17:06out. But yeah, it's going to be really17:07cool. So, subscribe, guys. Do you have17:10another question?17:11>> No, I'm saying that was the perfect17:13segue because surrender is a huge part17:15when it comes to struggle.17:18>> Like, this guy struggles to surrender.17:20>> I struggle to surrender. Yeah. What do17:22you say to that?17:23>> You got to surrender to the struggle.17:28>> That's like clip it bars.17:30>> Turn off the podcast.17:31>> No, no, no. That's like saying like uh17:33uh uh like17:34>> don't love your job. Job your love.17:36[laughter]17:38>> Don't be Don't It's like I'm sad. Don't17:40be sad. Be happy. [laughter]17:42>> Be happy that you're sad.17:44>> Yeah. Know. Um, so Jeremy, you spoke to17:47me about, you asked me a question last17:49time and I want you to like reiterate17:50this to the audience because it was a17:52really good question. You said there's a17:53certain pe person that we know and17:55they've had all the unlocks and they've17:57had the crazy testimonies and they've18:00had all of these things, right? And and18:02do you remember that conversation where18:03you're like, "Dude, what?"18:05>> So what are we?18:07>> Yes. Okay. I I think and you tell me if18:09the question is right or wrong.18:10Basically, there's somebody many people18:13fit this story, right? They'll either18:15grow up in the church, hate, and then go18:17through an experience where they hate18:19God, then come back around and find18:22Johnny's content,18:24>> love Johnny for however many months. I18:26give it about six months. It's like a18:28six month thing. Then they hate Johnny,18:30then they love him again because they18:32realize their like kind of what the18:34issues were internally for themselves,18:36and they get back on track. and then18:39they'll have all these amazing things18:40happening to them. I think that a lot of18:42listeners can also attest to what18:44happens like you know their family comes18:46to Christ or they get this job that they18:48want or they finally let go of all this18:50pain that and trauma that they've held18:51on to and then18:53>> all of a sudden they'll just kind of18:55like revert back to themselves and it's18:57just up down up down up down. Yeah. And19:00so why does it keep happening to these19:01people and what about it that they're19:04not able to kind of grow from like how19:06are they not able to see themselves of19:08oh that was literally me a year ago.19:10>> So form it in the word form in the word19:12of the the episode. Why do people19:14struggle to maintain their spiritual19:16walk or like why do people always revert19:18back?19:18>> Two things expectations19:21>> and self-reflection.19:24So, a lot of people have expectations19:28and when they when they love you, they19:31feel like they're coming from a place of19:32vulnerability. Man, I don't love19:34anybody. I opened up to you19:36specifically, Johnny, or whoever it is.19:39And now I almost feel like because I19:42opened up, there's this this hidden19:45deeper layer of like I gave you my19:48vulnerability. I gave you my heart and19:50you just kind of blew it off. Do you19:53know how difficult that was for me to do19:55that? And you kind of just write it off.19:57That is an expectation. At the end of19:59the day, I expect that when I open my20:01heart, you should not treat me this way.20:04You should treat me this way. And so, a20:07lot of people are struggling because of20:10expectations. Now, when expectation is20:12not met, the second part arises, which20:14is the self-reflection part. They start20:16to reflect in a lens that's distorted.20:19Man, I opened up. I shouldn't have done20:22that. They start to think back, man.20:24See, I should have just kept close and20:26like this would have never happened and20:27this reminds me of this person doing20:29this and that person did that to me. And20:31they start to reflect but in a negative20:33lens, in a traumatic lens with a lens of20:35trauma and then they start to kind of20:38run these mental res. And the it's just20:41very easy for them to get swayed after20:43that, right? And so for me it's it's20:47very difficult to to teach people that20:51number one lower your expectations20:52because how do you even do that? It's20:54not really fully on them. A lot of20:56people just naturally we don't even20:58realize we just have expectations. We21:00just have natural expectations of like d21:03like for for example my brother came21:04with me to the low rider show and he was21:07super duper happy you know and I was21:10like really glad that my brother came21:11with me for some reason. And I was just21:13like super duper happy. And I was like,21:15man, it's cool to have my brother like21:16come with me, experience these things21:17cuz he and and seeing him happy makes me21:20happy obviously cuz I'm his brother and21:21we're connected through through, you21:23know, blood and and and all that. So he21:26this morning, however, like I didn't21:28really get a a text from him or21:30anything. So I didn't get mad, but I was21:32just like, "Huh?" Like did my brother21:35have fun? Like maybe he didn't have fun.21:38Did I do something? And immediately my21:39mind starts going that way. So what21:41happened there? There's an expectation21:43that I didn't realize was planted21:44somewhere along that line of I took you21:47out with me. I loved on you, took you21:50out to eat and there was no like good21:53morning bro. Hey, thank you for21:54everything. It was just like blank until21:57till now he hasn't texted me which is21:59not a problem but in my heart I I could22:01see that oh man I did this and it felt22:06like the expectation makes everything22:07else pointless. So spiritual journey is22:10like that too. Okay, I had this huge22:13unlock. Now, without us realizing it, we22:16have an expectation to then go, I'm a22:18Christian now. I got this unlock. It22:21seems like I' I'm not going to struggle22:22anymore. And then when that expectation22:25is not met and you start to struggle22:26again, you reflect in a negative way.22:29And then everything starts to seem22:31pointless. In any relationship when22:34whether it's a godly relationship22:35between man and God or a woman and a man22:38when expectations are not met then22:41everything feels like an uphill battle.22:43Everything feels like I'm doing22:45something and they're not doing22:46anything. Now this leads to burnout. It22:49leads to you know resentment. It leads22:51to all the negative things. So I would22:54say expectation is a really big big22:56killer in that.22:57>> Okay. So to emphasize more on that22:59example. So there's somebody that comes23:01to my mind in my own life. So there was23:04a lot of things early in their Christian23:06walk where it felt like God was23:07answering prayers when their back was23:09against the wall. Money came when it23:12needed to.23:13>> Uh relationships were healed. Just23:15really miraculous things that on paper23:18you're just like23:18>> it's God.23:19>> It's God. Like there's no no other way.23:21But then23:22>> their life started going bad. Even23:24though23:24>> in my viewpoint I'm like they're still23:26kind of like doing their best to follow23:28God. Why would God allow that? Or what23:30do you think is happening in that23:31situation?23:32>> To kill off what I'm saying to kill off23:34the expectations. God doesn't want us to23:37sit in this area of like transactional23:41mindset, right? And so even though they23:43don't ask for it, the same example I did23:45like with my brother, which when I23:47reflected was like, "Oh, it's just my23:48own expectation. I should drop that."23:50He's trying to cultivate faith instead23:53of performance. He's trying to cultivate23:55real faith. And that's the battleground.23:57Your struggle, guys, is where you're23:59going to build your faith because24:01through the pain, you're going to have24:03to throw yourself away. You're gonna24:05have to deny what you think and feel.24:07All part of the Christian life. And even24:09if you're not Christian, I've seen24:11people, the Alex Horosis, the people in24:14the world who, let's say, don't even24:15believe, who are like super just24:19experienced, the one thing they say is24:21like we literally have to lose to24:23ourselves. We have to learn to be24:25comfortable in all of the24:27unpredictability and all of the the24:30discomfort and like even that in itself24:33right is a very godly Christian type of24:35mindset. You are counted for sheep as24:38slaughter. That's what it says. And so24:40God allows that not to hurt you but to24:42be like hey I need to cultivate24:44something inside of you that you can't24:46see. Because if it's up to us we will24:48never move out out of a comfortable24:50mindset. Never. None of us want to work.24:53None of us want to like genuinely we're24:55just like man I want to like and if you24:57do work you only just want to build24:59things so that you can see like okay I25:01can finally relax. You're building to to25:03relax. You're not building to work more.25:05Like that's just not how it works,25:06right? So daily devotions are back and25:09they're in your email. Every single day25:10I start with the word of God and I share25:12that with you guys so that you can also25:14have the same peace, hope, and happiness25:16that I move forward throughout the day.25:18Every morning I send you a piece of25:20scripture and an explanation to help you25:22with your spiritual walk. There's25:23nothing more powerful than starting your25:25day with the word of God. This quick 225:26minutes each morning will set you up for25:28the rest of your day. These are 100%25:30free. So if you want to sign up for the25:32emails, link in the description. People25:34realize they expect this thing of I have25:37God. He's given me all of these miracles25:39and there's multiple things that God25:41allows when he takes those things away.25:43He builds character obviously, but he25:45builds patience. Not only does he build25:47patience, he builds gratitude. If you25:49don't have gratitude in your life, even25:50for the smallest things, then you're25:52only going to be chasing dopamine every25:55day. You're only going to be chasing25:56expectations. And even if God gives you25:59every single thing in your life, you're26:01not going to be happy, right? I26:02complained a lot. Even though I went to26:04prison, I complained about it was always26:07like my heart had hella complaints.26:09People would be like, "Bro, you're a26:10negative Nancy all the time, Johnny, for26:12real." I'm like, "What do you mean? I'm26:13a realist." Like, I would be like that.26:15I'm a real dude, man. I keep it 100%.26:17And I would tell the homies like, "Hey,26:19you can't be telling me like that my26:22life ain't I grew up in the projects,26:24man. I had a bad cards dealt to me." But26:26when I went to Liberia, Africa, like I26:29realized that I was just an ungrateful26:32little piece of garbage basically. Like26:34they did not have running water. They26:37did not even have electricity. They had26:40candles for nighttime. And they would26:42read the Bible like with the candle.26:44Like some people have like their Bibles26:46are burned because they're literally26:47holding it. They can't even see it,26:49right? It's like crazy things like this.26:51And I'm over here like we have26:52electricity. Even in prison, we have26:54electricity. We have like central AC. We26:56have like all this other stuff, let's26:57say, right? And running water. And yet I27:00was never ever thankful or appreciative.27:02And that was a big unlock for me where27:05God was like, "Are you even happy for27:06the things that you do?" And of course,27:09if you tell me that that heart changed27:12in like maybe a month. I would come home27:14and I was like I remember kneeling down27:16and like pretty much kissing the ground.27:18Like I'm back in LA. I'm back in my27:20neighborhood. I'm thankful I don't have27:22to struggle. But in a month I literally27:24forgot. I forgot. Like I started to27:26complain again. And this is how the27:28human heart is. It's it's that's why God27:30says your heart is deceitful. And God27:32has to give you a new heart and a new27:34spirit in Ezekiel. And what that means27:36is so that you can distrust your old27:39one. Before I was like, I deserve this.27:42I deserve that. Here's my expectations.27:44You don't meet it, we're going to have a27:45problem. Now it's like, dude, for me to27:49even have someone listen to me, for me27:51to even like wake up, I have to remind27:53myself that that's a beautiful thing.27:55There are people that didn't wake up27:56this morning. There a a friend of mine,27:59you know, recently sadly like something28:01happened with their family member and28:02they committed suicide. Not everyone is28:04guaranteed life, but we wake up thinking28:07like, "No, life is guaranteed and I'm28:08going to argue and I'm going to get28:10frustrated." You know, I was on text28:11message with somebody going back and28:13forth before the podcast, but then and28:15I'm like frustrated obviously to to the28:17point where I'm not I'm distracted28:18straight up and at the same time I'm28:20like, "You know what though, God? Like28:21I'm alive and yeah, I don't feel like28:23doing sometimes a podcast. Sometimes28:25it's a struggle. I don't feel like doing28:26x y and z. I feel frustrated when people28:29don't recognize that I'm struggling,28:30right? And I have to be the leader." And28:32there's things like this. But I realize28:34like, you know what, God, like you, if I28:37think about you a little bit and I28:38reflect a little bit and if I lower my28:40expectations that people have to28:42understand me and people need to see28:43what I've done for them, then everything28:46really doesn't become a problem. Things28:47kind of become minimalized and I'm able28:50to just kind of move forward. So that's28:52really the lesson is that people28:54struggle not with the fact that they28:57struggle, they struggle because there's28:59an expectation and they don't want to29:00lower that expectation. They don't want29:02to lower those things. They It's29:03surrendering is not hard, right?29:06Lowering your anger is not hard either.29:08Try it when you get angry and go crazy29:10and as soon as you hear the sirens and29:12the cops come, you're going to act29:13you're going to follow suit. I don't29:14care how gangster you are. You're going29:16to be like, "Oh yes, officer." Yeah. All29:18of a sudden, you're going to turn into29:19like Jeremy speaking, you know, speaking29:22like a white person.29:23>> What about Why don't you ever say Aaron?29:24>> Well, like an actual white person. But29:27you because you're literally whiter than29:29Aaron29:30>> and I don't know how that happened.29:32>> That's not true.29:34>> That is so true.29:35>> That's not [laughter] true.29:36>> That's why our new podcast guy, he's29:38literally trying not to laugh at you.29:40[laughter]29:41>> Is that29:43you won't come back? No, I'm [laughter]29:45just kidding. He's like, "No, no, no."29:46Was I thinking29:48>> interesting?29:49>> That's so true, though. Like29:51expectations has so much to do with like29:54like your heart posture moving through29:56life has so much to do with your29:57expectations and just your mindset on29:59life in general. It's like30:01>> down to the littlest thing like how much30:03how many times have you guys expected30:05something to be the best food ever and30:06you're expecting oh it's Michelin star.30:08Oh it's high review [laughter]30:10>> because someone hypes it up. Maybe you30:12live with someone who hypes everything30:14up. When they love it they say it's the30:15best. the absolute it's the best30:18[laughter] and so they hype it up so30:19much30:20>> Donald Trump30:21>> to where your expectations are so high30:23unless it's literally [snorts] the best30:25thing you've ever had it's not going to30:27meet those expectations which it's so30:29rare that when is something the best30:30thing you've ever had true30:31>> if instead when your expectations are30:33>> nothing or even low or this is going to30:36be horri if you set the expectations30:37this is going to be horrible this is30:39going to taste horrible it's bad it's30:41bad pizza30:42>> dude this reminds me of a lesson go30:44ahead go30:44>> yeah but we would go and we would eat it30:46and you'd say, "This is pretty good.30:47This isn't the worst pizza I've ever30:49had." Because your heart posture and30:51your mindset just have so much to do30:52with the expectations you set. And it's30:54not only just for pizza, it's for30:55yourself in life. It's like, right, why30:57are people so hard on themselves? It's30:58because they have these high30:59expectations.31:00>> Okay, I'm sorry.31:01>> No, say your lesson,31:02>> dude. So, when he said that, Aaron said,31:05that triggered something for me. Like, I31:06remember pastor telling me the levels of31:08the heart. He loves to use analogies and31:10he was like, "Johnny, if you think like31:13let's say a a human being has a a scale31:16of one to 100 in terms of just their own31:19moral, ethical code and their own31:21rating, okay? And their rating is, let's31:24say, let's say Johnny, your rating is31:2660, right, as a human being." And I'm31:29like, "Dang, I can't be freaking like31:3080." Like 60 is like a D, dude. 60 like31:32a F, dude. About to fail.31:34>> Yeah. But he's like, "Let's say you're31:3660 and your heart, however, believes31:40that you're 30." And he goes, "And let's31:44say you get 40% of like a 40 rating of31:48blessings. If your heart is 30, even31:50though you're truly 60,31:53but you get 40 and although it's 2031:55short, would you be thankful or not?"31:57And it clicked for me. I was like,31:58"Dang, that's so true." He goes, "But32:00let's say you're 10, but your heart is32:03like, "Nah, I'm 80." And then you get32:0770.32:08>> You're 10, you got upgraded 60, but32:11you're like, "Dude, what the heck?" No,32:12man. I Then he's It started to show me32:15the gratitude aspect and how to32:17self-reflect and go, "Man, I'm truly32:20like, it's so true how it's going to32:22affect your heart and and as Aaron was32:24saying, like it it's triggered that.32:25It's like, man, pastor's such a gem."32:27And now I remember for the longest time32:29I'd be like you're a 50, you're a 40.32:32Like lower your heart, you know what I32:34mean? And that's even till this day at32:36least with the gospel. Now other things32:38I struggle with honestly. But in terms32:40of the gospel, I used to think I was all32:42that. Man, I studied and I would fight.32:44He like Israelites and I would argue and32:46I thought I was all that. But through32:48him teaching me that lesson, I know now32:50that whether we do El Paso with 5,00032:52people or we do a 100 people, it's like,32:54okay, like that's fine. you know, I'm32:56I'm I'm whether it's 100 people, whether32:58it's 10, whether it's one person, like I33:01can be thankful about that because this33:02is in my gospel and I'm at the level of33:0410, right? And so it just really helps33:07in so many ways where I think a lot of33:10people don't realize that in their33:12hearts they're like 120, you know,33:14they're they're like 200. And even33:16though they get 150 when they're really33:19like 50, 100, you know, because they're33:22200 in their heart, that 150 is not33:24enough for them. And that's why God33:26allows struggle. That's why God allows33:28like, "Hey, you you got to something's33:30got to bring us down." And the one thing33:32that brings us down the best is the33:34trials and tribulations, is the humbling33:37parts that you cannot correct. The33:39things that you cannot see that come33:40from your blind spots that just knock33:42you over. It's so humbling and it's like33:44a a very good thing to to struggle33:47essentially, which I don't think I could33:48even say this just five years ago. It's33:50a good thing to struggle. Like what the33:52heck? Like no, it's not. I don't want to33:54struggle at all. So yeah.33:56>> Well, I was just going to say true. The33:57struggle exposes your blind spots. It's33:59like the the the space that the blind34:01spots is the space the difference34:03between what you actually are and what34:04you think you are and that it just34:05exposes that because you can't really34:07get around it.34:07>> Yeah.34:08>> Um but yeah.34:09>> Is there a thing in your life where34:11you're kind of like this is like a hard34:12example for yourself?34:14>> No, it just happens all the time34:16honestly. Like let's just say that if34:18the plan was for me to receive 50,34:22>> if I was if I was expecting 100, I'll34:24always be upset. If I was expecting34:26zero, I'll always be happy. The 5034:28wasn't going to change because that's34:29the plan. So it's like where you set34:32your heart posture can help shape34:35>> your outcome of at least the outcome34:37won't change, but how you receive it can34:40>> if your heart's low.34:41>> Yes. My question is how do you keep your34:44expectation low in scenario in34:48situations where you should kind of have34:50an high expectation or else it creates34:52pain for others.34:54>> For example, let's say we want the the34:57best podcast producer.34:59>> Yes.34:59>> You know, Elijah's new.35:01>> Yes.35:01>> But let's say he's horrible.35:03>> Mhm.35:03>> And we're like, you're you're not35:05horrible. I'm just using it as an35:07example. [laughter]35:07But let's say and let's say he's35:09horrible. Are we supposed to just be35:10like, "Well, you know, at least at least35:12he didn't rob us." You know what I'm35:14saying? Or at least he didn't like or I35:16don't I'm trying to make up the worst35:17case scenario. You know what I'm saying?35:18It's like the expectation was that, hey,35:20you're coming in, you're going to do a35:22good job, and and and35:23>> you should be good at it. Instead of,35:24all right, well, what if he came in35:26here, he's like, "What's a camera?"35:28>> And we're just like, are we supposed to35:29just be like, "All right, I'm going to35:31lower my heart. It's okay, Elijah. You35:32don't know what a camera is. You told us35:34that." You know what I'm saying? Like,35:35>> that's too situational. I think heart,35:38we're talking about heart posture. So,35:40positionally, what I did transparently35:42was, you know, and this is nothing35:43against you, Elijah, was I go to God,35:46right? And I'm like, God, we we have35:48people that referred, you know, Elijah,35:51right? We we Bin, shout out Balin,35:53right? We love him. And I was like,35:55look, God, but the technical podcast35:57stuff is not up to his skill or and any36:00skill in general. Of course, we're going36:02to have our outlines. We're going to36:05have our like regimens and our standards36:07that need to be followed. But God, you36:09have to open the way too. You have to36:11also allow them him to like want to work36:14with us cuz he could be the best and36:16then he don't want to work with us. Like36:18these guys are clowns, you know, like or36:20you call this a Christian podcast like36:22they're talking about technology and36:23whatever whatever. So I understood that36:26>> the task was not hey Lord like give me a36:30podcast producer. it was more or this36:32podcast producer must be the X Y and Z.36:36We can have those expectations. The36:38heart of God, I have this. What do you36:41think about it is surrender? Whereas a36:44lot of people are like live and die on36:45this hill. I set this up. I'm paying him36:48this much and he has to do this, right?36:51And if he doesn't do it, like I can't36:52what am I supposed to go back to zero?36:54No, it's you start with zero. Hey Lord,36:57I'm going to pay this with money you36:58gave me. I'm going to write out the37:00thing with the brain you gave me. But37:02God, like if you don't even allow if you37:04don't see this from beginning to end, it37:06doesn't matter what we do. So of course,37:08God, I'm going to move forward cuz I'm37:10not just going to be like everybody's37:12you can take advantage of me like do37:13whatever you want. It's more of like I'm37:15going to do this. But in my heart37:17though, God, how do you like lead this?37:19And how do you want to lead this? And if37:21it's not Elijah, then have it be37:23somebody else. Or if it's not this37:24person, have it be that person. And37:26Lord, also let me see that that's what37:29you want. Not just like my own37:31expectations and let it override. That37:33in itself is coming as zero as lowering37:35your heart. Does that make sense?37:37>> Right. And it's like like like Johnny's37:39saying, you can lower your expectations37:41without lowering your standards. Like if37:43he's horrible, then you just get a new37:45person. That's fine. But you can affect37:47your outcome and how you feel by by37:49impacting your expectations. So let's37:51say he comes, he's going to come and be37:53as good as he is. Good or horrible, he's37:55comes. But what you were expecting will37:57change how you react. If you were37:59expecting a beast and he's bad, you're38:01going to be upset.38:02>> If you weren't expecting anything and38:03he's great, you're going to be super38:04happy.38:05>> But it's like if he's not good, you just38:06like like Johnny says, you move it on.38:08But your expectations, sure, they can38:10actually affect the outcome. And don't38:11lower your standards. They can affect38:13how you receive the outcome.38:15 this guy is a pastor. Aaron38:17>> Aaron Chang. [laughter] Aaron Chang with38:18the bars.38:19>> Your bro is a gangster now.38:21>> Just reiterating you. Okay. Okay. Let's38:23move on to a different topic. So why38:25does life get harder when I'm trying to38:27do right?38:28>> So life gets harder when you're trying38:30to do right because it's met with38:31resistance, right? Like again it comes38:33down to expectations, right? If I have38:36if I feel like something is the38:38expectation for most people when they're38:41trying to do right is life has to now38:43somehow 180. Okay, I did right. I38:46stopped drinking. I stopped doing X, Y,38:48and Z. I quit corn. I So I should be38:50happier. How come I'm not feeling38:52happier? If anything, I'm feeling worse.38:55And so expectations always breed38:58resistance, right? And when it when the39:00resistance comes and your expectation39:03isn't met, then you again start to feel39:05like, yo, this is pointless. Why am I39:08doing this? Right? I thought if I'm39:10doing this, then I would get that. So39:14also why God allows your life to kind of39:16go a little bit difficult and most all39:19of us can agree when I became Christian.39:21It was like I I took on a ton of bricks.39:24My homies didn't respect me as much39:25anymore. I started getting ridiculed. I39:28started to now live by a standard and39:30finally started to resist against my39:31flesh. I didn't I couldn't do rugs39:33anymore. I couldn't carry a stray39:35anymore. I couldn't do all of these39:37things. So it was an overnight shift and39:39it's foundationally flipping things on39:41its head. Of course, you're going to39:43feel some type of way when you're trying39:44to do right. But like anything else, I39:47was equating my expectation was I should39:50have no pain. Not only that, I had39:52another expectation under that39:53expectation that pain equates to being39:56bad. So if it's painful, it's not good.39:59Comfort is good, pain isn't good. And40:01then I had another expectation that I40:03have to be in control even in my own40:05spiritual life. So if I have no control40:09and my expectation isn't met and I also40:13don't feel like you know happy doing all40:16of these things then there there was40:18that heart and most of you guys probably40:19feel this is like why am I even doing40:21this? The the heart that arose most in40:24me when I was trying to do right was is40:26this even going to pay off? Am I like40:29stupid to like want to do good? Why am I40:32even doing this? Sometimes I just want40:33to go back to the easiest route which40:35I'm comfortable with. Yes, it's painful,40:37but dang, this seems like way more40:39painful when I thought that everyone's40:41like, "I'm Christian. I'm happy." Yeah.40:43Hallelujah. Like, I didn't feel that. I40:46was like more on demon time. I was like40:48I was angry at God. I was like, "Why?40:49Why are you doing this?" And I didn't40:51realize that legit it was all40:54expectations, right? So, for me, the40:57struggle wasn't me being obedient. Being40:59obedient was simple cuz I was doing the41:01things. The struggle was after I was41:04obedient, how come I'm not getting41:05rewarded for my obedience? That was more41:08more more crazy. Following rules is not41:10difficult. It's when you're like, I41:12followed the rules. How come I'm not41:13getting something out of this? That's41:15when you start to play these these these41:17intrusive thoughts of like, dang, am I41:19even why am I wasting my time? Like,41:21what what's what's going on? You know,41:23so what God taught me was through41:25everything was that I had to learn41:27faith. And faith always feels pointless41:30before it feels peaceful, right? Like41:32you're literally like, I'm trusting. I41:34don't see it. But then later, peace41:36comes from it. I'm scrubbing the toilet.41:38I don't know why I'm doing this. I don't41:39know why I'm reading this Bible and41:41going to these prisons that literally41:43give me PTSD. Not sure why. And now I41:46see it. Oh my gosh, I needed to go41:47through all of this stuff because if I41:49can spit in front of and preach the41:51gospel in front of prisoners who are41:53like, you say something wrong and I'm41:55going to get you, then nothing. There's41:57no fear when there's 5,000 or 50,00041:59people. It's nothing to me. And so I42:01didn't know that. But everything always42:03feels pointless when you're working out42:05and you go to the gym. It it feels42:07pointless sometimes. You're like, "Dude,42:08I'm I'm doing these workouts." Shout out42:10George. I love George, our personal42:12trainer. But he had me doing granny42:13workouts at first. He's like, "Okay, you42:16got to do a hip thrust." I'm like, "Hip42:18thrust? I'm not trying to get a BBL42:19status booty." Like, "What the heck,42:21dude?" He's like, "No, it's good for42:22your correction and your posterior42:24chain." And I'm just like42:24>> the cat cow.42:25>> The cat cow, too. I'm like, "I'm going42:27to do this in a corner cuz this is so42:28sus." Like what is going on here, dude?42:31Right? It's like yoga poses and I'm42:33like, yo, what's going I want to be do42:35do burpees. Every time I do a cat cow,42:37by the way, guys, not to go on a42:38tangent, I do a burpee to make sure that42:40when people look at me and be like,42:41"This guy's a girl." I'm like, "No,42:42look, I've been to prison. I compensate42:44with a burpee." I'm just kidding. But42:47basically, like, but after, right, I'm42:50way stronger. If I'm being honest,42:52Jeremy used to clown me, too. He's like,42:53"Bro, you're doing girl exercises." And42:55now he is getting stronger, too. So he42:58knows right and in this way we are43:01always like it doesn't make sense and43:04it's not supposed to make sense. It43:06doesn't make sense. Things faith is not43:08necessarily supposed to make sense.43:10You're supposed to trust that even when43:11it doesn't make sense that that's what's43:13going to happen. So yes, does life get43:15harder? Yes. But a lot of it is43:17self-imposed. It's I have an expectation43:20that I'm finally turning to God now and43:22I need to feel X, Y, and Z. more secure,43:26more in control, more peaceful. And when43:28that's not met, that's where the43:30struggle arises. Oh man, I'm stressing.43:33Why didn't I do this? You know what I'm43:35saying? So, yeah.43:37>> Has there any been a situation of43:39somebody you know that is surrendered? I43:41know you're going to be like, "No,43:42that's not possible." But they're43:43surrendered and still kind of living a43:46very tough life. Like, they're just43:49>> a lot of people I can use a the B even43:52just the Bible. When you guys look at43:53Hebrews 11, it's the hall of faith. They43:56like not the hall of fame, but the hall43:58of faith, right? There's Abraham, Isaac,44:00Jacob, Samson, all these people in there44:02who did me tremendous things. The one44:04thing about the Bible is crazy about44:06every person that lives in the Bible.44:08Most people never saw the end of their44:11promise. So God promised something to44:14them and they got martyed. like heads44:16chopped off, literally crucified upside44:19down, arrows shot at them, thrown down,44:22like burned at the stake, but they got44:24promised something. Wait, like, hey,44:26you're going to have this, you're going44:27to have that. And it was either44:29short-lived or whatever. So, in this44:32way, I've I've noticed that it's44:34happened with a lot of people. I I think44:36I'm very very blessed because for me I44:39received a lot of grace to be able to44:40like see the things that are happening.44:43But this didn't happen overnight either.44:46I was trucking like literally nine 1044:49years literally doing this. It wasn't44:51like oh wow bro just came out with a44:53bomb testimony and then blew up and then44:56these three these two you know people44:57came and helped him. These geniuses44:59helped him straight up. Like it it took45:02so much to sit there and cultivate.45:04Jeremy was watching from the side a gang45:06of times, too. If Aaron is being honest,45:08he's like, I don't know, right? And in45:11the end, it was like, man, they're45:12obviously grateful. I hope that they're,45:14you know, working with me, right? And45:15so,45:16>> well, [laughter]45:18right. But everything takes time to45:21cultivate. And I think, you know, yes,45:24there there is, you know, people where45:26they still struggle. I I there's pastors45:28here that came from Korea that are still45:31struggling to like they have three45:33members, four members. They've been in45:34the States for like seven years. Imagine45:36having a congregation and you're as45:39leveled up as we are and probably more.45:41These are pastors who uprooted their45:42whole lives to come to a foreign country45:45where they speak no English and they45:48have nothing to go back to because45:49they've spent seven years of their life45:51grinding this. So, they can't go back45:52and work in some other place. They45:54probably lost their citizenship there.45:56In Korea, there is no dual citizenship.45:58You have to give one up to get another45:59one, right? And so then to sit there and46:01have three members, seven members, and46:04these two, three, seven members are46:06supporting them. In my opinion, that46:08would be a struggle in anyone's opinion.46:10I follow God for seven years, and I46:13don't ha I'm literally not even living46:15paycheck to paycheck. I'm just like it's46:17like I'm living donation to donation,46:19which hits different, you know? So,46:21yeah, there is people like that, Jeremy.46:24>> So, does God have favorites? He doesn't46:25have favorites. I think it does depend46:28on who he gives grace to. So God says,46:31right, if he gave grace to everybody46:34that followed [snorts] suit, like let's46:36say in my life, like grinded 10 years,46:38studied the gospel, read Hebrew,46:40Aramaic, Coney Greek, all that, and then46:42he rewarded it for me, then we as human46:44beings would also transactionalize that46:46too. I see it all day in my lives.46:48People come in and go, "How do you quote46:50scripture, bro? I want to quote46:51scripture. What books did you read?"46:52Like, cuz they're trying to get to that46:54level. But what they don't understand is46:55the heart posture was always I didn't46:57even want to get to this level. I wasn't46:59sitting here going you know what in 20047:02you know it's like I'm going to meet47:03Jeremy and Aaron and I'm we're going to47:05blow up. Like that wasn't even part of47:06it. I was just focused on my grind. And47:09so God says to who I give grace to and47:12mercy to is who I give grace to and47:14mercy to. So he has his own system. No47:18one is going to know the system. Why?47:19Because if we did we would47:20transactionalize it like we do47:22everything else. So his whole point is,47:24I'm going to give mercy. Do you trust47:27me? Do you trust me? Do you trust that47:31regardless of what it is, and honestly,47:33bro, that pastor who has three47:36congregate members, another pastor who47:37has seven, they're way more happier than47:40I am. And I I can vouch for that. Every47:43Dallas retreat that we do, every men's47:45conference that we do, every world47:47conference that we do, they're the most47:49happiest people. There's not a lick of47:51jealousy in them. And then I see people47:53with big churches, 100, 300, 400,00047:57members, 3,000 members who are47:58complaining about every little thing.48:00Oh, when is that brother going to change48:02her his heart? When is that sister going48:03to stop doing that? Like, they get48:05frustrated. And I'm like, yo, this is48:07wild. And then they can't see it either.48:09Oh, that pastor, he's only happy because48:10he only has manage three people. And I'm48:12like, I thought Jesus was managing48:14everybody. I thought the Holy Spirit48:15leads. I'm not understanding. And so for48:17me, I'm able to see that there is a how48:21do I say a a comfort and a almost48:25advantage in the struggle in that you're48:28always clinging to God. You're always48:30dependent on God. You're always seeking48:32him. And it's different, you know, as as48:35difficult as it was for me and my48:36brother, you know, with that situation48:37this morning and as it is now with one48:39of the homies, you know, tripping, I was48:42like, you know what, God, now there's a48:44there's a heart of like I can go to you,48:46God. I remember the times where I would48:49have to deal with the struggle alone.48:51And I know every Christian has sensed48:53this, like it there's a there's a48:55comfort in like, man, I'm struggling,48:56but I at least have somewhere to go to,48:59man, I'm I'm I'm tripping, but at least49:00I have somewhere to like somebody I can49:02lean on. And God always promised that,49:05right? He doesn't say, I'm going to take49:06away your pain and because I favor you49:08or I don't favor you. And it's not even49:10about that. We should not look at other49:11people's blessings anyway because49:13comparison is a thief of joy, right? The49:15issue is not does God give blessings. He49:17blesses every single day if you wake up.49:19The issue is I I want those blessings. I49:22want that is covetousness. And in this49:24way, that's why people trip out, right?49:27So, it's not even that God chose49:29favorites. It's more of49:31>> I want to be in my opinion, this is what49:33favoritism is. Now, prove to me, God,49:36that you're not favoring this person by49:37giving X, Y, and Z. Again, expectations.49:41I expect for you to do this for me49:43because I followed you, God. I came from49:45Korea, which they would have a valid49:47point, and I uprooted my whole life and49:49I donate to the church and I feed these49:52people and I spend all this time. What49:53what I do with you guys on mainstage,49:55live streams, all this is the same thing49:56that they do. They're just not getting49:58recognition on a world standard, on a49:59global standard like I am, but they're50:01doing they're working just as hard as50:02me. They wake up right in the morning50:04with me, 4 in the morning, every50:05morning. They have Bible study. They50:07have all of this stuff. I just happen to50:09propel out of it. And I think it's50:11because God pied me straight up. I think50:13that50:14>> pity me God. Pity me God. [laughter]50:16>> Pity me next.50:17>> Literally Jeremy, why do you how do you50:20have these crazy We're going to have to50:22talk after this podcast, man. [laughter]50:24>> Roby having some great like how do you50:26even think of stuff like that? Pretty50:28much my god. Please God, thank you so50:29much. I have a lot of money, too.50:30>> Instantly diminishing the whole like50:32>> literally. [laughter]50:34>> Get them guys. Get them in the comments.50:36Just kidding. Just kidding. Like I don't50:39want to talk.50:41>> I was just joking. Just kidding. Just50:42kidding.50:44[laughter]50:45>> What?50:45>> No, keep going.50:47>> No, that was good. That was good.50:48>> No, I'm just saying you keep going.50:49Finish your thought.50:50>> Yeah. So, so essentially50:52>> saying he pied you.50:52>> Yeah. I feel like God pied me and um you50:55know, I'm very thankful like I can50:57sense, you know, feelings are obviously50:58deceitful, but scripturally speaking, I51:01was truly a fool. Like like honestly,51:04like the worst of the worst. And um he51:07says, "I will utilize the fools to51:09confound the wise." One thing I do51:11notice when we were at even at the low51:12rider show was a lot of people kept51:15asking me, "Bro, when they come up to51:17me, they're like, "Bro, your testimony51:18is so far, but how did you change?" I51:21keep getting asked that question,51:23"Brother, I'm going to church, too, and51:25I'm" and I I I can't tell them you're51:26transactionalizing, but what what they51:29see is it's something short of a51:32miracle, right? It's like how can a51:34person go and Jeremy harps on this a lot51:36like you if this guy could go from51:37shooting people to doing X Y and Z and51:40then becoming peaceful like I want to51:43learn from who he learned from which is51:44straight up wisdom honestly and a lot of51:46people are the same51:47>> is that kind of transactional though be51:49honest51:49>> that's not that's not transactional51:50because you you didn't think that this51:52would it would lead out to this you were51:54just more of like interested right you51:56can be interested but transaction is51:58like I want exactly that52:01>> and and I want like I want that type of52:03peace and happiness, which is not a bad52:04thing. But you have to realize something52:07like that's the whole point. God is52:09going to use you. Instead of feeling52:10like, man, I need to get out of this.52:13You have to start having hope. Wow, I'm52:16in this. And if God did that for Johnny,52:18he's going to do that for me, too. Not a52:20transaction, but a faithful, humble52:22heart. We're hiring, guys. Maybe it'll work.53:40>> Genuinely, I can't do this without a53:41team. So, I'm very thankful for anyone53:43who supports the mission. I look forward53:45to hearing from you guys to go, "Hey,53:47Lord, although this is difficult and I'm53:49struggling, you're going to help me53:51because he's walking proof of that." And53:53every single person I've ever met like53:55that, even pastors now who are getting53:57big. Pastor Daniel, shout out him.53:59Denver pastor, church is getting54:01humongous, Vegas pastor, England pastor,54:04they have one in UK, all these pastors54:07were literally like, "Hey, if that if54:10God can I remember Johnny how he was. If54:12God can help him, God's going to help54:14me." And those people, Pastor John too,54:17their congregations are growing crazy.54:19And it's not because they wanted their54:21congregation to grow. They just had the54:23heart of like, you know what, that54:25father is also my father. The god of54:27Johnny is also the god of me and he's54:30going to help me. Like, this isn't the54:31end of it. And they would, they like54:33cheer me on, bro. It's like crazy. And54:35through that, they get super blessed.54:38It's like super blessed. And I'm like,54:39"Wow." So,54:40>> something that's kind of blown my mind54:42that I think about is again, it's the54:4410ear journey, right? It's like54:45everybody's only seeing a small sliver54:47of what you went through. And I don't54:48think they'd want to be who you were 554:50years ago or whatever it is. And then54:53>> and even then you were probably them in54:55that transactional mindset being like54:57why am I not getting these things? I54:59studied more. I'm better probably. I55:01know more about the Bible than some of55:02these Korean pastors or whatever. But55:04then it was the point of when you were55:05fully broken down55:08>> and you didn't care about any of those55:10things anymore that 5 years after that55:13then me and Aaron came into your life55:15and you're like eh like55:16>> all right like whatever you know so I55:19think it's also like your position but55:21hey don't get it twisted you got a big55:23head God will take it away you know55:25[laughter] I'm just I'm kidding but I'm55:27saying it's like true it's you learned55:29really intense lessons of surrender55:32ultimately before God ever put something55:34shiny in front of you. And also that55:36you're able to teach the lesson and55:37you're able to see the heart of55:38transactional versus interest versus55:41>> whatever it is. Cuz like imagine if you55:43had gotten a taste of fame at year three55:46or four or five.55:48>> I'll fumble it. I'll fumble it.55:49>> Yeah. You probably would not be good55:50news anymore. You would have never55:52reached this the congregation or be able55:54to lead people the way you need to lead55:56to.55:57>> But you might have 10 girlfriends.55:58[laughter]55:59>> I'd be King Solomon Chang.56:02Like the one thing when Jeremy's saying56:04this too that I want you guys cuz as56:06audiences I'm thinking about your hearts56:08too. I know that he just said right you56:11went through intense lessons. I know56:13immediately there's going to be people56:15like I don't want to go through intense56:16lessons. And the funny thing is guys I56:19was that too. When I would look at other56:21people I like other pastors who were56:23very very well known. Like pastor John56:25is known as a scorpion king. Bro is well56:27known. He you guys think I'm doing a56:29lot. He literally stood in in India and56:32preached to a stadium of a 100,00056:34people. Something crazy like that. You56:36know, India is like China is like the56:37second largest population. So there was56:39a lot of people. And so when I looked at56:42Pastor John, I was like, I'm never going56:43to be like him. And at that time, he was56:45a minister, too. He wasn't even he was56:46like on my level. He wasn't a pastor.56:48And so there's all these things of like56:51I always feel like I have to do56:53something. But I'm telling you guys56:55though, you don't have to do anything. I56:57didn't want to go through these in these56:58intense lessons. I didn't want to like57:01follow. I ran away multiple times.57:04Multiple times. I went against the57:07church multiple times. There are things57:10that I had to go through though in order57:12for me to cultivate like this. And57:13there's still things. Who's to say I57:15won't run away again? I don't know that.57:17But one thing that I'm surrendered about57:18is Father God, I know you. I know enough57:22now from running away enough from just57:24seeing all the trials and tribulations57:26that you're real. Like genuinely, you're57:28real and there's nothing that like if I57:30lost everything today, I still think I57:32would still be okay and I still think I57:33would be preaching the gospel. Like57:35that's just how it is. I tell Aaron and57:36Jeremy all the time. Like to me it's not57:38about the fame and it's like not even57:40about the money. Like I want the money57:42to build and obviously take care of my57:44family. Sure. But I could do that on my57:46own respectfully. Like it's not an57:48issue. But for me to think like if I57:50lost everything, I genuinely be like,57:52man, I I'll be okay. And I think that's57:55what I'm so happy about is like I don't57:58I won't I don't have to sit there when I58:00used to be like, "Oh my gosh, if I don't58:02get money, what's going on now? You guys58:05living paycheck to paycheck all that."58:07You guys will feel that same God who58:09helped me is obviously going to help you58:10guys. Whatever struggle you guys are58:12struggling with, remember one thing, it58:14is only a struggle to you. It's not a58:16struggle to God. It just is not like it58:19non-believer, believer or not, if you58:21understand the deity of Christ and who58:23he is and and who God is, you know that58:25he's almighty. It doesn't matter, right?58:27And so he's going to handle everything.58:30Whether you think it, believe it, feel58:32it, move towards it, run away from it or58:33not, it's just how it's going to be. And58:35I'm living proof of that. I never I'm58:37not as obedient as people think. I'm not58:39as this, this, and that. Like I'm58:41straight up a human being at the end of58:43the day. I just received mercy and58:46grace, not favored by God, but more of58:48man, you know what? I'm going to use58:50Johnny to show that it's not Johnny.58:54It's not him. And he's like a a perfect58:57exhibit a, you know, to like show the58:59the the grace of God and the love of59:01God. And so that's what I tell a lot of59:03people. And I hope you guys can learn59:05that too.59:06>> Bars.59:07>> Bars. Well, I'm kind of just curious59:10because now you've come a really long59:12way obviously and you've mentioned a few59:15things there, but I'm curious if59:18anything um like what you still struggle59:20with just on the topic of struggle.59:22>> I think for me I struggle with being59:26like perfect. [clears throat] I think59:28one thing about me is I'm very hard on59:30myself. Like, and then when I'm hard on59:33myself, there's another heart that59:35creeps in where it's it's like I'm hard59:38on myself and then I feel like other59:41people won't accept me. So, I have to59:43put up a wall that's like, "Well, then59:44forget them then." Like, does that make59:46sense? It's like I like I I want to be59:49liked, let's say, or I want to be I59:51guess it is cuz I want to be like I want59:53to be liked because I want to be59:54perfect. I mean, why else? I don't I59:56want to be immaculate. I don't want to59:58have any issues struggling with any59:59issues. But when I feel like I'm1:00:02struggling, then I feel like people are1:00:04not going to accept me. You know, James1:00:06Ston said this.1:00:08>> He was like,1:00:09>> I I don't think anyone would love me. I1:00:11felt that when he said I was like,1:00:13that's so true. I don't feel like anyone1:00:14could truly love me if they really know1:00:16if they really knew who I really was.1:00:19Like I feel like I'm really dumb. I tell1:00:20you guys all the time like, man, I feel1:00:22like I'm stupid, you know? I'm I'm my1:00:24bad. I apologize. My bad. My bad. But1:00:26that's because in me I always feel like1:00:29dude I'm not doing enough like I'm not1:00:31enough on certain things you know and1:00:34for some reason I have this expectation1:00:35that if it's marketing I have to be the1:00:38best. If it's this I have to be the1:00:39best. If it's delivery in terms of like1:00:42ads I have to be the best. And if I'm1:00:44not that then I get pissed. And then1:00:46when I get pissed then I have to spin a1:00:49narrative to protect myself at times.1:00:50And this is something I still struggle1:00:52with where it's like I'm getting mad and1:00:54then no one else is getting mad and but1:00:57I feel like everyone else is getting mad1:00:58and I have to plate to that so that I1:01:01feel I guess safer in that way. So I'll1:01:03be like look they're laughing. That's1:01:05what it is. He's laughing cuz he's and1:01:07then this happens and it's very negative1:01:09obviously, right? But I'll sit there and1:01:11and what I've gotten so much better at I1:01:14think is dialogue is to sit there and1:01:16and confirmation. I'll call certain1:01:18people and I'll be like, "Hey, this is1:01:20how I feel. Can you explain this to me?"1:01:23My [snorts] bad. I know I'm kind of1:01:24dumb. Like, and I'm and I'm tripping1:01:26right now. I always preface with that,1:01:27but am I tripping? And if so, is this1:01:30how you feel? And it's almost 100% of1:01:32the time always not what extreme as what1:01:34I think it is. But I have that I guess1:01:37the the the mentality is not even1:01:39perfectionism. It's the rooted in my in1:01:42my soul, in my skin, in my flesh of this1:01:44this underworld mentality of like1:01:48everybody's out to get you always.1:01:50You're constantly hiding. I was talking1:01:51to my brother about this. Bro is always1:01:53alert. There's this certain PTSD that1:01:56doesn't go away. It's it's just it's1:01:58it's difficult. And I and I hate I'll be1:02:00I hate it. I hate it because it's like,1:02:03dang, bro. Like, you're not going to get1:02:05me. It's But there's this feeling of1:02:06like be careful. you're always going to1:02:08get got. Something's going to happen.1:02:10It's never this good because every1:02:12relationship I've been in, it's never1:02:14this good. Uh uh the gang, although it1:02:17seemed powerful and it was never that1:02:19good. People switch up. You know, you1:02:21had money, it's never going to be that1:02:22good. You have, you know, homies and and1:02:25family me, it's they're going to switch1:02:26up. It's never going to be that good.1:02:27There's this it's never going to be1:02:29good. So, I guess it's the even peeling1:02:31back that layer. It's it's the release1:02:34of control in those aspects. Now1:02:36everything else I'm I'm I'm good at.1:02:37It's just this one part I feel like is1:02:40my thorn, you know. So1:02:42>> that's interesting and that's so crazy1:02:43and it's true and I agree with you and I1:02:46feel the same way but for other reasons.1:02:47It's like we come from different1:02:49backgrounds but almost land on the same1:02:51perfectionist reality because it's1:02:52because we have preconceived1:02:54expectations of ourselves. But it's like1:02:57yeah like I'll come from a background1:02:58where1:02:59>> it was not a lot of struggle. It was not1:03:00a lot of hardship. But I was always1:03:02expected the most out of you have to be1:03:04perfect. you're going to be amazing,1:03:05your life's going to be great. And so1:03:07every time it falls short of that, I'm1:03:08like,1:03:09>> it's difficult1:03:09>> behind on the expectation. But1:03:11>> so it's like, so why for you can you1:03:14know and explain to a group of people1:03:15and just for all of us, how can we why1:03:17can we know that it comes from things1:03:19like expectations and struggle and then1:03:21still in our everyday life, we just like1:03:23can't apply. It's it's hard to remember1:03:25or lock that in1:03:26>> because of dependence. So, I've learned1:03:28that's one thing I I wanted to finish on1:03:31was I learned that there are certain1:03:34struggles that you may not overcome1:03:37honestly. And because of that, that's1:03:40actually a good thing in that it1:03:43literally leads you back to God. You1:03:45know how many times I've prayed about1:03:46this? Like this one heart, it's been 101:03:49years. 10 years I've been praying for1:03:51this struggle to like go away, right? It1:03:54was like Lord that that is my thorn to1:03:57be like stop having negative thoughts1:04:00and then taking them so heightened stop1:04:04it's impossible like it's just1:04:05impossible in terms of like like I know1:04:08now why it's not possible not because1:04:11it's impossible God's not working it's1:04:12more of like oh this is why I'm in front1:04:15of you though1:04:16>> like that's the one thing that humbles1:04:19me when I sit there and I'm preaching in1:04:21front of a lot of people trust me my1:04:23heart wants to get big. When I'm walking1:04:25through the Low Rider show and we can't1:04:27even get to our freaking position1:04:28because we're getting mobbed literally1:04:30like streamer status and there's a heart1:04:33that wants to go, "Yeah, but there's1:04:35always in the back of my mind." Yeah,1:04:37bro. But remember, Johnny, whenever like1:04:39your struggle is you can't even, you're1:04:42thinking like everyone's out to get you1:04:44anyways and you haven't overcame that.1:04:46So, it's not even in a condemning way1:04:48though. It's a level setting way for me.1:04:50like it humbles me to the point where1:04:52it's like, "Dang, God, you're right.1:04:54Thank you." And then for some reason,1:04:56gratitude bleeds from that. So, right1:04:58there, my brother, right, he was like1:05:00kind of mad because people were pushing1:05:02like pushing pushing up on us and I1:05:04could see it. I could sense my brother1:05:06was like, "Johnny, go in front." Like1:05:07he's like talking very like, "Bro, I I1:05:09watch your six." And I'm like, "Bro,1:05:10we're not in the freaking army, bro.1:05:12Relax." You know, but he's just like,1:05:13"Move forward, bro. I got to protect you1:05:15and I and I looked at them, but I could1:05:17see it was because people were coming up1:05:19to me very active. In that scene, there1:05:21are people who are still gang related1:05:23and active. And so when they come up to1:05:25me, they're like this close and like,1:05:26"Hey, homie, I respect you." Like1:05:28they're very like, you know, it it's and1:05:30it it doesn't My brother gets PTSD cuz1:05:32he's like, "If you respect them, why you1:05:33coming up to them like that?" Right?1:05:35We're the way we carry ourselves1:05:37honestly is very like real nonchalant1:05:39and like, "Hey man, appreciate you.1:05:40Thank you, man. Thank you, good sir." We1:05:42use sir, we use, you know, boss. We like1:05:44we don't sit there and be like, "Hey,1:05:45homie, we like we don't talk like that."1:05:47And so, you know, it's very he took it1:05:49as a sign of dis which it wasn't, but1:05:52he's sitting there and he's just like1:05:54struggling with this idea of like, "Bro,1:05:57what the hell?" And so immediately I sit1:05:59there and I tell my brother James, "Look1:06:01at where we're at." That's all I said to1:06:03him. Look at where we're at, bro. And1:06:05it's okay to feel disrespected. It's1:06:07okay cuz I can't tell you how to feel1:06:08disrespected. And he's like, "Okay." And1:06:10I said, "I know, but you don't have to1:06:11be on high alert. And even if you are,1:06:13look at where we're at. People are1:06:15coming up to us. Why? They're saying1:06:17they could easily be jumping us right1:06:18now. I straight up told him and he's1:06:20like, "Dang, that's true." But instead,1:06:22what are they saying, "Hey, I respect1:06:23you." Even though they're hardened, you1:06:25can't expect like a apple to to be a1:06:27mango, right? That's how they are. They1:06:29come from the streets and they're a1:06:30little bit rigid and they're a little1:06:31bit rough, but that doesn't mean that1:06:33their heart posture isn't correct and1:06:34isn't aligned, you know? So, he's like,1:06:36"Oh, that's true." And so, he kind of1:06:38tapered off. And then how this ties into1:06:40me being humble is I sit there and I'm1:06:42like whoa. Like I'm not even supposed to1:06:45receive. Like even though I told him1:06:47that, it was almost like I was preaching1:06:48to myself because I'm like1:06:50>> these people could be messing with they1:06:52could be like a lot of these people are1:06:54enemies. Like honestly, we went through1:06:56an era where there was a silent war1:06:57between the Asians and and the and the1:06:59others, right? And the other, you know,1:07:00Hispanics. And I'm just like, the fact1:07:03that I'm here, they're lining up. And1:07:07I'm still very flawed in my1:07:10perfectionism, very flawed in my1:07:12mentality, is the same reason why I1:07:14connect with them. And also, even though1:07:16I didn't overcome it, they're still here1:07:18to like show me all this love. So I'm1:07:20like, dang, God, I don't have to be1:07:23completely fixed. Like, I can also still1:07:26be me and people will come to me and go,1:07:28hey, I relate to you because of that.1:07:30You're not this suited and booted pastor1:07:32100%. You're not even dressed like one.1:07:34Some people come up to me were straight1:07:35up. You guys seen it was like you're a1:07:37pastor. You're a pastor. Like they're1:07:39like straight up, right? Who are you1:07:40again? I know you go on TikTok, but who1:07:42are you? Yeah, I'm a pastor. Wait,1:07:44you're a pastor? Like you don't do like1:07:46dances and you don't rap? And I'm like,1:07:48I look like a dancer and a rapper. It's1:07:50crazy, you know. [laughter] But1:07:51>> that's actually not a crazy assumption,1:07:53but1:07:53>> Oh, it's not. Okay. Yeah. Hey guys,1:07:55>> you don't look like a pastor.1:07:56>> Number one op. Top op right here.1:07:58[laughter]1:07:59always keep me humble.1:08:00>> You're like, that's crazy. How dare you1:08:02assume that I'm a rapper or a dancer?1:08:05>> I don't look like a chef. [laughter]1:08:08>> Yeah. Can Why can't I look like a chef?1:08:10Chefs look tatted and stuff. But1:08:11anyways, so through that I I guess long1:08:15story short, right, is to say I1:08:17understand now why in 2 Corinthians1:08:19chapter 12, Paul's like, I boast in my1:08:20iniquities. I, you know, I'm I'm I'm1:08:23when I am weak, then I am strong. He had1:08:25the same heart that I had where it was1:08:27like, I have a thorn. I want to get rid1:08:30of it. It's not getting I I I just1:08:33can't. And yet, he did tremendous1:08:35miraculous things. He wrote so many1:08:38books of the Bible. And he was talking1:08:40about how he hates doing certain things1:08:42but keeps on doing it. Loves certain1:08:44things and doesn't do it. And so, he was1:08:46able to have this. And I could really1:08:49almost feel like not favored like like1:08:52that but special like dang God I I think1:08:55this is what Paul felt. I don't know but1:08:57you can show me if that's true or not1:08:58but I feel like that's how Paul felt1:09:00where like he wasn't able to get1:09:02higharted. Every single thing when I see1:09:05him writing in 1 Corinthians 15:9 where1:09:07he's like I'm the least of the apostles1:09:09in Ephesians where he's like I I'm1:09:11literally nothing. I suck. I'm stupid.1:09:13There's parts where he apologizes. I'm1:09:16just like, dude, that's what I'm always1:09:17doing. I'm always like, damn, I suck,1:09:19man. Like, I'm dumb. You know, if you1:09:21love biblical lessons like this, then1:09:23you would love my weekly Bible class.1:09:25Bible class brings clarity, community,1:09:27and consistency. There are a lot of us1:09:29who read the Bible, but we don't know1:09:30how to apply that to our lives.1:09:32Consistency also, a lot of you guys want1:09:34to read the Bible, and you don't know1:09:36where to start, how to start, and1:09:37therefore it kind of discourages you1:09:39guys to read the Bible. And1:09:51after the Bible class, we also do a1:09:53group mentor session where it's you can1:09:55ask me customized questions and anything1:09:58about the class and anything about your1:10:00own life. See you guys this1:10:08Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard1:10:11Time. But then there's parts where I do1:10:13get frustrated with that. Like why am I1:10:15like that? Why when es especially when I1:10:18get to the why? Especially like Aaron1:10:20said when I have that expectation of man1:10:22it's been 10 years bro. Hello. Like why1:10:24you still kind of struggle with this?1:10:26Now I don't struggle with it as much. I1:10:28can give credit to that cuz I'm a real1:10:30person. I'll be raw. I don't struggle1:10:32with that how I used to. When I used to1:10:33struggle like that it would spiral too1:10:35much and I would literally run away.1:10:37Right. So the thoughts of running away1:10:39still come. Yes. But I don't do it. And1:10:41then I always talk and I before I1:10:43wouldn't even talk. I would sit there1:10:45and be like, "You guys need to diagnose1:10:47it." Like you need to be able to see it.1:10:49Which I which is why I appreciate pastor1:10:51so much. I appreciate him because he1:10:53would see it just like I saw my brother.1:10:55And he my brother wasn't saying1:10:56anything. He didn't really have a mug or1:10:58anything, but I could just sense it off1:10:59of him. Pastor would see that and go,1:11:01"Johnny, come into the office. Let's1:11:03talk." And I really appreciate him for1:11:04that because I I think I would have ran1:11:06away a lot more and stayed away a lot1:11:08more had he had not seen that. And many1:11:10times there's also where Satan tricks me1:11:13with that, you know, like is what1:11:15happens if Pastor Kim passes away, you1:11:17know, no one really understands you like1:11:19that, Johnny. Like no one's going to1:11:20understand you, you know, and so it's1:11:22kind of like again like God is going to1:11:24but God understands and God will send1:11:26and he sent people like Pastor John,1:11:28Pastor Han, and all these other people1:11:29to be like, you know, to to get it. So1:11:32again, it's it's it's I guess you could1:11:35say it's a double-edged sword1:11:37>> and that it keeps me grounded, [snorts]1:11:40but I don't like it and I'm not going to1:11:42like it. And I've accepted that, too.1:11:44That for some reason there's an1:11:45expectation that I have to like it. Like1:11:47who likes it? Wow, this feels so good to1:11:49struggle. Like no one's going to do1:11:50that. But I had that expectation too.1:11:52It's you're 10 years in. You you better1:11:54you better love your struggle and you1:11:57man, you got to get better. What's1:11:58what's going on? Like but that's not1:12:00true. And I once I accepted myself, I1:12:03think nowadays it's just not as bad.1:12:05Like it's just not as bad.1:12:07>> That's crazy. And so so what do you do1:12:10now? You're saying, "Oh, I've just1:12:12accepted it."1:12:13>> So you're not praying to God to remove1:12:16these things from you, but what are you1:12:17praying just for alignment with it at1:12:19this point?1:12:20>> Yeah. So all prayer is for alignment,1:12:22but yes, I'm always like, "Hey God, here1:12:24it goes again." And whatever lesson that1:12:26you want to teach me through this,1:12:28whatever it is, like I'm not gonna1:12:30figure it out anymore.1:12:32>> So, I've told people who struggle with1:12:34this, a lot of people do, don't try to1:12:35figure it out. Let yourself process1:12:37those things.1:12:39>> Like, I used to think that a lot too.1:12:40Like, man, man, they're thinking like1:12:42that, man. What the heck? Like, f them,1:12:43you know? And sometimes I would even1:12:45talk to them and it would be true what I1:12:47was thinking. So, that's the difficult1:12:48part is like when you're thinking1:12:50something and they actually confirm it,1:12:52whether inadvertently or like1:12:53intentionally, right? They're not trying1:12:55to, but they confirm it. Then you're1:12:56like in a crazy spiral after that1:12:58because you're like, I knew it. And it's1:12:59very difficult to not trust yourself1:13:02after that, right? This this concept1:13:03that we teach. And so,1:13:06>> um, it happens where people close1:13:08people's hearts without even realizing1:13:09it. So, for me, I've learned if my heart1:13:12closes, just let it close. If, if I'm1:13:15getting mad, I just have to get mad. If1:13:17I get frustrated, I'm just going to be1:13:20frustrated. And if people think I'm1:13:22stupid, then okay. Like I can't help it.1:13:24Like I don't want them to think I'm1:13:26stupid. I don't want them to. Like I try1:13:27my best, but like if people don't like1:13:29me, then they don't like me then. And if1:13:31I'm sensitive, then I'm sensitive then.1:13:33And that's something that would never1:13:34come out of my mouth. I was a gang1:13:36member honestly. Like I didn't I didn't1:13:38being sensitive is not it. It's1:13:40weakness. But I learned like okay. And1:13:42then it's harder when other people are1:13:45not sensitive then they can't understand1:13:47you, right? And so that's very difficult1:13:48too. But I think God has also made me1:13:51overcome that too to be like it's okay.1:13:54Like they're they are better than you,1:13:55Johnny. And that that's the one thing is1:13:58I have to tell myself like you're here1:14:00because people are better than you. And1:14:03what's wrong with someone being better1:14:04than you? What's wrong with someone1:14:06being more leveled up than you? What's1:14:08wrong with someone being not as1:14:09sensitive as you and has the right, you1:14:11know, like emotional intelligence better1:14:13than you? There's nothing wrong with1:14:15that. The only thing that's wrong is1:14:16that you think it's wrong. The only1:14:18thing that's wrong is you have an1:14:19expectation that it shouldn't be like1:14:21that.1:14:21>> And that's the real issue. It's so paper1:14:24thin when you think about it in that1:14:25way.1:14:26>> No. And and I agree with it. I agree1:14:28with it. And it's just like why?1:14:31>> And I'm sure a lot of people think this.1:14:33Why would I expect to be the best at1:14:37these things?1:14:38>> I think you're fed by the world.1:14:39>> Why would I expect to be the smartest1:14:42person ever orin like1:14:45>> why would I think that ever? And it1:14:46comes up in certain things in my life1:14:48where I just1:14:49>> extremely low IQ.1:14:50>> Shut up, Jeremy.1:14:51>> Giving him the right answer. [laughter]1:14:53He's literally asking why. He's begging1:14:54why. And I just told him, "You're1:14:56>> But I'm like in my mind, I'm like I'm1:14:58like whatever the special combination is1:15:00of like brains and intelligence or1:15:03problem solving, [clears throat] like1:15:04whatever it is, I'm just the best at1:15:06whatever I am." And I'm just like, why1:15:07does that have to be true? It doesn't1:15:09have to be true. I don't There can be1:15:11someone that exists1:15:13>> that can put the pieces better than me1:15:15together. Oh, true.1:15:16>> And I don't know why that's like1:15:18>> hard to accept. But not only hard to1:15:19accept, why would I even think that in1:15:21the first place? What would cause me to1:15:23think that I'm the best at anything?1:15:25>> I had to learn that with you guys. I I I1:15:27think both of you guys like I made me1:15:29feel like, dang, I like I I'm I'm behind1:15:32on certain things, right? Blind spots.1:15:34And I had1:15:35>> I just learned how to tie a shoes.1:15:36>> I [laughter]1:15:38loop swoop and you pull. But I genuinely1:15:41was like, man, I have to I had to learn1:15:44that and be like humble down on certain1:15:46things, you know, like I I would always1:15:48be like in the beginning, I think there1:15:50was that heart of like, why am I I'll1:15:52just clip it myself. Like, you know,1:15:54Jeremy's like the point is Johnny to get1:15:56you out of this so you can do way more1:15:58greater things. You're over here1:15:59clipping things. I'll have Premiere Pro,1:16:01too. Like, it's like duh, but you won't1:16:03be able to do other things. you know,1:16:05like Kanye was able to, you know, build1:16:08and and scale because he wasn't1:16:10engineering and producing every single1:16:12beat. Like he's he he was able to like1:16:14grow out of it, you know, and I was1:16:15like, man, that's so freaking true. And1:16:17Aaron said that. So again, this mindset1:16:20of like, yeah, I I have to like accept1:16:24and I don't have to be what I think I1:16:26need to be. Like I don't have to be what1:16:28I think I have to be. It's kind of1:16:30crazy, right? It really is just the1:16:32thought process and expectations. I1:16:34don't have to be what I think I have to1:16:35be. It's like that's so deep and so1:16:38true. And why do we even think that we1:16:40have to be that in the first place? I1:16:41don't know. It's some ingrained1:16:43something in the past1:16:44>> because of the world you said.1:16:45>> No. Yeah. I think it's absolutely the1:16:46world. It's like yourself.1:16:48>> But not even that. It's like you1:16:49[clears throat] walk out and like you1:16:52remember playing handball and there's1:16:54just that one kid who's like so good at1:16:56handball or so good at every sport and1:16:57I'm just like I just suck at every sport1:16:59cuz my Asian parents won't sign me up1:17:01for the league. I [laughter] don't get1:17:03private lessons like that. I just suck.1:17:05You know what I'm saying? And then1:17:06everybody's like friendlier to that kid1:17:08because he's good at this. They want him1:17:09on the team. You know what I'm saying?1:17:11And then in P, they're not throwing1:17:12their hands up at at at him. They're1:17:14throwing their hands up at you, which1:17:15makes you feel bad. So it's like your1:17:17environment from a young age, you're1:17:18just like1:17:20>> people get lauded for being good at1:17:22certain things. It's just a natural1:17:23thing. So you're like, "Oh, okay.1:17:25>> Being good at something gets f gets me1:17:28favor or whatever it is." And1:17:30>> I was terrible at all that. So I had to1:17:31jester max, [laughter]1:17:33>> you know. So it's like you get attention1:17:34in other ways. You are you you act out1:17:37or you do violent things to take away1:17:40happiness from others or you [laughter]1:17:43>> Oh, so I get why like I get why you1:17:47would think that to be the best is1:17:49important,1:17:50>> but why would I come from somewhere who1:17:52I already think I'm the best at certain1:17:53things? Obviously, it's from my parents1:17:55saying you are the best. You can do1:17:56whatever you want and stuff like that.1:17:58>> I think because you've also had1:17:59successes in your life. Like let's say1:18:00for example like you get math problems1:18:04way faster than everyone else and then1:18:06you probably realized wait1:18:08>> I'm actually better at this than1:18:10everybody else. So then when you think1:18:12okay not only that I'm not like a weird1:18:14like engineer nerd who can't socialize.1:18:17I also DJed and blew up and like cracked1:18:20the internet. It's like1:18:21>> I have all these skills that I'm clearly1:18:23better at than everyone else and I and1:18:25when I watch other people that are doing1:18:27it, I know I'm better than them. You1:18:28know what I'm saying? It's a natural1:18:29thing that seeps in.1:18:31>> Like1:18:31>> it's also biblically too like it's just1:18:33encoded in our DNA, right? Like we have1:18:36the fruit of the knowledge of good and1:18:38evil. So like we know like what's good1:18:40and we know what's evil. And so we1:18:43obviously tend to lean on the heavier1:18:46side of good. And so being good in this1:18:49world is like doing better, being elite,1:18:52you know, being well respected. And so1:18:54it's also just part of us, bro. Like1:18:57even little kids are like like I see1:18:59when Isaiah was young, they gave him a1:19:01little like button up, you know, and he1:19:04couldn't button it up and he was going1:19:05crazy and he was like [screaming] like1:19:08>> I got to meet this baby Isaiah.1:19:10>> Bro, Isaiah is so freaking cute. But he1:19:12and we were like I just look I was1:19:15observing him and I was like even at1:19:17that young age like 3 4 years old, bro1:19:20is like no I need to get it right. It's1:19:22It's so crazy. Like where does he even1:19:24learn that concept of like be better,1:19:26right? He's not even in pres. He's not1:19:28even in kindergarten yet. And he's like1:19:30not getting influenced by anything else.1:19:32And like there was a kid who was making1:19:34fun of him like ah like you know doing1:19:37that. And then he was just like so mad1:19:39because he couldn't run as fast as the1:19:41other people. Obviously he's a kid, you1:19:43know, got little stubby legs and a big1:19:45old head. Like what do you expect? You1:19:47know,1:19:47>> he's going to watch this later and be1:19:48like, "Johnny just like that guy just1:19:50always made fun of me."1:19:51>> No, he Isaiah knows how much I love him.1:19:53But he would like not run fast and he1:19:56had his little like Crocs and stuff and1:19:58then they he he had him in sports mode.1:20:00It was hilarious, bro. He's trying to1:20:02like run and the other kids were just1:20:04laughing at him. Jordan was laughing at1:20:06him, I remember. And he was pissed and I1:20:09was like, "Where is that competitive1:20:11nature coming from?" It is competitive1:20:12nature. It's in our nature. It's why1:20:14it's called the competitive nature, you1:20:16know? And so yeah.1:20:17>> Yeah. Did that help you with anything?1:20:19>> Yeah. I just just a good conversation.1:20:21>> But do you but do you also think about1:20:23though that like you are maybe like good1:20:26at things or you're like nah I should1:20:27have been a 10 millionaire by now.1:20:29>> Well that's the other thing. That's the1:20:31other equation is the money. It's like1:20:32okay I can trick myself into thinking oh1:20:35I'm the best at this. Like and and tell1:20:37me if you were late or not but it's like1:20:38oh like when we're even trying to hire1:20:40people it's like oh these people are an1:20:42anomalies. We're never going to find1:20:43people exactly like us X Y and Z. But1:20:45it's like1:20:46>> they have to exist out there because1:20:48someone's done things before. It's like1:20:50I'll1:20:50>> because I exist. [laughter]1:20:53>> Yeah. Right.1:20:54>> No, I'll take the ultimate example of1:20:56what I used to think about back in the1:20:57day is the company that we met at. I'm1:20:59not going to say the name, but the1:21:00company where we met1:21:00>> Oh, yeah. Don't give him any free clout.1:21:03>> I'm just saying that owner and creator1:21:05and CEO who is younger than us both.1:21:08>> Yeah. Oh,1:21:09>> bagged out.1:21:10>> Yes. And I always just thought like, is1:21:13he smarter than me? Did he just connect1:21:16the dots harder? No. Because you have a1:21:19conversation with him and you realize1:21:20yes and no. But it's like was it t it's1:21:23timing. It's luck. It's it's if you're1:21:24even brazen enough to do things like1:21:26when Johnny's like, "Oh, how do I read1:21:28the Bible like you?" It's like, uh, read1:21:30it 26 times for the next 10 years. Go to1:21:32seminary school for 56 weeks. Visit1:21:34Israel, study with habitic rabbis. It's1:21:36like1:21:36>> you would have to be a psychopath to1:21:39even want to go do the things to reach1:21:42that level. It's like I don't even1:21:43recommend it cuz you'd have to be crazy1:21:45to do it.1:21:46>> But it's like um1:21:47>> when I look at that stuff I'm like how1:21:50>> how why why could I not have done that1:21:52or like and or just like how does how1:21:55did he position himself in that way?1:21:57>> And it just makes you think. It's just1:21:59like, yeah, I'm not the smartest person1:22:01ever, or am I or it's just this loop of1:22:04why would I expect to be? I think it's1:22:07like I'd felt that way a lot of times,1:22:09too, because when I was trying to get a1:22:10job in the music industry, I couldn't1:22:12get a basic job.1:22:14>> And then I had friends that were getting1:22:16hired at Apple Music and Spotify and1:22:18this big management company. I'm like,1:22:20I'm better at this than you.1:22:22>> You're I I know I'm better than this1:22:24than you. And then to the point where1:22:26when I finally was doing things that1:22:28could prove that I was better, it was1:22:29like it was like a weird it's like but1:22:31then I also realized I'm like it it has1:22:34nothing to do it's with skill1:22:36necessarily. It's just right place right1:22:38time1:22:38>> a lot of times. So that1:22:39>> which is grace1:22:41>> literally though. Literally.1:22:43>> But real quick on that one particular1:22:45person, I'm like autistic person good at1:22:47one skill, hit it at the right place,1:22:49right time, and was able to double in on1:22:50it because1:22:51>> [laughter]1:22:51>> ultimately because because what it could1:22:53have been.1:22:55>> No, no, no. Hey, hey, because what it1:22:56could have been1:22:57>> Maybe it was also like a good idea he1:22:58had. [laughter]1:22:59>> No, no. Yes. Yes. Autistic person. Right1:23:01idea, right place. But but there was so1:23:04many things that he was missing that1:23:06could have made it a household name that1:23:08it would still exist to this day. There1:23:10was a lot of things. There's always1:23:11holes with1:23:12>> Yeah, there was always holes. So, so1:23:13it's like as much as it's1:23:15>> You could say that about everybody1:23:16though, Jerome. Even us, we have things1:23:18that we could do better like, right? I1:23:21mean, no.1:23:22>> Yeah.1:23:22>> Yes.1:23:23>> To a to a degree because but there's1:23:25also part of me where I'm like, you're1:23:27not going to you're you're not going to1:23:29have the life experience that Johnny1:23:31when people go, I could preach like him.1:23:32It's like, can you can you really1:23:33understand? Because it's not about the1:23:35preaching. It's understanding the heart.1:23:36And and that's what really people1:23:38connect the message to. Mhm.1:23:39>> It's like, yeah, you probably maybe you1:23:41know the Bible better than Johnny. You1:23:42have more Bible verses memorized. Maybe1:23:45uh yeah, you can argue better and debate1:23:47better and all those things, but like1:23:49can you understand the heart? And it's1:23:50like you probably can't because you1:23:52didn't grow up in the projects. You1:23:54didn't go to prison for 12 years. You1:23:56haven't done heinous things to make you1:23:58reflect on things later in your life.1:24:00You didn't scrub toilets. You didn't,1:24:02you know, all those things. And so1:24:04there's part of me where it's like1:24:05there's there's parts of this that are1:24:07unreplic1:24:09>> replicable.1:24:09>> Yeah. You can't do it1:24:11>> no matter how hard you try and how good1:24:13you think you are. And again, it goes1:24:14back to that thing you just said, the1:24:16word grace.1:24:17>> Yeah.1:24:18>> It really is time.1:24:19>> It's grace. It's like we're truly Dude,1:24:20I also think about it. This is this1:24:22whole situation of like if I went into1:24:24very every little detail of how my life1:24:27ended up, there's parts of me where I'm1:24:29like I put in the hours. I learned1:24:31marketing. I had this. But at the end of1:24:32the day, I happen to be at this company1:24:34where I learn from these particular1:24:36people. Then I happen to get burnt out1:24:38and go to this other company where I1:24:40meet him. Then I happen to decide to do1:24:42it's like that is1:24:44>> how it all lined up is grace. At the end1:24:46of the day, I'm like, dang, I was just1:24:48positioned to where I learned all these1:24:49skills. Then I was got the opportunity1:24:51to like learn it myself and then I got1:24:52to learn all these other mistakes of1:24:54business building to then where I got to1:24:56like hold on to these relationships that1:24:58all came into Justin, you whatever these1:25:01people all came at different times in my1:25:03life and I was suddenly1:25:05>> I thought nectar was that I'm like yo1:25:07>> all the forces coming together and then1:25:09instead it's this and it's like I dude I1:25:12never wanted to I I hated Christianity.1:25:14I thought it was lame. I my dad is a1:25:16pastor. I grew up with it. I never1:25:18believed in God. Like there's none of it1:25:22makes sense. And I'm like and then I I1:25:24think about today I'm like1:25:25>> dude there was very I was in very1:25:28precarious financial situations in my1:25:30entire life. I've never had like a1:25:32savings account1:25:33>> and and even in the direction of how1:25:36we're able to support this business and1:25:38support 33 employees.1:25:40>> Crazy.1:25:40>> I'm just like this makes no sense. And1:25:42how fast it grew. It makes no sense. And1:25:45I could be like, "Yep, we're the best1:25:46marketers and we have all these amazing1:25:48people and like we work really hard."1:25:49It's like, sure, but but it's also just1:25:52like,1:25:53>> yeah,1:25:54>> dude, like who who thought Christianity1:25:56would ever reach this level where it's1:25:58suddenly cool? Who thought that crazy?1:26:01>> Like,1:26:02>> and then it's also all the skills that1:26:04we've learned up until this point,1:26:06anytime there's a shift, it's like1:26:08>> we kind of know the answer to. And I'm1:26:09like only because we made we went1:26:12through so much pain and so many painful1:26:13experiences prior where I'm like okay we1:26:15have a good sense1:26:16>> all you know I think what the most1:26:18miraculous thing out of all of this too1:26:21and I'm glad we don't struggle with is1:26:24there's not this heart of like I did1:26:26this like you could easily given your1:26:29standard and Aaron too could be like I1:26:32made you guys blow up I like there1:26:34there's never that heart it's not like I1:26:36I learned all this and and like this is1:26:38the reason why like we're here or I even1:26:41with me it's not like oh cuz I gave you1:26:43guys all full creative control and like1:26:46d you could do whatever you want. It's1:26:47never that that in itself is grace.1:26:50There's a lot of people who are like1:26:52artists I work with1:26:53>> bro go ahead. Yeah. You were saying1:26:56>> truth is always in the middle. The1:26:57artist perspective might be different.1:26:58Who knows? I wasn't like I was grinding1:27:00my own grind. You know what I'm saying?1:27:02So I feel a certain way. But I also1:27:04worked at a label where it was hundreds1:27:06of artists that would come through. I1:27:07wasn't the direct managers, but it was1:27:09always this point where they would get1:27:11to a certain size. I saw it when artists1:27:13were making $10 million a year or they1:27:15went from their bedroom and they had1:27:16their first viral hit on said label and1:27:18they're making $5,000 a month. Nothing1:27:21crazy.1:27:22>> And it's this heart of1:27:24>> oh, I should be bigger or their1:27:25expectation. First it was like, yo,1:27:27thank you so much for posting my song1:27:28and pushing it to, yo, like why didn't1:27:31this person respond to my email in a1:27:32certain time and and like why isn't my1:27:34budget bigger and why aren't you guys1:27:36giving me this attention? Like why is1:27:37that song getting this place? And I'm1:27:38like whoa.1:27:39>> Yeah.1:27:40>> You're in you're nobody.1:27:41>> Yeah.1:27:42>> Like you're nobody.1:27:43>> And and it's like it's just a it's just1:27:46a and it all boils down to1:27:48>> expectation.1:27:49>> Expectation.1:27:50>> Yeah. And also like I said seeing if the1:27:52way you said it is so you're nobody.1:27:55That's literally what we teach. It's1:27:57like we really are. Imagine if they had1:27:59that heart. If they still maintain that1:28:00heart of I'm a nobody. Everything like1:28:03Aeron's to Aeron's point would be a1:28:04blessing. It'd be like oh wow. Okay. You1:28:06got me this thing. Oh, I'm doing a show1:28:08now for 10,000 a show. Wow, that's1:28:09amazing. Like, wait, but why is he doing1:28:1110,000 versus like why is he doing1:28:1210,000 and I'm you know I'm only getting1:28:143,000. Like what the hell? Like 3,000 is1:28:16still legit. Like1:28:17>> I have a1:28:18>> crazy story. I'm going to use broad1:28:20names so that it just like it's hard to1:28:22track. But1:28:23>> but1:28:24>> don't get us cancelled.1:28:25>> I know we're starting beef.1:28:26>> Yeah. No, no, it's no beef. They can1:28:28call me whatever. They can catch these1:28:30hands. I put my bled for that for for1:28:33those people. But there was uh in in one1:28:37of my music jobs and I had like three or1:28:39four in one of my music jobs there was a1:28:40particular artist that uh they worked1:28:43really hard and they made a really good1:28:44body of work and it got the attention1:28:46where they were able to go on tour with1:28:48a significant well this artist was also1:28:50was bit way bigger but still small but1:28:55you knew that trajectory and this artist1:28:58[snorts]1:28:59>> got put on by the person I was working1:29:01with and was like yo I want to bring him1:29:03on the road whatever it Yeah,1:29:05>> he had a full tour to build a1:29:07relationship with this person who wanted1:29:09to put him on.1:29:10>> And I remember there was this one1:29:11conversation. I was like, "Oh, yo, how's1:29:13it going?" And he's like, "It's good."1:29:14But it's like, "Yo, like I don't think1:29:16his show is that good."1:29:18>> And I was like,1:29:18>> "The one he put on."1:29:20>> Yeah. The the smaller artist.1:29:22>> Oh. Is saying he his show is not that1:29:24good.1:29:24>> Yeah. The one he got he was to the he1:29:26was like, "Yo, I've been watching the1:29:27show and I don't think the show is that1:29:28good." And it and it kind of like I was1:29:30just like,1:29:31>> "Dude, this is your first tour. Like1:29:32your show's not that good." But I was1:29:34[laughter] just like and I'm like this1:29:35guy's like like this [clears throat]1:29:37like this is the craziest opportunity.1:29:38This is like1:29:39>> this could this is the equivalent of1:29:41like Drake picking you from your size1:29:44and what this is like Drake picking you1:29:46and this could be so fruitful to your1:29:47career.1:29:48>> Build a relationship with the guy,1:29:50>> right?1:29:50>> I was like build the rel and the guy and1:29:52the bigger artist1:29:54>> super nice wanted to like1:29:56>> they they could have made music1:29:58together. There was so many1:29:59opportunities, but his whole thing was1:30:00like1:30:02>> like I don't know how he's as big as he1:30:03is because I think my music's better and1:30:05I think that I could be a better better1:30:06performer. And then and then that bled1:30:09into that artist relationship with the1:30:11manager and the next and the the the1:30:13project died because and there was1:30:15people that was also close to him that1:30:19later I had conversations where were was1:30:22like that he then started to second1:30:24guess us the the people that were1:30:25supporting him and I was like crazy you1:30:28never you you didn't even have a you1:30:30didn't have a song that crossed1:30:32>> see that's just like a respect issue1:30:33like he had no respect for the No but He1:30:37was the if you met him1:30:40>> super super um like the kindest kid1:30:43ever.1:30:44>> You would1:30:44>> the smaller artist1:30:45>> smaller super kind super fun to get it1:30:48but somewhere along the way in his brain1:30:49or all along inside all along in his1:30:51head he was like1:30:53>> it was that thing I should be bigger1:30:55than everybody. I know I'm smarter. I1:30:56know that everyone likes me. I know that1:30:57I'm good-looking. I know that and it's1:30:59like I should be that. Why am I not1:31:01that? I'm going to be that.1:31:02>> That's how people fumble everything. But1:31:05yeah, it's that feeling that he thought1:31:06he was the best and he just probably1:31:10just didn't have respect for the old the1:31:12bigger artist's music because if he1:31:13thought, "Oh, my music's better." It's1:31:15like, "How can you not?"1:31:15>> It was just like it was I was I when I1:31:18heard that I was like, "Huh?" And then1:31:19when it all kind of fell apart, I was it1:31:21was it was all him. I was just like,1:31:22"You I remember that distinct moment. It1:31:24was the seed that was planted and it1:31:26grew into a weed." What's crazy is like1:31:29when you share the story too, like I1:31:31think about pastors sharing stories like1:31:33this when I wasn't as leveled up as I am1:31:36now. And it was like, oh yeah, that guy1:31:38was arrogant. But I didn't have the1:31:40heart of like I'll be like that. And I1:31:42felt like I had to go through those1:31:44things to then learn like I almost1:31:46understand where like when I was arguing1:31:48and debating and doing apologetic stuff1:31:50that I was like, "Oh, that's what it1:31:53is." is like cuz every time a pastor1:31:54would open his mouth,1:31:56>> pastor would tell me these like stories1:31:58like yours and I'm like, "Oh, they're so1:32:00dumb. Why would they do?" But it's like1:32:01I'm not thinking it's for me. He's like1:32:04>> like he's like side busting, right? Like1:32:06letting me know, "Hey, it's you without1:32:07letting me know it's me." And I'm like,1:32:09"Yeah, what an idiot. Why would he do1:32:11that? What?" And then I would go and1:32:12then1:32:13>> I finally started to recognize like, "Oh1:32:15my gosh." So the hack here is like not1:32:18only receptive skills, but when you're1:32:20saying that, I'm like, dude, how much1:32:23more pain I would have like not gone1:32:25through if I had just taken the lessons1:32:28that you're saying and could listen to1:32:29it like how I am now just maybe six,1:32:32seven years ago, right? Like eight years1:32:34ago.1:32:35>> I I think about that. I think about1:32:37that, too. But at the same time, it's1:32:38also like1:32:39>> I had to just go through it. Like I had1:32:41to lose. Imagine if I sold Nectar and I1:32:43had like $10 million and I thought I was1:32:45doing this altruistic thing just helping1:32:46you on the side like you know what I'm1:32:48saying? It's like I had to just lose1:32:50everything to be like1:32:51>> I just had to lose1:32:53>> everything to be like dang it's not1:32:54money or none of that will make me happy1:32:57so1:32:58>> I say this all the time Jeremy you1:32:59receive a lot of grace broce1:33:02>> I got clapped1:33:03>> no but I'm saying that's grace like the1:33:06fact that bro trust me bro I know so1:33:08many people that would do half of what1:33:10you're doing and half of what Aaron is1:33:12doing and be like1:33:14>> like I'm going to do it again is like1:33:17you need me Like this heart is literally1:33:20the killer of everything. Like I don't1:33:23know how to ingrain that into like1:33:24people, but like go ahead.1:33:27>> Sorry. Oh, no. No. The hand raises1:33:29finishes. Pick me up.1:33:31>> I I genuinely like I see this in the1:33:34congregation a lot. Like I'm not trying1:33:36to call out core of the heart members,1:33:37but like when when I'm like saying1:33:40something, I have specific people where1:33:42I'm like if they listen to this, oh my1:33:45gosh, they would level up so hard. But1:33:47then like a lot of them don't, but a lot1:33:50of them do. And the ones that do will1:33:52message me and be like,1:33:53>> "Bro, I know like it made me think and1:33:56I'm like, "YEAH, YEAH,1:33:57>> YES." INSIDE. But I'm like, "Oh, really?1:34:00Really? It made you think?"1:34:01>> Dude, I'll be honest. There's lessons1:34:02for myself that you tell me things and1:34:04I'm like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah." And1:34:05then when it clicks, I'm like, "Oh my1:34:07god." [laughter]1:34:08I Okay. Okay.1:34:10>> So, you don't respect me.1:34:11>> No, no, no, not respect. I'm saying1:34:13certain lessons you teach. I'm like,1:34:14"Yeah, of course." that's like, you1:34:16know, honesty or heart posture or1:34:18whatever it is, then it's like, oh my1:34:19gosh, like I totally see it now.1:34:21>> But that's just that's just part of it.1:34:24>> Um, what about somebody like who I1:34:27believe is run purely by just because of1:34:29the way that they present themselves. A1:34:31lot of times I do believe that they're1:34:32great and they're smart people, but I1:34:33still think there's a lot of pride in1:34:34ego is like the people at the top like1:34:36the Elon Musks and the Jeff Bezos and1:34:39the Mark Zuckerbergs. Like I'm not maybe1:34:41calling them out specifically, but those1:34:42people have a lot of power, a lot of1:34:44influence. They do a lot of things to1:34:46continue to hold that power influence.1:34:48>> They're big on paper. They're1:34:49successful. Yeah.1:34:50>> And maybe to some aspect, maybe they're1:34:52happy.1:34:53>> Um why does it feel like God is allowing1:34:56that? Not maybe favoring them, but1:34:58allowing that to exist when they're not1:35:00necessarily pushing for more people to1:35:03come to the gospel.1:35:04>> Sure. I think because again, it it comes1:35:07down to grace, but also a lesson. Like1:35:10some people solely are in your lives to1:35:12teach you a lesson. If that's true, then1:35:14there's also people who are solely alive1:35:16to teach a lesson too, right? Whether1:35:18it's a good lesson or whatever. All1:35:20lessons are blessings to me. I genuinely1:35:22believe that. So, I'm I the way the1:35:25Bible explains is that they're actually1:35:27cursed. And this is no disrespect, but1:35:29like that's a curse to sit there and1:35:32never sense your creator. Like, if I1:35:36have all that money, I when I look at1:35:38it, I get fearful of that. Like that's1:35:40the one thing when I'm always praying1:35:41about now is like if we blow up to that1:35:43position where we can, you know, really1:35:45like have a compound in whatever it is1:35:47that we want. I'm like, "God, please1:35:50hold on to me." Cuz I see the the switch1:35:52up even remove God out of it. When1:35:54people touch a little bit of paper, they1:35:57really do be switching up crazy crazy.1:36:01And they turn straight up into monsters.1:36:03And of course they say that paper is you1:36:05know money and all that is just an1:36:07amplifier of things which I agree to an1:36:09extent but at the same time like like1:36:11the James was saying you know James sex1:36:13he was like1:36:14>> bro like I am I chasing this dragon now1:36:17where where just two years ago when no1:36:19one knew me I was fine. Now, when I'm1:36:21walking down the street, I got to walk a1:36:23little slower if they don't say, "Oh my1:36:25gosh, it's the America's divorce1:36:27lawyer." Right? And so, he's like, "That1:36:29even that little bit, that's not even1:36:30monetary, by the way, is getting to1:36:32their head now. Imagine if people are1:36:34like, I want you and here's money for1:36:36you and I'm putting it in your bank1:36:37account and like I'm going to change1:36:39your life because of this because you1:36:40changed my life and you're help like how1:36:42can you not get high-hearted, right? And1:36:44then everyone's going to get higharted,1:36:47but it's the heart to like have people1:36:49like the Pastor Kim in the world, like1:36:50the Pastor John's, like the, you know,1:36:52the Jeremy Kim of the world, right?1:36:54Pastor Kim, Jeremy Kim, same bloodline,1:36:56I guess, right? And to sit there and be1:36:59like1:37:00>> to to humble people down. It really is a1:37:03blessing because I've seen both sides of1:37:05it where I was super high-hearted when I1:37:08had money and I was like I treated1:37:10people like transactionally and I was1:37:12like man you ain't even on my level and1:37:14I didn't care like they could die and1:37:16I'm like so what because that's what you1:37:18get you that's what you get for being a1:37:19peasant. I made it out the hood. I made1:37:22it out the mud right and then I was cold1:37:24like that to now going dang I don't even1:37:27want that. Like I don't even want I1:37:29don't want to be like like I I want to1:37:31be Mark Zuckerberg rich. Okay. Don't1:37:33like if you guys don't love money just1:37:35donate it to us. Okay.1:37:36>> I was about to say to keep you humble,1:37:38donate it to me. We'll make sure to just1:37:39go to him to me.1:37:41>> But but I don't want the curse that1:37:44comes with it. The idea of I'm God now.1:37:47I make a snap of the finger and1:37:49everything works for me. And I don't1:37:51need to ever lean on you cuz I'm never1:37:53going to lean on you. I never have to1:37:55lean on you anymore, God. That is the1:37:57most scariest thing, bro. Is to have an1:38:01omnisient, omnipresent God who's1:38:02everywhere all the time. To then go,1:38:05"Hey, how you doing?" and just like walk1:38:06past him. I don't need you.1:38:08>> That's hella scary. That's hella scary1:38:11to me.1:38:11>> You know what's kind of crazy as you're1:38:12saying all this? It's like I still1:38:14realize in my life that I don't1:38:16>> 80 80% of the time I'm just trying to1:38:20solve the problem with my own thoughts1:38:21instead of going, "Okay, what is the1:38:23lesson here, God?" Yeah.1:38:25>> 80% of the time.1:38:26>> Yeah. That's normal and that that'll1:38:28come with time, right? You guys can't1:38:30always be like that 247. Pastor Kim said1:38:32it. You can't be spiritual 24/7 because1:38:35we have the flesh, too.1:38:37>> Can I say the funny story uh about how1:38:39you were like you're like I the gym1:38:42thing?1:38:42>> Sure.1:38:44>> So, so Aaron has just been like locked1:38:46in on the gym. Tell tell like just1:38:48>> I don't know where you're going with.1:38:49>> Oh, no. No. It was just No, it was just1:38:50funny. It was like Aaron was like uh1:38:52suddenly he's like locked in in the gym,1:38:54his diet, his sleep, he's just dialed in1:38:57every aspect and he's like it just1:38:59happened and I was just like yeah I was1:39:01just like1:39:02>> yeah you can't thank God [laughter]1:39:05like1:39:07>> he's just like it's just like I didn't1:39:08even have to struggle. He was just like1:39:10I'm just like it just been like natural1:39:11and I'm like1:39:12>> amen.1:39:13>> Which go my other question is1:39:15>> there's like you said there's some your1:39:16thorn on your side of this perfectionist1:39:18mindset. Why would God allow someone to1:39:21struggle with something that's more1:39:22negative like a drug addiction or like1:39:25severe lust versus like, oh, I'm a1:39:28perfectionist? And obviously, it's it's1:39:30>> well cuz I also struggle with all that1:39:32other stuff, right? I think this is just1:39:33the the the less of like least of it.1:39:36But I think honestly because you need1:39:39drastic change and then it takes like1:39:41drastic measures for that change. So if1:39:44God allows that to happen, that's the1:39:48thing that's going to keep people1:39:49humble. Like my mom, you know, she said1:39:51something so wild, bro, that was1:39:54difficult for me to understand. She's1:39:56like, I was so high-hearted in my life1:39:58and so good that [clears throat] God had1:40:01to do that extreme of having like a1:40:03husband like that, having two sons like1:40:05that to just humble me. Cuz she said it.1:40:09She's like, "I was a go-getter. I was a1:40:10hustler. I made money for the whole1:40:12family. There was nothing that was1:40:14telling me I'm not good, that I des I I1:40:17don't deserve the life that I have cuz1:40:18I'm I'm grinding. And so God was like,1:40:21"You think so? I'm going to have to show1:40:23you then." And she was actually thankful1:40:25that that happened. She she she straight1:40:27up said it, "Johnny, I don't think I1:40:28would ever change." He's like, "You1:40:29think you think you're stubborn like1:40:31your dad?" She's like, "You get your1:40:32stubbornness from me straight up." And I1:40:34was like, "Dang, that's crazy to like1:40:35actually hear your mom say that." Now1:40:37you guys see the ad mama chang. I do1:40:40remember glimpses of her where she's1:40:42like I don't care you could be my ass1:40:44like go ahead I'm still going to be the1:40:46and it was like dang bro and my dad1:40:48would do it and she would still be like1:40:52screaming and you know but still like1:40:53I'm going to do I'm going to stand 101:40:55toes on this so I'm dying on this hill1:40:57and if I have to die I have to die and1:40:58I've seen my dad get scared like whoa1:41:01and so there is that1:41:03there is that like self-righteousness1:41:06that needs to be broken and the only1:41:08thing that breaks that is humility is is1:41:10to have things not go your way is to1:41:12have these extremes of like man I I1:41:15can't you know like you need that1:41:16extreme you needed to burn out the way1:41:18that you did you had too much gusto bro1:41:21was like working extra hard and like1:41:23getting sick every month and was still1:41:25like I don't care I got to work it's1:41:26like I mean there has to be things like1:41:29I needed to go to prison I mean as crazy1:41:31as that sounds like I needed to sure la1:41:34dah the people that didn't go amazing1:41:36more power to and you receive grace for1:41:38that but for me. I know. I know that. I1:41:40know homies who rest in peace. Whisper,1:41:41man. That's the homie homie. Like, I1:41:43love him to death till this day. And I1:41:46remember telling him, "Hey, bro, like,1:41:48you know, I'm Christian now." And he cut1:41:50me off right away, man. Respectfully,1:41:52homie. Like, I'm Buddhist and I'm going1:41:54to be that. And he said it in Mandarin1:41:56where it was like this this heart of1:41:57like I'm very I really that means like I1:42:01really want respect and so I want you to1:42:04understand. And he knew cuz we're both1:42:06very violent people honestly. And he1:42:08that that was like a warning like hey1:42:10bro I don't want to get into it with you1:42:11but I will like it was this hard you1:42:13know and I was like all right and I said1:42:15bro I just care about you that's all.1:42:16And he's like and I and I respect that1:42:18but I don't I don't take it as you1:42:20caring about me. I take it as you1:42:21forcing me. And I was like all right and1:42:23I kind of was like all right I let it1:42:25go. And sadly after that like a year1:42:27after that he passed away. He got he got1:42:29smoked you know rest in peace. But it1:42:31makes me think like dude he had to go1:42:33through seven year his first stretch was1:42:35seven years. Second stretch was 111:42:36years. He got out and still stayed the1:42:39that same way. And God was like, you1:42:40know what? I'm gonna just I had I think1:42:42I'm gonna have to take him, you know.1:42:44And so, yeah, it was difficult.1:42:46>> How much is the other side is the devil,1:42:47too, right? It sounds It sounds kind of1:42:49crazy to say God allowed that God cuz1:42:51it's also people's free will, their1:42:53decisions. Well, well, I think I think I1:42:55think ultimately, of course, it's it's1:42:57the devil in that, you know, he had the1:42:58generational trauma and, you know, he1:43:00been through a lot and he didn't he1:43:03hardened a lot, but I also think it's1:43:05it's God is in a way was like, okay, you1:43:09know, like I I I'm not it's not like I'm1:43:11letting you go, like I'm it's not that1:43:13I'm making you die, but if you keep1:43:15walking that path, like I'm going to1:43:17honor your choice, too, you know, and1:43:19I've seen him do that to a lot of my my1:43:21my people. I've seen people who passed1:43:24away and I'm just like, why did they1:43:26pass away? And it's like, oh, there was1:43:28not there wasn't no opportunity. They1:43:30had multiple opportunities to to repent.1:43:33I before I got shot, I got shot at a1:43:36gang of times. A gang of times. Like so1:43:39many times. And I was and I I I even1:43:42instead I think about now I'm so1:43:44embarrassed to say this, but I thought1:43:46like at one point even though I was1:43:47getting blasted at, I was like, "Oh,1:43:49nothing's going to get me." Like it's1:43:50not going to get me. Like that's how1:43:52stupid I I thought I was faster than a1:43:54bullet. As dumb as I was. And then it1:43:56took that one thing, thank God I didn't1:43:58die, but it took that one thing to be1:44:00like, "Dang, I'm not bulletproof. I'm I1:44:02am I do have some fear inside of me." At1:44:05one point, I had convinced myself1:44:06completely that I had no fear whatsoever1:44:09in my I was like, "No, I don't have any1:44:11fear. Like, I'm not scared of anything."1:44:12And then obviously that happened and I1:44:14was like, "Oh my gosh, I'm feeling1:44:16myself losing consciousness. Like this1:44:17is scary." And so it takes those types1:44:20of things, whether it's an addiction,1:44:23whether it's lust, whether it's whatever1:44:24kind of oppression that you're dealing1:44:26with to then be like, "Huh, this is what1:44:29what it is that that it breaks me." And1:44:31so now I no longer the level up is I no1:44:33longer get mad at God. I used to get so1:44:35mad at God. Now it's dang God, like I'm1:44:39that hardened and I'm like and you still1:44:42love me. I'm that hardened and you you1:44:44didn't like take me. like instead you're1:44:46you're really breaking me down because1:44:48you care about me. And it just makes me1:44:51feel very1:44:53um thankful, very grateful to be like I1:44:56was worse than a lot of people1:44:58genuinely. People who have died in my1:44:59arms, people who've died next to me,1:45:02they're not even like as bad as I was. I1:45:05know a lot of people who got in a gang,1:45:07I ain't trying to diss or be1:45:08disrespectful, but they got in it1:45:10because of the clout. They got in it1:45:11because of the money. They got in it1:45:13because of the women. There wasn't1:45:15really they was gang members not gang1:45:18bangers you know and at the same time1:45:20like it's like they got taken and I'm1:45:23just like why and it was because of the1:45:25hardness maybe towards you know I want1:45:28to I want to be this more than anything1:45:30you know and for me it was more of like1:45:33I think I was just completely deceived.1:45:35I was like this is my family and I'm1:45:37willing to do x amount of time for them1:45:39and I'm willing to even lay in a coffin1:45:41for them. Uh, and and I think God,1:45:44that's why I said I think God pied me a1:45:46lot. Was like, "Dang, if I don't help1:45:48this dude, like he's a lost cause, man.1:45:50He's 100% a lost cause." I you know how1:45:53many correctional officers told me that1:45:54you're a lost cause, bro. Like, you it's1:45:57over for you, dog. Like, you know, and1:45:58I'm just like, "Dang, [clears throat] my1:46:00mom would say that to me. You're a lost1:46:02cause. You're completely there's1:46:04something wrong with you." And I'm just1:46:05like, "Shut up." Like, I get crazy. But1:46:07it's true, you know? So, yeah. And so1:46:10this wraps the end of the segment, guys.1:46:12I hope that whatever struggles you guys1:46:14are struggling with that you got at1:46:16least some kind of clarity to go to God1:46:17about it. And remember, it's all about1:46:19expectations. Nine times out of 10,1:46:20you're not really struggling with the1:46:22struggle or the situation. You're1:46:24struggling with how you want the1:46:26situation to turn out. And that's an1:46:27expectation. So it's not the situation,1:46:29it's an expectation.1:46:31>> Bars. Clock it.1:46:32>> All righty. And uh before we wrap up1:46:35this episode, I just wanted to say1:46:37Aaron, I don't know if you remember last1:46:38episode, the meme conversation,1:46:41>> remind me.1:46:42>> If you have a good friend and you send a1:46:43bunch of memes,1:46:44>> uh yes, [laughter]1:46:46>> every single person agreed that you're a1:46:48bad friend. They all Yeah, they all1:46:49commented and said, "Dude, if it's your1:46:52best friend, you should be1:46:53>> five a day."1:46:54>> That wasn't five a day. We looked at the1:46:55thing. There was a couple1:46:56>> remember it was like four or five.1:46:57>> No, I like on one day, but other than1:46:59that, it's been spaced out. They said1:47:00you're a bad friend.1:47:01>> I'm sorry.1:47:01>> I'm just I'm just kidding. They're all1:47:03like, "Yeah, they gave like reasons."1:47:04[laughter]1:47:05It's like, "Well, you said that many.1:47:08>> Our audience must be so chronically1:47:09online. I'm like, "You guys are watching1:47:11five."1:47:12>> I almost I should have just not said1:47:13anything and made you think you're a1:47:14good friend by watching every minute.1:47:16>> I was just like, "No way these people1:47:17are like that." I was about to show the1:47:19receipts of like how many unopened1:47:21things I have because I can't. I can't.1:47:24>> There's another important announcement I1:47:25want to make.1:47:26>> We're going to the Bay Area.1:47:28>> Hey.1:47:28>> Oh, is that official?1:47:30>> That's official. Hi. Are we getting1:47:32high? Uh, the date is the weekend 3:221:47:35whatever that weekend is. It's a Friday1:47:37and then the Sunday. The Friday will be1:47:39San Jose. It's not 100. It's 98.24.1:47:44>> 98.3.1:47:46>> Yeah. Yeah. 98.3%.1:47:48And uh it's going to be San Jose on a1:47:51Friday and then San Francisco on a1:47:53Sunday.1:47:55>> Yes.1:47:56>> Okay.1:47:56>> Oh, yeah. There's a hold on our1:47:57calendar.1:47:58>> Yes.1:47:58>> Oh, it's official. Yes. Official as a1:48:01whistle.1:48:02>> So, so we haven't Well, by text in the1:48:04keyword Bay Area.1:48:06>> Yes.1:48:07>> I think uh1:48:08>> No,1:48:09>> I think everyone texts in NorCal.1:48:11>> NorCal1:48:12>> and then from there you can reply with1:48:14>> Yeah, NorCalc is great.1:48:15>> I tell you all these will be all these1:48:16will be active. Jose1:48:19>> uh Bay1:48:21>> Bay1:48:21>> and then NorCal.1:48:22>> No, you do. So, sorry. You're not from1:48:24the Bay. You say Bay, that's the NorCal.1:48:27So, that's confusing. You can't call San1:48:28Francisco Bay. You have to say, just SF,1:48:31two letters, SF or SJ or San Jose.1:48:34>> We haven't fully figured it out yet. But1:48:36listen, if anyone texts in afters and1:48:39you give them your area code,1:48:41>> we know where you are and you'll get1:48:43you'll RSVP for the city.1:48:44[clears throat]1:48:44>> Hey, by the time this episode comes out,1:48:45we'll have a clear just look in the1:48:47description or on the screen. [laughter]1:48:48Text.1:48:49>> The one thing I want to say the one1:48:51thing I want to say is the beauty about1:48:52the Bay is there's San So if you look at1:48:54the map, San Francisco's here and then1:48:56it's like 45. No, it's like an hour to1:48:58San Jose. Then you have Oakland and all1:49:00these cities in between. So it'll be1:49:02like Oakland will get split. Whoever can1:49:04make which day. And then you have all1:49:06these feeder cities. Gilroy, Hayward,1:49:10like Palo Alto, San Mateo, they're all1:49:12going to come to Mountain View, all1:49:14going to come to San Jose. Then like1:49:16Milbury and Berling game and then some1:49:18of Oakland will cross the bridge to San1:49:20Francisco. like the Bay Area is is1:49:22>> is lit,1:49:23>> special because it's like1:49:26>> for you to come out there, you don't1:49:27come out there often and then there the1:49:29drive Bay Area people are willing to1:49:31drive more than any other city I've been1:49:33to. Everyone else complains, but Bay1:49:34Area people are1:49:35>> figity facts,1:49:36>> decent travelers.1:49:37>> And also, if you guys have any churches1:49:40that you are tied into that do want to1:49:43host us, we're also always open guys and1:49:46looking, right? So true. So, please text1:49:49uh host to the same number link in the1:49:52bio and um you know and and again we we1:49:55ask that you don't just recommend but1:49:57actually be part of the church have some1:49:59kind of like connection to it whether1:50:01it's your PK worship leader actual1:50:04pastor guys we will pack out your church1:50:06we will do outreach for you and um we'll1:50:10all grow the kingdom together so let's1:50:12work together guys there's no pastoral1:50:14ego here core of the heart is not better1:50:15than anybody and we're all under Jesus1:50:17So, let's work together.1:50:19>> The the last thing I want to say is1:50:21we're going to be going to these cities1:50:23that have these huge churches that like1:50:25North Carolina. We were trying to plan1:50:27all these cities like based on our1:50:28thing, but we're just going to go where1:50:30the people want us. So, if you guys want1:50:31us, we will go there. So, there's a lot1:50:34of things on the list that I was like,1:50:35"Huh, I didn't know Johnny had a bunch1:50:37of fans or people that supported in1:50:39those cities." So,1:50:41>> biggity facts.1:50:41>> Absolutely.1:50:42>> Yeah. Because when we've done the1:50:43opposite and just try to force oursel1:50:45into a city, no church picks up the1:50:46phone.1:50:47>> True. It's just it's it's interesting.1:50:49It all goes off of RSVPs. Like1:50:52>> audience, what would you guess would1:50:53have more RSVPs, Orlando or Miami?1:50:57>> Similar marketing, identical marketing.1:50:59All the exact same people are seeing the1:51:00exact same thing. Who would you think1:51:02would have more, Orlando or Miami?1:51:03>> Or more churches that would give respond1:51:05to us at least.1:51:06>> You would think both for Miami. It turns1:51:09out there was way more people and way1:51:10more churches in Orlando. So, it's just1:51:12super interesting. So, just text in and1:51:15if anyone texts in the word afters, we1:51:17know where you live. If you're watching1:51:19this and you belong to a big church, you1:51:21work at a big church, you you've seen1:51:23the videos and you're like, I want1:51:24Johnny to come to my church. It's very1:51:26possible. Text in, fill out the host1:51:28form.1:51:29>> Um, and that's where we go. That's where1:51:31we show up.1:51:32>> And then again, the number for you you1:51:34that are driving 323 613 3577 323 6131:51:39357.1:51:39>> Too fast. 3 2 3 6 1 3 3 5 seven1:51:48>> All right.1:51:49>> All right. And then sorry, we got some1:51:51more little announcements.1:51:52>> Okay.1:51:53>> Okay. Um,1:51:55>> shout out anyone who's still listening1:51:57this this long into the episode.1:51:58>> No, there's Dude, there's so many1:51:59people. Yeah, because they they realized1:52:02the mistake on the last one.1:52:04>> Yeah. And then and then the last thing I1:52:06wanted to add was um you know what's1:52:09funny?1:52:10>> Sometimes they respond to the clickbait1:52:12question that we tell them and I get1:52:13tricked by it and I read the comments.1:52:15I'm like, "What do you mean Johnny1:52:16Johnny crashed out on me? I [laughter]1:52:18don't remember that. Oh man, he's mad at1:52:19me. What did he say? I don't remember1:52:21that part of the podcast." And then I'm1:52:23like, "Oh, wait.1:52:24>> I tricked myself." You guys give me good1:52:27>> Oh, I I had one more thing to say. Let1:52:28me scrape my brain.1:52:29>> One more announcement.1:52:30>> What?1:52:31>> Announcement.1:52:32>> The announcement.1:52:33>> Mhm. Did you have another announcement?1:52:34>> Oh, yeah. Yeah, I had another1:52:35announcement. [laughter]1:52:37>> What? That's what I was saying. You were1:52:39saying announcement. I had one face,1:52:42>> bro. Literally though,1:52:43>> someone like want to get a clear shot,1:52:45>> dude. Literally, that we literally sat1:52:47there. We said it and he's like, "Oh,1:52:49yeah, that's what I said.1:52:52>> You didn't say that.1:52:52>> This guy lives 10 seconds in the past."1:52:54>> Guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, guys.1:52:57to defend myself when you have to be the1:53:00brains of the entire operation1:53:01[laughter]1:53:02and you have to put food into everyone's1:53:04mouth, hand feed each of these people.1:53:06He's wearing a helmet. He's [laughter]1:53:09he's a little, you know, drank too much1:53:11lead in prison. Lead water in prison.1:53:13Got exposed to mercury and all kinds of1:53:16heavy metals.1:53:17>> Give the damn announcement, you child.1:53:20[laughter]1:53:21the app1:53:22>> n we're take the app is coming and if1:53:26>> that's true that's true1:53:27>> when you hear this episode there's a1:53:28link that's the wait list that's the1:53:30official wait list if you're already C1:53:32member and stuff you'll get all these1:53:33announcements but join that weight list1:53:34in the email and you're going to get the1:53:35first look of the app1:53:37>> that's all I'll say1:53:38>> is so pretty let me just explain this1:53:41about the app really quickly1:53:43>> something that we talked about and you1:53:45sent an interesting LinkedIn post about1:53:47Airbnb and it just got us thinking in1:53:48all types of ways but it's something1:53:49that made really realize why the app is1:53:51so amazing and why your page is so1:53:53amazing in general and why you're so1:53:56content.1:53:56>> He couldn't give you no flowers. He said1:53:58why your page is amazing. Not even you.1:54:00>> And by the way, hey, I want to say one1:54:02thing. You were like, "Oh, like you know1:54:04if any one of us removed this if we1:54:06couldn't do it without you.1:54:08>> If we plucked you out of this operation,1:54:09then what? People were going to listen1:54:11to me and Aaron." [laughter]1:54:13>> Yeah.1:54:13>> They're going to be like, "Yes, we if1:54:15you would still listen to Aaron and1:54:16Jeremy, please comment [snorts] below.1:54:18Next week I'm gone. Next week I'm gone.1:54:20>> Yeah, if you still follow c if you would1:54:23follow core of the fart then [laughter]1:54:25>> yeah let us know if you join our other1:54:27community.1:54:29>> Oh, you forgot you were talking about uh1:54:32see how you treated1:54:33>> our page. You were saying our page and1:54:34then like contradiction1:54:35>> one thing about your page and1:54:37>> No, it's about the app.1:54:38>> Yes. why the app is so fire and why your1:54:41page is so fire and why your content is1:54:43so fire and it's going to have staying1:54:44power is because people don't need more1:54:48Christian content. They need actually1:54:51active Christian content that helps you1:54:53live your life every single day.1:54:55>> So it's not just people are constantly1:54:57looking why why do we go on our phones1:54:59for the dopamine hit? We're trying to be1:55:00happy. We're trying to learn something.1:55:01We're trying to get content information1:55:03and people think more and more and more1:55:04more equals happiness and information1:55:07but it doesn't. the content overload1:55:09actually takes away from your happiness1:55:10and information which is really really1:55:12crazy.1:55:12>> So people think oh how do I change this?1:55:14They just need more Christian content1:55:16even that's not even true.1:55:17>> You just need very targeted focused1:55:20content that actually helps you apply to1:55:21your real life and give you a real plan.1:55:24And that's how you actually find the1:55:26happiness, the the education, the things1:55:28that you were originally looking for.1:55:30>> True.1:55:31>> It's not from more content. It's from1:55:33focused content with a plan. And that's1:55:35what the app is. That's why I love the1:55:38app. Every single day, it's bite-sized,1:55:40super focused content with actionable1:55:43plans so you can get back off your phone1:55:46and go live in the real life and1:55:48actually understand, have the knowledge1:55:49and happiness you're looking for versus1:55:51constantly doom scrolling overloaded1:55:53with information. Oh, you need to be on this for1:56:06hours a day. We want your attention.1:56:08That's the game of every app, by the1:56:10way. Really appreciate you1:58:26guys. And you guys know with, you know,1:58:28Unlearned Wisdom podcast fashion, we1:58:32always end with a prayer. So, let us bow1:58:34our heads. And again, if you made it to1:58:36this far, thank you guys again.1:58:38Appreciate you guys. All righty. Thank1:58:40you, Father God. Uh truly, we appreciate1:58:43the struggles in our lives. And I hope1:58:45that anyone listening in here um and1:58:48tuning in are are able to really1:58:51overcome the struggle and gain some kind1:58:53of clarity for their struggle. Lord, a1:58:55lot of us uh realized hopefully in this1:58:58episode that our struggles come from1:59:01expectations. It's not because you cause1:59:03us to stumble or struggle. Rather,1:59:05you're giving us the building blocks to1:59:07overcome everything and to be better1:59:09people and to be happier. But there's a1:59:11flesh aspect that always wants to fight.1:59:14And we always think that things are1:59:15pointless and we feel like we struggle1:59:17for no reason. And so God, please give1:59:20the brothers and sisters the heart to1:59:21overcome this and understand that the1:59:24struggle is there for a reason and it's1:59:26to cultivate relationship. It's to1:59:28cultivate and nurture faith and to1:59:30really grow us at the end of the day.1:59:32Father God, truly we're thankful. And if1:59:35there's anyone that's struggling with1:59:36depression or loneliness or struggling1:59:38with just anything in general, Lord, I1:59:40ask that you cast all of that down in1:59:42Jesus name to be able to overcome and1:59:45have peace uh not just through prayer,1:59:47not just through supplication, but to1:59:49know that whatever the struggle is, it1:59:51does end uh in peace. It ends in1:59:54harmony. It ends in salvation, Father1:59:57God, because of Jesus Christ. There's no1:59:59amount of anything that we do or no2:00:01amount of struggle that will pluck us2:00:03away from you. And for that we're2:00:04forever thankful. Thank you, Father God.2:00:06We leave everything in your hands. And2:00:08in Jesus name we pray. Amen.2:00:10>> Amen.2:00:11>> Amen.
