0:04Even though it's been more than eight0:05months since gamers around the world0:07have been following the narrative0:08breadcrumbs of PT to speculate about the0:11events surrounding the family murders,0:12the reasons behind them, and the0:14numerous symbols and hidden messages0:16scattered around the mysterious0:17corridor, there are still many questions0:19left unanswered. Why does the0:21protagonist wake up in an empty concrete0:23room? What's the meaning of the tally0:25marks on the wall? And most importantly,0:28what is the real connection between the0:29supposedly unrelated series of family0:31sites mentioned in the radio broadcasts?0:34The day of the crime, the father went to0:36the trunk of his car, retrieved the0:38rifle, and shot his wife as she was0:40cleaning up the kitchen after lunch. A0:43lot of these unsolved mysteries are just0:45too specific and deliberate to be mere0:47red herrings. So, let me lead you0:49through an entirely new chain of0:51deduction that might shed some light on0:53this yet unsolved mystery of PT series0:55of family murders. Let's start with one0:58of the pivotal scenes, the bathroom1:00killing. We witness what seems to be the1:03brutal stabbing of a woman. Well, we1:05don't actually get to see it. We just1:06hear everything in excruciating detail.1:09But listen to the radio broadcast in the1:11background. What the narrator says. On1:14the one hand, it's a perfectly normal1:15radio commentary, but on the other hand,1:17it seems to be a subliminal instruction1:19that guides the perpetrator to his1:21actions.1:25Now's the time to do it.1:31Let me tell you about Project MK Ultra,1:34an illegal clandestine government1:36project officially launched by the CIA1:38in 1953. It was a program of medical and1:41psychiatric experiments on unwilling1:43human test subjects as well as the1:45population of the US and Canada on a1:47large scale with the intent of1:49developing procedures to be used in1:51interrogation, torture, and espionage1:53through various systems of mind control.1:55It consisted of a large number of sub1:57projects, but one better known series of1:59experiments is especially interesting in2:01the context of the events of PT. the2:03so-called sub project 68 which was led2:06by the Scottishborn psychiatrist Donald2:08Euan Cameron with one of the goals being2:10the research and development of the2:12monarch programming system a2:14traumab-based brainwashing technique2:16that based upon the research of SS2:18scientist Dr. Joseph Mangala's human2:20experiments during the2:22Holocaust. Now, the existence of these2:25experiments has not been officially2:26proven since the biggest part of MK2:28Ultra's files were destroyed by the2:30order of the former CIA director Richard2:32Helms. But there are numerous witnesses2:35who claim to have been victim to MK2:36Ultra's monarch experiments. Most2:39prominently Kathy O'Brien, who has given2:41account of her experiences in the book2:43Transformation of America. The subjects2:46of the procedure were exposed to2:48hallucinogenic drugs, most notably LSD,2:51long-term isolation and sensory2:53deprivation to create a multiple2:54personality disorder hidden inside of a2:57subject unconscious. The result is a2:59perfect sleeper cell that can be3:01remotely activated by subliminal3:03messages in radio or TV broadcasts or3:05simple telephone calls, hiding among the3:07unsuspecting population. Within the3:10scope of MK Ultra, the CIA has also3:12experimented with a wide range of3:13subliminal mind control and propaganda3:15techniques throughout the Cold War. And3:17by the way, this is no conspiracy3:19theory. There were a lot of broadcasts3:21on radio and television with hidden mind3:23control messages during the 50s and 60s,3:26officially confirmed alongside a public3:28apology by Bill Clinton in 1997. I will3:31link to a video in the description that3:33presents that in greater detail. So,3:35could the homicidal husbands actually be3:37drones of the CIA's MK Ultra program?3:40Kjima is shown to have a fascination for3:42Cold War espionage conspiracy theories.3:44Is this far-fetched, or could there be3:46something to it? Let's see if and how we3:49can tie this to the events of3:51PT. Clue number one. Subliminal messages3:55are scattered all over the game. Not3:57only in the bathroom scene, but also3:58during the reports. We hear the narrator4:01switch the tone of his voice and talk4:02directly to the protagonist. for the4:04murders. Look behind you. I said look4:10behind you like you're tending some4:12Sunday afternoon.4:14Don't touch that dial now. We're just4:17getting started. Retrieved the rifle and4:19shot his wife. The game also shows4:21messages hidden in tube TV like screen4:24distortions and words hidden in static.4:2820484:30634:3220484:36634:3720484:40[Music]4:4563 Clue number two. Cameron's4:48experiments were typically carried out4:50on patients who had entered a mental4:51health institute for minor problems such4:53as anxiety disorders, postpartum4:56depression, and alcohol abuse. And when4:59we look at the hallway, it hints at5:01someone in this household suffering from5:03a severe drinking problem. The talking5:05fetus also confirms that the father was5:08in fact an alcoholic.5:10You got fired, so you drowned your5:12sorrows in booze. She had to get a clue5:16number three. The people chosen were5:18selected to be average inconspicuous5:20family people. When we examine the5:23house, it's safe to assume the family to5:24be of a somewhat wealthy middle class5:26status. Also, the monologue at the end5:29of the game describes the father to be5:31strikingly boring and average. Dad was5:34such a5:35drag. Every day he'd eat the same kind5:39of food, dress the same, sit in front of5:42the same kind of games.5:45Yeah, he was just that kind of guy.5:49Clue number four. Sub project 68's test5:52subjects are said to have been, amongst5:54other methods, exposed to prolonged5:56periods of extreme isolation and sensory5:59deprivation. The protagonist in PT wakes6:01up in an empty concrete room with a6:03large number of tally marks on the wall.6:06That could indicate that someone is6:07counting the days of his isolation. If6:10this is the case, it would have been a6:12very long, very isolated6:19confinement. Clue number five, Monarch6:22programming induces a split personality6:24into the subject's mind without his or6:27her knowledge about it. PT gives us6:29repeated hints to the protagonist having6:31more than one identity locked inside of6:33his unconscious. The only me is me. Are6:37you sure the only you is you?6:40[Music]6:46Clue number six. To condition an6:48acoustic cue as a trigger that activates6:51this hidden personality, the test6:53subject's brains are put into a relaxed,6:55almost hypnotic alpha wave state while6:57being forced to listen to a repetitive6:59audio recording over and over again. In7:02PT, the number7:04204863 seems to be that acoustic cue.7:0820487:1063 20.7:15The radio report in the beginning7:17indicates that the father of one of the7:18mass killings was found in a state of7:20trance, chanting those numbers over and7:23over again. It was also said that he was7:25heard repeating7:27204863 days before the killing started.7:29listening to the radio. Several days7:32before the murders, neighbors say they7:34heard the father repeating a sequence of7:36numbers in a loud voice. They said it7:39was like he was chanting some strange7:41spell. Clue number seven. To put the7:44brain in such a receptive alpha wave7:46state for easier programming, subjects7:49were administered controlled doses of7:51LSD. Now, within the scope of MK Ultra,7:54there are a number of CIA operations on7:57record that experimented with the7:58administration of LSD to the unwitting8:01public through various distribution8:02methods. One of those being the targeted8:05contamination of the water supply of8:07selected households. Do you recall the8:09warning of the radio narrator quite in8:11the beginning of the game?8:14You can't trust the tap water came to8:16investigate. There are several signs8:18that the protagonist is in fact exposed8:21to LSD during the game. Since one of its8:23main symptoms is the enhanced perception8:25of colors. Think about the long red8:27corridor where time moves faster than8:30usual. The vision blurred. It appears a8:32lot like an actual LSD8:39trip. Clue number eight. Also, so far8:43there was no explanation whatsoever for8:46the magnetic resonance image of a human8:48brain in the menu. One of the photo8:50pieces is even hidden inside of that MRI8:52picture hidden inside the protagonist8:55subconscious. This strongly hints at a8:58medical psychiatric background, but9:00nothing of the rest of the plot points9:02in that direction. But if the9:04protagonist has in fact been the victim9:06of a series of traumatic mind control9:08experiments where his brain was9:10constantly under scientific observation,9:12this suddenly makes a lot of sense. And9:15since we're speaking of traumatic9:17experiences, if the test subjects are9:19deliberately traumatized during those9:21experiments, at the time of the murders,9:24the mind controlled killer would be in9:26the post-traumatic phase. Post9:28traumatic.9:32Now's the time to do it.9:35But agree this is highly speculative.9:38But since we're already hypothesizing,9:40there is the widely accepted theory that9:43both the numbers9:45204863 and the fake developer studios9:48name 7780s Studio hint at the same entry9:51in the public plant transcript genome9:53database to a tree called populous9:56trickarpa, PT, more commonly known as9:59black cottonwood. This tree grows10:01exclusively in western North America,10:04which the appearance of the town in the10:05teaser at the end of the game also hints10:07at. Now, Donald Yuan Cameron, the10:10project leader of Sub Project 68,10:12constantly commuted between two10:14different locations to work on his10:16experiments, Montreal, Canada, and10:19Albany, Oregon, which just so happens to10:21be almost exactly in the center of10:24populace population area. Now, this10:27could all be completely wrong. It's a10:29hypothesis. Well, I'll let you decide10:32how much truth there is to these10:33observations. Thanks for watching the10:36first episode of Monsters of the Week.10:38Now, it's your turn to choose where the10:40path leads. Until then, remember, the10:44truth is out there.10:47[Music]
