got0:41a great album thank you brother now0:44before before it was available to0:46everybody it's available now on all0:47streams and however you get your music0:48but before it was available they sent us0:50a link0:51bro they they gave us 48 hours to listen0:54to the album0:56that album went double platinum in my0:58car1:00and triple platinum at the house and you1:02know you know how bad it is with1:04something shut off then i went to go try1:05to listen to it again and it wasn't1:07there it's gone it effed me up man1:10april but what i also love about an1:12evening with silk sonic is there's no1:15fillers there's absolutely no feelers1:17man you gave us nine songs eight or you1:21know eight new ones but it was like1:24not just1:25quality the quantity was in all over the1:27place did you guys go in thinking like1:29man great albums used to have like1:32eight to ten twelve songs on it1:34i mean it's just hard1:38yeah i don't think we have 20 good ideas1:41right1:43and they saw and these1:45i i told andy i said if you can't get1:47them with nine or ten you're not going1:48to get them with 20. i hear you1:51i hear you1:53how do y'all know anderson how do you1:55know when when then smoking out the window is damn4:20near comical you know what i'm saying4:23like do y'all do y'all have a favorite4:25or is it hard to pick your4:27your child4:28yeah that's tough i mean yeah it's only4:31like nine songs so i mean4:33it's tough i think the whole album4:34really is is like our baby and i love4:37all the records man i mean he's singing4:39his face off yeah man4:42hey man how long was the process of4:45actually making this because you know we4:46we'll see people and they say oh man in4:48passing we said oh we got to work4:49together and usually that doesn't mean4:50anything4:52how long had not just getting in the4:54studio how long has it been an idea4:56i stalked bruno for roughly5:02his entire career right5:04i was always talking about hey bruno i'm5:06here yeah5:07i toured with him and he was still like5:09who are you what's going on5:12on tour with you brother we want to get5:13in studio5:14smoking out the window is actually uh5:16the first time we wrote on tour yeah5:18that was five years ago we started the5:20idea yeah we started the idea wait wait5:22that was how long ago four or five years5:24ago yeah damn5:27finally blessing us yeah5:29and it's one of those things that had to5:31happen the way it did because it would5:32have and it's the song's not that old5:34but we always had smoking out the window5:36we had this like subject matter and uh5:39it was on his birthday i called him over5:41and that's when we finally finished it5:42and then a pandemic hit yeah yeah yeah5:46did y'all work more or less during the5:48pandemic because we know you couldn't go5:49go out and do like big shows or anything5:51that you got you gentlemen are used to5:53does that lock you down a little more5:54create creatively5:57i feel like i think we work more and i5:59think that's what like gave us the juice6:01to make this album because we couldn't6:03play shows so we're like all right well6:05we gotta make up a show and bootsy6:06collins gonna be the host6:08and6:09you know we're gonna have an evening6:10with some sonic so when people put this6:11album on they're gonna feel like they're6:12watching us and to see if if what we got6:15also man and that's available for you6:16now is sequence so well6:19you know what i'm saying with bootsy on6:20the intro and and then just you know6:23like i know bootsy and people know of6:27bootsy but to take your audience also6:30and present for those that probably6:32don't know who bootsy collins is to also6:35give him a platform what made you guys6:37think like man we we got to get bootsy6:39not involved but really involved in in6:42this project we're doing6:44we wouldn't be here without him yeah you6:45know it's just like that and uh6:48i think we you know we owe a lot to them6:50and and not only bootsy but all the all6:53the [ __ ] tears and all the people6:54that paved the way you know what i'm6:55saying and um6:57when he heard the music he knew exactly6:59what we should be called and how should7:01look and you know what i'm saying so7:03uh it was it was only right hey man the7:06boots you know we probably hit this7:07before but did booty like7:55man what names did you guys actually had7:57before y'all would've said sonic i7:58would've been like sonic yeah8:00exactly yeah8:02exactly bruno you had mentioned that8:04anderson had pushed you to places that8:05you had never been before and you hoped8:07the same uh8:11and now verses in constant debt8:14what did you guys learn about each other8:17working so closely together battle happens and when9:01we're together and we're singing9:02together and going back and forth and9:03trying to top each other's lines9:05and try to out sing9:07you know and then he'll go and pull out9:08some and start rapping and then i'll be9:11looking at him mad right9:14and then you tell me you'll need a9:15morning over here9:18starting to start cutting you up we9:19don't need no more out here he started9:20dancing9:33when i saw you guys come together it was9:35one of those things where i was like of9:36course like this is it just this is so9:38natural it's like the perfect fit but9:40was there any pushback for this album9:42from anybody like i feel like you guys9:44would just give it be given the green9:46light but was there any of you guys9:47having to fight for it we don't do well9:49with push back back and forth9:53never been a fan of push back we are9:54allergic to that yeah you don't like9:55that makes me itchy right here9:58this is pretty much what it that commercial11:06ran about 455 000 times11:10and let me tell you why i know that11:12commercial so well i was sitting in my11:14room with covey11:16and that was the only commercial it11:17seemed like they came on it was the11:19death toll11:21it was this [ __ ] anderson pack that's11:23right commercial right it's called11:25balance yeah11:27yeah you brought me a lot of happiness i11:29don't hopefully man hopefully12:10we're going to be able to perform shows12:11and get this thing on the road but this12:14album that's what it is that is our show12:16yeah right that list of doom dude do12:19y'all have everything y'all can play12:21everything live already or do y'all feel12:23like nah we gotta if it's tour time12:27you see12:29uh-huh12:30we talk about practice right yeah12:33hey big boy we talking about practice12:35practice12:37but i would love to see a silk sonic12:39tour bro you know because and like i was12:42saying just with an evening with bro12:43there are absolutely no fillers and it12:46was it's an album that you can put on12:49that reminds me of albums back in the12:51days where you didn't have to skip12:53anything of course you have a favor of12:55your go-to but literally out of nine12:58songs bro like that's a that's a drive13:00from here to somebody's house and you13:03you enjoy13:04what you're doing was it important for13:06you guys to make something that you13:08could listen to because because we had13:10listen but was it important for you to13:12like it man if we can listen they can13:13listen13:15absolutely absolutely yeah yeah and and13:17also it's if they can't listen at least13:19we know we liked it right right right13:21right13:22it was for us anyway13:24like how did y'all get it yeah13:26that's i think that's selfishly for us13:28first and then hopefully it's infectious13:30and maybe our you know yeah we kind of13:32know what we're doing absolutely that's13:34that's it that's the great part about13:35being in a group too it's like we're13:37both bouncing off each other and you13:39know both of our influences13:41are pretty you know identical but we13:43really really are uh come together when13:45it comes to like soul and funk and yeah13:47and that kind of stuff and then both of13:49our eras like that 2000s you know when13:52we were coming up in high school and13:54stuff so we have a lot where they13:55intersect so um13:57yeah man the music is13:59a lot of times you know starts with what14:01we like for sure14:02yeah hey bruno and i'm pretty sure that14:04you've been on tour with a lot of people14:07what made anderson pack different14:11there's probably some people that's like14:12man he do not want me14:15we are performing istanbul14:20it's the jim's dog yeah but what made14:23you say man this this this guy14:26i can see working with him14:28um this is i mean it's just it's14:30god-given talent you know he's he's14:33incredible and when you see him on stage14:36and you see him in his the free14:37nationals14:38you could tell that uh14:40everything that he talked about all14:42right you know we're listening to the14:43same stuff14:44and he comes from the same background of14:46of performing live and gigging14:49and probably doing the bar circuit and14:51birthday parties and whatever you got to14:53do to to14:55to make it out14:56and when we got in the studio that's14:58what it was it was just like uh you know15:00you you you're like your friend so it15:03brings you back to this time15:05of15:06why you fell in love with music in the15:07first place like being in the garage15:08with your buddy and playing the guitar15:11and him on drums and just getting15:13excited over the music you're creating15:15hey man but that also shows bruno mars15:17uh uh confidence in what you do because15:20with me15:22if i see somebody that's talented i15:23don't share nothing with them15:26you know what i'm saying i don't want to15:27see the next person in radio15:29like you know what i mean i don't want15:31to i don't want to work with you you15:32know what i'm saying so so that shows me15:35how confident you are and what you do15:37because man i don't turn down15:39many then when i got home they25:12had the drum set at the house so then i25:14was like okay this is way better than25:16what i was doing before and i just25:18started doing it thanks mom natural yeah25:20man it wasn't too much noise in the25:22house25:23because she couldn't yeah she could have25:25really squashed your dream because i25:26would have bought you the drums then25:28after three or four days you would have25:29woke up and they would have been gone25:31well good thing my mom my mom was always25:32working so she it was only me in the25:34house a lot of times so thank god she25:35was i heard that all righty for real for25:37real for falls for false all righty now25:39anderson pack bruno mars he got his uh25:42bruno after a wrestler named bruno is25:45that san martino25:46this is uh for real for real really is25:49it for real for real yep25:52yeah25:52i used to be25:54i used to walk around like this so my25:55dad in his day was a wrestler named25:57bruno san martino that's dope26:00so he would call me bruno san martino26:02when i would walk around26:04amen you know if i had got named after26:06my dad26:07i wouldn't know what my name would
