I'm starting to3:22see a lot of people weaponize the Bible,3:24right? And so,3:26it really was like heavy on my heart to3:28teach people how to read the Bible, not3:30to weaponize, but to restore. The whole3:33point of the Bible is to restore3:35humanity, right? But, people use the3:38Bible almost like like a sword of just3:41like chopping people down, being3:43prideful. And I'll give you an example.3:45Early on, the reason why I hated3:47Christianity, I hated Christianity3:50because when I was in prison, there was3:53a father, a church he was a Catholic3:55basically. He came in and he would3:57literally tell people, "Hey guys, if you4:00love your sins, I just have to be honest4:02with you." And this guy was kind of like4:05you know, like very like a like a4:06hard-ass, right? Just very like straight4:08to the point, very blunt. He's like, "If4:11you guys continue to love your sin,4:14right? You will go to hell. Like I don't4:17It's my job to tell you guys." He's4:18like, "If And I know if you guys feel4:20disrespected or angry, but my job here4:23is to is not to sugarcoat anything.4:25We're all grown men here. So, I'mma keep4:27it real with you. If you love your sin,4:30if you continue to lust, if you're4:32cheating, if you're on the yard, if4:33you're, you know, doing drugs in here,4:35you will go to hell." Right? And he was4:38like talking about moral sin and, you4:40know, all these different types of sin4:41like layers of sin. And I remember4:43hearing that and feeling furious inside4:46of my heart, right? Because the one4:48thing that came out of my mind was, "But4:50don't you sin? And don't you continue to4:53sin?" And so, I remember one of the4:54homies, he's from 60s, he's a He4:57Nipsey Hussle's gang. He's like, "Man,4:59cuz." And then he sits there and he5:00goes, "Let me ask you something." He's5:02like, "Do you have you like stopped5:05sinning?" And then he goes, "Oh, yeah.5:07Well, there's different levels of sin,5:09right? And I don't like I don't really5:11sin and then when I do, I go to my my my5:14priest and I confess my sins and so, I'm5:17just letting you guys know. A lot of you5:19guys have confessed your sins here cuz5:21he would hold kind of like a confession5:22thing. And I know that a lot of you guys5:25love your sins cuz you've told me that,5:26right? And so, he's like, "I don't love5:28my sins." And during that time, he5:31started to bring up scripture, right?5:33Well, the the the, you know, the Bible5:35says we all fall short of the glory of5:36God. He would bring up He loved 15:38Corinthians 6:9 and 10, right? That's5:41the scripture that says, "Know you not5:42that the unrighteous shall not inherit5:44the kingdom of God. Be Be deceived,5:45neither fornicators nor adulterers nor5:47adulterers, nor effeminate, nor thieves,5:49nor covetous, nor drunkards shall5:50inherit the kingdom of God. And he would5:52stop right there. And so, I'm not going5:54to lie, that put a lot of fear in my5:56heart, too. I would read it, and I'd be5:57like, "Damn." And I would see the mood5:59and the energy and the vibe of the room6:03just shift from people to go,6:05"Damn." And it would make them feel like6:07they needed to stop sinning, but I would6:09then look and see the brother on the6:11yard like sinning, politicking, woofing,6:15you know, be gossiping, talking about6:17unaliving people, whatever, whatever.6:19So, it really didn't do anything, right?6:22One time I remember, this was at um ISP,6:25right? One of the prisons, the three6:26yard.6:28When you When you're on the yard,6:29depending on which yard you're at, if6:31you're on C I was on C yard, there's D6:33yard, there's A yard, there's B yard, so6:34Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, right? Delta.6:37There's a building, but also outside of6:39the building, there's the parking lot,6:40right? So, where the sheriff is I'm6:42sorry, sheriff, where the COs are,6:44when you look past those buildings,6:46people you can see civilians like you6:48can see your family walking out and6:50parking where they're parked. So,6:52people, you know, after yard would come6:54back in or after visitation would come6:56back in and like wave at their families.6:58What I saw was that father lighting up a7:01cigarette, right? Next to his car, just7:05like blowing And I'm like, "Man, what7:07the This fool said he don't sin? Like,7:09you have to choose, and you have to do7:11that." So, the next week, right? Which7:13this part of the story a lot of people7:14don't know. He came back in, and I7:16confronted him, but I told the homies I7:18was like, one of my other homies is7:20Vietnamese homie. I was like, "Hey, you7:21see this fool right here?" And he's7:23like, "Yeah, what the hell? This fool7:24smoking? I thought he said, you know, if7:26we love our sins, we're going to burn in7:27hell. This fool is going to burn like7:29the like the cigarette. Like, what are7:30you talking about?" So, I was like,7:32"Man, next week fool, I'mma bring that.7:33Hey, remind remind me, homie." And And7:35he was he was from the V, one of the7:37homies. And he's like, "Yeah, I got you.7:38I got you." We get there, he reminded7:40me. Sure little homie, he's like, "Hey,7:43remember this fool? Like, are you going7:44to Are you going to holler at him?" I7:45was like, "Of course."7:47He gets in the thing, right? And7:48[clears throat] I sit there and I go,7:50"Hey, um you know, Father, whatever,7:53right? I7:54I noticed that you said last week that7:56if we love our sins and we continue to7:58sin,7:59then we're going to go to hell, right?"8:00And he goes, "Absolutely." And I said,8:03"Well, what's up with the the you know,8:05when you're next to your car? Like, I8:06was like, you drive a black Subaru,8:07don't you?" And he's like,8:09>> [laughter]8:09>> kind of looked at me, he's like, "Yeah."8:11I was like, "What's up with you like8:12smoking and and doing all that?" And8:14right there, I just he shifted the goal8:17post. "Oh, you know, tobacco doesn't8:19control me, you know, it's not an8:21incandescent sin and a mortal sin. It's8:24you know, really like you could do it8:26cuz you don't know Catholic teaching,8:28respectfully, you don't really know8:30much." He started like changing the And8:31I'm like,8:33"But it sounds to me like you're making8:34an excuse cuz you told us not to make8:36excuses. But when I see how you walk,8:38well, the Bible says this and let me8:40explain to you why wine is allowed. You8:42know, the way wine be sober mind." He8:44started quoting scripture, but it was8:46all to like support himself and just8:48instead of going like, "Hey, yeah, I'm8:50smoking and I shouldn't do that." But8:53this is where I just saw the hypocrisy,8:55right? Even though I didn't know what8:57that was, what that meant, I was like,8:59"You're sitting here, you're telling me9:01and everybody else that they're going to9:02burn in hell, and you're over here9:04lighting up cigarettes and going, 'Well,9:06it's not really a grave sin. It doesn't9:08kill anybody.' Well, it is kind of9:10killing you, right? Technically, like9:13So, I would use that. I would be like,9:14"Isn't it killing you though? You get9:15cancer."9:16The older homie from 60s was like,9:19"Man, I'll be damned." Right? He's like,9:21"He really did that?" And I was like,9:23"Yeah, bro was Right, you were smoking."9:24And then when he's he confirmed it,9:26everybody just erupted in the class.9:28They were like, "This man, this is why,9:30bro, I'm good." And then one of the guys9:32was9:33asking to to to go back to his cell.9:35He's like, "Man, this is breaking my9:37back, bro. Bro is over here telling us9:39to do something. He not even living that9:40life. Man, I'm cool, bro. That's why I9:42can't be a Baptist. I can't be the9:44Catholic, whatever. I'm good. And the9:46one of the Mexican homies was just9:48straight up just jawing off like, why do9:51you do that? Why do you tell other9:52people to do something you couldn't do?9:53And it turned the whole room against him9:55low-key. But I saw the anger out of him.9:59Right? It was this heart of like, you10:01guys don't even know the Bible. Don't10:02even talk to me. Right? You guys don't10:04even know the church history. Don't even10:06talk to me. But what does that have to10:08do with the with the issue at hand? And10:10so, it made me kind of think back that10:12memory of whoa, you you're basically10:16twisting the scripture to allow you to10:19live however you want. And when someone10:21confronts you about that, you're just10:23like, your default is you don't know.10:25You guys are sinners. You guys are10:27idiots. You don't know anything. Don't10:28tell me what to do. Tobacco is okay.10:30It's fine. Right? Okay, but we drink10:32Pruno, too. So, if I just sip on Pruno,10:35and it doesn't get me drunk, then that's10:37okay, too. If I smoke weed, couple puffs10:39here and there, I ain't super blasted,10:41right? I'm just Is that okay? Like, now10:44it opens up this door of just all this10:46confusion and loopholes after loopholes10:49after loopholes. And so, that's what10:51kind of10:52uh made me think about10:54in the stream-a-thon, right? A lot of10:56these people as well, you guys been10:58there since day one,11:00were also asking this question of, man,11:02how do you exegite the scripture because11:04my pastor talks about this verse, and11:06when you talk about it, Johnny, it's11:08completely different. But when you talk11:11about it, I feel like the burden's11:12lifted off of me. When my pastor talks11:15about it, I feel like I just put on, you11:17know, I carry like 50 lb of weight on my11:19back now, and I'm like, uh I got to do11:21better. I got to try harder, which then11:23just leads me to spiral and burn out.11:25So, that's kind of what, you know,11:27inspired this episode, essentially, is11:30there are people who do that. Go ahead,11:31Jeremy.11:32>> Oh, no. I had a question. So, like when11:35that experience happened to you with11:36that Catholic pastor, right?11:38It was because he came in with the heart11:40of like you guys are doing wrong, I'm11:42doing right. Would there have been a11:44response from him?11:45And maybe not. Would there have been a11:47response from him that made you go11:50"Okay, I can hear him out and I'm11:51curious to hear about this religion11:53more."11:55Ver- uh and and versus like you became11:57Muslim after that, right?11:59>> Yeah.12:00>> So, so I'm wondering like what was the12:02answers from the I don't know what you12:04call your Muslim teachers that12:06also was very legalistic that you were12:08like, "Oh, well, this one makes more12:10sense and I'm willing to follow this at12:11least."12:12>> I think for me it wasn't any answers12:14that the Muslims gave me.12:16It was more of them being like good and12:19I wanted to be a good person. So, what I12:21mean by that is I remember talking to my12:24celly who was like a imam for me, right?12:26He was a12:27leader, a guy, a spiritual guide. And I12:30I told him that the the situation. I12:32said, "Hey, you know, this Catholic12:35priest, blah blah blah. He said X Y and12:37Z. He's a hypocrite." But, the way he12:40handled it, I'll be honest, was pretty12:42scriptural. He said, "Hey, brother. I12:45don't know what he was teaching. I12:47wasn't there. What I do know though is I12:49can only tell you what we teach about12:51that." And I and it wasn't like, "Man,12:54they're all fake. See, that's why12:55they're frauds." But, he didn't bash. He12:58actually carried himself in a way that13:00was respectful,13:01like almost empathetic and13:03compassionate. And so, that's what made13:05me go, "See, these guys are a religion13:08of peace. They're not over here trying13:09to disrespect. This dude is13:11disrespecting us. This dude is hella13:13defensive." This other person is is13:16going, "Even though he's defensive and13:18disrespectful,13:20you don't have to like holler at him13:21like that. It's okay. He's in his own13:23walk. He's doing his own thing, right?13:25Like let's just All we can care about is13:28our own spiritual path with Allah, with13:30God is what he said. And I was like,13:32"Huh, that makes a lot of sense." Right?13:34But why that also didn't work out for me13:37was because although he said that, there13:39was an underlying heart for me to use13:41the Quran and to read the Bible to then13:44go and attack people like this. Like, I13:46just wanted all the smoke after that,13:48right? Cuz the dude made me feel some13:50type of way, was hypocritical, and now I13:52completely changed my heart to to go13:54against the religion that, you know, I13:57obviously am a part of now. But14:00at the end of the day, I think it comes14:02down to how the person, my cellmate,14:06carried himself and responded to the14:08situation because I don't understand14:10sermons. I didn't understand the Quran14:12at that time. I didn't know Arabic. But14:14how I saw him carry himself, how his14:17actions essentially allowed me to then14:19go, "Whoa, I want that. I want to handle14:22things like a man versus like bashing on14:25people, hurting people, putting them14:28down, disrespecting them, calling them14:30out of their name, whatever it was." Cuz14:32everyone else in that room, as we lined14:34up to go back to the cell block, they14:37were basically talking trash. Like, man,14:40this my effort, you know, a little PDF14:43file trying to tell us what to do. Whoa,14:44whoa, whoa. And I was like, "Dang,14:46facts. You telling me what to do? Like,14:49you over here probably touching up"14:50Like, we were doing this. But then when14:52I go to, you know, my Muslim homie, he's14:55like, "It's cool. Everybody got their14:57flaws, right? We just got to get back to15:00this spiritual journey." But there was15:02legalism, as you say. You you you It15:04starts off like that. And then as I15:07learned, it was more it he also turned15:09that way too because towards the end,15:12when I had read scripture and I had15:13read, you can, you know, in in um Quran15:16chapter 4, you can literally like strike15:19your wife with force and if she doesn't15:22listen to you, which obviously for me is15:25a big no-no. You don't put your hands on15:27women, especially when it comes to my15:29situation where I watched my dad beat15:32the beat my mom like a dog for years.15:34So, it's very very like touching subject15:37for me. Obviously, I was checkboxing the15:38religion at that time, and I just it15:41didn't make sense. And then, we were15:43literally rolling snitches off the yard.15:46We were rolling people with bad jackets15:48and bad paperwork off the yard. We'd15:49literally stab them.15:51Do whatever we had to do and get them15:53off the yard.15:54Especially chomos, child molesters, and15:57rapos, rapists. We'd get them off fast,15:59right? And then I read, and I'm like,16:02"Why does it say here that bro was you16:05know, met a girl at 6 years old and then16:07consecrated the marriage, got married,16:09and consecrated at 9 years old?" He's16:12like in his 50s at this time.16:14How is that and where is that anywhere16:16in this world okay? And this is someone16:19So, we're it was it was mind-boggling to16:21me. Right? One minute, I'm like doing16:24you know, doing the dirt and booking16:26people on the yard, rolling them off the16:29yard because they did the same thing16:31what this prophet is doing, and that's16:34okay here, but it's not okay on the yard16:36and in the world because someone's a16:38prophet. And when I came to that person,16:41and I asked the celly, "Hey bro,16:42respectfully, what's up with this?" The16:45what what I was met with was the same16:47energy. Was A, "Don't ask about that.16:50You don't know the Arabic. You don't16:51understand. Blah blah blah." Like it it16:54came to this thing of like he started to16:55weaponize. "Well, Surah Al-Ma'idah says16:57this, and Surah An-Nisa says this." And16:59he starts17:00quoting things, right? "In the Hadith,17:02it says this this and I'm just like,17:05It sounds like to me you're just making17:06excuses for bro.17:08If that's the case, cuz if I walk out on17:10this yard 10 toes on GP, general17:12population, and I go, 'Nah, it's cool.17:14Surah Al-Ma'idah says this about this17:16guy. I'm getting stabbed. I'm getting17:19airlifted out and literally rolled up17:21rolled up like off the yard, right? So,17:24it just I looked at him and I judged him17:26too and I was like, "Bro, sounds like to17:28me whatever." And17:30it was a a slow build-up to the crash17:32out basically was17:34"Man, I felt a little bit of peace,17:35sure. I felt like I had some kind of17:37understanding and it was like the rug17:39pull of the century."17:41Everything is good except for this one17:43thing and they couldn't answer that for17:45me, right?17:46>> [snorts]17:46>> And at the end of the day, it was a it17:48was a multitude of things, but that was17:49one of the biggest things. The second17:51thing was yeah, when they sat there and17:53would defend. Right? Why does it say17:55here strike with force? Right? I have17:58other homies who are Muslim and they do18:00speak the Arabic and they and shout out18:02to them they kept it real and said,18:03"Yeah, bro, like you are allowed to do18:05that." I mean, you are allowed to strike18:07with force, right? Because that's how a18:09person learns. If you just But other18:12people like him would tell me you have18:13to tell you can tap them lightly. Like,18:15"Nah, bro." Tap lightly or not, you18:17shouldn't be putting your hands on a18:18woman. That's just how it is at the end18:20of the day, right? You're a man, you18:22could literally like hurt people. And18:24so, it just had a lot of these like18:28goalpost shifting and let me change and18:31nobody answered anything foundationally18:33for me. Everything was almost seemed18:35like to just pacify me and I didn't want18:37that and most people don't want that and18:40I think that's why A Chord of the Heart18:41is the same where it's like just keep it18:43real with us. You don't do this, you18:44didn't do that. You don't like this, you18:46don't like that. Okay, right? And I just18:48always keep it real with people because18:49I know what you you can tell when18:52someone is sitting there18:53um and and kind of like just BSing you18:57basically because they don't know. And18:59to those people I've learned if you19:00don't know something,19:02just say you don't know. You don't have19:04to try to be like, "Well, here's the19:06thing." Right? There's times where I19:08literally go19:09"I don't know." We had James Sexton on19:11the podcast. Bro had so many big brain19:13questions and I would just be like19:16I don't know why he would allow that,19:17but this is what it means to me. I mean,19:19I can let you know this. Like I wouldn't19:21sit there and try to like answer him. We19:23had great dialogue, great conversation19:25because of that, right? But if I sit19:26here and I try to convince somebody to19:28see it from my side, that's not going to19:30work. Even when it comes to heart19:32gaining, there was somebody who19:34you know, I tried to tell them and I I19:37could just tell that this person wasn't19:39ready, but he wanted the truth.19:41And then when I told him the truth, bro19:42completely closed his heart to me.19:44Completely closed his heart to me. And I19:47learned from that experience, too, of19:48going, "Dang, there is a fine balance19:50between just telling somebody the19:52truth." Cuz the truth without somebody19:54being ready to hear it can come off as19:56very offensive, very abrasive, and very19:59abusive. But I mean, I just straight up20:02told him, "Do you really want me to tell20:03you?" Man, just give it to me raw. Like20:05tell me the truth. I was like20:06"Bro, you're not ready for it." No, no,20:09like just please, bro, just tell me.20:10Don't gain my heart. All right. Boom,20:12boom, boom, boom, boom. And they were20:13literally like20:15"I don't like you." And they like hopped20:17off. They just That was it. From then20:18on, it was distance, it was this, it was20:21that. But at the end of the day I think20:24what people still respect, right? Cuz20:26that brother still respects me. I see20:28him in the Discord, all that. Is man, at20:31least he told me like what it really20:33was, not his opinion, but scripturally20:36he was doing it to restore me. Right? He20:38was pointing me back to God.20:40When I with these other people, they20:42weren't pointing me back to God. They20:44were saying, "Be quiet cuz this scares20:47me and it's going to flip my foundation.20:49So you shut up cuz you're making me feel20:51some type of way right now. If you keep20:53on digging, you're a horrible person cuz20:56I don't want to feel horrible. And if20:57you make me feel horrible, you're a20:59horrible person." It was this energy.21:01And I don't That's not okay. That's not21:03okay at the end of the day, right? So21:05Yeah, and I think that's why what I21:06loved about the James Sexton is he sat21:09there and he was like21:11I love how you're just confident in what21:13you say. Like me coming with my21:15questions doesn't rock your foundation.21:17It doesn't sit there and make you have21:19to like pacify me. You just telling me21:21what it is and that's that. And he said21:23it straight up like I respect that. Cuz21:24these are hard conversations to have,21:26but you have to have hard conversations.21:28You have to have hardened21:30You have to be open-minded to these21:32things. And that's the thing I didn't21:34see in people21:38was they had hardened hearts even when21:40they're trying to guide me. It was more21:42of like I know what's like it's like21:44this I'm your daddy energy. That's the21:46best way to put it. I'm your daddy. I'm21:48little bro. Calm down little bro. Like21:50this energy no one wants to take that.21:52It's just It's just the truth. Right?21:54So, yeah, it it was21:57That's what kind of made me think of why21:59so many people turn away from religion22:01as well. Why they're like shh I'm going22:03to just go and do my own thing. Cuz you22:05don't want to answer the question and22:07even if you don't want to, you don't22:08keep it real. You could you could even22:10go I don't want to answer that question.22:12It makes me feel uncomfortable. Right?22:14People would respect that more than like22:16well, it's your your fault. You asking22:19that question proves that you're a piece22:20of garbage. It's like nah, just keep it22:22real. If you don't know how to do it,22:24say I don't know. If you don't want to22:25cuz it makes you uncomfortable, say that22:27too. Cuz at least that's the real and we22:30we can we can do something with that22:31versus oh, I think I know have all the22:34answers and once you call me out on it,22:36I'm going to get pissed at you and I'm22:37going to vilify you. And and that turns22:40people away. So, yeah, it it it comes22:43down to this pride of scripture too. Cuz22:46every one of these were from the Muslim22:48homie22:49knew the Quran front to back.22:52The Catholic, you know, father, he knew22:54those verses. He didn't know the whole22:56Bible, but he knew those verses like the22:58back of his hand. And he He always use23:00he would siphon through those verses. I23:02would I would notice that of like Romans23:043:23, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.23:08Right? Um23:10all these verses that basically were23:12calling us sinners and evil. Romans23:143:10.23:15And he would just siphon through it.23:17Yeah, see you're like this, you're this,23:18you're this. But every single person I23:20saw and in the end that program23:23collapsed, right? They They did He just23:25left. He was kicked out, whatever23:26happened, no more program.23:28I saw that every time they went there23:31uh people were just they left heavier,23:34they left more complainful.23:36And what's really sad was23:38I later ran into a CO who who quit,23:43right? And sh- it was a a a23:45a girl. She told me that from that23:47program23:49that he was basically complaining about23:52the inmates. Like all these inmates23:54don't want to change. Right? Like23:56they're not people who like cuz the23:58there there has to be a certain amount23:59of people who have to show up to the24:00class for the for the the government to24:03go, "Okay, we can keep it keep it going24:05or not." But I guess there wasn't enough24:07people because when they would go there24:09it makes sense they would feel more24:10burdened. You're already in prison. Like24:13you're getting you're you're punished24:15right now, but you're sitting here24:16coming to this place to get some relief24:18and you're not. And he would come off24:21with this energy from what she was24:22telling me was like "They're too soft24:26for this class."24:27Inmates being too soft is crazy, right?24:30Like you24:30They're too soft, you know, they they24:32don't have the mental you she would use24:34ver- he would use words like they don't24:36have the mental capacity to understand24:38spiritually what's going on. Of course24:40not. We're not spiritual. It's your job24:43as a spiritual guide to guide us and not24:45just bark orders at us, right? At the24:47end of the day it's the same with24:49business. Bad employees means bad24:51managers at the end of the day, right?24:52It's like they don't they're not If24:54you're not training somebody and really24:55guiding them and like growing them,24:58that's not fully 100% on them. It's like25:0050/50. But he he was talking as if it25:02was everybody else's fault cuz they25:05didn't know certain scriptures and they25:06did they were hardened, but really he25:08couldn't change his heart. And this is25:10what happens when you know scripture is25:12you're like, "I know scripture. I'm I'm25:14there's nothing wrong with me. It's25:15everyone else." It's like, "No, that25:17even as a pastor, I know a lot of25:19scripture, but I know I don't know every25:21single thing. You have to be teachable.25:23You have to be able to accept. You have25:24to learn. And you have to be able to be25:26guided and corrected, right? And25:28everything has to be tied into Jesus25:30Christ. You can't just argue from a25:32point of authority.25:33That just doesn't work at the end of the25:35day.25:36So if you guys want to go deeper with25:38the Bible unlocks and just having these25:40biblical resources, guys, we created an25:42app called Core the Heart Daily. Back to the episode.26:17>> Let's get into the first topic of the26:19podcast today. Why does reading your26:21Bible actually matter?26:22>> Well, because the Bible a lot of people26:25miss what the Bible actually is. So26:28people think it's just like a history26:31book26:32or, you know, it's just something that26:36There's like an abbreviation for the26:37Bible. B.I.B.L.E. is Basic Instructions26:40Before Leaving Earth.26:41>> Ooh.26:42>> Right? They're like, "Oh, it's just26:43instructions." So they they again, they26:45see it as26:46you know, an instruction manual, they26:48see it as26:50"Oh, this is something that26:52history, po- poetry even, whatever it26:55is. But, what people don't realize is in26:58the Bible, it tells you what the Bible27:00is. It's kind of crazy. When you look at27:02John chapter 1 verse 1, it says, "In the27:04beginning was the word of God. The word27:05was with God. The word was God." And the27:09And the word for27:10word in the Bible in Koine Greek,27:12because the New Testament is written in27:14Koine Greek, Old Testament is Hebrew and27:16Aramaic, is logos.27:19Logos literally means the inspirational27:21spoken word of God. So, when you read27:25the Bible,27:26the word is God's word, is scripture.27:29So, when people go, "I want to hear from27:31God."27:33Or they say, "I heard from God."27:35And they they don't have Bible verses to27:37quote it. You ask them, "How many times27:39have you read the Bible?" They say,27:42"N- Not many. Not Never once, never27:44twice." Whatever.27:45Then, what they're basically saying is,27:48"I'm going to go off of my27:49interpretation, my feelings, my27:51emotions." And that's why there's like27:5340,000 denominations.27:55>> Mhm.27:56>> Right? The Bible tells you what the27:58Bible is. It's not just instructions.28:00It's literally God. So, people go, "How28:04come I don't hear God?" And I always28:05tell them, "Have you cracked open your28:07Bible?" "No, I pray. I fast. I tithe."28:11Sure, that's ways that you can hear him28:13too, sure. But, the most accurate way,28:15if you crack open the word, and you28:17crack open the Bible, you're literally28:19cracking open God's mouth.28:21Right? So, that's what it comes down to,28:23but people don't know that, right? First28:25John chapter 5:7, "There are three that28:27bear record in heaven, the Father, the28:29the Word, and the Holy Ghost." That's28:31the Trinity verse. These three are one.28:33But, it constantly refers back to this28:36word as an inspiration from God, as the28:39word of God, and as God. But, they're28:42saying they have a relationship with28:43God, and they've never cracked open the28:45Bible. They just hear sermons, Tik Tok,28:48YouTube University, right? Chat GPT, and28:51they're like, "Well, that has verses in28:52scripture, sure." But you have to you28:54have to go to the actual word. Bust it28:56open open. And that's why even Jesus28:59quotes scripture, right? It is written,29:01Deuteronomy chapter 8, he quotes, right?29:03Man shall not live by bread alone, all29:05this stuff. So, if Jesus himself quotes29:08the Bible and says, "Me and my father29:10are one," right? And he says, "All the29:12will that's handed down to me is through29:14the scripture, right? And so, that's why29:17it's it's important as as Acts tells us29:20to study day and night and study to show29:23yourself approved in 2 Timothy. Because29:25you start to blockchain, right? Just29:27like I did right now, I brought up like29:29seven different verses in just a couple29:31sentences. That's how you're inspired by29:34God is to is to cross-reference, which29:36is what we did in the Streamathon.29:38People were like, "Dude, Johnny, what29:40the hell? Like, you just connected 1729:42verses literally speaking this way, and29:46we're over here like, 'What? Like, oh my29:48gosh, it's crazy.' And that's how you29:50know God is speaking is because all29:53scripture is, you know, uh inspired by29:56God. And it even says in 2 Peter that it29:59cannot be interpreted. If you're30:01interpreting scripture, it says, "No30:03manner of scripture is up for30:05interpretation."30:06Well, it makes sense because if I sit30:08here and go, "What this means to me,"30:10and then what it means to you, Aaron, or30:12to Jeremy, or Sleeps, or whoever, it's30:13going to be different, right? Because30:15that's our filter there. God is like,30:18"Don't filter me. Crack it open and30:20accept me."30:21Right? And so, that's30:22>> I feel like our app like the core of the30:24Heart Daily app is like the closest30:25thing you have to Rap Genius for the30:27Bible.30:27>> Yeah.30:28>> Like, you can actually go through and30:29understand what each word like each30:31verse actually means.30:32>> Yeah.30:32>> Okay, this might be a really hot take,30:34so just cut me off if I'm super wrong,30:36but isn't it it's like a it's like a30:38Christian who doesn't read the Bible30:39it's kind of like a parasocial30:41relationship cuz you're like, "Oh, I go30:43to sermons. I watch the YouTube videos,30:44but you're not willing to have the30:45actual connection and conversation with30:47God by just cracking open the word30:49itself." Jeremy said, "Clock it."30:51>> No, facts though, because that's what I30:52say, right? I'm like, "A lot of you guys30:54are Jesus admirers. You're not Jesus30:56followers." And this is no disrespect,30:58but it's true. I could sit here and be31:00like, let's say I'm a LeBron fan. I can31:02know that he has 40,000 points in the31:04NBA and he's from Akron, Ohio, and he31:07came from this thing and that thing and31:09whatever, but it's like if you ask me to31:10go, "Can you pick up the phone and call31:12him? Like, can you visit him, have a31:13relationship with him? Can you call his31:15son, you know, Bryce and Bronny and all31:17that?" I would be like, "No, that's31:19completely parasocial, right?" In the31:21same way, the Bible is like that. People31:23are very parasocial with the Bible.31:25Like, "I think and I feel and I'm close31:27to God and" right there I'm like, "Well,31:29where's the scripture that says that31:30you're close to God? Do you even know31:32how to get close to God? Do you even31:33know what the Holy Spirit is speaking31:35about and how to receive the Holy31:36Spirit? Do you even know what types of31:38confessions are? There's two types of31:39confessions. Do you know there's three31:41types of baptism? Do you You're only31:43talking about the water one. What about31:44the fire and the Holy Spirit one?" And31:46right there, two things happen to31:47people, bro.31:49I think it's because of that energy of31:51like they kind of know that it's they're31:53lacking and they're parasocial. So, when31:55you call them that, they then feel like31:57like they're weird, right? They're like,31:59"Well, well." And then it's always this32:01hardness. 99% of it usually it's like 1%32:05of my experience with people when I call32:06them out is like accepting. It's like,32:09"Damn, you're right. I really should32:11actually have a real relationship with32:13God. Johnny, how do I do it?"32:15But 99 is, "You don't know me. Like, you32:18can't tell me what the Holy Spirit told32:20me. Like, I know about God. Just you32:22think you're the only one that knows32:23about God?" It's always this energy. And32:26and that's that's usually when you sit32:27there and call somebody, "You're a32:28fanboy." They get pissed, right? But32:30it's like, "But what if you are a32:31fanboy?" Like, isn't it Wouldn't you be32:33appreciative that someone is telling you32:35and be like, "Hey, you can go here and32:37like meet this person VIP. Here's the32:39path." No, I I'm good. You I don't need32:41your VIP pass. I I have I I know him.32:43I've met him before. But when you do32:45this, it's completely off.32:47>> Totally. No, I like how you said32:49cracking the Bible up and it's literally32:50just like speaking to God directly. It's32:52like, "Can you call LeBron?"32:52[clears throat] No. But can any of us32:54like talk to God at any moment? Yes,32:56theoretically, if you're willing to just32:57crack open the Bible. That is your phone32:59number. You can text Jesus at any time.33:01Just crack that Bible.33:02>> Seriously.33:04>> Open.33:04>> Well, so [laughter] it it when33:07What?33:09Nothing you can do.33:10>> this. I cracked How about you crack open33:12a Bible?33:12>> Yeah.33:13>> [laughter]33:13>> Yeah.33:14>> What the hell?33:15>> Sorry. Sorry.33:16>> Hey, crawl up. How about that?33:17>> Sorry.33:18>> Wow.33:19If you're a beginner Christian, you have33:21to lean on somebody else to interpret33:23the Bible for you.33:25Right? And there's a lot of pastors that33:27can show that they're learned in some33:29way or another.33:29>> Yeah.33:30>> How do you know then as a beginner33:32Christian if the interpretation is33:34correct?33:35>> Because you're kind of have to follow33:36them. I'll give one example of just a33:38typical verse. It was like, uh don't33:40spare the rod on your kids.33:42>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.33:42>> You know, a lot of pastors will say,33:44"Hey, that means like discipline them."33:46And it's like, "Yeah, if you need to33:47smack them around, smack them around."33:49Right? Like you can't33:51What's the context there? What's the33:53true interpretation? You know what I'm33:54saying? But that's one silly example.33:57>> Yeah.33:57>> It goes so much deeper in so many33:59different directions.34:00>> Sure. Sure. So, the center line is34:02always Jesus, right? When you look at34:05scripture, John 5:39, it says, "Search34:07ye the scriptures. In them you think you34:09have eternal life. They are they which34:11testify of me." So, everything in the34:14Bible is about Jesus Christ, right? Luke34:1624:27 is the same thing. He says34:18everything from Moses to Malachi,34:20meaning all the prophets, is about me,34:23right? And that's why they thought he34:24was narcissistic because he's like, "All34:27of this is about me." when he's saying34:28this in front of the scribes, Sadducees,34:30and Pharisees. And that's why they34:31wanted to kill him. Because they're34:33like, it's not about you. And he's like,34:35actually it is. And in the end we saw34:37that it is about Jesus. So,34:39that is the center line. Any type of34:41teaching, for example, spare the rod,34:43right? Jeremy just brought this up. But,34:45the rod in the Bible is the gospel.34:48Right? To discipline your kids is to34:50discipline them with the gospel. It's to34:52remind them when they're trusting34:53themselves that they're new creatures in34:55Christ. They don't have to trust34:56themselves. So, you don't have to tell34:57them to lie. You can You don't have to34:59tell them not to lie. You can be like,35:01"Hey, why are you trusting your thoughts35:03that you're a liar?" Romans 3:4 says35:06everyone's a liar. Why don't you trust35:08the word of God? Like, who told you? Mom35:10didn't tell you to go and steal. Dad35:11didn't tell you to go and steal. You35:12trusted yourself, which is the old35:14creature. You're supposed to trust in35:15the word. This is not sparing the rod.35:18Understand this is telling them the35:19gospel. But, people don't know that,35:22right? Of course. How can you figure35:24that out? No Most people would read that35:26and be like, "Oh, I can discipline my35:27kids." That's surface level. But, where35:29is this tying to Jesus Christ at the end35:31of the day? Right? Even in the35:33discipline you can have faith like this35:35will point them closer to God, right?35:37And if it does, 100% it's okay. But, if35:40it doesn't, and you're doing it cuz35:42you're angry, and you're frustrated, and35:43you're, you know, taking using them like35:45an emotional punching bag, probably35:47don't hit them. Like, don't discipline35:49them. This is common sense, obviously,35:51but people don't think about that. The35:53saying is what? The common sense isn't35:55so common or whatever, right? In In a35:57lot of ways, Christians don't have35:59Christ at the center anymore. I call it36:02the me-shuns and the I-shuns. Nowadays,36:04it's you-shuns, I-shuns, me-shuns. What36:07about me? What this means to me? I got36:09to do this. I got to do that. You got to36:11do this. You got to do that. It's no36:12longer Christ did that. Everything is36:14you got to do it. You got to handle it.36:16I got to handle it. We got to handle it.36:17Whatever, right? At the end of the day,36:20it's the answer to the question. You36:22have to see Jesus in every line, number36:24one. You have to see Jesus in every36:26story, number two. You have to tie36:29everything back to Jesus Christ.36:31Whichever way it is, that's how you36:33discern wolves and sheep as they say,36:35right? One will turn you back to the36:37gospel, another one will preach a36:39different gospel. Sprinkles in some36:42Jesus, 100% but then it leads you to36:44works, feelings,36:47thoughts, interpretations, perspectives,36:49experiences. Those things is basically36:52tarnishing Jesus, fables and fairy tales36:55as it says in the Bible. They're36:57twisting the scripture for their gain.36:59We point the scripture back to the37:01rightful person who it points to, which37:04is Jesus Christ. Anything you guys ever37:06learn from me,37:08you know 1,000% I'm always going to37:10point it back to Jesus Christ, right?37:12And this just goes from teachings to37:14chastisement, to everything because 237:16Timothy 3:16 is very clear. All37:18scripture, not all doctrine, not all37:20church tradition, all scripture is an37:24inspiration from God directly and it is37:27usable for reproof, for correction, for37:30teaching of righteousness. So, all of37:32these things have to come back to Jesus37:35Christ and the gospel. Scripture has to37:38do that. Sadly,37:40um I think what I'm seeing in just the37:42churches in general is they use37:45scripture like how I was trying to use37:47scripture as a Muslim to destroy37:48Christians, they use it and weaponize it37:51to go, "Look at me. Look at how obedient37:53I am and you guys need to be just as37:55obedient if not more." So, it turns37:58scripture and the focus back to self38:01instead of savior, different esses,38:02right? And so, this is how we're able to38:04sit there and go, "Who's actually38:07talking about what? Are you talking38:08about Jesus and resting in him and he's38:12going to be the one who brings the38:13gospel and ushers in the change and38:15transformation? Or are you saying,38:17'Yeah, Jesus helped us but now you have38:19to maintain your salvation, you have to38:21maintain your transformation, you have38:23to maintain everything else. It's on38:24you. So, it's shifting the spotlight.38:27It's very simple when I explain it this38:28way to go, "Ooh, this pastor's not38:31Although he's quoting scripture, Satan38:33did the same thing."38:35Quoted scripture, did not point to38:37anyone else but self. He said it, right?38:39It is like if you're son of God, turn38:43these stones into bread. Well, the bread38:45is not for God, it's for himself. It's38:46to eat, right? If you be the son of God,38:49throw yourself off of the cliff cuz it38:51is also written. He's quoting38:52Deuteronomy, he's quoting Psalms. He's38:54basically saying the angels will protect38:55you. But, it makes him challenge God,38:58right? I have to now throw myself off39:00and be like, "God, help me." Right? So,39:03you can see how the enemy works. He39:05quotes scripture, he knows scripture39:06better than any of us. No surrender39:08though, no obedience, and never points39:11back to God. Only points back to self39:13and will sprinkle things. "Well, God39:15said, didn't God say?" He always does39:17this. And every preacher's like that.39:20"And the Lord said, those who overcome,39:22so you better overcome." Right there,39:24they're quoting scripture, but now the39:26shift is you overcome everything versus39:29Jesus already overcame. And Jesus who39:31started the good work will finish the39:32good work. He's the author and finisher39:34of our faith. Right? That's four verses39:36in one, but people are sitting there39:38going, "Well, what about me? What about39:39me? What about me?" So, people have to39:41realize39:42how do you tell if someone is leading39:44you astray versus leading you back to39:46Jesus Christ? Well, are they pointing39:48back to Jesus Christ?39:50It's just like a signpost. It should be39:52pointing Scripture should be used as39:54like a signpost. People are using39:56scripture like a stop sign. You stop39:59right there. You Let me check. It's like40:01a It's kind of like a like ice versus40:03like um I don't know, open borders,40:06right? One is like, "You don't get to40:08come in here." Well, right? The other40:09one is like, "Come on in. We're going to40:12let you We're going to give you peace,40:13happiness, joy, and all that." So, you40:15can think about it from that40:16perspective.40:18Nobody told me that faith would be this40:19lonely. I thought when I gave my life to40:21God, everything would just click.40:23Community, peace, direction. A lot of us40:25are out here just trying to figure it40:27out alone. Your family thinks it's a40:28phase. You go to church on Sunday,40:30you're smiling, and then on Monday,40:32reality hits and you're back alone in40:34your home, in your thoughts. I know40:36exactly what that's like. I got out of40:37prison at the age of 25. I didn't have a40:39church home. I didn't have friends. I40:41didn't even really have family to back40:43me up. I had God. I had a Bible, but40:45more importantly than anything, I had a40:47pastor who I could lean on, to ask40:49questions, and to just receive40:50mentorship and have fellowship with. And40:52the thing that changed everything for me40:54wasn't just studying alone. It was40:55actually having someone I could bring my40:57real questions to. Not the Sunday school40:59questions, the real ones, the ones that41:01keep you up at night. The ones that make41:03you feel unworthy because you can't41:04figure it out on your own. Therefore,41:06you feel as if you're less of a41:08Christian. That's why every single41:09Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard41:11Time, I go live inside the Core of the41:12Heart Daily app. First, we do a full41:14Bible class. Real teaching, not that41:17surface level stuff. We go super deep.41:19You were never supposed to do this41:20alone, and now you don't have to. Bible41:22class every Saturday at 10:00 a.m.41:23Pacific Standard Time. Can't wait to see41:25you guys there.41:26>> I guess like on that example of how41:29they'll use scripture in that moment to41:31be like, "You need to overcome or41:32whatever." What about when they say like41:36it's not necessarily that direct, but41:38it's more so of like41:39you have to call on Jesus to give you41:41the strength to move forward.41:43>> Mhm.41:43>> It's still like you're calling on Jesus,41:45and they use verses about how like, you41:48know, look at this Bible verse where41:49David called on God, and God gave him41:51the strength to push forward when he had41:53to fight the you know, these battles at41:56Jericho and41:57>> Yeah, that's still self, though.41:59Right? It's like42:00>> That's what42:00Give me those examples of like, well,42:02that This is how you read it, cuz I42:04guess that's where I'm like42:05>> Yeah.42:06>> I would read that verse 10 times, and42:09read it one way, you know.42:10>> Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, because it it it42:12it has a lot to do with heart.42:14And that's what I addressed earlier is42:16where is your heart posture? Is this42:18pointing me to God or is it pointing42:20back to self? So, you just did what what42:22we're saying. You take the word of God42:24and then you go, "I'm going to42:26overcome." But the Bible already says I42:28overcame the world.42:30Right? So, that's why context and42:32studying is important, guys. Right? You42:34have to study. Cuz if you don't know,42:36it's kind of like a missing piece of the42:38puzzle. If you have one piece A piece A,42:41but you need piece B to see like the42:43full, right? Art, let's say. If you just42:46have piece A, you're going to sit there42:47and like try to figure it out. What is42:49this? It kind of looks like a cow. It42:51kind of looks like a donkey. Is it a42:52horse? Like, you won't really know,42:54right? That's why it's important to read42:55context. But even if you don't have the42:58context, it's very simple. Is this43:02pointing you to go and do stuff for you43:04to overcome, even if it is to43:06accessorize God and harness his power,43:09and etc. etc.?43:11Or is it making you rest in Jesus43:15Christ? Yes, you can move boldly, but43:17still have rest. You can be bold and43:19still have humility. But when you just43:20hear that,43:22anyone who's discerned, "Oh, I call upon43:25God cuz God is going to let me43:26overcome." Even if the tonality isn't43:28like that. "You know, I know that God is43:30going to give me the strength to43:31overcome all things." Like even if it's43:33this tonality, the heart is still I have43:36to receive something to then overcome43:38these things. Well, you got to peel that43:40back. Why do you have to overcome it?43:42Isn't that what Jesus has to do? Like,43:44do you think Jesus is sitting here like43:46a like a teacher with like a like a43:48paddleboard? Like, did you did you get,43:50you know, like with the paddle and he's43:51like, "Did you Did you overcome yet? No,43:53you didn't? Okay, all right, I'm going43:55to beat you a couple times." Like, no.43:57Jesus is like, "Hey, you can overcome43:59it. Give it to me. I got you. I'm going44:01to handle it. I'm going to handle it."44:02And when you overcome things, it's not44:05even you. It's the grace of Jesus Christ44:06who gave you the power to do so. But44:08people are backwards. Well, God will44:11give me this to do this. Well, God will44:13give me the heart.44:14I'll give you an example.44:16There was somebody who was talking about44:18home that that they were homeless.44:20Right? And I could sense it right away44:22cuz scripture would just pop up. Boom,44:24boom, boom. And they were saying44:25basically that they were homeless and44:28that they but them being homeless44:31allowed them to be closer to God, to44:33listen to our main stages, to listen to44:35the Discord, to use our app and all of44:36these things. And right there I I I I44:39checked it in the Discord. I said, "Hey,44:40respectfully to this person,44:43if you think about God's heart, would he44:44want us to be homeless though?"44:47And it it immediately we can tell44:49everyone was like mind-blown emoji like,44:51"Oh, snap." There was another person in44:53there who was also homeless. That person44:55bent his heart was like, "Dude, you're44:57right. You're absolutely right." I said,44:59"If you think about it, what I can sense45:01here is it's this over-spiritualization45:04of I don't like working anymore, right?45:08And so, how do I find the loophole to go45:10now, like45:14I'm in this season and I don't have to45:16work, right? So, I saw that right away.45:18And how did I know that that part was45:20true? Cuz when I poked into it just a45:22little bit,45:24>> [snorts]45:24>> it came out.45:25Right? Hey, so and I and I even gave45:28perspective. Let's say you go and you45:30get a job,45:31right? Matthew, Paul pitched tents.45:34There's people who did these types of45:35things, right? They didn't just sit45:37there and do nothing.45:38They actually worked. Working is very45:40healthy for your brain. Because when45:42you're not working, you have a lot of45:44time on your hands. And we know idle45:46hands is the devil's playground. You'll45:48be more isolated, you have more45:50thoughts. Anyone, just do this check.45:53When you're at home alone, you have45:55these thoughts that are amplified. It's45:57almost like45:58they're louder,45:59right? So,46:00I explained that situation and I said,46:03"Why couldn't it be like this, right?46:05Because Hebrews 13:5 would pop up. I'm46:07with you till the ends of the earth. I46:08neither sleep nor slumber,46:10right? Don't think about where you lay46:12your head. I've prepared everything for46:14you. I go in front of you." These are46:15multiple verses. "I make every crooked46:17path straight."46:18I could see in this person that they46:20left because they weren't getting46:22edified. Maybe they were at work and46:24they were trying to preach the gospel,46:25but they weren't trying to, you know,46:27share the gospel. They were shoving the46:29gospel, right? They were like, "Ah, God46:30did this for me." It's kind of like this46:32type of energy. I could sense it right46:34away cuz of the scripture. And so, what46:36I said was,46:37"You can have faith in God46:39that he comes down and he's going to46:41help you preach the gospel to people. I46:43think what people would see more is not46:47a person who's homeless, but to go,46:49'Hey, I was homeless.' Testimony. I went46:52here. I don't like working, but to be46:54honest, I'm very thankful that through46:56my servant, God spoke through him,46:59allowed me to work, and you know,47:02this is how God worked in my life." And47:04then experience God through that to then47:06preach the gospel to people cuz where47:07you work, there's always people who need47:09the gospel. They're empty, they're47:10lonely, whatever, whatever, right? But47:12this person immediately became47:13combative.47:15"Well, you know, like I just I don't47:17know what to say respectfully, but47:20I know that God is going to lead me47:22where and how come, Johnny, you don't47:23have faith that God will lead me where47:26where I would go, right?" So, I kind of47:27like laughed, right? Even now thinking47:29about it. And that's when I said, "Do47:31you think God God wants you to be47:34homeless, though?"47:36Right? And then everyone's like, "No."47:38I'm like, "Do you genuinely think God47:40would do that?" And secondly, if we are47:41to be examples, what what what do you47:43How are you going to lead people, right?47:45When someone comes to you and goes,47:46"Hey, I don't want to work anymore. The47:48world is too hard.47:50I don't want to pay bills anymore. I47:51just want to live for the gospel and I47:53just want to hear the gospel and 24/7. I47:55don't want to do any of those things."47:57Are you you're going to tell her what?47:58Yeah, come on, move in this car with me48:00or slide over on the park bench, right?48:03You can be homeless, too. But the Bible48:05says so many things about sloth,48:06complacency, being lazy. Talks about48:09this. But the person was pacifying self48:12so that they didn't have to and48:13accessorizing the word so that they48:15didn't have to work, right? And then she48:18Oh, I don't have a homeless mindset. You48:20know, I'm not that type of person. I48:22said, "No, but you want to do everything48:23you want to do." And that technically is48:25the mindset of a person who just doesn't48:28care about God, genuinely, right? And so48:31I was speaking and speaking and speaking48:32and and and it was really cool was this48:34person was still in the Discord and they48:35were listening, which was great. But48:37that's just an example of people, too,48:40who sit there and go, "You know what?48:42I feel like God is doing this. I don't48:44know what he's doing, but like he's48:46going to give me the power and he's48:47going to give me the strength." But is48:49God really limited? I don't think God48:51would allow people to genuinely become48:54like that, right? But there are people48:55who are like that. And this other48:56brother was also apparently homeless.49:00And when he saw that, he was like, "Yo,49:02you're right. I am a new creature.49:04I'm the precious son of God. Why would49:07God allow me to do that? No." And he49:09straight up said it. "I didn't like the49:11government. I'll be real." And he was49:12real about it. He's like I'm like you49:14should you can go and get governmental49:15housing. You can apply. Like use the49:17heart to do these things. Use these49:18resources. We taxpayers pay money to49:20help you guys do this. But he straight49:22up said it, "I don't like the government49:24though." I said, "Right. But the But God49:26can't use the government? He can't help49:27them get you a place and get you on your49:29feet and grow and have a healthy mindset49:31not to be so isolated? Cuz God didn't49:33want us to be isolated, right? There's a49:35difference between isolation and49:37solitude." And he was like, "Whoa, all49:39right." And he picked up his heart,49:41cleansed it, and was like, "You know49:42what? I'm going to start applying for49:43for jobs." Did he go and do it? I don't49:45know. But at least at the very end, he49:47saw it as like, "Dang." He's sitting49:49here going, "God wants me to be home."49:51Like no, he would never want that.49:54Right? If I'm homeless, I can't show49:56people like, "Yeah, look at God working49:58in me. I'm homeless." It's like, that's50:00not going to do anything. Right? If50:01you're sitting there going, "I was this.50:03I was trusting my thoughts." This kind50:05of touches people more and again, ties50:07back to Jesus Christ. Would Jesus do50:09that? Did he allow his people to starve?50:13Right? Maybe a little bit, sure. But,50:14did he allow them to go completely50:16homeless? To be completely like left and50:19forsaken essentially? No, of course not.50:22So, there are people like that, too, who50:24will sit there, I've noticed, and go,50:26"I want to live for the gospel."50:29And later that that person, you know,50:31uh the first person I was addressing50:33leaked it out, too, and and kept it50:34real, which I respect 100%. She was50:37like, "You know what? Um yeah, I I I50:40would go and talk about God at my work,50:42and they would find a way to get me50:43fired."50:45So, what she did was, "I'm not going to50:46work at all then." Like, that's still50:48you at the center of it making that50:50decision, right? And so, it's it's not50:53it wasn't like50:54"If I get fired from every single job,50:56I'm still going to apply and try to work50:58because I have faith that God is going50:59to give me the job where I need to be."51:01She made the decision and then said,51:03"Look, God did this for me." It's like,51:05no, you you you did that yourself, and51:07then you blanket God over that, which is51:09not okay. Right? And I said that out of51:11love, and I showed up the one thing I51:13tied it back to was51:15if you think about it, what does it51:17benefit me, Johnny, to tell you these51:19things?51:20Like,51:21what does it matter that you're homeless51:23in your car or unhoused in your car, as51:26they say politically, right? Unhoused.51:28Like, what does it matter to me whether51:30you you're housed or not? It doesn't51:31benefit me at all. But, why am I telling51:33you this? And I would say, "Please,51:34don't harden your heart. Listen51:35carefully to what I'm saying." Would51:37Jesus, tying it back to him, want51:39something like this? You think he would51:41want that? No, right? You want that.51:44Right? Cuz you don't want people to It's51:46too painful. I get it when somebody51:47rejects you for your faith. So, what do51:49you do? I'm not going to tell preach to51:51nobody. I'mma just sit here and do my51:54own thing, right? And she was again51:56combative. Well, you don't know. I'm51:57preaching to many people. And I'm like,51:59well, if you're preaching to many52:00people, you wouldn't be in this Discord,52:01respectfully. You'd be making disciples.52:03You'd be leading people. You'd be52:04guiding them. And you wouldn't be able52:06to tell you How can If someone comes to52:08you and goes, "Hey, why are you52:09homeless? Like, I see you're on fire for52:10God, but like he can't get you a home?"52:13What are you going to say? "Well, you52:14know, it's okay because this is where52:16God wants me." It's like he doesn't52:18though. Nowhere in the Bible does he52:20say, "I want you homeless."52:22ever. Instead, he goes, "I have mansions52:24for you. Walk boldly. Receive it boldly.52:28I have prepared things for you. Take it52:30by force." Even says heaven, take it by52:32force. But we're like, "Nah, I'm good. I52:35don't like This is the problem with52:37flesh. This is the problem with52:38interpretation. This is the problem with52:40I want to do what I want, and I'm going52:42to add God on top of that." And that's52:44very, very like sad at the end of the52:46day, right? Cuz people don't even see52:48that.52:49So, yeah.52:51>> Very great answer. Um I want to shift52:54off a little bit as we're kind of52:55wrapping up this segment where we've52:57been52:57uh this episode. Can you explain mate53:00scriptures, and can you explain the53:02first time you started seeing the53:04connections, and then how do you how53:06would you53:08Let's start there. Well, explain mate53:10scriptures, explain how you discovered53:12it, and then that explain how would a53:13beginner Christian read the Bible to53:15also see something similar.53:17>> Yeah, 1 second. Let me pull up the53:19verse. It's in um Isaiah.53:22>> Guys, if you can't see, he's pulling it53:23up on the Cath Daily app, which you can53:25now get on the App Store.53:27>> That's right.53:27>> Yeah, 1 second.53:29>> Free KJV Bible. You can leave notes in53:31it, highlight, and uh find your own mate53:33scriptures.53:34>> Deep links coming soon so you can send53:36your favorite scriptures.53:38>> So, when you look at Isaiah,53:40uh chapter 34, verse 1653:44says, "Seek ye meaning search you out53:46the book of the Lord and read. So,53:48search, read. No one of these shall53:51fail. So, none of these scriptures will53:53fail. None shall want her mate, right?53:56Mate scripture. For my mouth it hath53:58commanded and its spirit and his spirit54:01it hath gathered them." So, scriptures54:04are always clustered. They're gathered.54:07And scripture interprets scripture. So,54:09think about the analogy God uses, even54:11the imagery of mate. What are mates?54:14Well, when a man and a woman mate, what54:18do they produce? A baby, right? So, in54:20the same way, cross-referencing54:22scripture is going to produce the truth54:25which is the baby, a truth baby. So,54:27when you have one scripture,54:30it can never explain itself is what God54:32is saying.54:33That was an unlock for me when I read it54:35to go, "Whoa, that's why you have to54:38like link scriptures together which I54:40call them cross-referencing." If you54:42guys see me do it in real time, I do it54:44in real time. So, I'll give you an54:45example, right? I'll I'll I'll do it54:47right now in real time for you guys so54:49that you guys can apply it to your54:50lives. So, when you read a passage,54:54the first thing it says is to search.54:56So, you got to search and seek. Then you54:58got to look for the mate.55:00Okay, so how do you do that? Well, let's55:03say55:04we'll use John 1:1 as an example. John55:07chapter 1 verse 1 says, "In the55:09beginning was the word of God. The word55:10was with God. The word was God."55:12Okay, so the word was God. What is the55:14mate scripture that shows that this word55:17is God and this word, right, is is55:20inspired by God, right there? I would55:22think like that. Okay, what's the mate55:24scripture for John 1:1? Mhm. 14 verses55:28down, John 1:14, "The word was made55:31flesh and dwelt among us." So, right55:33there you just created a puzzle, right?55:35Step one, word of God is the word is the55:38book, but I can't just go off of that55:40one verse cuz I don't know the context.55:42Now I'm building context. Now I'm55:44building cross-referencing. Now I'm55:46building research essentially, right?55:48Oh, so this word equates to Jesus55:51Christ. Whoa, interesting. Interesting.55:54Okay, what other verse cuz it's saying55:56that the word is the word of God that55:58dwelt among us. Huh, I don't know the56:01verse, but I remember that there's56:03someone who says somewhere in the Bible56:05it says56:06Emmanuel, God with us. Oh my gosh, so56:09Jesus' name is Emmanuel.56:13Right? Meaning God is with us. Okay, so56:17oh, that's how he gave us Jesus. Not56:19only in the flesh form, in the Bible as56:21well. So now if I want to go meet Jesus56:24who's dwelling among us, it's not a56:26physical thing like a spiritual thing,56:29it's a physical thing, too. I crack open56:31my Bible, go to Core of the Heart Daily,56:33go to the KJV tab. Okay, this is now I'm56:36reading Emmanuel, God with us. So yeah,56:39I'll go Let's say I don't know56:40scripture, right? Of Emmanuel, right?56:44Okay, let's go to Gospel Bot. So what's56:46the scripture56:49for Jesus being Emmanuel56:54in the Bible?56:56And let's wait, okay?56:58Let's wait.56:59The scripture is Matthew 1:22-2357:02and it gives you a full description,57:03which we won't go through, but basically57:05it's saying this is him the holy eternal57:07tabernacle. Okay, so we'll go57:10Matthew 1, we'll go to our Bible app,57:13navigate down to the notes.57:15Matthew chapter 157:1823.57:20Okay?57:24All right. It says, "Behold, a virgin57:27shall be with child and shall bring57:29forth a son, and they shall call his57:31name Immanuel, which being interpreted57:34is God with us.57:36So, right there, we just built from John57:391:1,57:40John 1:14, cross-referencing, to now57:43Matthew 1:23. So, you have three verses57:46now to to build this blockchain,57:48basically, this chain of command, right?57:50Of going the word leads to Jesus, who is57:52the word, who is the Bible, cuz he's57:54with us, God dwelling with us. Whoa,57:57interesting. And you can stop right57:58there. But for me, I don't like to stop.58:01I keep going until I literally run out.58:04Okay, so God with us, well, Jesus said58:06something about the Comforter being with58:09us. He left the Holy Spirit with us.58:12John 16:13,58:14right? Or you can go what's the What58:16What does it mean the Comforter, right?58:17And you can ask it in in, you know,58:19Gospel Bot, and it'll tell you, "Oh, the58:21Comforter is John 16:13, John 14:6." Now58:25I built two more scriptures into it. So,58:27three becomes five. Now you're going58:30boom, boom, boom, boom. And now when58:31you're reading, it's literally scripture58:33interpreting scripture, right? And who58:36is at the center of that all, by the58:37way?58:38Jesus Christ. So, the Holy Spirit is58:41called the spirit of truth. It leads you58:43back to all truth, and it says, "I will58:45remind you of what It will remind you of58:47what I said. He will remind you of what58:50I said." Jesus is speaking here. Well,58:52where is every Where is the thing that's58:53recorded the most of what Jesus said?58:55The Bible. So, the Holy Spirit will58:58always lead you back to the Bible. But I58:59want to go deeper than that. It's called59:01the spirit of truth. So, I start59:02thinking, "Why is it called the spirit59:03of truth? Why not the spirit of59:05obedience? Why not the spirit of, you59:07know, God's righteous hand? Why the59:09truth?" And then I'll be like, "Oh, John59:1114:6, I am the way, the life, the59:14truth." Well, if it leads you back to59:16Immanuel, what is God's other name? What59:18is Jesus called? The life, the truth,59:20the way. Ooh, so59:22the Holy Spirit will lead me back to the59:25truth.59:26The truth is Jesus Christ and the truth,59:29Jesus Christ, is logos, the word. So,59:32right here you just made it full circle.59:34In those six verses, seven verses, it59:37became this one chain of this is how you59:39do59:40This is how you connect it, right? You59:43guys see how my brain is moving? It's59:45going, "Where is Jesus? Where is Jesus?59:47Where is Jesus? What else is Jesus?"59:50It's all Jesus. Versus what you guys do,59:52I'm sorry to say, is Bible roulette.59:55You'll literally sit there, you know,59:56"Father God, Holy Spirit, please guide59:59me." And then you go1:00:00>> [snorts]1:00:01>> boom, and you'll land on one. And1:00:03sometimes you land on Matthew 7:21-23,1:00:06where it says, "Not everyone who says,1:00:08'Lord, Lord,' shall enter my kingdom,1:00:10but those who do the will of my father."1:00:11And now you're like,1:00:13"I just prayed to the Holy Spirit, and1:00:15it's telling me that I I I I I1:00:17I will not enter into heaven. What? Is1:00:20this a sign?" And boom, right there, you1:00:23just took your eyes off of Jesus, and1:00:24you put it back on to yourself, and1:00:26you're like, "Oh, I got to do more now.1:00:28Okay. All right. Hi, how you doing?" And1:00:30someone comes over, you give them Can I1:00:31get some money? Yeah, you can. Yeah.1:00:33Because foundationally now is rocked,1:00:35and you're just like, "Yo, what the1:00:37hell, man? You got Holy Spirit told me."1:00:40And this is when Satan's in the back1:00:41like rubbing his hands like Birdman,1:00:43like "Got him. This guy thinks he has1:00:45Holy Spirit. He don't know that it's the1:00:47unholy spirit that's been telling him to1:00:49do that." And so, this is what I'm1:00:50trying to change in people. I seen1:00:52people straight up kiss their Bible.1:00:55"Thank you, Father God." And then they1:00:57boom, and they do it, and then they'll1:00:59come to me. "Johnny, it says those who1:01:01endure till the very end, but bro, I1:01:02fold all the time. Am I not going to1:01:04heaven?" And I'm just like, "When you1:01:05read the Bible, did it make you lighter1:01:07or heavier?" "Well, this feels heavy."1:01:10That's not what the Bible is supposed to1:01:11do. It's supposed to make you lighter,1:01:13cuz Jesus literally says, "My yoke is1:01:16light.1:01:17It's not burdened.1:01:19Those who are heavy burdened and laden,1:01:21come unto me, and I will give you rest.1:01:23I'm you you if the Bible is Jesus and1:01:25he's telling you he's going to give you1:01:26rest, when you crack open the Bible, you1:01:29should feel rest. What do people do?1:01:31They feel lazy, they feel tired, they1:01:33feel sleepy, they feel everything except1:01:35rest. What they do is they go, I got to1:01:37work. And so, this is how you're able to1:01:40exegesis scripture is keeping Jesus at1:01:43every line. Trying to search where and1:01:45sometimes it won't pop up for you guys1:01:47like this. It just won't because you're1:01:49not ready for it or maybe your heart is1:01:50like, now I got an unlock here and I1:01:53want to look for unlocks which is1:01:54spiritual dopamine. Now you're idolizing1:01:57wisdom without even realizing it and1:01:59knowledge. So, it won't always chain1:02:02together like this, but that's why you1:02:03have to sit there and go, okay, if I1:02:05can't think the way that Johnny's1:02:07thinking, I shouldn't get mad. I need to1:02:09get into Cot Daily more. I need to1:02:11rewatch the stream with Thons. I need to1:02:13take what he's actually saying and then1:02:16you guys will grow in this way. I1:02:17promise you. I promise you, right? I1:02:19want to share something really really1:02:20deep.1:02:22I used to think the Bible was for1:02:23theologians.1:02:25Straight up. I would look at Pastor and1:02:27how he would blockchain and like link1:02:3020 different scriptures and I'm like,1:02:32yeah, I'm never going to do that. I'm1:02:34never I'll look at Pastor Ocksoo and be1:02:36like, how many times have you read the1:02:37Bible? Triple digits from the age of 191:02:40to 82, he's still reading the Bible1:02:41today. I'm not like Pastor John who's1:02:43read it multiple times, right? At that1:02:45time I'm just like garbage. I literally1:02:47couldn't do anything. So, my heart was1:02:49was always, I'm never going to1:02:51understand the Bible. Never going to be1:02:53I'm going to literally1:02:55quote only Hebrews 10:14 cuz it's my1:02:57saving verse, Romans 3:23 and 24, John1:02:593:16 and that's pretty much it. Those1:03:01were my rotating verses, right? Even in1:03:04the beginning, I'll share a funny story,1:03:05too.1:03:07I would just tie everything to one1:03:08verse.1:03:10You know, in the Bible it says those who1:03:12overcome, where is that? Yeah, Romans1:03:13chapter 3 verse 23. That's actually not1:03:15the verse. It would say that, right? And1:03:17then they would catch me, too. They'd1:03:18open it up and go,1:03:19>> [laughter]1:03:20>> "Oh, this one says for all fall short of1:03:23the glory of God." Oh, it does it? You1:03:25know, I had to like play it off. Really?1:03:27Oh, well well, it was somewhere like my1:03:29bad. And but the whole point is, right?1:03:30I would do this. So, I would do that1:03:32because I didn't know these things. I1:03:34didn't I it took me years to learn these1:03:36things. What we're doing, which took us1:03:38years, we're teaching you guys like1:03:40literally in one episode. One episode.1:03:42You try what I'm I'm saying, literally1:03:45it's going to change your perspective.1:03:47And but again, it takes time. Do you1:03:49receive grace from God to do that? Cuz1:03:51if you guys just unlock the Bible, at1:03:53the end you're going to miss, just like1:03:55the Pharisees, reading the Bible for1:03:56unlocks versus reading the Bible for1:03:58Jesus. The Bible is Jesus, y'all. The1:04:01Bible is the word of God. The Bible is1:04:04God. You have to trust and believe that.1:04:07So, guys, when you read the Bible, it's1:04:09it's so important. You could be reading1:04:11it wrong. So, if you're weaponizing it,1:04:13you're reading it wrong. If you're1:04:15sitting here and looking for yourself1:04:16instead of the savior, you're probably1:04:19not reading it scripturally and1:04:20biblically. If the scripture tells you1:04:22what it is, which is it's God, you have1:04:24to see God in every line, not self in1:04:26every line, okay? And more the most1:04:29important thing is to read the Bible to1:04:31accept, not to understand, because1:04:33everything proceeds out of acceptance,1:04:35including wisdom. Once you acknowledge1:04:37and accept something, that's when change1:04:39and transformation comes. It's the1:04:41byproduct of that. Don't get it twisted.1:04:43Don't do I'm looking for change and1:04:45transformation and I focus on that1:04:46first, but I don't accept and I filter1:04:48everything and I checkbox everything to1:04:50then match my standard, to then somehow1:04:52create a new standard, right? Like I say1:04:54all the time,1:04:55the mind1:04:56and the thoughts that got you into1:04:58prison cannot be the same thoughts and1:05:00the same the keys to get you out of1:05:02prison, right? You you have to change1:05:04you have to shift this narrative and1:05:05perspective, okay? And that pretty much1:05:07wraps it for this segment of the1:05:10podcast. Don't trust your thoughts.1:05:12don't trust your feelings,1:05:14follow the word of God. If you're not in1:05:16the word, you are in your feelings. If1:05:18you are in the word, you're most likely1:05:20not in your feelings. You're grounded,1:05:22you're linking the chain together,1:05:24you're seeing Jesus in every line, and1:05:26you're1:05:27without even realizing it, the byproduct1:05:29is your life starts to level up crazy,1:05:31and you're just more peaceful, and it's1:05:33amazing. And we created an app,1:05:36literally in the in your1:05:38in the palm of your hands to just walk1:05:40you through it. And I genuinely believe1:05:43if you spend a year with this, 6 months1:05:45with this, a month with it, you're just1:05:48going to see some kind of change. It's1:05:49it's it's there there's no way1:05:51if you don't if you apply yourself,1:05:53there's no way you're not going to1:05:54change spiritually. You're you're you're1:05:56going to gain something for sure. Most1:05:57importantly, you're going to gain the1:05:59knowledge and the wisdom of God in a1:06:00humble1:06:02and and blessed way.1:06:04Guys, our live events are getting super1:06:06packed. We genuinely need some help, so1:06:08we're looking for a live events1:06:10producer.1:06:11>> So, I'm going to be completely honest1:06:13about this. There's a lot of moving1:06:14pieces from booking a church, finding1:06:16the vendors, scanning in the people, the1:06:18volunteers, the merch. Like, there's so1:06:20many moving pieces that I'm just going1:06:22to say right now, we're looking for a1:06:23professional. We're looking for someone1:06:24who has done this before. If you're1:06:26watching and you're like, "Oh, I think I1:06:27can help their live events." Honestly,1:06:29you're probably not the pick. But if1:06:30you're watching and you're saying, "Oh,1:06:31I've done this before. I've thrown live1:06:32events. I've even maybe worked in a1:06:34church space." Please reach out. We're1:06:35looking for a killer, someone who can1:06:37really coordinate everything. It's a ton1:06:39of moving pieces. At the end of the day,1:06:40it's nothing too hard or complicated,1:06:42but it's a lot of details, a lot of1:06:44moving pieces, and for us to be doing1:06:46this every single month, once a month,1:06:47or even more, it's almost impossible1:06:49because we each run different branches1:06:50of the business. So, for us to do these1:06:52ourselves, it's becoming unscalable. So,1:06:54if you think you know you know, I can1:06:55come in, take this over, I'll learn from1:06:58them, we'll teach you everything, and1:06:59you think, "I can take the information1:07:01and go throw them live events every1:07:03single month in a different city for the1:07:04rest of the next 10 years." If you're1:07:06hearing this and you think that's you,1:07:08please reach out. We pay super1:07:09competitively. We have honestly a really1:07:11good pay for you guys cuz we really want1:07:12to do this. Live events are super1:07:14important to Johnny and all of us and1:07:15all of you guys. So, we want to keep1:07:17doing them. We want to keep making them1:07:18super amazing. And that's why honestly1:07:20we're looking for a killer. Like it1:07:22We're not really going to hire anyone to1:07:24test them out or try to train. We're1:07:25looking for someone who has done this1:07:26before and is ready to do it for us. And1:07:28we're going to pay you very handsomely1:07:30for it. So, please reach out. The best1:07:32way to do it, there's a link in the1:07:33description. There's a job application1:07:34that details everything and the pay. So,1:07:36please fill it out. Please pay attention1:07:38to the instructions. There's a lot of1:07:40instructions that if you don't pay1:07:41attention to them, we're not even going1:07:42to look at your application. So, cutting1:07:44to the chase, we're looking for a live1:07:46events killer. If you are that person or1:07:48if you know that person, if someone at1:07:50your church maybe throws the events, if1:07:51you want to recommend it to a friend or1:07:53a family member, we want an awesome1:07:55beast live events producer.1:07:57>> The last thing I'll add is you're going1:07:59to be handling everything from 1,000 to1:08:015,000 person live events. We do prison1:08:03ministry, overseas trips. We want to do1:08:06We have big plans to take Core of the1:08:07Heart global and you would be the1:08:10linchpin that controls all of that. So,1:08:12with that being said, again, like Aaron1:08:14said, I'm only harping it again,1:08:17there's a lot of people that are1:08:18applying because you have a heart for1:08:19the mission mission, which is great.1:08:21But, only because of past experiences,1:08:23we have a very particular vision of what1:08:26this person needs to be. We're also1:08:27being advised by people that have done1:08:29this at extremely high level who are1:08:31helping us vet the applications. So,1:08:33it's going to be a very1:08:36like select group of people that are1:08:38looking at your application. So, please1:08:39do not be offended if we don't pick you.1:08:41Just understand we have a lot of input1:08:44and we are very specific on what we1:08:46need. So, we're very appreciative if you1:08:48try, but please again understand that1:08:50we've we've gone through a lot of ups1:08:52and downs to understand what we need or1:08:53want.1:08:54>> So, if you want to apply, the link is in1:08:56the description. Also, for anyone else1:08:57still listening, if you want to come to1:08:59these awesome live events, text in after1:09:01to 323-613-35771:09:05for free live events in a city near you.1:09:07>> Or download Heart of the Heart Daily.1:09:09>> I genuinely want to thank you guys for1:09:12tuning in and just supporting Heart of1:09:13the Heart. Without you guys, we1:09:15obviously we wouldn't be able to go1:09:17global. And so we are looking for that1:09:20that perfect piece, right, to1:09:23take us global and help us with the live1:09:24event. So if that's you, we really do1:09:27appreciate you guys for for applying and1:09:30hope to work with you guys soon.1:09:31>> We finished the streamathon what,1:09:34technically1:09:352 days ago?1:09:362 days ago?1:09:37>> Yeah.1:09:37>> Yeah, 2 days ago.1:09:39And1:09:40there was a bunch of things that you1:09:42guys, as I'm reading the comments, I was1:09:44able to see that you guys really loved1:09:46about it. The number one thing I loved1:09:48>> What was the streamathon for people that1:09:50missed out?1:09:51>> Okay, so the streamathon, we went live1:09:53every single morning for the whole month1:09:55of May 9:00 a.m. And I basically walked1:09:58you guys through a version of my morning1:10:01routine that allowed me to read the1:10:03Bible front to back 27 times. What I1:10:05taught you guys through that was1:10:07application, number one, how to not only1:10:09read the Bible to accept but to apply it1:10:11to your life, right? And we went through1:10:14things [clears throat] like the first1:10:15week was the diagnosis. What sin is an1:10:18identity,1:10:20not an action. Your thoughts and1:10:21feelings are con men, they can trick1:10:23you. You you know, they give you one1:10:25good thought, leads into five other1:10:27disastrous, crazy, despairing thoughts.1:10:29And then we talked about the will of1:10:31God, we talked about repentance, we1:10:33talked about the diagno- the the cure,1:10:36essentially. How to cure that. And then1:10:37the last couple weeks, we finished out1:10:40strong with how do you apply this to1:10:42your life now? The knowledge that you1:10:43know, right, just like a car, if you you1:10:46can know the accelerator, you can know1:10:47the gas the the brake moves the car and1:10:50stops the car, but if you don't apply1:10:53and jump in, you're going to stay in1:10:54that parking lot, right, until you do.1:10:55And so a lot of you guys loved loved1:10:59absolutely I think we got like 75,0001:11:01downloads for the for the app within 11:11:04month which is crazy as heck.1:11:08You guys collectively we had like 17,0001:11:11reviews like from App Store as well as1:11:14Play Store Android and Apple.1:11:17Nuts, it went nuts. But the number one1:11:19thing that I realized with you guys and1:11:21what you really got what you guys really1:11:22liked. Obviously you loved the1:11:24devotionals but that was kind of the1:11:25front-facing thing. As we dove deeper1:11:28into the app and kind of educated you1:11:30guys more on it. You guys really liked1:11:32the way I read the Bible number one. You1:11:35liked how I cross-referenced the Bible1:11:37number two. Number three these were all1:11:39tied by the way. You loved the Gospel1:11:41Bot how we answered questions and how it1:11:44answered the questions the way I1:11:45answered them almost identically. So1:11:48yeah, I wanted to just that's what1:11:50inspired this episode was to go you know1:11:51what? Let me go a little deeper on how1:11:54to read the Bible because I could see1:11:55the comments where it's like you make it1:11:58so simple Johnny. We want to do this1:12:00they were begging to have the Stream1:12:01with John extended.1:12:03They were literally asking me Johnny can1:12:05we do 100 days? Can we do a year? And1:12:08I'm like yeah, if you give me some1:12:10money. I mean anyway, so [laughter]1:12:12anyways but1:12:13>> Wait wait be honest. How hard was that?1:12:15Cuz they don't see what happens on1:12:17behind the scenes. They don't see that1:12:18like1:12:19>> You still had to continue your whole1:12:20life and1:12:21>> Dude, it was literally the hardest thing1:12:25to date.1:12:26More than speak public speaking more1:12:28than anything because we would literally1:12:30have podcast people we'd have computer1:12:33people who built our PC and they're like1:12:35we don't know what's wrong. Things just1:12:37keep breaking.1:12:38You guys were part of that too. The1:12:40first day the app broke. I mean it was1:12:42just nuts. There was so much1:12:44animosity was like commotion going on.1:12:47It was just crazy. It was like a1:12:49free-for-all digitally, right? And you1:12:51guys were1:12:52>> don't1:12:52Oh, yeah, sorry. What people don't1:12:54realize is1:12:55Johnny would film and we would want to1:12:57get out a video that same day so that1:12:59people can follow along the Streamathon1:13:02in real time and to do that with your1:13:04like sinking an app team, you're sinking1:13:07a content team, an editor, uh filming1:13:10the content. Johnny's got Walmart1:13:12internet and like all of that together1:13:15plus he had to go on the road at times1:13:18and so we had to figure out how to keep1:13:19everything mobile and you know, when1:13:21you're in hotels and things like that,1:13:23you don't you don't know what their1:13:24internet speed is.1:13:25>> Yeah.1:13:25>> It was just one time we got off a plane1:13:27and we had to literally sit in the1:13:29corner of a hotel lobby so he could1:13:30continue to do it. It was like there was1:13:33so many obstacles behind the scenes just1:13:35to make sure that we could stick to this1:13:36daily. So1:13:37>> Yeah.1:13:37>> It was a challenge all the way through.1:13:38>> that you were traveling like 10 of the1:13:4030 days.1:13:41>> Yeah.1:13:41>> Literally every week.1:13:42>> the Streamathon was like on the road1:13:44mobile rig.1:13:45>> Yeah.1:13:46>> Just it was crazy.1:13:47>> Crazy. That's dedication right there.1:13:49But on top of all of that, coming back1:13:51and having this expectation like, "Oh,1:13:53okay, we're we're we're home we're home1:13:55base now. My internet should be1:13:57working." Internet would crash.1:13:59You know, my Elgato little uh capture1:14:02card should be working. It literally is1:14:04working the whole night when I'm live1:14:06streaming to people. The next morning I1:14:08open up Streamlabs. This like my face is1:14:11this stretched out, you know, the the1:14:13screen is like this tiny, the text is1:14:15over here.1:14:17Fix it again. The next morning same1:14:19thing would happen.1:14:20>> Same thing would happen and I'm like,1:14:21"Literally every single morning there1:14:23was a hiccup." One way, shape, or form1:14:25digitally. And of course, I was like,1:14:27"That's the enemy attacking." genuinely1:14:29because how is it that up until the1:14:31Streamathon everything was good. It was1:14:34right on the day of the Streamathon1:14:35things started to just go off. And then1:14:37I recognized that1:14:38>> [clears throat]1:14:39>> the enemy doesn't want 75,000 people1:14:41downloading the app, growing, and now1:14:44I'm we're getting emails and Discord and1:14:46messages of going, "Wow, we started the1:14:48stream-a-thon and we literally are1:14:51continuing what you what you taught us1:14:53in those 30 days." And that makes me1:14:55happy. Even though it's been the second1:14:56day, it's so cool for people to message1:14:58me and go And some of my homies, my1:15:00friends who are in my gang, messaged me1:15:02this morning was like, "Hey bro, I'm1:15:03going to come to your church next1:15:04Sunday." He was supposed to come this1:15:06Sunday, but he's like, "I'm going to1:15:07come next Sunday cuz you're not here1:15:08basically." But um I was in your1:15:11stream-a-thon and he he he he basically1:15:13say started at day 15. Which was crazy.1:15:16Day 15. And then we had a youngster too1:15:18was like, "Bro, do you actually believe1:15:20in those things?" He jumped in on the1:15:22last four days of the stream-a-thon,1:15:24downloaded the app. He was literally1:15:26like just blown away of of of going,1:15:29"Man, I wanted to become Christian, but1:15:31like I don't I didn't know where to1:15:33start." And stream-a- The stream-a-thon1:15:35was the place to start. And and he heard1:15:37me say1:15:38which we do. We have the VODs uploaded1:15:40from day one all the way to day 30. So,1:15:42if you guys want to start it over for1:15:43those who have any We're like, "Wait,1:15:45what is this thing? I I didn't even hear1:15:46about this." You can go back and watch1:15:48every single day and relearn everything.1:15:52It's going to be amazing. All you need1:15:53to do is download the app, Core the Hard1:15:55Daily. But it was cool. It was super1:15:56cool. Yeah.1:15:58>> Dude, I thought it was such a cool thing1:16:00for our small team to be able to execute1:16:02it and we're going to have We got so1:16:03many ideas of how to make this better in1:16:05the future. But it's exactly what you1:16:07said there at the end.1:16:09The purpose of why I remember why Johnny1:16:13was like, "I want to do this." is to1:16:14give people a foundation of what it1:16:16means to walk spiritual life because1:16:18every day this community is growing and1:16:21he's sitting in there in the live asking1:16:23the answering the same questions over1:16:25and over and over. So, we put our heads1:16:27together and we're like, "What is the1:16:28best way to give people the foundation?"1:16:31If you do these 30 days, your life is1:16:34going to change after the first day.1:16:35You're going to You're going to be able1:16:36to understand and read the Bible like1:16:38you've never heard before. But at the1:16:39end of the month, you're going to have a1:16:41sense of peace1:16:43where you're just kind of like it's less1:16:44about like am I reading the Bible right?1:16:46Is am I praying to God perfectly? How do1:16:48I apply the Bible to my life? You kind1:16:50of start to let go of the wheel and you1:16:52really understand what it means to have1:16:53a relationship versus this I don't know,1:16:56my whole life it was very transactional.1:16:57It's like am I behaving properly to get1:16:59blessed or whatever it is. So um yeah,1:17:02it's a it's a really all the 30-day uh1:17:05videos are on you a YouTube playlist and1:17:06inside the app. So all you got to do is1:17:08just download and follow along and it'll1:17:10change your life.1:17:11>> Yeah. Yeah, I think what's the coolest1:17:13thing is1:17:14um seeing the the same people coming1:17:17back and going I'm here at day 28. I've1:17:21been here since day one. And then also1:17:23seeing brand new people going, "Hey,1:17:26what is this? This is awesome." Like1:17:27woah, Gospel Bot, 10 years of your1:17:29training. I see people's hearts change1:17:31cuz everyone's like AI is evil, AI is1:17:34wicked, but as I was in the live telling1:17:36them, "Hey, AI is just a tool. Think1:17:38about the analogy of a knife, right?"1:17:40A knife connected to the in the hands of1:17:43a gang member, a robber is going to hurt1:17:45somebody, but a knife connected to a1:17:47surgeon is going to heal somebody.1:17:49AI is the same way, right? It's just the1:17:51tool. Sure, you can use it to rot your1:17:53brain or you can use it to help build1:17:56your spiritual life. Like it just it is1:17:58what it is. And people started to get1:18:00swayed. I could see them going, "All1:18:02right, this isn't bad." Like they're1:18:04watching me, right? And they're going,1:18:05"Woah, this does answer scripturally.1:18:07Woah, it provides scripture. It1:18:08cross-references things." It's it even1:18:11the Gospel Bot would would would give us1:18:13follow-up questions, which which I think1:18:14is underrated. That's what I was1:18:16highlighting was like, "Okay, that1:18:18question, let's say1:18:20how do I deal with anxiety, right? We we1:18:22dealt we I think it was day like 15 or1:18:2416, someone asked that question. How do1:18:26I deal with anxiety? And it wasn't1:18:28enough for them, but underneath was how1:18:31do I say a prayer for anxiety? What1:18:33happens in real time when anxiety hits?1:18:35Like how do I know it's from God? How do1:18:38I know it's not God warning me? These1:18:40follow-up questions that the Gospel Bot1:18:42was spitting out to me was underrated. I1:18:45was like, "Dude, look at this. You guys1:18:46can literally click this. It formulates1:18:48and articulates the question that you1:18:50don't really know how to like ask,1:18:51maybe." And it's so perfect and it's so1:18:54adjacent and in line with the actual1:18:56problem at hand. So, it was just really,1:18:58really cool to be able to see that.1:19:00I think the number one coolest thing1:19:02though for me is when I when I asked you1:19:05guys to just give an honest review, I1:19:07wasn't expecting you guys on the App1:19:10Store to genuinely put paragraphs and1:19:14paragraphs of this is how it helped me,1:19:17this is what it did for me, this is how1:19:19it's going to help you, this is how I1:19:21saw when it was like1:19:22I sent this to my daughter and then her1:19:24daughter was like, "I am the daughter.1:19:26Like, I actually my mom sent me this1:19:28app." And she's writing a paragraph and1:19:29I'm like, "Whoa." So, I genuinely1:19:31believe, humbly, right? I say this. This1:19:35is going to be the last spiritual growth1:19:37app you'll ever need. That's how I1:19:38genuinely feel and that's how what is1:19:41it? 17,000 other people feel. Look at1:19:43there's it's not just like one line,1:19:45"Oh, not bad. Pretty cool. Pretty fast."1:19:47No, this thing is like, "I was1:19:49struggling with addiction. Popped it1:19:51into Gospel Bot. Allowed me to then1:19:53overcome that addiction and now I'm1:19:55applying it to my life every single1:19:56day." I'm just like, "What? It's It's1:19:59literally changing people's lives." How1:20:02can something artificial help1:20:04spiritually change somebody?1:20:06Crazy because the heart behind it is1:20:08still the gospel, which I think is so,1:20:10so cool. That's one of the coolest1:20:12things that again was a sleeper. I1:20:13didn't even think anything of that. I'm1:20:15like, "All right, people are going to1:20:16get right with God." No, this thing is1:20:18actually not only getting right with1:20:19God,1:20:20teaching you how to apply and the1:20:22comment I'm getting the most is,1:20:24"Thanks, Johnny. We can do it like you1:20:25now. Like, we see now where your brain1:20:28is going, how you're thinking about1:20:30verses, how you're reading the Bible.1:20:32Whoa, like it's leveling me up. That one1:20:34thing is unlocking it. It's shifting my1:20:36perspective. And there there there's1:20:38comments of people going, "I feel less1:20:41stressful. I came in here with anxiety.1:20:43Day 20, I have no more anxiety. I'm1:20:45sitting here. I'm growing. I'm learning.1:20:47I'm peaceful. Bro, I don't know what it1:20:50is. And I'm consistent." Some other1:20:52people were keeping it real. "The one1:20:54thing I got out of it was consistency.1:20:56Like I just read the Bible every day and1:20:57yeah, I'm less stressed. I don't know1:20:59why." like, "Because of freaking, you1:21:01know, you're welcome." Basically, right?1:21:02But it it was really really amazing to1:21:05just see the multitude of different1:21:07people from different walks, new, young,1:21:10old, whatever, to sit there and kind of1:21:13come collectively and go, "Wow, this app1:21:16has for sure helped me. The Streamathon1:21:17has helped me. And I just feel more1:21:19confident and bold to continue this1:21:22spiritual life." Which was like an1:21:23anomaly for a lot of people. Like,1:21:25"Yeah, we know spiritual life is good,1:21:27but how do we obtain that? How do we1:21:28apply that?" After the 30 days, I would1:21:31say a majority, like 80 to 90%, knew1:21:33right away, "Okay, this is how you walk1:21:35spiritual life now." And it's like a1:21:37burden lifting off of their shoulders.1:21:38You can sense it in the chat. It's so1:21:40cool. So cool.1:21:42>> The reviews are crazy. If you guys want1:21:44to read them, go to the App Store or1:21:45just go to corbible.com and read them. I1:21:48was blown away. And also, if you guys1:21:50experienced the the 30-day Streamathon1:21:53or if you guys have enjoyed the app1:21:54until this point, leave a five-star1:21:56review because it truly helps other1:21:58people that are like, "What is this app1:21:59for? How does this apply to my life?"1:22:01They're reading those reviews, right?1:22:03So, it's a super big help for the1:22:06outside community. If you could be1:22:07thoughtful, and if you need a little1:22:09like structure, like just write What did1:22:11Where did you start out Where did you1:22:13start off as spiritually in your own1:22:15life? And then how did this app and how1:22:17did Pastor Johnny's teachings help you?1:22:20Now, that's enough for someone to be1:22:21like, "Oh, this could maybe help me." Or1:22:23"Oh, I I also struggle with that."1:22:25That's great, you know? So, um talk1:22:27about your favorite feature and things1:22:28like that.1:22:29>> Yeah. And yeah, it's crazy that all of1:22:30the 17,000 reviews it's five stars. We1:22:33keep saying 17,000, but it's it's all1:22:35just like a bunch of one star. We have1:22:3617,000 one star. No, they're all five1:22:38stars. And the only ones that aren't1:22:40five stars are like people asking about1:22:42like different membership questions.1:22:43Like it's not really an app review.1:22:45Which also I want to remind you if you1:22:46have feedback, if you're not feeling so1:22:48five stars, go to coreoftheheart.com,1:22:50there's a feedback tab, leave all your1:22:51feedback there. But if you are feeling1:22:53five stars, go leave a five star review.1:22:55>> Yeah.1:22:56>> Uh and also share like in the comments1:22:58too for you guys watching through1:22:59YouTube or like Spotify or whatever,1:23:02share like what you guys liked about the1:23:04Streamathon, what you guys like about1:23:06the app. I mean, it it really just you1:23:08guys know that people read comments, you1:23:10guys read comments, and it really does1:23:12help other people. In a way it's it's a1:23:13form of evangelism, too. We're not just1:23:16out here farming for for reviews. We1:23:17genuinely want you guys to to for people1:23:20to read this and go, "Whoa, this can1:23:22help me, too." And you guys are helping1:23:24us help other people, which is super1:23:26super important when it comes down to it1:23:28because, you know, spiritual life is1:23:29also communal in a lot of ways, right?1:23:31So, yeah, I I I know I purchase stuff1:23:33through reviews, too, and it just really1:23:35helps people to kind of be like, "Whoa,1:23:37this is an unbiased honest review." So,1:23:40yeah.1:23:40>> The last thing I'll add is1:23:42we have so much on the road map based on1:23:45your guys' feedback and based on how1:23:47people have engaged with the app. We1:23:48have so much on the road map that's1:23:50going to roll out. So, for for us to1:23:52have 17,000 five star reviews today made1:23:55me feel really good because that means1:23:57even in the earliest version, you guys1:23:59are being impacted in one way or1:24:01another. All I just want to say is this,1:24:04this app is going to get 100 times1:24:07better, 100.1:24:09>> Like1:24:10I we can't say what the road map is, but1:24:12I know for a fact it's going to be 1001:24:14times better in 6 months.1:24:16Be 100 times better in 6 months, and1:24:18what it's going to be is more1:24:20personalization, more customization, and1:24:23it's just going to be an overall1:24:24smoother experience where this is just a1:24:26tool that will actually help you when1:24:27you need it. Cuz ultimately, that's what1:24:29all like selfishly, that's what I don't1:24:31even know if it's selfishly. That's just1:24:32what I want, you know?1:24:34>> Yeah. You want the unlocks, you want to1:24:36level up, you want to have more peace.1:24:38These are all things that are okay to1:24:39have, you know, 100% and we will teach1:24:41you guys how to do it. Um how I a gang1:24:44member like me went from1:24:46compounded [clears throat] trauma to be1:24:48able to read the Bible and enjoy the1:24:49Bible, to be able to exegite it like I1:24:52do in the Bible classes every Saturday,1:24:54right? With you guys, to be able to read1:24:55somebody's heart posture and go, "Oh,1:24:58that's what they need for guidance, not1:24:59let me just guess in what I think and1:25:01feel." So, all of these things like we1:25:03are literally teaching you guys. I've1:25:05said this a thousand times and I'll say1:25:07it a million times more, right? It's1:25:10basically I'm here to disciple people.1:25:13We are We are called It's a commandment1:25:15in the Bible that we we have to disciple1:25:17make disciples of many nations. I don't1:25:19want you guys to just feel good. I want1:25:21you guys to be able to like1:25:23feel good, but also help other people1:25:26grow and feel good, too, and go, "Wow,1:25:28this is about the Bible. This is what1:25:30helped them." And everything is1:25:32gospel-centered.1:25:33Bet, [clears throat] let's shoot that.1:25:34Let's move forward. When you start to do1:25:36this,1:25:38there's something about just seeing1:25:39somebody else grow and and and be1:25:41nurtured that really not only pleases1:25:44you, obviously, that's important, but it1:25:46pleases God in so many ways. And a lot1:25:48of you guys I know, you have this pure1:25:50heart to want to please God and want to1:25:51be obedient to God. Well, I've learned1:25:54through reading the Bible 27 times,1:25:56having multiple mentors, learning the1:25:58Hebrew, learning the Aramaic, learning1:26:00the Koine Greek to be able to go, "This1:26:02is what the Bible says and what makes1:26:04God happy." And it is the gospel, but1:26:06again, it goes it There's so many layers1:26:09to the gospel. People think the gospel1:26:11is like, you know, the kiddie pool,1:26:12right? It's like stage one. No, the1:26:15gospel is literally the anchor. It's the1:26:17foundation of everything, but if you1:26:19don't know how to apply it or you shift1:26:21off of it, then what it becomes is very1:26:23selfish and then you you experience1:26:25burnout, you experience depression, you1:26:27experience feeling less than, you1:26:29experience all of these things because1:26:30you shifted off of that, right? And so1:26:33we we realign you guys. Think about the1:26:35app as like a spiritual chiropractor.1:26:37It's just going to realign you back when1:26:39you're misaligned. That single-handedly1:26:42is going to just help you as a tool to1:26:44guide you back so you don't deviate. Not1:26:46only in spiritual life, but spiritual1:26:48bleeds into everything else, physical,1:26:49mental, emotional. And when you have a1:26:52guide, a mentor to guide you through1:26:54these things, it's just it's it's an1:26:55amazing thing. It it it really does1:26:58become very very simple and easy. I have1:27:00to thank Pastor Kim, Pastor John because1:27:02they made it that simple for me to go,1:27:05"Hey, this is how you read heart1:27:06posture." I learned and that's what I'm1:27:07doing with you guys. I want you guys to1:27:09get to that level and I truly believe1:27:11that you can, you know, if you continue1:27:13to follow the app and continue to follow1:27:15us, you will see your lives will level1:27:17up. And most of you guys, Core the1:27:18Heart, you can speak up. You've leveled1:27:20up already. 100,000%1:27:23came in with addiction, lust, envy,1:27:25whatever, kick that to the side. And so1:27:27it's really really cool, right? We're1:27:28not just like, "Look at our views. We're1:27:30amazing." No, we're actually helping you1:27:32guys become warriors for the kingdom,1:27:34become more peaceful, become, you know,1:27:37loving and nurturing and empathetic and1:27:39compassionate and all of that together.1:27:40It's really really cool. Really really1:27:42cool. Nobody told you that faith would1:27:44come with this many unanswered1:27:45questions. You pray, you read, you fast,1:27:47you tithe, and yet you're still not1:27:50growing. But there are things that1:27:51you're still carrying that you haven't1:27:52said out loud to anybody. Not because1:27:54the answer doesn't exist, but because1:27:56you don't know who to ask. That's1:27:58exactly why every Tuesday I do a group1:28:00mentorship session. You bring your1:28:02questions and whatever you've been1:28:03sitting on, whether it's a decision you1:28:05can't make, past trauma you're still1:28:07working through, or a relationship1:28:09that's draining you. And I answer them1:28:10scripturally, foundationally with1:28:12biblical truths that meets you exactly1:28:15where you are. Even if you're not ready1:28:16to ask a question yet, come and listen1:28:19in because chances are somebody else in1:28:21that room is carrying the same weight1:28:23you are. It doesn't matter if you're new1:28:24in faith or you've been walking with God1:28:26for many years. No question is too1:28:28small, too messy, or even too1:28:30complicated. The group mentorship is an1:28:32exclusive benefit for gold members only.1:28:34To join, download Covenant Eyes daily or1:28:37use the link in the description. I'll1:28:38see you guys Tuesday.1:28:40>> Okay, so I have another random question1:28:41for the end of the episode. We're just1:28:42going to do one question today and it's1:28:43just for Johnny. I repeat, it's just for1:28:46Johnny.1:28:47>> Okay, I'll answer. I'll go first.1:28:49>> [laughter]1:28:50>> Because this episode was like a lot1:28:51about just like the Bible and how to use1:28:53it and how to read it correctly,1:28:56um can you give us the biblical method1:28:58to desexualize your brain?1:29:00>> The biblical method to desexualize your1:29:02brain is, number one, the way that the1:29:05Bible says is to flee. So, you have to1:29:07detox it.1:29:09Meaning, if you're sitting there, don't1:29:11put yourself in predicaments. Like, if1:29:14you're on your phone and your FYP is1:29:16just1:29:17butts and boobs,1:29:20>> you're the Twitch CEO?1:29:21>> Yeah, yeah, the1:29:23>> [laughter]1:29:24>> Jeremy, stop, dude.1:29:26But like1:29:26>> even on Twitch.1:29:27>> Yes, we are. Yes, we are. What are you1:29:29talking about?1:29:30>> don't they don't give us no shine.1:29:32>> Yeah, they will one day. Well, they're1:29:34definitely not going to do it now.1:29:35>> No, he's all he does is put the girls on1:29:37the homepage. He doesn't put1:29:40>> Anyway, [laughter]1:29:40that's funny. That's actually funny.1:29:42>> That's true.1:29:42>> Yeah. Okay, but1:29:44um yeah, so number one, take what the1:29:46Bible says. When you look at Joseph and1:29:48Potiphar's wife, Potiphar's wife was1:29:51extremely lustful, wanted to sleep with1:29:53him, wanted to cheat with him, and he1:29:56just continued to say, "No, no, no." But1:29:58in the end, he would flee. He literally1:30:00ran away from it. Like, there's a1:30:03spiritual detox, there's a social media1:30:04detox. Whatever it is that you put1:30:07yourself in those predicaments. You just1:30:09have to do that, right? If you go to the1:30:11restroom, do not bring your phone with1:30:13you.1:30:14Um if you shower,1:30:15take a shower for the shower, right?1:30:17Don't be in there1:30:20I don't know.1:30:20>> [laughter]1:30:20>> Gooning.1:30:21>> Killing babies.1:30:26>> Don't Don't be in there with Aaron like1:30:28Aaron when he's got his phone.1:30:30>> [laughter]1:30:31>> No, but basically you you get the1:30:34environment has to change. Number one,1:30:36that's just very important. Um but to1:30:38detox from your brain,1:30:40also prayer and meditation really helps1:30:42a lot. To sit there and go, "Father God,1:30:44please help me." And but don't focus1:30:47What I've noticed is people actually1:30:50when they're focusing on overcoming the1:30:53sin,1:30:54it also kind of brings sin1:30:56consciousness, right? It's similar to1:30:58like, "I better not lust. I better not1:30:59lust. I better not lust. I better not1:31:01lust."1:31:01You're only thinking about lust if1:31:03that's the case. No, no No BBLs. No1:31:05BBLs. No BBLs. What are you thinking1:31:07about? BBLs, right? So, you have to1:31:09think about it as like, "No, God freed1:31:11me." Pay a little bit of attention to1:31:13it. Don't be hyper-vigilant. Just be1:31:15like, "Okay, I struggle with lust.1:31:16That's okay. God made me a new1:31:18creature." So, I would say more than1:31:20trying to think about lust, think about1:31:22the scripture that tells you that you're1:31:23a new creature more than about that1:31:25because you'll notice things will just1:31:27taper off. It's the same with working,1:31:29right? Before I used to struggle with a1:31:30lot of anger. Like really, really bad1:31:33all the time. But when I started to work1:31:35with pastor and just preach, I didn't1:31:38even like have a chance to think about1:31:41anger. I was fellowshipping every day1:31:42with him. We would pray together. We'd1:31:45wake up and read the Bible together and1:31:46then share, "Johnny, what did you think1:31:48about this verse?" Right? This is what1:31:49we talked about. Then we would do this1:31:51and I wouldn't even have a chance to1:31:53think about it. But I remember before I1:31:56did all of that, before I moved into the1:31:58church,1:31:59there was like a week or 2-week span1:32:01where I was like my biggest problem is1:32:03anger. I think my my issue is um like1:32:06straight up rage. It's not even anger.1:32:08Anger would be like good at this point,1:32:11right? It's way crazier. And pastor1:32:13would I noticed he would keep doing1:32:14this. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. He does this1:32:16a lot. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Like I'm1:32:17like, what the hell? Why are you1:32:18dismissing me? But I realized it's1:32:20because if I keep hyper focusing on I1:32:23have anger, I have anger, I have anger,1:32:24then all you're going to think about is1:32:27anger. And and I would I would notice1:32:29that about myself. Oh, you're going to1:32:31get angry right now? I would do this.1:32:32Don't get angry. Don't get angry.1:32:35And it was like, dang, I'm not even1:32:36going to get angry, but now I'm thinking1:32:37about anger. Should I be angry about1:32:38this? Dang, I guess I'm angry now. And1:32:40it's it's so wild. So,1:32:43that's why Jesus says focus on the1:32:44things that are not carnal, that that1:32:46they're spiritual, right? Don't focus on1:32:48the carnal. Carnal means flesh. So,1:32:50yeah, if you want to desexualize your1:32:52brain, number one, you have to whatever1:32:54you feed it through your eyes, right?1:32:56Whatever you hear, whatever you listen1:32:57to as well, those are things that are1:32:59going to continuously feed, right? So,1:33:01you got to cover that, number one.1:33:02Number two, you have to remove yourself1:33:04out of those situations. So,1:33:07when a person is like, yeah, I'm I'm a1:33:08OnlyFans or whatever model or whatever,1:33:11you're not going to be able to1:33:12desexualize your mind if you're still1:33:13doing those things, right? I'm not going1:33:15to stop being a gang member if I'm still1:33:17going out doing those things, no matter1:33:18how much I show up on church on Sunday.1:33:21You have to remove yourself from the1:33:22environment, number one. And1:33:23environments can live in your phone,1:33:25right? Environments can live in your1:33:27imagination. So, this is why it's1:33:29important to combat that with physically1:33:31moving from it, but also mentally and1:33:34spiritually moving onto the word. As1:33:36crazy as it sounds, and as simple as it1:33:39sounds, honestly,1:33:40the one thing that's going to get you1:33:42over everything is going to the word.1:33:44Like if you guys just learn to study the1:33:46word the way that I'm telling you guys,1:33:48go through the, you know, core of the1:33:49heart app and learn these things through1:33:51Gospel Bot or whatever, your mind starts1:33:54to actually flow into the scripture and1:33:57fall into the word more than falling1:33:59into the the world, right? And so, this1:34:01is very important. You have to do that1:34:03to desexualize your mind, detox your1:34:06mind, and um1:34:08it's just like anything. You should be1:34:09doing this constantly, right? You should1:34:12make it a routine because when you make1:34:15it a habit and you make it a routine,1:34:16then the byproduct is you don't have to1:34:18struggle with those things anymore,1:34:20right? But, I'mma just be real.1:34:22If you can't remove yourself from the1:34:24environment, chances are you'll be okay1:34:27and then you'll plateau and fall again1:34:29or you'll live like a roller coaster.1:34:31Once you start removing yourself, and1:34:32this is why even in the world, I had a1:34:34homie who they sent to boarding school,1:34:36right? He was trying to join the gang1:34:38and he technically was part of it, but1:34:40his family had a little bit of money,1:34:41they lived in Arcadia, and sent him off1:34:43to like Wisconsin or somewhere where it1:34:45was a boarding school. When he came1:34:47back, the first thing I said was like,1:34:49"Why do you sound white?" That's1:34:50literally He's like, "Bro, it's so1:34:52crazy, bro." Like he's like talking like1:34:54that and I'm just like, "You used to1:34:55sound hella hood, too." But, needless to1:34:58say, he went on, started a family. I1:35:00think he actually ended up joining the1:35:02um1:35:03I think he joined the Marines and he1:35:05caught like pretty up there, right? And1:35:06so, he just changed his life. Now,1:35:09they're Buddhist, they're not Christian,1:35:11but he sent He was like, "I can't handle1:35:12this person." Sent them over basically1:35:15to Wisconsin, removed them from the1:35:17environment. And so many of you guys are1:35:19the same. We had a mod, too, right?1:35:21Danny lived in my neighborhood. He lived1:35:23in Baldwin Park. And though there's a1:35:25lot of crazy hoods out there, straight1:35:27just killers.1:35:28And what he did was he just moved to1:35:30Riverside. He just moved to Paris,1:35:32right? And and and San Bernardino area,1:35:35you know, the IE essentially, and did1:35:37not live that lifestyle, did not1:35:38struggle with gangs and things like that1:35:40anymore cuz he moved away from it. A lot1:35:42of people did that, right? Um so,1:35:43shifting your environment is very, very1:35:45big. And God says, right? Good company1:35:48um evil company corrupts good morals,1:35:50too. So, it is where you're at, you1:35:53know, so, yeah.1:35:54All righty. So, that concludes this1:35:56episode on the Unlearned Wisdom podcast.1:35:59I hope you guys were able to see the1:36:01value in how to read the Bible1:36:02scripturally, how to read to accept, not1:36:04to understand. And um like we always do,1:36:08let us end with prayer. Let's bow our1:36:10heads.1:36:11Bow our heads.1:36:13Father God, thank you so much for giving1:36:15us resources in this world, Lord, to1:36:17show us what the Bible truly is. It is1:36:19your word. It is you, Father God. And1:36:22when you told us that Immanuel, God with1:36:24us, you left the Bible as leaving Jesus1:36:27with us, Lord, through the Holy Spirit1:36:28to then guide us back to reminding us1:36:31what the Bible says, what Jesus said.1:36:34All these words, Lord, they point to1:36:35you. They never point to us, actually.1:36:37And if we focus on that, Father God, we1:36:40will actually have your heart. We will1:36:41mold. We will bend. We'll be able to1:36:43overcome and become more than1:36:45conquerors, as you say in Romans. Lord,1:36:47thank you again.1:36:49There are brothers and sisters who are1:36:51seeking you actively. And in1:36:53sadly, as you know, they are focusing on1:36:56their own works and their own efforts.1:36:58But I'm thankful, God, that you've given1:37:00us Jesus, who finished all of the work1:37:02on the cross. So, I ask also that you1:37:05give them the heart through grace and1:37:06through faith, Lord, and through mercy,1:37:08more than anything, to rest, Father God,1:37:11not work more.1:37:12Please allow any of the brothers who are1:37:14reading and the sisters who are reading1:37:16the Bible, thinking of it as an1:37:18obedience uh instruction manual,1:37:20thinking of it as just history, to1:37:23really see beyond that, Lord. It is you1:37:26literally in the pages. And if we want1:37:28to hear you, Lord, and we want to open1:37:30your mouth, then we can just open the1:37:32Bible. It's not anything that we have to1:37:34do. We don't need signs and miracles and1:37:36wonders. The wonder, the sign, the1:37:38miracle is the preservation of this1:37:40Bible through so many generations, 1,5001:37:43years, 40 different authors. Lord, we're1:37:45so thankful that you were able to1:37:46inspire all of the scripture and protect1:37:49it as well so that it can reach us so1:37:51preciously, so amazingly. Thank you,1:37:53Father God. We leave everything in your1:37:55hands, Lord, and in Jesus' name we pray.1:37:57Amen.1:37:58>> Amen. Like, comment, subscribe.1:38:03Oh my gosh. Leave a comment if you guys1:38:05learned something new today.1:38:08Comment what you learned new.1:38:11>> [laughter]1:38:13>> And if you guys want J stay at home and1:38:15off the pod, leave that comment as well.1:38:17No, I'm kidding. Don't say that.1:38:19>> Keep his dogs in the in1:38:21>> Yeah, the crickets.1:38:22>> [laughter]1:38:23>> Hit me with the didgeridoo.1:38:26>> Hit me No, no. Hit me with the other1:38:27one, Jerome, so I could do it.1:38:38>> Your phone ringing. Oh my gosh.1:38:40[laughter]1:38:41>> What one is that?1:38:43>> I don't know. I just got it here.1:38:45>> It's hilarious, bro. That's so racist.1:38:47>> Wow.1:38:48All right. Like, comment, subscribe.
