Unlearned Wisdom by Johnny Chang
0:00Solomon had a thousand wives and God0:02still called him the wisest man alive.0:04So why can't a man on earth have two0:06wives? Did you know that reading the0:08Bible can be a distraction?0:10>> What?0:10>> Satan wants you to read the scriptures.0:13Bringing people to church doesn't mean0:14that you're bringing them to Christ.0:15Churches have led [music] more people to0:18hell.0:18>> You're about to start a war on the0:19internet.0:20>> I don't care.0:24>> Today we'll be talking about0:26distractions. The ones. Well, anyways,0:28Avon, what? See what I did there? See0:31what I did there? Okay,0:32>> you did. You did good. You did good.0:34Distractions.0:36Um, because I just got distracted. You0:39guys get it? Got it. Good. Cuz you0:42>> so pissed at me. [laughter]0:45>> Sorry.0:45>> But no, today we'll be talking about0:48distractions. The ones you know about.0:49The ones you don't know about. Do you0:51guys know there's distractions that you0:53don't know is actually distractions?0:55That's kind of crazy. And towards the0:58end of the episode, we're going to be0:59talking about how to overcome those1:01distractions. Welcome to another episode1:03on the Unlearn Wisdom podcast with yours1:06truly, Pastor Johnny Chang, where each1:08episode is a gospel- centered lesson1:11that you could apply to your life today.1:15>> Today, today.1:17Like, comment, subscribe, download the1:19audio episode,1:20>> and also download Core of the Heart1:22daily.1:23>> Yeah,1:23>> we got to remind people it's out. You can check how many on1:49coreheart.com1:50>> and read the reviews. They're really1:51good. We're Thank you. And also shout1:54outs to everybody that we met in Europe1:56that's commenting. We're reading your1:58comments.1:59>> Shout out Sweden, Amsterdam, the Dutch,2:04all of you guys. Love you guys very2:05much.2:06>> Super tall toilets. Never forget. Was a2:10struggle.2:10>> It was a struggle. It's crazy. Um, no,2:14but the the inspiration for this episode2:16was cuz I was thinking about all my2:19years being saved and recently having2:22just a global audience. But prior to2:25that, obviously, I was debating people,2:28right? Study the Septuagent. I would2:30study Hebrew, Aramaic, Coney Greek. I'd2:34study the context. I would study2:36everything so that I could win. Just2:40keeping it real. And I didn't realize2:42that that was a distraction for me. Um I2:45wasn't trying to win souls. I was trying2:46to win arguments. So I would go and I2:49would argue every almost every single2:51day. I think the only day I didn't go2:53was Sunday cuz we had church. Oh no,2:55Sunday and Wednesday because we had2:57night service on Wednesdays. We had2:59Sundays at church. I would wake up, we3:02would do our 4:30, 5:00, you know, early3:04morning service. And then after that,3:06I'd hit the beach. I'd hit the beach and3:09start just setting up and waiting for3:11people and then just arguing with them3:14and then listening to what they would3:16say and be like, "Oh, that's they had a3:18pretty valid point." And then come back,3:20research the heck out of it, study it in3:22the Bible, highlight this to counter all3:24of that. And all I was doing was just3:25going there and going, "I'm the boss,3:28little bro." I was trying to little bro3:30people basically. And that was a3:31distraction.3:31>> How long did you do this for?3:33>> I think I took it serious. Overall, it3:36was 5 years, but I took it seriously. I3:39took it seriously like maybe on the3:42fourth year. So, really like a year,3:44>> but a year straight. Four days, six days3:47a week, you were out there.3:48>> Close to six days a week. Five days a3:50week.3:50>> No wonder you're so good at arguing.3:52[laughter]3:53>> It's got the practice in.3:55>> But honestly, that's even crazier3:57knowing the type of your p person you3:59are now because you're not like that at4:00all.4:01>> So, for you to have to undo that habit.4:03>> Mhm. M.4:04>> So, were was there moments like right4:05after the fourth year fourth year where4:07someone would say something and you're4:08like,4:09>> "No, I would always win. I was just4:11really good at gaslighting people,4:14baiting them out, like steel manning4:17their arguments, and then like building4:18it up strong and then poking holes in4:20it."4:21>> Give me Give me an example. Give me one4:22that really stuck out to you where4:23you're like, I got them.4:25>> It really a lot of them were really4:27easy. So, like when people would talk4:29about, you know, the wise men stuff,4:32right? And they would say, you know, I I4:35would ask them like, "How many like,4:37"Have you read the Bible?" And they're4:38like, "Yeah." And I would I would glaze4:40them. Wow, it really sounds like you4:42read the Bible. And they're like it you4:43could it's always this head to it's like4:46this thing where it's like that's me.4:48And literally I would be like, "Wow,4:51that seems like a lot." So So you know,4:53you're in your word and man, let me see4:55your Bible. Oh man, your Bible. Like I'd4:56glaze them and then I'd go, "Um, how4:59many wise men are there in the Bible?"5:00Cuz I know if I just asked them, "How5:03many wise men are there?" They're going5:05to be like, "Why is this person doing5:06this?" I would come in nice.5:08>> You're5:09>> I know. I would5:10>> terrible person.5:12>> I'll be like,5:12>> "You're something."5:14>> So, what I would do was I was always5:16foundational and I was always like, "Let5:18me just like strip that and rugpull them5:22right there cuz they're just going to5:24back themselves into this like thing,5:26right?" And so I would say, "Wow, do you5:30know how many wise men there are in the5:31Bible?" Cuz I mean, I heard and they'll5:34cut me off. Yeah, of course. There's5:36three wise men. They bore the5:37frankincense and they would like go deep5:39into it. Do you know what that means? It5:40means they follow the north star.5:41Northstar means and I'm like, "Three5:43wise men? Oh, cool." I was like, "Can5:45you show me in the Bible where it says5:46three wise men?" And then I'll see their5:49face switch like, "Well, but it's in the5:52everyone." I'm like, "No, but can you5:54show me? I just want to like and I would5:55gaslight them. I just want to write it5:57down. I'm just wondering. And I'll play5:58like this. I'll play dumb. And then when6:00they're doing it, they'll say, "These6:03wise men bore three gifts." But I'm6:06like, "You guys are all about the6:08Bible." Like, absolutely. We're the only6:09ones that know the Bible. We're the only6:11ones that study it. We have biblical6:13OCD. And we lit blah. And I'm like, "But6:15then where does it say three wise men?"6:18And then they would get in their fields.6:21And then I'd be like, I'd use the word6:23interesting a lot. Oh, I was just asking6:25you a question and it seems like you're6:28getting mad. Interesting. Like I'll do6:30this. And then they'll be like,6:33>> "It's not that I'm mad. It's just And6:35they'll cuss at me. They'll actually6:36start cussing." And I'll be like, "Does6:38it say you can cuss in the Actually, it6:40does say that in the Bible. You could6:41cuss in the Bible. You could to people6:42like you. We could say that to you." And6:44I'm like, "Interesting. It sounds like6:46you have a lot of hatred." Interesting.6:48Very interesting. Like I would literally6:50be doing this and they would6:52>> go crazy.6:54>> Rightfully so.6:55>> Yeah. And then and then I would try to6:57fight them. There was one time Yeah.6:59There was one time where they would get7:01crazy with me and then the hood side of7:03me would come out and I would do I7:05realized I did this ever since I was7:07young.7:07>> I did this where like all right I know7:10that I got my little poker on me, my7:13little you know shiv as the shank. and I7:16can't walk down this place, but I got my7:19poker on me. So, I know even if they try7:22to jump me, I just gotta, you know, do7:23what I got to do. So, I I had a decision7:25to not walk down that street cuz they7:28didn't like Asians at the time. There7:30was beef between gangs, whatever. I7:32could have went the long way. I'm like,7:33"No, I'm good. I'm going to take this7:34route." And I would walk around like,7:37"All right, no, I'm just the Asian guy7:38walking through the hood." Like, and7:40then they would press me. And when they7:42would press me, I'll bait them into7:43that. Like, I'd be like, "Oh, yeah. No,7:45no, no. Boom, man. And I'll do it. And7:47they're shocked because they thought7:49they were like I don't know. For me, I I7:51think I'm psychopathic like that. But at7:53least back then, it was more of like7:56[laughter]7:56>> I'm agreeing with you.7:57>> But it was more like um I'll lure myself8:00in to this corner to see that like to8:03show you that you'll win and then I'll8:05I'll one up you. And I got basically my8:08I got happy off of that.8:09>> It's like a trap, a double trap card.8:11>> Yeah. Yeah. Whatever that's called. Are8:12there any other tricks like the three8:14wise men trick you've told us? Is there8:16any other ones I can I mean is there any8:17ones you could tell me? I mean8:20>> why you trying to use it? [laughter]8:22>> No, I was joking.8:23>> But are there any other ones like that8:24that come off the top of your head?8:26>> Yeah, there was other ones like uh when8:29they speak like in Galatians I'll be8:31like who what are the fruits like8:34kindness, meekness, whatever, right? And8:37then they'll be like, "Oh, fruits of the8:40spirit are when you get," and this was8:41this wouldn't be with the Israel, the8:43Hebrew Israelites. This would be with8:45other people. This would be like just8:46regular people. And I'd be like, "What8:48does it mean exactly when it says the8:51fruit of the spirit is love, kindness,8:53meekness, longsuffering, whatever." And8:54then they'll they'll they'll answer and8:56I'll be like, "Oh, interesting. Can you8:58guys like turn to Luke 1:41? What does9:01that mean? Fruit of the womb is Jesus9:03Christ." And then that's when I would9:05although I was saved would also tell9:06them like you realize that the fruit is9:09not you it's it's Jesus Christ. So I9:12just think it's kind of funny and I9:13would say I think it's kind of funny. I9:14would use these words that you're you're9:17you're making it about you but then9:20you're saying you're not workspace. Well9:22it's not works because it's God9:24commanding the words and they start9:25doing this and then I'm just looking at9:27them and I'm like then I just smile. And9:30the one thing you people don't realize9:32is you got to use the pause. So I would9:34sit there and I would go like you know9:37when someone's explaining and they're9:38like yeah but so you right you9:40understand and then they finish and9:42they're like and you're just like9:45>> oh9:45>> and then they keep going they keep9:46going. Well okay but what I mean also is9:49because then what they what they're9:50doing is now they're clawing like9:52>> they're arguing against themselves.9:53>> Yeah. And that so I'm just saying that9:55like why do you have that? Why do you9:57why are you looking at me? Like and9:58later it becomes this like why are you10:00looking at me? I'm like I'm not doing10:01anything. I'm just listening to what10:02you're saying. And the Bible says in10:04John and I would do that so mean. John10:0719 it says you have to have you have two10:08ears and one mouth. I got to listen10:10twice as much as I speak. And I do this10:11and then they're just like and I'm like10:14are you mad? And I would play that. Are10:16you mad? [laughter]10:18Like I thought but we're talking about10:19the fruits of the spirit and you're10:20saying you have this fruits of the10:21spirit. I'm just asking. And it's funny10:23how you're equating my question to10:25disrespect because you're getting I'm10:27not getting disres. I'm just saying. And10:28then I'm just like, "Oh my gosh." And I10:31And I would get off on that.10:33>> You're a terrible person.10:34>> I am.10:35>> You're a terrible person. There's10:36probably10:36>> But that's how I was.10:38>> I know there's been somebody that's10:39scrolling reals 5 years later. That's10:42the guy.10:43>> That's the guy. He thinks he's all calm10:45and nice.10:46>> This guy at the beach.10:47>> But that's what they would say. I would10:49get a lot of those things where it's10:50like, "I remember you. Don't like guys,10:52he's a fraud. He's super calm. He's10:54super nice. He's not This is before you10:56guys. I swear. He's super nice. He's10:58super calm. He think I would have DMs11:00from way back in like 2023 of like, "Oh,11:03I remember you. You remember me,11:04brother. I told you. You need to have11:06your Bible. You need to read it. Good11:07thing you read your Bible." Like they11:08try to like pull it back cuz they were11:11that [snorts] it took like years for11:12them to go like it was that. And that11:15and then that's when I realized I was11:16like, "Dad, I I really got to repent."11:18Like I didn't realize that that little11:20interaction people held on to,11:22>> of course,11:23>> for like so long. And again, it was11:26because I was ferocical. It's because I11:28was all I was apologetic. I was, "Yeah,11:31I'm going to learn this and this and11:32this and this and this and this." And11:33I'm and I would then debate Jewish11:35people, too. I would be like, "Same with11:36my Skype." The guy who why we ended our11:38Skype calls, I was learning. He was11:40trying to convert me to Judaism.11:41Judaism. And he's like, "Yeah." So, and11:44I would show him, right? I'm like, "Hey,11:46who's the angel of the Lord that says if11:49you disrespect him, he doesn't forgive11:51sins?" Like, "Can an angel forgive11:53sins?" And I was baiting him into seeing11:56that that was Jesus. And he's like,11:58"Whoa." He's like trying to explain it,12:00but he couldn't explain it. And he's12:02like, "No." Well, no. And I'm like,12:03"What does Elgibore mean? I thought12:05Elgibore is like the almighty one. And12:07why does it say in Isaiah 9:6 that12:09Elgibore is given to the son? I thought12:12this title can only be given to God."12:14Well, and then like it's difficult. So I12:16would I would kind of like bait them12:18into these things. I was really bad.12:20>> Did that to your own Hebrew teacher?12:21>> Literally anybody could get the smoke.12:23Like that's how I was. I was like all of12:25you fools could get it.12:26>> Sounds like it. [clears throat]12:28>> But it was really really bad because12:30that and I didn't realize again that was12:32a distraction12:34>> cuz at that time nobody was coming to12:37God through me.12:38>> People would go and they would go, "Wow,12:40you have an amazing testimony." But then12:43when they saw my fruit and they saw my12:45actions and they saw how I carried12:46myself, they were like, I don't want any12:49of that. I'm good with that.12:50>> And then when did the soft white12:51underbelly happened? Three years later.12:53>> Yeah. Like three like close to four12:55years later.12:56>> Kind of crazy. You got like a little12:57second chance.12:58>> I'm wondering if me and Aaron had met13:01you earlier if that would have just13:03>> you guys wouldn't have liked me.13:04>> Yeah. Yeah. I wonder if that would have13:05been the butterfly effect to be like,13:07>> "Yeah,13:08>> nah." So, so I learned like that through13:11being in YA. Like YA is all about mind13:14games. So, you you have to play mind13:17games with people. And I didn't realize13:19that I carried that cuz it was like13:21ingrained in me into everything else13:23that I did. And you know, the one thing13:26that that broke it out of me was pastor.13:29Pastor was just that one special line.13:32You read the Bible so much. Wow. You13:34know, you wake up every morning. You13:35seem dedicated to go over to these13:37beaches to go and talk to people. You13:39look like you're evangelizing13:41and yet how come there isn't new people13:43in the church. Like I didn't bring one13:45person to church to Christ. I didn't13:47bring one person to church. Like13:49basically where are your fruits? And I13:52was just like I've always been a real13:55like real with myself. Like I won't13:56pacify. If I don't like something I just13:58can't handle it. I just my body or my14:01spirit won't let me. So when he said14:03that it it felt like someone stabbed me14:06in the heart. It was crazy. I was very14:08mad only like I felt like how I made14:11other people feel14:13>> and I was just like well and I I hard I14:17felt the hardness in my heart like it14:19hardened so hard and then but I looked14:22at him and he was looking at me the way14:24I was looking at other people. pastor14:26when he looks at people, anyone who14:28knows Pastor Kim, he goes like this,14:31like he'll look at you and he'll be like14:33he'll he'll smile. He'll do like a sides14:34smirk. That's what he was doing to me.14:36AND I'M LIKE14:38LIKE SCREAMING INSIDE. But now when I14:40obviously in hindsight it was very14:42beautiful. But at that time I remember I14:44was getting hot. It's like you know cold14:46sweats. It was piss. It was wild. Yeah.14:49>> Does every Christian need to produce14:52fruits? Right. Because then I look at14:55myself and I'm like, how many people14:57have I really brought to church? And14:58like where my interaction has literally15:01made them go, hey, because of you, I'm15:04saved. Or like, because of you, I've got15:06gone to church. I'm like, [snorts]15:08I don't got time to go to the beach.15:11[laughter]15:12>> Yeah. I mean, not everyone. So, you15:15don't produce the fruit, right? when you15:17realize that cuz I if you think about it15:21from a foundational standpoint, I was15:23trying to produce fruit, but I was going15:25about it in the way of just arguing and15:28I thought that's what was going to15:29produce fruit. I had this mission and I15:32didn't realize I I took the gang banging15:33energy, like I said, ya, the15:36manipulation into the gospel. And I was15:39trying to literally create soldiers like15:42me. I thought like warriors of Christ15:45meant literally like for the whole day15:48and like running and like killing15:49people. You know what I mean? It's like15:51that's literally what I I I I just again15:54switch the lens like different you know15:56what did they say? Old Mac new clip,15:58right? It's like literally16:00>> Yeah, that's what they say.16:01>> Yeah. Wait, explain that? I don't16:03understand.16:03>> Old Mac, Mac 11, Mac 10. Gun new clip.16:07>> So it means like16:08>> Yeah, we say that all the time.16:09>> I thought you were talking about the16:10MacBook computer. So, you're talking16:12about an automatic gun.16:13>> Old Mac, uh, iOS, and then new Clippies.16:16>> This is Yeah. For the Clippers.16:17>> Yeah. No, that No, that's a 50 cent16:20line. Old Mac, new clip, right? But16:22basically, it's it's it's a bar. It16:25means like sameish, different day type16:27of thing, right? So, I just different16:30lens, right? A different version. Um, I16:32took the gang banging energy, brought it16:35into the gospel. [laughter]16:38>> Is this one of those back blown out16:40moments? [laughter] No, I'm just16:41laughing cuz it's like16:43>> everyone says that, dude. What are you16:45talking about?16:46>> Never [laughter] heard that.16:47>> Me neither. I've neverve16:50>> Well, you guys [clears throat] are lame.16:52>> Yeah, I know. You You literally started16:53a podcast with two squares. [laughter]16:56We're both16:58>> No, but that's funny. But yeah, I I I17:01thought that that's what producing fruit17:04was was you make disciples of many17:06nations and they got a disciple under17:08you. They got to be again I I felt like17:11it was prideful. I'll be honest. I knew17:14it was but I didn't know another way. So17:19>> even though you were around the church17:20for 5 years and watching pastor and all17:22these other ministers17:23>> I I'll be honest. Even though I watched17:25pastor, I did have the underlying heart17:27of like, man, this is soft. What the17:30hell? What the hell is heartgaming?17:31>> Oh,17:32>> why is this fool sitting here being nice17:33to this fool? This doesn't even listen.17:35>> Yeah. or someone's arguing back with the17:36>> pastor. I'm like, why pastor? Why you17:38like you could pop off on this? This17:40this was dumb. Like I would have that17:41mindset.17:42>> You've never said that to him though?17:43>> Never said it to him. Interesting.17:44>> I would just hold it in. And then pastor17:46would go, you know, this guy Johnny like17:48he he knew. Yeah. This guy thinks he's17:50so amazing. He even looks down on the17:52pastors. And I'm like, I don't look down17:54on the pastors, but inside I was. I was17:57like, dude, you guys, is this how it is?17:58Like where's all that energy at? You18:00know, when you're coming at me telling18:01me I'm a dirt and I'm all that, how come18:03this fool comes over and you're just18:05like, "Oh, yes. Would you like to eat?"18:07"Oh, yeah. You very I'm" I'm like, "Man,18:08this was fake as hell." Again, did not18:11have the depth of knowing what the18:13gospel was. Did not even care about18:15other people's souls. Cared more about18:18I'm going to just carry my energy, the18:21gang banging manly masculine energy into18:24making disciples of many nations, making18:26them warriors and doing all that. But18:29when pastor said you did all that, you18:32full-fledged did that cuz I really did18:34pour my heart into like studying cuz I18:36was like I saw how people got18:38embarrassed and again out of pride I18:41didn't want to get embarrassed like18:42that. So I I studied very much so and I18:45saw why people would get embarrassed cuz18:47they weren't studied. So, I made it a18:50like I was determined I'm not going to18:53ever get embarrassed, which is prideful.18:55And I was determined not to do those18:57things and let people step over me. And18:59in the end, it resulted to zero19:02disciples, zero people coming to church19:05and actually a lot of people not liking19:07me. What's the longest Snapchat streak19:10you've ever had? Be honest, some of you19:12[music] guys have had Snapchat streaks19:13for years. Even if you wake up in the19:15morning, you guys will send a blurry pic19:17just to [music] keep that streak alive.19:19Right now, let me ask you this. What if19:20you kept that same energy for God? I'm19:22not talking about no 3-hour Bible study19:24or 45minut prayer session just checking19:26in 2 minutes a day every day for God.19:29I'm Johnny Chang. I spent 13 years19:30locked up. And the thing that saved me19:32wasn't one big moment from God. It was19:34showing up every single day, day after19:36day after [music] day. That's where true19:38change happens. Not in the mountaintop19:41skyrocketed moments, [music] but in the19:43daily ones. That's why we built a streak19:45tracker in the Core of the Heart daily19:46app. Every time you check with your19:48devotional, your streak goes up. And19:50it's not there to guilt you when you19:51miss. It's there to show you something19:52different. It shows you that you're19:54actually doing [music] something, that19:55you're becoming the person that you19:56prayed to be. That's not pride. That's19:58evidence. You kept a Snapchat streak for20:00a person that you probably don't even20:02talk to anymore. Keep one with God who20:04never left and start your streak today.20:06Link in my bio. Do you see any positives20:08of it? Obviously, what you learned, but20:10do you see any positives of the20:11knowledge that you learned? No, because20:14mo most of the knowledge that I read was20:16filtered through my own interpretations20:18anyway.20:20So, what I think is even more amazing is20:23that really the knowledge came just like20:26four years ago.20:28Like all the stuff I know now, even20:29though I've read the Bible 20some times,20:32I would say the in the last four to five20:34years was really where I I like broke my20:38heart and was like, whoa, this is what20:40it actually means. But my original20:43question was like me obviously like I20:45don't have time to go to the beach or20:46whatever and what I'm thinking about is20:48I know it's not up to me, right? It's20:50like but but20:51>> if I let's say I go to the beach and I'm20:54drinking acting a fool. No one's ever20:56going to be like, "Oh, that person is a20:58Christian." So when I go into certain21:00places, my mindset is, "Oh, I should21:02probably like watch what I say. I21:04should, you know, heart gain things like21:06that." So that people go, "Oh, that was21:08like a nice interaction or whatever it21:09is." Is that some part too of me trying21:12to be good? So that21:13>> No. Like if you think about when you21:16were when you had the business before,21:18you would have to go into rooms. You21:19would have to sit there and listen to21:21these millionaires, billionaire21:22investors just talk about what they did21:25and you would try to hardgain them, but21:27for what? It was for your own business.21:28It was for your own cause. When you go21:31inside, you know, these rooms now and21:33you watch, you know, what you say, you21:36you're careful with your jokes. You're,21:38you know, very reserved. Why? Because21:40you're literally what? For the gospel?21:43Like you never cared about the gospel21:45back then. Why do you care about it now?21:47Well, that's not your heart. That's from21:48God. So that's that's the difference.21:50Does it make sense?21:51>> Yeah.21:52>> I don't also just want to act a certain21:53way just so that people like some21:55version of me.21:58>> Does that make sense?22:00>> Yes. Like you're not always doing22:01>> I'm not always trying to be like fake,22:03you know? Like sometimes I swear,22:05sometimes I joke around and sometimes22:07>> that's okay, too. Like I'm not saying22:09swearing is okay, but of course you're22:12going to be yourself. So I rather you22:16like God doesn't want you to be fake at22:18the end of the day. That's why he22:20doesn't need those performative prayers.22:22He doesn't need like the best version of22:24you. He needs the honest version of you,22:26right? So if you if you can walk into a22:29room and you go, "Hey, I'm not feeling22:31it today."22:32That's actually more real than like you22:35trying to smile and suck it up and it's22:37like look at me guys like validation and22:40attention seeking more so I think God22:43really cares because he sees your heart22:44anyways he just wants you to just be22:46real and during those times to seek him.22:49So again, not saying, "Hey, you can you22:52should swear." But let's say you go out22:53there and you swear. Then that's where22:55repentance comes in. Like ah I see every22:58time I follow myself and I and I'm get a23:00little like in my head and in my23:01thoughts and I don't want to be fake, I23:03start to close people's hearts. Yeah.23:04Maybe God, can you help me with that?23:06Like truly got to repent from this, you23:08know? So it's it's okay to feel like23:10that. It's not this this uh I got to I23:13got to be 100% spiritual all the time.23:15That's just not how it works. If you23:17were 100% spiritual all the time, then23:19you wouldn't need God. Like, we're23:21flawed. We're human beings. We're going23:22to mess up. At the end of the day,23:25that's why we need Jesus. Point blank.23:28Period. You need Jesus. Why do we still23:32fall for distractions?23:34>> I think because people misunderstand23:37knowing a distraction and spotting a23:39distraction does not mean like23:42application and does not mean that you23:44can overcome that distraction, right?23:46Like for example, if someone pulls a gun23:49on me or if someone pulls a knife on me,23:50knowing that, oh that's a gun, that's a23:52knife is not going to help me in that23:54situation, right? You have to know how23:56to navigate these things, right? So a23:58lot of people think if I just know it24:00and I see it coming, then it can be24:03prevented. Not necessarily. That's step24:05one. Obviously, you can recognize24:07something, but that recognition is not24:09the thing that helps you overcome those24:12things. Right? So uh when you look at24:15scripture it also talks about it.24:17Hebrews 12:1-2 it says wherefore seeing24:21we also are compassed about with so24:24great a cloud of witnesses let us lay24:26aside every weight and the sin which24:29doth so easily beset us. Right? So the24:33way that the Bible explains sin and24:35distractions is it so easily sets into24:38us. It so easily knocks us off course.24:42You have to believe that word. So when24:44people go, "Why do I get distracted?"24:45Because it's so easy to get distracted.24:48One scroll, one click, literally one,24:50it's you're you're like an hour later24:52like, "Oh, what the heck happened? How24:54did I just scroll through all of these24:55Tik Toks and be like, "What? I thought I24:57wanted to do something." There's times24:58where I literally have done that before25:00where I lift up the phone and I'm just25:01like, "Okay, I know I got to do25:02something for core of the heart." And25:04then 15 minutes later, I'm like, "What25:06the hell am I doing? I'm not even doing25:07I Okay." And then you snap back into it.25:09So again, realizing those things does25:13not mean right that or recognizing those25:15things doesn't mean that it's going to25:17solve those things. What God wants us to25:19realize is this specifically. Hey,25:22there's distractions. They're difficult.25:25So what's the number one thing you have25:26to do? Recognize, sure, but you also25:28have to turn away and go, I can't follow25:32this. I'm not going to trust myself. I'm25:34not going to take my phone and like open25:35it up and then scroll a little bit. I25:37just check one notification. One25:39notification leads to for you page. For25:42you page then spirals you into something25:43really great and it's like wa this is25:45really interesting. And then we even25:46make excuses. Oh, this is going to be25:49like helpful for my mom or I'm just25:52watching this because it's good to help25:53me and I got to de-stress a little bit25:55and whatever it is. We just make these25:57excuses. Well, if it was something good25:59for you, why would why would you need to26:01make excuses for it, right? You would26:03just do it. So yeah, it's very difficult26:05for people to see because it's so easily26:09overlooked. It's so easy. It just shows26:11up. It's like candy is the same way. Oh,26:14how come I can't get over like eating26:16candy? I have a sweet tooth. Exactly.26:18Because it's sweet. It's not It's hard26:20to overcome those things. It's just it26:22tastes so good. As simple as that is.26:24It's just what it is. Why do people have26:26diabetes if they're eating those things?26:28It's because they can't like they know26:30that it's not good for you. They know26:31that it'll rot your teeth away, but why26:33can't they stop it? Cuz it's just so26:35easy to fall into.26:36>> I just struggle with that a lot. I26:37struggle with this specifically. I I26:39could know I'm doing something wrong and26:41I will still just do it. But26:44>> so the the biblical explanation on how26:47to stop getting distracted or even26:50overcome your It's actually found in26:52Psalm 119. So when you go to Psalm26:55119:37,26:56it says, "Turn away mine eyes from26:58beholding vanity and quicken thou me in27:01thy way." So we, what the Bible is27:04saying is it's not saying, "Hey God, I'm27:07going to turn my own eyes away. God, you27:09have to turn my eyes away." So we have27:11to seek him. Number one, right? Number27:14two, there's also what I call heart27:16posture check questions. You got to ask27:19yourself, right? We have to stop asking27:21why am I getting distracted? because27:23you're already distracted, right? So, it27:25doesn't you don't need to know why. You27:26just you fell into the trap. It's not27:28why am I in this hole like you have to27:30go okay I'm in this hole right now. I'm27:31in this distracted in this distraction27:34and you have to start asking what am I27:36trying to replace with the distraction?27:38So, why do I reach for my phone? Why is27:41it that, you know, I'm trying to replace27:43something with this distraction? Is it27:44because I can't sit my with my thoughts27:47too long? Is it because when I'm sitting27:49there and I'm struggling with, you know,27:51addiction or something and then I got to27:53like reach out for something else to27:54soothe? Like, you have to figure these27:56things out before you figure out, okay,27:58I'm distracted. What do I do about this28:00distraction? That's just a surface28:01level. Why you reach for that28:03distraction is more important than you28:05just reaching for the distraction and28:07trying to solve it right then and there.28:08Right? We're getting to the foundational28:10level here. And so, yeah.28:12>> Okay. So, let's say you answer that28:14question. M for example, I have the28:16phone addiction issue. I'll just pick up28:18the phone randomly and then by the end28:20the compound of the day, even though28:21it's a minute or two here, the compound28:24at the end of the day is like28:25disgusting. It's like, yo, I could have28:26like worked out or something28:28>> or or learned a skill. I probably could28:30have28:30>> found the cure to cancer28:32>> and28:33>> and so like let's say I've addressed28:36those things28:37>> of maybe why I I I reached for the phone28:41and it still keeps happening. You don't28:43think at some point it's like28:46>> don't even put it near you like like28:48like literally create the blocks because28:50>> well if you addressed it that is part of28:53the addressing. You can't be like I28:55addressed my food addiction and then28:57open your cupboard and it still has like28:59hot cheetos and Takis and whatever. Like29:02I've addressed it. I've prayed it away.29:04Like no no obviously there's things that29:06you have to do practically where you29:08have to remove yourself. You have to29:09remove the distractions. Like removal in29:12itself is is what I'm saying is rev29:15removal in itself is not bad. That's29:17actually one of the pivotal steps, but29:19it's not the only step. A lot of people29:21think, well, if I just put a lock on my29:22phone. We're smart enough to like get29:25back into it. We're smart enough to, oh,29:26I'll get another phone or I'll just find29:28something else. It's just that's how we29:30are, right? So, we have to be able to29:32not only remove, but we have to also go29:35back to God and focus on those things.29:37And that's why it's difficult for a lot29:39of people who don't have God like29:41genuinely then they'll find something29:42else and even that works you know going29:44to work out or replacing things with um29:48a another hobby but you can then make29:51the argument that that's also a29:52distraction to then keep them off of a29:54worse distraction or a less less29:57desirable right distraction like30:00>> instead of smoking crack I'll smoke weed30:03you know it's like one of those things30:05right so it's the lesser of two evil30:07Yeah. Yeah. There you go.30:08>> Instead of smoking weed, I'll smoke30:10vape.30:10>> Yeah. [laughter]30:12Instead of smoking vape, I'll smoke30:13cigarettes. Yeah.30:15>> I guess I I have an open discussion30:17question for everybody. Go ahead, man.30:18>> What's a distraction in your life that30:20you guys think is not that big of a30:22deal? Obviously, there's the obvious30:23ones in your life where you're like,30:24"Oh, for me it's my phone." Very30:26clearly, but what is one that you're30:28like, "Ah, now I think about it."30:29>> I have one that's hard for I think any30:31influencer or any social media person is30:34the phone. Well, I'm just doing this30:36because I got to check because it's part30:38of my business. It's part of core of the30:40heart. Oh, I'm jumping on Discord to,30:43you know, not check the notifications of30:45what people are talking about, but I30:46have to do this because I have to tend30:48to the sheep. Like, it's really easy for30:50influencers or people who are on the30:52internet um like in my position to go,30:55oh, I'm just looking to see like content30:58ideas from other people. But it's like,31:00no, dude, you're just consuming, you31:02know? It's like you don't need that. So31:04it I think it for me it's more of like31:06keeping it real with yourself. Like you31:08know when you're messing up, you know31:10when you're distracted, you know these31:11things. Are you in those pivotal moments31:14going to make an excuse or are you going31:15to actually try to make a change? And31:17that's what we have to really uh be real31:19about.31:20>> This feels like a gambling addiction to31:22me. Like I can't kick the phone thing.31:24>> And Okay. Explain why though. Like are31:27you when you say that? Are you saying31:28you wake up every morning just grab your31:30phone?31:30>> No. So I've gotten better with that.31:32every sing for the last seven days.31:34[laughter]31:34>> I've woken up, I've grabbed the phone31:36and I've read the Bible. I go straight31:38to the core of the heart app. I read the31:40daily devotion31:41>> and I and I read the Bible. I just read31:43it slow. I scroll. I leave notes. I31:45highlight things. I can pull it up. Want31:47to ask you some questions later. And I31:49and then when I get off of that, but I31:51read it from my phone, not the actual31:52Bible, because I like the highlight31:53thing. I like just laying on my side.31:55It's hard to hold my big old Bible like31:57that. [laughter] I can read it in the31:58dark. I don't have to turn on the31:59lights. Just a whole bunch of things.32:01Also, if I have to get up and then my32:02cats hear me, then they start meowing32:04and I got to feed them. Okay. Anyways,32:06um so I've been good about that. And32:08then I will get off the phone and I'll32:10start my morning. So, I've been better32:12about that. Where it becomes the32:14distraction is the minute where I go,32:16okay, now my my day I got to like check32:18some texts. Then I got well on my main32:20phone. I also I keep this second phone32:22away. This one has all the apps and32:24things. My main phone doesn't have any32:25of that. So, that also helps. But the32:27minute that I go start checking for text32:28or then I go wait I need to check like32:31you know I'll open little things here32:32and there for messages is when I start32:34to get caught in the rabbit hole. So I32:36also have a thing called brick. So it32:38blocks all my social media. You have to32:40you can brick it from my phone but to32:42unlock it I have to get out of my32:43office, walk over to my fridge and32:45unbrick it. And that helps a lot of the32:47times but sometimes I'm like no I need32:50to look at this social media page to get32:51that Johnny video or whatever it is. And32:54what will happen is I'll be clad coding32:57and in between the co code sessions when32:59it's just loading stuff. I'll just pull33:00out my phone and maybe I'll33:02>> That's the trap.33:03>> Yeah, it's the trap. Obviously, don't do33:05it on your phone, Jeremy. So then it33:06leads to I'm clad coding and I'm like,33:08okay, I'll just answer a couple emails33:10in between. Then I'll maybe be like,33:12man, what's that YouTube stat of that33:14one video? Like I want to see how the33:15stats are doing. You know what I'm33:16saying? And then now all of a sudden I'm33:18like, "Okay, I" And then I'll find like33:20a good YouTube video and I'll be like,33:21"I'll watch this in between coding33:23because I have to wait anyways." And33:25then I'm like, "The coding is finished."33:27And then it's like 30 seconds of this33:29thought finishing. I pause it then go33:31back to the coding, then I start the33:32video again, and then it finishes faster33:34than I thought. Okay. Yeah.33:35>> Does any of this affect your work though33:38in terms of like you less efficient in33:40your work?33:40>> Slightly. Because if I got the work done33:43in a shorter amount of time, I could33:45maybe go train. I can maybe go hang out33:47wi with somebody. I could maybe plan33:50better. Like there's a lot of other33:51things I could be doing, but I find33:53myself in like constant procrastination33:56or when the weekend comes, I'm like,33:58>> "All right, like now I got to really33:59lock in here and put like34:01>> an 8 hour day on my weekend." You know34:03what I'm saying? Like it compounds over34:05time or things start to like slip34:07through the cracks.34:08>> Yeah. So what was the question in that?34:11>> It's like I've addressed what my issue34:13is as to why I folded those things.34:16and I still find myself folding to those34:18things. Do I just like delete everything34:20and just it's like it's it's been it's34:24been semih hard for me to to break even34:26though I get things done like you guys34:28never notice.34:28>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We don't. Um I think34:31that's it's going to keep happening34:33until like you get fed up with it. Like34:37I think right now there's that point of34:39it's similar to addiction where you go34:42through these phases of like yeah I34:44could see I'm using a little bit more.34:46>> This has been 10 years of my life34:48though. This was the same in34:49>> I know but that's just how it is. Like34:51sometimes it just takes time to go34:54>> dang it's it's it's [laughter]34:57but that's what those moments even34:59though you're being like this Jeremy is35:01what you have to reflect upon sometimes35:03to go dang like do I want another 1035:06more years and sometimes that's the35:08thing that pushes you over to go nah I'm35:10good do I want to spend 10 years of my35:12an extra 10 years of my life like35:15letting this thing compound and then35:17working into my already crazy work week35:20now ending my weekends with it. And that35:23sometimes that's the thing that pushes35:25you over to go I'm good. That's what35:27pushed me over with even with the35:28distraction about like preaching the35:30gospel to people and making people35:32warriors and whatever was I'm like do I35:34want to go another 10 years or 20 years35:37or maybe all of my life without one35:39disciple? Nah, I'm good. And that's what35:42changed my life, right? So to be able to35:44hear pastor and listen cuz I could have35:46easily also that day went the other way35:48and been like you said something that35:50disrespected me so much this isn't the35:52right church for me and I could have35:54bounced. That could have happened. I35:56could have like physically got into it35:57with pastor Kim and argued with him35:59which I didn't do. I could have36:01literally it could have went many36:03different ways but for that some it was36:06just a timing. It was God's timing to36:08go, I want to open your heart, Johnny,36:11and open your mind because you're36:13literally like marginalizing the gospel36:15to this one thing when it's so much36:17deeper than that. It's so much bigger36:18than that, so much greater than that.36:20And that's what I needed that just five,36:23six years ago that I needed to sit there36:25and go, dang, I'm doing it wrong. And36:29then that's what changes like you get36:32fed up. Your heart posture is correct.36:34You have the right guidance and then it36:35all kind of mashes together and then you36:37push forward. Nobody told you that faith36:39would come with this many unanswered36:41questions. You pray, you read, you fast,36:43you tithe, and yet you're still not36:45growing. But there are things that36:46you're still carrying that you haven't36:48said out loud to anybody. Not because36:50the answer doesn't exist, but because36:51you don't know who to ask. That's36:53exactly why every Tuesday I do a group36:56mentorship session. You bring your36:58questions and whatever you've been36:59sitting on, whether it's a decision you37:01can't make, past trauma you're still37:03working through, or a relationship37:04that's draining you, and I answer them37:06scripturally, foundationally, with37:08biblical truths that meet you exactly37:10where you are. Even if you're not ready37:12to ask a question yet, come and listen37:14in because chances are somebody else in37:17that room is carrying the same weight37:18you are. It doesn't matter if you're new37:20in faith or you've been walking with God37:22for many years. No question is too37:24small, too messy, or even too37:26complicated. The group mentorship is an37:27exclusive benefit for gold members only.37:30To join, download Core the Heart Daily37:32or use the link in the description. I'll37:34see you guys Tuesday.37:35>> The fed up thing is interesting cuz I am37:37fed up. There's like books I want to37:38read that have just been sitting there37:40and I've like half read them. And37:41>> fed up enough.37:42>> I know. I'm not fed up.37:43>> I I only redirect when I go through37:46absolute misery.37:47>> Like when it gets to the most horrible37:50point and then I ruin everything and37:51then I literally have to redirect. Like37:53I'll work my way to that point where37:56>> until you have like a real reason to37:58stop like37:59>> if if the fact that it's not affecting38:01your work enough for example and Johnny38:02says this stuff all the time where it's38:04like that's actually sneakier. If it was38:06affecting your work you would have you38:08you would be quicker to redirect38:09>> 100%. It's like um not until you you38:12might be plagued with this until you38:13have a real reason to give it up. And38:16that that can be God and that could be38:17other reasons, but I'm just like38:19>> for me I always have to reach absolute38:22misery before I redirect. And I hope you38:24don't have to reach that point.38:26>> To be honest, like I there's like it38:28comes in waves. I'm [clears throat] not38:29like this all the time. And I think that38:31one part of it was because like if38:34because I was also injured38:37like usually if I'm like yo I want to go38:39to the Muay Thai class at night or I38:41want to work out I have to get38:43everything done by this time.38:44>> So because after I come back I want to38:46shower eat dinner and I have less time38:47to do certain things.38:49>> Um and then because I was injured I just38:51have like I'm like well doesn't matter38:53>> I'm going to get it done at this time.38:55So,38:56>> um I think that's one part, but now now38:58I have38:59>> my back back. But we'll see.39:01>> But it's just comes in waves. Like it's39:03that's the other thing about it. It's39:04not constant. It's like some some weeks39:06I'm really good about it and then I fall39:08back and it's just like39:09>> Well, that's biblical. So that's a good39:11thing. It's not annoying. It's I mean39:12it's annoying sure to us, but God wants39:14that because then we can go back and39:16seek him and really pray about it. I'm39:18sure you prayed about it before. I'm39:20sure you've acknowledged it and be like,39:22"Dang, I got to change." Um it's it's39:24just also what pastors taught me was39:27like emotions are things that you just39:29can't follow either. Like recently it's39:31really been heavy on my heart that he he39:34would tell me Johnny if you think about39:36the times you followed your emotions39:38like and followed it to the tea and39:39followed it to the core and followed it39:42to the end like what happened and it was39:44always bad. It was always bad. So he39:47said even a desire is like part of your39:49emotions like I want to do well I want39:51to have this. I want to have that. that39:53if you follow that, it literally is39:56going to like always control you and39:59it's going to it's it's going to own a40:01piece of you in a way, right? And so40:02it'll be the way he said it was it'll be40:04like a master to you. Like you'll be40:06serving that and then also trying to40:08serve God. And I don't know that like40:10I've heard that many times, but just40:12recently when he said that it really hit40:14me to go, dang, I cannot follow my40:17feelings about anything because I don't40:19know if they're right about that40:21specific thing. And so, you know,40:23[snorts] this idea of ah, it comes in40:25waves. It's not good. Like, no, I'm a40:28new creature. That's what the Bible40:29says. I'm going to listen to what the40:31Bible tells me or what pastor tells me40:32cuz he knows the Bible. And I always40:35like I always have this mindset that I'm40:37a poor leader. I I don't know why it40:39just always has come to my mind and has40:42plagued me for years. I would I would I40:45would always go, "Pastor Kim's a great40:46leader. Pastor John's a great leader.40:48I'm not going to ever be like them." And40:50so, pastor has been fighting with me40:52recently about that specifically.40:54Johnny, you are a good leader because40:56not because you're a good leader,40:57because Jesus made you a good leader.41:00Don't let the enemy toy with you. Don't41:02let the enemy use your weakness against41:04you. And he used such a good uh example.41:07He said, "If somebody in the streets,41:09let's say, use your weakness against41:11you, wouldn't you like at least fight41:13them or like cuss them out or argue with41:16them or not or reject them and not41:18engage with them?" He said, "But every41:19day, Satan is doing that to you. He's41:21using your weakness. Oh, I'm a bad41:23leader. Oh, I'm weak. Oh, I'm lacking."41:25He's rubbing it in your face, and you're41:27just going, "Yeah, that's me. That's me.41:29Yeah, God says I'm a new creature, and41:31God will lead me, but no, like I'm going41:32to listen to this more because it makes41:34more sense." And so, that's what always41:36makes me want to go back and and and be41:39in condemnation, basically. So, uh, he's41:42taught me really, really well to go, it41:44doesn't matter what he says, all of that41:47is trash. So whatever you feel about oh41:50this is distraction even that it's more41:52of like if it's a distraction41:55then and I can't handle it God is going41:58to handle it there it doesn't have to go42:00deeper than that you know and then he42:02goes the the wise and the how's are also42:05from the enemy so like okay but how am I42:08going to do it what am I supposed to do42:09but I don't think I can do it I've tried42:11before I've done he said all of that is42:13the voice of the enemy and that was very42:15interesting cuz that's usually what42:17happens happens to people when I tell42:19them, "Guys, you're a new creature." But42:21then they go, "But which negates42:23everything I say, but I still struggle42:25with addiction, right?" But that's the42:26enemy telling you that. No, I still do.42:28That's still that the no I still do is42:30also the enemy saying that. Like, why42:32are you speaking for him? And they're42:33just like, "Oh, wow." And I did this on42:35on Discord stage recently and everyone42:37started to see like, "Oh my gosh,42:39everything that comes out of me is42:41always counter counterbalancing the the42:44word of God. It's always going against42:45the word of God. It's always42:46counterproductive to the word of God.42:48And so I I hope that a lot of people can42:50learn that that thought that comes up,42:52that hardness, that stubbornness is not42:54even from us. It's from the enemy, but42:56we just like take ownership of it so42:58quickly because again, the Bible says43:00it's so easy to do so. We're so used to43:03that stuff and we don't even think it's43:05like that. We don't even think that43:06that's from the enemy. We're just like,43:07"Oh, that's from us." So yeah,43:10>> this is kind of tangential to that. So,43:12it's like there's also part of a43:14distraction that maybe we like it,43:16right?43:17>> So, then like43:19>> how do you how do you talk to God about43:22something that you may not be ready to43:24let go of? Hey God, I may not be ready43:27to let go of this right now,43:30right? Like uh doom scrolling for43:34example. God, I know that it may not be43:36good and it maybe takes an hour to 343:39hours out of my day, but Lord, like, I'm43:42finding comfort in this, and I know I43:44shouldn't be finding comfort in this. I43:46should be going to the comforter, which43:47is you. But if I'm honest, Lord, I keep43:50following my heart. I don't know what to43:52do. Like there's in ma in Mark 9,43:55there's a guy who goes, I believe, help43:58my unbelief. Like that doesn't even make44:00sense, right? I believe, help my44:02unbelief. then that means you don't44:03believe. But why did God record that in44:05the Bible? Because we want to do well44:08and we want as Romans 7 tells us, we44:12want to like we have this will to want44:14to do good. But then we don't know how.44:17That's why we have to go to the one who44:19does. That's why we have to seek him.44:21And so me too when I trip out about many44:24things, I also know like, oh, hey, my44:26flesh still likes certain things. But I44:29don't try to like I am a new creature.44:31I'm a new creature. I just go, "Hey44:33Lord, clearly this is wrong. I know that44:36my flesh shouldn't like these types of44:38things, but Lord, you know that, too,44:41and you know my weaknesses. You know44:44that I'm a new creature, but I struggle44:46with trusting in that. I struggle with44:48it. So, can you please help me with44:50that?" And every time it does that, at44:53the very least, the stress comes off of44:55you. You feel relief. And at the most,44:58things really do change. It's kind of45:00crazy. So I think because we've been45:02taught through church like rules and and45:04just doctrine that you can't come to God45:07like that. Like somehow you have to come45:08to God and really want to change and you45:11got to be so real with him and you just45:14got to like be honest about, you know,45:17being obedient, but you can't be honest45:18about your sin. You can't be honest45:20about those things that makes you like a45:21Jezebel or an evil person. No. God just45:24wants honesty. Period. If you like it,45:27keep it real. If you don't like it, keep45:29it real. Right? For example, God asks us45:31to forgive people. But what if you're45:33hardened and you're like, I don't want45:34to forgive somebody. It would probably45:36be better to go to God and go, "God, I45:38don't want to forgive people, though."45:39And then it's weird cuz when I say that,45:41I feel it. I'm like, "Oh, snap." Like,45:45"This is the guy I want to trust. The45:46guy who doesn't forgive people even45:48though God forgave him. The guy who45:50literally calls other people liars but45:52is also a liar. The hypocritical type.45:54Should I be trusting this guy?" And even45:56in that prayer, it unlocks things for me45:58too. Whereas before first two years my46:01prayers were always like yes heavenly46:04father thank you lord of lord king of46:06kings like I would study like black46:08pastors and like bishops and cuz they46:11would pray with such vernacular like46:13they pray with such like gusto and I46:15would be like oh he would say this and46:17they would use all the little church46:18buzzwords and I would pray like that and46:21then I remember one time pastor asked me46:23to pray and I prayed this was pastor46:26John pastor John was like who the hell46:28touched you to pray like that.46:29[laughter]46:32And I was like, "Dang, I thought that46:34was a bomb prayer. Jealous?" I was like,46:35"You jealous?"46:37>> But like it was just, you know, it was46:39funny. It was like, "Oh my gosh, like46:41why am I praying like that?" He's like,46:43"Dude, it it feels so fake and46:46performative." I'm like, "For real? I46:48thought it was passionate." Like, "No,46:50you're it's very" And he he's right cuz46:52I would watch and I would rewind it and46:54go, "Oh, he said that." And step into46:57your salvation. Ooh, that's fire. Okay,46:59I'm going you like it was just again47:02performative so that they could see that47:04I was praying well. Not really talking47:06to God. The prayer was not conversating47:09conversation with God. It was more of47:11like, hey, do you guys see how great I47:13am? You see how much like I've improved47:15in my prayer? You guys see that? Like it47:17was horrible. So fake, man. So fake. I'm47:20in I'm embarrassed to say that, but it's47:21just a real That's how I used to be,47:24>> you know? I think that there's really47:26other good segments we should get into47:27for distractions. So, let's get into47:30section number two cuz I was kind of47:32like47:32>> this one here, man. Come on.47:35>> Well, unless you want to share the thing47:36that you're distracted by. You didn't47:38really47:38>> thought I was getting out of that one.47:39>> Oh, okay. You don't want to share47:40anything.47:41>> I know. I just I was thinking about it.47:42I just couldn't really think of47:43anything. But47:45>> speaking of distraction, why is he on47:46his phone? This guy gets distracted. I47:49feel like we're the we're all a lot of47:51us are the type of people who we don't47:53get super distracted in the way of like47:55we do nothing but instead we get47:57distracted in the way that our energy47:59like rediverts towards the wrong thing.48:01>> So it's like lately I feel like I've48:02been super active, super like48:04accomplished, like happy to do things48:06and like whatever it is, but48:08>> like half the things I'm doing are48:09definitely just like in you could say48:11the wrong direction.48:12>> Yeah.48:13>> And like uh I don't know. No, I think48:15I'm just distracted by48:19[laughter] not48:20>> censor yourself.48:21>> Yeah.48:21>> Yeah. Yeah.48:22>> My biggest distraction right now is48:23work. Honestly,48:25>> I have no time to go do things.48:27>> You know what he sounds like? He sounds48:28like the people at the job interview.48:30What's your like weakness? It's like I48:32try too hard.48:33>> I get obsessed. Perfectionist.48:35>> Yeah. Yeah. I get obsessed with work.48:37>> No, I'm too distracted by work. I just48:39need to get back out and party and I'm48:41just [laughter]48:44>> That's48:44>> I get your point though. You don't have48:46to48:46>> Yeah.48:47>> house yourself.48:48>> Yeah.48:48>> Interesting. Interesting.48:50>> Did you know that reading the Bible can48:51be a distraction?48:53>> What?48:54>> Crazy, huh? So, a lot of people they48:58don't know and they don't realize that49:00reading the Bible obviously God tells us49:03study to show yourself approved. you49:05know, uh, like the Barian church in49:07Acts, they studied day and night. Let's49:10say you're reading the Bible, similar to49:13what I was doing, just to argue49:18or just to49:21cope with the idea of fear that if I'm49:24not reading my Bible, I'm not a good49:26Christian. then I'm utilizing it and49:28accessorizing it and kind of just coping49:32with it instead of actually reading the49:34Bible to search for Jesus to seek49:36understanding etc etc right so the49:40reason why it's so difficult for this is49:42because the ones that don't look sinful49:47like reading the Bible and look like49:48maturity can be the distractions that49:51slip because we read the Bible and then49:54it leads us into one rabbit hole and49:57another rabbit hole and another rabbit49:58hole. So that's how you know the Bible50:00has become a distraction for you. When50:02you read the Bible and you don't feel50:04more peace, you feel more like I got to50:07research this more. Then now you're not50:09in the Bible no more and you're in chat50:11DTP50:13and you're literally, okay, well this50:15means that. And then you watch this50:16video and you're like, oh that makes a50:18valid point. And then you watch that50:19video and that preacher is making also a50:20valid point. Completely different but50:22also valid. And now you're just analysis50:24paralysis. you're more distracted.50:26You're in rabbit holes. See, the way50:28that Satan works, he's okay with you50:30reading the scriptures so long as you50:33miss Jesus for the scriptures. He wants50:36you to miss the forest for the trees.50:37All the scripture, John 5:39, is about50:40Jesus Christ. But people get distracted.50:43He if it's dreams, visions, and gifts, I50:46rather you focus on that and miss all50:49what all the dreams, visions, and gifts50:50are prophesying towards, which is Jesus50:52Christ. I'm cool with that. So, study50:54your Bible. do all of that and then50:56through that people get pride they get50:59um egotistical51:01they [clears throat] get exalted I'm51:02holier than you energy and so it's51:05really dangerous right because like I51:07said this doesn't look like sin it looks51:10like maturity well what I'm in my Bible51:12more what I'm reading it way more than51:14I've ever read it what do you mean like51:15it's very very difficult to catch but I51:18see that in so many quote unquote51:21matured believers too yeah that's it51:24really can be a distraction.51:26>> What if they say, "I've also I'm also51:29producing fruits." By the way, this51:31chair is sorry, I'm like petting it.51:33>> Text me.51:34>> It's been very distracting.51:35>> What if they're like, "I brought a lot51:36of people to church. People are getting51:38saved." And they're not saying it in a51:40way of like, "Look at me. Look at me."51:41But they're like, "Well, it's when I've51:43started reading my Bible and studying it51:45more and being able to have these51:46conversations, more people are51:48interested in talking to me about God."51:50>> Yeah. Well, I mean that happens with51:52like apologetics, but again, where is51:55the fruit centered around? So, you can51:57bring people to a building, that doesn't51:59mean you're bringing them to Christ.52:00Bringing people to church doesn't mean52:02that you're bringing them to Christ.52:03Bringing them to Christ, Christ is not a52:05church building. It's the body of52:07Christ. So, what is the body pointing52:09to? What is it speaking to? So, think52:11about yourself like a signpost. Okay?52:13The sign is pointing somewhere. It52:16directs to the way. It doesn't take all52:17of the glory, right? So, are you is your52:20fruit? How do you know if it's true? How52:22do you know if this is a Christian52:23fruit? If it's a biblical fruit? Well,52:25all of the thing points to the fruit of52:27the womb, which is Jesus Christ. So, if52:29you bring people to Christ and they're52:31only focused on Jesus, that's a true52:33fruit. But if you bring people to the52:35church and all they care about is just52:37apologetics and winning arguments and52:39doing better and showing their obedience52:41and they're doing rabbit hole after52:43rabbit hole, that's not even bringing52:45them to Christ. Genuinely, you're just52:46bringing them into a church building52:48that's talking about Christ, but really52:50edifying themselves. Guys, our live52:52events are getting super packed. We52:54genuinely need some help. So, we're52:56looking for a live events producer. So,52:58I'm going to be completely honest about53:00this. There's a lot of moving pieces53:02from booking a church, finding the53:03vendors, scanning in the people, the53:05volunteers, the merch. Like, there's so53:07many moving pieces that I'm just going53:08to say right now, we're looking for a53:10professional. We're looking for someone53:11who has done this before. If you're53:13watching and you're like, "Oh, I think I53:14can help their live events." Honestly,53:15you're probably not the pick. But if53:17you're watching and you're saying, "Oh,53:18I've done this before. I've thrown live53:19events. I've even maybe worked in a53:21church space." Please reach out. We're53:22looking for a killer, someone who can53:24really coordinate everything. It's a ton53:26of moving pieces. At the end of the day,53:27it's nothing too hard or complicated,53:29but it's a lot of details, a lot of53:31moving pieces. And for us to be doing53:32this every single month, once a month or53:34even more, it's almost impossible53:36because we each run different branches53:37of the business. So, for us to do these53:39ourselves, it's becoming unscalable. So,53:41if you think, you know, you know, I can53:42come in, take this over, I'll learn from53:44them, we'll teach you everything, and53:46you think I can take the information and53:48go throw them live events every single53:50month in a different city for the rest53:51of the next 10 years. If you're hearing53:53this and you think that's you, please53:55reach out. We pay super competitively.53:57We have honestly a really good pay for53:58you guys cuz we really want to do this.53:59Live events are super important to54:01Johnny and all of us and all of you54:03guys. So, we want to keep doing them. We54:04want to keep making them super amazing.54:06And that's why honestly, we're looking54:07for a killer. like it. We're not really54:09going to hire anyone to test them out or54:11try to train. We're looking for someone54:12who has done this before and is ready to54:14do it for us and we're going to pay you54:16very handsomely for it. So, please reach54:18out. The best way to do it, there's a54:19link in the description. There's a job54:21application that details everything and54:23the pay. So, please fill it out. Please54:25pay attention to the instructions.54:26There's a lot of instructions that if54:27you don't pay attention to them, we're54:29not even going to look at your54:30application. So, cutting to the chase,54:32we're looking for a live events killer.54:34If you are that person or if you know54:35that person, if someone at your church54:37maybe throws the events, if you want to54:38recommend it to a friend or a family54:40member, we want an awesome beast live54:42events producer. The last thing I'll add54:45is you're going to be handling54:46everything from thousand to 5,000 person54:48live events. We do prison ministry,54:51overseas trips. We want to do we have54:53big plans to take Core of the Heart54:54Global and you would be the lynch pin54:57that controls all of that. So, with that54:59being said, again, like Aaron said, I'm55:02only harping it. Again, there's a lot of55:04people that are applying because you55:05have a heart for the mission, which is55:07great, but only because of past55:09experiences. So, please do not be55:27offended if we don't pick you. Just55:28understand we have a lot of input and we55:31are very specific on what we need. So,55:33we're very appreciative if you try, but55:35please again understand that we've we've55:38gone through a lot of ups and downs to55:39understand what we need or want.55:41>> So, if you want to apply, the link is in55:43the description. And also for anyone55:44else still listening, if you want to55:45come to these awesome live events, text55:47in after to 323-613357755:52for free live events in a city near you55:54>> or download Core of the Heart daily.55:56>> I genuinely want to thank you guys for55:58tuning in and just supporting Core of56:00the Heart. Without you guys, we56:02obviously we wouldn't be able to go56:04global and so we are looking for that56:07that perfect piece, right, to uh take us56:10global and help us with the live events.56:12So, if that's you, we really do56:14appreciate you guys for for applying and56:16um hope to work with you guys soon. I56:18like that Christian music is getting56:20bigger and that there's all kinds of56:23different types of Christian music now56:25instead of just like one type or56:27whatever it is. And it's also56:28interesting because I think it opens a56:30door, right? If you like a Christian56:32song, you're listening to it. I I will56:33listen to Christian music and be like56:35this is a lot better than listening to,56:37you know, bad music that makes me want56:39to go to raves or like club or like56:41party or whatever. I like I will56:43literally listen to electronic music and56:45start reminiscing like a I missed that.56:47But then I'll listen to Christian music56:48and be like, "Okay, this is better. At56:50least it's pointing." But at the same56:51time, right, I can also see how that can56:54be a distra distraction because it feels56:56really good when you listen to the56:58music, but it's doesn't feel as good if57:00you just sit there and read your Bible.57:01You know what I'm saying?57:03But it is a door opener in a lot of57:04ways. So, it's like this fine thin57:06balance of how much is it of it is a57:09distraction versus a door opener or the57:11better alternative a a positive57:14distraction versus me listening to music57:16that makes me want to go back into the57:18world should I mean all music should57:21point back to Jesus right like57:23distraction or not like that's not the57:24important thing it's like if it isn't57:27pointing back to Jesus no matter how57:28good it's packaged it's still a57:30distraction at the end of the day57:31positive or not right so is it pointing57:34back to God. Like that's the most57:36important thing. Now, a lot of people57:38when I see these people, man, I see some57:40of them, there's a lot of pride in their57:42heart. Even though they're rapping about57:44those things, you know, they're like, "I57:45slide on on the devil." And I'm just57:48like, "For show, but the devil already57:51slid on you, you know, 2,000 years ago57:53and beat the dogish out of you." So,57:55it's like, "What are you talking about?"57:56Right? So, there's always this heart57:58posture of like58:00>> I see it. They try to mix like trap and58:03like Christian music. Again, not a bad58:05thing. I don't think I think that's58:06dope. Personally, I'm like I need I58:08needed to level up because so many58:10people used to think it was corny,58:12right? When you say gospel rap, they're58:13like cornball, right? This guy's talking58:16about Jesus, whatever. But a lot of58:18these guys can legit rap. They're58:20amazing. I'm not knocking them on that.58:21>> I'm not talking about just rap music, by58:23the way. All the music that's kind of58:24coming out. You know what I'm saying?58:26>> True. Again, point it all back to Jesus58:29Christ. I have no problem58:31>> because there's clearly people that love58:34the music and it's bringing them58:37>> to do with anything.58:39>> Do you think that it's bad if you're58:40like, "Oh, yo, I'm going to church cuz I58:42really like the music." Isn't that still58:43like a opportunity to58:45>> It is. It is. But again, it's such a58:49It's not a loaded question. Okay, I'm58:51not trying to be mean. I love you guys,58:53but how do you know your church is truly58:56saved? because it's singing bomb music58:59just because you talk about Jesus. You59:01literally have to know two things. Are59:04you perfected and righteous? And are all59:07of your sins past, present, and future59:09washed? You're you can use any outlet.59:12You could use EDM music if that's the59:15case. You could use as long as it's59:17Christian centered and Jesus centered59:19and Christ centered. That's it. I'm not59:22talking about, hey guys, you know, I59:25feel like this is Christ centered. No,59:27is it biblically, scripturally Christc59:29centered? Now, the question to everyone59:32else is, how do you know? How do you59:34know it's Christ centered? Because it59:36says Jesus Christ. What does the Bible59:38say? It has to match the Bible. And if59:41it doesn't match the Bible, I'm so sorry59:43to say it don't matter what you feel.59:47It doesn't matter. So many people are59:50like that. I went to I knew this guy.59:51He's like, "I went to church, Johnny,59:53and this is a church and I I want to59:55listen to them, but when I heard you, I59:56can't listen to them anymore, but I feel59:58like I received salvation at that59:59church, but how come?" And then in my1:00:01heart, honestly, I'm like, "You didn't1:00:02receive salvation at that church,1:00:03though. Otherwise, why would you then1:00:06come out here and hear this more and,1:00:09you know, listen to what I'm saying1:00:10more?" It's like, you biblical1:00:13salvation, they see it as so small,1:00:16right? Real people, you guys know when1:00:18you really receive salvi, it flips your1:00:20world upside down. Dang, I didn't know1:00:22that. A lot of people come and they'll1:00:24be like, "Yeah, Johnny, I was saved in1:00:262006 and by my church and we preach the1:00:29same thing you preach." And in my heart,1:00:30I'm always like, "Why are you still why1:00:32are you not there then?" Right? Like I1:00:35would never leave my church. And I'm not1:00:37saying because my church is the greatest1:00:38church. I'm just saying like if you1:00:40truly know the gospel, you can't you1:00:42can't hear it anywhere else. Jeremy has1:00:45experienced this. Everyone who's1:00:46listened to the church and genuinely1:00:48listened to the true church, which is1:00:50the gospel center church, and only1:00:52preaches about the gospel, they they1:00:54everything else sounds like works to1:00:56them because you're your the veil was1:00:57lifted. So, I really hope that people1:01:00recognize and this is a heart check. Am1:01:03I really saved or am I just hoping that1:01:06I'm saved? Right? There's two different1:01:08hearts here. Am I truly I really got to1:01:10check and I got to make sure that I'm1:01:12really saved. Or am I like hoping that1:01:16I'm saved and I'm really afraid that I'm1:01:18not. So if you check me on that, I'm1:01:20going to get angry at you. Like we have1:01:22to also be real about these because this1:01:24is literal life and death. None of this1:01:26is going to matter. This podcast isn't1:01:27going to matter. In 100 years, none of1:01:29this is going to matter. But the one1:01:31thing that is going to matter is the1:01:32gospel. And are we are we are we willing1:01:35to wing it for something temporary like1:01:37feelings and trade that eternal thing1:01:41for the spiritual stuff like we have to1:01:43focus on the spirit we have to literally1:01:45sit there and go1:01:47am I a thousand% secure in my eternal1:01:51security right am I a thousand%. It's1:01:54not just like uh we'll see. God knows my1:01:57heart. Uh I like this music so I guess1:01:59this is the right ch. Like that cannot1:02:01be you. You cannot wing it. That's just1:02:03you can't do it. I wouldn't advise. I1:02:05mean you can free will but I would not1:02:08advise that. Again this is eternal life1:02:11here. This isn't I'll mess up and then1:02:13if I'm wrong I just get another life to1:02:16do it. No, that's not how it works.1:02:18That's not what the Bible says. So we1:02:19have to be very clear. Um pastor said it1:02:22straight up, you He's like, "I see these1:02:24stadiums filled with people, but they're1:02:26all unbelievers." I'm like, "Dang,1:02:27pastor, you going to say it like that?1:02:29How you know? You don't know that." But1:02:31but now when I really am in that space,1:02:33I can see that many people are, like I1:02:36say, Jesus admires very few Jesus1:02:39followers. And I'm not saying like1:02:42follow by keeping the commandments cuz1:02:45if the standard was we had to do good,1:02:47we already broke the commandments and we1:02:49were born evil. I'm saying make a1:02:52thousand% sure that you're following1:02:55biblically, not in your iso Jesus, not1:02:59in your opinion, in your perspective,1:03:01because your perspective when you get up1:03:03there is not going to matter. Your1:03:05opinion not going to matter. So, please1:03:09be 1,000% sure, not just I feel and oh1:03:13my gosh, I trust in God and you know all1:03:16this. It's it's very dangerous to do1:03:18that. what we call emotionalism is very1:03:21very very very very dangerous and I1:03:24would say people like those churches1:03:26have led more people to hell. Churches1:03:30have led more people to hell. Churches1:03:33that are centered around emotion more1:03:35than centered around scripture and true1:03:37divinity and Holy Spirit. What's a1:03:39distraction that you want to confront1:03:41today? Comment that down below. We're1:03:44going to read through it. We will pray1:03:46for you and yeah,1:03:48>> we're gonna put you on blast.1:03:50>> Put you on blast. Pin the thing.1:03:51>> Yeah. Post it on the app. Hey,1:03:53>> everyone throw tomatoes.1:03:55>> Solomon had a thousand wives and God1:03:58still called him the wisest man alive.1:04:00So why can't a man on earth have two1:04:02wives?1:04:04>> Or [snorts] or or or not even just a1:04:05wife.1:04:06>> So why can't I have two wives?1:04:07[laughter]1:04:08>> So why can't I have a wife in a side1:04:10piece?1:04:11>> Oh my gosh, Jeremy. [snorts] So the1:04:14Bible recording something is not God1:04:17condoning it. So in the Bible there's1:04:20people who get murdered. Does God, you1:04:22know, condone murder?1:04:24>> He says eye for an eye.1:04:25>> Nope.1:04:26>> I'm just kidding.1:04:26>> That's not what it means.1:04:28>> I' I've only read the Bible1:04:29threequarters of the way. What?1:04:31[laughter] I haven't even finished it1:04:32once. So don't take any what I say.1:04:35>> When you look at First Kings, um it1:04:38actually talks about Solomon in1:04:40[clears throat] his older days. It says1:04:43his wives actually turned his heart away1:04:45from God. So those girls, those women, a1:04:48thousand women turned his heart away1:04:51from God. So Jeremy, just so you know,1:04:55Solomon is the wisest man. I know you1:04:57think you're wise, but you're not as1:04:59wise as Solomon because the Bible says1:05:01no one is as wise as him. And yet those1:05:03women were still able to turn him away1:05:06from God. What makes you think that you1:05:09would not be able to be turned away?1:05:12>> Because it's not a thousand, it's two.1:05:13>> Exactly.1:05:15>> We already know what you're gonna say.1:05:17Too predictable, buddy. But it's a1:05:20representation of man. So, you know how1:05:22people sit there and they go, "If I was1:05:24Eve, I wouldn't do that. That's so1:05:26stupid." No. Adam and Eve represent1:05:29mankind. If we were in that position,1:05:31we'd fall the same. That's what God is1:05:33saying. But people don't believe that.1:05:35They have their own thoughts, their own1:05:36feelings, their own their own1:05:37interpretations. Anyone who asks that1:05:40question, it's just because they're a1:05:42dog.1:05:44They're a dog, dude.1:05:46>> Oh my [laughter] gosh.1:05:49>> I got that dog in me. I got that dog in1:05:52me.1:05:52>> Two women could never pull you away from1:05:54God. [laughter]1:05:56>> Two two men, however,1:05:59I was like, where's this one going?1:06:00[laughter] I was like, oh, cuz I'm1:06:01strong. That would leave the1:06:04>> That one would really test you.1:06:06[laughter]1:06:07[snorts]1:06:07>> Jeez.1:06:08>> Dang.1:06:09>> I don't like this running joke. It's1:06:10every episode now.1:06:12>> It be. [laughter]1:06:15>> So it it did the opposite, right? And1:06:17and I mean most of us know men like if1:06:21you guys are real with yourselves, you1:06:23like you go out, you dress nice, you do1:06:25all that for what? Like it's for the1:06:27chase. And that's for one chick. Like1:06:30imagine if you had a thousand women. You1:06:32would literally sit there and just only1:06:34focus. You can't focus on God when that1:06:36happens.1:06:36>> No, I would build the biggest company.1:06:39[laughter]1:06:40>> I would use them all.1:06:42>> Oh my gosh.1:06:42>> No. Imagine Imagine the arguments.1:06:45>> No decisions get made. [laughter]1:06:48>> They're going to be like you. We're1:06:49totally kidding.1:06:50>> What do you want to do for the company?1:06:52I don't know. What do you want to do for1:06:53the company? [laughter]1:06:54>> Hey,1:06:54>> I asked you to decide.1:06:56>> Hey, we're going to have company lunch1:06:57today. Where do you want to eat?1:06:58>> Yeah. Right. Right. [laughter]1:06:59>> Just kidding.1:07:00>> I don't know. Where do you want to eat?1:07:02>> Hey guys, stop that.1:07:03>> Sorry. The the performative.1:07:05>> Yeah, the channels are going to be like,1:07:06"How come Johnny doesn't correct him?"1:07:08Hey guys,1:07:09>> you should stop that.1:07:11>> Sorry. You hear that? Both of you guys.1:07:13>> Performative pastor.1:07:14>> No, I I saw a TikTok of the best way to1:07:16get through that trap of like, "Where do1:07:18you want to go eat?" It's like you go to1:07:19you go to your girlfriend, you're like,1:07:20"Guess where we're going."1:07:22>> And the first place she says, you're1:07:24just like, "Yeah." [laughter]1:07:25>> But what if she goes what if she goes I1:07:27DON'T WANT THAT.1:07:30THAT'S the one thing. That's what they1:07:31do. Be like, "We're going to a spot you1:07:33love. Guess where we're going."1:07:34>> Oh, yeah. That's a good one.1:07:36>> That language.1:07:37>> They just like, "Yeah, that's exactly1:07:39where we're going."1:07:41>> Then you show up and they go,1:07:42"Reservations are full. You didn't put a1:07:43reservation." [laughter]1:07:44>> Yeah. True.1:07:46>> You're looking at the guy like sweating.1:07:49>> Have you heard of Benjamin? [laughter]1:07:52>> Just kidding.1:07:53>> How do you ask for true healing from1:07:54Jesus? When you guys actually look at1:07:58the Bible, nowhere do people really pray1:08:02for healing, right? Especially in1:08:04Jesus's time. What Jesus does is he just1:08:08heals people. So the way that you're1:08:11supposed to truly heal biblically, it's1:08:13kind of crazy, is to cast it out of you.1:08:16So you're supposed to go in Jesus' name,1:08:18right? Like in Jesus' name, rise, right?1:08:20Peter does that. So in Jesus' name,1:08:22let's say you have shoulder pain. in1:08:25Jesus' name uh you know my my shoulder1:08:28is healed. Yeah. Biblically speaking you1:08:30have to kind of have dominion over it1:08:34right you have to say in Jesus name I'm1:08:36healed. So even pastor he had uh his1:08:40stomach was intestinal lining was paper1:08:42thin and the doctor said hey it's like1:08:45wet paper if you eat something1:08:48um you'll burst you'll die basically. So1:08:52pastor was sitting there and one time he1:08:54was [clears throat] thinking about Mark1:08:5511:24. He said, "Whatsoever you desire,1:08:58pray, believe, you shall receive it." So1:09:00he goes, "The doctor said one thing, but1:09:02the word of God said another thing.1:09:05Who's right?" Well, the word of God is1:09:07right. So the doctor told him when you1:09:10eat, you can only eat porridge. And even1:09:12with the porridge, you need to chew a1:09:14minimum of 100 times. 100 times before1:09:17you swallow. basically turning water1:09:20into extra water.1:09:21>> Yeah. Basically, right? And so you can't1:09:23have any meats. It's just too much for1:09:25you. And so from there, he lost I don't1:09:27know what 30 kilos or something like1:09:30that, which is like 60 something pounds.1:09:32>> And so he was he was dying basically.1:09:35Either he was going to die from losing1:09:36weight or he was going to die from, you1:09:38know, that that stomach ulcer.1:09:40>> At the end of the day, he realized,1:09:42right, and he has a famous quote,1:09:44although it hurts, I'm healed, right?1:09:47I'm healed. So, and then in Jesus' name1:09:49we pray. Amen. So, what I've learned1:09:52through the Bible reading it multiple1:09:54times is instead of just, of course, you1:09:56pray, but you also have to believe. You1:09:59have to go, "Hey, Lord, I am healed."1:10:01Not heal me of this. Lord, I believe1:10:03that you've healed me. In the Bible,1:10:06Isaiah, it says, "My sicknesses you bore1:10:08and you nailed it to the cross." So, my1:10:11shoulder is healed. If I have a bladder1:10:13issue, my bladder in Jesus' name is1:10:15healed. I believe, Father God, help my1:10:17unbelief. Right? This is how you1:10:20actually heal. And when you try it1:10:22legit, it starts to actually work1:10:25because but but it's dependent on your1:10:27faith. Do you actually believe? Do you1:10:30actually believe? And it's the same even1:10:32with my mom. My mom sat there and they1:10:35gave her, you know, 6 to 8 months to1:10:38live. She had pancreatic cancer. And my1:10:40mom said, "No, I'm healed." Right? the1:10:44pancreas is a problem to me but not a1:10:46problem to to God. She even spoke to her1:10:49pancreas. Hey pancreas, you hear that?1:10:51In Jesus name, you're healed. And it was1:10:53like what? And my mom that you know this1:10:56was what nine years ago now. It's it's1:10:59been amazing, right? She's she's grown.1:11:01And so yeah, and and again, faith moves1:11:03mountains. That's what the Bible says.1:11:05So you have to believe that she said I1:11:07was going to be the world's best gospel1:11:09preacher, right? The fact that I'm I am1:11:11even a gospel preacher is already a1:11:13miracle. I didn't believe it. She1:11:16believed it. And when she said it, she1:11:18said it to me. Like, in Jesus' name,1:11:20Johnny, one day you will be the world's1:11:23best gospel preacher. I was like, what?1:11:25Man, you're crazy. I didn't believe, but1:11:27it was almost how Jesus commands things,1:11:30right? Tell this mountain to go into the1:11:33the sea. If you believe, surely the1:11:35mountain will move. So, belief does1:11:38really move a lot of things. Even if you1:11:40strip God out of it, there are people by1:11:42sheer belief, whether it's in themselves1:11:44or just having faith. No, this is not1:11:46the end of me. I'm going to get out of1:11:48this. I'm going to get out of this. You1:11:50know, just and when they follow this,1:11:52then they start to actually grow and1:11:54they they they have hope in their heart1:11:55and they move a lot different. So, yeah.1:11:58Nobody told me that faith would be this1:11:59lonely. I thought when I gave my life to1:12:01God, everything would just click.1:12:03Community, peace, direction. A lot of us1:12:05are out here just trying to figure it1:12:07out alone. Your family thinks it's a1:12:08phase. You go to church on Sunday.1:12:10You're smiling. And then on Monday,1:12:12reality hits and you're back alone in1:12:14your home in your thoughts. I know1:12:16exactly what that's like. I got out of1:12:18prison at the age of 25. I didn't have a1:12:20church home. I didn't have friends. I1:12:22didn't even really have family to back1:12:23me up. I had God. I had a Bible. But1:12:25more importantly than anything, I had a1:12:27pastor who I could lean on to ask1:12:29questions and to just receive mentorship1:12:31and have fellowship with. And the thing1:12:32that changed everything for me wasn't1:12:34just studying alone. It was actually1:12:36having someone I could bring my real1:12:37questions to. Not the Sunday school1:12:39questions, the real ones, the ones that1:12:41keep you up at night. The ones that make1:12:43you feel unworthy because you can't1:12:45figure it out on your own. Therefore,1:12:46you feel as if you're less of a1:12:48Christian. That's why every single1:12:49Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard1:12:51Time, I go live inside the Core of the1:12:53Heart Daily App. First, we do a full1:12:55Bible class, real teaching, not that1:12:57surface level stuff. We go super deep.1:12:59You were never supposed to do this1:13:00alone. And now you don't have to. Bible1:13:02class every Saturday at 10:00 a.m.1:13:04Pacific Standard Time. Can't wait to see1:13:05you guys there.1:13:06>> So, if you're not getting the healing,1:13:07then does that mean you don't truly1:13:09believe? And then it's like in that case1:13:11it's like, no, I swear I believe and I'm1:13:14praying and I'm trying and it's like,1:13:16okay, so do I have 2% of doubt that it's1:13:19not working? You know what I'm saying?1:13:20You start1:13:20>> belief isn't that. So, belief, you won't1:13:22even ask that question. You would just1:13:24believe.1:13:26>> Does that make sense?1:13:27>> Yes. But there's still like, you know,1:13:29there's1:13:29>> But what if people aren't healed? Yeah.1:13:31They're not believing then 100%. Well,1:13:33then they then it's also like just like1:13:35a you start to second guess. Did I pray1:13:37for that correctly? Did I really?1:13:39>> If you're doing that, you're not1:13:40believing is what I'm saying.1:13:41>> Oh man,1:13:42>> that's not true belief.1:13:43>> Okay, but then I guess it's tough1:13:44sometimes because it's like1:13:46>> that's also not belief. You see how we1:13:49always trust our thoughts? Like Jeremy1:13:51is a prime example. I'm not saying he's1:13:54not trusting his doing this for you1:13:55guys. But that butt that keeps popping1:13:58up is what the unbelief is.1:14:02That butt that keeps popping. The single1:14:04T. Okay. But beauty single T.1:14:07>> We're so immature.1:14:08>> It's a really1:14:09>> He was like that butt that's popping.1:14:11>> No, that's a great point. I want to1:14:12bounce up and down on it real quick.1:14:14[laughter]1:14:17>> Oh my gosh, dude. Yo, after he just said1:14:21sponsors, [laughter]1:14:24I'm ruining that.1:14:28>> Okay, I guess I'm frustrated that part.1:14:31No, you're not. You're not. You're a new1:14:32creature. You're not frustrated.1:14:33>> I know. I know. I know. Crucified. I1:14:35learned so fast. Did1:14:36>> Bible dump you? Revelations 2:20.1:14:38>> You get what I'm saying? Can you1:14:39understand my position?1:14:40>> Of course. Of course. But that's You1:14:42have to understand our position1:14:43scripturally speaking. It's okay to have1:14:45those questions. But you can't take1:14:47ownership for that. You didn't believe1:14:49you're going to be a world's best gospel1:14:50preacher. You probably had doubts and it1:14:52still happened.1:14:53>> Yeah. But then it did take a time where1:14:55I had to go, God is working. And I have1:14:57to believe that. I'm not saying it1:14:59pompously. I still don't in my heart if1:15:01it's Johnny's heart. Oh, I don't think1:15:03I'm the world's best gospel preacher.1:15:05But if you're just a gospel preacher,1:15:07you are the world's best. You know why?1:15:09Because Jesus is preaching, not you. So1:15:12if Jesus is preaching, isn't he the1:15:14world's best gospel preacher? You're1:15:16you're you're saying that for God to1:15:17actually truly work in your life, you1:15:19have to have 100% belief. Like because1:15:22there's even parts of me I know I'm1:15:24saved. I just know. But there will be1:15:26days like, am I? Yeah, I am. But that's1:15:28not from the enemy. That's not from you.1:15:31>> So, so what I'm saying is why I keep1:15:32saying don't take the ownership for that1:15:34is every doubt that comes to you is not1:15:37from you though.1:15:38>> But then I go like okay like I believe1:15:40I'm healed. Ah doubt enemy enemy enemy.1:15:42Okay I believe I'm healed. You know just1:15:44hit that loop1:15:45>> essentially. It's not enemy enemy. It's1:15:47going who is this from? So1:15:49[clears throat] the word of God is true1:15:51no matter what we say. It's the same as1:15:52salvation. Have you guys seen Jesus1:15:54Christ nailed on the cross? Were you1:15:56there when Pontius Pilot was talking to1:15:57him? Like physically? No. Then why do1:15:59you believe though? It's the same thing.1:16:01You didn't see it, but you believe. It's1:16:03called faith. In the same way, I don't I1:16:06it doesn't look like I'm healed, but I'm1:16:08healed. So, it's it's what I what what I1:16:11what I was taught was you don't add any1:16:13of your thoughts into the word of God.1:16:16Any.1:16:17>> No. No. But you even earlier today in1:16:18the podcast had some doubts. If you're a1:16:20good leader, you have doubts still.1:16:21>> Of course. But that's not from me.1:16:23That's what we're saying. But where you1:16:25mess up is when you take ownership for1:16:27those doubts. Oh, how can I think that?1:16:29What's wrong? And that happens to me1:16:31too. That happens to me too where I will1:16:32accept it. But when I'm saying it to you1:16:34guys, I'm saying it to myself too. We're1:16:36preaching to ourselves. We all have1:16:38doubts. Doubts is not the issue. It's1:16:41when you take the doubts and go, "These1:16:42are my doubts. This is where this is1:16:44coming from me."1:16:45>> Ah, okay. Then that makes more sense.1:16:48>> Of course, God's not going to work1:16:49because then he would have to be1:16:50blessing Satan.1:16:51>> That's a bomb. Wouldn't God ever be1:16:53like, "He's stuck in his doubts, but1:16:55I'll still get them." So,1:16:56>> yeah, he's done that. He's done that,1:16:58too. That's called grace. But we can't1:17:00[clears throat] live off of that, right?1:17:02We have to be able to go, I'm a new1:17:04creature. So, when lust comes to me,1:17:06when anger comes to me, that's the first1:17:08thing that I have to think about. Am I a1:17:11lustful person or am I saved, righteous,1:17:13and a new creature? I'm a saved,1:17:15righteous, new creature. Lust showed up1:17:17though, right? So, why do we why? Oh my1:17:21gosh, lust showed. Well, yeah, the enemy1:17:23owns the world. I mean, of course, he's1:17:24going to pop up, right? But it's like, I1:17:26don't need to let him in the door, aka1:17:28my mind. I don't need to let him in.1:17:30He's there. And then it's like, oh, see1:17:31you later, bro. I'm a new creature. No,1:17:33but you got to do this. You want to do1:17:34this. You want to Nope. Nope. And do you1:17:37fall sometimes? Of course. You're like,1:17:38let him. All right. Come on in. Ah, I1:17:40knew I shouldn't have done that. And1:17:41then you close the door again. You're1:17:43like, you go back to God. This is part1:17:45of spiritual life. Like if Elijah sat1:17:48there and struggled with depression to1:17:49the point where he wanted to kill1:17:50himself and literally told God, "Just1:17:52take me now." If King David fell to1:17:55women, had multiple wives, literally1:17:57concubine, literally killed a woman, I1:18:00killed a man uh who was married to a1:18:02woman, committed adultery, what makes1:18:04you think you're not going to fall into1:18:06those things, right? If Samson uh fell1:18:08for Delilah, if all these people in the1:18:10Bible who fell, the only person that1:18:12didn't fall was Jesus Christ, right? So,1:18:15we're human. We're going to mess up.1:18:16We're not as good as Paul. We're not as1:18:18good as Samson. We're not as strong as1:18:20these people. And yet, we think we can1:18:23somehow overcome things that they1:18:25couldn't even overcome at times.1:18:27[clears throat] It's just bananas. God1:18:29is not mad at you for not having belief.1:18:31He knows your stature. He knows that1:18:33you're made of dirt. He knows your1:18:35frame, it says in Psalm. But the problem1:18:37is when we continue to think that it's1:18:40us who has to have faith and we continue1:18:43to take uh the ownership of the enemy1:18:46and his thoughts and say that they're1:18:48our own thoughts. Right? I'll give you1:18:50an example. So I have a homie who got1:18:52who's doing life without parole. He got1:18:54caught with a pistol. The pistol uh1:18:57through the finger biometric uh1:19:00fingerprint, right? The ammunition1:19:01fingerprint because guns have1:19:03fingerprints. That gun came back with1:19:05three bodies.1:19:06Right. Three bodies. Now, I know my1:19:08homie didn't catch those bodies. He1:19:10bought it. It's a throwaway. He bought1:19:12it from some other fool who did it,1:19:13right? But they caught him with it.1:19:15[clears throat and cough] And of course,1:19:16having that, they then pin the charges1:19:17on him. My homie wouldn't squeal. He1:19:20wouldn't snitch. And so, he till this1:19:22day is in prison for the bodies that he1:19:24didn't he didn't catch, right? In the1:19:27same way, that gun, however, if he1:19:30snitched, if he said, "Hey, it isn't me.1:19:31It's this guy who I bought it from."1:19:33then it then that would have that1:19:34admission of guilt would have1:19:36transferred to somebody else. But he1:19:38took that as his own. So the judicial1:19:40system didn't care. You acknowledged it.1:19:42That's what it is. It's the same thing1:19:44with with with hell. Satan plants1:19:46thoughts like that gun with the body1:19:48with three bodies. If you acknowledge1:19:50that, you're going to burn for that.1:19:52That's just what it is. That's why it's1:19:54so important to renew your mind. It's so1:19:56important to check every thought. It's1:19:58so important to not accept the enemy.1:20:00So, what God is saying, don't accept1:20:02those thoughts. Thoughts are going to1:20:03come. Guns are going to show up. But1:20:05it's like, that's not mine, though,1:20:07right? That's what you're supposed to1:20:08say. Nah, I'm a gangster. That that is1:20:10mine. All right, then you're going to do1:20:11the time and you're going to you're1:20:12going to you're going to be locked up,1:20:14you know? And it's sad. It's a sad1:20:15story, but that's gang life. In the same1:20:17way, we do that with Jesus, with with1:20:20Satan. Satan plants a thought, you're1:20:21lustful. Oh, I was so lustful. And we're1:20:24taking the charge for him, basically.1:20:26And that's why people go to hell because1:20:27of unbelief. They don't believe the word1:20:29of God. They go, "This is mine." "You1:20:32sure, Judas?" "Yeah, I betrayed him."1:20:33"You sure?" Cuz in John 13, it says,1:20:36"Satan jumped in you and he coerced you1:20:38to do it." No, it wasn't him. I I chose1:20:40to do it. Okay, then you're going to1:20:41burn. And that's just what it is at the1:20:43end of the day.1:20:44>> Pray us out, sir.1:20:45>> Let us pray. Father God, thank you so1:20:48much, Lord, for giving us this podcast,1:20:50giving us clarity, giving us wisdom to1:20:52teach us that we don't take ownership1:20:54for something that's not our own. The1:20:56enemy tries very hard to distract us.1:20:58not only with the things that we know1:20:59are distractions, but hidden1:21:00distractions as well. He makes us1:21:02idolize ourselves, [clears throat]1:21:04idolize our phones, idolize anything,1:21:07even if they're quote unquote positive1:21:08distractions, Father God. But we ask1:21:11today, Lord, that you bring us more1:21:12clarity to give us more peace and more1:21:14guidance, Lord. Also in terms of1:21:16healing, Lord, there are brothers and1:21:18sisters in here who are listening and1:21:20they struggle with healing. They1:21:21struggle with depression. They struggle1:21:22with mental illness. They struggle with1:21:24past trauma. Lord, the Bible already1:21:26told us that we're new creatures. Told1:21:28us that we're healed. It told us that we1:21:30are renewed. We are sanctified. We are1:21:32justified. And we're made holy, Father1:21:33God. And that there's nothing that we1:21:35have to wait upon except just Jesus who1:21:38already came 2,000 years ago to die for1:21:40our sins and reconcile us. Thank you,1:21:43Father God. Please allow the brothers1:21:45and sisters to believe this. Lord, help1:21:47their unbelief as well. And remember us1:21:50that we are pitiful, pitiful people made1:21:52of dirt. And we need your seed. We need1:21:54your life every single day, Father God.1:21:56Thank you, Lord. We leave everything in1:21:57your hands and in Jesus name we pray.1:22:00Amen.1:22:01>> Amen.1:22:01>> Amen.1:22:02>> And like, comment, and subscribe.1:22:03>> See you.1:22:04>> Download CH daily app. It'll really help1:22:06you.
