Unlearned Wisdom by Johnny Chang
0:00Nobody can be trusted here. Nobody. He0:02was stabbing them. Boom. Boom. Boom. Not0:04even your own, cuz they just killed0:05their own.0:06>> Yeah. Their own.0:07>> While in prison, what was one moment0:09that completely changed your perception0:10on life?0:11>> I think what surprised me the most was0:13that Satan works like in good more than0:17he does evil, [music] which is crazy,0:20right? He literally tells people to do0:22good. I think churches, especially0:24legalistic churches, unbiblical0:26churches, are sending more people to0:28hell than like the nightclubs in the0:30world. Do you think your mom visiting0:32throughout prison helped you at all? I0:34always wrestle with that to be honest. I0:36don't know. Until this day, I don't0:38know.0:40>> While in prison, what was one moment0:42that completely changed your perception0:43on life?0:44>> There was one moment, it's actually two0:47moments, but they kind of inter like tie0:50into each other. Okay. So, when I first0:52got to prison, you have to do this thing0:54called reception. And you kind of learn0:56like the rules a little bit, but it you0:58don't really learn the rules until you1:00get to like your actual you serve your1:02sentence. After 90 days of that1:04reception, you go to prison and you hit1:06a yard and you hit the main line, which1:07is general population.1:09>> Can I get some clarity here? What do you1:10mean? What's 90? You're at a different1:12location.1:12>> Yes. So, a lot of times you'll go to1:14let's say Lancaster. A lot of people1:16Lancaster is like a way station. You go1:18there, you do your 90 days because1:20they're trying to figure out are you1:22gang related? If you're a citizen, if1:25you're, you know, resident, where do1:26they put these people? Because they1:28might put you somewhere wrong and you1:30get freaking, you know, send you to your1:32grave, literally. So, and then they want1:34to see how if you can program, if if1:36you're this. So, they ask you1:37everything, right? I was already on gang1:39file. So, they're like, "All right, we1:40know where you are. You're going to go1:41here. Like, not a problem." And then1:43they're trying to find like you a bed1:46essentially, right? So after the 90 days1:48which is called reception in California1:50then from there you get shipped out. You1:52can get shipped anywhere.1:53>> It depends right on your points. So1:55there's level four, level three, level1:57two, level one, right? Level four is1:59maximum security. That's where everyone2:01points are the highest. Any violent2:02crime, shootings, you know, uh assault,2:06robbery, you know, murder, all that2:08stuff, right? So um they send you to a2:10level four. Sent me out. And then when I2:13got to the yard, um I was still very2:16young. I was what 17 years old now and2:18I'm just like all right I'm freshund2:22I don't know 50 something pounds and I'm2:24just like dang what am I going to do in2:26here like there's grown adults I2:28remember seeing just behemoth people2:29black dudes 6'3 huge I'm like damn these2:33guys are humongous so we get there and2:35[clears throat] then the first thing2:36they ask is obviously like you know2:38where you from like you got to go with2:39your people so we literally ship me to2:42the others which is all these we're2:44called the others right it's Asians,2:46Pacific Islanders, all the people that2:48don't fit into the main people, right?2:50And so I get there and I remember seeing2:53certain people and I'm like, "Hey,2:54whoopde-doop. This guy, he's from this2:57hood." And they're like, "Oh, hey, bro."2:59And he broke it down. One of the homies3:00is breaking it down, which is called3:02lacing you up or bring or giving you the3:04regulars, as they say. Um, and they're3:06telling me, "Hey, there's no gang3:07banging in here. Uh, you know, if you do3:10that, then these are the the the3:12consequences or whatever." So that was3:13the first perspective shift. So, you saw3:15another Asian dude?3:16>> Yes. Who was a a a rival gang member?3:19>> Yeah.3:19>> And I was like, "Oh, because I'm a YA3:21baby." So, I'm like, "Oh, all right. I'm3:23I'm I see what I'm gonna do now." And3:25they're like, "Oh, there's none of3:26that." And I was like, "What?" It was3:29literal culture shock. It was like,3:31"Wait, so I can't You didn't mean to3:33tell me I can't take off on this dude?3:35Like, in ya you could do that, right?3:37You just line it up with people. No, you3:39can't do that. In fact, if you do that,3:41we're going to take care of you." I'm3:42like, "What does that mean?" They're3:44like, "We're going to like basically3:46beat the crap out of you or like stab3:47you and then roll you off the yard." And3:49I was like, "Oh my god." So, I'm3:50learning these terms, roll off the yard,3:52you know, they're going to use a strap3:54and they call a strap a knife in there,3:56you know, out here. It's called a gun,3:58but it's like it's weapons. And I'm4:00like, "Oh, snap." They're like, "Bro,4:02it's one race in here. Like, there's4:04just it's just a no no. You can't do4:05that type of stuff. We have to fight4:06other people." And right there, I was4:09like, "What? This is so stupid." Like, I4:11was complainful. I remember I was just4:13like, "Ah, it doesn't make sense." And4:15then they're like, "Well, where where4:16did you come from?" I told him I I was4:18in Nellis. Ya. They're like, "Oh, Ca."4:19The guy literally is older. He's like,4:21"Bro, you got to calm down, bro. Like,4:22no disrespect. Like, you got to calm4:24down a little bit cuz you guys program4:26the worst in here. You guys like your4:28whole mindset is already shifted. So,4:30you really like" And he straight up4:32like, he didn't threaten me, but he was4:33like, "I hope we're not going to have a4:34problem." Like, that's what he said.4:36>> What was your feeling to that?4:37>> I got mad. I was like, "What do you4:38mean?" Like, he's like, "No, I'm just4:39telling you, homie. Like, you know, I4:41hope we're not going to have a problem."4:42I'm like, I hope you can follow the4:43rules cuz everybody got to follow these4:44rules. And then that's the first time I4:46heard those words come out of his mouth.4:48He said, nobody's bigger than the4:50program. And I was like, all right,4:53cool, cool. So, what do you mean? He's4:54like, no one's bigger than the car.4:56Like, you if you deal with one, you got4:59to deal with all. And I was like, dang.5:02So, he's I was like, so if I fight this5:04dude, I have to fight all of you. He's5:06like, 100%. And I was like, oh my gosh,5:08bro. Like, I'm good. You know, there's5:09too many of you guys. And then so he was5:11explaining it to me. Then how this ties5:14in is it's really true. This one story,5:17it was wild. We're on the yard5:18[clears throat] and I seen this uh5:21Hispanic dude and then some of these5:23dudes, they were like basically like5:26they call them shot callers, right? But5:28basically they're the people that have5:29the keys to the yard. It's not really a5:31shot caller, but it's like a soldier5:32like a general.5:34It was a certain race. I'm not going to5:35say which one it is, but this race was5:37like controlling everything in there,5:39right? They're sitting there and these5:42two guys are working out and they're5:45working two by two, right? So, two5:46people, two people, two people. And this5:48guy's like, "Hey, bro, like, hey, let's5:51do some push-ups real quick, you know?"5:52And then the guy was like, "I bet you5:54you can't do like more than 1005:56push-ups." And the other guy's like,5:58"What, homie?" Boom. Boom. He starts6:00doing them, right? And we're just6:02standing there. And then one of the6:04homies, he senses it. He's like, "Hey,6:05watch. Watch what's going to happen6:06right now." And then I kind of looked6:08and he's like, "That's not like not6:09normal, you know." He like peeped it. So6:11we're just looking. The dude was just6:13doing them, doing them. And he was6:14getting tired, you know, and he's like,6:15"All right, next. Next. You're next."6:17And then his homie is like, "Yeah, yeah.6:18Don't trip." And as soon as he got down,6:21he like tackled the dude who did 1006:23push-ups. He's already tired and he was6:25stabbing him. Boom, boom, boom. He was6:27hitting him in the chest area primarily.6:30And then literally because his heart6:32rate was so high from doing all those6:34push-ups, he literally bled out like way6:37quicker. And then I realized, oh snap,6:40there's levels to this. Like if he was6:42just to get him full strength, he would6:45probably have a bad like a bad fight,6:46right? So something happened to this6:48dude where he ran up the drug debt or6:49whatever it was and they had to get him6:51off the yard. And so that was the first6:53time that was the first thing I saw. I6:55was like, "Oh snap." And then right6:57there, what what changed my perspective6:59was nobody can be trusted here. Nobody.7:02>> Not even your own because they just7:04killed their own.7:04>> Yeah. Their own. And I was like, what7:06happened? And then I heard terms like7:08that they're cleaning house. I was like,7:09what does that mean? Like you have a7:11house and you got to clean it. So either7:13he was no good or he did something wrong7:15or whatever, but he had to get dealt7:17with. And then they I realized every7:20single race program like that. Us7:23blacks, Mexicans, whites, we're all the7:25same. Hey, if you do something, we're7:27gonna take care of you. Like, oh snap.7:30And then there's certain races that we7:32would either be in the streets or we7:34would know like, hey, that guy's no7:35good. And we'll go to them. We'd have to7:37go to them and go, "Hey, this guy,7:39there's paperwork on him." And they7:41would appreciate it. They'd be like,7:42"Hey, thank you, homie." And they would7:44we'd watch them on the yard. They take7:45care of them. And we're just like,7:47"Dang." They'll they'll they'll see.7:48It's not like right away, but they'll7:49they'll go they'll do their research and7:51then they'll take care of them. And I'm7:52like, "Whoa." So the it really wasn't7:55waring more than it was internal beefing7:58as we say. So they were just cleaning8:00house. And so I I I remember that8:02shifted my perspective to go the same8:05dude who's going to watch your back is8:07potentially the same dude who's going to8:08do you dirty too. So it's like this8:11thing of like you you you literally8:14cannot trust anybody. I thought I had8:17trust issues when I went to YA. Nah,8:19dude. in prison. It was way worse in8:21terms of that because there's too much8:23politicking. It's like the whole car8:26could turn on one person and that's it8:28for you. That person can't say anything.8:31Can't say anything.8:32>> Is there ever unfair treatment?8:34>> 100%.8:34>> Dang.8:35>> There's favoritism. There's that's why8:36it's called politicking. There's8:38favoritism. like this this homie could8:40do this but like if he does it different8:42like depending on which which car you're8:44in but basically there's there was times8:46where I saw that and I was like but the8:48homie kind of why are you selective8:50politicking like why are you picking and8:52choosing how you politic right now those8:56people also would get dealt with if they8:58selectively politicked the solid homies9:00would be like hey homie don't be9:02selective like that like keep it a buck9:04with everybody so it's so weird how in9:06prison everything had to be fair, which9:09was it's like amongst prisoners, things9:12had to be fair. Amongst prisoners, there9:14had to be structure. Amongst prisoners,9:16there had to be rules and regulations.9:18And of course, there's prison9:20regulations like from the the the the9:22correctional officers, but like they9:24knew who really ran the prisons, too.9:26They were just kind of like glorified9:28babysitters in a lot of way, right?9:30Because they really didn't have like9:32power, right? And there were some that9:34certain races were so powerful that9:36these cos were also getting chipped.9:39Like they would get into it with certain9:41people and then outside like they'd have9:43people on the outside like take care of9:44them like mafia style. I've seen that9:47happen too. So it's like what happened9:49to him? Oh yeah. You know he just fell9:51down the stairs.9:52>> Yeah. So I was learning like whoa. And9:56then another perspective shift that ties9:58into this is it is all about respect in10:00there. It's just it's just weird how10:03like everyone is like, "Excuse me,10:05excuse me." Somebody it's a different10:07race. They'll walk, you know, near you.10:09Excuse me, excuse me. I'm just like or10:11they'll they'll address you as sir.10:13There is no, "Hey, what's up, homie?"10:14Like, no one talks like that. It's like,10:16"Excuse me, sir. Um, I didn't like how10:19you got at me like that." And it's this10:21type of energy. It's very business-like.10:24>> But is it subjective respect? Because10:26like you could have done something that10:27rubbed someone the wrong way, but it10:29wasn't that big of a deal. Well, that's10:30why it's politic, right? You you'd kind10:32of get people involved, but there's kind10:35of a a thing where you understand like10:37what is respectful and what isn't10:38respectful in terms of subjectively,10:41yes, but it's it's a popularity thing.10:43So, they run the rules of what is10:45respectful. Hey guys, if you're watching10:47this on Spotify, I just launched my10:49Johnny Chang Spotify page. On that page,10:52you're going to get a bunch of original10:53content from me. Run up those followers.11:04Thank you. Peace.11:06>> How long did it take you to like fully11:08assimilate11:09>> program? Two years.11:10>> Two years. That's a long time.11:12>> Yeah, because I was literally like not11:14agreeing and I was also manipulative11:16myself. So, I'm like trying to find ways11:18around the program and like I could do11:21this though and like I would be like11:22that genuinely. But it took me a while11:24to fully submit and go, "All right, this11:27is good." And and then it became code11:29for me. It became like, man, if people11:32aren't programming this way, then11:34they're not they're not about it, you11:36know? And and uh I think [clears throat]11:38what ca what made me understand was like11:41I had to come back to the roots of like11:42I represent something bigger than11:44myself. So I'm in here, my homies are11:48going to look bad. I don't want my11:49homies to look bad if I don't program11:52correctly, right? And so I got to I got11:55to like carry. Even though it's as weird11:57as it is, it's kind of biblical. Like11:59when you think about other people12:00greater than yourself, then you start to12:03program correctly. Just like a mom would12:05be doing drugs, but as soon as she gets12:07pregnant, nine times out of 10, she's12:09going to kick the kick the drugs. At12:10least for when she's pregnant, because12:12she's thinking about the baby who's12:14innocent, doesn't deserve that. It's in12:16a way twisted like that for gang12:17mentality, too. It's like, damn, I don't12:19want to look like a buster around my12:21homies. Yeah, I'm scared, but I they12:22they they'll look bad, too. And then12:24I'll look bad and then it'll be worse,12:26so I rather just take it now. So, it's12:28like crazy perspective.12:30>> Feel like he needs to program.12:31[laughter]12:32>> You're a custer.12:33>> Custer.12:34>> Don't respect none of his homies.12:36>> You're a buster.12:37>> You You need to program. [laughter]12:39>> I wish they had like a civilian program.12:42>> I mean, they do. It's called Scared12:43Straight. They don't have it anymore. I12:45think12:45>> I'm signing signing them up. Ain't12:47nobody bigger than the program.12:49>> Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's from12:51And he's like until the until you become12:53bigger than the program is crazy.12:54[laughter]12:55>> I'm like Yeezy's never done time.12:58>> You're not bigger than the program.12:59That's the real13:00>> You think like Kanye would have to13:01program if he went in?13:03>> I think most of them have to I'm13:04unfortunately PC up. I think I think13:07when you go up there it's just I mean13:09you have a choice but13:10>> Do you think like Tory Lanes is is13:12programming?13:13>> Tory Lanes is PC. M13:15>> he's protective custody or what I heard.13:16I don't know. That's right.13:17>> That means you're not part of the reg.13:19You had to be separated.13:20>> Yeah.13:20>> He got stabbed like a million times.13:22>> Yeah. But to be honest though, from what13:24I've heard, these SNY yards PC yards are13:27actually more active and crazy cuz they13:29don't have rules and regulations like13:30that.13:31>> They could just do whatever they want.13:33So it there's also like prison gangs13:36that are PC gangs, which is cuz you're13:38you're you're thinking about like13:40they're all still active gang members.13:42just not with the right dudes and13:44they're just no good apparently, right?13:46So, um yeah, it's kind of crazy. I mean,13:48every human being is a human being at13:50the end of the day, right? If you're in13:52prison, you're not that isn't a happy13:54place to be. So, when you have trauma,13:56when you have that, there are really a13:58lot of crazy people in there on both13:59sides.14:00>> Both sides.14:01>> Crazy. Uh even after the two years, were14:04you able to trust anybody? like or you14:07no even even the person14:09>> it's in prison it's permanent PTSD14:11permanent on point 247 you learn to see14:15things I think I learned a lot of situ14:18situational awareness not only in ya but14:20in prison too because like ya is you14:25can't hide behind the car like there are14:27cars they call them ramflas but you you14:30cannot hide behind that because you got14:32to each their own right hey bro you got14:34fades you got to line it up all right14:35cool then People are going to watch you.14:37All right, dang. Is he a if he's a14:38buster, I'm not going to back him up.14:40That's how people are. And they'll14:41actually take advantage of you. Prison14:43is not like that. Prison, there's people14:45in there who's never been in a fight14:46even, but they're in the protection of a14:49car, meaning there's greater more the14:52bigger the race, the bigger the car, the14:54bigger the protection. Also, the bigger14:56the rules, right? So, you have to kind14:58of like you can hide a little bit in a15:00way in a sense where there's a lot of15:02like woofing. They call it they sell15:04woof tickets, right? where they're woing15:06like, "Yeah, homie." But then deep down15:08it's kind of like you've never busted a15:11grape. You've never actually done15:12anything crazy as they say, right?15:14You're just kind of saying those types15:15of things. I've seen that happen15:17multiple times. But there are also15:19people who are conducting themselves15:20like straight convicts who are15:22frontlining, raising their hand for15:24everything. I've seen that where they're15:25like, they really are with the business.15:27>> Yeah.15:28>> In prison, you'd be in the in the white15:30gang. [laughter] Like, wait, why is15:32Jeremy over there with them?15:35What do you think? It's my voice.15:37>> Jeremy, who would be with the woods?15:39>> There was this guy who was also on15:40Softwight Underbelly. He was like the15:42USC cocaine kingpin.15:44>> He like went to USC then started selling15:46drugs and he sold a bunch of cocaine.15:48And he talks about in his story how in15:49prison because he had a particular job15:52where the warden or whoever he worked15:54for allowed him access to a microwave.15:56>> Yeah.15:56>> He would make these microwave like15:58prison pizza and he became the And so16:00basically like everybody went to him16:02because he made these really good16:02pizzas. Could you have carved out are16:04there ways to carve out little job but16:06then you're cool with everybody and your16:08car is cool that you're cool with16:10everybody?16:10>> It depends cuz work is work, right? So16:12you can go out there and whatever. You16:15can do anything for work, right? People16:16go out and mop, right? They take care of16:19the day room. Uh there's people who help16:22like but but this is more like level16:24two, level one people where they drive16:26the golf carts around. They call them16:28trustees.16:29>> Yeah.16:29>> So it just depends. It depends, right?16:31But it depends on your points. It16:33depends on your crime. It depends on how16:35long you've been there, which also16:36affects your points. The longer you've16:37been, the lower they go. Um, but I mean,16:40it just depends on, like anything, you16:42have to establish trust 100%. But is it16:44cool?16:46>> They still are not above the program,16:48right? In prison, they still have to do16:50certain things. But do they have more16:51leeway? Sure. Do people respect them?16:54Sure. But they could get it too if they16:55disrespect. That's just it doesn't16:57matter who it is. They'll they'll roll16:59anybody off the yard if you're not17:00programming correctly.17:01>> But are you allowed to interact with17:02other races? Like if you're playing17:04basketball?17:04>> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, you're already17:06allowed to interact either way. Like I17:07knew homies from MS. I knew homies from17:09Mexican homies. Like it it didn't17:11matter. Like you can talk, but you can't17:13go out of bounds. You can't walk through17:15tables that are theirs. You can't use,17:17you know, phones that are specifically17:18theirs, microwaves that are theirs,17:20water fountains, basketball courts. So,17:22as long as you follow, you could still17:23like I know a gang of homies who are17:25black and from every hood, right? Right.17:27>> But when are you talking? Cuz you're in17:28your prison cell and then you have time.17:30Yeah. Yard.17:31>> But even in the yard, aren't you in your17:32areas?17:33>> Yeah. But then when you program, right?17:35Like like there's people you can run the17:36track. Like some yards have tracks. So17:38when you're running around like, "Hey,17:39what's up, homie?" That's right. There's17:40other times where like there isn't17:43really as much politics in the17:45visitation room cuz you're literally17:47just sitting like no one's like, "This17:48is my table." They your your family17:51comes and they kind of assign you and17:53the family sits down. So that's where17:55you kind of, you know, but even then17:57it's respectful like same thing. They'll17:59be like, "Oh, excuse me." Like, you18:01know, and we say that to their families18:02too when they would buy stuff for us. My18:04mom would buy stuff from the vending18:06machines, these chicken wings, whatever.18:07Like I would be like, "Oh, excuse me,18:09sir. Excuse me." And we'd have to move18:10around these people and conduct18:11ourselves. And people would just look18:13like you're in a room that literally has18:15tables all around and no, there's just18:18like a couple guards and they're just18:20watching. Everyone's just there.18:21>> Two more questions. So I just remember18:23this one. Number one, when they stabbed18:25up that dude, the push-up dude, aren't18:28there cameras? And they be And so those18:30guys get even more. They're just taking18:32one for them.18:32>> Well, I mean, if these guys are lifers,18:35it doesn't matter what they're they're18:36already never going home where you give18:38them another sentence that's making them18:39never go home again. And there's no18:40death penalty.18:41>> So then do the lifers are they usually18:43the crashs for18:44>> It depends, right? What race it is?18:46Usually it is like Asians, I can only18:49speak for our people have the most time18:51in terms of just per I guess footprint,18:55right? We we're the smallest, right?18:57Others, but we we usually catch a gang18:59of time. Like even when I went, I was19:01the shortest like short there was no19:03short- timerrs. There wasn't people19:04doing like two years or three years even19:06like they were doing a dime minimum 1019:08years, right? So there's certain people19:10that in certain races where they doing19:12less, but it depends on the yard you're19:13at too. A level three usually is like a19:15little bit less, but still it's it's19:17it's just it depends. But I guess it19:20comes down to who how you program. I19:24want to say this like cautiously because19:26you don't want to like talk about other19:27races, but19:28>> certain races will essentially19:32you have to volunteer whether you have19:35two years or 100 years,19:37>> right? I'm not going to say who, but I19:39mean it happened in our people too. It19:41just depends. Again, that that goes into19:43the politic and the favoritism, but all19:45of these things what it it ties into is19:48it shifts perspective made me realize19:50that when human beings run things, they19:52run it not only tyrannical, but19:54everything is subjective and relative to19:57the situation.19:58>> It's more of like I'm in charge, so it20:01depends. There's times where people20:03would have keys of the yard and one of20:05the guys would either step off and give20:07the keys away or they would leave or20:09they would pole out, whatever. And then20:11that's when the riots happen cuz now20:14you're fighting for control. So it's20:16like boom boom boom and it's just crazy.20:18I remember one time everyone was locked20:20down for like months because these20:22certain people would just keep going at20:24it and we're just like dang these ones20:26are going nuts right now.20:27>> So explain that. So it's two different20:28races and one guy what does it mean that20:31it's20:31>> within a race? That's why like I said20:33it's always usually inter and they will20:34go at it. So there's cars.20:36>> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. I understand. I20:38understand.20:38>> Right. Even Asians, like amongst Asians,20:40there's the20:40>> South to a Corolla car.20:42>> No, no, no, no, no, no. It's not a car20:44car, right? But essentially, there's20:47like the Vietnamese, which are probably20:49the deepest. There's obviously the Usos,20:51Samoans, Tongginans, they go with them.20:53There's Chinese.20:54>> But you guys all make up the Asian20:56>> others. We all make up the others. But20:58there's times where, you know, people21:00will struggle, a power struggle. Uh21:02there will be even even amongst that21:04they're split too. There's a sack town21:06foods, NorCal, there's a SoCal people,21:09there's all this type of stuff. So, it's21:11just it's just a lot. It's a lot that21:12you literally have to kind of like keep21:14it in your brain, right? Even amongst21:16the blacks, there's different types.21:18There's bloods, but not everybody's a21:19blood. There's ruse, there's brims,21:21there's all kinds. You're just like,21:23dang, there's cut, no cut. You got to21:25learn. You literally got to pick up and21:26be like, all right. Okay. So, then21:28there's the neighborhood car, and then21:30there's the the trays, and then there21:32it's like, oh, man, you got to learn all21:33this stuff. You become a gang expert21:35when you go to prison. Straight up.21:37>> So you were saying that like let's say21:39you're new to prison and they were like,21:40"Hey, we want you to do the poking, but21:42you're like, "Dude, I only have two21:44years. If they catch me, I'm going to21:45get 10. It doesn't matter what you're21:46going to get done."21:46>> Yeah. Yeah. So it doesn't matter.21:48>> You poke others or we poke you type21:49stuff.21:49>> Yeah. Which is kind of crazy. How do you21:51choose? Cuz it seems like there's21:53certain people where they allow them to21:55live the straight and narrow like,21:56"Okay, this guy's maybe going to church21:58and turn." No,21:59>> no, not really. That's a facade.22:01>> Dang. Like I said, no one is bigger than22:03the program. It doesn't matter. At the22:06end of the day, it's happen. It just22:08happens.22:08>> Even if you ask nicely, [laughter]22:11>> can I please not do that?22:13>> They're going to be like, give him 1022:14more stabbings. Like,22:15>> Jesus.22:16>> Yeah. No, that's not You know what you22:18signed up for. That's why people, you'll22:19hear that amongst gang members like, you22:21know what time it is, fool. You know22:22what time it means? Like, you know what22:24you signed up for. You want to be a22:26gangster, right? That's what you want to22:27do. Like, it's not, oh, I don't want to22:30anymore. It's like, nah, bro.22:32>> Did you get yours added from things you22:33did in course, but there's also good22:36time. So, the way that you if you if you22:38do those things and you're smart and you22:40just stay lay low for a little bit, then22:42you get credited good time and it almost22:43like counterbalances everything.22:45>> When your mom came to visit you, I22:46remember first you wouldn't come out and22:48see her.22:48>> Yeah, that was bad.22:49>> Then, but then you started when she22:51would come, what were those22:52conversations like? What would you you22:54sit down and just talk?22:55>> My mom would just sit there and watch22:58me. most of the conversations like why23:00are you even here dude just stare at23:02each other. I mean, she would just like,23:03"I just wanna," she would tell me, you23:05know, like, "I just want to see you,23:07Johnny. I just want to see you. I know."23:08Like, "Man, you don't know nothing."23:10Like, I would get like that. I was just23:11very hard-headed, man. I hate like23:13bringing this up, but it's true. Why?23:15Why? Like, you know, I would never She23:18would never ask me why. That's what's so23:20beautiful about mom. Like, she would23:22just go like sit there like, "Okay."23:25Like smiling the whole time cuz she knew23:27that I was like stressed out. So, I23:29would be like, "Why are you here, Mom?23:31Like, you don't have to do that, Mom. if23:32you drive and I'm trying to convince her23:34like mom if you drive two hours and I'll23:36see my mom she's tired obviously she's23:38an old lady I remember she's driving a23:40red Corolla a hearse you know and that23:43thing was like oh it was reliable but it23:46had no power she had to drive up these23:48hills she had to take like the 15 and23:50the 215 wherever it was like past San23:52Bernardino all through Victorville all23:55the way up you know and I would be like23:57why and and she would have to come late23:58at night because you would well early in24:01the morning but really it was night time24:02because you would have to wait outside24:04to then like let people in and she'd,24:07you know, get played and and I remember24:09like the cops would be like mean to her24:11sometimes just because she didn't speak24:13English and she's like overexplaining.24:16So I just remember telling her, "Stop24:18coming." She's like, "No, I I I24:21understand. I understand, but like I24:24just want to be here, you know? It's24:25like all worth it." I'm like, "Yeah, but24:27mom, like if you end up dying, then it's24:29just going to be bad." I would literally24:31say that to her, you know, you would24:32crash and whatever. And later on, I knew24:35that it was right because my dad would24:37tell me like, "Dang, your mom would24:39drive, she would pull over and then the24:42cops would like she would like sleep a24:43little. She was so exhausted, you know,24:45old lady driving 2 hours like in the in24:47the middle of the night at like 3:0024:49a.m. It's difficult." Yeah.24:51>> And the cops would pull pull over. My24:53mom said like she witnessed a beer run.24:55I remember like she pulled off to the24:57side in one of these places that was24:59really hood and she saw like these dudes25:01like rob a liquor store and do a beer25:03run and she got scared and then like25:04left. Like I put my mom through a lot,25:06right? And I I didn't I knew that but I25:09didn't want her to like go through that.25:11>> But I mean it's a mom or she's not going25:12to see her child, you know? I think25:14that's what kept her alive. But I saw my25:18mom age. My mom was a beautiful she was25:21like a model. She's tall, curly hair.25:24Like through it was during those times I25:26think my mom like messed up her eyesight25:28really bad because she was crying all25:30the time for me. She was like crying and25:32then she had like uh gray hair start to25:36come in and it was just like dang. And25:38my mom's hair was no longer like wavy25:40and curly. It was just like straight.25:42She just bags you know it was wrinkles25:45everything. I was like dang what the25:46hell? cuz my mom was really really like25:49that's one thing a lot of people would25:50be shocked like you're how old? Oh my25:52gosh, you look super young. But yeah, I25:55think we stressed the hell out of my25:57mom. Me and my brother actually. Um but26:00yeah, I remember just telling her there26:02was no conversation. It was always every26:04single week was stop coming here. Stop26:07doing that. You know, you're you're26:10making it harder for me, mom. Like I'm26:12doing time. You're making it harder. You26:13don't understand. And she couldn't26:15understand. She would she would be like,26:17"Okay, okay, I won't." Like every Asian26:20like, "Okay, I won't do that again."26:21They do the same thing.26:22>> Yeah.26:22>> So, I'm like, "Why are you keep doing26:24that?" You know, and then Yeah. I I26:26would then feel really bad and Yeah. It26:29would be bad. What I what I didn't like26:31the most wasn't that she was coming and26:33all of that was when she left, everyone26:37has to go back in, right? And uh when26:40people leave, they cry. That's the thing26:43about anyone who's been, if you watch26:46this episode, you know, you've been26:47through the CDC system. When you're26:50leaving out and they're like, "Time's26:51up." You get your last hugs, your last26:53kiss, like like all of that, right?26:56People are like crying. So, as men, like26:59the inmates, they never cry cuz they27:01just it's it's like weakness. So, we27:03have to hold in our tears. But when27:05we're getting lined up where we got to27:07like take off our pants and like they27:09got to check us before we go and they27:10they do a strip search essentially,27:12that's when you see men crying and I27:14didn't like that. Like I have to see27:16them cry, their families, and then I27:18have to see us cry basically. And so it27:21was very difficult, right? Don't go to27:22prison basically. But it's it was27:24extremely that was like the hardest part27:26was you see people travel and they're27:29like walking and they're like right at27:31the window and they're just like bye and27:33you're just like dang bro. And that if27:36that doesn't get you like you're not27:38human, right? That was the toughest part27:41for everybody was to to let your people27:43leave and you can't go home with them27:45basically.27:46>> Do you think your mom visiting27:47throughout prison helped you at all?27:49>> I always wrestle with that to be honest.27:52Uh, I don't know. Until this day, I27:55don't know. [snorts]27:56It was good cuz I I love her, you know,27:59but like I'm trying to remember that28:02mindset of like what did I feel at that28:05time? I don't I didn't like it. I'll be28:07honest. And it made me more angry. Um,28:10and it almost how I know I was broken.28:13It almost would anger me the days of28:15visitation because I knew my mom was28:18going to show up and28:21it gave me more stress because I I was28:24just waiting. So I would feel stress on28:26both ends. I would be stressed the the28:29the towards the weekends when they would28:30come and then I would be stressed every28:33time I called home for my mom because28:36I'm thinking, "Dang, she didn't make it28:37home." Right? So like it was just very28:40stressful to to be real. So did it make28:42it harder? [snorts]28:44Not in a sense of every day it was hard28:47but during visitation days and the days28:49she would leave was very difficult. So28:51over the weekends were really hard. Very28:53very hard for me.28:54>> Was she able to bring you food?28:56>> No. You can never bring anything from28:58the outside in essentially. Um, but29:01there were vending machines and you29:04could buy vending machines and my mom,29:06man, she's such, dude, I remember like29:09she would bring quarters and she would29:11like, you know,29:20[snorts]29:22she would bring quarters.29:25She had like very little cuz she was29:27poor.29:28>> [snorts]29:28>> She would always be like, "I'm sorry."29:30You know, like, "I'm sorry. I can't buy29:32you more food because I eat a lot, you29:35know, [snorts]29:37and like her quarters, I remember they29:40were like dirty or like full of lint.29:43Like they were just old." So, I know she29:45would be scrambling around to find them.29:50[snorts]29:52And that would always piss me off.29:57But it made me regret like coming to29:59prison too.30:06So I remember just telling her like,30:08"Stop coming, you know." And I'm like,30:10"You don't have to buy me anything."30:12[snorts]30:13But she would always like30:16try to do that. And then remember one30:18time, I think this was the part that set30:20me off the most was she asked other30:23people like to get some money and then30:25the next time she comes cuz I think she30:27made friends with some of these people,30:28she'll pay them back. I knew my mom took30:32as much money as she had to like come30:34see me.30:36I think I'll never understand. [snorts]30:40>> Even if it made it harder, it seems like30:42you really appreciate it. You'd be all30:44this time later. I mean now for sure.30:47[snorts]30:48>> I think what's like kind of beautiful30:50for me to see is how much you do for her30:53now.30:54>> Yeah.30:55>> So many things have happened to her that30:56has shown her God is real. But I think30:59that what has happened in your life is31:01just like mindblowing for her, you know.31:04>> Yeah. Facts.31:06I got lucky.31:08>> It has a happy ending.31:10>> Yeah.31:10>> Extremely happy ending. It was31:12>> just she went through a lot, man.31:15I wish I never put her through that31:18genuinely.31:20But I'm thankful, you know. Dang,31:23mother's love is different. Genuinely,31:27yeah. I don't know how she found the31:28strength to do it because my dad was31:30still also so mean to her at that time.31:32[snorts]31:34But dang, she just always stayed31:36resilient and it's definitely from God.31:39But I'm just Yeah, it was it was tough.31:42I had like actually for not forgotten31:44about it, but I just remember like31:45stashing it away a little bit. Yeah. I'm31:48I'm very thankful like I had to go31:50through those things. And I think she31:51had to too. Like as crazy as that31:53sounds, she had to too to [snorts] be31:56like, "Dang, she that's why when she31:58looks at me, she's always so happy." And32:00I think that's why I get so frustrated32:02with her sometimes. It's like, "Mom,32:03we're not poor anymore." I would say32:05that to her, "You can spend money." But32:07she's still like, "No." cuz she it's32:09almost like I I gave her that type of32:11permanent trauma where it's like no I32:13got to save. I make sure you guys are32:15okay. [snorts] It's also like us being32:18Asian, but I think genuinely like if we32:21had more money, who knows? Maybe we32:24wouldn't need God. So, all of it worked32:26worked out. But yeah, it's still it's32:28still painful from, you know, thinking32:31about like what I put her through. One32:33thing I think about that I struggle with32:35is I think I take my parents for granted32:37in a lot of ways. It's not like they32:38give me money or anything like that, but32:40just them being on this earth and like32:45yeah, my mom can be annoying, you know32:46what I mean? Like she's just Korean and32:49annoying sometimes. So sometimes I try32:51like sometimes I'm like I don't want to32:53have the conversation because I know32:55where it's going to go. It's like but32:57I'm just kind of like32:59when I hear your story it's it's so33:01true. It just comes from like the33:03deepest place of like love. But for me I33:06take that for granted. itself.33:08>> Yeah, I think it's normal. You know,33:10it's times like this where we can33:12reflect a little, be like, "Oh, wow.33:14They they hella went through a lot." And33:16no one's perfect, obviously. Like, we33:20still get frustrated with our parents,33:22but I think the level of sacrifice that33:24they really like, like they tried their33:26best while still having their problems33:28and still sacrificing for us was very33:31difficult. And I think they were built33:33different. like genuinely the older33:35generation is built different. But yeah,33:38the gratitude aspect also comes from33:40just recognizing like damn [snorts] I33:43didn't I wasn't a good kid either and I33:45there was I was probably difficult to33:47deal with you know so it helps me also33:50think about when my parents do become33:52difficult to deal with at times how much33:54more difficult was I like I can't even33:58take myself sometimes like let alone34:00someone else you know like handling me34:02so yeah I think it just it helps me like34:05I said in times like this think about34:08and then just be appreciative that we we34:10made it out. You know, it's crazy.34:12Parents are healthy. You know, my34:14parents are healthy.34:15>> Some people don't even have their34:16parents. Like it's like34:19[sighs and gasps] I think people would34:20give, you know, especially ones with34:22parents who pass to then be annoyed by34:25them again or you know to them you it's34:28all hindsight, right? It's like when you34:31you're never truly thankful for34:32something unless unless you lose it or34:34until you lose it. And so for me, I try34:36to remember that time to time. Like, you34:38know, you got to visit your parents. You34:40got to can't stay too busy for them, you34:43know? So, [snorts] yeah, I always wish34:45I've had the ability to fully appreciate34:47something while I have it, but you never34:50can.34:51>> Never can. Only when it's gone. Facts,34:53though. Yeah. You ever wake up in the34:56morning and [music] you want to read34:57your Bible, but you just don't know34:59where to start? You love God, you35:00believe in God, but there's this gap35:02between wanting him and actually showing35:03up for him every single day. that gap.35:05That's exactly why I created Coral Art35:07Daily. I'm Johnny Chang. I spent 1335:08years locked up. And when I got out, God35:10found me. And I spent the next 9 years35:12reading the Bible front to back 2635:14[music]35:14times. Not because I was religious, but35:16because I was desperate and I needed35:18some answers, and all of that was found35:20in [music] the word. So, I spent years35:21figuring out how to make it simple for35:23you. Every morning, I write you a35:24devotional. One Bible verse, a simple35:26breakdown, something you can carry into35:28your day. No fluff, [music] no religious35:30language, just a word made plain and35:32simple. There's even a streak tracker35:34inside the app, not to shame you, not to35:36guilt you, but to just show you that35:38you're actually showing up every single35:40day. 15 minutes a day, little bit of35:41time with God, you'll [music] start to35:43grow and you'll start to nurture. I also35:44have the full KJV Bible builtin where35:46you can take notes, you can underline,35:48you can highlight. You don't have to35:50jump between apps anymore. And when35:52you're ready to go deeper, there's35:53hundreds of hours of past [music]35:55teachings. And every Saturday at 10:0035:57a.m. Pacific Standard Time, I teach a35:58live deep dive Bible [music] class. And36:00there's also a group mentorship session36:02after that. Bring me your real questions36:04and get biblical scripture-based answers36:06with no judgment. I even built a gospel36:09bot. Do you think that there is a37:45certain age that people should have37:47children or like obviously like your37:50answer would be like they should be37:51spiritually aligned but even then like37:53dude it took I'm still a considered a37:56baby Christian. I'm 35. I don't like you37:59know what I'm saying? Like when do you38:01think someone is ready to have children?38:03>> I mean I hear from parents all the time38:05you're never actually ready even when38:07you think you are, right? because you're38:08just going to learn things like but I38:12think you have to [snorts] be yeah the38:16heart posture not just aligned but the38:18reason why the alignment is important is38:19because it makes you think about other38:21people above yourself right I know38:23people unfortunately who don't have38:26parents like ours who just think for38:29themselves selfishly and then that's why38:31there's just so much hurt and trauma so38:34I think the number one thing is you have38:35to also be kind of at least to some38:38extent a selfless person, right? Because38:41having a kid is they take 100% of your38:44attention, they take like your money,38:46they take time, they take everything.38:49And if you're not ready to give that up38:50for real, [snorts] probably don't have38:52kids. Like spiritual aside, the38:55spirituality bleeds into everything38:57else. So if you're a selfish person, you39:00most likely will be a selfish parent,39:01too, right? So39:02>> you think that a lot of people have kids39:04out of selfishness, though? It's like, I39:06want a mini me. I'm going to raise them39:08better than my parents did.39:09>> Yeah, 100%. Until they realize, dang, it39:12wasn't as easy as I thought. And then39:14that's actually why God allows that is39:16so that they can also appreciate their39:18parents, too. Right. Cuz I know so many39:20people like that who are like, man, I39:22didn't know my dad's heart until I39:24became a dad. I didn't know my mom's39:26heart until I became a mom. Like, whoa,39:28they sacrifice so much. The times where39:30I just want to like throw away my kids39:32and what the hell? You're so stupid. You39:34don't listen. And then I think about my39:36mom or I'll go and call my mom, right?39:38And I mentor people like this and39:40they're like, "Dang." And I'm like,39:42"That's the unlock that. That's what God39:44wanted you to realize was you thought39:45you could do better." And now that you39:47can't, humility comes, gratitude comes.39:49Even though it's years later, I think39:51you should share that with your parents.39:53And every time they listen and they39:54share, their parents break down and cry39:55because that's exactly what the parents,39:58that's like the unlock, right? It's39:59like, "Oh my gosh, will they ever really40:02appreciate what?" And it's not to say40:03that parents, you know, have [snorts]40:05kids for them to appreciate them cuz40:06they do it so selflessly, right? Most40:08most parents. But when they see that,40:11that's it's like that's what that's what40:13makes it all worth it.40:14>> Is it biblical to have children? And40:15should everybody have children?40:17>> I don't think everybody should have40:18children. I don't think it's biblical to40:19have children. Um because yes, it's it40:22is technically a commandment. Populate40:24the world, right? Sustain the world.40:26Sure. But you also have to be aligned.40:28You have to see the people who had kids40:30at that time were aligned with God, too.40:32Even when they fell away, they they were40:34misaligned. They realigned with God. So40:36no, I don't think everybody is fit to be40:38a parent, unfortunately, right? I think40:41there has to be a specific personality40:43type and also a heart posture. And that40:46goes back into selflessness, truly a40:50nurturing person, someone who knows how40:51to put uh people first before40:54themselves, but also knows how to draw a40:56boundary and has self-respect as well.40:59Because you could be a people pleasing41:00person and then you create a child who's41:02a monster who you treat them like a41:04princess and then in this world they41:06hear one no and it's like World War II41:09breaks out, right? That's how [laughter]41:12Jeremy, that's how Karens are born.41:15>> Subtract the K. [laughter]41:17>> That's how errands are born is crazy.41:19>> Do you think me and Aaron are fit to41:22have children?41:23>> No. Hell no. [laughter]41:25>> The quickest answer. Do you think No, I41:28don't think any of you guys should be41:29even alive. No, I'm just kidding. I'm41:30just kidding.41:31>> Who would be a better parent in your41:33eyes?41:33>> I think Aaron would.41:35>> Wait. Let me explain why. Can I explain41:38why?41:39>> You mean that from the bottom of your41:40soul?41:41>> Yeah, I have no soul. [laughter]41:43>> The bottom of your heart.41:44>> No, I think both of you guys would be41:45good.41:46>> Oh, who would be better?41:47>> I think Aaron only because Aaron's41:51really good at like making sure things41:53land softly41:55>> with you. New York, you would be an41:57Asian dad. Your kid would be super41:59genius or they would unal alive.42:01>> My kid would be [laughter]42:03literally42:04they would be like, "Yeah, I don't42:06care." Or they would be like, "Oh, I'm42:07an emo kid for me."42:10>> No, my kid is going to be Johnny Kim.42:12>> Went to Harvard, doctor, Navy, like42:14landed on the moon, astronaut.42:16>> Your kid's going to be Johnny Sims.42:18[laughter]42:20>> That's crazy, too. Get this point42:22across. But it's not just getting the42:24point across. It's like, how do we land?42:25He's very like nurturing in a way.42:28>> You don't think his kid's going to walk42:29all over him. I feel like Aaron can't42:30won't be able to tell his kid no.42:32>> No. No. Aaron's not a pushover. He's42:34just being nice to people. And then I've42:36seen Aaron pop off. We've seen Aaron pop42:38off.42:38>> Yeah. But to his kid, my kid's going to42:40be good.42:41>> No, but have you seen how he treats42:43Marvy?42:44>> Marvy. Marvy house.42:46>> No, Marvin's on a leash. Marvy's in the42:48sink. Marvy's in the42:50>> No. My cat's a good well-trained cat.42:52Your kids are going to have like42:53anxiety.42:54>> [laughter]42:55>> They're like, "Uh, oh, did I do my42:56ClickUp? Oh, did I do my tasks?42:58>> My ClickUp is [laughter] crazy." Have43:00them posting at 5 years old. That's not43:02how you post.43:03>> My kid's going to beat up Aaron's kid43:05for sure.43:05>> Jeremy's going to like exploit his kid43:07for one of those family channels.43:08>> Yeah. Yeah. [laughter]43:09>> Take Do it again.43:10>> Ryan's Toys.43:11>> Take 37.43:13>> You know, the kid's like, "Daddy, I'm43:14tired." He's like, "Do it again."43:16>> Ryan's Toys was a 20 millionaire by six.43:19>> What?43:19>> They may do Ryan's toys.43:21>> He's going to have like some type of43:22horror stories. He's one of the biggest43:24YouTube channels, right?43:25>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.43:26>> Dang. That's That's43:27>> He's still killing it. He's happy43:28playing with toys.43:29>> That's good.43:30>> If that's true, which we don't know,43:31it's a super super super rare case.43:34>> Yeah. 100%.43:34>> And I'm curious how much of that money43:36he still like has under his name. Who43:38knows what his parents are doing with it43:39at the time.43:40>> His parents seem like good. They're like43:41a tight-knit family.43:42>> Yeah. It seems good. What you think? You43:44>> mean I'd be good with 20 million, too?43:46>> Yes.43:47>> Yeah. Yeah.43:48>> Okay. So, that's just kind of a separate43:49topic. We won't go too far, but like do43:51you think early social media fame is43:53good for kids? Like the Rizzler?43:55>> Hell no.43:55>> Think of the Rizzler, Big Justice, and43:58AJ.43:58>> I think it depends on your parents44:00because you'll see side videos of the44:03Rizzler, like the Rizzler's dad allowing44:05him to be a kid.44:06>> For sure.44:07>> I think social media fame and fame in44:10general is not good for any age group.44:12>> All right, delete your page.44:13>> I would. [laughter] You guys know me.44:15Don't challenge me.44:16>> Do it.44:16>> I would right now.44:17>> I'd do it right now.44:18>> She's like44:20right now cuz for me I think you have to44:23have people who check you44:25>> like you can't like how do you get44:27checked if you're I got 20 million44:30people how right like think about that44:34>> hey you're so right the reason why I44:35decided the first thing I noticed when I44:38decided to work with Johnny or even44:39offer my help was like whoa he really44:41listens to Pastor Kim44:43>> Pastor Kim could say uh sell the shirt44:46off your back and he would44:48>> you have to have people who check you44:49man like how do you get levelheaded how44:51do you stay humble like humility is I44:54think directly also correlated with44:56success cuz people can become successful44:58but can you maintain that right it's45:00like getting into a college anyone can45:02get in but there's people who fail and45:04like drop out right so I think it's45:06important to reach a level of success45:08which takes a certain level of humility45:10but then to maintain that success it's45:13all through humility like you have to be45:15able to listen to other people you have45:16to be able to bend you have to be able45:17to break you have to be able to also45:19stand up for things that you need. But45:21all of that still takes humility.45:22>> And kids don't have the ability to do45:24any of that.45:24>> I don't think so.45:25>> No way. No way.45:26>> Definitely no one who's like Yeah. If45:28they're like underdeveloped, right? If45:30they're under even like 18y olds, I45:32don't think have that ability.45:33>> The Rizzers what, seven, seven for like45:35the last three years.45:38>> So the parents are important. Like to45:40your point, Jeremy, I think it's Yeah,45:42your parents if they run it, but they45:44also have to keep them humble. And I45:45don't mean by like stealing from them,45:47right? It's more of like, hey, just so45:50you know, it was an MMA fighter, Kane45:52Velasquez.45:53>> Yeah.45:53>> So Kane Velasquez after [snorts] even45:55though he was a champ after he he won,45:58his coach, I thought it was super46:00gangster. He would make him mop the46:01floor still. He's like, there is no46:03champion like we're all champions here.46:05The way you become a champion is to46:07still you're not greater than the gym.46:09You're not greater than your your46:10master, you know? But he would do it. He46:12would mob and he would and I'm like,46:14dang. Like that's that takes true46:17humility here.46:17>> I had an intrusive thought. If I was46:19Kane Velasquez, I'd be like, "Fight me."46:21[laughter]46:23>> The world champion. The coach is like,46:25"Fine, you don't got a mop today."46:27[laughter]46:27But some people would be like, "Well,46:28Johnny, there's still a lot of people46:30with huge egos that are still super46:32successful."46:33>> Yeah, I know. I I understand. But it46:34depends, right? Like some people get46:36grace. Some people it's inherited.46:38Whatever it is, some people do work46:40hard. Um but it's still God's grace.46:42It's not like that's cuz he doesn't want46:44to transactionalize it like that. Oh, if46:47you're humble, then you'll get success46:48cuz people also hear it like that, too.46:50>> You look exasperated that I'm about to46:51ask a follow-up question.46:52>> No, no, no. I'm just I'm having a hard46:54time opening my eyes cuz my eyes are46:56swollen.46:57>> You want a tissue or eye drops?46:58>> No, it's not that. It's just I need47:00bigger eyes. [laughter]47:02>> Do your guys' eyes swell, too, when you47:04cry?47:05>> Yeah.47:06>> Dang, dude. It's like I haven't cried47:08like that in a minute. I felt good.47:10>> Wow. When's the last time you've cried47:12like that?47:13>> I don't cry.47:14>> Last night.47:14>> Hey, Johnny.47:16>> I'm cold right here. I miss her.47:18>> No.47:19>> Drum, when is the last time you cried? I47:21remember the last time you cried. I I47:23can tell you when.47:23>> Tell us when and the reason.47:25>> I'll tell you when.47:26>> Okay.47:26>> We were eating fur at Noodle City47:30and my dad was there.47:32>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I cried when47:33he was telling the story.47:35>> Yeah.47:35>> Yeah. Not hard though. My eyes didn't47:37swell up. I didn't cry that hard. It was47:40just like a watery eyes. I was like, "Oh47:42my gosh, this story [laughter]47:44touched my heart." I c my eyes got47:46watery when you47:47>> made you cry before47:48>> by what you said or because I was47:49emotionally moved.47:50>> Yeah, you were emotionally moved. I've47:52never made you cry like that cuz I'm a47:55nice guy. I don't make people cry like47:57that. You on the other hand.47:58>> No, ain't no way.48:00>> Digging in the same hole.48:01>> No, no, no, no, no, no, no.48:03>> Oh, I remember when you cried, too.48:04Really?48:05>> Yeah.48:05>> When Aaron48:06>> in the prison? Oh,48:08>> in the Texas prison.48:09>> Which part though?48:10>> Maybe death row.48:11>> Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I was got teeyed48:13in death row.48:14>> Yeah.48:14>> Okay. So, you're like God gives grace or48:16whatever. But do you believe that people48:18the devil can cut deals with people and48:21sell their soul basically and bless48:22people to be like48:23>> they can't sell their soul, but they can48:25be blessed.48:26>> Not even blessed by the devil, but48:27favored by the devil to where they now48:29given up all morality to make money.48:32>> I think so. I think the devil will48:35utilize cuz he's a replicator. So he48:36can't create success but he can corrupt48:39success. So if someone is you know48:42successful he can then tie it into well48:44see you did that and this is and you48:46take full credit and that's in that way48:48he's corrupted them and then they48:49[snorts] think like oh I can do this I48:51can do that and they get wrecked and48:53then there's like society's Illuminati48:55whatever they say people say all that48:57but really what it is is just people48:59trusting in themselves so highly and49:01then becoming their own gods and they49:04think now every single time they49:06manifested it or something that's what49:09Satan wants is like, "Yeah, take all the49:11credit away from God. It's all you. It's49:13all you."49:14>> In that way, you do get49:15>> What about when it's something that's49:16not necessarily like a pleasant thing to49:19be proud of getting into OAF or49:23gambling, you know, like deep inside49:25their core, these people that are doing49:27like gambling deals for like 100k to49:29their, you know, adolescent audience,49:31deep in their heart when they lay their49:33head on their on their gold stitched49:35pillow, they're probably like,49:37>> "I don't think so."49:38>> Really? You think? But you don't think49:40at that point that they've sold their49:42>> no49:42>> morality.49:43>> We're just good at justifying things,49:44too,49:45>> right? It's like, well, they can choose.49:48I mean, they're an adult audience. Like,49:50they're, you know, they we can do it.49:53All these things. I've done it to49:54myself, and I'm sure the viewers have49:56done it to themselves, too, where it's49:57like, I could do this, and I know it's49:59wrong, but they had a choice.50:00>> People stay blissfully ignorant. Like,50:02they don't know that these crypto50:03casinos are scams. It's just a casino.50:06It's just like, people want to gamble.50:07I'm just giving them an option. And it's50:08like whatever. They don't care at all.50:11>> Yeah. They're like, I'm the conduit, but50:12I'm not the one who's like creating it.50:16>> Everyone can make their own choice.50:17Don't hate the player, hate the game.50:19It's like they didn't set up the casino.50:22>> Some if they didn't take the deal,50:23someone else would.50:24>> Facts.50:25>> What price? Obviously, none of us here.50:27But hypothetically,50:29>> five bucks.50:29>> Five bucks. Because like like what if it50:32was like what if they came to you,50:34Johnny, and they were like 500k a month?50:37You just have to gamble once a month.50:40>> No,50:40>> you just have to post one Instagram50:42reel. You don't even have to gamble. You50:43could just say, "Go to church and then50:46we're going to put a steak logo on the50:47clip."50:48>> Yeah. Yeah. Cuz they do that, too. Cuz50:49they'll just sponsor any random clips.50:50So, they said it has nothing to do with50:52gambling. Just for a steak logo.50:54>> No thanks.50:55>> 500K a month. A million a month.50:58>> Hey, 500k a month and however many51:02churches you want. Million dollars a51:03church. We'll give you 50 of them.51:05>> Wrong heart posture, though. It's bad.51:08>> People treat God like a list of rules51:09not to break, but you always talk about51:11relationships instead. So, what is the51:13difference in your daily life?51:15>> Rules obviously is someone who just goes51:18to church. They keep the commandments.51:20They kind of wing it, right? Well, if51:23God says, "Do X, Y, and Z. That's what51:27we have to do." And they think that51:28equates to relationship. But you can51:31basically I liken it to working at a51:34company like I don't know Target.51:36[snorts] You go to you go to Target51:38every day. You do the list. But do you51:40have a relationship with the actual51:41owner and the CEO of the company?51:43Probably not, right? You could also not51:45work at Target and know the CEO and the51:48owner. He's a friend or a relative or51:50whatever. So a relationship with God is51:53not just proximity. It's not just51:55presence with him. It's not just, oh, I51:57follow these rules and therefore that51:59equates to a relationship. A52:01relationship with God is how often am I52:04visiting him, whether it's in the word,52:06whether it's in prayer, whether it's in52:08fasting, and how often am I accepting52:12what he says and listening to what he52:14says above what I think and feel. So52:16rules can play into that, right? But you52:19have to understand the motive of why you52:21we're following these rules. Am I52:23following to be saved or am I following52:26because I'm saved? Right? Like uh uh uh52:31a a person who feels loved by Jesus and52:34God will just naturally do those things52:37because they have a relationship with52:38God. I'm doing this to prove I have a52:41relationship with God. No, I I do this52:43because I have one with him already and52:45I don't need to to try. Right? So I52:47would say a legalistic rules worksbased52:50person obeys52:53to to to become loved and a child of God52:58obeys because they're loved. Right? So53:01that's how you tell. And in in your53:02day-to-day life that can include why53:05it's so difficult is because they both53:08look the same when you look at it from53:09an actions p perspective. Both people53:12will go to church. Both people will53:14read. Both people will pray. Both people53:16will fast, but the difference is the53:19heart posture. One is doing it out of53:21boldness and confidence because they're53:23loved. The other one doesn't actually53:26feel loved and they're trying to show53:27God how much they love God. A person who53:30has a relationship with God knows that53:32no matter what I do, that love will53:34never change. That love will never shift53:37both ways. I I won't stop loving God and53:40he won't stop loving me no matter what53:42happens. That's how you know you have a53:44solid relationship with God. Nobody told53:46me that faith would be this lonely. I53:48thought when I gave my life to God,53:49everything would just click. Community,53:51peace, direction. A lot of us are out53:53here just trying to figure it out alone.53:55Your family thinks it's a phase. You go53:57to church on Sunday, you're smiling, and53:58then on Monday, reality hits and you're54:01back alone in your home in your54:03thoughts. I know exactly what that's54:05like. I got out of prison at the age of54:0625. I didn't have a church home. I54:08didn't have friends. I didn't even54:10really have family to back me up. I had54:12God. I had a Bible. But more importantly54:14than anything, I had a pastor who I54:16could lean on to ask questions and to54:18just receive mentorship and have54:19fellowship with. And the thing that54:20changed everything for me wasn't just54:22studying alone. It was actually having54:24someone I could bring my real questions54:26to. Not the Sunday school questions, the54:28real ones, the ones that keep you up at54:30night. The ones that make you feel54:31unworthy because you can't figure it out54:33on your own. Therefore, you feel as if54:35you're less of a Christian. That's why54:37every single Saturday at 10 a.m. Pacific54:38Standard Time, I go live inside the Core54:40of the Heart Daily app. First, we do a54:42full Bible class. Real teaching, not54:44that surface level stuff. We go super54:46deep. Then, we open it up. Group54:48mentorship. You bring your real54:50questions, not the polished ones, and I54:52answer them with scriptures and honesty54:53based off of real struggles that I went54:55through in my life. You were never54:57supposed to do this alone. And now you54:58don't have to. Bible class every55:00Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard55:01Time. Can't wait to see you guys there.55:03>> Yeah, I'm track. I have 16 days with my55:06relationship with God in a row.55:08>> Wow. 16 days. I have 100 plus55:11>> because I'm thinking like facts.55:13[laughter]55:14>> No, cuz I'm thinking like everyone wants55:15just like a rule book or like a55:17stepby-step guide to everything in life.55:19Like cuz that's how we're trained. You55:20>> go to school, you follow the steps, you55:22get good grades. You get into a high55:24school, you follow the steps, you get55:25into a good college. You follow the55:26steps, you get a good job. But it's like55:27not like that with relationships. Not55:29with God, not with people. There's no55:30like you can try and you can read the55:32steps and you can read books.55:33>> Yeah. And I guess in this case, you'd55:35want to read the Bible, but it's like55:36even then you can read the Bible and55:38still not fully have a relationship with55:40God if you're just reading it out of55:42systematic or out of like, oh, I have to55:44do this or oh, just cuz I was told to do55:46this. It's like you're not going to find55:48the55:49>> that doesn't just apply to the Bible cuz55:51what are you what are you taught? You55:53get a good you can work on yourself. you55:55can have the best job and then when you55:58get into a relationship like some people56:01don't even appreciate the work that you56:03put in for them. You could be the best56:05person. I know a lot of men who cheat on56:06women and the women are traditional56:09wives really good for them and they're56:11like nah I'm good I want to go and sleep56:12around. So it isn't exactly it isn't56:15like rulesbased or 1 plus 1 equals two.56:18A relationship has so many dynamics to56:20it, but it has to be tied in with love.56:23And that's why love is such a strong56:26thing, right?56:26>> I don't love reading KJV, right? It's56:29not the easiest book, but I'm following56:30what you said of read accept not to56:32understand. But I'm reading it to be56:34like I hope that this will then impact56:36me in the way that it impacts Pastor Kim56:38and Johnny and all these elders at a56:40church.56:41>> Yeah.56:41>> Is that right or wrong?56:43>> That's right. But I'm still like I'm56:45kind of doing it because I kind of want56:46this result of I do want to be able to56:48understand God in the way that you guys56:50do.56:51>> Yeah. Can I can I throw that same back56:53at heart posture back at you?56:55>> Yeah, sure. Throw it back at me. See56:56what happens.56:57>> So you can see clear. I don't56:59necessarily like doing business. I I57:02want business to do well and I think57:03I've been doing pretty well, but in my57:05standard, I don't know, it's not that57:08good. But like I'm I'm doing it in hopes57:10that I can be a marketing genius like57:13you guys in hopes that I can have more57:15more money at the end of it and more57:17soul saved. Like is that the right heart57:20posture to have?57:21>> It's not wrong.57:22>> Yeah. It's not exactly because why are57:26we doing it for there's there's reasons57:27but I can have my reasoning like just57:29cuz I don't like it. that say, "Oh, then57:31don't do business." Like I I would say57:34most people who start, especially57:35startups like us who start businesses,57:38they don't like what they're doing. They57:39have to go through the grunt work. They57:40have to go through trials and57:42tribulations like anything in life. And57:44then later it gets to a position where57:46there's systems and processes, whatever57:48gets set up and you're like, whoa. It's57:49like it's a welloiled machine as you57:52say, right? So in the same way, it's57:54like that with the KJV. It's like that57:56with the Bible, too. You just hit a57:58position where you're like, "Oh my gosh,58:00these words are floating off of the58:02Bible and it's like entering me now and58:04now I'm full sponge mode. I can fully58:06see the revelation." You'll see, Jeremy,58:09like sooner or later you're going to58:10come up to me and be like, "Yo, is this58:12the unlock here?" Like58:14>> I remember I showed you at lunch58:15yesterday.58:16>> Yeah.58:16>> I was like I I was pretty proud of58:18myself.58:18>> That was actually good. But look it58:20that's already happening. What? How long58:23have you been really reading the Bible58:24right now?58:25>> Isaiah 66. I just finished Isaiah.58:28>> Exactly. So it not even one time fully58:31and you're like that's Jesus and I'm58:33like 100%. And you're like oh snap and58:36then you know so and then there's times58:38where we're going to think we get it58:39again and we're like oh what the hell ah58:41this is hard like I got that unlocked58:43last time. How come I right then we have58:45to weave through that. It really is like58:47I think business is so good for anybody.58:49I understand now why Pastor Kim would58:51tell everybody if you can don't work a 958:54to5 do business. And I'm like, why? It's58:58so hard. Like, so hard.59:00>> But during those times, that's when you59:01have to rely on God. You literally have59:03to kill your flesh, obviously. And then59:05you have to like throw away your thought59:08process 100%. And you have to it's it's59:11just so much testing. I've learned so59:13much even just in these past like two59:14years than I think I've learned in like59:17aside from the Bible stuff, 10 years,59:19maybe even 20 years of my life. Maybe59:21even my whole life to be honest. I'm59:23kind of shocked how much like I've59:25learned, you know, and Aaron put it in a59:26perspective, too, where he's like,59:27"You're actually really good at social59:29media." And I was kind of shocked when59:31he said that. I was like, "What? That's59:33crazy." And if it's coming from you59:34guys, you guys are great at it. So, I'm59:36like, "What?" And then I kind of thought59:38about it and I was like, "Whoa, I know59:40he's not going to just like glaze me for59:41no reason." He explained it too like,59:43"Yo, like there's a lot of things that59:45you've learned and you've picked up from59:47us that you also apply cuz it's still59:4950/50." Like I we can go out think Aaron59:52was saying we can go out and teach59:53anybody, right? Were you saying that?59:55>> No, I'm just saying cuz people always59:57when we're at dinners and stuff they ask59:58us the social media advice and I'm like1:00:00you can answer half the questions cuz1:00:01you're actually really really good at1:00:03social media. Even before we met you,1:00:04you came in super strong because we've1:00:06we've tried to work with many many1:00:07people who aren't as good and we could1:00:08have all the advice in the book, but if1:00:10they don't have like that social media1:00:11prowess behind them, it doesn't work.1:00:12And you've had plenty of ideas. You've1:00:14done plenty of things like so correctly1:00:16where like you're super good at social1:00:18media. People think that like, oh, we're1:00:20the whole brains behind everything. It's1:00:21like, no, like this guy is like really1:00:22good at social media, too. Um,1:00:25genuinely.1:00:25>> And how come when I say that you don't1:00:27accept it? When did you ever say I was1:00:29good at social media?1:00:30>> I tell you all the time.1:00:31>> No, you tell me I'm a good leader. But1:00:34that's more my own thing. I'm1:00:36perfectionist when it comes to that. I1:00:37don't I still don't think I'm a good1:00:39leader.1:00:40>> Don't trust your thoughts. Why don't1:00:41[laughter] you take your Why don't you1:00:43take your own advice?1:00:44>> I mean, I can have that though. And I1:00:46think you're Oh, so I can have my1:00:49[laughter]1:00:51>> There's a six layer of hell right here,1:00:53guys.1:00:54>> That's just like, no. Yes, you can. No,1:00:56but I I think um it keeps me humble in a1:00:59way, though, right? Imagine, would you1:01:01guys rather me be like, "Bro, I'm the1:01:03best freaking leader." You guys like,1:01:05"Oh my gosh, dude." Like, [laughter]1:01:07right? Versus like, "No, I'm not doing1:01:09that good.1:01:12>> I don't consider myself the leader1:01:14here." Now, I think both of your guys'1:01:15examples of like you trying to read the1:01:18Bible, but only because you think it's1:01:19to unlock something and then you trying1:01:21to like business but only because you1:01:22think it's for something else. It's both1:01:23both the examples are kind of like1:01:25chasing the butterfly in a sense where1:01:26it's like1:01:27>> the more you guys chase the butterfly,1:01:29the more it's going to fly away, but1:01:31when you can finally like stop and sit1:01:32down, it'll land on your face. Because1:01:34like you could you could have that1:01:35thought of like, oh, I want to read the1:01:37Bible, but it's only because I want1:01:38these unlocks. You could have that for1:01:40years and years and years. We know1:01:41people who have read the Bible 16 times1:01:42and they won't have the same unlocks1:01:44because they might have that heart. So1:01:45it's like if you don't stop chasing at1:01:47some point um you could continue reading1:01:50the Bible and never have unlocks. But I1:01:51think it's because you've been able to1:01:52sit is why you're getting these unlocks.1:01:54And it's the same with you. It's like1:01:55business is not going to get easier.1:01:57None of this is going to get more fun.1:01:58There's not going to be like a day where1:01:59you're like this rocks. It's like no,1:02:01it's always you got to submit. Submit as1:02:04you say and then it will show its face.1:02:07>> You guys don't have fun. I have1:02:09>> honestly we have so much fun.1:02:10>> It's hard but it's still fun. I'm like1:02:12it's like a puzzle. It's like an endless1:02:14puzzle challenge. Treat them.1:02:15>> It's very difficult.1:02:16>> Yeah. I mean even the Bible too like1:02:18what I'm also learning is what it's1:02:20teaching me is like just like attention1:02:22span which I'm noticing. I'm like I have1:02:25to read the line and if instead of I1:02:27like go back I'm like I didn't read that1:02:28and then I like oh I missed that again.1:02:30Oh my mind wandered. Let's focus. So I'm1:02:32like yeah yeah. So I'm learning like and1:02:34and it's the first thing I turn off my1:02:36alarm. I look at my aura ring and then I1:02:38go straight into the daily devotion,1:02:41read some comments, then I read four1:02:43chapters of the Bible.1:02:44>> That's fire. I'm I'm proud of you cuz1:02:47outside looking in I know like bro, you1:02:50were a PK. You went through a lot of1:02:52legalism, went to church four times a1:02:54week, started your own alcohol company,1:02:56and like now it's almost kind of like a1:02:59miracle that you're reading the Bible.1:03:00So maybe you see that in me too where1:03:03it's like oh he's a he's doing business1:03:05like never done this before. Aaron1:03:07always puts he's like we've never done1:03:09this before. So it's like you know like1:03:11the things that a lot of the things1:03:12we're doing we've never done before. So1:03:15don't be so hard on yourself. And it's1:03:17kind of like dang it does realign me in1:03:18a lot of ways where I'm thankful that we1:03:21made it this far cuz the old me would1:03:23have been just flipping tables already.1:03:25Like why this isn't working? We spent1:03:27how much money? [snorts] You remember1:03:29Jeremy when I when I first started1:03:30you're like yeah we got to pay 200 25001:03:33to Aaron. I was like why? Like I'll just1:03:35make my own stuff. Like what do you1:03:37mean?1:03:37>> Like because he's a dirty gypsy and he's1:03:39trying to run your pockets.1:03:41>> And you're like that's not even and I1:03:42remember you put it in perspective.1:03:43You're like that's not like can I be1:03:46honest with you? I was like yeah that's1:03:47not a lot. Like Aeron's worth way more1:03:49than that. And I was like dang that's1:03:52true. I was like but why do I think like1:03:53that? You know,1:03:54>> that's so funny because you were giving1:03:55me a huge percentage of what you were1:03:57making at the time. And then for me, I'm1:03:59like, I'm giving these guys the homie1:04:00discount. I [laughter] I was charging1:04:02Jeremy's old company more than double1:04:04that. And I'm like, it's like, you know,1:04:06he convinced me to like do he's like,1:04:08just try trust X, Y, and Z. And I'm just1:04:10like,1:04:10>> it's funny. Our two perspectives, we1:04:12were both like, why would we do that?1:04:13>> Yeah. Yeah.1:04:14>> And I'm sitting in the middle like1:04:16>> Yeah. Yeah.1:04:17>> That's funny. I think what what what's1:04:19really cool is that we all ended up1:04:21trust like having faith in each other1:04:23too. Like it had to take that you know1:04:25it's like we trusted each other in so1:04:28many ways that it's not it's like1:04:30developed a like a a brotherhood on top1:04:32of it but it's more of like how1:04:34difficult is that to kind of come1:04:36together and just like align in that1:04:38way. So it's really really hard to do1:04:40that. And then also everyone sacrifices1:04:43which is very difficult cuz any one of1:04:45us could just be like I'm carrying too1:04:48like any one of us could say that. Nah,1:04:49we're all we're all bending. Like let's1:04:51just let's stay focused. It's crazy man.1:04:53It's just crazy.1:04:54>> And we're just getting started. Big1:04:57things coming.1:04:58>> Literally1:04:59>> big things coming. Big things coming.1:05:01So, uh, for those of you guys who don't1:05:04know, Gospelbot takes 10 years of my1:05:07teachings trained into an AI tool. It1:05:10only answers from my teachings. It1:05:13doesn't go to Jet GTT and Claudio and1:05:17all those other places. Okay? So, just1:05:19my teachings.1:05:20>> Where where how do I get it?1:05:21>> You get it at any app store. Type in1:05:24Core the Heart Daily or Cth Daily and1:05:28it's free to download. There's a comment1:05:30on the last video that said, "I blame1:05:32the devil for everything. My marriage,1:05:34my temper, my addiction. When is that1:05:37true and when is it just an excuse? I1:05:40blame the devil for everything. Come on.1:05:42It's three dots. That means it's going1:05:44okay. It says, let me read it here. I1:05:48have no issues saying the devil is real1:05:50because he is. And he tempts, he1:05:51accuses, he twists, and he whispers lies1:05:53into your head. But here is a line you1:05:56got to see plain. He can tempt you. He1:05:59cannot make you agree. So temptation is1:06:01not the same thing as ownership. So when1:06:03you when your marriage is cracking, your1:06:06temper is flaring and your addiction is1:06:08screaming. I do not want you saying the1:06:10devil made me do it like you were a1:06:11puppet on a string. Fear says, "Blame1:06:14everything on Satan." But faith says,1:06:16"Satan may have started the whisper, but1:06:18I still have to deal with what I agreed1:06:20with." Bars. This is a difference1:06:22between spiritual warfare and a flimsy1:06:24excuse. The devil can send spam to your1:06:26mind, but if you open the email, click1:06:29the link, and let it run your life, that1:06:31is not just an attack. That is1:06:32agreement. Very true. Very true. And1:06:35Romans 7 is in is real life. Because1:06:37Paul talks about doing what he hates and1:06:40seeing sin dwelling in the flesh. So1:06:42yeah, sometimes the enemy is involved,1:06:44but sometimes the bigger problem is your1:06:46flesh, your pride, your hurt, your fear,1:06:48or the old habit you keep feeding. Don't1:06:51say, "The devil made me do it." say, "I1:06:53was tempted, but I do not have to agree1:06:55with it." That that is where honesty1:06:57starts and honesty is where grace can1:06:59work. When you stop pretending1:07:01everything is only external, you stop1:07:03hiding and you start running to Jesus,1:07:05not to shame, not to excuses, and not to1:07:07self-hate. Now, Jesus is bigger than the1:07:09devil, bigger than your tempter, bigger1:07:11than your addiction, and bigger than the1:07:13mess in your house. And then Romans 71:07:1618-191:07:17uh gives us some closing scripture. But1:07:20yeah, and also what's really cool is1:07:22that there are related questions. So1:07:24maybe that didn't do it for you guys,1:07:25but how do I tell the difference between1:07:27temptation and agreement? Very good1:07:29follow-up question. What does Romans 71:07:31really mean in plain words? Because it1:07:33may be a little bit difficult. You got1:07:35to figure it out, right? It it'll tell1:07:37you here. How do I deal with anger1:07:39without making excuses, right? And also,1:07:42what does spiritual warfare look like in1:07:44everyday life? That's a banger.1:07:46>> Wow.1:07:48It's even doing our job. Those follow I1:07:50was going to ask that followup cuz when1:07:51it's talking about the agreement when1:07:53you open the email that's an agreement.1:07:54It's like you you can have these1:07:56thoughts come into your head. You don't1:07:57have to accept them like a spam email.1:07:59But when if you do that's you agreeing1:08:01with Satan. It's like you you can choose1:08:03to not agree with those thoughts which1:08:04is1:08:04>> 100%1:08:05>> deep deep.1:08:06>> Very cool tool. We don't even need this1:08:08guy anymore. [laughter]1:08:10>> I'm just going on Gospelbot now. Gospel1:08:12bot so much funnier and better looking1:08:15too. [laughter]1:08:17Hey man,1:08:18>> Gospel bot. That response was so funny.1:08:20Stop.1:08:21>> Gospel bot. [laughter]1:08:24>> Gospel bots's the best.1:08:25>> I'm going to put that in the con1:08:26conversion. Dude, gospel bot. Actually,1:08:28never mind.1:08:28>> Nobody told you that faith would come1:08:30with this many unanswered questions. You1:08:32pray, you read, you fast, you tithe, and1:08:34yet you're still not growing. But there1:08:36are things that you're still carrying1:08:38that you haven't said out loud to1:08:39anybody. Not because the answer doesn't1:08:41exist, but because you don't know who to1:08:43ask. That's exactly why every Tuesday I1:08:46do a group mentorship session. You bring1:08:48your questions and whatever you've been1:08:49sitting on, whether it's a decision you1:08:51can't make, past trauma you're still1:08:53working through, or a relationship1:08:55that's draining you, and I answer them1:08:56scripturally, foundationally with1:08:58biblical truths that meet you exactly1:09:01where you are. Even if you're not ready1:09:02to ask a question yet, come and listen1:09:05in. Because chances are somebody else in1:09:07that room is carrying the same weight1:09:09you are. It doesn't matter if you're new1:09:10in faith or you've been walking with God1:09:12for many years. No question is too1:09:14small, too messy, or even too1:09:16complicated. The group mentorship is an1:09:18exclusive benefit for gold members only.1:09:20To join, download Coreheart Daily or use1:09:23the link in the description. I'll see1:09:25you guys Tuesday. You came out of a1:09:26world that operates out of darkness.1:09:28When you finally understood how Satan1:09:30operates, what surprised you the most? I1:09:33think what surprised me the most was1:09:35that Satan1:09:38works1:09:40like in good more than he does evil,1:09:43which is crazy, right? He literally1:09:47tells people to do good. Like if you1:09:49look in the Bible, the only1:09:53time he ever tells anyone to do1:09:55something is maybe like Judas where he1:09:59plants J, you know, things and thoughts1:10:01into his heart to betray Jesus. But if1:10:04you notice, there's ne you will not find1:10:06a verse where Satan goes kill this1:10:08person, rob that person, lust after this1:10:11person. You'll never find a verse like1:10:12that because Satan is more about not1:10:17being obvious. He's very subtle. So, he1:10:19will sit there and be like, "Okay, this1:10:22person's a sinner, born a sinner." I'm1:10:25going to tell them to do good cuz I know1:10:28that's going to strip them of all of the1:10:30hope inside of them cuz they're going1:10:32they're bad. They don't know that1:10:33they're bad and they're going to keep1:10:34trying to do good. And when they're down1:10:36and out and they're like, "Why God?1:10:38I'mma be right there like the side piece1:10:40catching them." Like, you ever seen that1:10:42meme where like they hug them and then1:10:44they're like, "It's okay. I would never1:10:46treat you like that." and then their1:10:47face is like, "You know what about to1:10:49happen [snorts] right now, brother?"1:10:51Right? That's literally Satan on1:10:53everything as as we're like messing1:10:55around. But it's so true. He's the type1:10:57to be like, "I know. Why, God? Why?"1:11:01Right? Why would he do that? I mean, you1:11:02went and you fasted. I fasted. I prayed.1:11:04You prayed and you fasted and you1:11:07sacrificed for your kids and you were1:11:09with this man and you trusted that1:11:11pastor. That's right. I would never do1:11:13that to you. And then people get into1:11:15this heart of like, man, f church then.1:11:18Yeah, f church. Leave, man. This is1:11:20horrible. That's your god. No, god ain't1:11:22real. This is what he does. I didn't1:11:24realize that. I thought like he would1:11:27attack you in demonic ways. And of1:11:29course, those are his ways of working.1:11:31But the number one he way that I've1:11:34noticed that he works is having you come1:11:36into agreement with him, but in very1:11:38subtle ways. And it's biblical. Genesis1:11:403 talks about the serpent was more1:11:42subtle than any creature and any beast1:11:45of the field who God had created. Right?1:11:48So it talks about him just being very1:11:51very soft, right? He'll give you a1:11:53halftruth and then deceive you with a w1:11:55with a whole lie basically. So yeah.1:11:58>> Wow.1:11:59>> I think churches, especially legalistic1:12:02churches,1:12:03um unbiblical churches are sending more1:12:06people to hell than like the nightclubs1:12:08in the world.1:12:09>> Dang. I know that sounds crazy, but1:12:11>> that's a crazy one.1:12:12>> The church is literally doing more work1:12:15for Satan than any other institution in1:12:20the world, I would say, because of that1:12:23subtleness. Well, hey, just right1:12:26because the scariest verse in the Bible1:12:28is Matthew 7:21-23,1:12:30which says, "Not everyone who calls who1:12:32says Lord, Lord, shall enter my kingdom,1:12:34but those who do the will of my father."1:12:36Now, who calls God Lord? Believers or1:12:40quote unquote believers, Catholics,1:12:42Christians, Orthodoxy, believers,1:12:45basically, right? But he says, "I never1:12:47knew you. Depart from me, you who1:12:50practice lawlessness." Sandwich in1:12:52between those verses shows what these1:12:54people did. They didn't say, "I went out1:12:56and lusted in your name." They didn't1:12:57say, "I went to nightclubs in your name1:12:59and partied and drank in your name."1:13:01They literally say biblical, scriptural,1:13:05giftbased things. Haven't we prophesied1:13:08in your name? And in your name cast out1:13:11devils, which is deliverance ministry.1:13:13And then he goes, I never knew you.1:13:15Meaning, I don't have a relationship1:13:17with you. So, so Satan does not have to1:13:20really like drag you to hell. He just1:13:22has to make you think that you're doing1:13:24the works of heaven when you're really1:13:26doing the works of the enemy. And how he1:13:28does that is very subtle. It makes a1:13:31sinner like you think that you can1:13:33repent your way to heaven. A sinner like1:13:35you thinks that you can work your way to1:13:38heaven. A sinner like you thinks that1:13:40you can produce good and be like God1:13:42when you're the straight enemy of God.1:13:44And [clears throat] you know that's how1:13:46he drags you to hell basically. And1:13:48think about it. How does Satan work? He1:13:51doesn't need the people in in the world.1:13:53Like he's already he already has them.1:13:55He's not just going to torment them. and1:13:56they're already tormented because they1:13:57trust themselves and follow. He wants1:13:59the big fish. Nothing gets him off more1:14:02than going, "Wow, this person for 501:14:05years thought they were serving the1:14:07church and they were serving me." He's a1:14:09deceiver at the and an accuser and a1:14:11tempter as they call it. Right? So, his1:14:14job is to deceive you, to tempt you, and1:14:16to accuse you afterwards in that order.1:14:19Tempts you then deceives you and then1:14:21right accuses you. Look, look what he1:14:23did. And so people also don't know how1:14:26he gets access to heaven. He gets access1:14:28to heaven because of our sins. He1:14:30literally gets to go up there and it's a1:14:32courtyard and he literally is going to1:14:34sit there and go, "Look at what this guy1:14:36did. He says he prophesied, but look at1:14:38all the the no websites he clicked on1:14:40all this." And during that time when a1:14:42person is not a believer, they won't let1:14:44Jesus advocate. They'll advocate for1:14:46themselves. No, but I but I went and I1:14:49prayed and I and they start talking and1:14:51God's like, "Who the hell is this person1:14:53talking? I crucified this person. Why1:14:55are they still talking? And because we1:14:57see we the sin remains. It literally1:14:59talks about this in John. So you guys1:15:02need to learn snitches get stitches. Let1:15:05your amazing Jewish lawyer Jesus talk1:15:11for you. Plea the fifth and the fifth1:15:14represents grace because you know five1:15:16represents grace in Hebrew. And you're1:15:18able to to just let him talk. I'm going1:15:20to be like, "No, speak English. Only1:15:23speak a gospel knees." Let him speak1:15:27bars.1:15:28>> Bars keys. That's how I feel going to1:15:30our typical restaurants without Johnny.1:15:32>> Like, I do not know you. [laughter]1:15:35>> Come on, dude. Come on. I mean, like1:15:38every guy.1:15:39>> Yo, we get big back privileges because1:15:41of that.1:15:42>> Legit.1:15:43>> I'm getting face tattoos walking to the1:15:44same place like who? Someone was glazing1:15:47Aaron in the comments today and I wanted1:15:49to comment.1:15:50>> Even my mom. My mom was glazing her.1:15:52[laughter]1:15:52>> She's like, "Aaron, he come a long way."1:15:55>> Someone said,1:15:56>> "You really explain it so easy."1:15:58>> Yeah. Someone said, "Aaron is so smart1:16:00and I want to hear more of his1:16:02perspective." And I wanted to comment.1:16:04No, he's not. Dash Jeremy [laughter]1:16:08>> from Smart. Yeah. From the podcast.1:16:11>> No, he's all right. [laughter]1:16:13>> I wouldn't even say he's all right.1:16:15There are people who go to church every1:16:16Sunday. They read their Bible, but they1:16:18still cheat. They still lie. They still1:16:20steal. Like, where's the gap? Why is all1:16:22that not solved just from going to1:16:24church?1:16:25>> Cuz you can go to church and still trust1:16:27your thoughts, right? So, that's why God1:16:28says you shouldn't serve two masters.1:16:31Two masters being your own thoughts that1:16:33come from the enemy and the word of God.1:16:36So, it's the reason why people struggle1:16:38with those things is because they don't1:16:40actually know how to distrust their1:16:42thoughts. I think a lot of churches also1:16:44aren't teaching that. Like when I when I1:16:47do just like surveillance for people and1:16:49I like survey the audience and be like,1:16:50"What do you guys like, have you guys1:16:53heard any of these teachings?" They're1:16:54literally like, "No, I've been in church1:16:55for 40 years, 50 plus years. Never heard1:16:59don't trust your thoughts." In fact, I1:17:00heard the opposite that God will speak1:17:02to you through your thoughts. When you1:17:04feel peace and in the in the midst of1:17:06chaos, that's God. So it's like1:17:08feelings, emotionalism, individualism1:17:11weaved in with theology. It's a lot of1:17:14this stuff. So why then is it so hard1:17:17for somebody? Well, if you rely on your1:17:20thoughts, just like how I said earlier,1:17:23the enemy will use thoughts and feelings1:17:24to kind of persuade you and deceive you1:17:26and then tempt you and then accuse you.1:17:28You're then going to rely on something1:17:30that's unstable. But you think, no1:17:32matter how much you think your emotions1:17:33are stable, they're not stable, right?1:17:36they change like like the tide as the1:17:38Bible says, right? High tide, low tide.1:17:41So if you follow something that's1:17:42unstable, how then can you like expect1:17:46stability? It's impossible, right? So1:17:50what we teach and you know the true1:17:53Bible and the gospel teaches is don't1:17:55lean on your own understanding. Proverbs1:17:5735 and 6, my thoughts are not your1:17:59thoughts, my ways are not your ways.1:18:01Isaiah 55:8 and 2 Corinthians 5:7, walk1:18:05by faith, not by sight, because if you1:18:08see something, it'll easily uh sway you.1:18:10We walk blind to really be open. It's1:18:13kind of crazy when even in Adam and Eve1:18:16when they were blinded and they didn't1:18:18eat the fruit, their eyes weren't open.1:18:20Even though they were open, they weren't1:18:22open uh fleshly. But as soon as they ate1:18:25that fruit, they their eyes became1:18:27closed spiritually and their real1:18:29fleshly eyes opened and they became the1:18:30judge knowing good and evil. So God1:18:33wants us to recognize [clears throat]1:18:35that, right? The gap is how much do you1:18:37trust your thoughts. So the addict,1:18:41it's directly correlated to how addicted1:18:44you are to something is how much you1:18:46trust and believe in yourself. Same with1:18:48demon possession. If you trust yourself1:18:50heavily, you don't actually trust in the1:18:53word of God, then you're easily1:18:54demonpossessed because first off, you1:18:57won't see the signs coming. You won't1:18:59know what spiritual warfare is. You will1:19:01then trust your lens of what spiritual1:19:03warfare is. And then you are your own1:19:05god essentially. And that's exactly how1:19:08Satan will whisper his lies into you.1:19:10You'll think it's from God. You'll trust1:19:12those lies and then thinking it's from1:19:14God. And then you start to struggle.1:19:16Right? So lastly, people go to church1:19:20like it's something that fills their1:19:22cup, but not in a in a way that's1:19:24spiritual, in a way that's comforting.1:19:27So they go to church worshiping comfort,1:19:30thinking that that's worshiping the1:19:32creator and the comforter, two separate1:19:35things, right? I'll give you an example.1:19:37I knew a guy who would preach the1:19:38gospel, but his type of gospel was fire1:19:41and brimstone gospel. And one day I was1:19:43able to have a conversation with this1:19:45dude and be like why do you tell people1:19:47that they're going to go to hell if they1:19:48don't believe? He's like because that's1:19:50my due diligence. Like I have to tell1:19:52people and he literally said I rather1:19:55break their arm and hurt their feelings1:19:57now than see I love them too much to see1:20:00them burn in eternity. I said but why do1:20:03you do it personally for you? And he1:20:06straight up said because I would be1:20:08afraid of going to hell. So1:20:09foundationally when he's preaching, he's1:20:12preaching because he's afraid that he1:20:15won't go to like he won't go to heaven1:20:16if he doesn't save like x amount of1:20:19souls from going to hell, right? So his1:20:21salvation was riding off of how many1:20:24people he could save so that he doesn't1:20:26go to hell. So I just asked him one1:20:28question which showed that his heart was1:20:30actually self-centered, not savior or1:20:32gospel centered. And I said, "How many1:20:34people do you think it takes for you not1:20:37to get to hell?" Let's say you're you're1:20:39saving souls. What if like one person1:20:42gets saved, right? And that's all you1:20:44save is you make one disciple. He goes,1:20:46"No, no, no. You have to make many,1:20:48many, many, many disciples of many1:20:50nations. That's what I have to do to get1:20:52to heaven." And he leaked that. That's1:20:54what I need to do to get to heaven. And1:20:57I'm like, "But isn't it by Jesus alone?"1:20:59Yeah, of course it's by Jesus, but you1:21:01still have to also listen to Jesus. If1:21:03you're about Jesus, you listen to Jesus1:21:05and he says, "Make disciples. I better1:21:07make disciples." Okay. So you don't by1:21:09by your case then if you only have one1:21:11disciple then you would go to hell. And1:21:13you know what he said? I would go to1:21:14hell. That's not enough. So I was like1:21:16dude that's why you're doing it. You're1:21:18not doing it because you love Jesus.1:21:20You're doing it because you're s it's1:21:22it's it's fire insurance for you. You're1:21:24afraid to burn. And so are you really1:21:27doing it for God? No. You're1:21:29accessorizing God to secure your place1:21:32in heaven and reject hell basically,1:21:35which inadvertently is not like evil,1:21:37but it still is self-centered more than1:21:40Christ centered. And that's what a lot1:21:41of people do. They'll go to church and1:21:43be like, I'm only here not to really1:21:46have a relationship with God, and I want1:21:47a relationship with God only because I'm1:21:49addicted to something, and I rather get1:21:51out of my addiction. Right? And then1:21:53there's also the other people who1:21:54they're so in their addiction. They1:21:57indulge in their addiction, but then1:21:58they come back to church to feel better1:22:00about themselves. Still though, what's1:22:01the center? Self. Whether it's to save1:22:04themselves, to get out of addiction for1:22:06themselves, or whether it's I want to1:22:08indulge and I got to do my due diligence1:22:10so that I don't look like I'm reprobate.1:22:11See, I still go back to church. On both1:22:13ends of the spectrum, it's the same1:22:15foundation, which is myself, me, me, me.1:22:18I want to feel better or I don't want to1:22:21feel as bad.1:22:22>> That wraps the episode.1:22:24>> Yeah. So, that wraps this episode and1:22:27let us finish with prayer. Like,1:22:29>> wait, what did they comment about?1:22:31>> Everyone leave a comment. Lord, you1:23:33taught us today truly how to1:23:36differentiate our thoughts, but also how1:23:38we know whether or not the enemy is1:23:39working. There's ways that the enemy is1:23:41very subtle. And yet because of that,1:23:44Lord, we're not able to really see, but1:23:46you never asked us to see. You wanted to1:23:48be our eyes. You wanted to be our ears.1:23:50You definitely wanted our heart as well.1:23:52So, we're very thankful, God. Please1:23:53keep us diligent. Please guard our1:23:55hearts, Lord. Please humble us down, but1:23:57at the same time, please be gentle to1:23:59us, Lord, because many times we are1:24:01habitual creatures and we cannot uh1:24:03unlearn things overnight. Please help us1:24:06with that as well, Lord. And if there's1:24:08any brothers or sisters who's watching1:24:09this episode and they still have1:24:11confusion or they have doubt, they have1:24:13things that they're questioning you,1:24:14Lord, their perspectives need to change1:24:16and their heart needs to change, Lord,1:24:18please you help them and guide them1:24:20whether it's financially, physically,1:24:21emotionally, mentally, please help them,1:24:23Father God, we leave everything in your1:24:25hands, Lord. And in Jesus name we pray.1:24:27Amen.1:24:28>> Amen. Amen. And like, comment, and1:24:30subscribe.
