In today's0:25episode, we're going to talk about how0:26do we actually hear from God and know0:29when God responds.0:32We're also going to talk about what to0:34do when he says no. And towards the end0:36of the episode, we're going to talk0:38about0:40how to accept whatever answer God gives0:42you. Dang, how come you messed me up,0:44Jerome?0:44>> Oh, blame me.0:46>> Blame Jeremy Chang. Blame Jeremy Kim.0:49Anyways, um, [clears throat]0:52uh, couple weeks ago,0:56>> oh, sorry.0:56>> Welcome back to another episode.0:58>> Oh, yeah, true. Well, [laughter] go0:59ahead. Go ahead, Mr. His brain.1:01>> Welcome back to another episode of the1:02Unlearn Wisdom podcast with yours truly,1:04Pastor Johnny,1:06>> where every episode is a gospel centered1:10lesson that you could apply to your life1:12today.1:12>> Today,1:13>> today.1:14Like, comment, subscribe,1:16>> download the audio episode,1:17>> and uh thank you guys for watching the1:19ads. It funds all the stuff.1:21>> Yeah. No, for real though, thank you1:23guys for watching all the ads. It really1:25does help us. This is what keeps1:27ministry free.1:29>> Okay. All right, guys. That's how we do1:31our live events. That's how I go on Q&A1:34and deal with you guys calling me1:35heretic. That's [laughter]1:37>> No, but yeah, appreciate you guys. Um,1:40what inspired today's episode was about1:44like a week and a half ago, a friend of1:46mine, rest in peace, marked like his1:49third year of death. So, he he passed1:52away 3 years ago basically. And um I1:55remember thinking about1:58the times where I as I asked him I asked2:02God, you know, like please take care of2:04him. He was like2:07he was thinking about coming to church.2:09He had attended one Zoom service. Pastor2:13Kim, I remember had fellowshipped with2:15him two separate occasions. Looked like2:17he had a lot of change. And then in the2:19end, he ended up uh unaliviving himself.2:23And so I remember that whole time if2:26there was any soul that I genuinely2:28wanted to be saved, it was him. So I2:31remember like God please, you know, like2:33I beg a lot for my homies, but that was2:36the one dude who w who I really cared2:39about and was like, "Please God, save2:41him and help him, you know. Um, and when2:44I saw I remember seeing little glimpses2:46of hope where Pastor Kim would um, you2:49know, preach to him and and tell him2:51like, "Hey, you know, like you're dirt,2:54but dirt produces life." And he and he2:57sat there and he'd be like, "Whoa."2:58Like, so what I'm going through is what3:01I need to be going through. I3:03understand. He struggled with a lot of3:04meth addiction, struggled with just3:06drugs, bro. Shot up anything and snorted3:09anything. He was just that type of dude.3:11The always the party animal kid, but3:13really really good heart. And um yeah, a3:17lot of times you know I [clears throat]3:19question even even now when I think3:21about prayers and I remember praying3:23here I think for him single-handedly3:26probably more the only person I prayed3:28for more was probably my brother but he3:31was number two or or neck and neck with3:33my brother in terms of like going to war3:35in prayer. Prayed for him for years. Um,3:38and then when he when he died, uh, I I3:41was just like, dang, you know, like how3:44come God didn't answer that prayer? Um,3:46he gave me everything, but that one3:49thing I always kind of wondered like,3:51why didn't he give that to me? So, yeah,3:53I I think a lot of you guys can relate3:55to this. Um, and and this is why I went4:00into I wanted to go in today's topic4:02about that and what helped me overcome4:03that type of mindset to feel that type4:06of way. So yeah.4:08>> Well, so in that moment,4:10um, when that happened and you got the4:13call that he passed away, what was your4:15first honest reaction to4:18>> I cried. I cried and then I was like,4:20dang. Like I can't believe God like let4:24him go. You know, it's like cuz cuz when4:26you receive salvation, it's different4:28when you're sitting there and you're if4:31you're when you're secular and you don't4:34believe, you're like, "Dang." Okay,4:36people die, like you kind of get numb to4:38it. But when you have salvation now,4:41you're moving with faith.4:43You're moving with a different mindset.4:45You're moving with like I'm plugged into4:47God. So God is going to, you know, take4:50care of everything. But um you know,4:53when that happened, I remember like my4:55whole world shattered. And I've had like4:57my world shattered multiple times, but5:00in this way, it was just kind of like5:02nah, like no way. No way he did that.5:06And then I just I knew because the the5:09homie who told me was a real one, too.5:11And [snorts] and I just Yeah. I just5:13cried and then he was on the phone. We5:14were just crying on the phone together.5:16And uh yeah, the one I think what made5:20it worse to be honest was when my friend5:23was like, "Yo, bro, like like why did5:27God allow like him to die?" And in that5:31same moment, my heart connected there,5:33too. I I straight up was like, "I don't5:36know." You know, cuz I felt the same5:38way. So, I was like, "Yo, I don't know,5:39bro. Hey, man. I can't do this right5:41now." And I just hung up. I'm like a5:42runner. So, I remember just calling5:45Pastor John. And I remember calling um5:48telling him, "Yo, I need to talk to5:49Pastor Kim right now, you know." Um but5:52yeah, it was like very very difficult.5:55Very, very difficult. Yeah. This was5:57like right before I met you, too. Yeah.5:59It was kind of crazy.6:01Did you6:03did you doubt God?6:04>> Yeah, 100%. It It was weird though.6:09It was two hearts when I look back at6:12it. The the the one heart was6:15the the one heart was obviously dang why6:18God obviously. But there was another6:21heart that was kind of weird. It was6:23like there's a reason for this. Like you6:25don't know, but there's a reason for6:27this. like you know God you know God is6:30is not going to you know what I mean6:32like just let this ride for no reason6:35there's a there's a reasoning behind6:36this and then there was another heart6:38too that was like but still why so it6:41was both of these thoughts waring within6:44my heart pulling it you know some days6:47I'll be cool and then I'll like be6:49taking a shower and I'll just cry right6:52so it's weird it was a weird thing um6:55but I remember going to pastor Pastor so6:58gangster, man. He's like, "Johnny, just7:02be sad for one day." I was like,7:05[laughter]7:06"Okay, Johnny, just grieve. Be sad. I7:09get it. He's your friend, but be sad for7:11one day." And then after that, move7:15forward. You know, God wants to teach7:17you something. I was like, "Teach me7:18what?" Right? So, um, and and it was7:21really true because through that,7:24believe it or not, it solidified my7:26faith for Acts 16:31, right? I would sit7:29there and I would, I discovered this7:31verse and then I asked pastor about it7:34and he's like, "No, amen, Johnny. Like,7:37you know, if you believe in this,7:38there's a lot of times where your faith7:40can help people, too." And regardless of7:42what it was, I was able to kind of learn7:45that, you know, I had known about that7:47verse cuz I I thought about it for my7:49friend who died in my arms. But then7:51this kid, for some reason, I just was so7:54gripped by my emotions that I didn't7:56think about any Bible verses. I was just7:59I was completely locked into the8:01situation. I was genuinely8:06so shocked and traumatized that all I8:10saw was my friend died, my friend died,8:11my friend died, you know, and so I8:13couldn't really think about scripture8:15even to and then I had this heart of8:17like I'm just trying to pacify myself8:19with scriptures like I I know what what8:21really happened was he he smoked himself8:24and that's it. And he was right there8:26like he had two meetings with pastor. He8:29didn't say he was righteous and8:30perfected yet like but he was right8:32there. He was like I could agree I could8:34agree with some of that. I could agree8:35with some of that. That makes sense.8:36That makes like so it was very difficult8:39when right there was like the rugpool of8:41the century for me. Right. It was like8:42oh my god why you know couldn't like he8:46passed away fine. I can acknowledge8:47that. But he didn't pass away receiving8:50salvation. I felt like you know. So8:53yeah.8:54>> Well you said this helped you understand8:56like the verse in Acts. I obviously know8:59it, but can you remind Jeremy what what9:01that verse [laughter]9:02what that verse is?9:03>> Let me say let me say let me Acts 139:0616:31 is those in your household will9:09also be saved if they hear the word or9:11something [laughter]9:12>> close. It says believe9:13>> says or believe in or [laughter]9:16something.9:17>> It says dead uh9:18>> dead ass crazy word.9:21>> Yeah. No, no, it says whole squad come9:23and win.9:24>> Yeah. [laughter] Yeah. Um, no. It says,9:27"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. You9:29shall be saved, you and your house."9:32>> Mhm.9:32>> So, they believe your house will be9:34saved.9:35>> And, um, I think I knew the verse, but I9:37just didn't want at that time to, for9:39some reason, it was I just almost was9:42just wanted to find a reason to be mad9:45at God, you know? Like, there's times9:47where you know that you want to seek9:49advice and you know that this person is9:50going to give you the right advice, but9:52you're like, I'm not trying to hear from9:53you. like I I want to kind of I don't9:55know it it was a weird feeling of like I9:57wanted to sulk a little bit and and have10:00a reason to be mad. Know if you guys can10:03understand that but there's this heart10:05posture at that time too cuz I was just10:07traumatized. I was mad that my homie got10:09took you know um but yeah10:13>> in those moments did you think about10:14what you could have done differently?10:16>> Yeah.10:16>> And what were those things10:18>> man? Like were you like man I should10:20have called him on the or like he called10:21me this day I didn't pick up I because I10:23had the same moment I had like two close10:25friends that died and I thought of all10:27the moments where I was like he called10:29me then and I just texted him and I just10:31didn't call him back when I should have10:33he hit me up this date wanting to hang10:35out when we came back from Christmas10:36break and I didn't even go back you know10:38I should have just went home that10:40weekend or10:41>> yeah I I felt like that. um all these10:44scenarios. I just remember like, man,10:47how come I didn't cuz there was a he10:50wanted to go eat fur. I remember this10:52one time, but I was too busy. I forgot10:55what I was doing, but I I I basically10:56straight up told him, "Hey, I can't, you10:58know," and then he was like, "Bro, like,11:00oh, it's cool." And I knew he was like11:02broke, like he didn't have money. That11:04wasn't the issue. But I think in that11:07time, I was like, "Man, he he needs to11:11really get his life together." together.11:12So, I remember telling him, "Hey, bro,11:14like you call me a lot and I love that11:16you're my homie, but like if you go and11:19get a job or if you focus on bettering11:21yourself, do something. Then you won't11:24have to really rely on people." Because11:26my homie was a type of dude that if you11:29don't invite him to a party or you don't11:32like call him, he's going to feel some11:34type of way. Even if it if if it's any11:37event, like if he was still alive today11:39and I didn't invite him to the live11:41events and he doesn't even care about11:42God, he'd be like, "Yo, thanks for the11:44invite." Like he's that type of dude.11:47>> So, we all have people like that or you11:49could be that person. I'm like that. I11:50was like that.11:51>> I'm that person,11:52>> right? It's like at least give me the11:54benefit of the doubt. Invite me. So, he11:58was this type of person. And I at that12:02moment I was a little bit not harsh but12:04I was assertive. I said, "Hey homie, I12:08can't do this. I got stuff to do." And I12:11told him, "You got to get stuff to do."12:13Blah blah blah, whatever. And then I12:15think I left him hanging for like a12:17month because again, I was traveling. I12:19was doing what I was doing with the12:20church.12:22And yeah, then he started to drift a12:24little bit. All the homies were like,12:26"Hey, bro's kind of like cuckoo,12:29right? We seen him on the street. He'd12:31be doing some Jcast stuff, right?" Which12:34is a prison term for like 5150 people.12:37And I remember just calling the homies,12:40too, like, "Hey, just help him out. He12:42he has issues obviously. He's he's12:45smoked out." And so, yeah, through that12:50I was condemning myself a lot. why I12:54call the homies. I should have just went12:56and helped him. I could have brought him12:58to the church. I should have manipulated13:01him even to live in the church because13:03that would have helped him. He I I I13:05think he was homeless for a little bit,13:07too. All these things were playing in my13:09mind 100%. But at the end of it, I I'm13:12very thankful for church, man, honestly,13:14because I took all of those things, went13:17to Pastor Kim. Pastor Kim's telling you13:20telling me Johnny that's not your13:22responsibility. You're not his savior.13:26And even when he said that, I I got mad13:29a little bit, too. Like, I know I'm not13:31his savior, but I should have stepped13:34up. I should have said something. I13:36should have I should have. I should13:37have. I should have. [snorts]13:39And he said, "Johnny, tell me how you13:41really feel." And I think the one thing13:43that pastor said which cracked my heart13:45was at that time was he goes, "You13:49probably13:51think it's unfair that he's that close13:55and God is like just pulls it away,13:58right?" I said 100%. That's how I feel.14:01So you're questioning God's love. Would14:02you agree? 100%.14:06But have you looked to the cross? And14:08I'm like, "What does that have to do? I14:10know I'm righteous. No, no, no. Johnny,14:13have you looked to the cross? Like, what14:15does the cross represent? So, if you're14:17ever questioning God, like when I14:19question God, you have to look to the14:22cross. You don't understand what's going14:24on, but he crucified his only son at the14:27cross to show you where his heart is at.14:30And I was like, "Oh my gosh, that's so14:33true. I'm looking at the situation, but14:36I'm not looking at the cross. I I knew14:39that for years." He's taught that. I14:41teach you guys that. But I couldn't see14:44the cross. I was like super spotlighting14:47that one situation where yeah, it14:50doesn't make sense to me. But he did14:52this ultimate thing of sending his only14:55son to die for you. How can you question14:58his love? If somebody, and pastor Kim15:01use a great analogy. If somebody gave15:03you a house,15:05but they like, you know, give you the15:06cold shoulder here and there. when you15:08go back to your house that somebody gave15:11you, you just can look around and go, as15:13much as I feel like they gave me a cold15:15shoulder, whatever, but they gave me15:16this house. Like, you're not just gonna15:18disregard something bigger because they15:21gave you some they didn't fulfill15:22something smaller in your heart. In this15:24case, I'm not saying he said that your15:26friend dying is a small issue. But don't15:30you think he would understand death so15:32much that he sent his own son to die as15:34well? Like, that's just your friend,15:36Johnny. Imagine your son. Imagine,15:38right? And when he put it into15:40perspective in this way, I was able to15:41let go 100%. 100%. Right? So, church15:46leaders, man, I mean,15:49how how could I by myself, if I'm15:51keeping it real, how could I ever arrive15:53at that conclusion? I don't think I15:55would be. If like, humbly speaking, I15:57don't think I would have. Even though15:58I've read the Bible that much, it's only16:00was three three and a half years ago,16:01whatever. I still would have probably16:04had that p like pacifying heart. Yeah,16:08well, God knows. But like deep down,16:10it's it wouldn't be this perspective16:12shifted accepting. It's more of like,16:16yeah, I mean, there's some things I16:18don't understand either. Like, it's this16:20hard. But no, it freed me completely.16:23Nobody told you that faith would come16:25with this many unanswered questions. You16:27pray, you read, you fast, you tithe, and16:30yet you're still not growing. But there16:32are things that you're still carrying16:33that you haven't said out loud to16:34anybody. Not because the answer doesn't16:36exist, but because you don't know who to16:38ask. That's exactly why every Tuesday I16:41do a group mentorship session. You bring16:43your questions and whatever you've been16:44sitting on, whether it's a decision you16:46can't make, past trauma you're still16:48working through, or a relationship16:50that's draining you, and I answer them16:52scripturally, foundationally with16:53biblical truths that meet you exactly16:56where you are. Even if you're not ready16:57to ask a question yet, come and listen17:00in because chances are somebody else in17:02that room is carrying the same weight17:04you are. It doesn't matter if you're new17:05in faith or you've been walking with God17:07for many years. No question is too17:09small, too messy, or even too17:11complicated. The group mentorship is an17:13exclusive benefit for gold members only.17:16To join, download Coreheart Daily or use17:18the link in the description. I'll see17:20you guys Tuesday.17:21>> In that moment, you know, it's like it's17:23like why God, right? Mhm.17:25>> But at the end of the day, he was also17:27being dragged.17:29>> So, how much of that is God versus, you17:31know, he was completely dragged where17:33he's on drugs and things like that.17:35>> It wasn't God. That's what I also17:37realized.17:38>> It was Satan. Because when you look at17:40Hebrews, it speaks about Satan having17:42the power over death,17:45>> right? Jesus made an open triumph says17:48of principalities and spoiled it over17:51the person who has power over death17:54which is the devil. So so many times too17:59I always blame God because I think he18:02has provision over everything which he18:04does but there's also free will, free18:06choice. We choose to pick up the pipe.18:08We choose to drink that bottle. We18:10choose to whatever. So how can we then18:13sit there and say I can do whatever I18:16want God and if it I mess up it's on18:18you. So also had to realize that and go18:21this isn't God. It's it's God actually18:24gave him on the flip side so many more18:27ch like bunch of at least two that I18:29know where they he came to church but he18:31didn't want to accept it. That's just18:33the real, right? And then Satan got a18:36hold of him, right? In second Timothy,18:37it speaks about this that when people18:40can that God will give them grace to be18:42freed from the snare of the devil. Like18:45when I look at him, that's the snare of18:47the devil. He had a good family. He had18:51wealth in his family, but he made some18:55choices of I'mma I'mma thug it out.18:57I'mma be a straightup watching gang18:59member and I'mma do He did, man.19:02I'm not going to speak on him, but he19:04did some crazy things. We did some crazy19:07things. It's like wild. And yet19:11all of those things, he made a choice19:13and a decision to do those things. And19:15the enemy will work, right? And so God19:18obviously allowed that to happen for me19:20to learn, for me to understand that19:22pain. And then all these people that do19:25come to me cuz every one of us has19:26experienced a death of a family member19:29or somebody so close to us. And it made19:31me recognize and whoever comes and gets19:33mentored by me, I always teach them in19:35this way too. So it was almost19:37necessary. Was it God who allowed him to19:40die? No. I think it was the enemy who19:42dragged him to death. And through that,19:45that's what God is always warning us19:46about. Don't trust your thoughts. Don't19:48follow your heart. Right? I can hold on19:51to you, but at the same time, I love you19:52so much. I can't force you to love me19:54back because love honors choice. So you19:57have to also choose. If you keep19:59choosing yourself, you may or may not20:02make it out. You know, when I look at20:04myself too and I look at my life, Pastor20:06Kim said this, Johnny, I'm not trying to20:09disrespect your friend, but you and your20:12friend were best friends. Like birds of20:14a feather flock together. You could have20:17ended up like that, too. What What makes20:19you think that you you didn't, right?20:21You almost did, but God also saved you20:24in that, right? And immediately those20:27thoughts come up. Well, how come he20:29couldn't save him? How can it? Right.20:31But that's me again trying to dictate20:33and be God. How come he doesn't do this?20:35Questioning God. Me who's living my life20:38however I wanted to. Questioning. Right.20:40And so if God had a bigger plan and he20:42chooses where he chooses to give grace,20:45he chooses who he shows mercy to. That's20:47what God is going to do. That I think20:49was one of the biggest lessons recently20:52at least that I had to learn was letting20:54go and truly letting God and going, "Hey20:56God, for real, for real, it is what you21:00want. You're going to have your way21:02regardless of what I say, regardless of21:05how I pray." And that was such an unlock21:08for me. I think I'm a lot more free21:10because of that. So, so it's weird to21:12say that it took my friend to die in a21:14tragic thing like that because I'm21:16pretty numb to a lot of things,21:17honestly. stuff that I've been through21:19to then shape my mind to go and my21:21perspective and my faith even to walk in21:24a journey of okay God for real for real21:27I surrender how do you know if God is21:30actually so in everything that you've21:32been through or everything you've21:34learned how do you know if God is21:35actually speaking to you versus your own21:37thoughts now we've learned this a lot of21:40times right you've said it's the word21:43and or you need a spiritual leader but I21:44guess you know based on this experience21:47particularly21:49>> how did that kind of unravel to where21:51you learned those skills?21:52>> Yeah, in this particular situation, I21:56was able to truly look to Yeah.21:59scripture and what the scripture said22:01about God,22:02>> but you were saying earlier in the22:04story, you're like, I didn't want to22:06listen to the scripture22:07>> because the pastor, right? So, as I was22:10saying, I I look to scripture not22:12because I look to scripture, but the22:14people around me, which I believe God22:16put in my life, like Pastor Kim was able22:19to push me towards the scripture to22:21remind me even of what the scripture22:23spoke about. Because even if I went and22:26and looked at the scriptures by myself22:28at that time, I don't think I would have22:30been able to come to that conclusion of22:33just look to God, just look to the22:35cross, look at his love. Somebody had to22:38genuinely explain it to me the way that22:40Pastor Kim did. And I also had to22:44surrender, right? And I realized that it22:47wasn't that me me surrendering. I didn't22:49do any I didn't want to surrender, but22:51through the situation, God was kind of22:53like knocking on my heart and basically22:55saying, "You're going to have to22:57surrender. Like, I have to make you22:58surrender here. The only way here is to23:02and to move forward is to surrender to23:04me. is to acknowledge what's going on.23:07So for me personally,23:09um I wanted things to line up with what23:12I felt. Obviously, I wanted God to move23:15my way.23:17And that was the thing I had to kind of23:19humble down from is, oh, as much as I23:22know God, and it's been so many years23:25now that I've received salvation,23:28he's going to constantly have to till23:29and coal and prune. And he did. He did23:33with that. Like I said, that traumatic23:35event, right? So, how do we know when23:37God answers23:39[snorts] the best way to say it is23:41you'll know like there's no there's no23:43there's no way, right, that like his23:46answer was basically no.23:49As crazy as that sounds. Hey, can my23:51homie please come to heaven and we23:53preach the gospel together and we like23:55not come to him but come to church and23:56do all of this? I mean, I have a plan24:01bigger than this. And that's what it was24:03at the end of the day. And I want to24:04caution a lot of people because of this,24:06right? Which leads to the next point is24:07like a lot of people24:11when they say I heard from God or God24:14told me. I really want to caution people24:17from that because a lot of the times24:20what it is is not that God told you.24:23It's I finally feel like God agreed with24:26me versus telling me. It's like I I feel24:30like God validated me and he agreed with24:32me. And so I also flipped and got pissed24:37because technically if you look at it24:38foundationally, God didn't agree with me24:41when I prayed. And when he didn't, I24:43popped off. So in the opposite end of24:46the spectrum24:48also, you get happy when you pray for24:51something and then God answers. But it's24:53not really because of his will. It's24:55because he answered your will. And so24:58foundationally, it's still a selfish25:00thing. Both hearts are still selfish on25:03both ends. So what I had to learn was25:06again the surrender of it actually25:08doesn't matter. Like I can ask and make25:11my request known to God, but I have to25:14receive grace truly to be able to25:16receive that. But God says if you25:18believe it, you shall receive it. I25:20could tell when I was praying for my25:22homie, I wasn't really believing. Yes, I25:25could say that. Yeah, God's gonna save25:27him. And I would say that with my mouth,25:29but when I really peel back the layers25:31of my heart, there was a heart of like,25:33bro, he's too smoked out. Like, he's not25:36going like, "Oh, maybe." And I would see25:38myself reacting to the situation. That's25:41why I would be so happy when he would25:43go, "Ah, that makes sense." Cuz I'm25:45like, cuz I didn't have any hope. And25:47then seeing the situation was, "Wow,25:49that's hope." But what we learn as25:52Christians in 2 Corinthians 5:7 is it's25:55walk by faith, not by sight. I didn't25:58realize even just three years ago, I was26:00still walking by sight. In certain26:02situations, not all, but this situation26:05specifically, I was looking and going,26:07"Oh, he listened. Whoa, he did." And26:10then when he didn't, I'd be like, "Oh,26:12see, I knew it." So, again, I wasn't26:14reacting to God's word and having faith.26:16I was actually doing that. Now, I also26:19had condemning thoughts because of that,26:20too. See, Johnny, it's cuz you didn't26:22have faith. That's why your homie got t26:24like taken. And I went to pastor with26:27that. Pastor, is it because I didn't26:28have faith? He's like, no, it's not26:30that, Johnny. Like, everything ties back26:33into he had a choice. He made his own26:35decision. You're not a savior. And then26:38he for that he chastised me. I remember.26:40He's like, "You think you're so good?26:42You think you can save people by26:43yourself? Huh?" And I'm like, "No, I26:46just asked him a question." Jeez. But26:49legit though, I remember him doing that26:51and it like set me straight to go,26:55"Yeah, you're right. You're right.26:57You're right." You know, I all these26:59condemning thoughts I can't agree with.27:01So, yeah. Does God like how do we know27:04he answers? He'll always answer with27:06scripture. He'll always answer with27:08people who know scripture like Pastor27:10Kim in this situation. He will always27:12lead you back to his word. He'll never27:15lead you to your feelings. So it doesn't27:17matter how much it feels right cuz27:19there's times where like I said, "Oh,27:21the homiey's going to be saved. He's27:22saved. He's saved." That's cuz I felt27:24that and I wanted that. But I never27:27actually went to God and be like, "Do27:28you want that? I think you do. I let me27:31believe with you then, not look at the27:33situation." And um for that I was very27:36shameful. But that's what it took as a27:39godly remorse to go now you need to move27:43correct now. You need to actually27:44believe and not sit there and just like27:47do what what everybody else does, which27:49is, "Yeah, I believe God. Oh, you didn't27:52give me the money though. I don't27:53believe in you."27:54>> Right. It's it's this type of heart.27:56Yeah.27:57>> Was there ever a time that you were 100%27:59certain that God was speaking to you,28:01but then you ended up being dead wrong?28:04[snorts]28:04>> Yeah. Um,28:09when I Yeah. So after I got out,28:12obviously I gave up my um28:16gave up my my street pharmacy career.28:20[snorts and laughter]28:21I'm out there, you know,28:23>> your doctorate degree.28:24>> Yeah, my doctorate degree and um28:27brickstepping28:28and gymnastics of the bricks. No, I'm28:31just kidding. But I I remember this was28:34a Korean pastor that had left the church28:36at this time. He was the one who he28:38tried to like hook me up with working at28:41some sushi restaurant. I was like, I28:43don't work at no sushi restaurant. What28:45the heck?28:46>> You know, I sell fish scale. I sell fish28:48scale. I don't sell fishes. Anyways, I'm28:50sitting there and I'm just like, dude,28:53like I'm okay. But then he goes, you28:55know what, Johnny? Like, you should pray28:56and and fast. He taught me, I remember28:58he told me to pray and to fast and that29:01God will give you something, you know,29:04maybe an idea, whatever, whatever.29:06And I started Johnny's Jang Mian. I29:09started a restaurant, right? I wish29:12Jeremy was there before because he would29:14have completely talk me. Bad idea, by29:16the way. Do not start a restaurant.29:17>> Now, you still be fighting me with about29:19it today.29:21>> Every other.29:22>> Let me explain. Let me explain why. Can29:24I explain the context? Why? Because I'm29:26a big back and I don't need profit from29:28that. I just want to eat.29:29>> Yeah. But you get you like all variety29:31food. You would not eat the same food29:33every single29:33>> Yeah. But I would just have them. I29:35would order things. I would have a29:36little license that I could order like29:37cheaper stuff. I could get a Wagu for29:39the, you know, very cheap price and I29:42have them come and make it at my29:43restaurant. [laughter]29:44Aaron J. Ain't that true? Figgity facts.29:46>> This guy would use this restaurant to29:48get restaurant supply prices. [laughter]29:50>> Yeah.29:50>> To to make his chef cook everything but29:52the restaurant food,29:54>> right? He would go once a year also.29:56>> Yeah.29:58>> I don't like you guys.29:59>> Yeah.29:59>> No, but Yeah. No. No. But I I genuinely30:03Jeremy's right. Sometimes I'm like, "Why30:04really? Is it that bad?"30:06>> We go.30:06>> I feel like Look, listen.30:07>> We eat anywhere. We eat anywhere that's30:09doing decent and it's packed. He's like,30:10"We could do something like this."30:11[laughter] And I'm like,30:13>> "No,30:15>> no,30:15>> that's true. After failing a30:17restaurant." True. And I'm still See, we30:18don't learn. We don't learn either,30:19right? I'm literally or I don't learn.30:21They They're good. But I'm sitting here30:23and I'm And30:24>> I prayed for that and sure enough, an30:28opportunity came up. Money was got sent.30:32you know, I had some money left over. It30:34was ex It was literally exactly the the30:37amount.30:37>> Dang. I would for real feel like, okay,30:39this sign. So, I sat there and I'm like,30:42"Oh, this is a sign from God."30:44>> At that moment, I'm stupid. I should30:46have went to Pastor Kim. I didn't30:48>> because in my hearts of hearts, I wanted30:50it. That's why. And I knew low key that30:54I wasn't, mind you, this is early on in30:56my walk. I knew that low-key if pastor30:58said no, I would be like, "Ah." Ah. So I31:00went around him and I turned God's no or31:03wait into a yes. That's what I did. And31:05so I sat there and I'm like, "All right.31:08Well, other p this pastor, by the way,31:11ended up leaving the church." L31:13discernment. Okay. He sat there and he31:16was like, "Johnny, this is from God,31:18too. You know, you should follow that."31:20And yeah, we'll see. And if it isn't,31:22God will still work. Which wasn't wrong,31:24right? He was kind of right in that31:25aspect. I went, I pulled together31:28people, my dad, my family, everybody.31:31And I was like, "Guys, we got this31:32money. We can do this." We're sitting31:35there and we're just like straight up31:38popping ideas. And my dad's like, "Whoa,31:41I can own this and you can own this."31:42And it was just all31:45hype at the end of the day. We chose a31:49spot in, you know, in LA. The spot was31:55doodoo garbage. It was just a bad31:57Remember they say location, location,31:59location. We were overly confident. No,32:01my dad came. And my dad cooks really w32:03really well, by the way. Really, really32:05well. Like till this day, nobody has32:07cooked as good jaong as my dad. Legit,32:11he he knows handpressed noodles. Like,32:14bro knows how to get down with that,32:16right? But um we do it, we start it and32:20yeah, we start to market it. My dad32:23starts to change the pricing, change the32:25menu. All just typical things don't work32:29out. We try we try to tweak and at the32:32end of the day, we confused the people.32:35What was it? Was it It started off as a32:37Chinese restaurant, authentic, then it32:39became like a fusion restaurant. Then it32:41became like a seafood boil. Then it it32:43was bad.32:44>> Just whatever Johnny wanted to eat.32:46Stop. [laughter] Stop right now. Stop32:48right now. Turn off the cameras. We're32:50running in the fade.32:52>> And it just But we were struggling. I32:55say that with jokes, but I think I cried32:57the most during that time. More than32:59prison, more than anything, genuinely33:01because33:03I was because again, it was this heart33:06of like, but God, you gave this to me,33:09man. When I think about it now, I get33:10secondhand embarrassment. But it's true.33:13Yeah. But what if because there was also33:15your dad kind of making poor decisions33:17that led the restaurant in a bad path.33:20Okay. So big old brain dude.33:22>> No. Okay. Fine.33:24>> No. Go go go do it. That's a good33:26question. But it's like I know people33:28are going to think like this cuz I33:29thought like that too. Go ahead.33:30>> It's it's another human. It's like33:32>> dictating those things.33:33>> Dictating those things. It's not It's33:35like if you guys stuck with it, it33:38probably would have had some success.33:39>> I don't think so. I still don't think33:41so. Um, my dad started, to that point,33:44that's true, but for full context, my33:46dad started tweaking when sales were33:48going down.33:50>> That's when it was an issue. Got it. Got33:51it. So, my dad was the type of dude, and33:53I think this is not wrong, where you33:55tweak things because your things are33:57dipping. He's he's just trying to like33:59fix it, you know? So, he would be like34:01cuz he all of his friends, Shandong34:04people, my people, they all own34:06restaurants, so they do this for a34:08living. And so, they're very trendy with34:10a lot of stuff. genuinely they know like34:12okay this is what's good this is what's34:14happening now mind you this was kind of34:16before like the big social media boom34:18obviously right like it was it was34:21cracking but it wasn't like crazy like34:22it is now so social media marketing34:26wasn't humongous it wasn't like this is34:27like years ago obviously but34:30um they were just kind of seeing34:32different things and I think at that34:34time34:34>> I don't know I think it was boiling crab34:36was like just cracking lines after lines34:41after lines and we had a homie who my34:43dad's homie who lived in Louisiana and34:46was um hu which means like Chinese born34:50in Vietnam34:52>> so the Vietnamese you know live down34:54south and then they took their flavors34:57and like fusioned everything that's what34:59boiling crab was taste of fire right and35:02so the other um homie my dad's homie he35:07knew the recipe he was so good at that35:09stuff but again right foundationally, no35:11marketing, don't know anything, don't35:14understand social media, don't35:15understand advertising, don't understand35:16anything. And the food was fire. I'm not35:21going to lie. And I'm very picky, but it35:23was really good. When I tasted, I was35:24like, "This sauce is better. It's better35:27than that." And people were literally35:29coming to the restaurant going, "You got35:31to like bottle this sauce cuz this sauce35:33is really good." And it really was. And35:35so, you know, at the end of the day35:38though, it wasn't consistent. It was35:41more of just like a little fat and a35:44trend and people like, you know, how35:45restaurants like pop-ups like people35:47line up, but then over time it just,35:50>> you know, it levels out.35:51>> It's hard to eat boiling crab every day.35:53>> Not only that, but it35:54>> throws your pH balance off.35:55>> 100% iodine and all you got gout.35:58>> Yeah.35:58>> But like uh 85°ree bakery, do you36:01remember that? Yeah,36:02>> people would lines would be especially36:05in the SGV. I was like who the a bakery36:08is crazy. It was like the Asian portals,36:10right? It was just36:11>> wrapped around and now when you go it's36:14like what? Okay, whatever. So, it's36:16weird how I guess cuz human desire too.36:19What I've learned through the Bible is36:20that it changes. Like I used to super36:23love boba and now I'm like me it's cool.36:26Like like I used to have to have boba36:28every day type like big back energy,36:30right?36:30>> Yeah. That's when you were shaped like a36:32boba. [laughter]36:33>> Minx monster build circle.36:38>> Shaped like a boba is crazy. I wasn't36:40that fat, Jerome. All right. But no, but36:43ser on a serious note and through that I36:46sat there and I'm like, "Okay, God gave36:48me this. I'm going to work. I'm going to36:50do it." And there was times where it was36:52weird, too, because I would have faith.36:55I would go to pastor and that pastor36:57would tell me and then pastor Kim would37:00chastise me and goes, "Well, I mean, you37:02started it without my guidance, so what?37:04Just go ahead and do it." And I'm like,37:06"But I'm receiving guidance now." He's37:07like, "Oh, that's so nice." Like, you're37:09just bringing me your mess. Cool.37:12>> And I was always like, "Why did he have37:13that?" And then this pastor didn't have37:15that, you know?37:16>> And at the end of it, um, that pastor37:18was like, "Yeah, listen to him, you37:19know, listen to him. He he's right,37:21too." So, I kind of went to him and then37:22the pastor was like, "Sell your37:24restaurant, Pastor Kim." I was like,37:26"What?" He's like, "Johnny,37:29just sell it. It's It's just" And I'm37:31like, "No, but I poured everything into37:33it. Like, if I sell this, I would have37:35zero dollars like to my name. We would37:37split it and then we would break even. I37:39have all this credit card debt." I had37:41bomb credit at that time, too. I had37:43like close to 800. And if I did this, I37:46had I would have debt left over from all37:48the credit cards cuz we maxed out37:49everything. 10,000 10,000 10 like that.37:53And he's like, "By faith, Johnny, God37:55will provide something better, you37:57know." And I'm like, "All right." So, we38:00rolled it up. Boom. Sold it. That was38:03one of the hardest decisions that I've38:05ever made. It tore apart my family a38:07little bit, right? Uh my dad was just38:09like38:11uh like my my brother left, my mom left,38:14right? And my dad was it was just me and38:16my dad. I remember like sitting there38:18and all of it was I didn't know38:20anything. So I started with soul prop.38:22It was all under my name. So I felt like38:24abandoned in a lot of ways. And38:26[clears throat] through that yeah during38:28those times I cried a lot. I was like38:30dang I can't believe like man why why38:33like why can't people help me? started38:35getting mad at my family, isolated a38:37little bit. But through all of this,38:39what I learned was you are chasing38:42signs. You were chasing even that. And38:45and then I got really mad at church38:47because I'm like, "No, I was listening38:48to the pastor." But there is a time38:50where you have to sit and really look in38:53the mirror and truly self-reflect and38:55go, "But you wanted that, Johnny."38:58Right? Pastor Kim didn't tell me that. I39:00I had to sit and kind of be like, "Okay,39:04I'm done getting mad and being a little39:06kid. Let's let's like let's really39:09reflect a little bit." And I thought39:10about it from the beginning all the way39:12from me. I wrote it down. Why did I do39:15this? It was all cuz my heart wanted39:17that. And I think even that lesson was39:20you can even make things like turn God's39:24no into a yes or even a maybe. You can39:26do that cuz you're so good at tricking39:28yourself. You can. and and you can see39:30signs and you can see things where like39:33you don't it's not even God doing it but39:35you're like that's God and I think that39:38is so necessary for today because now I39:41can see it like a hawk right when people39:44pull up with that I'm like oh my gosh39:46you're doing exactly what I did you're39:48saying but God gave me this and go and39:51what I do during that moment is I stay39:53quiet because people have to go through39:55that to be able to see this isn't really39:58from God cuz if you tell tell them this40:00isn't from God. They would just fight40:01it. I remember I would fight it to the40:03no. No, but it is because look, why40:05would the money hit the account? Why40:06would this random person do this? Why40:07would And I would just boom. And pastor40:09would just look at me like,40:11>> okay,40:12>> hey man, you know where I'm going, man.40:15>> Yeah. 1 million.40:16>> Hey, man. I know.40:17>> The whole business thing throughout it,40:19was there ever a point where you're40:20like,40:20>> I just quit this thing?40:22>> I did.40:23>> And you didn't. You let me go through40:24it. You bad friend.40:25>> I love you. That's why.40:26>> No, you don't.40:27>> Yes, I do. You made me It went way40:30longer than it should have.40:31>> No, no, no, no, no, [laughter] no.40:33That's not true. No. That with your40:35thing though, genuinely, I think it was40:37just It was what you said about me,40:39about my dad, your thing. Back to the41:31episode.41:32>> What do you say to the person that's41:34like willed their way to success, right?41:36Like they go, "Okay, like, you know,41:38you've said it before, whether God uh41:40>> whether or not, what's the saying?41:43Whether or not God will work,41:44>> it's not if or it's whether, right? It's41:46whether it's not if or this. is God is41:48going to work.41:49>> God will work, right? Um so what do you41:52say to the person that's like, "Okay,41:53great. Then I will do my best." And41:56they've will they've willed their way to41:59success without depending on God.42:01>> Yeah.42:01>> And they've reached success, let's say.42:04>> What What do you say to that person?42:05It's like42:06>> you can will your way to success. I42:08mean, God is going to give you grace. in42:10some people. I mean, if you put in the42:11work, it's it's there are things that42:15you're going to receive physically,42:17financially, but what we care about is42:19spiritual things, right? So, c if you42:23grind 24/7, if you go to the gym every42:26single day, you hit your macronutrients,42:29you get a personal trainer, can you get42:31in get, you know, in shape and fit 100%.42:36You can even credit that to God. Well,42:37God gave me breath in my lungs. Of42:39course, that's very true. But that has42:41nothing to do with your spirituality,42:43though. Being aligned with God is42:46different than, you know, doing what you42:48want and willing your your will42:51essentially, right? God's will and your42:53will are two different things. Can42:55people receive success through their own42:56will? Of course.42:58>> How many people have done that in this43:00world who don't have God? Who literally43:02are like, I don't need God. I don't need43:04Christianity. And that's facts. They43:07don't. They're being real. They don't43:09need Christianity. But at the same time,43:13are you sure about your spirit? Now,43:15they even misconstrue that too. Well,43:18spiritual is a feeling. Spirit is not a43:20feeling, right? Spirit is 100% spirit43:24and soul. It's not it's an entity. It's43:26not like I feel anything. That's flesh.43:30Because even lust, people say lust is a43:32spiritual battle. I would say I would I43:35would argue no. If you go to the43:37cemetery, is anybody who's dead43:39struggling with lust,43:41>> right? Like it's it's yes, it can affect43:44the spiritual 100%. Right? But at the43:47same time, it's not in itself a43:49spiritual thing. That's why God says we43:51don't struggle with flesh. We struggle43:53with principalities, principles, right?43:55And powers in high places, meaning43:57things that we cannot see. And so, can44:00you will yourself to success? 100%. But44:04how many people do we know that are44:05successful like s their bank account is44:08full financially but they're bankrupt44:11spiritually? So many people are like44:14that. I mentor a lot of people who are44:16su seriously millionaires and extremely44:20suicidal like attempt once a week type44:24of thing. And I'm just like whoa you got44:27all this money the this guy know he has44:3017 bitcoin. I'm like, "Dang, that's a44:33lot." Right. And is that a lot?44:36>> Yeah.44:36>> A few million.44:38>> Yeah. [laughter]44:39>> 1.7 million.44:40>> If it's Well, no, it's dropped a little44:42bit in [laughter]44:44>> like 1.2 million. 17 bitcoin.44:46>> He's got good money and that money will44:48grow. Yeah.44:49>> That's all I'm saying. He don't44:50necessarily need to work.44:52>> And he's just he's got hella money. I44:54forget how much he has liquid. It's like44:55a ridiculous amount though. and44:59he's sitting there and he's depressed.45:02He's on oxy.45:04Um, and it's it's sad, but he spent 645:08months with me, once a week, every week45:11for 6 months and was like, "Dude, I45:14understand now. It doesn't matter how45:16much money you have." He's like, "I45:18can't even enjoy it." He said something45:19crazy. He said, "I I thought I made it45:22when I was making $40,000 a month. I was45:25making a lot of money. 40,000 a month.45:27Then I hit 100K a month and I was like,45:29"Whoa, that's a lot." And he goes, "But45:33during that time there was a plateau."45:35He talked about plateauing. Like I just45:38kind of hit 100K, but my lifestyle and45:40my desire kept going like this, but my45:42money was staying like this. So the45:45Lambos and the Urus and all that. Sure,45:47there's money, but it's like it keeps45:49going up. And so right there, he felt45:52like he was broke. I'm like, "Well,45:54you're making 100K a month. Doubt the45:56hell do you? But he outspent what he was45:58making, right? And he was confident in46:01his Bitcoin and his stocks and whatever46:03he was talking about, right? [snorts]46:06But at the end of the day, he realized46:08he had no self-control.46:10Genuinely no self-control. He had money.46:12He received grace to do so. He was46:14disciplined in certain things,46:16absolutely. But he had this idea which I46:20thought was very rare. Usually when you46:22see people have hella money, they have46:24discipline. they can will themselves.46:26They can do these types of things. But46:28there is a point where I guess things do46:31flip. And I I believe it was God where46:33he's he's putting his hand on something.46:35It should be making money and he he's46:37not making money anymore, right? Cuz46:39these are just how it is, right? The46:41market is like this. You have to have46:43this type of you had to make these46:44calculated guess, whatever. He got46:45scammed a little bit. Whatever it was,46:47things started almost like dominoes. And46:49I see this with a lot of people who are46:50successful. God goes, I think it's time.46:53And he starts toppling things in your46:55life where you started off really good.46:58You anything you do it was just amazing47:00and now it's like not so much. Not so47:02much. Not so much. The way Pastor Kim47:05explained it was like people who play47:06basketball or play a sport. It's a young47:09man's game. So you start off everyone's47:12like amazing. You're, you know, 20 years47:14old, 18 years old. You could run seven47:17hours of basketball all day. And then47:19you play pickle ball and you roll your47:21ankle and you're like, "What the hell,47:24man?" And it take like 6 months to fix47:26your ankle, right? I'm talking about47:29Aaron here 2.0 cuz bro is bro's a47:32hooper, but he rolled his ankle, right?47:35[laughter]47:36>> We're back, right? Finally.47:37>> I beat him in the comeback game of the47:39year.47:41>> But genuinely like pastor was like put47:43it in perspective and said, "Johnny,47:44this is how life is where you're great.47:48Great. You're going to have your highs47:49and low, your 15 minutes of fame,47:50whatever. Everyone has that. But when47:53push comes to shove and things start to47:54really level out and life becomes life47:56for real, not just a journey anymore,47:59but genuinely life life bills and all48:02that, then things change. And that's48:05what happens even in spiritual life48:07where God goes, "You need to mature48:09now." Whoop! And just takes things and48:12you're like, "What? No, no, my Pokemon48:15cards." [laughter]48:17Right? And so, how does pastor know48:20this? It's because the Bible speaks48:21about this. Ecclesiastes 3 speaks about48:24this where he quoted that scripture.48:26There's a time to live. There's a time48:27to die. There's a time to grow. There's48:29a time to stop. There's a time. There's48:30all these things where it's like, "Wow,48:32there is a time for everything. There's48:33a season, as they say, for everything."48:36Um, I think people overspiritualize48:38seasons as well. I'm in a tough season.48:40I'm in a It's like a buzz word now. I'm48:42in a tough season. My tire popped. It's48:44like, no, you're not in a tough season.48:46Like it's just48:47>> or God God let God go God told me it was48:50time to transition.48:51>> God released me from that position.48:52[clears throat]48:52>> Yes. It's like no you got fired.48:53[laughter]48:56>> That's hell of funny.48:57>> Not going to lie. We'd be interviewing48:58some people.49:00>> I'm just like yo just tell me what it49:01is.49:02>> There's a two-year gap in your resume.49:03Like what were you doing? It's like God49:05showed me another path. [laughter]49:06>> Yeah. Yeah.49:07>> Oh, okay.49:09>> God showed me Call of Duty.49:11>> Yeah.49:12>> Pizza. [laughter] Calabunga dude. He49:14wanted me to move in a different49:16direction.49:16>> Yeah,49:17>> that's so facts though.49:18>> I wish people would just tell the truth.49:20>> Facts though. But um yeah, I was able to49:23to learn from pastor a lot of things and49:26we we always tend to turn Yeah. The one49:29thing I think I've I tried in my life a49:31lot was not just turn God's answer. I49:33was so manipulative in so many ways49:35where I try to turn every no to a yes.49:40And I did it with spiritual life and I49:43had to go through those things. I49:46realized I needed to go through that49:49because now I see it rampant and I'm49:52like damn that's Johnny Chang, that's49:55Johnny Jang. That's like BC Johnny, BC49:57Johnny. VC Johnny like49:58>> and it really helps me.50:00>> I said don't point at me.50:01>> BC [laughter] Jeremy.50:03>> You can point at everybody but me.50:05>> No, I was going like this.50:06>> Okay, good.50:07>> It's this guy, dude. This guy, man.50:09Always, dude. Guys, Jesus,50:11>> this guy always trying to point at me.50:13[laughter]50:14>> Like when people whisper under their50:15breath, this guy, man, freaking this50:16guy, man. So much better than everyone.50:19Oh, I went through it and now I can see50:20everybody going through it.50:22>> Yo, Jeremy.50:22>> Yeah.50:23>> You came back from Korea?50:26>> Yeah. Yeah.50:27>> Don't you want to tell us a little bit?50:28>> Maybe later at the end.50:32It was pretty cool at the end. Sorry.50:33Sorry.50:33>> But I guess I guess all of that my my50:36last question is50:39What would you How would you tell50:42how would you how do you accept the50:44answer? [laughter]50:46How could I How am I supposed to try at50:48this podcast if he's rolling his eyes?50:50Why [laughter] don't you ask a question?50:52You know what? You know what? I'm done.50:54You ask a question.50:55>> I'm just laughing like why why what made50:56you start laughing in the middle of50:58[laughter]50:58>> Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's you going51:01>> No, no, you started. No, you51:03>> Yeah, before he did that, you laughed51:05out of that. That was your51:07>> Well, I was I was like laughing cuz I51:08was stumbling and then I caught him in51:10the side of my eye going going like51:11[laughter] this. He went [snorts]51:13[gasps]51:16>> You ask a question.51:18>> What were you going to say? [laughter]51:21>> No, I said how do you what is the how51:24would you tell somebody51:27what's the best way to accept the answer51:29that you got from God? [laughter]51:31Is that the best way to say it? How51:33would you say that question? How do you51:35learn? How do you accept the answer from51:36God?51:37>> How do you accept whatever answer God51:39gives you?51:40>> Yeah. How do you learn to accept the51:42answer that God gave you?51:46[laughter]51:49>> No, it's your face.51:50>> Well, cuz I'm like, is that am I saying51:53the question right?51:53>> We're all literally dead fish to go.51:55Like,51:56>> is that Did I [laughter]51:59Does that question make sense?52:03Did I do52:06>> I have another question? Okay, no one52:08likes that one. No one seems to try52:10another one.52:11>> No one seems to like that question. Even52:13by the way, this is the question you52:14wrote. So [laughter]52:16I don't know.52:19>> How to accept whatever answer God gives52:21you.52:21>> Yeah. How do you52:23>> You couldn't read that.52:24>> I said I [laughter] didn't Isn't that52:25what I did?52:26>> Bro, you getting mad at me and my52:27scripts in my ads.52:30I said, [laughter]52:31>> "Okay, I want to say this, right? Let's52:33say that you52:36>> let's say the pastor gives you the52:38answer of like God will work." I'm going52:40to use the relationship example because52:42people like that one.52:43>> Yeah.52:44>> Let's say the pastor doesn't give you52:46clear direction. He says, "Hey,52:48whichever direction you choose, God will52:49work." Yeah.52:50>> And you meet somebody and they go to52:52church and it seems like pretty52:54spiritually aligned or whatever it is.52:57And then the relationship is going well53:00to a certain point where it's not. And53:02now it's a no, but you or or to you it53:05feels like a no, but53:08you're now Christian where it's like,53:09hey, try whatever it is, you know, and53:11now it starts to get a little bit muddy53:13there.53:14>> Sure.53:15>> The pastor didn't really tell you to53:17move forward. You kind of53:18>> chose to move forward.53:21>> Yeah.53:21>> At that point, you just go to the pastor53:22and53:23>> Yeah. still seek the guidance, right?53:25Because what we have to air on is like53:28the side of caution of dang53:31what I might try to like53:33overspiritualize everything too.53:35>> Yeah.53:36>> That's the one thing that a lot of53:37people do. Well, it started with God and53:40it's almost like we chase that first53:42high, right? When people get addicted53:44because they're [clears throat] trying53:46to like replicate what they felt in the53:49beginning53:50>> of being led by God. Their life is being53:52led by God.53:53>> Yes. And so that's their and they think53:55that's their first love, which of course53:57God could have let it, but if your heart53:59changes, and there's numerous people54:01like this in the Bible. King Saul is a54:03big example, was anointed by God, had54:06the horn of oil poured on him, and yet54:09God sent the evil spirit to torment him54:12and lifted the the, you know, the Holy54:14Spirit off of him because he was all54:17about himself. We've had that happen in54:20even in core of the heart where we help54:21people and they're super loving and I'm54:24like yeah go preach the gospel and this54:26person is like54:29why are you telling me now not to preach54:30the gospel because you're now utilizing54:32the gospel to show other people look at54:34how great I am. I'm smart. You don't54:35know anything. I'm your daddy energy. Of54:38course it's going to switch. Right? So54:41seeking guidance is not you told me that54:44before. You can't change it even if I54:46change. It's like, "No, I told you54:49that." But receiving guidance is54:51throwing away the first guidance and54:52keep on receiving guidance. What? I'm54:54just I only get to guide you once. Like,54:56it doesn't make sense. You messed up.54:58Let's redirect and realign. No, I'm not55:00realigning. You said that. And it's This55:02is like the wrong heart to have.55:04>> Go back to pastor. Go [clears throat]55:05back to your community. And yeah, if you55:07don't have a community, you can always55:10go to God. It it's it's not some of us55:14don't know how to go to God, but you55:15have to have faith that when you go to55:17God, there isn't a right or wrong way.55:20You just have to be honest. People try55:22to go to God in a righteous way. No, you55:25have to go to God honestly. Even if55:27it's, "Hey God, I don't know. I saw this55:30podcast. I don't have a community.55:32There's a couple things in my life that55:33I'm struggling with. I don't really55:35know. Is this going to you?" That's55:36better than father god, holy god, king55:39of kings, lord of lords. Like it's55:41better than this performative type of55:44coming to God and showing look at me.55:46I'm so obedient to you. No, if you're55:48not obedient, be like, I'm not obedient.55:50If you don't know what to pray for, hey55:51Lord, I don't know what I'm what to pray55:53for. The other day, I blanked mid55:56prayer. That [clears throat] happens.55:57I'm like, Father God, please help me.55:59Please protect my family. Please prayed56:01for Jeremy. Please protect Jeremy from56:03his flight. But and then I blanked out.56:06Wow. He's He's getting to your part. He56:08blanked out. How do you feel?56:10>> No, I didn't. I prayed for him before56:11you.56:12>> Anyway,56:13>> you blanked him out.56:14>> Yeah.56:15>> He prays for you every night.56:18>> Please fix Jeremy. Please.56:20>> Yeah. Facts. I'm like, please. It's56:22okay. It's okay that he's the way he is.56:24>> Putting in overtime on prayers for you.56:26>> Yeah. Facts, though.56:28>> Me, let's not get started on you.56:30[laughter]56:33You know, I'm growing. Okay. You need to56:36move by faith, not by sight.56:38>> Hey, let's ask Johnny, who needs more56:40prayer in your [laughter] eyes? Let's56:42just look.56:44>> No speaking English.56:46>> No, but legit. I blanked out. And I'm56:49like, okay.56:51I literally sat there and said, "God,56:53why do I blank out? I don't understand.56:56I'm sitting here. I'm having an intimate56:57conversation with you. I blanked. Do you57:00want me to restart my prayer? I don't57:02think so. Well, thank you, God. I hope57:04that you can help me not blank out on my57:07prayer. And I'm thankful also that you57:09sent Romans 8:26, which is Holy Spirit57:11prays for me. In Jesus name I pray.57:13Amen. That's it. Versus like some57:16people, oh my gosh, man. They'll57:19[clears throat] come to me, bro, I was57:21praying, man, and all of a sudden I get57:24a pornographic image. Oh, is there57:27something wrong with me? Like, yeah,57:29bro, stop gooning. [laughter]57:31Okay, you horn dog. No, I'm just57:33kidding. But I sat there and I would57:35tell people, hey, it's okay. It's okay.57:38Just be honest with God. Hey, Lord,57:39look, it wasn't me wanting to have this57:41thought. It just popped up. Lord, please57:43help me rebuke that. If it's from me,57:46please help me also grow from that.57:48Like, it's okay to go to God and do57:51that. How many times, man, there's so57:53many times I went to God and I'm angry57:55at him. I don't like your answer. I get57:58it, God. you led this pastor to me, but58:00he's being super harsh. I don't58:02understand why. In Jesus name, I pray.58:04Amen. Right? Like, that's the prayer.58:06It's like, why can't you complain to58:08God? Why can't you sit there and go,58:10"Hey, Lord, this is how I truly feel."58:11If you really feel like that, I I really58:14believe God wants an honest prayer more58:16than a prayer of uh I got to show how58:20great I am even though I don't am not58:23thankful, don't have faith, feel burnt58:26out, but I got to show God that I'm not58:29like that cuz I'm his child and I love58:31him. Like nobody wants that.58:33[clears throat] Think about a child and58:34a parent. If you guys have a kid and58:37you're the father of this the the58:38mother, you wouldn't want the kid to58:40just be goody two shoes if they're not58:42feeling like that. You would want them58:44to express themselves. You would want58:45them to go, "Hey, I'm depressed." But58:47they don't. But imagine they act all58:49uppidity when they're near you. You58:51would actually get mad at them. Hey, if58:53you're feeling something, why didn't you58:54share that with me? Why are you doing58:56that? I think God would have the same58:57type of heart posture, too.59:00Nobody told me that faith would be this59:02lonely. I thought when I gave my life to59:03God, everything would just click.59:05Community, peace, direction. A lot of us59:07are out here just trying to figure it59:09out alone. Your family thinks it's a59:11phase. You go to church on Sunday,59:12you're smiling. And then on Monday,59:14reality hits and you're back alone in59:16your home in your thoughts. I know59:18exactly what that's like. I got out of59:20prison at the age of 25. I didn't have a59:22church home. I didn't have friends. I59:24didn't even really have family to back59:25me up. I had God. I had a Bible. But59:27more importantly than anything, I had a59:30pastor who I could lean on to ask59:31questions and to just receive mentorship59:33and have fellowship with. And the thing59:35that changed everything for me wasn't59:36just studying alone. It was actually59:38having someone I could bring my real59:40questions to. Not the Sunday school59:41questions, the real ones, the ones that59:44keep you up at night. The ones that make59:45you feel unworthy because you can't59:47figure it out on your own. Therefore,59:49you feel as if you're less of a59:50Christian. That's why every single59:52Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Standard59:53Time, I go live inside the Core of the59:55Heart daily app. First, we do a full59:57Bible class. Real teaching, not that59:59surface level stuff. We go super deep.1:00:01You were never supposed to do this1:00:02alone. And now you don't have to. Bible1:00:04class every Saturday at 10:00 a.m.1:00:06Pacific Standard Time. Can't wait to see1:00:07you guys there. How do you get better at1:00:09accepting No. Because for example, this1:00:13podcast, we just want it to grow, right?1:00:16>> Mhm.1:00:17>> It could. But it goes like this, right?1:00:19And when it goes down, what I feel like1:00:21is, oh, it's not working. But then I go1:00:23to the live event and I read the1:00:24comments and people are like, "Ah, I1:00:26listen to this every week and it helps1:00:27me so much." But I'm like, "Then why is1:00:29the viewership going down?"1:00:30>> The algorithm technically should be1:00:32serving this to more people if they're1:00:33watching it all the way to the end and1:00:35they're saying that they watch it every1:00:36single week.1:00:37>> Yeah.1:00:38>> But then my other So then my brain goes,1:00:40"Well, now we got to1:00:43look at the analytics, figure out what1:00:45was making people watch, work on our1:00:46content matter,1:00:48>> whatever. improve the the show to make1:00:50it more engaging for these Coco Melon1:00:52kids out there. [laughter]1:00:54>> Maybe more lights.1:00:55>> Maybe I'm holding subway surf time.1:00:58Yeah.1:00:59>> Yeah. Yeah. That's hilarious.1:01:01>> And we can pump flavored air through the1:01:03speakers so they can [laughter]1:01:06>> So, but that's my thought. I'm like,1:01:08well, if I was kind of playing this1:01:11character, it'd be like, well, does God1:01:12want this to keep going?1:01:14>> It's not necessarily1:01:16>> on God, though. It's like maybe we can1:01:18improve the subject matter. Maybe1:01:20there's things we can do to make this1:01:22more entertaining.1:01:23>> Yeah.1:01:23>> Um or maybe if uh Yeah. So like what do1:01:27you what do you1:01:28>> what do you do in those situations?1:01:30>> What do you do in those situ How do you1:01:31how do you know what to do in those1:01:33situations?1:01:34>> I mean you don't and then I think God is1:01:36good at that where he doesn't show you1:01:38what to do but when you're doing the1:01:41certain things that you're doing he'll1:01:43either edify it or he'll make us switch.1:01:45Right. Cuz we pivot a lot. Yeah,1:01:47>> obviously in in our business and in our1:01:49ministry because it's important, right?1:01:51When we first started even like after1:01:53service, what was after service, Aaron?1:01:55Aaron came up with the idea, right? It1:01:57was literally Go ahead.1:02:00>> Give the blood of your firstborn. You1:02:01said something crazy. [laughter]1:02:02>> That's what it originally was. We were1:02:04going to sacrifice a goat on the1:02:06mountain.1:02:07>> On the mountain?1:02:07>> No, it was just supposed to be like a1:02:09small community event. Yeah.1:02:10>> I didn't think thousands and thousands1:02:12of people would come in every city. That1:02:13means he didn't think that you could1:02:14pull thousands of people in the city.1:02:16That's how I uh1:02:18>> Is that true, Aaron?1:02:19>> I didn't know what the event was going1:02:20to be yet.1:02:21>> It was really how it was supposed to be.1:02:22It's supposed to be every weekend. Every1:02:24weekend supposed to be in every city1:02:25after service after church. Right.1:02:28>> It was like a Think of Run Club but1:02:31spiritual and not all the lust.1:02:34>> Exactly.1:02:36>> You dang people.1:02:37>> No, I'm just kidding.1:02:37>> Well, I never said the last part, but1:02:39I'm just kidding. [laughter]1:02:41But yeah, so from that we had to pivot.1:02:43We had to go, okay, we our first live1:02:46event was a paid event, too. We're like,1:02:48uh, no, let's do the premium. So, we're1:02:50always moving, but could I say I knew1:02:53God would turn this and what if God1:02:55would do that? No. I I I genuinely1:02:58consulted with you guys. I believe that1:02:59you guys were sent from God to help. And1:03:02I sat there and said, "Let's run it."1:03:04And God was like, "Good, yes, no, wait."1:03:08He's answered in every way. One thing is1:03:11God will always answer. When people go,1:03:13I have unanswered prayers. He's always1:03:16answered. It's just you don't think or1:03:17you don't like or you don't know the1:03:19answer. That's what it is at the end of1:03:21the day. So, I think it comes down to to1:03:24answer your question, we move forward by1:03:26faith and wherever the cards are going1:03:29to lay, they're going to lay. Now, I1:03:31used to think like that where I go,1:03:33"Okay, that makes sense spiritually, but1:03:36then where's the motivation?" Cuz I1:03:39could just go and be like, "Oh, I'll1:03:40just do this and God will help and he1:03:42won't." Well, the motivation is in1:03:44Christ. You have to have a trajectory at1:03:46the end of the day. For us, regardless1:03:48of what it is, we're always trying to1:03:49help people. And I think God will honor1:03:52that. He will honor that. Like, we1:03:54created this app. We didn't have to1:03:56create this app. Of course, the app1:03:57helps us, too. But a vast majority of1:04:00it, it's like to help you guys. So, we1:04:02just finished the streamathon and1:04:05literally it was for what? We woke up1:04:08every morning to keep you guys1:04:09consistent. And I see the comments. I1:04:11see how grateful you guys are. I see you1:04:13guys sitting there building community1:04:15even in within our community of going,1:04:18"Wow, guys, who's here for day one?1:04:20Who's been what's your favorite?" You1:04:21guys are asking these questions to each1:04:23other. Father God, we lift Johnny in1:04:24Lord's name and the Holy Spirit to have1:04:26anointing to watch over him. You guys1:04:28are praying for each other. It's such a1:04:29beautiful thing. But did I know that was1:04:32going to happen? No. I could I have1:04:35calculated it a little bit? Sure. But1:04:37let's say it didn't happen that way.1:04:38Let's say it was a complete flop. Okay,1:04:40then we pick up our pants and we move1:04:42forward. Okay, that didn't work out. We1:04:44tried it. Okay, God, that was a no. And1:04:46let's say God doesn't need my agreement1:04:48to work. So even if he was like, I was1:04:50working and I'm like, no, he's not going1:04:52to be like, I'm not going to work1:04:53anymore then cuz you didn't agree with1:04:54me. He's going to move forward and do1:04:56what he has to do. And so our job, what1:04:59people don't realize as as simple as1:05:01this is is just to live because God says1:05:04we are a masterpiece in him. And he who1:05:06started the good works will finish the1:05:08good work. So he's the one who just1:05:10wants to give us rest. And there is this1:05:12level the unlock is here where it's a1:05:15spiritual1:05:17liberty.1:05:18Best way to explain it a spiritual1:05:20liberty where you sit there and you go1:05:23no matter of what no matter what I do1:05:25and what I even don't do all the cards1:05:28are already kind of dealt and there's1:05:31like a freedom to walk with it and you1:05:33just kind of experience it. I think of1:05:35Moses when he's 80 years old slow in1:05:38tongue right and very just lacking.1:05:42Did God need to use him or was there1:05:44better people at that time? There wasn't1:05:46one person better than Moses. young,1:05:48strong, can go to the articulate. No,1:05:50but he chose that person, Moses. And he1:05:52goes, basically what he's saying is I1:05:54don't need you to be I could use you1:05:56however it is. Just watch me work like1:05:58hold my beer type of energy, right? Like1:06:01just just here, you hold it. Let me1:06:03watch what I'm going to do. And1:06:04literally Moses went on with the1:06:06journey. King David was the same. Very1:06:08weak sheep boy lacking. God works right.1:06:11In in my life too, in Pastor Kim's life,1:06:13in Pastor Daniel, Pastor Han, Pastor1:06:15John, we are all very weak and we just1:06:19all we did was just focus on the gospel1:06:21and go, "God's going to work." So many1:06:23people would come to us and argue, "No,1:06:25how is God going to work? Do we need to1:06:26know how? So what? Do we just do this?1:06:28Do we do that?" We hear that. That is1:06:30like probably the biggest complaint or1:06:32the biggest, you know, thing that we1:06:34hear in the Bible in in the church is,1:06:37"So what? We don't do anything. So what?1:06:38We don't do anything. So what? We don't1:06:40do anything. So what? We don't do1:06:41anything. Sound familiar? Mit Jerome.1:06:45>> Yes, we all know him.1:06:47>> But through that, right, Jeremy, you1:06:49too. When you look at how God has1:06:51worked, there's it's undeniable.1:06:54>> Like, yes, we put cards there and we1:06:56hedge our bets in a lot of ways. 100%.1:06:59We made decisions and had to pivot and1:07:01times where we fight and all of us like,1:07:03"No, but I know I'm right. I'll die on1:07:04this hill. I don't." Even that is all1:07:06God ordained because God could give you1:07:08the heart to back down. the brother, you1:07:10know, this person to back down, me to1:07:12back, whoever it is. At the end of the1:07:14day, God moves forward regardless. And1:07:16he makes like I guess he makes something1:07:21out of our mess. Like he can polish1:07:23anything. It's pretty amazing. And I see1:07:26that every single day. Did I ever think1:07:29when I went to go preach the gospel in1:07:32prison that it would turn into a 38 371:07:36people company, you know, person company1:07:38with the best marketers, closest people1:07:41to me now as friends, family type of1:07:43energy.1:07:45Never. I I just was like crying,1:07:48kicking, and screaming. I don't want to1:07:49go to prison. Why? It's easy because you1:07:51don't have to go to prison, Pastor Kim.1:07:53You don't even speak English. Yeah. Like1:07:54I would complain. And he's like, "You1:07:58just don't know." And and I'm like, "You1:08:00do you know?" He's like, "I don't even1:08:02know. I'm just telling you to go." And1:08:04sure enough, look at what it came out to1:08:06beautifully. Was he sitting there going,1:08:08"Yeah, in 10 years, Johnny's going to1:08:10have this and he's going to do this.1:08:11He's going to donate this much and hell1:08:13no." It was just I know what the Bible1:08:16says. Seek ye the first the kingdom of1:08:17God and his righteousness, and all else1:08:19will be added unto you. Focus on the1:08:21gospel. Move forward. Everything is1:08:23gospel centered. The gospel bot, core of1:08:25the heart, gospel- centered. This1:08:27podcast, gospel- centered. Everything1:08:29gospel- centered, right? Of course,1:08:31there's people who, you know, object and1:08:33there's people who want to run the1:08:35company a certain way. Sure, but all of1:08:37it God still uses. And it's just living1:08:40proof. We see it all the time. It's1:08:42almost like you have to be blind. Like a1:08:44blind person can see how much God is1:08:46working in my life, in the company, on1:08:50the podcast. We I see sometimes you guys1:08:53just come up to me and be like I love1:08:55the Unrun Wisdom podcast and it's a p1:08:57it's some episodes where I'm like ah it1:08:59didn't really perform well be like 61:09:02months ago or whatever and they'll be1:09:03like bro when you said that and I'm like1:09:06the the meticulous the detail of like1:09:08what the lesson was for them already I1:09:11forgot and they're like that's the thing1:09:12that's been carrying me till now and I'm1:09:14like1:09:15>> what like did you watch the intrusive1:09:18thoughts episode did you watch1:09:20overcoming me, you know, like you're1:09:23talking about that one that got till1:09:24this day maybe like 50,000 views like1:09:27six months, you know, like what and1:09:29[clears throat] that's the thing. That's1:09:31the thing. Kane and Abel, I'm like, bro,1:09:33Kane and Abel is cool, but there's Have1:09:34you seen other stories? No, that's the1:09:37one, Johnny. Job. Oh, I'm like, Job is1:09:39overplayed. Like, it's every it's1:09:42overhyped. Everybody knows the story of1:09:43Job. That's the one though. Like, bro, I1:09:46can't. And I'm just like, wow. It really1:09:49is just Oh god. It's okay, little airy.1:09:54>> Um, did you just touch me with your1:09:56feet?1:09:56>> Yeah, my socks.1:09:57>> What did we tell you about that?1:09:59>> What do we tell you about [laughter]1:10:00that? It's great.1:10:01>> Well, we were having fun.1:10:02>> Way down.1:10:04>> I don't want to. Did you just do it1:10:06again?1:10:06>> Yes. I1:10:08>> Hold them. Hold them. Oh. Oh, no. Oh,1:10:11daddy. No.1:10:13>> Okay, we got some questions here.1:10:14>> My buns.1:10:16>> Oh, sorry. Keep that in. [laughter]1:10:18>> Keep in1:10:19>> Keep it in. Keep it in. Please. Please.1:10:20>> Oh, please.1:10:21>> All right. We got three questions here.1:10:22We have four questions here, but we can1:10:24do one or two of them. Or three. Or1:10:25four.1:10:26>> Let's do four.1:10:26>> We can see how much fun we're having.1:10:29>> But here's the questions.1:10:30>> I'll answer each one first.1:10:32>> Okay. And they're not for everyone.1:10:33They're for Johnny. [clears throat]1:10:34These questions are for Johnny1:10:36>> and Johnny only.1:10:39Um, okay.1:10:42This guy can't read. [laughter]1:10:46Jeremy, stop. You did that to me last1:10:48time and I got mad. [laughter]1:10:49>> Oh, really? No, I didn't. Remember you1:10:51were like,1:10:52>> "This guy can't read." I'm like reading1:10:55with my finger. [laughter]1:10:57What?1:10:57>> Um, what does trusting God with your1:10:59life actually mean?1:11:01>> So, what trusting God with your life1:11:04actually means is regardless of the1:11:07situation, regardless of how you think1:11:09and feel, it's, "Hey, Lord, your will,1:11:13not mine." So it's trusting his word and1:11:16what he says and what the servants who1:11:17know his word says over your life1:11:21and regardless of what you think, feel,1:11:24experience, your perspective, all that1:11:26gets kind of tossed out. So truly1:11:28trusting God with your life, that's1:11:30[clears throat] one side of it. The1:11:32second side of it, second part of it is1:11:35you trust that he gave his life for your1:11:38life. Your life is done. You're1:11:41crucified and you've been resurrected as1:11:44the image of Christ. Right? It's not, it1:11:47says in Galatians 2:20,1:11:50it is not I who liveth, but Christ that1:11:53liveth in me. So now when you move, you1:11:57move as if you're you have Jesus in you.1:11:59It's not Johnny Chang no more. It's not1:12:01you. It's not it's all about God. Yes.1:12:05Can any human on earth 100% trust God?1:12:08Or we just try our best to and that's1:12:10what it is, right? You try our best1:12:12knowing that you're going to sin, you're1:12:13going to make mistakes, but you're1:12:15righteous and perfected. Yeah. I think1:12:17there is 100% that you trust God, not1:12:23100% of the time. So what I mean by that1:12:26is when you say 100%. People think 100%1:12:30subjectively. Oh, I don't struggle. I1:12:32don't lust. I don't sin. You could be1:12:34struggling and still trusting in God.1:12:36Like King David did that, Jeremiah did1:12:38that. So many people. So trusting in God1:12:41is not 100%1:12:44I'm always surrendering to everything1:12:46and feeling this peace 100%. That's1:12:49still tied to feelings. Trusting God is1:12:52I can be angry, something pissed me off,1:12:54but when the word or the Bible comes or1:12:56the servant comes, I throw that away and1:12:59I accept and acknowledge. Can people do1:13:01that 100% of the time? Yes, I've seen1:13:03people where they're pissed or they're1:13:06angry, they're sad, whatever, but as1:13:08soon as the word enters, they trust it.1:13:10That's what God wants because there1:13:11isn't anyone who's perfect and perfectly1:13:14peaceful all the time, right? And happy1:13:17all the time. No, there's times where we1:13:19go up and down situations that are dire1:13:22and seasons and whatever. However, a1:13:25person who trusts God a 100% of the time1:13:28is every time God speaks into the1:13:30situation, steps into the pain, do they1:13:33choose him or they do do they choose1:13:35themselves? Can you do that 100% of the1:13:37time and every time he steps into the1:13:39pain? Absolutely. Absolutely. I've seen1:13:41pastors do it. I've done it. There's a1:13:43way where you're like, you trust the1:13:45situation for a little bit, but as soon1:13:47as God comes and the word comes because1:13:48either you forgot or the situation1:13:50overwhelmed you, you trust back. That's1:13:53how you're supposed to be. That's what1:13:54trusting God 100% of the time is. We're1:13:56hiring, guys. Core of the Heart is1:13:58hiring. But listen carefully. We're not1:14:00just building a company. We're building1:14:02one of the fastest growing Christian1:14:03communities in the world. In just a year1:14:05and a half, this community has grown to1:14:07over 3 million strong. And we're nowhere1:14:09near done.1:14:09>> Our mission is simple but massive. To1:14:11build the best tools and resources to1:14:13help anyone in the world get closer to1:14:15God.1:14:15>> Our first immediate goal is to get a 1001:14:17million people into heaven. So when we1:14:19say we're hiring, understand this. We're1:14:21not looking for employees. We're looking1:14:23for missiondriven A players that want to1:14:25change the world.1:14:25>> Our criteria is simple. Don't show us1:14:27what you could do. Show us what you've1:14:29already mastered. Like, if you want to1:14:30be the short form editor, show me the1:14:32millions of views you've gotten on Short1:14:33Form. If you want to be the podcast1:14:34producer, show me the shows that you've1:14:36successfully produced. We've learned the1:14:38hard way not to hire off potential. We1:14:40just want to hire off of peer1:14:41experience. People who have already1:14:42proven that they can perform at their1:14:44skill set at the highest level. We have1:14:46jobs available in many different1:14:47departments, media and content, live1:14:49events, and marketing. We also have1:14:51remote jobs and LA based jobs available.1:14:54If you're an A player that has mastered1:14:55their craft and wants to do something1:14:56that glorifies God, then please head to1:14:58the link in our description and check1:15:00out the job board. And lastly, if you're1:15:02an absolute beast at something and you1:15:04don't see it on the job board, please1:15:05reach out. I mean, you know, you might1:15:06be able to do it for us. It might work1:15:08out. So, if you're amazing at something,1:15:09you don't see the perfect job1:15:10description, just reach out. Tell us1:15:12what you're good at. Maybe it'll work.1:15:13>> Genuinely, I can't do this without a1:15:15team. So, I'm very thankful for anyone1:15:16who supports the mission. I look forward1:15:18to hearing from you guys. Next question.1:15:21Okay, finish this uh statement.1:15:24>> No, no, I'm just kidding. [laughter]1:15:27Finish this phrase. I stopped being1:15:30jealous when I understood this.1:15:34>> I stopped being jealous when I1:15:36understood that my identity was in1:15:38Christ, not in self. So, I used to be1:15:43very jealous and compare a lot. Um1:15:45because1:15:47I I would think I would look at1:15:50everybody. So [clears throat]1:15:52on the other side of the cross, meaning1:15:53before I was saved, I would look at my1:15:55friends, they would have a lot of money.1:15:57So that would motivate me to get more1:15:59money, to get uh a better car, to get a1:16:02better penthouse, whatever, because I1:16:05didn't want to feel less than. And on1:16:08the other side of the cross after coming1:16:10to Christ, right, AD after death,1:16:13believing in receiving Jesus as my Lord,1:16:16I would look at other brothers and1:16:17sisters and I would see how they're1:16:18preaching the gospel boldly, how they1:16:20had a lot of unlocks, and I would envy1:16:22and I would also get jealous. But one1:16:25day, I was able to recognize through the1:16:27scripture that God has already not only1:16:30made me a new creature, but he's given1:16:32me works that I can do greater than he1:16:35is what it says in the Bible. you can do1:16:36works greater than me. And what he meant1:16:38by that was because I gave you the power1:16:41to preach. I gave you the power to tread1:16:44on scorpions and you know serpents and1:16:47things like that. And basically what1:16:49he's saying is yo Johnny stop looking at1:16:51yourself. Stop looking at other people1:16:53horizontally basically and start looking1:16:56vertically. So when I learned I stopped1:16:59becoming jealous when I learned about1:17:01and accepted what God said about me1:17:04versus what I saw about me versus what I1:17:07thought about me, what I felt about me,1:17:09my experiences about me, and what other1:17:11people said about me. So that's when I1:17:14stopped being jealous.1:17:16Nice. Do you hear me?1:17:19I know obviously you're no Johnny Chang,1:17:22but [laughter]1:17:23>> do you have any experience with jealousy1:17:25or maybe can you also finish the1:17:26sentence? Let's see what you would say.1:17:28>> I stopped being jealous.1:17:29>> I stopped being jealous when I1:17:30>> No, I remember. Hey, know I remembered1:17:32the question. I was about to recite it.1:17:34>> Okay. Don't get [laughter] jealous.1:17:35>> Okay. Yeah.1:17:36>> Don't get jealous.1:17:37>> I stopped being jealous when I1:17:40>> I stopped being jealous when I realized1:17:42>> Oh, so you don't remember? [laughter]1:17:45>> That's actually crazy.1:17:47That's so interesting.1:17:50>> I'm just playing a character, you know.1:17:51This is just for a little, you know. So1:17:53then repeat it. I stopped being jealous1:17:55when I understood.1:17:58>> Yeah. Duh. That was [laughter]1:18:00Jerry. I caught1:18:01>> I stopped being jealous when I unders I1:18:05stopped being jealous when I understood1:18:07that tall people die earlier than short1:18:09people.1:18:10>> Okay. So he hasn't stopped being1:18:11jealous. [laughter]1:18:14>> You think you're so COOL BEING 6'1.1:18:19YOU THINK IT'S OH, OH, OH. It's so1:18:21uncomfortable to sit in an airplane1:18:23seat. Same. Okay. [laughter]1:18:25It's also uncomfortable for me, too.1:18:27>> Sure, buddy.1:18:28>> Sure.1:18:28>> Because my leg room1:18:30>> can't see over when people are getting1:18:31off.1:18:32>> Yeah, exactly. Also, I have to hunch1:18:34when we stand up on the So, same.1:18:37>> We're all hunched over and Jeremy gets1:18:39up after boarding just1:18:40>> Yeah. [laughter]1:18:42>> in position.1:18:45I stopped being you answer first.1:18:48>> I don't have a good answer. I truly I1:18:50haven't stopped being jealous about1:18:51certain things. But I can tell you1:18:52things that I'm not jealous about1:18:54anymore as a good Yeah. Yeah. That's1:18:56real.1:18:57>> Which would be like I don't know. This1:18:58is a very privileged mindset. So not1:19:01everyone can go take and use this1:19:02advice. But [laughter]1:19:04he's like he's like I stopped being1:19:05jealous when my my my dad sent my sister1:19:08two private jets. You know, I could1:19:10still use the the family driver.1:19:12>> He was also making money. Yeah, I1:19:14stopped being jealous when AMD hit 500.1:19:17>> Yeah. [laughter]1:19:17>> No. Um,1:19:19>> no. I stopped being jealous uh just1:19:21because I I'm very fortunate. I have a1:19:23very good life and it's easy for me to1:19:25sit back and just be appreciative of the1:19:26things I have. Like when I see someone1:19:28doing crazy things online or whatever,1:19:30it's like, okay, I could could be doing1:19:31that, but I also could be doing much1:19:33worse. And I'm always like very grateful1:19:34of where I'm at. So, I still get jealous1:19:36of certain things for sure, but that's1:19:38just like certain things I'm not jealous1:19:40of anymore. as far as just like people I1:19:41see online or just like stuff like that1:19:44I'm just like eh don't care don't care1:19:46anymore. That's a good one though1:19:48because dude whether or not people say1:19:51that they don't get jealous of what they1:19:52see on their feet it's seeping into1:19:54their brain1:19:55>> and it's poisoning them. It's the most1:19:57secret poison that you you don't1:19:59realize. You know then you start looking1:20:00at your partner and your partner's a1:20:02little overweight and then you look at1:20:03your bank account and your bank1:20:04account's a little skinny and then you1:20:05look at1:20:06>> what? [laughter] Yeah. Underwear1:20:08underwear underwear1:20:11underwear. You guys are bad.1:20:13>> And then you look in the mirror.1:20:14>> No, I was going to clown myself. You1:20:16didn't let me fit. And then you look in1:20:17the mirror and jawline perfect as usual1:20:19behind [laughter] you.1:20:21>> That's Johnny for sure.1:20:23>> What are you weigh? He's like [laughter]1:20:27>> tattoos 63. What can I complain about?1:20:29Looks in the mirror. It's like1:20:31>> I look in my mirror, it breaks. Like1:20:33what the [laughter] heck is going on?1:20:36This is terrible.1:20:37>> Breaks is crazy.1:20:39>> But but uh the comparison is you're like1:20:42ah it's not that crazy. That's a hard1:20:45one that people for sure1:20:47>> can't get over. So you're getting over1:20:48it.1:20:48>> I think it comes with age. I think we're1:20:50all really old. Like I've been looking1:20:51at social media stuff for 10 years. I've1:20:53been watching larers for like the1:20:55majority the better half of my entire1:20:56life.1:20:57>> What's a larer again?1:20:58>> Just like laring for real is like live1:21:01action roleplay. It's like when people1:21:02are in the park. You see them in the1:21:03park and they're wearing like1:21:04>> they're playing like World of Warcraft.1:21:08>> Yeah. But the new people are saying1:21:10you're laring online when you're just1:21:11pretending you're rich. It's like let's1:21:13go to my one homie's house in the hills.1:21:15>> I'm going to post a story from his1:21:17balcony and I'm laring as like a rich1:21:19>> borrow his wife or like I'm in a rented1:21:20Lambo taking a picture of the air.1:21:23>> Yeah. We all go to a nice fancy dinner1:21:25and I take a picture of it like like it1:21:28has anything to do with me. But it's1:21:29just like that's laring. But like I've1:21:31been seeing people LAR online for1:21:33literally the better half of my life, 151:21:35years. It's like back in the day that1:21:37stuff totally affected me. It was1:21:38inspirational. I wanted to do all that.1:21:40But nowadays I see it, I'm just like,1:21:41"No interest, don't care." I know 75% of1:21:44it's fake. Actually, 99% of it's fake.1:21:47The 1% of the people who are actually1:21:48doing it for real, that's now1:21:50inspiration to me. I'm like, "Oh, I've1:21:52seen that it's possible. You've made1:21:54You've shown me that it's possible. I1:21:56don't have to go reinvent something like1:21:57this person showed me it's possible."1:21:59But I don't know. That's Yeah, it comes1:22:00with age, I think. Not Not falling into1:22:02the traps online.1:22:04>> Facts.1:22:04>> Been around the I've fallen into it far1:22:06too many times. Fool me once, shame on1:22:08you. Fool me twice,1:22:10>> shame on me.1:22:10>> Yeah.1:22:11>> Can't fool me again.1:22:12>> Yeah. Yeah. Dude, I was just thinking1:22:14about George Bush, [laughter] dude.1:22:16>> He's like, "Fool me once, shame on you.1:22:17Fool me. Fool me twice." Well, you can't1:22:19fool me again.1:22:21[laughter]1:22:21>> It's not even the same, bro.1:22:23>> He's like, "I will bomb the living hell1:22:25out of your country."1:22:26>> [laughter]1:22:28>> No, that's basically like so laring is1:22:30fake it till you make it type thing.1:22:31>> Well,1:22:32>> no, you can LAR in anything. So, I could1:22:34LA I could be like I could lar as like a1:22:37a low life or like a bum. Sure. Like1:22:39you're laring as like you're laring as a1:22:41bum when in reality, you know, you're1:22:42not a bum.1:22:43>> Fake it till you make it. I like that's1:22:44actually a good sentiment to a degree. I1:22:46like it. But it's like the laring is1:22:48just faking it.1:22:49>> There's no till you make it. That's1:22:51crazy. Some people can like like you1:22:52know they could be laring as like uh1:22:55>> there's some LAR fake it till you make1:22:56it for sure but that's not the everyone1:22:58doing it.1:22:58>> Gotcha. Gotcha.1:22:59>> People just do it to do it.1:23:00>> Gotcha.1:23:01>> Everyone wants to make their life look1:23:03more amazing online because no one's1:23:04going online to post their bad moments.1:23:06It's like why would you? I'm not going1:23:07online and posting the times when my1:23:09bank account's hitting negative. It's1:23:10like people want to go post when they're1:23:11at Nou which I literally did. It's1:23:13[laughter] like it just did it's just1:23:14>> you rather show that stuff. And when you1:23:16go post yourself online crying people1:23:18make fun of you for that too. So, it's1:23:20like [laughter]1:23:20just post the highlights. And that's1:23:23what it really was. You're sharing the1:23:24cool things you're doing with your1:23:25friends and family. And that's all1:23:26social media is ever meant to be. But1:23:28it's become something else.1:23:29>> True.1:23:30>> Well, I I'm experiencing this now, but I1:23:32didn't I never experienced this until1:23:34just recently where1:23:36>> people claim to like overly love you,1:23:40but actually a lot of it is envy.1:23:43>> Have you like ever had that experience?1:23:45I mean, you've had success as a DJ,1:23:47million followers. You ever have people1:23:49like love you but just they love you1:23:53because they want to be like you? I1:23:55guess that that's what I'm noticing too1:23:57even in my1:23:59>> Yeah. Drake Jake Drake just said in his1:24:00last album it was something like your1:24:02biggest fan your biggest followers like1:24:04your biggest haters or your biggest1:24:05supporters1:24:06>> because you have to actually like watch1:24:08every piece of content to hate on it.1:24:09It's like the person commenting on every1:24:11video it's like you're watching every1:24:12video you're getting served the content.1:24:14>> So true. It's like for someone to1:24:16actually intricately hate on you, they1:24:18have to actually intricately know you,1:24:19too. If I'm just like, "You're lame."1:24:22But if I don't really know you, it's1:24:23like, "How do you know I'm lame?" But if1:24:24someone really picks apart, it's like,1:24:25"That was so embarrassing when you did1:24:27this two and a half months ago because I1:24:28saw how you reacted to it." It's like1:24:30they have to in like a real hater has to1:24:33really be also somewhat of a supporter1:24:34cuz it's like how would [laughter] they1:24:35even know how to hate on you?1:24:37>> Yep.1:24:38>> That's crazy.1:24:39>> The the other thing too is Yeah, it is1:24:41true. There's definitely people out1:24:42there that probably see you, want to be1:24:44you, and then it's [snorts]1:24:46>> I I notice it after I just reject or1:24:49like I don't do what they want.1:24:51>> It's never like in the beginning. It's1:24:54always like,1:24:56>> "Yeah, like, man, I support every time I1:24:58check people, especially on Discord1:24:59stage or like online. [clears throat]1:25:02How could you do that, bro? I watch1:25:03every one of your video." They always1:25:05lead with that. I watch everyone. I sent1:25:07this video to my friend and your video1:25:10at soft underbelly helped me with this1:25:12and then I'm like then why you no listen1:25:14now? [laughter]1:25:16Why you you support me but you no1:25:18listen? Like I legit don't understand it1:25:20and I think that's something that I have1:25:22to like at least online. I get it cuz I1:25:25guess it's parasocial in a lot of ways,1:25:27right? But1:25:28>> for sure1:25:29>> in real life too, I I I would sense that1:25:32energy with some people, but it wouldn't1:25:35be as blatant because I think there was1:25:38consequences. When you stand in front of1:25:40somebody, the energy is always different1:25:42versus like behind a computer screen,1:25:44which I understand now. But man,1:25:47[clears throat] I had to learn like1:25:49dude, the internet's the internet.1:25:50Somebody can create a false account,1:25:53falsify information and just like delete1:25:56it and then restart it and do it again.1:25:59And I'm just like more views for us.1:26:02>> They literally governments whether1:26:04people not to want to believe it or not,1:26:06they do that to change narratives on1:26:07things.1:26:08>> Whoa.1:26:09>> It's easy1:26:10>> to me. I feel like people who fall for1:26:12that too, like I told this in Discord,1:26:14like if you guys are falling for people1:26:17like that, for a sound bite, that kind1:26:20of says a lot about you as well, right?1:26:22Either you don't really listen to what1:26:24we're saying or Yeah. It's It's kind of1:26:27sad. It It also I don't know, you leak a1:26:31lot of things and I'm starting to notice1:26:33that with so many people.1:26:34>> You're trying to pull information to1:26:35make your reality true.1:26:37>> Yeah.1:26:37>> Oh, wow. That comment actually I that1:26:39comment makes a lot of sense. That's1:26:40exactly what I was thinking. That clip1:26:42makes a lot of sense. His argument makes1:26:43a lot of sense.1:26:44>> I have to catch myself too because1:26:46>> I'm very anti- everything.1:26:48>> Yeah.1:26:49>> It's the topics that people just really1:26:51care about. It's like people just really1:26:53care. It's really really like their1:26:56whole lives kind of rotate around things1:26:58or depend on it and they just really1:26:59care.1:27:00>> People don't get as heated in like you1:27:02know the skateboard community and it's1:27:04like at the end of the day if it's if1:27:05you're right or wrong it's like whatever1:27:06move on with life.1:27:08>> Sure. But in this, it's just like people1:27:10really really care. That's why it's like1:27:12I Yeah. People look for to prove their1:27:15own what they already want to see and1:27:17then they seek that out and1:27:19>> reconfirm it. And1:27:20>> that's such pride though too, right?1:27:22Where it's like I have to be right and I1:27:24want to make my narrative right and I1:27:27don't know just exalt.1:27:28>> We're victims of the times and1:27:31everything's short form and such quick1:27:33information.1:27:34>> You used to have 15 seconds and even1:27:36that sounded short. Now it's three1:27:38seconds. And honestly, even that you1:27:40don't have. You have one second.1:27:41>> And it's just like people need things so1:27:43fast and so quick. If I see a little1:27:45clip, I'll be I'm a victim of it, too.1:27:47If I see a clip, I'm not going to go1:27:48research and look in and watch the1:27:49hourong context. It's like I'll see it,1:27:51I'll think something, I'll move on if I1:27:53don't super care. When people see1:27:54something they really care about. It's1:27:56like they should go dive in and actually1:27:57look into the context.1:27:58>> But it's just like um1:28:00>> we're all victim of just like this1:28:01fast-paced environment now where1:28:04>> Yeah. It's a We live in a clipped up1:28:06world.1:28:07>> Yeah.1:28:07>> And people aren't seeking out context1:28:09and and1:28:11>> whether it's malicious or not, we're all1:28:13re reassuring our own narratives.1:28:15>> True.1:28:16>> Clipped up is different to me than it is1:28:18to you guys. [laughter]1:28:22>> What's What is What is uh what does your1:28:24yours mean?1:28:24>> Switchy.1:28:25>> What does that mean? Is that like you1:28:27switch social media platform? Oh,1:28:29>> Cinnabun drum.1:28:30>> Oh, you play uh drums.1:28:31>> You ever heard Oh,1:28:32>> Auntie Annie's. I didn't know. Wait, I'm1:28:35confused. Are you talking about the1:28:36instrument? But now you're talking about1:28:37food.1:28:38>> No, he's saying he would empty a clip1:28:39like delete it or archive.1:28:41>> Yeah, I would empty a clip.1:28:43>> You take photos like a photographer.1:28:45>> Yeah.1:28:47Yeah, [laughter] definitely a flash and1:28:49a very Sometimes it's very loud.1:28:51>> What kind of camera is loud?1:28:53>> There's a lot of them. It's uh It's the1:28:56Canon 762.1:28:59>> Canon 762. I've never heard of that one.1:29:01>> 5.56. Yeah, [laughter]1:29:03>> Canon 223.1:29:05>> That's the one with the switch.1:29:06>> But you struggle. You struggle working1:29:08these cameras. Do you know what ISO is1:29:10or f-stop?1:29:11>> No, I seem to know about stop you1:29:14>> in your tracks1:29:16>> with a C. This is making no sense to me.1:29:18>> Guys, our live events are getting super1:29:20packed. We genuinely need some help. So,1:29:22we're looking for a live events1:29:24producer. So, I'm going to be completely1:29:26honest about this. There's a lot of1:29:28moving pieces from booking a church,1:29:30finding the vendors, scanning in the1:29:32people, the volunteers, the merch, like1:29:34there's so many moving pieces that I'm1:29:35just going to say right now, we're1:29:36looking for a professional. We're1:29:38looking for someone who has done this1:29:39before. If you're watching and you're1:29:40like, "Oh, I think I can help live1:29:42events." Honestly, you're probably not1:29:43the pick. But if you're watching and1:29:44you're saying, "Oh, I've done this1:29:45before. I've thrown live events. I've1:29:47even maybe worked in a church space."1:29:49Please reach out. We're looking for a1:29:50killer, someone who can really1:29:51coordinate everything. It's a ton of1:29:53moving pieces. At the end of the day,1:29:54it's nothing too hard or complicated,1:29:56but it's a lot of details, a lot of1:29:58moving pieces, and for us to be doing1:30:00this every single month, once a month or1:30:01even more, it's almost impossible1:30:03because we each run different branches1:30:04of the business. So, for us to do this1:30:06ourselves, it's becoming unscalable. So,1:30:08if you think, you know, you know, I can1:30:09come in, take this over, I'll learn from1:30:12them, we'll teach you everything, and1:30:13you think I can take the information and1:30:15go throw them live events every single1:30:17month in a different city for the rest1:30:18of the next 10 years. If you're hearing1:30:20this and you think that's you, please1:30:22reach out. We pay super competitively.1:30:24We have honestly a really good pay for1:30:25you guys because we really want to do1:30:26this. Live events are super important to1:30:28Johnny and all of us and all of you1:30:30guys. So, we want to keep doing them. We1:30:32want to keep making them super amazing.1:30:33And that's why honestly, we're looking1:30:35for a killer. Like it. We're not really1:30:37going to hire anyone to test them out or1:30:38try to train. We're looking for someone1:30:40who has done this before and is ready to1:30:41do it for us. And we're going to pay you1:30:43very handsomely for it. So, please reach1:30:45out. The best way to do it, there's a1:30:46link in the description. Why don't you want me pouring1:33:21the water on you?1:33:22>> Because the couch will get wet.1:33:24>> Okay, so if that happens, just know it1:33:25was your fault. [laughter]1:33:27>> Wait, no, but you're pouring water on1:33:29you.1:33:29>> I'm telling you,1:33:30>> but you can control your actions.1:33:31>> Leave this part in. [laughter]1:33:33>> Leave it in. Whoa.1:33:46>> Oh, sorry. Sorry. Sorry.1:33:47>> My gosh. Tell me how you really feel.1:33:49[laughter]1:33:50>> Um, okay. This1:33:51>> feel a little pretty.1:33:52>> Brutal truths I'd tell my 12-year-old1:33:55self are1:33:56>> So, some brutal truths if I could go1:33:59back and tell my 12year-old self is1:34:02you're going to get betrayed.1:34:04You're gonna get hated on. Not1:34:06everybody's really a homie. Some people1:34:09are genuinely a liability,1:34:12>> man. Nothing positive.1:34:14>> Hell no.1:34:16>> Things are going to get better.1:34:18>> You're going to get you're going to make1:34:19money and you're going to still be1:34:21empty. Um, and then when the Korean man1:34:26comes by1:34:28and his last name starts with [laughter]1:34:31>> I was going to be like, "Pastor Kim."1:34:33>> Yeah. Yeah.1:34:34>> Yeah.1:34:34>> There's no way around this one.1:34:36[laughter]1:34:38>> Pastor Kim um he's going to come around.1:34:41Trust him and believe in what he says1:34:43cuz he cares about you. Yeah. No,1:34:46genuinely though, I would tell myself1:34:48all of those things. And I would say1:34:51just wait and just Yeah. Just wait. You1:34:54know, God has a plan for you. Dude, oh1:34:57my gosh. When I think about my1:34:5812-year-old self, I had no hope, man.1:35:02When I think about it, I never want to1:35:04go back to that feeling. It was so1:35:06normal, but it was so it's scary now.1:35:09Back then, it wasn't scary because1:35:11you're living in it. [clears throat]1:35:12But if I have a choice, like, yeah, it's1:35:14it's it's kind of sad how I how empty I1:35:17felt at the age of 10. Now that I think1:35:20about it, that's when I really felt1:35:21really empty. 10 years old and then 121:35:23was just like fullfledged. I don't care1:35:26about anything. I think my1:35:29Yeah, I don't know how that that's even1:35:31possible though now that I think about1:35:33it. But I was just able to be like1:35:36nothing's going to happen in life for1:35:38me. Like I knew that at a young age.1:35:40Crazy as hell. Crazy as heck. you I1:35:45remember when I when I got locked up too1:35:48like the first time1:35:50the heart of like I'm not even scared1:35:55that that was in itself was kind of1:35:57crazy cuz I remember seeing kids get1:35:59scared too. The kids would cry like,1:36:02"Oh, no. I want to go home." And I would1:36:06sit there and be like, "Use a beep1:36:09beep." Like, for real. And I had no1:36:11compassion. And then I I also felt1:36:17adrenaline.1:36:19It was weird. It was like, "Yeah, this1:36:22is They said this place is scary." Like,1:36:23"Yeah, I want to see." Like, it was it1:36:26was really wild. Now that I think about1:36:28it, that's scary. before I remember1:36:31hands sweating and just like yeah this1:36:34like I'm gonna be able to prove myself I1:36:35wonder who's there like oh [snorts] I'm1:36:38but then I'm like yeah but what if I die1:36:39like oh so what like what it was this1:36:42energy1:36:43man that now that I think about it that1:36:45terrifies me a little bit like how could1:36:48I be like that when you really don't1:36:50have anything to live for1:36:53it's okay when you stay like that cuz1:36:56you don't have anything to compare right1:36:57like if I only lived on an indigenous1:37:00island and I just tasted fish all the1:37:02time and I didn't know what steak was.1:37:04You're fine. But now I've tasted1:37:06[clears throat] this part of life that's1:37:08spiritual and freeing.1:37:10I could almost never I could understand,1:37:13but I never would want to be like that1:37:15feeling ever again. It's a It's like a1:37:17dark hole in a closet and a place that1:37:20you just want to like shut up forever.1:37:22It's kind of crazy.1:37:24>> Yeah. Yeah. It's wild1:37:27>> how I feel about Jeremy. M1:37:30>> Yeah.1:37:30>> Do you have any brutal truths that you1:37:32would tell1:37:33>> a dark closet?1:37:34>> Yeah. Just a hole that you want to just1:37:35close and never see again. [laughter]1:37:37>> I do.1:37:38>> Um, no, I'm just kidding. Do you have1:37:39any brutal truths for your 12-year-old1:37:41self?1:37:42>> Brutal truths is like a is like a hard1:37:44word to say.1:37:45>> Yeah, true.1:37:46>> I think one is like is like uh1:37:52>> I think it's similar to his where it's1:37:54obviously he went through something1:37:55darker, but it's like it's going to be1:37:57okay.1:37:57>> Yeah. Yeah. Like just1:37:58>> that's not a brutal truth.1:38:00>> Is that not a brutal truth?1:38:01>> No.1:38:01>> What what I what I was saying was brutal1:38:03truths.1:38:04>> Oh, big old brain.1:38:05>> Oh, like you're going to be depressed.1:38:06You're going to brutal for no reason.1:38:09>> Okay. I'd say a brutal truth is1:38:15life may suck now, but it will get1:38:17better when you get older.1:38:18>> Said the same thing. [laughter]1:38:20>> But how's that not a brutal truth?1:38:21>> Because that's that's1:38:23like a happy thing.1:38:25>> Oh, okay.1:38:26>> Brutal truth is It's never going to get1:38:28bigger than [laughter] two inches.1:38:31>> Well, my height I'm Tom 5'8. I'm bigger1:38:33than 2 inch. [laughter]1:38:38>> Look at1:38:41you. You're You're always going to fit1:38:43the Asian stereotype.1:38:45>> Oh my gosh. Good at math. [laughter]1:38:49>> I have to like defend myself.1:38:51>> I'll give you what I need to do. Take my1:38:53pants off. [laughter]1:38:55>> Is that what's going to1:38:56>> I'll show you all.1:38:58They're like, it's still kind of1:39:00[laughter]1:39:02>> I'll give you a brutal truth about1:39:05yourself. No, I'm just kidding.1:39:06[laughter]1:39:07Just roast them.1:39:09>> No, here's a brutal truth that I would1:39:11tell my 12-year-old self is that this1:39:14may not be true. I'm not that old, so I1:39:16could be wrong. if I'm wrong. I don't1:39:17want to sound too depressing,1:39:19>> but um like1:39:20>> the the fun or like the light and the1:39:24joy and like the innocence does fade to1:39:28a degree.1:39:29>> And it's like um1:39:31>> while you're in it and while you have1:39:32the opportunity, like go hard. It's like1:39:34while you're a college kid and you don't1:39:36have a ton to lose or you could totally1:39:39screw up your entire life and still1:39:40recover. It's like do it.1:39:42>> Don't screw up your life. I'm saying1:39:44take take risks that that you won't be1:39:46able to take later. Or just like when1:39:48you have energy, chase it. If you're1:39:50inspired or passionate about something,1:39:51go for it. Like it just doesn't last1:39:53forever. And it's like if you sit around1:39:55waiting for inspiration, the older you1:39:56get, the further those moments come.1:39:59>> This is not endorsed by Johnny Chain.1:40:01>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't I don't1:40:03>> I understand what you're saying.1:40:04>> Yeah. It's just more just like a if you1:40:05have energy, use it cuz like that like1:40:08>> I don't know the optimism is fleeting.1:40:12If you're still super optimistic,1:40:14>> true, bro.1:40:15>> Take advantage of that. Use crazy.1:40:17>> What What would you guys say my optimism1:40:19level is?1:40:20>> Pretty pretty up there.1:40:21>> Too high.1:40:22>> Like pretty up there.1:40:23>> But isn't that a good thing?1:40:24>> I think it is.1:40:26>> Yeah.1:40:26>> But it makes people feel sad.1:40:28>> Why?1:40:28>> Cuz if they don't have the same energy,1:40:30then they they're1:40:31>> But it's like yippy.1:40:34>> No. Okay.1:40:35>> No, it's not yippy.1:40:35>> But you know what's so funny that you1:40:37said that? So Outdoor Boys, you know1:40:39what's funny? No one knows his name.1:40:40They just know him as Outdoor Boys.1:40:42What's his name?1:40:42>> I don't know.1:40:43>> Neil. [laughter]1:40:45>> Neil.1:40:45>> Yeah, something like that.1:40:47>> Nigel.1:40:49>> Definitely not a Nigel.1:40:50>> He looks like Neil.1:40:51>> Yeah, he looks like he look like a Neil.1:40:54He could be like a Bob1:40:55>> or like a Shawn.1:40:56>> We're just saying all the white name1:40:58Bob. Sean Peter.1:41:00>> He recently did a commencement speech at1:41:02a college and it was really funny what1:41:04his advice was. his his advice was save1:41:08as much money as you can because that's1:41:11going to allow you to go after the1:41:13opportunity when it comes across your1:41:15desk. And he was talking about how he1:41:16previously to his career he wanted to be1:41:19a or he was a lawyer1:41:21>> and he saved every penny he could just1:41:23because he he that's what his parents1:41:25had told him to do. And I forgot the1:41:27situation, but he was like it was him1:41:30versus it was like the the housing crash1:41:33or the economy crashed or whatever. It1:41:35was him and this other guy. And this1:41:36other guy had to like basically fight to1:41:38stay alive, but he had these savings1:41:41that allowed him to go try and make1:41:43YouTube and do this thing for a while1:41:45which like completely changed the1:41:47trajectory of his life. And he was like1:41:48the only difference was that I had1:41:50savings and he did not.1:41:52>> And I was like crazy. What's funny is in1:41:54my life I could say that in a lot of1:41:56ways I've never had that cushion and1:41:58I've always1:41:59>> taken risks with and barely survived1:42:02along the way to like get to where I am.1:42:04So but but I was able to take those1:42:06those risks because I had nothing like1:42:09luckily my parents are healthy. I don't1:42:11have anybody else to care about. But if1:42:12I had a child, maybe I got married too1:42:15young and I had a kid or uh just1:42:19whatever other reasons, I wouldn't have1:42:21been able to take the risks that I have.1:42:23So,1:42:24>> it kind of what you were saying was an1:42:26interesting thought. It's like, yo, when1:42:28you're young and you have this time to1:42:30like take big risks or, you know, Yeah.1:42:34like put time into things that may not1:42:37pan out for one reason or the other.1:42:38Like take that ad I would take a lot1:42:41more advantage of that and don't follow1:42:43stupid rules.1:42:46>> All right.1:42:47>> 12-year-old self, buy more AMD.1:42:51>> Why not Bitcoin? I would1:42:52>> don't let your mom throw out the Pokemon1:42:54cards. They will be worth tens of1:42:56thousands of dollars in the future.1:42:58>> Dude, why would you tell your1:42:5912-year-old self not to get Bitcoin over1:43:01AMD? I don't think Bitcoin existed when1:43:03we were 12.1:43:05>> Oh, I don't think AMD existed when you1:43:07were 12. [clears throat]1:43:08>> I don't know.1:43:09>> I don't know. Maybe get Nvidia instead.1:43:12>> Okay. Well, just first of all, before we1:43:14end the episode, I'm curious if you guys1:43:15liked that last segment. Let us know in1:43:17the comments if you guys want more stuff1:43:19where we're going to try to package1:43:21segments, whether it's at the end where1:43:22we ask Johnny questions or do you guys1:43:25honestly like the beginning more where1:43:26it's like a free flowing conversation1:43:27about Johnny's topic. So, let us know.1:43:30Do you genuinely like tell us if you1:43:32didn't like the end? Tell us if you1:43:33didn't like the beginning. If you do1:43:35like the beginning, [clears throat] if1:43:35you do like the end, let us know more1:43:37ideas that you guys would want to see1:43:38for packaged content. Would you guys1:43:40like to see Johnny react to videos1:43:42again? I think we're going to start the1:43:43re the video reactions again where we1:43:45pull up a screen here in the new studio1:43:47and watch new um videos pertaining to1:43:49Christianity. So, let us know if you1:43:51like which segments of this episode you1:43:53actually liked. Let us know if you1:43:54genuinely didn't like certain things.1:43:56Let us know what you want to see more1:43:57of, if you have ideas. But please1:43:59everyone leave a comment. If you made it1:44:00this far, you're actually a real true1:44:02listener and we value your opinion and1:44:04you actually watch the episodes. So1:44:06please let us know what you want to see1:44:07more of, what you want to see less of.1:44:09We only value your opinion if you write1:44:10nice comments about me. Anyways, so what1:44:12I was saying was no, the the other thing1:44:15I wanted to add on top of that is that1:44:17we are still looking for a live events1:44:19producer. The job description is in the1:44:20link in the bio or you go to1:44:21careers.coreheart.com, cortheart.com. Go1:44:23to core oftheheart.com. At the top bar,1:44:24it says careers. Click on that. Look for1:44:26the live events producer. And we're1:44:27looking for an absolute killer. So, if1:44:29you've applied, we haven't responded.1:44:31You know, we're sorry, maybe it wasn't1:44:32the right fit, but we have a lot of1:44:34people that are highly skilled in this1:44:36area. We're just looking for the1:44:38absolute best.1:44:40>> The best.1:44:41>> So, and best could be subjective. You1:44:42might think you're the best, but our1:44:44criteria of judges may not have felt1:44:46like you were the right fit. So, please1:44:47don't take that personally. We just know1:44:49what we know. And yeah,1:44:51>> well said,1:44:52>> Figgity Facts. And that concludes the1:44:54episode on the Unlearn Wisdom podcast.1:44:58We're going to quit for Just kidding.1:44:59Totally kidding. [laughter] Just1:45:01kidding.1:45:01>> Intrusive thoughts.1:45:02>> Yeah, intrusive thoughts, guys. But uh1:45:04let us pray. Let us pray out.1:45:08>> Father God, thank you so much that1:45:10regardless, Lord, if we feel like you've1:45:12answered or not answered, there is no1:45:15such thing as an unanswered prayer.1:45:17Lord, you've answered all of our1:45:19prayers, whether it's yes, no, or wait,1:45:23but we can understand one thing. When we1:45:24look to the cross, Father God, it's1:45:26undeniable how much you love us. So, if1:45:29you ever withhold anything from us, it's1:45:31because it's for our greater good. If1:45:33you give us something, it's also because1:45:34you're good and not we're good and we1:45:36don't deserve those things. But rather,1:45:38God, I hope that you also allow the1:45:40brothers and sisters here to listen1:45:42deeply to this Unlearned Wisdom podcast1:45:45about the prayer. There's a lot of times1:45:47Lord where we question also our1:45:49salvation. There's a lot of times where1:45:51we question not only the prayer aspect1:45:53but how to pray. God I I also as a1:45:58humble servant please allow them to see1:46:00that when we come to you Lord you just1:46:02want honesty. You don't want any1:46:04strength. You don't want any there's1:46:07nothing righteous about our prayer.1:46:08Right? It comes from people who sin. It1:46:10comes from people who are lacking. But1:46:12what you want, Father God, is honesty.1:46:15And there's times where we don't know1:46:16what to pray for, [clears throat] but1:46:18we're very thankful what the scripture1:46:19says about the prayer. It says in Romans1:46:218:26 that the spirit knows what we pray1:46:24for even when we don't. And for that,1:46:27God, we're so thankful that you knew1:46:30that there's times where we don't want1:46:31to pray. We don't know what to pray for.1:46:33We don't even recognize that we're not1:46:35praying and we're kind of slowly1:46:37drifting. Rather, you have Jesus making1:46:39intercession at the right hand and you1:46:41have the Holy Spirit making intercession1:46:43for us every single day. Father God,1:46:45thank you. We leave everything in your1:46:46hands, Lord. And in Jesus name we pray.1:46:49Amen.1:46:50>> Amen. Like, comment, subscribe.1:46:53>> Like, comment, subscribe. Am I?
